No effect on cognitive function from daily mobile phone use   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
The increasing use of mobiles phones (MP) has raised the problem of the effects of daily electromagnetic fields (EMF) exposure on human health. To date several studies have been published concerning the effects of acute MP exposure on psychomotor performances. This study investigated the effects of daily exposure to GSM 900 type MP on cognitive function. Fifty-five subjects (27 male and 28 female) were divided into two groups: a group with MP switched on and a group with MP switched off. The two groups were matched according to age, gender, and IQ. This double blind study lasted for 45 days and was divided in three periods: baseline (BLP, 2 days), exposure (EP, 27 days), and recovery (RP, 13 days). Subjects were exposed during EP and sham exposed during RP for 2 h/day, 5 days/week. The neuropsychological test battery composed of 22 tasks screened four neuropsychological categories: information processing, attention capacity, memory function, and executive function. This neuropsychological battery was performed four times on day 2 (BLP), day 15 (EP), day 29 (EP), and day 43 (RP). Our results indicate that daily MP use has no effect on cognitive function after a 13-h rest period.  相似文献

The number of cellular phone subscribers is increasing every year and there have been reports of health disorders related to the high-frequency radio waves. This paper considers the dependence of Thai university and high school students on cellular phones. A survey form (cellular phone dependence questionnaire: CPDQ) was distributed to 181 female and 177 male Thai university students and to 240 female and 140 male Thai high school students. The surveys were collected, Cronbach alpha coefficient was calculated, and a factor analysis was performed using the principal factor method and varimax rotation. The total scores were 16.54 to 20.04 and the Cronbach's alpha coefficients were 0.808 to 0.930. According to a factor analysis of 20 scored items, 4 factors were extracted for both male and female high school students, and the cumulative correlation coefficients of the male and female groups were 64.85% and 62.70%, respectively. Five factors were extracted for male university students and 6 factors were extracted for female university students, and the cumulative correlation coefficients were 58.08% and 57.91%, respectively. The W value results of the Shapiro-Wilk W-test for male university students, female university students, male high school students and female high school students were 0.969, 0.984, 0.964, and 0.913 respectively, thus verifying the normality of the score distributions.The total scores for the Thai university students were higher than the scores for the Thai high school students. The factor analysis of female high school students confirmed a large difference compared to male university students, male high school students, and Japanese female university students. (The Japanese students were surveyed in an earlier study by Toda et al.). Also, the CPDQ total score was high, which indicated a strong tendency toward dependence.  相似文献

Widespread use of mobile phones has increased the human exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMFs). It is required to investigate the effect of EMFs on the biological systems. In this paper the effect of mobile phone RF (910 MHz and 940 MHz) on structure and function of HbA was investigated. Oxygen affinity was measured by sodium dithionite with UV–vis spectrophotometer. Structural changes were studied by circular dichroism and fluorescence spectroscopy. The results indicated that mobile phone EMFs altered oxygen affinity and tertiary structure of HbA. Furthermore, the decrease of oxygen affinity of HbA corresponded to the EMFs intensity and time of exposure.  相似文献

Hearing acuity can be reduced temporarily after exposure to loud noise, and the physiological responses that occur with exercise may enhance this effect. Currently, it is not known whether short-term reductions in hearing acuity after noise exposure and exercise are a result of temporary changes in auditory function. Therefore, the purpose of this investigation was to determine the acute effects of simultaneous exercise and loud music on hearing acuity and auditory function in young, healthy women. Nine women (age = 22 +/- 5 years, body mass index = 23.9 +/- 2.2, Vo(2)peak = 30.6 +/- 6.0 ml x kg(-1) x min(-1)) with normal hearing thresholds (<20 dB hearing level) underwent each of 3 conditions in a randomized counterbalanced design: (a) loud music exposure of 90 to 95 dB sound pressure level for 20 minutes, (b) exercise at 60% Vo(2)peak on a cycle ergometer for 20 minutes, and (c) simultaneous exercise and music exposure for 20 minutes. Hearing acuity and auditory function were assessed via pure-tone hearing thresholds and distortion product otoacoustic emission amplitudes, respectively, at frequencies of 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 kHz presented in random order before and after each condition. Results indicate that hearing acuity and auditory function remained unaltered after exposure to each condition (p > 0.05). These findings provide evidence that hearing acuity and auditory function in young women do not change after short-term exposure to moderate-intensity exercise and loud music. Thus, listening to loud music with earphones during moderate-intensity exercise does not pose acute hearing health concerns for young physically fit adults with normal hearing.  相似文献

