This study examined the effectiveness of a short-duration but high-intensity exercise countermeasure in combination with a novel oral volume load in preventing bed rest deconditioning and orthostatic intolerance. Bed rest reduces work capacity and orthostatic tolerance due in part to cardiac atrophy and decreased stroke volume. Twenty seven healthy subjects completed 5 wk of -6 degree head down bed rest. Eighteen were randomized to daily rowing ergometry and biweekly strength training while nine remained sedentary. Measurements included cardiac mass, invasive pressure-volume relations, maximal upright exercise capacity, and orthostatic tolerance. Before post-bed rest orthostatic tolerance and exercise testing, nine exercise subjects were given 2 days of fludrocortisone and increased salt. Sedentary bed rest led to cardiac atrophy (125 ± 23 vs. 115 ± 20 g; P < 0.001); however, exercise preserved cardiac mass (128 ± 38 vs. 137 ± 34 g; P = 0.002). Exercise training preserved left ventricular chamber compliance, whereas sedentary bed rest increased stiffness (180 ± 170%, P = 0.032). Orthostatic tolerance was preserved only when exercise was combined with volume loading (-10 ± 22%, P = 0.169) but not with exercise (-14 ± 43%, P = 0.047) or sedentary bed rest (-24 ± 26%, P = 0.035) alone. Rowing and supplemental strength training prevent cardiovascular deconditioning during prolonged bed rest. When combined with an oral volume load, orthostatic tolerance is also preserved. This combined countermeasure may be an ideal strategy for prolonged spaceflight, or patients with orthostatic intolerance.  相似文献

The maximal rate of O? consumption (VO? max) constitutes one of the oldest fitness indexes established for the measure of cardiorespiratory fitness and aerobic performance. Procedures have been developed in which VO? max is estimated from physiological responses during submaximal exercise. Generally, VO? max is estimated using the classical renowned Astrand-Ryhming test. In young adults, poor fitness and low aerobic performance are often associated with a sedentary lifestyle, which is a well-described factor for the development of obesity and its related disorders such as cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes. In the Indian Ocean, the inhabitants of La Reunion Island, a French overseas department, exhibit an increasing prevalence of obesity and type 2 diabetes. At the University of La Reunion, a new laboratory course involving students was designed to teach the indirect evaluation of their VO? max from the classical Astrand-Ryhming test and using a cycle ergometer as the exercise mode. Inverse and significant correlations were established between the students' fat mass percentages and their VO? max and between their waist-to-hip ratio and VO? max as well. Results from the international physical activity questionnaire showed that most participants in this laboratory were sedentary students. Therefore, this laboratory makes the students practice and understand the use of a classical test to estimate their VO? max. It also alerts them to the correlation between a sedentary lifestyle and higher body fat content. This exercise allowed students to use a scientific method to engage the problem of sedentary lifestyle, which is a real world issue.  相似文献

Several investigations demonstrated that aerobic fitness is associated with a tendency towards orthostatic hypotension whereas other reports did not show any differences in cardiovascular adjustment to orthostatic challenges between endurance trained and sedentary subjects. In the present work, the time course of changes in heart rate (HR), systolic time intervals (STI), stroke volume (SV), cardiac output (CO) and blood pressure was studied during 8 minutes following standing up from supine position in 7 healthy volunteers before and after 10 weeks of endurance training on bicycle ergometer. Impedance cardiography was used for measurement of cardiac postural responses. The training program applied in this study increased the subjects' aerobic capacity (VO2max) by approx. 18%. After training, the steady-state supine HR and contribution of the pre-ejection period and ejection time to the total R-R interval in ECG were lowered while SV was significantly increased. No significant training-induced changes were found in magnitude and time-courses of HR, STI, SV and CO changes following standing up. Diastolic blood pressure during standing was greater after than before training. It is concluded that the short-time endurance training does not affect adversely cardiovascular orthostatic response and may even improve orthostatic tolerance due to the augmentation of diastolic blood pressure response.  相似文献

