Spores of the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium flavoviride were applied against the tree locust Anacridium melanorhodon melanorhodon in the field for the first time. The treated areas covered a total of 55 ha in the vicinity of Tendelti in the White Nile State of Sudan. At a dose of 100 g of spores/ha applied in 5 l of oil formulation, the application led to a reduction in population densities of 66-76% after 18 days. Correction of the data with the Henderson/ Tilton formula gave an overall control efficiency of 68%.  相似文献

The effects of natural and simulated sunlight on conidia of Metarhizium flavoviride Gams and Rozsypal formulated in oil were investigated. The germination responses of conidia exposed to simulated sunlight usually followed an exponential pattern, but a cubic relationship was better in one instance when the conidia were allowed a longer time to germinate. Conidia exposed to natural sunlight in West Africa showed cubic relationships in their germination responses and greater inactivation/increment of ultraviolet (UV) dose compared with that from simulated sunlight. This was probably due to the greater intensity of UV irradiation compared with simulated sunlight, but an interaction with temperature occurs naturally in the field. Under laboratory and field conditions, UV light caused increasing levels of damage as the temperature rose; with simulated sunlight, UV levels that caused a 20% reduction in germination at 20 C caused an 80% reduction at 50 C.  相似文献

The effects of moisture content and temperature on the medium-term (3-4 months) storage of conidia of Metarhizium flavoviride were investigated. Conidia harvested after 24 days of culturing on rice showed greater tolerance to long storage than conidia from 12-day cultures. The moisture content of the conidia was of greatest importance; at harvest from the culture, conidial moisture contents could be 40%, while the optimal moisture content for storage was found to be 4-5%. Dried conidia stored in oil benefited from the addition of dried silica gel, as did conidia stored as powder. A range of mineral oils proved satisfactory for storage, and when dried silica gel was added to suspensions, germination levels were 79.8% after 105 days at 28-32 C. Dried conidia stored in oil maintained germination levels of up to 96 and 85% after 80 days at 10-14 C and 28-32 C respectively. Dried conidia stored as powder retained germination levels of 95% at 10-14 C, but only up to 27% at 28-32 C. In another experiment, dried conidia maintained greater than 90% germination over 128 days, with or without silica gel at 10 - 14 C or -15 - -18 C.  相似文献

Conidia of Metarhizium flavoviride were hermetically stored at 13.7% moisture content with four constant (20, 30, 40 and 50 C) and six fluctuating temperature regimes (20:30, 20:40, 20:50, 30:40, 30:50 and 40 C:50 C, all 24 h:24 h) for up to 119 days. Survival of conidia stored at both constant and fluctuating temperatures conformed to cumulative negative normal distributions and all 10 survival curves could be constrained to a common origin. The effect of constant storage temperature on conidia longevity was quantified satisfactorily by a negative curvilinear semi-logarithmic relation developed previously, in which the estimates of the constants CH and CQ were 0.0176 (SE 0.0013) and 0.000703 (SE 0.000019), respectively. The fitted relation at constant temperatures showed that Q10 for loss in conidia viability increased the warmer the temperature regime. The effect of the cooler temperature of each fluctuating temperature regime on conidia longevity was small, since the effective temperature of each regime for loss in conidia viability was always much warmer than the mean. Conidia were also stored in two further regimes: at 30 C for 21 or 35 days before transfer to 50 C. The standard deviations of the conidia survival curves at 50 C were unaffected by the duration of previous storage at 30 C. Thus change in temperature per se had no effect on conidia survival: conidia survival curve slopes were solely dependent upon the contemporary storage environment. Approaches are developed in order to predict loss of conidia viability in fluctuating temperature storage environments, and the predictions compared against independent observations.  相似文献

