Cyanobacterial blooms in eutrophic lakes are severe environmental problems worldwide. To characterize the spatiotemporal heterogeneity of cyanobacterial blooms, a high-throughput method is necessary for the specific detection of cyanobacteria. In this study, the cyanobacterial composition of three eutrophic waters in China (Taihu Lake, Dongqian Lake, and Dongzhen Reservoir) was determined by pyrosequencing the cpcBA intergenic spacer (cpcBA-IGS) of cyanobacteria. A total of 2585 OTUs were obtained from the normalized cpcBA-IGS sequence dataset at a distance of 0.05. The 238 most abundant OTUs contained 92% of the total sequences and were classified into six cyanobacterial groups. The water samples of Taihu Lake were dominated by Microcystis, mixed Nostocales species, Synechococcus, and unclassified cyanobacteria. Besides, all the samples from Taihu Lake were clustered together in the dendrogram based on shared abundant OTUs. The cyanobacterial diversity in Dongqian Lake was dramatically decreased after sediment dredging and Synechococcus became exclusively dominant in this lake. The genus Synechococcus was also dominant in the surface water of Dongzhen Reservoir, while phylogenetically diverse cyanobacteria coexisted at a depth of 10 m in this reservoir. In summary, targeted deep sequencing based on cpcBA-IGS revealed a large diversity of bloom-forming cyanobacteria in eutrophic lakes and spatiotemporal changes in the composition of cyanobacterial communities. The genus Microcystis was the most abundant bloom-forming cyanobacteria in eutrophic lakes, while Synechococcus could be exclusively dominant under appropriate environmental conditions.  相似文献

In two laboratory-scale enclosures of water from the shallow, eutrophic Lake Loosdrecht (the Netherlands), the predominating filamentous cyanobacteria grew vigorously for 2 weeks, but then their populations simultaneously collapsed, whereas coccoid cyanobacteria and algae persisted . The collapse coincided with a short peak in the counts of virus-like particles. Transmission electron microscopy showed the morphotype Myoviridae phages, with isometric heads of about 90 nm outer diameter and >100-nm long tails, that occurred free, attached to and emerging from cyanobacterial cells. Also observed were other virus-like particles of various morphology. Similar mass mortality of the filamentous cyanobacteria occurred in later experiments, but not in Lake Loosdrecht. As applies to lakes in general, this lake exhibits high abundance of virus-like particles. The share and dynamics of infectious cyanophages remain to be established, and it is as yet unknown which factors primarily stabilize the host–cyanophage relationship. Observations on shallow, eutrophic lakes elsewhere indicate that the cyanophage control may also fail in natural water bodies exhibiting predominance of filamentous cyanobacteria. Rapid supply of nutrients appeared to be a common history of mass mortality of cyanobacteria and algae in laboratory and outdoor enclosures as well as in highly eutrophic lakes. Ciliate community composition was investigated in four subtropical eutrophic lakes with cyanobacterial blooms in three seasons during 2009–2010 using the quantitative protargol staining approach. Among the four lakes, Lake Taihu and Chaohu are situated in the mid-lower Yangtze Plain near sea level, and Lake Dianchi and Xingyunhu are located on the Yunnan–Kweichow Plateau. A total of 102 ciliate species, representing 15 orders and 66 genera, were studied. Ciliate communities in Lake Taihu and Chaohu were characterized by abundant algivorous and mixotrophic oligotrichs and prostomatids, while Lake Dianchi and Xingyunhu ciliate communities were primarily characterized by voracious bacterivorous scuticociliates and peritrichids. Cluster analysis based on the transformed square root of ciliate abundance showed that samples from Lake Taihu and Chaohu composed one group whereas samples from Lake Dianchi and Xingyunhu composed another group in each season. Our results indicated that all dominant ciliate species are ubiquitous and that species dominance is regulated by different factors in different subtropical eutrophic lakes.  相似文献