In this study we determined whether the decline in exercise stroke volume (SV) observed when endurance-trained men stop training for a few weeks is associated with a reduced blood volume. Additionally, we determined the extent to which cardiovascular function could be restored in detrained individuals by expanding blood volume to a similar level as when trained. Maximal O2 uptake (VO2max) was determined, and cardiac output (CO2 rebreathing) was measured during upright cycling at 50-60% VO2max in eight endurance-trained men before and after 2-4 wk of inactivity. Detraining produced a 9% decline in blood volume (5,177 to 4,692 ml; P less than 0.01) during upright exercise, due primarily to a 12% lowering (P less than 0.01) of plasma volume (PV; Evans blue dye technique). SV was reduced by 12% (P less than 0.05) and VO2max declined 6% (P less than 0.01), whereas heart rate (HR) and total peripheral resistance (TPR) during submaximal exercise were increased 11% (P less than 0.01) and 8% (P less than 0.05), respectively. When blood volume was expanded to a similar absolute level in the trained and detrained state (approximately 5,500 +/- 200 ml) by infusing a 6% dextran solution in saline, the effects of detraining on cardiovascular response were reversed. SV and VO2max were increased (P less than 0.05) by PV expansion in the detrained state to within 2-4% of trained values. Additionally, HR and TPR during submaximal exercise were lowered to near trained values. These findings indicate that the decline in cardiovascular function following a few weeks of detraining is largely due to a reduction in blood volume, which appears to limit ventricular filling during upright exercise.  相似文献

Due to prolonged bed rest (BR), maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) might be decreased by above -8%, even if a moderate supine bicycle exercise (SBE) was performed for 45 to 60 minutes every day during BR. However, the decrement of VO2max was lowered to below -5% by isometric training and using a reverse gradient garment. Further it was rather slightly increased by SBE training with gradually increasing load from 40% to 90% VO2max. The facts suggest the dependency of the decrease of VO2max during BR on exercising muscle mass (MM) and strength. In the present study, therefore, the effects of isokinetic knee extension (Ik-KnE) training on VO2max, exercising MM and muscle contraction strength during BR were investigated. Then, the relationships between changes in VO2max and the muscle mass and strength were considered.  相似文献

Physiological studies of long-term cardiovascular adaptation to exercise require training regimens that give robust conditioning effects and adequate testing procedures to quantify the outcome. We developed a valid and reproducible protocol for measuring maximal oxygen uptake (VO(2 max)), which was reached at a 25 degrees inclination with a respiratory exchange ratio > 1.05 and blood lactate > 6 mmol/l. The effect of intensity-controlled aerobic endurance training was studied in adult female and male rats that ran 2 h/day, 5 days/wk, in intervals of 8 min at 85-90% of VO(2 max) and 2 min at 50-60% of VO(2 max), with adjustment of exercise level according to VO(2 max) every week. After 7 wk, the increase in VO(2 max) plateaued at 60-70% above sedentary controls. Ventricular weights and myocyte length were up 25-30% and 6-12%, respectively. Work economy, oxygen pulse, and heart rate were sufficiently changed to indicate substantial cardiovascular adaptation. The model mimics important human responses to training and could be used in future studies on cellular, molecular, and integrative mechanisms of improved cardiovascular function.  相似文献

To determine the effect of posture on maximal O2 uptake (VO2 max) and other cardiorespiratory adaptations to exercise training, 16 male subjects were trained using high-intensity interval and prolonged continuous cycling in either the supine or upright posture 40 min/day 4 days/wk for 8 wk and 7 male subjects served as non-training controls. VO2 max measured during upright cycling and supine cycling, respectively, increased significantly (P less than 0.05) by 16.1 +/- 3.4 and 22.9 +/- 3.4% in the supine training group (STG) and by 14.6 +/- 2.0 and 6.0 +/- 2.0% in the upright training group (UTG). The increase in VO2 max measured during supine cycling was significantly greater (P less than 0.05) in the STG than in the UTG. The increase in VO2 max in the UTG was significantly greater (P less than 0.05) when measured during upright exercise than during supine exercise. However, there was no significant difference in posture-specific VO2 max adaptations in the STG. A postural specificity was also evident in other maximal cardiorespiratory variables (ventilation, CO2 production, and respiratory exchange ratio). In the UTG, maximal heart rate decreased significantly (P less than 0.05) only during supine cycling; there was no significant difference in maximal heart rate after training in the STG. We conclude that posture affects maximal cardiorespiratory adaptations to cycle training. Additionally, supine training is more effective than upright training in increasing maximal cardiorespiratory responses measured during supine exercise, and the effects of supine training generalize to the upright posture to a greater extent than the effects of upright training generalize to the supine posture.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