The effects of temperature on conidial germination and susceptibility of adults of the desert locust , Schistocerca gregaria, to four isolates of Metarhizium flavoviride were determined . In addition , the effects of inoculation method (topical or spray) , spore carrier (oil or water) and ambient relative humidity (RH) on susceptibility of the locust to the most thermotolerant isolate (Mf324) were investigated . There were differences among the isolates in the effects of temperature on germination of conidia after a 24 - h incubation period . Over 90% of conidia of all isolates germinated after 24 h at 30 o C . In contrast , at 40 o C , none of the isolates germinated for up to 72 h . However , there were differences in germination between the isolates at 35 o C . Locust mortality and disease progression were significantly affected by temperature . At both 25 and 30 o C , all isolates induced 98 - 100% mortality within 8 days; however , there were differences between isolates at 35 o C . None of the isolates caused significant mortality at 40 o C . Humidity and inoculation method had no influence on levels of mortaility in fungus treated locusts . In contrast , carrier type significantly affected cumulative mortality . Topical oil treatment resulted in higher overall mycosis than the three other treatments . Control mortality on the other hand was strongly affected by inoculation method and to a lesser extent by humidity and carrier . In these conditions , application of oil by spray was generally toxic at all humidities whereas topical application of water was most toxic at near saturation . The results of these laboratory studies demonstrate the importance of strain selection , formulation and application method in the development of a microbial control agent against the desert locust . Low RH should not impede use of this fungus under dry conditions .  相似文献

Investigations of the temperature tolerances of Metarhizium flavoviride conidia, of different moisture contents, in an oil formulation were carried out. The conidia were dried to 5, 9, 15 or 19% moisture contents and exposed to a range of temperatures, -15, 12, 25, 38, 48 and 55 C. Viability declined due to high temperatures and high moisture contents. After 4 months of storage, the conidia were at over 80% viability in all but the 19% moisture content group of the 25 C treatment and all the samples stored at lower temperatures. In a second experiment, conidia dried to 4-5% moisture content showed greater temperature tolerance than conidia with higher moisture contents. Short-term storage under adverse conditions could be feasible with conidia dried to a suitable degree.  相似文献

A field trial was conducted to test the efficacy of an oil formulation of the entomopathogenic fungus , Metarhizium flavoviride Gams & Rozsypal (Deuteromycotina: Hyphomycetes) , as a control agent for the desert locust , Schistocerca gregaria Forskal (Orthoptera: Acrididae) , in Mauritania . The treatment was applied to hopper bands in the field . In caged samples of the treated insects , 99% mortality was observed in 15 days . On average during application only 51% of the hoppers received spray droplets directly , the additional mortality being due to pick - up of spores from the spray residue . This mortality was assessed by exposing insects to a treated plot at intervals , and monitoring disease levels during subsequent incubation in cages . The spray residue remained highly infective for a period of 6 days after application . The number of nymphs in the hopper bands was estimated using a computer - based photographic image - processing technique . Unfortunately , most of the hopper bands dispersed into small groups , but a population reduction could be demonstrated for one hopper band . Maximal daily mortality in the field was observed 10 - 11 days after application , compared with 6 - 10 days in cages .  相似文献

One Indonesian isolate of the fungus Metarhizium anisopliae, named Majalengka strain, was evaluated not only for its virulence but also for the immune response of rice grasshopper Oxya japonica (Orthoptera: Acrididae) as a target organism. Five aqueous suspensions with different conidia concentrations in logarithmic series were prepared. The fungus showed high virulence as it caused 100% mortality at low conidia concentration (1.5 × 102 conidia/mL). Remarkable changes in the cellular and humoral responses were also observed when adult grasshoppers were infected with the fungus. The number of hemocytes decreased significantly within 12 h after infection. In addition, the total number of granulocytes increased rapidly in the first 12 h then gradually decreased 24 and 48 h after infections, while the number of coagulocytes fluctuated over time. The infection influenced the humoral response by increasing the phenoloxidase activity.  相似文献