Cyanobacteria blooms are an increasing problem in temperate freshwater lakes, leading to reduced water quality and in some cases harmful effects from toxic cyanobacteria species. To better understand the role of zooplankton in modulating cyanobacteria blooms, from 2008 to 2010 we measured water quality and plankton abundance, and measured feeding rates and prey selectivity of the copepod Diacyclops thomasi before, during and following summertime cyanobacteria blooms in a shallow, eutrophic lake (Vancouver Lake, Washington, USA). We used a combined field and experimental approach to specifically test the hypothesis that copepod grazing was a significant factor in establishing the timing of cyanobacteria bloom initiation and eventual decline in Vancouver Lake. There was a consistent annual succession of zooplankton taxa, with cyclopoid copepods (D. thomasi) dominant in spring, followed by small cladocerans (Eubosmina sp.). Before each cyanobacteria bloom, large cladocerans (Daphnia retrocurva, Daphnia laevis) peaked in abundance but quickly disappeared, followed by brief increases in rotifers. During the cyanobacteria blooms, D. thomasi was again dominant, with small cladocerans abundant in autumn. Before the cyanobacteria blooms, D. thomasi substantially consumed ciliates and dinoflagellates (up to 100% of prey biomass per day), which likely allowed diatoms to flourish. A shift in copepod grazing toward diatoms before the blooms may have then helped to facilitate the rapid increase in cyanobacteria. Copepod grazing impact was the highest during the cyanobacteria blooms both years, but focused on non-cyanobacteria prey; copepod grazing was minimal as the cyanobacteria blooms waned. We conclude that cyclopoid copepods may have an indirect role (via trophic cascades) in modulating cyanobacteria bloom initiation, but do not directly contribute to cyanobacteria bloom decline.  相似文献

Previous studies have shown that ciliate plankton is generally controlled by food resources (e.g., algae) and predators (e.g., metazooplankton). Among lakes with similar trophic levels but different distributions of phyto- and metazooplankton, the main forces acting on ciliate assemblages may be different. We investigated the relationship between ciliate communities and bottom-up versus top-down variables based on a survey of four subtropical eutrophic lakes (China). Two of the lakes (Chaohu, Taihu) are located on the Mid-lower Yangtze Plain near sea level, and the other two (Dianchi, Xingyunhu) on the Yunnan-Kweichow Plateau at 1700 m above sea level. Blooms of cyanobacteria developed during summer in Lakes Chaohu and Taihu and throughout the year in Lakes Dianchi and Xingyunhu. Ciliate functional feeding groups differed significantly between lakes. The results of canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) and variation partitioning showed that cyanobacteria significantly influence ciliate species, whereas ‘edible’ algae (cryptophytes, diatoms) and cladocerans were the important variables in explaining the ciliate community structure of Lakes Dianchi and Xingyunhu compared with Lakes Taihu and Chaohu. Our results highlight the importance of consistent cyanobacterial blooms in shaping the ciliate community in subtropical eutrophic shallow lakes by interacting with top-down and bottom-up factors.  相似文献

设计了双因素四组处理(对照组,加螺组,加藻组,螺藻组)的室外受控实验,模拟湖泊沿岸带水华蓝藻的堆积以及底栖螺类的牧食活动对沉水植物苦草生长的影响。结果表明:蓝藻堆积(水体叶绿素a浓度为220μg/L)对苦草的生长具有明显的抑制作用,和对照组以及加螺组相比,加藻组和螺藻组中苦草的相对生长率分别下降了40.9%和36.4%,分株数也分别下降了56.4%和64.1%,分析认为蓝藻在水体表层堆积所产生的遮光可能是抑制底层苦草生长的主要原因。然而,环棱螺能在一定程度上促进苦草的生长,加螺组和螺藻组中苦草的相对生长率和分株数分别要明显高于对照组和加藻组,这可能要归因于螺类的牧食去除了沉水植物表面附着生物。实验中蓝藻堆积和螺类牧食对苦草的各项生长指标均无显著的交互作用,但蓝藻对苦草生长的抑制作用要远大于螺类对植物生长的促进作用。研究证实了在富营养浅水湖泊中,水华蓝藻在湖泊沿岸带的堆积会严重胁迫沉水植物的生长,而底栖螺类的牧食活动则能在一定程度上提高植物在不良环境下的生存能力。  相似文献