Computer simulation of blood flow and O2 consumption (QO2) of leg muscles and of blood flow through other vascular compartments was made to estimate the potential effects of circulatory adjustments to moderate leg exercise on pulmonary O2 uptake (VO2) kinetics in humans. The model revealed a biphasic rise in pulmonary VO2 after the onset of constant-load exercise. The length of the first phase represented a circulatory transit time from the contracting muscles to the lung. The duration and magnitude of rise in VO2 during phase 1 were determined solely by the rate of rise in venous return and by the venous volume separating the muscle from the lung gas exchange sites. The second phase of VO2 represented increased muscle metabolism (QO2) of exercise. With the use of a single-exponential model for muscle QO2 and physiological estimates of other model parameters, phase 2 VO2 could be well described as a first-order exponential whose time constant was within 2 s of that for muscle QO2. The use of unphysiological estimates for certain parameters led to responses for VO2 during phase 2 that were qualitatively different from QO2. It is concluded that 1) the normal response of VO2 in humans to step increases in muscle work contains two components or phases, the first determined by cardiovascular phenomena and the second primarily reflecting muscle metabolism and 2) the kinetics of VO2 during phase 2 can be used to estimate the kinetics of muscle QO2. The simulation results are consistent with previously published profiles of VO2 kinetics for square-wave transients.  相似文献

This study examined the effects of acclimatization to 4,300 m altitude on changes in plasma ammonia concentrations with 30 min of submaximal [75% maximal O2 uptake (VO2max)] cycle exercise. Human test subjects were divided into a sedentary (n = 6) and active group (n = 5). Maximal uptake (VO2max) was determined at sea level and at high altitude (HA; 4,300 m) after acute (t less than 24 h) and chronic (t = 13 days) exposure. The VO2max of both groups decreased 32% with acute HA when compared with sea level. In the sedentary group, VO2max decreased an additional 16% after 13 days of continuous residence at 4,300 m, whereas VO2max in the active group showed no further change. In both sedentary and active subjects, plasma ammonia concentrations were increased (P less than 0.05) over resting levels immediately after submaximal exercise at sea level as well as during acute HA exposure. With chronic HA exposure, the active group showed no increase in plasma ammonia immediately after submaximal exercise, whereas the postexercise ammonia in the sedentary group was elevated but to a lesser extent than at sea level or with acute HA exposure. Thus postexercise plasma ammonia concentration was decreased with altitude acclimatization when compared with ammonia concentrations following exercise performed at the same relative intensity at sea level or acute HA. This decrease in ammonia accumulation may contribute to enhanced endurance performance and altered substrate utilization with exercise following acclimatization to altitude.  相似文献

Increase in atrial natriuretic peptide in response to physical exercise   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Circulating atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) level was determined during physical exercise to investigate the correlation between changes in ANP level and heart rate increases. Six subjects exercised at a work level of 75% VO2max for 30 min, two also performed two successive exercises at 75% VO2max while two more exercised for longer at 55% VO2max. Plasma ANP levels and heart rate increased in all the exercising subjects. At the end of the exercise, the ANP level fell immediately, suggesting an immediate reduction in ANP secretion by the heart. Pre-exercise values were reached after 30 min. Successive exercises gave the same heart rate related ANP patterns without previous secretory episodes having any effect. These results lead to the conclusion that ANP intervenes in the cardiovascular adjustments to exercise.  相似文献

This study compared the body water turnover in endurance athletes and age-matched sedentary men. Eight competitive endurance athletes (20.8+/-1.9 yr) and age-matched eight sedentary men (21.6+/-2.5 yr) participated in this study. Total body water and body water turnover were measured using the deuterium (D(2)O) dilution technique. Urine samples were obtained every day for 10 days after oral administration of D(2)O. The day-by-day concentrations were used to calculate the biological half-life of D(2)O and body water turnover. Maximal oxygen uptake (VO(2max)) and oxygen uptake corresponding to ventilatory threshold (VO(2VT)) as an index of aerobic capacity were determined during a graded exercise test. Both VO(2max) and VO(2VT) were higher in the exercise group than in the sedentary group (P<0.05). The biological half-life of D(2)O was significantly shorter in the exercise group than in the sedentary group (5.89+/-0.81 days vs. 7.52+/-0.77 days, P<0.05), and the percentage of the body water turnover was significantly higher in the exercise group than in the sedentary group (11.99+/-1.96% vs. 9.39+/-1.21%, P<0.05). The body water turnover was correlated with VO(2max) and VO(2VT), respectively (P<0.05). Based on these findings, this study speculates that a level of physical activity may induce a body water turnover higher in the healthy state, since the better trained subjects have a higher body water turnover.  相似文献