目的:研究6周大强度训练对大鼠肾功能影响及运动性蛋白尿的机制。方法:6周龄SD雄性大鼠36只随机分为:安静对照组(C组,n=12)和大强度训练组(M组,n=24)。大鼠适应性饲养4 d后,C组不进行任何运动,M组采用6周递增负荷游泳训练。每周训练6 d,每天1次。第4周起开始负重(体重的1%)并逐渐递增(体重的6%)。各组大鼠末次训练结束后30 min取单次尿,24 h后腹主静脉取血,取双侧肾脏待测。HE染色观察肾脏肾小球结构,酶联免疫吸附法测定尿总蛋白、尿微量白蛋白、中性粒细胞明胶酶相关脂质运载蛋白,碱性苦味酸法测试尿肌酐,比色法测定血清肌酐、尿素氮,蛋白质免疫印迹法检测肾组织Nephrin蛋白表达量,放射免疫法测试血清睾酮、皮质酮和肾组织及血液中肾素-血管紧张素系统相关指标变化。结果:与C组比较,M组血清睾酮/皮质酮显著降低(P<0.01);尿液蛋白总量、微量白蛋白、微量白蛋白与肌酐比值、中性粒细胞明胶酶相关脂质运载蛋白、血清尿素氮、肌酐均显著升高(P<0.01);肾小球结构明显改变,且Paller评分明显增高(P<0.01);肾组织Nephrin蛋白表达量明显降低(P<0.01);肾脏内部与循环血液中肾素活性、血管紧张素Ⅱ显著增高(P<0.01)。结论:6周大强度训练对大鼠肾功能影响及运动性蛋白尿的机制可能为过度训练诱导肾脏内部及循环系统中肾素-血管紧张素系统持续兴奋,并下调Nephrin蛋白的表达,进而导致肾脏结构与功能异常,出现蛋白尿。  相似文献

The European multicenter project named GUARD involved nine centers and aimed to assess potential changes in auditory function as a consequence of exposure to low-intensity electromagnetic fields (EMFs) produced by GSM cellular phones. Participants were healthy young adults without any evidence of hearing or ear disorders. Auditory function was assessed immediately before and after exposure to EMFs, and only the exposed ear was tested. The procedure was conducted twice in a double blinded design, once with a genuine EMF exposure and once with a sham exposure (at least 24 h apart). Tests for assessment of auditory function were hearing threshold level (HTL), transient otoacoustic emissions (TEOAE), distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE), and auditory brainstem response (ABR). The exposure consisted of speech at a typical conversational level delivered via an earphone to one ear, plus genuine or sham EMF exposure. The EMF exposure used the output of a software-controlled consumer cellular phone at full power for 10 min. A system of phone positioning that allowed participants to freely move their heads without affecting exposure was used. Analysis of the data showed there were no effects of exposure to GSM mobile phone signals on the main measures of the status of the auditory system.  相似文献

Interference between digital wireless phones and hearing aids occurs when the radiofrequency bursts from the phone transmission are demodulated by the hearing aid amplifier. The amplified interference signal is heard as a "buzz" or "static" by the hearing aid wearer. Most research and standards development activity has focused on worst-case scenarios with the phone operating at its maximum power. Since this power level is often not typical in urban and suburban settings, it is of value to determine the impact of lower power levels on the overall level of audible interference. Using a frequency analyzer, and several hearings aids and code division multiple access (CDMA) phones, the audio frequency spectrum of interference was recorded for each phone-aid combination and for a range of power levels producing from no interference to maximum interference. As phone power is increased, the interference signal becomes distinguishable from the ambient noise level and a linear response region is observed in which a specified increase in power output results in a proportional increase in the overall input referenced interference level (OIRIL). As power is increased beyond the linear region, the hearing aid enters a saturation region where an additional power increase results in a reduction or no increase in the OIRIL. The numeric differences in interference documented in this study were used in conjunction with the results of a previous study by the authors to determine the impact of reduced power on speech intelligibility and annoyance. The amount of improvement for a given power reduction depends on the radiofrequency immunity of the hearing aid and is substantial for hearing aids with poor immunity. For high-immunity aids, the level of audible interference remains low even at high phone power levels.  相似文献

