The paper presents 21Fusarium species occurring in Poland on the field crops /mostly on cereals, maize, potato and Papilionaceae plants/, woody plants, grasses, vegetables and ornamentals as well as on kernels or seeds of these hosts and soils. Additionally the commonly observed symptoms on above-mentioned plants and the informations about regions of the highest disease occurrence are added.However the paper results mainly from authors’ investigation on theFusarium species occurrence in Poland, it encloses also the available, post-war literature data on the fusariosis in Poland in the past.Majority ofFusarium species cited had been identified according to Nelson et al, taxonomic system. In the conducted studies 13 species ofFusarium were isolated into pure culture from triticale seed. Their pathogenicity was assessed under laboratory and greenhouse conditions. Most of the species studied were highly pathogenic to the first leaf see-dlings of triticale ‘Grado’ and ‘Lasko’ under both sets of conditions. It was shown, that seed-transmitted Fusarium spp. considerably reduced the ability of seeds to germinate and incited seedling blight. On average, triticale ‘Lasko’ was more resistant toFusarium spp. than ‘Grado’, but in some instances a reverse reaction was observed.  相似文献

Mycelium and spores ofMicrodochium nivale /Syn.Fusarium nivale/ were compared according to their ability to infect plants ofLolium perenne. The experiments were carried out according to the “cold chamber” method (Cormack, Lebeau 1956 modified by Pronczuk 1987). Between these two types of inoculum significant differences were found. The spore inoculum did not give any symptoms while the mycelial inoculum incited a severe disease in plants ofLolium perenne during one month of incubation.Under laboratory conditions it was found that the spore cultures ofMicrodochium nivale grew very slowly at 0 – 1°C, whereas their growth at 18 – 20°C was very fast. Growth of the mycelial cultures was not as profoundly affected by temperatures studied as the spore ones.It was concluded that to incite a disease the spore inoculum require longer incubation time than mycelial ones. The mycelial inoculum is more useful for screening of plants for resistsance.  相似文献

In wheat plants of the eultivars “Danubia”, “Agra”, “Selekta” and “Jubilejna” the fungusFusarium graminsarum Schwabe produced toxic metabolite zearalenone/F-2/ which simultaneously influenced the development of plants characterized by a lower germinating capacity, a reduced growth rate and a higher production of side branches. The presence ofFusarium graminearum was confirmed only in infected plants after plating of organs (root, stem base, stem) and soil on agar medium. The mycotoxin production is dependent on the pathogen development in host plants. The F-2 level progressed from the root into the soil, stem base and stem. The highest F-2 production was identified in cultivar “Selekta” the lowest in cultivar “Danubia”. The highest F-2 level (in all wheat eultivars) was identified in the stem base.  相似文献

Conidia of the speciesFusarium culmorum /W.G.Sm./ Sacc. andFusarium graminearum Schwabe are characterized by variability in zearalenone production and dimensions depending on the substrate. The sporulation of isolates from some wheat eultivars have been deprived in vivo and in vitro in the first passage, but not their pathogenicity and toxic metabolites production. Nonsporulating strains produced lower quantités of zearalenone than sporulating ones. Liquid filtrates of such nonsporulating strains had a high phytotoxic effect on wheat caryopses. The crystalline toxin DAS /0,25 ug/ml/ had low phytotoxic effect on wheat caryopses.  相似文献

Background  

Recovery patterns of upper extremity motor function have been described in several longitudinal studies, but most of these studies have had selected samples, short follow up times or insufficient outcomes on motor function. The general understanding is that improvements in upper extremity occur mainly during the first month after the stroke incident and little if any, significant recovery can be gained after 3-6 months. The purpose of this study is to describe the recovery of upper extremity function longitudinally in a non-selected sample initially admitted to a stroke unit with first ever stroke, living in Gothenburg urban area.  相似文献

Peach is being developed as a model organism for Rosaceae, an economically important family that includes fruits and ornamental plants such as apple, pear, strawberry, cherry, almond and rose. The genomics and genetics data of peach can play a significant role in the gene discovery and the genetic understanding of related species. Stalk rot is one of the most devastating diseases in maize worldwide. In our previous study, two QTLs, a major qRfg1 and a minor qRfg2, were identified in the resistant inbred line ‘1145’ to confer resistance to Gibberella stalk rot. In the present study, we report on fine-mapping of the minor qRfg2 that is located on chromosome 1 and account for ~8.9% of the total phenotypic variation. A total of 22 markers were developed in the qRfg2 region to resolve recombinants. The progeny-test mapping strategy was developed to accurately determine the phenotypes of all recombinants for fine-mapping of the qRfg2 locus. This fine-mapping process was performed from BC4F1 to BC8F1 generations to narrow down the qRfg2 locus into ~300 kb, flanked by the markers SSRZ319 and CAPSZ459. A predicted gene in the mapped region, coding for an auxin-regulated protein, is believed to be a candidate for qRfg2. The qRfg2 locus could steadily increase the resistance percentage by ~12% across different backcross generations, suggesting its usefulness in enhancing maize resistance against Gibberella stalk rot.  相似文献