湖泊水华是全世界面临的严重生态环境问题之一,对人类和生态系统健康都有重大影响。由于湖泊水华受流域面源、点源污染、气候、水文因子以及湖泊生态系统自身特征等众多因素影响,水华是否爆发、其严重程度及时空分布特征呈现明显的复杂性。以我国太湖为研究区域,基于近年的水华及水环境的监测数据,用自组织特征映射神经网络对太湖不同监测点的水华程度进行了自动聚类分析。结果表明,太湖水华程度呈现为明显的无水华、轻度、中度和重度水华4类。不同程度水华的叶绿素a、水温、COD_(Mn)、营养盐、浮游植物生物量以及藻种(蓝藻、绿藻、硅藻)结构的时空差异显著,不同变量间的关系复杂,有助于深入认识太湖近年水华发生的时空变异特性。  相似文献

太湖春季水体固有光学特性及其对遥感反射率变化的影响   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
吸收特性和后向散射特性是水体重要的光学特性,同时也是建立生物光学模型的基本参数。利用2009年4月太湖春季实测数据,结合生物光学模型推导了太湖春季水体颗粒物后向散射系数,在此基础上分析了太湖春季水体的吸收特性和后向散射特性,并利用经验正交分解方法对遥感反射率变化的影响因子进行了分析。结果表明:(1)非色素颗粒物是影响太湖春季水体吸收特性的主导因子,色素颗粒物和CDOM对总吸收(不包含纯水)的贡献相对较小,且色素颗粒物在梅梁湾湖区的包裹效应明显大于其他湖区。(2)颗粒物后向散射系数与总悬浮物和无机悬浮物具有很强的相关性(相关系数均在0.88以上),与有机悬浮物的相关性相对较弱(相关系数均在0.73以下),且水体中多次散射对水面总辐亮度有较大的贡献,平均贡献率高达93.46%。(3)利用经验正交分解方法将遥感反射率变化光谱分解成3个正交因子,3个正交因子总共解释了约99%的遥感反射率变化信息,其中,第一正交因子解释了93%的变化信息,第二和第三正交因子分别解释了5%和1%的变化信息。通过对各正交因子与水体不同组分的吸收和后向散射系数进行相关性分析得出,颗粒物的后向散射对水面反射光谱的形成具有非常重要的影响,太湖春季水体遥感反射率的变化主要取决于无机颗粒物的吸收和后向散射,有机颗粒物对遥感反射率的变化影响较小。  相似文献

Cyanobacterial blooms in freshwaters have become one of the most widespread of environmental problems and threaten water resources worldwide. Previous studies on cyanobacteria in Lake Taihu often collected samples from one site (like Meiliang Bay or Zhushan Bay) and focused on the variation in patterns or abundance of Microcystis during the blooming season. However, the distribution of cyanobacteria in Lake Taihu shows differing pattern in various seasons. In this study, water samples were collected monthly for one year at five sites in Lake Taihu with different trophic status and a physicochemical analysis and denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) were conducted. DGGE fingerprint analysis showed that Microcystis (7/35 bands) and Synechococcus (12/35 bands) were the two most dominant genera present during the study period at all five sites. Cyanobium (3/35 bands) was the third most common genus which has seldom been previously reported in Lake Taihu. Redundancy analysis (RDA) indicated that the cyanobacterial community structure was significantly correlated with NO3--N, CODMn, and NH4+-N in the winter and spring, whereas it was correlated with water temperature in the summer and autumn. Limiting the nutrient input (especially of N and C loading) in Lake Taihu would be a key factor in controlling the growth of different genera of cyanobacteria.  相似文献

Dense surface blooms of toxic cyanobacteria in eutrophic lakes may lead to mass mortalities of fish and birds, and provide a serious health threat for cattle, pets, and humans. It has been argued that global warming may increase the incidence of harmful algal blooms. Here, we report on a lake experiment where intermittent artificial mixing failed to control blooms of the harmful cyanobacterium Microcystis during the summer of 2003, one of the hottest summers ever recorded in Europe. To understand this failure, we develop a coupled biological–physical model investigating how competition for light between buoyant cyanobacteria, diatoms, and green algae in eutrophic lakes is affected by the meteorological conditions of this extreme summer heatwave. The model consists of a phytoplankton competition model coupled to a one-dimensional hydrodynamic model, driven by meteorological data. The model predicts that high temperatures favour cyanobacteria directly, through increased growth rates. Moreover, high temperatures also increase the stability of the water column, thereby reducing vertical turbulent mixing, which shifts the competitive balance in favour of buoyant cyanobacteria. Through these direct and indirect temperature effects, in combination with reduced wind speed and reduced cloudiness, summer heatwaves boost the development of harmful cyanobacterial blooms. These findings warn that climate change is likely to yield an increased threat of harmful cyanobacteria in eutrophic freshwater ecosystems.  相似文献

