Three new five-coordinate CuII complexes, [Cu(tpy)(phen-dione)](PF6)2, [Cu(phen)(phen-dione)Cl]PF6 and [Cu(bpy)(phen-dione)Cl]PF6 (tpy = 2,2′;6′,2″-terpyridine, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline and phen-dione = 1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and UV-Vis spectroscopies and cyclic voltammetry.The complex of [Cu(tpy)(phen-dione)](PF6)2 crystallized with one molecule of acetonitrile. The ortep drawing of [Cu(tpy)(phen-dione)](PF6)2 · CH3CN shows that the coordination geometry around CuII is a distorted trigonal- bipyramid. Due to the steric hindrance of in the unit cell, the tpy ligands in each complex cation cannot interact in a π-π fashion. The effective magnetic moment (μeff) of the complexes was measured by the Evans method. The cyclic voltammograms at Pt disk electrode for these complexes display only one reversible Cu(II)/Cu(I) redox couple.  相似文献

X-ray structures are presented of three new cobalt complexes prepared from Co(III) and N,N-1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione. The cis-aqua-chloro-bis(N,N-1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione)cobalt(II) nitrate trihydrate (3) and the cis-aqua-bromo-bis(N,N-1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione)cobalt(II) trifluoro-methanesulfonate tetrahydrate (4), crystalize in the same space group with a similar arrangement of the complex ions. However, on the molecular scale there are important differences. The cobalt complex in 3 has a typical high-spin geometry whereas in 4 the cobalt complex displays a Jahn-Teller distortion characteristic for low-spin compounds. The third structure is di(N,N-1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-diol)(N,N-1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione)cobalt(III) bromide hexahydrate (5). NMR studies of the hydration of the Co(III)(1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione)3 3+ ion in water and DMSO are also presented. The various possible transformations of the N,N-1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione ligand are discussed.  相似文献

Chromosome identification is essential in oyster genomic research. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) offers new opportunities for the identification of oyster chromosomes. It has been used to locate satellite DNAs, telomeres or ribosomal DNA sequences. However, regarding chromosome identification, no study has been conducted with simple sequence repeats (SSRs). FISH was used to probe the physical organization of three particular SSRs, (GGAT)(4), (GT)(7) and (TA)(10) onto metaphase chromosomes of the Pacific oyster, Crassostrea gigas. Hybridization signals were observed in all the SSR probes, but the distribution and intensity of signals varied according to the oligonucleotide repeat. The intercalary, centromeric and telomeric bands were observed along the chromosomes, and for each particular repeat every chromosome pair presented a similar pattern, allowing karyotypic analysis with all the SSRs tested. Our study is the first in mollusks to show the application of SSR in situ hybridization for chromosome identification and karyotyping. This technique can be a useful tool for oyster comparative studies and to understand genome organization in different oyster taxa.  相似文献

The complex [Mn(L)(NO3)2(H2O)2] (1) (L=2H-5-hydroxy-1,2,5-oxadiazo[3,4-f]1,10-phenanthroline) was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and UV. The crystal and molecular structure of 1 was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction; crystal data: light yellow, monoclinic, space group P21/n, Z=4, a=7.432(2) Å, b=9.582(3) Å, c=23.445(7) Å, β=90.519(5)°. The Mn atom in 1 is hexa-coordinated in a distorted octahedral arrangement by two N atoms of the ligand L and four O atoms of two water molecules and two nitrate anions. Biological tests in vitro showed that 1 has significant antitumor activity against HL-60, KB, Hela and BGC-823 cells. The interaction of 1 with calf thymus DNA was investigated by absorption titration, thermal denaturation and viscosity measurements. The results suggest that 1 binds with DNA by intercalating via the ligand L.  相似文献

Larvae of the insect Galleria mellonella were employed to assess the in vivo antifungal efficacy of ([Ag2(mal)(phen)3]), AgNO3 and 1,10-phenanthroline. Larvae pre-inoculated with these compounds were protected from a subsequent lethal infection by the yeast Candida albicans while larvae inoculated 1 and 4 h post-infection showed significantly increased survival (P < 0.01) compared to control larvae. Administration of these compounds resulted in an increase over 48 h in the density of insect haemocytes (immune cells) but there was no widespread activation of genes for antimicrobial peptides. This work demonstrates that G. mellonella larvae may be employed to ascertain the antifungal efficacy of silver(I) compounds and offers a rapid and effective means of assessing the in vivo activity of inorganic antimicrobial compounds.  相似文献

