为探讨遗传和环境因素对学龄双生子儿童身体围度及宽度等体格指标的影响,对351对6~12岁双生子儿童身高、胸围、腰围、臀围、肩宽、骨盆宽指标进行测量,计算各指标的相关指数。应用Mx软件拟合最佳结构方程模型计算各指标遗传度,分析年龄与性别的作用。结果发现,各指标拟合的最佳模型均为ACES,各测量指标的年龄方差较大(0.21~0.76),衍生指数中除腰臀比(女0.15,男0.05)外几乎均不存在年龄方差;各指标的共同环境方差变异较大(0.00~0.53);衍生指数的特殊环境因素方差(0.09~0.25)总体上高于测量指标(0.01~0.09)。校正年龄后,各指标遗传度为身高(女63%,男59%)、胸围(女84%,男88%)、身高胸围指数(女87%,男55%)、腰围(女46%,男64%)、臀围(女61%,男61%)、腰臀比(女44%,男44%)、肩宽(女78%,男78%)、骨盆宽(女62%,男62%)、身高肩宽指数(女40%,男40%)、身高骨盆宽指数(女35%,男48%)、肩宽骨盆宽指数(女24%,男24%)。结果表明学龄双生子儿童身高、胸围、身高胸围指数、臀围、肩宽、骨盆宽主要受遗传因素影响;腰臀比、身高肩宽指数、身高骨盆宽指数及肩宽骨盆宽指数受环境因素影响更大;遗传与环境因素对身高胸围指数、腰围指标的影响可能存在一定性别差异;年龄对学龄双生子儿童身体围度及宽度相关指数的影响较小。  相似文献

Vigorous physical activity (running) has been shown to attenuate the association between diet and body weight. Walking is the most popular physical activity, but is a moderate-intensity physical activity because it requires less than sixfold the energy expenditure of sitting at rest. We therefore examined whether reported distance walked per week affected the relationship of diet to BMI and circumferences of the waist, hip, and chest in 30,014 female and 7,133 male participants of the National Walkers' Health Study. Reported meat and fruit intakes served as indicators of high-risk diets for weight gain. The analyses showed that higher meat and lower fruit intake were significantly and consistently associated with greater BMI and waist circumference at all activity levels. Longer usual walking distance significantly attenuated the concordant relationships of diet with women's BMIs (P < 10(-8)), men's BMIs (P = 0.04), and women's waist (P < 10(-6)), hip (P = 0.0001), and chest circumferences (P < 10(-5)). Compared to walkers who averaged <1.5 km/day, the association of diet with adiposity in subjects who walked ≥1.5 km/day was reduced 21% in women and 31% in men for BMI; 20% in women and 27% in men for waist circumference; 19% for women's hip circumference; and 26% for women's chest circumference. Thus we conclude that diets characterized by high-meat/low-fruit intake were significantly associated with greater BMI, and this association was attenuated by moderate physical activity. The weaker results in men than women probably related to the smaller sample size, and reduced statistical power of the men.  相似文献

A model of the mechanics of gliding without loss of altitude (horizontal gliding) is developed. The model can be employed to assess the influence of the principal drag components (induced, profile and parasite drag), choice of initial and final glide velocities and height above the ground on glide distance. For birds gliding near to the ground the ground effect acts to decrease the induced drag and increase the lift to drag ratio of the wings. Minimum drag speed is reduced for birds gliding near to the ground. The model is applied to the gliding flight of the black skimmer (Rhyncops nigra). Glide distances for given initial and final velocities are significantly increased in the influence of the ground effect over out of ground effect values.  相似文献

The purpose of the present work was to study swimmers' efficiency during the underwater phase of the grab start. Eight high-level swimmers participated in this study. They performed two types of start: a regular grab start (with underwater leg propulsion after the glide) and a grab start with no underwater movement (swimmers had to remain in a streamlined position). Four cameras filmed the entire underwater phase of all starts. Nine anatomic landmarks were identified on the swimmers' bodies and their positions were calculated using a modified double plan DLT technique. From these positions and Dempster's anthropometric data, the center of mass position and velocity were also determined. Kinetic energies were also calculated. This velocity and kinetic energies for the two types of start were compared. Swimmers began underwater leg propulsion 1.69 m too soon. The global and internal energies were significantly higher for the start with underwater leg propulsion. Nevertheless, swimmers' velocities were equivalent for both starts. These results suggest that the swimmers did not use the underwater phase of the start efficiently: By kicking too soon, they did not succeed in producing higher velocities and thus wasted energy.  相似文献

