Two new species of Actinomadura isolated from soil samples of the Turkmen SSR, i.e. Actinomadura fulvescens sp. nov. and Actinomadura turkmeniaca sp. nov. are described. The first species is characterized by formation of short (1-2 turns) spiral spore chains, smooth spores, scanty white aerial mycelium, colourless or yellowish substrate mycelium on synthetic media and brownish-yellow substrate mycelium and soluble pigment of the same colour on organic media. No melanoid pigment is secreted. The type culture is designated as INA 3321. The cultures of A. fulvescens show antibiotic activity. A. turkmeniaca is characterized by formation of short straight or spiral spore chains, smooth spores, scanty white aerial mycelium, substrate mycelium and soluble pigment of pinkish-violet colour, absence of melanoid pigment. The type culture is designated as INA 3344. The strains of this species have low antibiotic activity. The study on the use of carbon sources by the representatives of 7 species (9 strains) of Actinomadura showed that the majority of the cultures (5 species, 7 strains) produced no growth on the Pridham and Gottlieb medium (ISP-9) with various carbon sources, including glucose. Possibly this medium cannot be used as the main medium for investigation of the spectrum of carbohydrate consumption in Actinomadura.  相似文献

Twenty seven cases of actionomycotic mycetoma caused either by Actinomadura madurae or Actinomadura pelletierii have been described. Infection by A. madurae has been more common than A. pelletierii. Left foot in A. madurae and right foot in A. pelletierii infections were involved more commonly in adult males, whereas right foot of the females was frequently affected in A. madurae infection. Large, soft, white grains in A. madurae and small, firm, red grains in A. pelletierii were consistantly seen. Deep hematoxylin stained grains with scalloped margin and prominent eosinophilic club in A. madurae and such deep stained grains with smooth margin and horizontal cracks appearing as protions of a spherical mass in A. pelletierii were diagnostic. Large numbers of plasma cells and Russel bodies were also characteristic of A. madurae infection. Both the grains were stainable with Von Kossa method for calcium. Bone changes were similar in both the infections. Oral tetracycline produced soft tissue and bone resolution to almost normalcy in those who regularly consumed the drug any time from 2 to 6 years. Mild glucose intolerance, facial hyperpigmentation and urticaria were the side effects observed in a few. Two patients developed cataract following tetracycline therapy. The value of medical therapy with oral tetracycline in Actionomadura mycetomas is emphasized.  相似文献

Thirteen red strains of Actinomadura (Nocardia) pelletieri and three of A. madurae were shown to produce prodigiosin-like pigments. Both of the two major pigments which were observed on thin-layer chromatograms had RF values significantly greater than prodigiosin. The main pigment from A. madurae 953 was shown by mass and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopies to be nonylprodigiosin. The major pigment from A. pellitieri had a C11H22 side chain in a ring form, but it was distinctly different from metacycloprodigiosin. “Prodiginine” was proposed as a name for the invariant aromatic portion of the prodigiosin structure.  相似文献

An actinomycete strain designated as Actinomadura sp. INA 654 was isolated from a chernozem soil sample in the Voronezh Region by the soil sample treatment with millimetric waves (EHF band). The strain produced an antibiotic complex of 2 components, named A-654-I and A-654-II. Investigation of their physico-chemical properties showed that A-654-I was identical to echinomycin, a heteropeptide lactone of the quinoxaline group with antitumor activity, while A-654-II proved to be likely a new natural compound. Production of echinomycin by a representative of the Actinomadura genus was detected for the first time. Up to now, only representatives of the Streptomyces genus were known to produce echinomycin.  相似文献

Screening of antibiotic-producing cultures among Actinomadura showed that definite species mainly produced antibiotics of the same groups. Thus, carminomycins were produced by all the 4 studied strains of A. carminata, maduramycins were produced by 3 strains of A. rubra, prodigiozines were produced by 3 strains of A. madurae and luzopeptines were produced by 6 strains of A. recticatena. Supposedly, new antibiotics with original spectral characteristics were isolated from 2 strains of A. fulvescens. There was a clear-cut relation of the number of the active strains and their antibiotic productivity in definite media to their species. The liquid nutrient media, such as yeast-sucrose, soya-glucose and soya-glucose with cobalt chloride proved to be the most efficient in the primary screening of antibiotic-producing cultures.  相似文献