To evaluate the effect of endurance training on ventilatory function in older individuals, 1) 14 master athletes (MA) [age 63 +/- 2 yr (mean +/- SD); maximum O2 uptake (VO2max) 52.1 +/- 7.9 ml . kg-1 . min-1] were compared with 14 healthy male sedentary controls (CON) (age 63 +/- 3 yr; VO2max of 27.6 +/- 3.4 ml . kg-1 . min-1), and 2) 11 sedentary healthy men and women, age 63 +/- 2 yr, were reevaluated after 12 mo of endurance training that increased their VO2max 25%. MA had a significantly lower ventilatory response to submaximal exercise at the same O2 uptake (VE/VO2) and greater maximal voluntary ventilation (MVV), maximal exercise ventilation (VEmax), and ratio of VEmax to MVV than CON. Except for MVV, all of these parameters improved significantly in the previously sedentary subjects in response to training. Hypercapnic ventilatory response (HCVR) at rest and the ventilatory equivalent for CO2 (VE/VCO2) during submaximal exercise were similar for MA and CON and unaffected by training. We conclude that the increase in VE/VO2 during submaximal exercise observed with aging can be reversed by endurance training, and that after training, previously sedentary older individuals breathe at the same percentage of MVV during maximal exercise as highly trained athletes of similar age.  相似文献

The roles of absolute and relative oxygen uptake (VO2 and percent of muscle group specific VO2 max) as determinants of the cardiovascular and ventilatory responses to exercise over a wide range of active muscle mass have not previously been defined. Six healthy men performed four types of dynamic exercise--one-arm curl, one-arm cranking, and one- and two-leg cycling at four different relative work loads--25, 50, 75, and 100% of VO2 max for the corresponding muscle group. VO2 during maximal one-arm curl, one-arm cranking, and one-leg cycling averaged 20, 50, and 75%, respectively, of that for maximal two-leg cycling. Cardiac output was linearly related to VO2 with a similar slope and intercept for each type of exercise. Heart rate at a given %VO2 max was higher with larger active muscle mass. In relation to %VO2 max, systemic resistance was lower and plasma catecholamine levels were higher with larger active muscle mass. The cardiovascular responses to exercise are determined to a large extent by the active muscle mass and the absolute oxygen uptake, with the principal feature appearing to be the tight linkage between systemic oxygen transport and utilization.  相似文献

This study investigated the effects of intensity and duration of exercise on lymphocyte proliferation as a measure of immunologic function in men of defined fitness. Three fitness groups--low [maximal O2 uptake (VO2max) = 44.9 +/- 1.5 ml O2.kg-1.min-1 and sedentary], moderate (VO2max = 55.2 +/- 1.6 ml O2.kg-1.min-1 and recreationally active), and high (VO2max = 63.3 +/- 1.8 ml O2.kg-1.min-1 and endurance trained)--and a mixed control group (VO2max = 52.4 +/- 2.3 ml O2.kg-1.min-1) participated in the study. Subjects completed four randomly ordered cycle ergometer rides: ride 1, 30 min at 65% VO2max; ride 2, 60 min at 30% VO2max; ride 3, 60 min at 75% VO2max; and ride 4, 120 min at 65% VO2max. Blood samples were obtained at various times before and after the exercise sessions. Lymphocyte responses to the T cell mitogen concanavalin A were determined at each sample time through the incorporation of radiolabeled thymidine [( 3H]TdR). Despite differences in resting levels of [3H]TdR uptake, a consistent depression in mitogenesis was present 2 h after an exercise bout in all fitness groups. The magnitude of the reduction in T cell mitogenesis was not affected by an increase in exercise duration. A trend toward greater reduction was present in the highly fit group when exercise intensity was increased. The reduction in lymphocyte proliferation to the concanavalin A mitogen after exercise was a short-term phenomenon with recovery to resting (preexercise) values 24 h after cessation of the work bout. These data suggest that single sessions of submaximal exercise transiently reduce lymphocyte function in men and that this effect occurs irrespective of subject fitness level.  相似文献

