Abstract

We have completed the first comprehensive transmembrane topology determination for a member of the ubiquitous and important SulP/SLC26 family of coupled anion transporters found in eukaryotes and prokaryotes. The prokaryotic member that we have mapped, namely BicA from Synechococcus PCC7002, is an important Na+-dependent bicarbonate transporter that is likely to play a major role in global primary productivity via the CO2 concentrating mechanism in cyanobacteria. We experimentally determined the topology based on phoA-lacZ topology mapping combined with reference to a range of predictive models based on hydropathy analysis and positive charge distribution. The 12-TMH structure for BicA is characterized by tight turns between several pairs of TMH and it features a prominent cytoplasmically-located STAS domain that is characteristic of the SulP family. A key difference from previous predicted models is that we identify a cytoplasmic loop between helices 8 and 9 where previous models suggested a TMH. This region includes a highly conserved motif that defines the SulP family. The identification of this region as cytoplasmic, rather than transmembrane, has implications for the function and perhaps regulation of SulP family members. This finding is used to reinterpret mutagenesis data relating to highly conserved residues in this region from both plant and human SulP transporters.  相似文献

Members of the SLC26 transporter family play an essential role in several epithelial functions, as revealed by diseases associated with mutations in members of the family. Several members were shown to function as Cl(-) and HCO(3)(-) transporters that likely play an important role in epithelial Cl(-) absorption and HCO(3)(-) secretion. However, the mechanism of most transporters is not well understood. SLC26A7 is a member of the SLC26 transporter family reported to be expressed in the basolateral membrane of the cortical collecting duct and parietal cells and functions as a coupled Cl(-)/HCO(3)(-) exchanger. In the present work we examined the transport properties of SLC26A7 to determine its transport characteristics and electrogenicity. We found that when expressed in Xenopus oocytes or HEK293 cells SLC26A7 functions as a pH(i)-regulated Cl(-) channel with minimal OH(-)/HCO(3)(-) permeability. Expression of SLC26A7 in oocytes or HEK293 cells generated a Cl(-) current with linear I/V and an instantaneous current that was voltage- and time-independent. Based on measurement of reversal potential the selectivity of SLC26A7 is NO(3)(-)>Cl(-)=Br(-)=I(-)>SO(4)(2-)=Glu(-), although I(-) partially inhibited the current. Incubating the cells with HCO(3)(-) or butyrate acidified the cytosol and increased the selectivity of SLC26A7 for Cl(-). Measurement of membrane potential and pH(i) showed minimal OH(-) and HCO(3)(-) transport by SLC26A7 when the cells were incubated in Cl(-)-containing or Cl(-)-free media. The activity of SLC26A7 was inhibited by all inhibitors of anion transporters tested, 4,4'-diisothiocyanostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid, diphenylamine-2-carboxylic acid, and glybenclamide. These findings reveal that SLC26A7 functions as a unique Cl(-) channel that is regulated by intracellular H(+).  相似文献

A second distinct family of anion transporters, in addition to the classical SLC4 (or AE) family, has recently been delineated. Members of the SLC26 family are structurally well conserved and can mediate the electroneutral exchange of Cl(-) for HCO(-)(3) across the plasma membrane of mammalian cells like members of the SLC4 family. Three human transporter proteins have been functionally characterized: SLC26A2 (DTDST), SLC26A3 (CLD or DRA), and SLC26A4 (PDS) can transport with different specificities the chloride, iodine, bicarbonate, oxalate, and hydroxyl anions, whereas SLC26A5 (prestin) was suggested to act as the motor protein of the cochlear outer hair cell. We report the expansion of the SLC26 family with five new members in chromosomes 3, 6, 8, 12, and 17 and mapping of SLC26A1 to 4p16.3. We have characterized one of them, SLC26A6, in more detail. It maps to chromosome 3p21.3, encodes a predicted 738-amino-acid transmembrane protein, and is most abundantly expressed in the kidney and pancreas. Pancreatic ductal cell lines Capan-1 and Capan-2 express SLC26A6, and immunohistochemistry localizes SLC26A6 protein to the apical surface of pancreatic ductal cells, suggesting it as a candidate for a luminal anion exchanger. The functional characterization of the novel members of this tissue-specific gene family may provide new insights into anion transport physiology in different parts of the body.  相似文献