With the rapid development of the economy in recent years, massive algal (blue-green algae in particular) blooms have often observed in Chinese eutrophic lakes. The concentration of the cyanobacterial pigment phycocyanin (PC), an accessory pigment unique to freshwater blue-green algae, is often used as a quantitative indicator of blue-green algae in eutrophic inland waters. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the semi-analytic PC retrieval algorithm proposed by Simis et al. and to explore the potential to improve this PC algorithm so that it is more suitable for eutrophic lakes, such as Taihu Lake. In this paper, we recalculated the correction coefficients γ and δ to calculate the absorptions of chlorophyll-a at 665 nm and the absorptions of phycocyanin at 620 nm in terms of in situ measurements and observed that the values of these coefficients differed from the values used by Simis et al. and Randolph et al. The two coefficients are site dependent due to the different bio-optical properties of lakes. We also observed that the specific PC absorption at 620 nm apc*(620) decreases exponentially with an increase in PC concentrations. Therefore, a non-linear power–function of apc*(620), instead of a constant value of apc*(620) as used by Simis et al., was proposed for our improved PC retrieval algorithm in Taihu Lake, yielding a squared correlation coefficient (R2) of 0.55 and a root mean square error (RMSE) of 58.89 μg/L. Compared with the original PC retrieval algorithm by Simis et al., the improved retrieval algorithm has generally superior performance. In evaluating the limitation of the PC retrieval algorithms, we observed that the ratio of the total suspended solids to phycocyanin can be used as a primary measure for retrieval performance. Validation in Dianchi Lake and an error analysis proved that the improved PC algorithm has a better universality and is more suitable for eutrophic lakes with higher PC concentrations.  相似文献

Cyanobacterial blooms are on the rise globally and are capable of adversely impacting human, animal, and ecosystem health. Blooms dominated by cyanobacteria species capable of toxin-production are commonly observed in eutrophic freshwater. The presence of cyanobacterial blooms in selected Ohio lakes, such as Lake Erie and Grand Lake St. Marys, has been well studied, but much less is known about the geographic distribution of these blooms across all of Ohio’s waterbodies. We examined the geographic distribution of cyanobacterial blooms in Ohio’s waterbodies from 2002 to 2011, using a nested semi-empirical algorithm and remotely sensed data from the Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MERIS) onboard the European Space Agency’s Envisat. We identified: 62 lakes, reservoirs, and ponds; 7 rivers; 6 marshes and wetlands; and 3 quarries with detectable cyanobacteria pigment (phycocyanin) concentrations. Of the 78 waterbodies identified in our study, roughly half (54%; n = 42) have any reported in situ microcystins monitoring results from state monitoring programs. Further, 90% of the waterbodies identified reached phycocyanin pigment concentrations representative of levels potentially hazardous to public health. This gap in lakes potentially impacted by cyanobacterial blooms and those that are currently monitored presents an important area of concern for public health, as well as ecosystem health, where unknown human and animal exposures to cyanotoxins may occur in many of Ohio’s waterbodies. Our approach may be replicated in other regions around the globe with potential cyanobacterial bloom presence, in order to assess the intensity, geographic distribution, and temporal pattern of blooms in lakes not currently monitored for the presence of cyanobacterial blooms.  相似文献

在世界范围内发生的富含营养的废水中生长蓝藻水华已经造成了严重的水污染。已有报道显示水华中的有毒成分是一类单环七肽微囊藻毒素,它们对人和家畜有严重的毒害作用,本文所使用的蓝藻水华采集于我国的太湖地区。我们采用三个亚致死计量(16、32、64 mg冻干藻细胞/kg体重,相当于4.97、9.94、19.88μg藻毒素/kg体重)的蓝藻水华提取物(CBE),分析它们对小鼠肝脏抗氧化酶的影响。经过连续14d每天腹腔注射CBE,小鼠分别在第3、5、7、9、11、13、15天处死并检测三种主要的抗氧化酶:超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)、过氧化氢酶(CAT)和谷胱甘肽巯基转移酶(GST)的活性。SOD和CAT的活性均呈现了抑制效应,GST的活性也发生了明显的变化。为了进一步确定过氧化的程度,我们又通过检测丙二醛的含量分析了脂质过氧化的程度。经过14d CBE处理后脂质过氧化表现出了明显的浓度依赖性的上升趋势。我们的结果表明,CBE对小鼠的抗氧化酶有严重毒害作用,并且能够引起脂质的过氧化。  相似文献