According to World Health Organization reports, some three quarters of the world population does not have access to medical imaging. In addition, in developing countries over 50% of medical equipment that is available is not being used because it is too sophisticated or in disrepair or because the health personnel are not trained to use it. The goal of this study is to introduce and demonstrate the feasibility of a new concept in medical imaging that is centered on cellular phone technology and which may provide a solution to medical imaging in underserved areas. The new system replaces the conventional stand-alone medical imaging device with a new medical imaging system made of two independent components connected through cellular phone technology. The independent units are: a) a data acquisition device (DAD) at a remote patient site that is simple, with limited controls and no image display capability and b) an advanced image reconstruction and hardware control multiserver unit at a central site. The cellular phone technology transmits unprocessed raw data from the patient site DAD and receives and displays the processed image from the central site. (This is different from conventional telemedicine where the image reconstruction and control is at the patient site and telecommunication is used to transmit processed images from the patient site). The primary goal of this study is to demonstrate that the cellular phone technology can function in the proposed mode. The feasibility of the concept is demonstrated using a new frequency division multiplexing electrical impedance tomography system, which we have developed for dynamic medical imaging, as the medical imaging modality. The system is used to image through a cellular phone a simulation of breast cancer tumors in a medical imaging diagnostic mode and to image minimally invasive tissue ablation with irreversible electroporation in a medical imaging interventional mode.  相似文献

The increasing use of cellular phones in our society has brought focus on the potential detrimental effects to human health by microwave radiation. The aim of our study was to evaluate the intensity of oxidative stress and the level of neurotransmitters in the brains of fetal rats chronically exposed to cellular phones. The experiment was performed on pregnant rats exposed to different intensities of microwave radiation from cellular phones. Thirty-two pregnant rats were randomly divided into four groups: CG, GL, GM, and GH. CG accepted no microwave radiation, GL group radiated 10 min each time, GM group radiated 30 min, and GH group radiated 60 min. The 3 experimental groups were radiated 3 times a day from the first pregnant day for consecutively 20 days, and on the 21st day, the fetal rats were taken and then the contents of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), malondialdehyde (MDA), noradrenaline (NE), dopamine (DA), and 5-hydroxyindole acetic acid (5-HT) in the brain were assayed. Compared with CG, there were significant differences (P<0.05) found in the contents of SOD, GSH-Px, and MDA in GM and GH; the contents of SOD and GSH-Px decreased and the content of MDA increased. The significant content differences of NE and DA were found in fetal rat brains in GL and GH groups, with the GL group increased and the GH group decreased. Through this study, we concluded that receiving a certain period of microwave radiation from cellular phones during pregnancy has certain harm on fetal rat brains.  相似文献

Both moderate exercise and the soluble oat fiber beta-glucan can increase immune function and decrease risk of infection, but no information exists on their possible combined effects. This study tested the effects of moderate exercise and oat beta-glucan on respiratory infection, macrophage antiviral resistance, and natural killer (NK) cell cytotoxicity. Mice were assigned to four groups: exercise and water, exercise and oat beta-glucan, control water, or control oat beta-glucan. Oat beta-glucan was fed in the drinking water for 10 days before intranasal inoculation of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) or euthanasia. Exercise consisted of treadmill running (1 h/day) for 6 days. Macrophage resistance to HSV-1 was increased with both exercise and oat beta-glucan, whereas NK cell cytotoxicity was only increased with exercise. Exercise was also associated with a 45 and 38% decrease in morbidity and mortality, respectively. Mortality was also decreased with oat beta-glucan, but this effect did not reach statistical significance. No additive effects of exercise and oat beta-glucan were found. These data confirm a positive effect of both moderate exercise and oat beta-glucan on immune function, but only moderate exercise was associated with a significant reduction in the risk of upper respiratory tract infection in this model.  相似文献