Bicarbonate is not freely permeable to membranes. Yet, bicarbonate must be moved across membranes, as part of CO2 metabolism and to regulate cell pH. Mammalian cells ubiquitously express bicarbonate transport proteins to facilitate the transmembrane bicarbonate flux. These bicarbonate transporters, which function by different transport mechanisms, together catalyse transmembrane bicarbonate movement. Recent advances have allowed the identification of several new bicarbonate transporter genes. Bicarbonate transporters cluster into two separate families: (i) the anion exachanger (AE) family of Cl-/HCO3- exchangers is related in sequence to the NBC family of Na+/HCO3- cotransporters and the Na(+)-dependent Cl/HCO3- exchangers and (ii) some members of the SLC26a family of sulfate transporters will also transport bicarbonate but are not related in sequence to the AE/NBC family of transporters. This review summarizes our understanding of the mammalian bicarbonate transporter superfamily.  相似文献

The secretin-stimulated human pancreatic duct secretes HCO(3)(-)-rich fluid essential for normal digestion. Optimal stimulation of pancreatic HCO(3)(-) secretion likely requires coupled activities of the cystic fibrosis transmembrane regulator (CFTR) anion channel and apical SLC26 Cl(-)/HCO(3)(-) exchangers. However, whereas stimulated human and guinea pig pancreatic ducts secrete ~140 mM HCO(3)(-) or more, mouse and rat ducts secrete ~40-70 mM HCO(3)(-). Moreover, the axial distribution and physiological roles of SLC26 anion exchangers in pancreatic duct secretory processes remain controversial and may vary among mammalian species. Thus the property of high HCO(3)(-) secretion shared by human and guinea pig pancreatic ducts prompted us to clone from guinea pig pancreatic duct cDNAs encoding Slc26a3, Slc26a6, and Slc26a11 polypeptides. We then functionally characterized these anion transporters in Xenopus oocytes and human embryonic kidney (HEK) 293 cells. In Xenopus oocytes, gpSlc26a3 mediated only Cl(-)/Cl(-) exchange and electroneutral Cl(-)/HCO(3)(-) exchange. gpSlc26a6 in Xenopus oocytes mediated Cl(-)/Cl(-) exchange and bidirectional exchange of Cl(-) for oxalate and sulfate, but Cl(-)/HCO(3)(-) exchange was detected only in HEK 293 cells. gpSlc26a11 in Xenopus oocytes exhibited pH-dependent Cl(-), oxalate, and sulfate transport but no detectable Cl(-)/HCO(3)(-) exchange. The three gpSlc26 anion transporters exhibited distinct pharmacological profiles of (36)Cl(-) influx, including partial sensitivity to CFTR inhibitors Inh-172 and GlyH101, but only Slc26a11 was inhibited by PPQ-102. This first molecular and functional assessment of recombinant SLC26 anion transporters from guinea pig pancreatic duct enhances our understanding of pancreatic HCO(3)(-) secretion in species that share a high HCO(3)(-) secretory output.  相似文献

Aberrant HCO(3)(-) transport is a hallmark of cystic fibrosis (CF) and is associated with aberrant Cl(-)-dependent HCO(3)(-) transport by the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR). We show here that HCO(3)(-) current by CFTR cannot account for CFTR-activated HCO(3)(-) transport and that CFTR does not activate AE1-AE4. In contrast, CFTR markedly activates Cl(-) and OH(-)/HCO(3)(-) transport by members of the SLC26 family DRA, SLC26A6 and pendrin. Most notably, the SLC26s are electrogenic transporters with isoform-specific stoichiometries. DRA activity occurred at a Cl(-)/HCO(3)(-) ratio > or =2. SLC26A6 activity is voltage regulated and occurred at HCO(3)(-)/Cl(-) > or =2. The physiological significance of these findings is demonstrated by interaction of CFTR and DRA in the mouse pancreas and an altered activation of DRA by the R117H and G551D mutants of CFTR. These findings provide a molecular mechanism for epithelial HCO(3)(-) transport (one SLC26 transporter-electrogenic transport; two SLC26 transporters with opposite stoichiometry in the same membrane domain-electroneutral transport), the CF-associated aberrant HCO(3)(-) transport, and reveal a new function of CFTR with clinical implications for CF and congenital chloride diarrhea.