Iron can stimulate cyanobacterial growth. Determining iron availability to cyanobacteria is therefore essential for timely warnings of bloom development. The objectives of this study were to determine the key spectral parameters indicating cellular iron status in cyanobacteria and to establish reliable equations for estimating iron nutrition in cyanobacterial cells. Cells, pigments, cellular iron, and spectra of cyanobacteria were measured monthly at 17 sites in Meiliang Bay of Taihu Lake during the summer period of cyanobacterial blooms from 2010 to 2013. Pronounced spatial and temporal variability of cellular iron of cyanobacteria was observed. The previously developed structure-insensitive pigment index (SIPI) and plant senescence reflectance index (PSRI) and the newly proposed chlorophyll a/phycocyanin index (RChl/PC) exhibited strong relationships with cyanobacterial cellular iron content. The relationships between the cellular iron concentration and SIPI, PSRI and RChl/PC could be expressed as linear, quadratic and cubic functions, respectively. The equations derived herein were tested using independent data from 2008 to 2009, obtained from 31 sites within Taihu Lake. For the three models that included SIPI, PSRI and RChl/PC as predictors, the coefficients of determination (R2) between the measured and estimated cellular iron concentration were 0.549, 0.584 and 0.909, and the mean relative errors (RE) were 17.1%, 18.1% and 8.0%, respectively. The overall results indicated that use of the three key hyperspectral parameters, SIPI, PSRI and RChl/PC, could be used for non-destructive and real-time monitoring of the iron nutritional status of cyanobacteria-dominant algal blooms in eutrophic lakes.  相似文献

The effects of planktivorous and benthivorous fish on benthic fauna, zooplankton, phytoplankton and water chemistry were studied experimentally in two eutrophic Swedish lakes using cylindrical enclosures. In enclosures in both lakes, dense fish populations resulted in low numbers of benthic fauna and planktonic cladocerans, high concentration of chlorophyll, blooms of blue-green, algae, high pH and low transparency. In the soft-water Lake Trummen, total phosporus increased in the enclosure with fish, but in the hard-water Lake Bysjön total phosphorus decreased simultaneously with precipitation of calcium carbonate. Enclosures without fish had a higher abundance of benthic fauna and large planktonic cladocerans, lower phytoplankton biomass, lower pH and higher transparency.The changes in enclosures with fish can be described as eutrophication, and those in enclosures without fish as oligotrophication. The possibility of regulation of fish populations as a lake restoration method is discussed.This paper was presented at the XXth SIL Congress in Copenhagen in 1977.  相似文献

The effects of cyanobacteria on zooplankton abundance, structure and diversity were investigated, based on a systematic study on spatial and temporal variations of cyanobacteria and zooplankton in Lake Taihu from 1998 to 2007. It was found that similar increasing trends of cyanobacteria/phytoplankton ratios were accompanied by different trends in biomass, composition and biodiversity of zooplankton in different regions of the lake; the cladocerans benefitted from the increase in cyanobacteria; however, rotifers and protozoans were negatively affected by cyanobacteria. The biomass-based biodiversity of phytoplankton and zooplankton was negatively affected by cyanobacteria as well, and the adverse effects were in proportion to the cyanobacteria/phytoplankton ratio. These results indicated interestingly that higher amounts of cyanobacteria do not necessarily reduce zooplankton biomass, as the biomass of larger zooplankton such as cladocerans was positively related to cyanobacteria. The findings are essential to understand the complex ecological effects of cyanobacteria blooms in lakes.  相似文献