目的 研究肾上腺素能受体激动剂对机体细胞免疫功能的作用及下丘脑-垂体-肾上腺轴(HPA轴)在此作用中的地位.方法以刀豆蛋白A(ConA)刺激脾淋巴细胞的增殖活性为细胞免疫功能指标,检测在正常及去肾上腺大鼠海马内注射去甲肾上腺素(noradrenaline,A)对机体细胞免疫功能的影响.结果①在正常大鼠,A(4 μl,.0×10-3mol/L)、β1受体激动剂杜丁胺 (dobutamine,ob,μl,.0×10-3mol/L) 和β2受体激动剂异丙喘宁(metaproterenol,et, μl,.0×10-3mol/L)均可抑制Con A刺激的脾淋巴细胞增殖反应、降低NK细胞的活性,其中NA的作用最强,et 次之,ob的作用最弱.α及β受体阻断剂酚妥拉明(Phen, μl,.6×10-2mol/L) 和心得安(Prop,μl,.6×10-2mol/L)均可部分阻断NA的免疫抑制作用,且Prop的作用较强.②在去肾上腺组,A的免疫抑制作用不明显.结论海马内NA对机体的细胞免疫功能具有明显的抑制作用,此作用由α及β受体共同介导,其中β受体的作用大于α受体,且β2受体的作用大于β1受体.此外,保持肾上腺结构和功能完整在NA调节机体细胞免疫功能作用中具有重要意义.  相似文献

Acute and long-term effects of resistance exercise combined with vascular occlusion on muscular function were investigated. Changes in integrated electromyogram with respect to time (iEMG), vascular resistive index, and plasma lactate concentration were measured in five men either during or after elbow flexion exercises with the proximal end of the arm occluded at 0-100 mmHg. The mean iEMG, postexercise hyperemia, and plasma lactate concentration were all elevated with the increase in occlusion pressure at a low-intensity exercise, whereas they were unchanged with the increase in occlusion pressure at high-intensity exercise. To investigate the long-term effects of low-intensity exercise with occlusion, older women (n = 24) were subjected to a 16-wk exercise training for elbow flexor muscles, in which low-intensity [ approximately 50-30% one repetition maximum (1 RM)] exercise with occlusion at approximately 110 mmHg (LIO), low-intensity exercise without occlusion (LI), and high- to medium-intensity ( approximately 80-50% 1 RM) exercise without occlusion (HI) were performed. Percent increases in both cross-sectional area and isokinetic strength of elbow flexor muscles after LIO were larger than those after LI (P < 0.05) and similar to those after HI. The results suggest that resistance exercise at an intensity even lower than 50% 1 RM is effective in inducing muscular hypertrophy and concomitant increase in strength when combined with vascular occlusion.  相似文献

One of the main problems of the modern medicines within the last 10-15 years has been so-called drug disease. Toxic effect of the aminoglucoside antibiotics and streptomycin on the vestibular and auditory analysers is one of frequent and severe complications of their use. According to the author's observations treatment of 200 patients with streptomycin resulted in affection of their hearing in 40 to 80 cases. The ototoxicity was confirmed by audiograms, while the level of clinical signs and subjective complains did not always coincided with the audiograms. Audiometry should be performed at the beginning of the treatment and before the repeated courses of streptomycin therapy, and later it should be repeated during the treatment course every 10-15 days. Under the experimental conditions low doses of streptomycin used at early stages induced fine damages in the sensor cells of the cochlea which could be detected only histochemically.  相似文献

We measured maximum temperature rises on the side of the face after 6 min of continuous mobile phone operation using two models of AMPS analog phones operating in the 835 MHz band and three early model GSM digital phones operating in the 900 MHz band. For the GSM phones the highest recorded temperature rise difference was 2.3 degrees C and for the AMPS phones it was 4.5 degrees C, both at locations on the cheek. The higher differential temperature rise between AMPS and GSM may reflect the higher maximum average operating power of AMPS (600 mW) versus GSM900 (250 mW). Additionally, we compared temperature changes at a consistent location on the cheek for an AMPS phone that was inoperative (-0.7 degrees C), transmitting at full power (+2.6 degrees C) and in stand-by mode (+2.0 degrees C). Our results suggest that direct RF heating of the skin only contributes a small part of the temperature rise and that most is due to heat conduction from the handset.  相似文献