The SLC26 transporters are a family of mostly luminal Cl- and HCO3- transporters. The transport mechanism and the Cl-/HCO3- stoichiometry are not known for any member of the family. To address these questions, we simultaneously measured the HCO3- and Cl- fluxes and the current or membrane potential of slc26a3 and slc26a6 expressed in Xenopus laevis oocytes and the current of the transporters expressed in human embryonic kidney 293 cells. slc26a3 mediates a coupled 2Cl-/1HCO3- exchanger. The membrane potential modulated the apparent affinity for extracellular Cl- of Cl-/HCO3- exchange by slc26a3. Interestingly, the replacement of Cl- with NO3- or SCN- uncoupled the transport, with large NO3- and SCN- currents and low HCO3- transport. An apparent uncoupled current was also developed during the incubation of slc26a3-expressing oocytes in HCO3--buffered Cl--free media. These findings were used to develop a turnover cycle for Cl- and HCO3- transport by slc26a3. Cl- and HCO3- flux measurements revealed that slc26a6 mediates a 1Cl-/2HCO3- exchange. Accordingly, holding the membrane potential at 40 and -100 mV accelerated and inhibited, respectively, Cl--mediated HCO3- influx, and holding the membrane potential at -100 mV increased HCO3--mediated Cl- influx. These findings indicate that slc26a6 functions as a coupled 1Cl-/2HCO3- exchanger. The significance of isoform-specific Cl- and HCO3- transport stoichiometry by slc26a3 and slc26a6 is discussed in the context of diseases of epithelial Cl- absorption and HCO3- secretion.  相似文献

The unusually low 78% amino acid identity between the orthologous human SLC26A6 and mouse slc26a6 polypeptides prompted systematic comparison of their anion transport functions in Xenopus oocytes. Multiple human SLC26A6 variant polypeptides were also functionally compared. Transport was studied as unidirectional fluxes of (36)Cl(-), [(14)C]oxalate, and [(35)S]sulfate; as net fluxes of HCO(3)(-) by fluorescence ratio measurement of intracellular pH; as current by two-electrode voltage clamp; and as net Cl(-) flux by fluorescence intensity measurement of relative changes in extracellular and intracellular [Cl(-)]. Four human SLC26A6 polypeptide variants each exhibited rates of bidirectional [(14)C]oxalate flux, Cl(-)/HCO(3)(-) exchange, and Cl(-)/OH(-) exchange nearly equivalent to those of mouse slc26a6. Cl(-)/HCO(3)(-) exchange by both orthologs was cAMP-sensitive, further enhanced by coexpressed wild type cystic fibrosis transmembrane regulator but inhibited by cystic fibrosis transmembrane regulator DeltaF508. However, the very low rates of (36)Cl(-) and [(35)S]sulfate transport by all active human SLC26A6 isoforms contrasted with the high rates of the mouse ortholog. Human and mouse orthologs also differed in patterns of acute regulation. Studies of human-mouse chimeras revealed cosegregation of the high (36)Cl(-) transport phenotype with the transmembrane domain of mouse slc26a6. Mouse slc26a6 and human SLC26A6 each mediated electroneutral Cl(-)/HCO(3)(-) and Cl(-)/OH(-) exchange. In contrast, whereas Cl(-)/oxalate exchange by mouse slc26a6 was electrogenic, that mediated by human SLC26A6 appeared electroneutral. The increased currents observed in oocytes expressing either mouse or human ortholog were pharmacologically distinct from the accompanying monovalent anion exchange activities. The human SLC26A6 polypeptide variants SLC26A6c and SLC26A6d were inactive as transporters of oxalate, sulfate, and chloride. Thus, the orthologous mouse and human SLC26A6 proteins differ in anion selectivity, transport mechanism, and acute regulation, but both mediate electroneutral Cl(-)/HCO(3)(-) exchange.  相似文献

