The general morphology of the antennae and the antennal sensilla of both sexes of Boarmia (Ascotis) selenaria SchiffermÜller are described. The following types of sensilla were found: Bohm bristles and sensilla chaetica, trichodea, coeloconica, auricillica and styloconica. Antennal sexual dimorphism is marked, but mainly confined to the presence of long sensilla trichodea in males and the absence in females. The sensilla trichodea are the most abundant sensillum type.  相似文献

The epoxydienyl sex pheromone of Ascotis selenaria cretacea can be detected only within a rod-like abdominal tip (RAT) of the female. To clarify which part of the RAT is the sex pheromone-producing region, the RAT was morphologically divided into three sections, defined positionally from the abdomen as sections A, B, and C. GC-MS measurements clearly showed that the sex pheromone compound levels in section B were four times greater than those of the other sections. Microscopic dissection analysis revealed that section B consists of four tissues: rectum, oviduct, musculature, and intersegmental membrane. GC-MS analysis of the individual tissues revealed that approximately 90% of the sex pheromone in section B is localized in the intersegmental membrane. A cell layer was found in the intersegmental membrane after staining with propidium iodide. Furthermore, incubation of tissues dissected from section B with a deuterated trienyl pheromone precursor revealed that the labeled epoxy pheromonal component was detected exclusively in the intersegmental membrane. We have determined that the sex pheromone-producing region of A. s. cretacea is on the terminal side of the intersegmental membrane located between the 8th and 9th abdominal segments.  相似文献

This study was conducted to investigate the sex pheromone composition of Palpita (=Diaphania) indica (Saunders) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) in Korea. Two sex pheromone components, E11-16:Al and E,E-10,12-16:Al, were identified by GC and GC-EAD analysis of sex pheromone gland extracts. The mean ratios of the two components, E11-16:Al and E,E-10,12-16:Al, were about 6.5:3.5 and 7.5:2.5 in gland extracts and in SPME collection, respectively. In field bioassays, maximum attraction occurred in traps baited with a 7:3 ratio of E11-16:Al and E,E-10,12-16:Al. The head extracts of P. indica stimulated the sex pheromone production of P. indica, as well as Hez-PBAN and PssPT, indicating that a PBAN-like substance exists in the head extracts of P. indica. Whole-mount immunocytochemistry showed that three groups of neurosecretory cells showed PBAN-like immunoreactivity in the SEG of P. indica. The PBAN-like immunoreactivity connected to the Corpora Cardiaca, a neurohemal organ. Also, PBAN-like immunoreactivity was found in the brain and in the thoracic and third/fourth abdominal ganglia. The addition of sex pheromone components of Peridroma saucia to the sex pheromone of P. indica greatly improved the attraction of P. indica males. The mixing of the sex pheromone components of S. exigua did not significantly increase the catches of P. indica, while the sex pheromone of H. armigera completely inhibited the attractiveness.  相似文献

This study was conducted to investigate the sex pheromone composition of the variegated cutworm (Peridroma saucia Hübner) in Korea. The sex pheromone components of P. saucia were identified as (Z)-9-tetradecenyl acetate (Z9-14:Ac) and (Z)-11-hexadecenyl acetate (Z11-16:Ac) through GC-EAD and GC–MS analysis. EAG tests of the male antennae revealed that the Z9-14:AC exerted significantly larger responses than other compounds. The female moths primarily called and copulated between 6 h and 7 h after the lights off, and the ratio of two pheromone components, Z9-14:Ac and Z11-16:Ac, in the sex pheromone gland during this period was 1:2.1 to 1:2.4. In the field trapping studies, a large number of male moths were caught in the traps baited with the mixtures of Z9-14:Ac and Z11-16:Ac at the ratios ranging from 2.3:1 to 1:4, with the highest trap catches at 1:1 to 1:2.3 ratios of the two components. The seasonal flight activities of P. saucia monitored by using pheromone lures revealed complicated patterns in Korea. Specifically, the first flight period was spread over a long period and irregular, while the second flight period differed among the localities examined.  相似文献