Abstract

Gibberella stalk rot, caused by the fungal pathogen Fusarium graminearum, severely affects maize yield and grain quality worldwide. To identify more resistance quantitative trait loci (QTLs) against this disease, we analyzed a recombinant inbred line (RIL) population derived from a cross between resistant H127R and susceptible C7-2 inbred lines. Within this population, maize resistance to Gibberella stalk rot had high broad-sense heritability. A major QTL, qRfg3, on chromosome 3 was consistently detected across three field trials, accounting for 10.7–19.4% of the total phenotypic variation. Using a progeny-based sequential fine-mapping strategy, we narrowed qRfg3 down to an interval of ~350 kb. We further demonstrated that qRfg3 is a recessive resistance locus to Gibberella stalk rot that reduced the disease severity index by ~26.6%. Both the gene location and recessive genetic mode distinguish qRfg3 from other stalk rot resistance loci. Hence, qRfg3 is valuable as a complement to existing resistance QTLs to improve maize resistance to Gibberella stalk rot.

Pinus taeda is one of the main timber trees in Brazil, occupying 1.8 million ha with an annual productivity of 25–30 m3 ha−1. Another important species is Araucaria angustifolia, belonging to the fragile Rainforest biome, which for decades has been a major source of timber in Brazil. Some diseases that affect the roots and/or the stem of these trees and cause “damping-off” of the seedlings, with economic and environmental losses for the forest sector, are caused by the plant pathogenic fungi Fusarium sp. or Armillaria sp. This research project intended to isolate actinobacteria from the Araucaria rhizosphere, which present an antagonistic effect against these fungi. After the selection of the best pathogen inhibitors, morphologic characteristics, enzyme production, and their effect on the growth of Pinus taeda were studied. The actinobacteria were tested for their antagonistic capacity against Fusarium sp. in Petri plates with PDA as substrate. The inhibition zone was measured after 3, 5, 7, and 10 days. Of all the isolates tested, only two of them maintained inhibition zones up to 4 mm for 10 days. The inhibition of Armillaria sp. was tested in liquid medium and also in Petri dishes through the evaluation of the number of the fungal rhizomorphs in dual culture with the actinobacteria. It was found that all five isolates were able to inhibit the rhizomorph production, with the best performance of the isolate A43, which was capable of inhibiting both fungi, Fusarium and Armillaria. In a greenhouse experiment, the effect of five isolates on the growth of Pinus taeda seedlings was tested. Plant height, stem diameter, root and shoot dry matter were determined. The Streptomyces isolate A43 doubled plant growth. These results may lead to the development of new technologies in the identification of still unknown bacterial metabolites and new management techniques to control forest plant diseases.  相似文献

We have analyzed the expression patterns of two Fox genes, FoxE and FoxQ, in the ascidian Ciona intestinalis. Expression of Ci-FoxE was specific to the endostyle of adults, being prominent in the thyroid-equivalent region of zone 7. Ci-FoxQ was expressed in several endodermal organs of adult ascidians, such as the endostyle, branchial sac and esophagus. In the endostyle, the pattern of Ci-FoxQ expression was similar to that of CiTTF-1, being prominent in the thyroid-equivalent regions of zones 7 and 8. Therefore, these Fox genes may perform thyroid-equivalent functions in the ascidian endostyle.Edited by N. Satoh  相似文献

In an attempt to define the pattern of developmental expression of AP-2rep and AP-2 in Xenopus embryos, we cloned a Xenopus AP-2rep cDNA. The AP-2rep message was localized in the organizer region at the gastrula stage whereas AP-2 was expressed ventro-laterally in the animal hemisphere. Later, AP-2rep was expressed in the entire neural tissue at the neurula stage while AP-2 was predominantly expressed in the cranial neural crest areas. The endogenous expression of AP-2 in the neural crest area was diminished by ectopic injection of AP-2rep RNA, suggesting a role for AP-2rep in the differentiation of neural tissues by restricting the expression of AP-2 in the Xenopus embryo.  相似文献