The increasing CO2 concentration in Earths atmosphere is expected to cause a greater decline in the nutritional quality of C3 than C4 plants. As a compensatory response, herbivorous insects may increase their feeding disproportionately on C3 plants. These hypotheses were tested by growing the grasses Lolium multiflorum C3) and Bouteloua curtipendula C4) at ambient (370 ppm) and elevated (740 ppm) CO2 levels in open top chambers in the field, and comparing the growth and digestive efficiencies of the generalist grasshopper Melanoplus sanguinipes on each of the four plant × CO2 treatment combinations. As expected, the nutritional quality of the C3 grass declined to a greater extent than did that of the C4 grass at elevated CO2; protein levels declined in the C3 grass, while levels of carbohydrates (sugar, fructan and starch) increased. However, M. sanguinipes did not significantly increase its consumption rate to compensate for the lower nutritional quality of the C3 grass grown under elevated CO2. Instead, these grasshoppers appear to use post-ingestive mechanisms to maintain their growth rates on the C3 grass under elevated CO2. Consumption rates of the C3 and C4 grasses were also similar, demonstrating a lack of compensatory feeding on the C4 grass. We also examined the relative efficiencies of nutrient utilization from a C3 and C4 grass by M. sanguinipes to test the basis for the C4 plant avoidance hypothesis. Contrary to this hypothesis, neither protein nor sugar was digested with a lower efficiency from the C4 grass than from the C3 grass. A novel finding of this study is that fructan, a potentially large carbohydrate source in C3 grasses, is utilized by grasshoppers. Based on the higher nutrient levels in the C3 grass and the better growth performance of M. sanguinipes on this grass at both CO2 levels, we conclude that C3 grasses are likely to remain better host plants than C4 grasses in future CO2 conditions.  相似文献

Reactions of Zeise’s salt (K[Pt(η2-C2H4)Cl3]) with oxidized phenanthroline ligands (1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione, phedon, and 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione, Me2phedon) are reported. Comparison with analogous reactions involving unoxidized phen (1,10-phenanthroline) and Me2phen (2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline) ligands indicates that these latter ligands are less capable to stabilize the five-coordinate species [PtCl22-C2H4)(phenanthroline)] in which the phenanthroline and the olefin share the trigonal plane and two chlorines are in the axial positions. The X-ray structure of the four-coordinate species [PtCl2(Me2phedon)] indicates that the major difference between oxidized and unoxidized phenanthrolines is the loss of aromaticity of the central ring of phenanthroline. As a consequence, the oxidized phenanthroline becomes more flexible and can undergo a bow-like distortion so to reduce steric interaction between ortho substituents of phenanthroline and cis chlorine ligands. The increase in stability of the four-coordinate species with Me2phedon is concomitant with an increase in stability of the five-coordinate precursor complex with ethylene. In the latter case the stabilization is not of sterical origin but stems from reduced electron-donor properties of oxidized phenanthrolines. The balance of the two effects is such that the equilibrium between five- and four-coordinate species is more shifted in favour of the former species in the case of Me2phedon than in the case of Me2phen.  相似文献

We studied the response of Brachionus patulus to different concentrations of the heavy metal Pb in the presence and absence of sediments. We conducted acute (LC50) and chronic (life table demography and population growth) toxicity tests using sediment levels of 0, 30 and 280 mg l−1 (=0, 17 and 170 NTU) and Pb at 0, 0.06 and 0.6 mg l−1. Experiments were conducted at 20 ± 1°C on a horizontal shaker and algal food (Chlorella vulgaris) was added at a density of 1.0 × 106 cells ml−1. The median lethal concentration (LC50 ± 95% Confidence intervals) of PbCl2 for B. patulus was 6.15 ± 1.08 mg l−1. Age-specific survivorship and fecundity curves showed increase in turbidity level resulted in decreased survival and offspring production of the rotifers. Increase in Pb concentration too had a negative effect on the survival and reproductive output of B. patulus. Statistically, average lifespan, life expectancy at birth, gross and net reproductive rates and the rate of population increase were all significantly influenced by the concentration of Pb, turbidity level as well as the interaction of Pb concentration × turbidity level. Rotifers exposed to 170 NTU did not grow regardless of the heavy metal concentration in the medium. Similarly, B. patulus exposed to 0.6 mg l−1 Pb did not survive beyond 10 days regardless of the turbidity level in the medium. The rate of population increase of B. patulus derived from the growth experiments was negative in all treatments containing Pb as low as 0.06 mg l−1 or turbidity level as low as 17 NTU. Synthesis, X-ray crystal structure and IR spectrum of {[MnII(Im)6] · 2(2-IC) · 2(NC) · 2(DMSO)} (Im = imidazole, 2-HIC = indole-2-carboxylic acid, NC = 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline, DMSO = dimethyl sulfoxide) are reported. The manganese(II) ion has octahedral geometry with a MnN6 core. The crystal structure is completed by two NC, two 2-IC and two DMSO solvate molecules. The individual cations are linked into chains running parallel to the a axis by four intermolecular hydrogen bonding involving two 2-ICsolvate. Moreover, these chains are connected by π-π stacking interactions which occur between neocuproine molecules related through inversion center. In IR spectroscopy, the compound spectrum is roughly similar to the imidazole one: (i) above 1800 cm−1, the bands are broad, but when focussing on some of them a doublet structure can be found; (ii) below 1800 cm−1, the bands are sharp and it is then possible to point out the modification of S-O band when this later is involved in bifurcated hydrogen bonding to a second solvate 2-IC. The compound catalyses the disproportionation of H2O2; moreover an additional quantity of imidazole increases the reaction rate.  相似文献