Attenuation of flow disturbances in tapered arterial grafts   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Flow disturbances in tapered arterial grafts of angles of taper between 0.5 and 1.0 deg were measured in vitro using a pulsed ultrasound Doppler velocimeter. The increase in transition Reynolds numbers with angle of taper and axial distance was determined for steady flow. The instantaneous centerline velocities were measured distal to a 50 percent area stenosis (as a model of a proximal anastomosis), in steady and pulsatile flow, from which the disturbance intensities were calculated. A significant reduction in post-stenotic disturbance intensity was recorded in the tapered grafts, relative to a conventional cylindrical graft. In pulsatile flow with a large backflow component, however, there was an increase in disturbance intensity due to diverging flow during flow reversal. This was observed only in the 1.0 deg tapered graft. These findings indicate that taper is an important consideration in the design of vascular prostheses.  相似文献

目的:研究新疆伊犁哈萨克族成人身体围度的特征。方法:本次研究中针对新疆伊犁哈萨克族374例(男性192例,女性182例)成人的身体围度进行了测量以及做了相关的分析。对年龄组间围度值的变化进行方差分析,对年龄与围度之间的关系进行相关分析。并与我国其他26个族群的围度值进行聚类分析。结果:该区男性腰围、腹围年龄组间的差异具有统计学意义;该区女性除头围外的12项围度值在不同年龄组间差异均有统计学意义。女性围度值各年龄组间的差异比男性更加明显。直线相关分析,男性呼气围、腰围、腹围和臀围均与年龄呈正相关,女性颈围、躯干各部分围度和上肢围度均与年龄呈正相关。新疆伊犁哈萨克族在26个族群中头围、胸围、腹围、臀围、大腿围和小腿围6项围度值均处于较高水平。聚类分析显示,哈萨克族围度值与乌孜别克族最接近,我国20个人群围度比较,表明哈萨克族族围度值较大。结论:伊犁哈萨克族身体围度值较大,具有东亚类型族群的围度特征。  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of leg kick on the resistance force in front-crawl swimming. The active drag in front-crawl swimming with and without leg motion was evaluated using measured values of residual thrust (MRT method) and compared with the passive drag of the streamlined position (SP) for the same swimmers. Seven male competitive swimmers participated in this study, and the testing was conducted in a swimming flume. Each swimmer performed front-crawl under two conditions: using arms and legs (whole stroke: WS) and using arms only (arms-only stroke: AS). Active drag and passive drag were measured at swimming velocities of 1.1 and 1.3 m s−1 using load cells connected to the swimmer via wires. We calculated a drag coefficient to compare the resistances of the WS, AS and SP at each velocity. For both the WS and AS at both swimming velocities, active drag coefficient was found to be about 1.6–1.9 times larger than that in passive conditions. In contrast, although leg movement did not cause a difference in drag coefficient for front-crawl swimming, there was a large effect size (d = 1.43) at 1.3 m s−1. Therefore, although upper and lower limb movements increase resistance compared to the passive condition, the effect of leg kick on drag may depend on swimming velocity.  相似文献

The western consensus is that obese women are considered attractive by Afro-Americans and by many societies from nonwestern developing countries. This belief rests mainly on results of nonstandardized surveys dealing only with body weight and size, ignoring body fat distribution. The anatomical distribution of female body fat as measured by the ratio of waist to hip circumference (WHR) is related to reproductive age, fertility, and risk for various major diseases and thus might play a role in judgment of attractiveness. Previous research (Singh 1993a, 1993b) has shown that in the United States Caucasian men and women judge female figures with feminine WHRs as attractive and healthy. To investigate whether young Indonesian and Afro-American men and women rate such figures similarly, female figures representing three body sizes (underweight, normal weight, and overweight) and four WHRs (two feminine and two masculine) were used. Results show that neither Indonesian nor Afro-American subjects judge overweight figures as attractive and healthy regardless of the size of WHR. They judged normal weight figures with feminine WHRs as most attractive, healthy, and youthful. The consensus on women’s attractiveness among Indonesian, Afro-American, and U.S. Caucasian male and female subjects suggests that various cultural groups have similar criteria for judging the ideal woman’s shape.  相似文献