Members of the SLC26 family of anion transporters mediate the transport of diverse molecules ranging from halides to carboxylic acids and can function as coupled transporters or as channels. A unique feature of the two members of the family, Slc26a3 and Slc26a6, is that they can function as both obligate coupled and mediate an uncoupled current, in a channel-like mode, depending on the transported anion. To identify potential features that control the two modes of transport, we performed in silico modeling of Slc26a6, which suggested that the closest potential fold similarity of the Slc26a6 transmembrane domains is to the CLC transporters, despite their minimal sequence identity. Examining the predicted Slc26a6 fold identified a highly conserved glutamate (Glu(-); Slc26a6(E357)) with the predicted spatial orientation similar to that of the CLC-ec1 E148, which determines coupled or uncoupled transport by CLC-ec1. This raised the question of whether the conserved Glu(-) in Slc26a6(E357) and Slc26a3(E367) have a role in the unique transport modes by these transporters. Reversing the Glu(-) charge in Slc26a3 and Slc26a6 resulted in the inhibition of all modes of transport. However, most notably, neutralizing the charge in Slc26a6(E357A) eliminated all forms of coupled transport without affecting the uncoupled current. The Slc26a3(E367A) mutation markedly reduced the coupled transport and converted the stoichiometry of the residual exchange from 2Cl(-)/1HCO(3)(-) to 1Cl(-)/1HCO(3)(-), while completely sparing the current. These findings suggest the possibility that similar structural motif may determine multiple functional modes of these transporters.  相似文献

The present study investigated the effect of dopamine D1-like receptor stimulation on the Cl-/HCO3- exchange activity in rat intestinal epithelial IEC-6 cells. The Cl-/HCO3- exchange activity was found to be a chloride-dependent, DIDS-sensitive and niflumate-insensitive process. The presence of the SLC26A6 anion exchanger was detected by both RT-PCR and immunoblotting analysis in IEC-6 cells, in which three different small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) targeting SLC26A6 markedly inhibited Cl-/HCO3- exchange. Activation of dopamine D1-like receptors with SKF 38393 inhibited Cl-/HCO3- exchanger activity, this being antagonized by the D1 selective antagonist SKF 83566. However, effects of SKF 38393 were maximal at 5 min of exposure to the agonist and rapidly diminished with no effect at 15 min, suggestive of agonist-induced desensitization of D1-like receptors. Pretreatment of cells with heparin, a non-selective inhibitor of G protein-coupled receptor kinases (GRKs), prevented the observed attenuation of SKF 38393-induced inhibition of Cl-/HCO3- exchange. Overnight pretreatment with anti-GRK6A and anti-GRK6B, but not with anti-GRK4 antibodies, prevented the loss of SKF 38393-mediated effects. Both PKA and PKC signaling pathways participate in SKF 38393-mediated inhibition of Cl-/HCO3- exchange. These findings suggest that SLC26A6 is at least one of the anion exchanger's family members responsible for Cl-/HCO3- exchange in IEC-6 cells. Dopamine D1 receptors in IEC-6 rapidly desensitize to D1-like agonist stimulation and GRK 6, but not GRK 4, appear to be involved in agonist-mediated responsiveness and desensitization.  相似文献

In most HCO(3)(-)-secreting epithelial tissues, SLC26 Cl(-)/HCO(3)(-) transporters work in concert with the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) to regulate the magnitude and composition of the secreted fluid, a process that is vital for normal tissue function. By contrast, CFTR is regarded as the only exit pathway for HCO(3)(-) in the airways. Here we show that Cl(-)/HCO(3)(-) anion exchange makes a major contribution to transcellular HCO(3)(-) transport in airway serous cells. Real-time measurement of intracellular pH from polarized cultures of human Calu-3 cells demonstrated cAMP/PKA-activated Cl(-)-dependent HCO(3)(-) transport across the luminal membrane via CFTR-dependent coupled Cl(-)/HCO(3)(-) anion exchange. The pharmacological and functional profile of the luminal anion exchanger was consistent with SLC26A4 (pendrin), which was shown to be expressed by quantitative RT-PCR, Western blot, and immunofluorescence. Pendrin-mediated anion exchange activity was confirmed by shRNA pendrin knockdown (KD), which markedly reduced cAMP-activated Cl(-)/HCO(3)(-) exchange. To establish the relative roles of CFTR and pendrin in net HCO(3)(-) secretion, transepithelial liquid secretion rate and liquid pH were measured in wild type, pendrin KD, and CFTR KD cells. cAMP/PKA increased the rate and pH of the secreted fluid. Inhibiting CFTR reduced the rate of liquid secretion but not the pH, whereas decreasing pendrin activity lowered pH with little effect on volume. These results establish that CFTR predominately controls the rate of liquid secretion, whereas pendrin regulates the composition of the secreted fluid and identifies a critical role for this anion exchanger in transcellular HCO(3)(-) secretion in airway serous cells.  相似文献

