The genus Eumicrotremus comprises 16 lumpsucker species distributed in the Arctic and northern Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The most common species in the North Atlantic is Eumicrotremus spinosus , described in 1776, and characterized partly by numerous bony tubercles on the head and body. Another Atlantic species, Eumicrotremus eggvinii , described in 1956, remained known only from a single specimen until additional specimens were recently recovered. To reassess the status of E. eggvinii , 21 meristic and 32 morphometric characters were analysed for a total of 83 specimens of E. spinosus and E. eggvinii . Mitochondrial (COI, COII and cyt- b ) and nuclear ( Tmo-4C4 ) genes were also sequenced for both species, along with Eumicrotremus derjugini . The results indicate that although E. spinosus and E. eggvinii are clearly separated by a considerable number of morphological characters, they in fact constitute a single, sexually dimorphic species. Thirteen specimens of E. eggvinii (including the holotype) and 59 E. spinosus could be sexed; all individuals of E. eggvinii turned out to be males and all E. spinosus were females. Identical DNA sequences were found in all E. eggvinii and E. spinosus for COI, COII and Tmo-4C4 , and a single shared synonymous substitution found in cyt- b . In contrast, E. spinosus , E. eggvinii and E. derjugini differed by 5·9% for COI and COII, 1·2% for Tmo-4C4 and 8·3% for cyt- b .  相似文献

Fedorov's lumpsucker, Eumicrotremus fedorovi Mandrytsa, 1991, is native to the Kuril Islands area. Two sets of 69 and 30 adult specimens of E. fedorovi caught on the continental shelf and slope of Simushir Island in the Pacific Ocean were dissected and studied for macroparasites. The studied specimens were heavily infected with plerocercoids of Nybelinia surmenicola and Ascarophis pacifica. For the first time, 15 parasite taxa were recorded for E. fedorovi. None of the parasites found are solely specific to the E. fedorovi or to the representatives of the family Cyclopteridae. The infection of E. fedorovi could be dramatically different in different parts of the Simushir Island area in terms of parasite species composition and intensity of infection.  相似文献

Data on morphometric analysis, feeding, and parasitic fauna of the Atlantic spiny lumpsucker Eumicrotremus spinosus from the Northwestern Barents Sea are given. The amount of food in the whole digestive tract of fish in the evening (18.00–02.00) is high; the weight of food bolus averaged 1/9 of the weight of the fish without guts; the average index of fullness of the stomach was 1018?. The small hyperiids Themisto abyssorum constituted the basis of food; Th. libellula, gammarides of the family Lysianassidae, and Gammarus wilkitzkii were consumed to a lesser degree. The pink shrimp Pandalus borealis and euphausiid Thysanoessa inermis are noted singly; the polychaetes of genus Nereis also serve as occasional food. Parasitic fauna of the Atlantic spiny lumpsucker is represented by the larvae of Anisakis simplex that are located on the liver parenchyma and pyloric appendages. The parasitic copepod Lernaeocera branchialis was found on the gills of one of the females.  相似文献

ABSTRACT Living and stained specimens of Phacodinium metchnikoffi , collected near Madrid, Spain, were studied under light microscopy. Infraciliature was stained using a silver-impregnation procedure. The somatic infraciliature is composed of a relatively small number of discontinuous kineties, formed by groups of few kinetosomes (pallets). The buccal ciliature is composed of an adoral zone of membranelles and a paroral formation otherwise unknown in ciliates, with many short kineties, which lie on a rigid stem. We propose that P. metchnikoffi is a primitive hypotrich and, consequently, we present a new classification system for hypotrichs.  相似文献

The development of all copepodid stages of a brackish calanoidcopepod Tortanus (Eutortanus) derjugini from western Korea isinvestigated. Homologies of segmentation and setation in adultcharacters are traced through all copepodid stages. The fourthand fifth pedigers are secondarily fused at the moult to theadult. Antennulary setation shows sexual dimorphism first atstage IV. The exopod of leg 1 is divided into two segments withoutaddition of any element at the moult to stage II, while an innerseta on the first segment is newly added at the moult to stageIII. This pattern differs from the basic pattern proposed forother copepods, in which the division of the exopod is precededby the formation of an element or both occur at the same time.In the fifth leg of the male some elements are suppressed duringthe final moult into the adult. The ontogenetic analyses indicatethat adult characters of some subgenera of Tortanus are expressedby their suppressions at the developmental phases. Suppressionof elements is important for the evolution of Tortanus.  相似文献