对水稻重要害虫褐飞虱Nilaparvata lugens目前市场上尚无一种理想的微生物杀虫剂。昆虫病原真菌具有从体壁侵入的能力因而对刺吸性害虫的防治具有优势。为此, 本研究选用不同原寄主和来源地的3种昆虫病原真菌(金龟子绿僵菌Metarhizium anisopliae、 黄绿绿僵菌Metarhizium flavoviride和球孢白僵菌Beauveria bassiana)的12个不同菌株, 以1 100孢子/mm2孢子悬浮液进行室内毒力测定。结果表明: 在参试的不同菌种12个菌株中, 黄绿绿僵菌Mf82菌株对褐飞虱成虫致病力最高, 10 d累计校正死亡率为83.5%, 致死中时(LT50)为4.6 d。其不同浓度孢子液对褐飞虱3个发育阶段有不同程度的致病力, 毒力大小顺序为成虫>高龄若虫>低龄若虫。黄绿绿僵菌孢子液对各处理稻株褐飞虱产卵痕部位、 卵粒均有侵染作用, 10 d侵染率分别为66.7%和51.2%, 卵龄越低, 侵染效果越好, 卵龄为0.5 d时侵染率最高。本研究表明黄绿绿僵菌Mf82菌株对褐飞虱成虫、 若虫和卵均有较强的致病性, 是一株极具应用潜力的生防真菌。  相似文献

Metarhizium anisopliae is being used in Australia as a biopesticide for control of sugarcane whitegrubs in soil. The field persistence in sugarcane soil of two isolates of M. anisopliae each in four formulations was tested by mixing the formulation with soil which was then placed in PVC rings and buried in sugarcane fields. The two isolates used were FI-1045, M. anisopliae var. anisopliae, the active ingredient in BioCane™ currently used for greyback canegrub control, Dermolepida albohirtum (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Melolonthinae), and FI-147, M. anisopliae var. lepidiotum, being tested as a biopesticide for Lepidiota spp. (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Melolonthinae) and other species of canegrub. The four formulations were rice granules (as in BioCane™), a wettable powder derived from conidia screened from the rice granules, conidia off rice suspended in water and conidia produced on agar plates, dried, and then mixed with water for adding to soil. FI-1045 was tested at three different sites in north Queensland with a range of soil types and climatic conditions while FI-147 was tested at three similarly diverse sites in southern Queensland. The PVC rings were destructively sampled every 6 months for 3.5 years and the number of viable conidia remaining determined by plating onto a selective medium. The exponential decay was determined. Monthly decay rates ranged from 0.0309 to 0.0835 (mean 0.0512). A small proportion of conidia survived the 3.5 years at all sites and all formulations. Overall, isolate FI-147 persisted better than FI-1045, but was used at the more Southerly sites. Rainfall and soil type had negligible effects on persistence. The agar-produced FI-147 conidia declined most slowly, while the two rice-produced but water-formulated conidia gave similar results. Isolate FI-1045 survived best as the BioCane™ formulation and this rice granule formulation was almost as persistent as the agar conidia with FI-147. A small proportion of conidia, in some formulations and at some sites, were recovered from immediately below the rings. This movement was thought to be due to activity of earthworms or mites. The results suggest that 3 years would be the maximum period for a BioCane™ formulation to provide some level of infection in the target pest unless augmented by conidia from infected grubs. The effectiveness of these new conidia may be reduced due to their highly aggregated distribution.  相似文献

The visual behavior of adult Melanoplus sanguinipesF. (Orthoptera: Acrididae) was investigated by placing individuals in the center of an arena and recording their orientation responses to visual targets at the perimeter of the arena. Targets that reflected more 540- to 570-nm light were approached more frequently; however, when reflectance in the 540 -to 570-nm region was combined with reflectance in the 400- to 520-nm region, orientation responses were reduced significantly. This suggests that spectral discrimination in M. sanguinipesinvolves at least two classes of photoreceptors, which respond to different regions of the wavelength spectrum. In addition, grasshoppers oriented to vertical, but not horizontal, contrasting stripes. However, when vertical stripes were added to targets reflecting 520- to 650-nm light, responses to verticals on these targets were not enhanced relative to verticals presented against a target background of 400- to 520-nm + 520- to 650-nm light. Thus, spectral discrimination and vertical stripe fixation appear to be two distinct visual behaviors, controlled by outputs from two classes of photoreceptors and a single class of photoreceptors, respectively, and may be used in different physiological or ecological contexts.  相似文献