Two repeated DNA sequences isolated from a partial genomic DNA library of Helianthus annuus, p HaS13 and p HaS211, were shown to represent portions of the int gene of a Ty3 /gypsy retroelement and of the RNase-Hgene of a Ty1 /copia retroelement, respectively. Southern blotting patterns obtained by hybridizing the two probes to BglII- or DraI-digested genomic DNA from different Helianthus species showed p HaS13 and p HaS211 were parts of dispersed repeats at least 8 and 7 kb in length, respectively, that were conserved in all species studied. Comparable hybridization patterns were obtained in all species with p HaS13. By contrast, the patterns obtained by hybridizing p HaS211 clearly differentiated annual species from perennials. The frequencies of p HaS13- and p HaS211-related sequences in different species were 4.3x10(4)-1.3x10(5) copies and 9.9x10(2)-8.1x10(3) copies per picogram of DNA, respectively. The frequency of p HaS13-related sequences varied widely within annual species, while no significant difference was observed among perennial species. Conversely, the frequency variation of p HaS211-related sequences was as large within annual species as within perennials. Sequences of both families were found to be dispersed along the length of all chromosomes in all species studied. However, Ty3 /gypsy-like sequences were localized preferentially at the centromeric regions, whereas Ty1/ copia-like sequences were less represented or absent around the centromeres and plentiful at the chromosome ends. These findings suggest that the two sequence families played a role in Helianthusgenome evolution and species divergence, evolved independently in the same genomic backgrounds and in annual or perennial species, and acquired different possible functions in the host genomes.  相似文献

The physiological effects of Fusarium oxysporum on in-root parasitic weed, Orobanche spp. (broomrape) with references to change in plant hormones and secondary plant constituents were investigated. The levels of IAA, GA, ABA and JA in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group, while the level of SA was higher in the experimental group. In secondary metabolic studies, the quantities of various phenols were measured in the two groups and catechin, syringic acid and p-coumaric acid amounts were significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group, unlike gallic acid which have a lower amount. Consequently, in the light of all data, it was concluded that Fusarium oxysporum (1) causes heavy hormonal disorder, (2) triggered only SA-mediated defense and (3) induced intensively accumulation of phenolic substances in orobanche. Fusarium oxysporum causes lethal physiological damage on Orobanche spp.  相似文献

Seventeen isolates of Metarhizium anisopliae (Metschnikoff) Sorokin and two isolates of Beauveria bassiana (Balsamo) Vuillemin were evaluated for their pathogenicity against the tobacco spider mite, Tetranychus evansi Baker & Pritchard. In the laboratory all the fungal isolates were pathogenic to the adult female mites, causing mortality between 22.1 and 82.6%. Isolates causing more than 70% mortality were subjected to dose–response mortality bioassays. The lethal concentration causing 50% mortality (LC50) values ranged between 0.7×107 and 2.5×107 conidia ml−1. The lethal time to 50% mortality (LT50) values of the most active isolates of B. bassiana and M. anisopliae strains varied between 4.6 and 5.8 days. Potted tomato plants were artificially infested with T. evansi and treated with B. bassiana isolate GPK and M. anisopliae isolate ICIPE78. Both fungal isolates reduced the population density of mites as compared to untreated controls. However, conidia formulated in oil outperformed the ones formulated in water. This study demonstrates the prospects of pathogenic fungi for the management of T. evansi.  相似文献

Studying Pneumocystis has proven to be a challenge from the perspective of propagating a significant amount of the pathogen in a facile manner. The study of several fungal pathogens has been aided by the use of invertebrate model hosts. Our efforts to infect the invertebrate larvae Galleria mellonella with Pneumocystis proved futile since P. murina neither caused disease nor was able to proliferate within G. mellonella. It did, however, show that the pathogen could be rapidly cleared from the host.  相似文献

Wheat Fusarium Head Blight (FHB), mainly caused by Fusarium graminearum (F.g), is a destructive fungal disease worldwide. FHB can not only cause considerable reduction in yield, but more seriously, can contaminate grain by trichothecene toxins released by the fungus. Here, we report new insights into the function and underlying mechanisms of a UDP-glycosyltransferase gene, Ta-UGT 3 , that is involved in FHB resistance in wheat. In our previous study, Ta-UGT 3 was found to enhance host tolerance against deoxynivalenol (DON) in Arabidopsis. In this study, four transgenic lines over-expressing Ta-UGT 3 in a FHB highly susceptible wheat variety, Alondra’s, were obtained and characterized. 3 years of assays using single floret inoculation with F.g indicated that all four transgenic lines exhibited significantly enhanced type II resistance to FHB and less DON accumulation in the grains compared to the untransformed control. Histological observation using GFP labelled F.g was in agreement with the above test results since over-expression of Ta-UGT 3 dramatically inhibited expansion of F.g. To explore the putative mechanism of resistance mediated by Ta-UGT 3 , microarray analysis, qRT-PCR and hormone measurements were performed. Microarray analysis showed that DON up-regulated genes, such as TaNPR1, in the susceptible control, and down-regulated genes in F.g inoculated transgenic lines, while qRT-PCR showed that some defence related genes were up-regulated in F.g inoculated transgenic lines. Ta-UGT 3 over-expression also changed the contents of the endogenous hormones SA and JA in the spikes. These data suggest that Ta-UGT 3 positively regulates the defence responses to F.g, perhaps by regulating defence-related and DON-induced downstream genes.  相似文献