Previous forward fall simulation methods have provided good kinematic and kinetic data, but are limited in that they have started the falls from a stationary position and have primarily simulated uni-directional motion. Therefore, a novel Propelled Upper Limb fall ARest Impact System (PULARIS) was designed to address these issues during assessments of a variety of fall scenarios. The purpose of this study was to present PULARIS and evaluate its ability to impact the upper extremities of participants with repeatable velocities, hand forces and hip angles in postures and with vertical and horizontal motion consistent with forward fall arrest. PULARIS consists of four steel tubing crossbars in a scissor-like arrangement that ride on metal trolleys within c-channel tracks in the ceiling. Participants are suspended beneath PULARIS by the legs and torso in a prone position and propelled horizontally via a motor and chain drive until they are quick released, and then impact floor-mounted force platforms with both hands. PULARIS velocity, hip angles and velocities and impact hand forces of ten participants (five male, five female) were collected during three fall types (straight-arm, self-selected and bent-arm) and two fall heights (0.05 m and 0.10 m) to assess the reliability of the impact conditions provided by the system. PULARIS and participant hip velocities were found to be quite repeatable (mean ICC?=?0.81) with small between trial errors (mean?=?0.03 m/s). The ratio of horizontal to vertical hip velocity components (~0.75) agreed well with previously reported data (0.70-0.80). Peak vertical hand impact forces were also found to be relatively consistent between trials with a mean ICC of 0.73 and mean between trial error of 13.4 N. Up to 83% of the horizontal hand impact forces displayed good to excellent reliability (ICC?>?0.6) with small between trial differences. Finally, the ICCs for between trial hip angles were all classified as good to excellent. Overall, PULARIS is a reliable method and is appropriate for studying the response of the distal upper extremity to impact loading during non-stationary, multi-directional movements indicative of a forward fall. This system performed well at different fall heights, and allows for a variety of upper and lower extremity, and hip postures to be tested successfully in different landing scenarios consistent with elderly and sport-related falls.  相似文献

Active drag related to velocity in male and female swimmers   总被引:8,自引:0,他引:8  
Propulsive arm forces of 32 male and 9 female swimmers were measured during front crawl swimming using arms only, in a velocity range between 1.0 m s-1 and 1.8 m s-1. At constant velocity, the measured mean propulsive force Fp equals the mean active drag force (Fd). It was found that Fd is related to the swimming velocity v raised to the power 2.12 +/- 0.20 (males) or 2.28 +/- 0.35 (females). Although many subjects showed rather constant values of Fd/v2, 12 subjects gave significantly (p less than 0.01) stronger or weaker quadratic relationships. Differences in drag force and coefficient of drag between males and females (drag: 28.9 +/- 5.1 N, 20.4 +/- 1.9 N, drag coefficient: 0.64 +/- 0.09, 0.54 +/- 0.07 respectively) are especially apparent at the lowest swimming velocity (1 m s-1), which become less at higher swimming velocities. Possible explanations for the deviation of the power of the velocity from the ideal quadratic dependency are discussed.  相似文献