The mercury(I) complexes [Hg2(phen)4](OTf)2 and [Hg2(phen)2](OTf)2 (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) were prepared and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure of [Hg2(phen)4](OTf)2 exhibits an Hg2N8 kernel, which involves the highest number of N-donor atoms coordinated to reported so far. The Hg-N distances of [Hg2(phen)4](OTf)2 cover a range of 238.5-266.6 pm. Supramolecular structures were built in both complexes via π-π stacking of the phenanthroline ligands.  相似文献

Hermes copper (Lycaena [Hermelycaena] hermes: Lycaenidae) is a rare species endemic to the coastal sage scrub in and around San Diego, CA, USA. This species has experienced substantial habitat loss due to urbanization and recent wildfires. We present data collected from field surveys conducted in 2003 and 2004. The flight season lasted 1–2 months with densities varying among sites and years. We observed adults most often near California buckwheat (Eriogonum fasciculatum) plants and significantly more often on north and west sides of trails or roads. We compared the robustness and statistical power of three indices of population size from the modified Pollard Walk surveys. We recorded the largest single-day count (Max Count), the cumulative number observed throughout the flight season (Pollard) and an estimate based on a four-parameter model (INCA: Insect Count Analyzer). The Pollard estimate was the most robust to sampling error and the most powerful at detecting population changes in simulated data. Improved monitoring techniques, both field methods and statistical estimation, are critical to determine the conservation status of rare butterflies like Hermes copper.  相似文献

Two new μ-oxamido-bridged binuclear copper(II) complexes with formulae of [Cu2(heae)(pic)2] (1) and [Cu2(heae)(Me2phen)2](ClO4)2 · H2O (2), where heae and pic stand for the anion of N,N′-bis(N-hydroxyethylaminoethyl)oxamide and 2,4,6-trinitrophenol, respectively, and Me2phen represents 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline; have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductivity measurements, IR and electronic spectra studies. The crystal structures of the two binuclear copper(II) complexes have been determined by X-ray single-crystal diffraction. In both the two binuclear complexes the central two copper(II) atoms are bridged by trans-heae. In complex 1 the coordination environment around each copper(II) atom can be described as a distorted octahedral geometry, while in complex 2 each copper(II) atom displays a square-pyramid stereochemistry. Hydrogen bonding and π-π stacking interactions link the binuclear copper(II) complex 1 or 2 into a 3D infinite network. The cytotoxicities of the two binuclear copper(II) complexes were tested by Sulforhodamine B (SRB) assays against human hepatocellular carcinoma cell SMMC-7721 and human lung adenocarcinoma cell A549. Both of the two binuclear copper(II) complexes exhibit potent cytotoxic effects against SMMC-7721 and A549 cell lines. The interactions of the two binuclear complexes with herring sperm DNA (HS-DNA) are investigated by using absorption and emission spectra and electrochemical techniques and viscometry. The results suggest that both the two binuclear copper(II) complexes interact with HS-DNA in the mode of intercalation with the intrinsic binding constants of 1.73 × 105 M−1 (1) and 1.92 × 106 M−1 (2). The influence of structural variation of the terminal ligands in the binuclear complexes on DNA-binding properties is preliminarily discussed.  相似文献

A mixed-ligand Cr(III) complex with 2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)benzimidazole, 1,10-phenanthroline and isophthalic acid, [Cr(pbm)2(phen)]X0.5 (1X0.5) (Hpbm = 2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)benzimidazole; phen = 1,10-phenanthroline; H2X = isophthalic acid) has been prepared by heating in aqueous solution and characterized, and the geometric structure and spectroscopic properties, investigated experimentally and theoretically by using the density functional theory level (DFT) and the time-dependent density functional theory level (TDDFT). The theoretical-experimental agreement is satisfactory. Further theoretical analyses of electronic structure and molecular orbitals have demonstrated that the low-lying absorption bands in UV-Vis spectrum are mainly π → π∗ ligand-to-ligand charge transfer transition (LLCT) and or π → (dz2-dx2-y2-dyz) ligand-to-metal charge transfer transition (LMCT) in nature.  相似文献