为了探究不同无机碳(Ci)转运基因型蓝藻与湖泊水体pH变化的关系,文章优化了水体中不同无机碳转运基因型蓝藻相对丰度的检测方法,测定了太湖、滇池及武汉市18个湖泊中具有不同无机碳(Ci)转运基因型蓝藻的相对丰度,并结合水体pH进行分析。结果发现,在所有湖泊中均存在bicA株、sbtA株及bicA+sbtA株,其中sbtA株分布最为广泛;随着水体中pH升高, sbtA株优势度随之增加。为了进一步解析不同Ci转运基因型蓝藻对CO2浓度变化的响应,研究了室内纯培养条件下bicA株、sbtA株及bicA+sbtA株分别在高浓度(1000 ppm)和低浓度(100 ppm)CO2下的竞争。结果显示,在低Ci水平下sbtA株具有明显竞争优势,而在高Ci水平下bicA株占据了优势地位。上述研究表明随着CO2浓度的上升,水华蓝藻中bicA株会具有竞争优势。大气CO2浓度上升可能会显著影响水华蓝藻的群落组成。  相似文献

The use of fish manipulation as a tool for lake restoration in eutrophic lakes has been investigated since 1986 in three shallow, eutrophic Danish lakes. The lakes differ with respect to nutrient loading and nutrient levels (130–1000 μg P l−1, 1–6 mg N l−1). A 50% removal of planktivorous fish in the less eutrophic cyanobacteria-diatom dominated Lake V?ng caused marked changes in lower trophic levels, phosphorus concentration and transparency. Only minor changes occurred after a 78% removal of planktivorous fish in eutrophic cyanobacteria dominated Frederiksborg Castle Lake. In the hypertrophic, green algae dominated Lake S?byg?rd a low recruitment of all fish species and a 16% removal of fish biomass created substantial changes in trophic structure, but no decrease in phosphorus concentration. The different response pattern is interpreted as (1) a difference in density and persistence of bloomforming cyanobacteria caused by between-lake variations in nutrient levels and probably also mixing- and flushing rates, (2) a difference in specific loss rates through sedimentation of the algal community prevaling after the fish manipulation, (3) a decreased impact of planktivorous fish with increasing mean depth and (4) a lake specific difference in ability to create a self-increasing reduction in the phosphorus level in the lake water. This in turn seems related to the phosphorus loading.  相似文献

悬浮物直接影响到光在水体中的传播,进而影响着水生生态环境,最终决定了湖泊的初级生产力。传统的遥感反演估算模型大多是针对某一湖区进行统一建模,忽视了不同区域水体光学性质的复杂差异性,并且传统的传感器时间分辨率和空间分辨率受到一定限制。针对太湖、巢湖、滇池、洞庭湖4个湖区利用两步聚类法将高光谱模拟到GOCI影像上的波段进行分类,将水体类型分为三类,第一类水体为悬浮物主导的水体,第二类水体为悬浮物和叶绿素a共同主导的水体,第三类水体为叶绿素a主导的水体。针对不同类型水体的光学特征,分别构建了悬浮物浓度反演模型,结果表明第一类水体可以利用B7/B4,第二和第三类水体可以利用B7/(B8+B4)作为波段组合因子对悬浮物浓度进行模型构建。精度验证结果表明,分类建模后第一类和第三类水体悬浮物浓度估算精度都得到了较明显提高,第一类水体RMSE降低了9.19mg/L,MAPE降低了3%,第三类水体RMSE降低了5.63 mg/L,MAPE降低了13.97%,第二类水体精度稍有降低。最后将反演模型应用于2013年5月13日的GOCI影像,可知整体而言太湖西南部地区悬浮物浓度较高,东北部地区悬浮物浓度较低,并且从9:00到15:00,太湖南部悬浮物浓度较高的区域在逐渐缩小。  相似文献

Depth profiles of downward quantum irradiance of photosynthetically available radiation in situ and spectral subsurface irradiance reflectance, obtained from water-leaving radiance, were determined in different inland water types. These included the large, shallow and eutrophic IJssel lagoon in the Netherlands, eighteen Dutch lakes differing in depth and trophic state, and the large, shallow and eutrophic Lake Tai in China. The attenuation coefficient for downward irradiance ranged from 0.7 to 5.4 m-1. An empirical relationship with the backscattering coefficient in the near-infrared waveband, derived from the reflectance, and three spectral reflectance band ratios explained 91% of the variation. The potential assessment of the spatial distribution of phytoplankton production through shipboard optical teledetection of the concentration of chlorophyll-a and the attenuation coefficient for downward irradiance is discussed.