A unique characteristic of endothelial cells from high endothelial venules (HEVEC) in lymphoid organs and chronically inflamed tissues is their capacity to incorporate large amounts of sulfate into sialomucin-type counter-receptors for the lymphocyte homing receptor L-selectin. We have previously shown that HEVEC express two functional classes of sulfate transporters: sodium/sulfate cotransporters and sulfate/anion exchangers. Here, we report the molecular cloning from human HEVEC of a 2.9-kb cDNA encoding SLC26A7, a novel member of the SLC26 (solute carrier 26) sulfate/anion exchanger family. SLC26A7 exhibits 30% identity with three known sulfate transporters from the SLC26 family: SLC26A2 (also known as DTDST), SLC26A1 (also known as SAT1), and SLC26A3 (also known as DRA). Northern blot analysis revealed specific expression of SLC26A7 mRNA in kidney. Alternative splicing and polyadenylation of SLC26A7 pre-mRNA in kidney suggest the existence of two protein isoforms, SLC26A7.1 and SLC26A7.2, differing in their carboxy termini.  相似文献

This mini-review addresses advances in understanding the transmembrane topologies of two unrelated, single-subunit bicarbonate transporters from cyanobacteria, namely BicA and SbtA. BicA is a Na+-dependent bicarbonate transporter that belongs to the SulP/SLC26 family that is widespread in both eukaryotes and prokaryotes. Topology mapping of BicA via the phoA/lacZ fusion reporter method identified 12 transmembrane helices with an unresolved hydrophobic region just beyond helix 8. Re-interpreting this data in the light of a recent topology study on rat prestin leads to a consensus topology of 14 transmembrane domains with a 7+7 inverted repeat structure. SbtA is also a Na+-dependent bicarbonate transporter, but of considerably higher affinity (Km 2–5?μM versus >100?μM for BicA). Whilst SbtA is widespread in cyanobacteria and a few bacteria, it appears to be absent from eukaryotes. Topology mapping of SbtA via the phoA/lacZ fusion reporter method identified 10 transmembrane helices. The topology consists of a 5+5 inverted repeat, with the two repeats separated by a large intracellular loop. The unusual location of the N and C-termini outside the cell raises the possibility that SbtA forms a novel fold, not so far identified by structural and topological studies on transport proteins.  相似文献

HCO3(-) secretion is the most important defense mechanism against acid injury in the duodenum. However, the identity of the transporter(s) mediating apical HCO3(-) secretion in the duodenum remains unknown. A family of anion exchangers, which include downregulated in adenoma (DRA or SLC26A3), pendrin (PDS or SLC26A4), and the putative anion transporter (PAT1 or SLC26A6) has recently been identified. DRA and pendrin mediate Cl(-)/base exchange; however, the functional identity and distribution of PAT1 (SLC26A6) is not known. In these studies, we investigated the functional identity, tissue distribution, and membrane localization of PAT1. Expression studies in Xenopus oocytes demonstrated that PAT1 functions in Cl(-)/HCO3(-) exchange mode. Tissue distribution studies indicated that the expression of PAT1 is highly abundant in the small intestine but is low in the colon, a pattern opposite that of DRA. PAT1 was also abundantly detected in stomach and heart. Immunoblot analysis studies identified PAT1 as a approximately 90 kDa protein in the duodenum. Immunohistochemical studies localized PAT1 to the brush border membranes of the villus cells of the duodenum. We propose that PAT1 is an apical Cl(-)/HCO3(-) exchanger in the small intestine.  相似文献

Carbonic anhydrases (CA) catalyze the reversible conversion of CO2 to HCO3-. Some bicarbonate transporters bind CA, forming a complex called a transport metabolon, to maximize the coupled catalytic/transport flux. SLC26A6, a plasma membrane Cl-/HCO3- exchanger with a suggested role in pancreatic HCO3- secretion, was found to bind the cytoplasmic enzyme CAII. Mutation of the identified CAII binding (CAB) site greatly reduced SLC26A6 activity, demonstrating the importance of the interaction. Regulation of SLC26A6 bicarbonate transport by protein kinase C (PKC) was investigated. Angiotensin II (AngII), which activates PKC, decreased Cl-/HCO3- exchange in cells coexpressing SLC26A6 and AT1a-AngII receptor. Activation of PKC reduced SLC26A6/CAII association in immunoprecipitates. Similarly, PKC activation displaced CAII from the plasma membrane, as monitored by immunofluorescence. Finally, mutation of a PKC site adjacent to the SLC26A6 CAB site rendered the transporter unresponsive to PKC. PKC therefore reduces CAII/SLC26A6 interaction, reducing bicarbonate transport rate. Taken together, our data support a mechanism for acute regulation of membrane transport: metabolon disruption.  相似文献

