Dielectric permitivity and conductivity data are reviewed for tissue over the frequency range of 0.1-10 GHz. The conductivity of muscle increases quadratically with frequency above 1 GHz, suggesting a Debye relaxation for tissue water centered at 20 GHz at room temperature, the same as for bulk water. Approximate mixture equations suggest that this "free" water accounts for about 70% of the tissue weight, showing that most of the tissue water has rotational mobilities similar to those in the bulk fluid.  相似文献

A theory concerning growth of an iceball using round cryoprobes is presented. The equation for heat conduction is solved for homogeneous tissue, and mathematical equations are presented for the radius of the iceball at any freezing time and temperature. Experiments on freezing of muscle and liver tissue of 113 rabbits were performed. The diameter on the frozen surface, and the thickness and the mass of the iceball were measured for the live and dead, body-temperature, animal. Four continuously cooled and six massive probes (2.5–20-mm diameter) were used with liquid nitrogen as the cooling agent. The following conclusions can be drawn: (1) with use of round probe-tips, the iceball has approximately spherical symmetry. However, the depth of the frozen tissue is about 15% smaller than the lateral extension on the visible surface. (2) For continuously cooled probes the diameter of the iceball in the steady state is about five times as large as the probe diameter. The maximal iceball diameter for massive probes is two times larger than the probe diameter. (3) The different blood circulation of liver and muscle tissue has an influence of only 10% on the size of the iceball. For clinical applications this difference is of little importance. (4) For live tissue the iceball is about 15% smaller than for body-temperature dead tissue. Thus, the main heat-transport process in tissue is heat condition.  相似文献

We examined the influence of local tissue conductivity changes in the vicinity of a dipolar source on the neuromagnetic field and the electric scalp potential using a high resolution finite element method model of the human head. We found that the topology of both the electric scalp potential and the neuromagnetic field (and consequently dipole localization) is influenced significantly by conductivity changes only in voxels adjacent to the source. Conductivity changes in these voxels yield a greater change in the amplitude of the magnetic field (and consequently in the dipole strength) than in the amplitude of the electric potential.  相似文献

A series of peptides encompassing the primary binding segment (residues 12-19) of aprotinin has been synthesized and tested for their ability to inhibit porcine pancreatic kallikrein. A minimum sequence of five amino acids spanning residues 12-16 of aprotinin is necessary for inhibition of porcine pancreatic kallikrein. An octapeptide homologous with the binding segment of aprotinin has a Ki-value of 1.2 x 10(-4) M. The solution structure of the octapeptide was studied by one- and two-dimensional NMR methods for comparison with the known structure of the segment of aprotinin that contacts tissue kallikrein. NMR experiments suggest that the peptide is either a random coil or that it samples several conformations on the NMR time scale. Analysis of the molecular dynamics trajectory of the octapeptide also suggests that the peptide is highly flexible. Thus, inhibition by the octapeptide occurs because of its homology with residues 12-19 of aprotinin. Moreover, the absence of a stable solution conformation similar to that of the binding segment of aprotinin is consistent with the 150,000-fold increase in Ki of the octapeptide compared to intact aprotinin.  相似文献