On the basis of cross-sectional data, we previously reported that the absolute, but not the relative (%), rate of decline in maximal oxygen consumption (VO(2 max)) with age is greater in endurance-trained compared with healthy sedentary women. We tested this hypothesis by using a longitudinal approach. Eight sedentary (63 +/- 2 yr at follow-up) and 16 endurance-trained (57 +/- 2) women were reevaluated after a mean follow-up period of 7 yr. At baseline, VO(2 max) was ~70% higher in endurance-trained women (48.1 +/- 1.7 vs. 28.1 +/- 0.8 ml. kg(-1). min(-1). yr(-1)). At follow-up, body mass, fat-free mass, maximal respiratory exchange ratio, and maximal rating of perceived exertion were not different from baseline in either group. The absolute rate of decline in VO(2 max) was twice as great (P < 0.01) in the endurance-trained (-0.84 +/- 0.15 ml. kg(-1). min(-1). yr(-1)) vs. sedentary (-0.40 +/- 0.12 ml. kg(-1). min(-1). yr(-1)) group, but the relative rates of decline were not different (-1.8 +/- 0.3 vs. -1.5 +/- 0.4% per year). Differences in rates of decline in VO(2 max) were not related to changes in body mass or maximal heart rate. However, among endurance-trained women, the relative rate of decline in VO(2 max) was positively related to reductions in training volume (r = 0.63). Consistent with this, the age-related reduction in VO(2 max) in a subgroup of endurance-trained women who maintained or increased training volume was not different from that of sedentary women. These longitudinal data indicate that the greater decrease in maximal aerobic capacity with advancing age observed in middle-aged and older endurance-trained women in general compared with their sedentary peers is due to declines in habitual exercise in some endurance-trained women. Endurance-trained women who maintain or increase training volume demonstrated age-associated declines in maximal aerobic capacity not different from healthy sedentary women.  相似文献

A characteristic notch in the heart rate (fc) on-response at the beginning of square-wave exercise is described in 7 very fit marathon runners and 12 sedentary young men, during cycle tests at 30% and 60% of maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max). The fc notch revealed a fc overshoot with respect to the fc values predicted from exponential beat-by-beat fitted models. While at 30% of VO2max all subjects showed a fc overshoot, at 60% of VO2max it occurred in the marathon runners but not in the sedentary subjects. The mean time of occurrence of the fc overshoot from the onset of the exercise was 16.7 (SD 4.7) s and 12.2 (SD 3.2) s at 30% of VO2max in the runners and the sedentary subjects respectively, and 23.8 (SD 8.8) s at 60% of VO2max in the runners. The amplitude of the overshoot, with respect to rest, was 41 (SD 12) beats.min-1 and 31 (SD 4) beats.min-1 at 30% of VO2max in the runners and the sedentary subjects respectively, and 46 (SD 19) beats.min-1 at 60% of VO2max in the runners. The existence and the amplitude of the fc overshoot may have been related to central command and muscle heart reflex mechanisms and thus may have been indicators of changes in the balance between sympathetic and parasympathetic activity occurring in fit and unfit subjects.  相似文献

Chromium excretion of eight trained and five sedentary men was determined on rest days and after exercise to exhaustion at 90% of maximum O2 consumption (VO2max) to determine if degree of physical fitness affects urinary Cr losses. Subjects were fed a constant daily diet containing approximately 9 micrograms Cr/1,000 kcal. VO2max of the trained runners was in the good or above range based on their age and that of the sedentary subjects was average or below. While consuming the control diet, basal urinary Cr excretion of subjects who exercise regularly was significantly lower than that of the sedentary control subjects, 0.09 +/- 0.01 and 0.21 +/- 0.03 microgram/day (mean +/- SE), respectively. When subjects consumed self-chosen diets, basal urinary Cr excretion of the trained subjects was also significantly lower than that of the untrained subjects. Daily urinary Cr excretion of trained subjects was significantly higher on the day of a single exercise bout at 90% VO2max compared with nonexercise days, 0.12 +/- 0.02 and 0.09 +/- 0.01 microgram/day, respectively. Urinary Cr excretion of sedentary subjects was not altered after controlled exercise. These data demonstrate that basal urinary Cr excretion and excretion in response to exercise are related to VO2max and therefore degree of physical fitness.  相似文献