I investigated the relationship between male human vocal characteristics and female judgements about the speaker. Thirty-four males were recorded uttering five vowels and measures were taken, from power spectrums, of the first five harmonic frequencies, overall peak frequency and formant frequencies (emphasized, resonance, frequencies within the vowel). Male body measures were also taken (age, weight, height, and hip and shoulder width) and the men were asked whether they had chest hair. The recordings were then played to female judges, who were asked to rate the males' attractiveness, age, weight and height, and to estimate the muscularity of the speaker and whether he had a hairy chest. Men with voices in which there were closely spaced, low-frequency harmonics were judged as being more attractive, older and heavier, more likely to have a hairy chest and of a more muscular body type. There was no relationship between any vocal and body characteristic. The judges' estimates were incorrect except for weight. They showed extremely strong agreement on all judgements. The results imply that there could be sexual selection through female choice for male vocal characteristics, deeper voices being preferred. Sexually selected traits, such as male weapons, are highly variable in shape and size across species. However, little is known about the mechanisms that may govern this variation. Because males with greater investment in weapon size tend to win more fights, but also pay higher costs related to weapon development and maintenance, larger weapons should be expected only in species in which victory in male–male fights generate reproductive benefits that outweigh investment costs. Here, we hypothesized that the reproductive characteristics that increase the chances of winners to access females or to fertilize eggs will favor the evolution of larger weapons. To evaluate this hypothesis, we conducted a meta-analysis using arthropods as model organisms. To measure investment in weapon size, we gathered both Pearson correlation coefficient and the standardized (but non centralized) slope values for the relationship between weapon size and body size. We found that none of the reproductive characteristics we investigated was related to male weapon size. Thus, it seems that greater certainty of accessing a female or fertilizing female eggs with a victory does not modulate the investment in male weapon size. Perhaps the cost–benefit ratio between weapon size investment and reproductive success is not the main factor driving the variation in weapon size.  相似文献

Conventional aerodynamic arguments suggest that possession of high aspect ratio wings will always improve the flight performance of glides. Drag and power will be minimized at intermediate flight speeds. It is shown, however, that as the aspect ratio increases, these minimum drag speeds are reduced, and will fall below the stall speed of the glider. This will happen at lower aspect ratios in small gliders, which operate at higher profile drag coefficients. Increasing the aspect ratio further will improve performance less than this analysis suggests.
A detailed analysis is developed to calculate the optimum shape of small gliders. Profile drag increases with aspect ratio, owing to the fall in the Reynolds number, while induced drag falls with increasing aspect ratio. Minimum drag will be encountered and hence the glide angle will be minimized at intermediate values of aspect ratio. Best glide angles are achieved at low speeds (high lift coefficients) and the optimum aspect ratio increases with the mass of the glider.
Small natural gliders possess large, low aspect ratio wings. The aspect ratios are generally somewhat below those which would produce the best glide angle at stall speed, but should give a reasonable performance over a range of speeds.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to examine how wave-induced platform motion effects postural stability when handling loads. Twelve participants (9 male, 3 female) performed a sagittal lifting/lowering task with a 10 kg load in different sea conditions off the coast of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Trunk kinematics and foot center of force were measured using the Lumbar Motion Monitor and F-Scan foot pressure system respectively. During motion conditions, significant decreases in trunk velocities were accompanied by significant increases in individual foot center of pressure velocities. These results suggest that during lifting and lowering loads in moving environments, the reaction to the wave-induced postural disturbance is accompanied by a decrease in performance speed so that the task can be performed more cautiously to optimize stability.  相似文献

We assess locomotor performance by northern flying squirrelsGlaucomys sabrinus Shaw, 1801 and test the hypothesis that gliding locomotion is energetically cheaper than quadrupedal locomotion. We measured 168 glides by 82 northern flying squirrels in Alaska. Mean glide distances varied from 12.46 m to 14.39 m, with a maximum observed glide distance of 65 m. Mean glide angles varied from 41.31° to 36.31°, and mean air speed ranged from 6.26 m/s to 8.11 m/s. There were no differences in the performance of male and female flying squirrels. We used models of transport cost to provide an initial assessment of the hypothesis that gliding locomotion is energetically less expensive than quadrupedal locomotion. For glides of average length, cost of gliding was less than cost of quadrupedal locomotion except when the animals climbed to the launch point very slowly or ran quickly. Thus the hypothesis that gliding is less expensive than quadrupedal locomotion is supported.  相似文献