The in vitro compatibility of Metarhizium acridum strain IMI 330189 with different concentrations of Neem seed oil Azadirachta indica A. Juss. was investigated under laboratory conditions. Water, diesel and ground nut oil dilutions of M. acridum were inoculated into semi-synthetic culture medium with Neem oil and incubated for 10 days at 20, 28, and 34°C. Fungus vegetative growth and conidia production were estimated and compatibility calculated according to the in vitro classification model [T]. Field tests were also conducted during two successive years, where fourth instar nymphs of the Tree Locust, Anacridium melanorhodon melanorhodon, were sprayed with Metarhizium, Metarhizium/Neem mixture, Neem, or Malathion, on a plantation of Acacia senegal. Samples of the treated nymphs were taken 24 h after application, placed in cages and their mortality observed daily for 3 weeks. The compatibility test revealed that at 28°C, all Neem concentrations below 2% were compatible with M. acridum and concentrations of 2 and 2.5% were moderately toxic, while at 20°C, 1.0% Neem was not compatible with the fungus. In the field, Metarhizium+Neem resulted in 74 and 92% mortality during two successive years compared to 64 and 83% for Metarhizium alone. These findings clearly reveal that Neem concentration on the mixture could be increased to just under 1.0% Neem without negative impact on the fungus and that mixing Metarhizium with small quantities of Neem oil accelerates locust mortality and increases efficacy.  相似文献

Dericorys albidula Serville (Orthoptera: Dericorythidae) is a major pest of Haloxylon ammodendron and other saxaul plant species in the Qom province, Iran. Using fungal insecticides can be an alternative method for chemical insecticides. Effect of insecticide fungi, Metarhizium anisopliae var. acridum, on the various nymphs of D. albidula was studied in the field through 2005 and 2006. Fixed concentrations of fungi (106, 107, 108, 109, 1010 and 1013 spore mL?1) were prepared as gasoline formulation and were sprayed on the locusts on H. ammodendron trees, and mortality percentage was recorded 15 days after treatment. The results showed that various concentrations significantly affected on the second, third, fourth and fifth nymphal instars of D. albidula compared to control in 2006, although this effect was lower in 2005 on nymphs. Mortality of the highest concentration (1013 spore mL?1) was higher (17.6–24%) than other concentrations in all tests, but these values were not notable. The results of this study showed that using M. anisopliae var. acridum diluted in gasoline can be effective on nymphal instars of locust, D. albidula, in two continuous years.  相似文献

A comparative study of male and female genitalia was carried out in thirty‐seven Libyan species representing twenty genera of the family Acrididae. An attempt has been made to describe and illustrate the different structures, namely, epiphallus, aedeagus, subgenital plate, supra‐anal plate and cerci of the male, and spermatheca, ovipositor, subgenital plate, supra‐anal plate and cerci of the female, in Acridids, with an aim to discover their significance in order to make the identification of genera and species, together with other generic characters, more perfect and convenient. Distinct family characters are shield or bridge‐shaped condition of epiphallus; presence or absence of dorso‐lateral appendices, oval sclerites and lophi on epiphallus; divided, undivided or flexured condition of aedeagus; presence or absence of gonopore process on aedeagus; condition of apical and pre‐apical diverticula of spermatheca; presence or absence of glandular pouches of Cornstock and Kellog on female subgenital plate; and rudimentary or well developed condition of egg‐guide. Stable characters for separating the subfamilies are taken to be presence or absence of ancorae on epiphallus, long or short condition of aedeagal sclerites; elongate, slender or short and broad condition of ovipositor valves: presence or absence of Jannone's organs and setae on posterior margin of female subgenital plate; and shape of diverticula of spermatheca. Useful generic characters are shape of male subgenital plate, supra‐anal plate and cerci, broad or narrow condition of bridge, presence or absence of branch of bridge connecting lophi with bridge of epiphallus; mono‐, bi‐ or tri‐lobate condition of lophi of epiphallus, length and upcurved or downcurved condition of apical valve of aedeagus, shape of posterior margin of female subgenital plate, presence of setae on the whole posterior margin or confined to lateral margins only; and toothed, tuberculate or smooth condition of ovipositor valves, length of the lateral apodeme in relation to the dorsal valves. Specific characters are shape of egg‐guide of female subgenital plate, shape of ovipositor valves and apical tips, shape of male supra‐anal plate and cerci, size of anterior and posterior lobes of lophi of epiphallus, size and shape of ancorae, shape of apical valves of aedeagus; and size of apical and pre‐apical diverticula and presence of protuberance on pre‐apical diverticulum.  相似文献