The hemodynamic response to maximal exercise was determined in rats with a chronic myocardial infarction (MI) that were subjected to 6-8 wk of high-intensity sprint training (HIST) or limited exercise activity (sedentary control). Training was performed 6 days/wk and consisted of five 1-min bouts of treadmill running at work loads (15% grade, 97 m/min) in excess of the animal's maximal O2 uptake (VO2max). The left ventricular infarct size for the HIST and sedentary control rats was 35 +/- 4 and 34 +/- 3% of the total endocardial circumference, respectively. VO2max was significantly greater for MI rats subjected to the HIST paradigm than for sedentary control rats. This increase in VO2max was due to an increase in the maximal stroke volume that could be generated by the HIST rat during exercise, inasmuch as the maximal heart rate response and the ability to extract O2 from the blood were similar between the two groups of rats. Citrate synthase activities measured in the plantaris muscle of the HIST and sedentary control rats were similar. These results suggest that the increase in VO2max produced with HIST in MI rats may be linked to changes in central cardiac function, as indicated by the increase in maximal stroke volume that could be generated by the MI rat during maximal exercise conditions.  相似文献

Lifestyle habits, such as exercise, may significantly influence risk of major vascular thrombotic events. The risk of primary cardiac arrest has been shown to transiently increase during vigorous exercise, whereas regular moderate-intensity exercise is associated with an overall reduced risk of cardiovascular diseases. What are the mechanisms underlying these paradoxical effects of vigorous exercise versus exercise training on thrombotic modification? This review analyzes research regarding effects and their underlying mechanisms of acute exercise, endurance training, and deconditioning on platelets, coagulation, and fibrinolysis. Evidence suggests that (i) light, acute exercise ( < or = 49% VO(2 max)) does not affect platelet reactivity and coagulation and increases fibrinolytic activity; (ii) moderate, acute exercise (50 to approximately 74% VO(2 max)) suppresses platelet reactivity and enhances fibrinolysis, which remains unchanged in the coagulation system; and, (iii) strenuous, acute exercise ( > or = 75% VO(2 max)) enhances both platelet reactivity and coagulation, simultaneously promoting fibrinolytic activity. Therefore, moderate exercise is likely a safe and effective exercise dosage for minimizing risk of cardiovascular diseases by inducing beneficial anti-thrombotic changes. Moreover, moderate-intensity exercise training reduces platelet reactivity and enhances fibrinolysis at rest, also attenuating enhanced platelet reactivity and augmenting hyper-fibrinolytic activity during strenuous exercise. However, these favorable effects of exercise training on thrombotic modification return to a pre-training state after a period of deconditioning. These findings can aid in determining appropriate exercise regimes to prevent early thrombotic events and further hinder the cardiovascular disease progression.  相似文献

In this study we have evaluated the effect of maximal incremental cycling exercise (IE) on the systemic release of prostacyclin (PGI(2)), assessed as plasma 6-keto-PGF(1alpha) concentration in young healthy men. Eleven physically active - untrained men (mean +/- S.D.) aged 22.7 +/- 2.1 years; body mass 76.3 +/- 9.1 kg; BMI 23.30 +/- 2.18 kg . m(-2); maximal oxygen uptake (VO(2max)) 46.5 +/- 3.9 ml . kg(-1) . min(-1), performed an IE test until exhaustion. Plasma concentrations of 6-keto-PGF(1alpha), lactate, and cytokines were measured in venous blood samples taken prior to the exercise and at the exhaustion. The net exercise-induced increase in 6-keto-PGF(1alpha) concentration, expressed as the difference between the end-exercise minus pre-exercise concentration positively correlated with VO(2max) (r=0.78, p=0.004) as well as with the net VO(2) increase at exhaustion (r=0.81, p=0.003), but not with other respiratory, cardiac, metabolic or inflammatory parameters of the exercise (minute ventilation, heart rate, plasma lactate, IL-6 or TNF-alpha concentrations). The exercise-induced increase in 6-keto-PGF(1alpha) concentration?? was significantly higher (p=0.008) in a group of subjects (n=5) with the highest VO(2max) when compared to the group of subjects with the lowest VO(2max), in which no increase in 6-keto-PGF(1alpha) concentration was found. In conclusion, we demonstrated, to our knowledge for the first time, that exercise-induced release of PGI(2) in young healthy men correlates with VO(2max), suggesting that vascular capacity to release PGI(2) in response to physical exercise represents an important factor characterizing exercise tolerance. Moreover, we postulate that the impairment of exercise-induced release of PGI(2) leads to the increased cardiovascular hazard of vigorous exercise.  相似文献