Four new dinuclear Mn(III) compounds have been synthesised: [{Mn(bpy)(H2O)}2(μ-4-ClC6H4COO)2(μ-O)}](ClO4)2 (1), [{Mn(EtOH)(phen)}2(μ-O)(μ-4-ClC6H4COO)2](ClO4)2 (2), [{Mn(bpy)(EtOH)}(μ-4-BrC6H4COO)2(μ-O){Mn(bpy)(ClO4)](ClO4) (3) and [{Mn(H2O)(phen)}2(μ-4-BrC6H4COO)2(μ-O)](ClO4)2 (4). The crystal structures of 2 and 3 are evidence for the tendency of the ethanol and the perchlorate to act as ligands. Due to the coordination of these groups, the environment of the manganese ions is elongated in the monodentate ligand direction, and this distortion is more important when this ligand is the perchlorate. The magnetic properties of the four compounds have been analysed: compounds 1, 3 and 4 show antiferromagnetic behaviour, with J = −6.33 cm−1 for 1, J = −6.76 cm−1 for 3 and J = −3.08 cm−1 for 4 (H = −JS1·S2), while compound 2 shows a very weak ferromagnetic coupling. For this compound, at low temperature the most important effect on the χMT data is the zero-field splitting of the ion, and the best fit was obtained with |DMn| = 2.38 cm−1 and |EMn| = 0.22 cm−1.  相似文献

A new zinc(II) compound, [Zn2(Hsal)4(4,4′-bpe)2] · [Zn(Hsal)2(4,4′-bpe)(DMF)(H2O)] · CH3OH (1) (Hsal = salicylate and 4,4′-bpe = trans-1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethylene) has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure consists of three independent moieties: [Zn2(Hsal)4(4,4′-bpe)2], [Zn(Hsal)2(4,4′-bpe)(DMF)(H2O)], and non-coordinated CH3OH molecule. In the compound two independent moieties which are connected by 4,4′-bpe to form 1-D chains, respectively, are further expended to accomplish 2-D network through hydrogen-bonding interactions between non-coordinated methanol and coordinated water molecule or carboxylate oxygen atoms of Hsal ligands.  相似文献

A new crotoxin B isoform PLA2 (F6a), from Crotalus durissus collilineatus was purified from by one step reverse phase HPLC chromatography using μ-Bondapack C-18 column analytic. The new crotoxin B isoform PLA2 (F6a), complex crotoxin, the catalytic subunit crotoxin B isoform PLA2 (F6a) and two crotapotin isoforms (F3 and F4), were isolated from the venom of Crotalus durissus collilineatus. The crotapotins isoforms F3 and F4 had similar chemical properties, the two proteins different in their ability to inhibit of isoforms of PLA2 (F6 and F6a). The molecular masses estimated by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry were: crotoxin B: 14,943.14 Da, crotapotin F3: 8,693.24 Da, and crotapotin F4: 9 314.56 Da. The new crotoxin B isoform PLA2 (F6a) contained 122 amino acid residues and a pI of 8.58. Its amino acid sequence presents high identity with those of other PLA2s, particularly in the calcium binding loop and active site helix 3. It also presents similarities in the C-terminal region with other myotoxic PLA2s. The new crotoxin B isoform PLA2 (F6a) contained 122 amino acid residues, with a primary structure of HLLQFNKMIK FETRRNAIPP YAFYGCYCGW GGRGRPKDAT DRCCFVHDCC YGKLAKCNTK WDFYRYSLKS GYITCGKGTW CEEQICECDR VAAECLRRSL STYRYGYMIY PDSRCRGPSE TC. A neuromuscular blocking activity was induced by crotoxin and new crotoxin B isoform PLA2 (F6a) in the isolated mouse phrenic nerve diaphragm and the biventer cervicis chick nerve-muscle preparation. Whole crotoxin was devoid of cytolytic activity upon myoblasts and myotubes in vitro, whereas new crotoxin B isoform PLA2 (F6a) was clearly cytotoxic to these cells.  相似文献

A photoautotrophic cultivation of green algae Scenedesmus cells was used for the removal of nitric oxide (NO) from a model flue gas mixture. In an attempt to improve the solubility of NO in the culture broth, the addition of Fe(II)EDTA to the cultivation was investigated. The addition of Fe(II)EDTA greatly enhanced NO-dissolution in the culture broth and subsequently increased the algal-uptake of NO. NO was assimilated as a source of nitrogen for the growth of Scenedesmus cells since there was a steady increase in cell density with no other nitrogen source in the culture except the incoming NO. 40–45% of NO removal was maintained for more than 12 days with the addition of 5 mM Fe(II)EDTA in a 1-L air-lift type photobioreactor system fed with 300 ppm of NO gas at a rate of 0.3 wm. However, the NO-dissolution-enhancing capacity of Fe(II)EDTA did not reach its full potential due to its oxidation to Fe(III)EDTA, possibly induced by molecular oxygen that evolved from algal photosynthesis, and subsequent loss of chelating capabilities.  相似文献