In Japan during 1996-2004, 21 actinomycete strains that have madurose as the diagnostic cell-wall sugar and show true branching in their substrate and aerial mycelia were isolated from sputa or bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid of patients with pulmonary infections or who were suspected of having related infections. Chemotaxonomic studies showed that all the isolates belong to the genus Actinomadura. Among them, six and seven strains were classified respectively into clusters of Actinomadura nitritigenes and Actinomadura cremea based on 16S rDNA analyses because their 16S rDNA similarities to those respective species were greater than 99.5%. To our knowledge, this is first report that strains of above two species were isolated from clinical specimens. Neither Actinomadura madurae nor Actinomadura pelletieri strain was isolated, and one new species, Actinomadura chibensis, was proposed; the remaining seven strains were not assigned into any known species, suggesting the presence of another new Actinomadura species.  相似文献

The taxonomic position of two soil isolates, strains A288(T) and A290(T) [provisionally assigned to the genus Actinomadura] was clarified in a polyphasic study. The organisms showed a combination of chemotaxonomic and morphological properties typical of actinomadurae. They also formed distinct phyletic lines in the 16S rRNA Actinomadura gene tree; strain A288(T) was associated with A. nitritigenes whereas strain A290(T) was closely related to a group that consisted of A. citrea, A. coerulea, A. glauciflava, A. luteofluorescens and A. verrucosospora. Strains A288(T) and A290(T) showed key phenotypic features which readily distinguish them from one another and from representatives of related validly described species of Actinomadura. It is proposed that the two organisms be classified as new species of the genus Actinomadura. The names proposed for the new taxa are Actinomadura mexicana (A290(T) = DSM 44485(T) = NRRL B-24203(T)), and Actinomadura meyerii (A288(T) = DSM 44485(T) = NRRL B-24203(T)).  相似文献

1. Female Parcoblatta fulvescens feed selectively on diets differing in nutrient content when given a choice during the reproductive cycle. 2. Diets high in carbohydrate and protein content are preferred early in the cycle, while a cellulose-containing diet is readily consumed toward the end of the cycle. 3. The total diet consumed by females given a choice contained about 16% protein, and they did not excrete uric acid while on this diet. 4. Females on diets high in carbohydrate or cellulose required longer to complete the reproductive cycle than females on high-protein diet or those given a dietary choice. 5. Nitrogen-stressed females will consume urate-containing fecal pellets, but only if they have utilizable carbohydrate in their diet.  相似文献

Spawning by lake sturgeon (Acipenser fulvescens) in the Detroit River   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Overfishing and habitat destruction in the early 1900s devastated lake sturgeon (Acipenser fulvescens) populations in the Great Lakes. Although a comprehensive restoration strategy for this species was recently drafted by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, a lack of current data on Great Lakes sturgeon stocks has hindered rehabilitation efforts. Historically, the Detroit River supported one of the largest lake sturgeon populations in the Great Lakes; however, little is known about the current population or its habitat use. The main objective of this study was to determine if lake sturgeon spawns in the Detroit River. As part of a larger study, baited setlines were used to capture lake sturgeon in the Detroit River in the spring and summer of 2000 and 2001. In each year of the study, ultrasonic transmitters were surgically implanted in 10 adult fish to track their movements, evaluate habitat use and identify possible spawning sites. Using telemetry and egg mats to verify spawning activity, one spawning site was located and verified in the Detroit River. Spawning was verified by recovering sturgeon eggs deposited on egg collection mats anchored at the site. Telemetry data suggested that several other possible spawning sites also may exist, however, spawning activity was not verified at these sites.  相似文献