Female pheromone gland extracts of Spodoptera littoralis were analyzed for pheromone precursors. Large amounts of fatty methyl esters were found and a positive relationship between the methyl esters and the pheromonal components was observed. The esters were identified on the basis of capillary gas chromatography, coupled gas chromatography with mass spectroscopy and dimethyl disulfide derivatization, and subsequent gas chromatography with mass spectrometry. The characteristic fatty esters of S. littoralis are methyl (Z)-9-tetradecenoate, (E)- and (Z)-11-tetradecenoate, (Z,E)-9,12-tetradecadienoate, (Z,E)-9,11-tetradecadienoate, and (Z)-11-hexadecenoate. The biosynthesis of the monosaturated acids involves probably the common E11 and Z11 desaturases and chain shortening. For the biosynthesis of the novel diene acids, we propose a second, specific desaturation of (Z)-9-tetradecenoate by an E11 desaturase to produce (Z,E)-9,11-tetradecadienoate or by an E12 desaturase to produce (Z,E)-9,12-tetradecadienoate.  相似文献

Eight genera and 16 species of the Korean Cidariini, a tribe of Larentiinae (Lepidoptera, Geometridae), were revised: Dysstroma Hübner, Paradysstroma Choi, Callabraxas Butler, Thera Stephens, Heterothera Inoue, Pennithera Viidalepp, Polythrena Guenée and Xenortholitha Inoue. Pennithera comis (Butler) was newly added to the Korean fauna. Diagnostic and phylogenetic characters supporting the monophyly of the genera and a key to the genera were provided. The plum cankerworm moth, Cystidia couaggaria couaggaria (Geometridae: Ennominae), is a defoliator of Chinese plum trees (Prunus mume). The pheromone components of the female were analyzed by gas chromatography (GC) with an electro-antennographic (EAG) detector and GC coupled with mass spectrometry. The crude pheromone extract included several EAG-active components, i.e., trienyl, dienyl, and saturated hydrocarbons, with a C21-C25 straight chain. The characteristic mass spectra indicated the unsaturated hydrocarbons to be (3Z,6Z,9Z)-3,6,9-trienes and (6Z,9Z)-6,9-dienes. In the fields, mixtures of the synthetic C<21 and C<23 trienes in a ratio of 2:3 and 1:4 successfully attracted males of this diurnal species during daytime. While the male antennae responded to the C25 triene and saturated hydrocarbons, their synergistic effects were not observed on the male attraction in the fields. Addition of the C21 diene interestingly inhibited the activity of the triene mixture. Males of Cystidia truncangulata, a sympatric diurnal congener of C. c. couaggaria, showed similar EAG responses to the unsaturated hydrocarbons, but no C. truncangulata males were attracted by the lures tested for C. c. couaggaria males, indicating that the identified hydrocarbons comprised the species-specific pheromone of C. c. couaggaria females.  相似文献

The sex pheromone of the cloaked pug moth, Eupithecia abietaria Götze, an important cone‐feeding pest in spruce seed orchards in Europe, was investigated. Chemical and electrophysiological analyses of pheromone gland extracts of female moths and analogous analyses of synthetic hydrocarbons and epoxides of chain length C19 and C21 revealed (3Z,6Z,9Z)‐3,6,9‐nonadecatriene (3Z,6Z,9Z‐19:H) and 3Z,6Zcis‐9,10‐epoxynonadecadiene (3Z,6Zcis‐9,10‐epoxy‐19:H) as candidate pheromone components, which were found in a gland extract in a ratio of 95 : 5. In field trapping experiments, conspecific males were only attracted to a combination of 3Z,6Z,9Z‐19:H and the (9S,10R)‐enantiomer of 3Z,6Zcis‐9,10‐epoxy‐19:H. The (9R,10S)‐enantiomer was not attractive, which is in agreement with studies on other Eupithecia species, for which males have only been attracted by the (9S,10R)‐enantiomer of epoxides. Subsequent experiments showed that E. abietaria males were attracted to a wide range of ratios of the two active compounds and that trap catches increased with increasing dose of the binary blend. A two‐component bait containing 300 μg 3Z,6Z,9Z‐19:H and 33 μg of the (9S,10R)‐enantiomer of 3Z,6Zcis‐9,10‐epoxy‐19:H was efficient for monitoring E. abietaria in spruce seed orchards in southern Sweden, where this species has probably been overlooked as an important pest in the past. With sex pheromones recently identified for two other moths that are major pests on spruce cones, the spruce seed moth, Cydia strobilella L., and the spruce coneworm, Dioryctria abietella Denis & Schiffermüller, pheromone‐based monitoring can now be achieved for the whole guild of cone‐feeding moths in European spruce seed orchards.  相似文献