Anion exchanger proteins facilitate the exchange of bicarbonate for chloride across the plasma membrane. When bicarbonate combines with a proton it undergoes conversion into CO2, either spontaneously, or catalyzed by carbonic anhydrase enzymes. The CO2/HCO3- equilibrium is the body’s central pH buffering system. Rapid bicarbonate transport across the plasma membrane is essential to maintain cellular and whole body pH, to dispose of metabolic waste CO2, and to control fluid movement in our bodies. Cl-/HCO3- exchangers are found in two distinct gene families: SLC4A and SLC26A. Differences in the tissue distribution, electrogenicity, and regulation of the specific anion exchanger proteins allow for precise regulation of bicarbonate transport throughout the human body. This review provides a look into the structural and functional features that make this family of proteins unique, as well as the physiological significance of the different anion exchangers.  相似文献

HCO3- secretion by gastric mucous cells is essential for protection against acidic injury and peptic ulcer. Herein we report the identification of an apical HCO3- transporter in gastric surface epithelial cells. Northern hybridization and RT-PCR demonstrate the expression of this transporter, also known as SLC26A9, in mouse and rat stomach and trachea (but not kidney). In situ hybridization in mouse stomach showed abundant expression of SLC26A9 in surface epithelial cells with apical localization on immunofluorescence labeling. Functional studies in HEK-293 cells demonstrated that SLC26A9 mediates Cl-/HCO3- exchange and is also capable of Cl--independent HCO3- extrusion. Unlike other anion exchangers or transport proteins reported to date, SLC26A9 activity is inhibited by ammonium (NH4+). The inhibitory effect of NH4+ on gastric HCO3- secretion was also indicated by reduced gastric juxtamucosal pH (pHjm) in rat stomach in vivo. This report is the first to describe the inhibition of HCO3- transport in vitro and the reduction of pHjm in stomach in vivo by NH4+. Given its critical localization on the apical membrane of surface epithelial cells, its ability to transport HCO3-, and its inhibition by NH4+, we propose that SLC26A9 mediates HCO3- secretion in surface epithelial cells and is essential for protection against acidic injury in the stomach. Disease states that are associated with increased ammonia (NH3)/NH4+ generation (e.g., Helicobacter pylori) may impair gastric HCO3- secretion and therefore predispose patients to peptic ulcer by inhibiting SLC26A9.  相似文献

NaHCO(3) transporters are involved in maintenance of intracellular pH and transepithelial HCO(3)(-) movement in many rodent tissues. To establish the human relevance of the many investigations on rodents, this study aimed to map these transporters and a related polypeptide, NaBC1 [solute carrier 4 (SLC4)A11], to several human tissues by using PCR on reverse transcribed human mRNA and immunoperoxidase histochemistry. The mRNA encoding the electroneutral Na(+):HCO(3)(-) cotransporter (NBCe1; SLC4A4), was expressed in renal cortex, renal medulla, stomach, duodenum, jejunum, ileum, colon, pancreas, choroid plexus, cerebellum, cerebrum, and hippocampus. NBCe2 (SLC4A5) and NBCn1 (SLC4A7) mRNAs were mainly found in kidney and brain tissues, as was mRNA encoding the Na(+)-dependent anion exchangers NCBE (SLC4A10) and NDCBE1 (SLC4A8). In addition to previous findings, NBCn1 protein was localized to human renal medullary thick ascending limbs and duodenal epithelial villus cells and NBCe2 protein to renal collecting ducts. Finally, the message encoding NaBC1 was found in kidney, stomach, duodenum, pancreas, and brain, and the corresponding protein in the anterior and posterior corneal epithelia, renal corpuscules, proximal tubules, collecting ducts, pancreatic ducts, and the choroid plexus epithelium. In conclusion, the selected human tissues display distinct expression patterns of HCO(3)(-) transporters, which closely resemble that of rodent tissues.  相似文献