In Mali, adolescent girls face many physical stresses which, with a history of poor nutrition, can result in delayed growth and development. Despite the fact that adolescent girls encounter nutritional demands, most research in Mali has focused only on young children. This study examines anthropometric and reproductive data on 1,056 adolescent girls (aged 10-17 years) from the Segou Region of Mali. When compared to the reference population, the Malian girls exhibited poorer indicators of growth and development. Z-scores for height-for-age and weight-for-age were below 0 at all ages. Urban girls had better indicators of growth than rural girls. The body composition data show that the Malian girls have lower body fat than reference girls. Menarche was delayed by about 1.5 years compared to girls from the United States and Europe. Delayed growth and development may be due to many factors, including a history of undernutrition, poor socioeconomic status, and increased energy demands.  相似文献

Chorthippus lacustris is an endemic grasshopper (Orthoptera) species in Epirus, Greece. Its population status, habitat characteristics, and relation to historical and current human land use are investigated. The species has a restricted and fragmented distribution pattern. Five locations, four within Pamvotida Lake basin and one in Lake Paramythia, cover a total of 0.12 km2. It is strongly dependent on wet grasslands, flooded on a seasonal basis. The greatest population density is recorded in the site with the greatest diversity of dominant plant species. Ch. lacustris is estimated to have lost 85–99% of its habitat during the last 50 years due to wetland drainage. The main threat to the species survival is further habitat loss by urbanisation around Pamvotida Lake and by land conversion to agriculture in Paramythia Lake, even though both sites belong to the Natura 2000 network. The species status is Critically Endangered and it should be listed in Annex II of the Habitat Directive (92/43/EEC) as a priority species for conservation. Restoring wet grasslands, protecting them from further urbanisation and drainage, and monitoring species population are the main measures proposed for its conservation.  相似文献

【目的】害虫的取食潜力反映了其生态学和经济学特性,这些知识有助于扩展其控制措施。能否将害虫物种按亲缘关系的远近进行分组,对它们在发育或成熟期的取食量进行定量排序?了解不同害虫种类的取食模式有助于这一问题的解答。 【方法】对印度4种蝗科农业害虫--等岐蔗蝗Hieroglyphus banian (Fab.), 暗翅剑角蝗Acrida exaltata (Walk.), 中华板胸蝗Spathosternum prasiniferum prasiniferum (Walk.) 和 Oxya fuscovittata (Mars.)的取食量进行了定量测定,估测了4种害虫雌雄各若虫龄期及整个成虫期的每日取食量和总取食量。【结果】基于其多食性特征和存在多种食物来源的情况,所有测试中均只提供最为偏好的寄主植物。在研究的4种害虫中,观察到相同的取食率模式,取食率随着若虫龄期的增加而逐步增加。4种害虫的雌虫取食量均显著高于雄虫,且成虫期害虫的取食量显著高于幼期。各龄若虫和成虫的取食量与对应的若虫或成虫历期明显相关。就整个生活期的取食量和平均存活率而言,暗翅剑角蝗A. exaltata 和中华板胸蝗S. pr. prasiniferum 的亲缘关系比其他两种昆虫略近。就整个生活期的取食量和平均存活率而言,单化性害虫(等岐蔗蝗H. banian)和二化性害虫(暗翅剑角蝗A. exaltata) 比另外两种近缘的多化性害虫(中华板胸蝗S. pr. prasiniferum 和 O. fuscovittata)的亲缘关系更近一些。【结论】寿命长的物种(每年可完成1~2个世代)在取食潜力方面比寿命短的物种(每年完成2代以上的世代)更具有可比性。通过对多个不同化性的害虫物种的研究,使我们在这方面能达到更全面的认识。  相似文献
