Iris embryos were treated in several ways to study the cause of delayed germination. The results of this work indicate that a chemical inhibitor is present in the endosperm and mechanical inhibition of embryo growth also occurs. The mechanical inhibition reduces excised Iris embryo growth to the same extent as does the chemical inhibitor.  相似文献

分析了蔷薇(Rosa L.)种子休眠原因、解除休眠方法以及环境条件对休眠与萌发的影响.蔷薇种子休眠的主要原因有瘦果果皮和种皮的限制作用,胚生理休眠以及果肉、瘦果果皮、种皮和胚中的抑制物质.解除休眠的方法包括去除瘦果果皮限制、解除胚的生理休眠、去除抑制物质等.种子发育过程中及成熟后,环境因子,如温度、水分和光照,对种子休眠和萌发有影响.此外,微生物、果实采集时间也对种子休眠及萌发有较大影响.蔷薇种子的休眠机制复杂,且种间差异很大.  相似文献

对哀牢山自然保护区大百合种子休眠原因、休眠破除方法进行了研究,为大百合的种子繁殖提供理论与技术依据.结果表明:大百合种子休眠的主要原因是胚发育不全,种子休眠类型为复杂的形态生理休眠.温度是影响胚生长和分化的主要因素,经高温到低温的变温[25℃/15℃(60 d)→15℃/5℃(60 d)→4℃(50 d)]层积处理,种子可完成后熟而萌发,所需时间约170 d,比自然条件下层积所需时间缩短了11~12个月.  相似文献

This analysis principally concerns biological aspects of dormancy in mammalian malaria, with particular reference to the hypnozoite. Research is needed to reveal what happens to sporozoites of Plasmodium cynomolgi between the time of inoculation and when hypnozoites are first seen in the liver 36-40 h later. It is likely that hypnozoites of relapsing malarial parasites will prove to be directly sporozoite-derived rather than merozoite-derived. There is indirect evidence that, contrary to what is generally assumed, activation of hypnozoites might not be the only cause of recurrent Plasmodium vivax malaria. Latent stages pose a threat to success in eradicating malaria; some suggestions are therefore made for demystifying work on hypnozoites and quiescent merozoites.  相似文献

通过对曼陀罗种子生活力测定、发芽试验、吸水率测定及种子萌发抑制物研究,揭示曼陀罗种子休眠机理,并利用物理、化学法处理曼陀罗种子,以探寻打破曼陀罗种子休眠的最佳方法.结果表明:(1)新采收的曼陀罗种子为综合休眠,休眠原因包括:种皮障碍、缺少萌发所需激素以及种皮和种仁中存在萌发抑制物,其中种皮障碍是限制种子萌发的首要因素.(2)室温存储6个月可解除曼陀罗种子种仁的休眠,但种皮障碍始终是其种子萌发的限制因素.(3)机械摩擦、浓H2SO4处理和NaOH处理均可打破除曼陀罗种皮的休眠障碍,促进种子萌发,其中用10% NaOH处理90 min为破除曼陀罗种皮休眠障碍的最佳方法,且发芽率比对照提高了83%.  相似文献

Rivero, F., and Cerdá-Olmedo, E. 1994. Spore dormancy mutants of Phycomyces. Experimental Mycology 18, 221-229. The spores of the Zygomycete Phycomyces blakesleeanus are called dormant because few of them germinate when placed in a medium that sustains mycelial growth and development. Nearly all the spores germinate after activation, that is, exposure to heat or certain chemicals. We have looked for mutants whose spores would not need activation. Nine mutants formed authentic, but transient spores, which germinated spontaneously in the sporangium. Mutant mycelia had lower alcohol and aldehyde dehydrogenase activities and less glycogen than wild-type mycelia. The spontaneous germination and the metabolic alterations are attributed to the same recessive mutations. No differences were found between mutants and wild type in the cyclic AMP and fructose 2,6-bisphosphate concentrations in immature sporangia and the trehalase activity in the mycelia. In another mutant the spore primordia did not form spores, but remained viable for some time in the sporangium. The mutants were difficult to keep in the laboratory (except as lyophils); this stresses the importance of preventing spore germination in the sporangium.  相似文献

After arriving in a secondary site metastatic cells either begin proliferating, undergo apoptosis or remain as solitary dormant cells. The process of metastasis, although dangerous, is extremely inefficient with the majority of the cells undergoing apoptosis and thus becoming clinically irrelevant. Of the cells that begin proliferating, the few that make it past the micrometastasis stage may be of immediate clinical relevance. Dormant cells, while not of immediate clinical concern, are believed to be at least in part responsible for cancer recurrence that can occur decades after apparently successful initial treatment. Dormant solitary cells are different from “dormant” micrometastases, in which active proliferation is balanced by apoptosis. The mechanisms of cell cycle regulation and the function of the molecules regulating this process are well understood. However, there is relatively little known about the mechanisms controlling cell cycle regulation and dormancy of solitary metastatic cells. There are several inherent difficulties impeding the study of solitary cells. This review paper will examine the models used in the study of dormant solitary metastatic cells, methods of imaging and studying these cells, the molecular mechanisms believed to be responsible for solitary cell dormancy, and finally the unique treatment challenges posed by these cells.  相似文献

Dormancy is common among rotifers: monogononts produce resting eggs (diapause) commonly after switching to mictic phase, and bdelloids enter anhydrobiosis (quiescence) at any time during their life cycle. Monogononts are short-lived and inhabit coarse-grained environments; their dormancy is a long-lasting diapause, commonly initiated by indirect remote cues. Bdelloids live 3 times as long, live in fine-grained environments and enter short-lasting quiescence as a direct response to changing environment. The two dormancy forms of the rotifers can be related to the temporal variation of their environments and seem to represent diverse responses to disturbance occurring at different rates. The two strategies are alternative and mutually exclusive, as no single rotifer species seems capable of both diapause and quiescence. Dormancy has great ecological significance: it can carry the population through stressful conditions, promote species coexistence and serve as a biodiversity bank providing reliable colonization source.  相似文献

Relatively brief treatment of imbibed seeds of positively photoblasticlettuce (Lactuca sativa L. cv. Cannington Forcing) with lowconcentrations of ethanol promotes germination. It is suggestedthat this effect is upon a cellular membrane, a view which issupported by the fact that a subsequent treatment with Ca2+markedly reduces the ethanol promotion. Data from experiments involving movement and transfer of seedsprovide no support for the involvement of a stable, leachable,endogenous inhibitor in the control of germination. It is concludedthat whether or not the seeds break dormancy is determined bythe interplay between forces generated in the developing embryoand the mechanical restraint provided by the tissues which envelopit.  相似文献