The taxa Coluber nuthalli Theobald, 1868 and Elaphis yunnanensis Anderson, 1879 are compared and redescribed, based on the examination of their type material. The morphological similarities of these two taxa revealed them as conspecific. Elaphis yunnanensis Anderson is thus declared as a protected name(nomen conservandum) with priority over C. nuthalli Theobald(nomen oblitum). A lectotype for Elaphis yunnanensis is designated and described. The validity of yunnanensis as subspecies name in combination with Orthriophis taeniurus(Cope) will be discussed. A number of S. E. Asian taxa of Acanthaceae are here recognized as belonging to the prevailingly African genus Isoglossa . The reasons for doing so are briefly outlined. The synonymy, as regards S. E. Asian Isoglossa, is worked out, generic as well as specific. The following new combinations are formally made: Isoglossa clemensorum (R. Benoist) comb. nov., I. collina (T. Anderson) comb. nov., I. geoffrayi (R. Benoist) comb. nov., I. glabra (Hand.-Mazz.) comb. nov., I. inermis (R. Benoist) comb. nov., and I. subcordafa (C. B. Clarke) comb. nov. The distribution is outlined and mapped. I. dichotoma is shown to occur in Africa, where I. lactea , and I. strigosula are sunk into its synonymy.  相似文献

鸮形目Strigiformes鸟类是一类适应夜行性生活的猛禽,主要于夜间活动,体色暗而斑驳,难于直接观察。我国关于鸮类分类的研究报道并不多见,长期沿用的一些种属名和目前国际上通用的相比已显陈旧。通过参阅相关文献,对我国现生鸮形目鸟类的分类系统进行了整理,计有2科12属33种。并指出需要迫切关注的物种和研究内容,其中毛脚渔鸮Bubo blakistoni为濒危种,四川林鸮Strixdavidi为易危种且是我国特有种,这两种鸮类国内相关报道罕见,亟待开展进一步研究工作以加强对这两个物种的保护管理。鬼鸮甘肃亚种Aegolius funereus beickianus的分类地位仍存在争议。鸮类的声学研究在我国几乎一片空白,鸮类的繁殖生物学研究也需要引起我国鸟类学工作者的足够重视。  相似文献

从形态和细胞学角度,对舟果荠和光果舟果荠的果实与种子形态、花粉形态以及染色体数目进行了比较研究,并对光果舟果荠的分类地位进行了重新探讨.结果表明,舟果荠和光果舟果荠的种子大小及形态和微形态基本相似,但前者的果实密被柔毛,花粉粒体积比后者的大,染色体数目为2n=14,而后者的果实光滑无毛,染色体数目为2n=12.二者在果实与花粉粒形态以及染色体基数上存在明显的差异.建议将光果舟果荠独立成种,恢复原有的分类位置.  相似文献

ABSTRACT Five ciliate species collected from the Woods Hole area were examined by protargol silver impregnation and scanning electron microscopy. These ciliates have been shown to sequester and use chloroplasts obtained from flagellate prey. One new species, Strombidium chlorophilum, is described. Four other species, Strombidium capitatum (Leegaard, 1915) Kahl, 1932, Strombidium conicum (Lohmann, 1908) Wulff, 1919, Strombidium acutum (Leegaard, 1915) Kahl, 1932, and Laboea strobila Lohmann, 1908, are redescribed. Characters used in describing the Strombidiidae include cell size and shape, anterior and ventral polykinetids, macronuclear shape and size, the kinetid “girdle,” the ventral kinety, the trichites, and the paroral kinety. The rationale for using these characters as taxonomic criteria is discussed.  相似文献