The relationship between torque-velocity characteristics of the knee extensors during isokinetic contractions and muscle fiber type of the vastus lateralis, determined from two muscle biopsy samples, was investigated in 12 male and 18 female subjects. Peak torque, corrected for the effect of gravity and impact artifact, was classified as corrected peak torque. The torque measured 30 degrees from full extension and, corrected for gravity, was classified as corrected torque at 30 degrees. No significant correlations were found between the percentage of fast-twitch fibers (%FT) or the relative area of FT fibers (%FTA) and corrected peak torque values for any of the velocities tested or the knee angles where corrected peak torques were measured. However, significant inverse relationships were determined for corrected torque at 30 degrees at all but the fastest velocity (270 degrees/s) and both %FT and %FTA for the male subjects. These results reveal that muscle fiber type of the vastus lateralis, based on duplicate muscle samples, is not related to the peak torque actually generated by the knee extensors but may influence the shape of the torque output for maximal contractions sustained over the entire range of motion.  相似文献

Background

The abdominal drawing-in maneuver (ADIM) is used to prevent abnormal movements of the lumbar spine and pelvis during therapeutic exercises. This study compared the effects of ADIM on the muscle onset time of the hamstring, gluteus maximus, and erector spinae muscles during prone hip extension exercise in subjects with or without hyperlordotic lumbar angle. Forty healthy adults (18 male, 22 female) were recruited for this study.

Methods

The lumbar lordotic angles and pelvic tilt angles of the subjects were measured using the Avaliação postural analysis software. The subjects were divided into two groups: the lumbar hyperlordotic angle (LHLA) and lumbar normal lordotic angle (LNLA) groups. The muscle contraction onset time of the hamstring, gluteus maximus, and erector spinae were assessed using surface electromyography.

Results

During ADIM application, the muscle contraction onset time of the gluteus maximus was significantly increased in the LHLA group compared with the LNLA group.

Conclusions

ADIM application during prone hip extension was more effective for gluteus maximus onset time in the LHLA group. Therefore, ADIM during prone hip extension may be useful for gluteus maximus training in individuals with lumbar hyperlordosis.  相似文献

Effects of long-term exercise on volumetric bone mineral density (vBMD), bone mineral content, bone geometric properties, and the strength indexes of bone were examined in a cross-sectional study of athletes and controls. Tibias of 25 jumpers (13 women), 30 swimmers (15 women), and 25 controls (15 women), aged 18-23 yr, were scanned at midsite by using peripheral quantitative computed tomography. The cortical vBMD of female athletes was lower than that of the controls (2.00 +/- 0.05, 1.90 +/- 0.08, and 1.92 +/- 0.12 g/cm3, respectively, for controls, swimmers, and jumpers). On the other hand, periosteal areas of male jumpers and female athletes were greater than that of controls (460 +/- 50, 483 +/- 46, and 512 +/- 55 mm2, respectively, for male controls, swimmers, and jumpers, and 283 +/- 52, 341 +/- 73, and 378 +/- 75 mm2, respectively, for female controls, swimmers, and jumpers). The endocortical area of female swimmers was greater than that of controls (103 +/- 29, 148 +/- 52, and 135 +/- 54 mm2, respectively, for controls, swimmers, and jumpers). The polar moment of inertia and strength strain index of male jumpers and female athletes were significantly greater than those of controls, except for the difference in strength strain index between male jumpers and controls. We conclude that the improvement of mechanical properties of young adult bone in response to long-term exercise is related to geometric adaptation and not to vBMD.  相似文献

Anthropometric characteristics of athletes are considered to be an important determinant of success in sport. The aim of the present study was to compare several anthropometric parameters and subjective characteristics of professional elite triathletes with anthropometric profiles of professional cyclists and sportive students. In total 93 volunteers (21 male and female triathletes, 26 male cyclists and as a control group 46 male and female students) participated in this study. Eight different anthropometric parameters were measured and a five-page questionnaire containing 35 general questions had to be completed. Interestingly, there were no significant differences between the arm span, the lengths of the lower limb and the circumference of waist and hip between male triathletes and cyclists. As expected, the athletes had significantly lower heart rates and lower weights as compared to the controls. Further results showed that male cyclists had a higher BMI, larger thighs and were taller as compared to the male triathletes. The present study could not evaluate specific anthropometric characteristics as predictive factors of performance in elite athletes. Thus, individual successful performance is linked to discipline and talent rather than to a specific anthropometric profile.  相似文献
