This study was conducted to evaluate the influence of boron (B) application through seed coating on leaf elongation, tillering, water relations, panicle sterility, kernel yield, and grain biofortification of fine grain aromatic rice. Boron was applied as seed coating at 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, and 3.0 g B kg?1 seed in two rice cultivars Super Basmati and Shaheen Basmati. Boron seed coating significantly affected the leaf elongation, water relations, panicle fertility, kernel yield and grain biofortification in both rice cultivars. However, seed coating with 1.0–2.0 g B kg?1 seed was effective in improving the leaf emergence and elongation, and tillering. Whereas water relations (water and osmotic potential) were improved by all B seed coating treatments, but pressure potential was only improved from seed coating with 2.0–3.0 g B kg?1 seed. Kernel yield was improved by all B seed coating treatments; however seed coating with 2 g B kg?1 seed was the most effective treatment in this regard. Increase in kernel yield, by B seed coating, was attributed to decrease in panicle sterility. Leaf and kernel B contents were increased with increase in B concentration in seed coating.  相似文献

Over exploitation of groundwater and decreasing canal water resources are threating the productivity of conventional rice production systems in Asia which is the main rice bowl. Therefore, strategies are needed to produce more rice with less water in the shortest possible duration without compromising the yield to feed the increasing world population. Panicle sterility is one of the major obstacles in wide‐scale adoption of water‐saving rice production systems. Boron (B) deficiency, in water‐saving rice production systems, has been identified as a possible reason for panicle sterility. This 2‐year field study was aimed to investigate the potential of pre‐optimised boron application through various methods in improving the productivity of short‐duration basmati rice (Shaheen Basmati) in water‐saving production systems, as delivered through seed priming (0.1 mM boron), foliar spray (200 mM boron) or soil application (1 kg boron ha?1), while hydropriming and no boron application were taken as control. Boron nutrition, by either way, improved the growth, water relations, morphology, yield‐related traits, panicle fertility, grain yield, grain quality and grain boron contents of short‐duration basmati rice; nonetheless, boron application as seed priming was superior and cost effective with maximum marginal rate of return. In conclusion, boron nutrition through seed priming is cost effective and may help improving the productivity, quality, and boron grain contents in short‐duration basmati rice under water‐saving production systems.  相似文献

This study was conducted to investigate the benefits associated with re-drying after seed priming with polyamines. Wheat (cv. AS-2002) seeds were soaked in 10 and 20 mg L−1 aerated solutions of spermidine (Spd), putrescine (Put) and spermine (Spm), and distilled water (CK2) for 12 h at 28 ± 2°C. Untreated seeds (CK1) and priming in distilled water (CK2) were taken as control treatments. Seeds were primed in two sets: In one set, after each treatment, seeds were given three surface washings with distilled water and dried closer to original moisture; in the other, seeds were only surface dried and used immediately. Use of surface-dried seeds after priming was more effective since it reduced emergence time and synchronized the emergence. Moreover, final emergence, shoot and root length, seedling fresh and dry weight were also improved. Improved starch metabolism was considered possible reason of seed invigoration. All the seed treatments resulted in a lower electrical conductivity of seed leachates compared with control; however, there was more decrease in seeds re-dried after priming than the seeds surface dried after priming. Although the effect of all the polyamines was stimulatory, Spd was the more effective for most of the attributes studied. Nonetheless, Put was more effective for seedling fresh and dry weights. All the polyamines were more effective at lower concentrations except Spm, which improved the coefficient of uniformity of emergence at high concentration. To conclude, if immediate sowing is possible, use of surface-dried seeds after priming may be more effective; seed priming with 10 mg L−1 Spd was the most effective technique when surface dried.  相似文献

Poor seedling establishment is a major deterrent in adopting direct seeding of rice. Seed priming to obtain better crop stand could be an attractive approach. The objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of seed priming strategies on the improved agronomic characters of direct-sown rice. Seed priming strategies were: hydropriming for 48 h, osmohardening with KCl or CaCl2 for 24 h, ascorbate priming for 48 h and seed hardening for 24 h, pre-germination (traditional soaking for nursery raising) and untreated control. Seed priming improved germination and emergence, allometry, kernel yield, and its quality, whilst pre-germination displayed poor and erratic emergence of seedling followed by poor plant performance. Faster and uniform emergence was due to improved α-amylase activity, which increased the level of soluble sugars in the primed kernels. Osmohardening with KCl gave greater kernel and straw yield and harvest index, followed by that of CaCl2, hardening and ascorbate priming. Improved yield was attributed principally to number of fertile tillers and 1000 kernel weight. A positive correlation between mean emergence time and days to heading, while a negative one between kernel yield and harvest index suggested long-term effects of seed priming on plant growth and development. The results suggest that physiological changes produced by osmohardening enhanced the starch hydrolysis and made more sugars available for embryo growth, vigorous seedling production and, later on, improved allometric, kernel yield and quality attributes.  相似文献

Samples of three seed lots of each of three cultivars of carrot, celery and onion were primed in polyethylene glycol solution for two weeks at 15 °C. Seedling emergence was recorded in the field for carrot and onion and in the glasshouse for celery. Compared to the untreated control, priming increased the percentage seedling emergence in certain poorly-emerging seed lots of carrot and celery, but had no effect on onion. Mean emergence times were reduced by priming in all seed lots, by 3–5, 5–8 and 3–9 days in carrot, celery and onion respectively. The largest effects occurred in the slowest-emerging seed lots. There were significant interactions between priming and seed lots within cultivars in carrot and celery and between priming and cultivars in celery and onion. Priming generally reduced the spread of emergence times, but the effects were not statistically significant in carrot. Drying back the primed seeds had no effect on percentage emergence in onion, but reduced it (compared to primed seed which had not been dried-back) in certain carrot and celery seed lots. Primed and dried-back seeds emerged later than primed seeds, by up to 1·5, 2·6 and 2·6 days in carrot, celery and onion respectively. The spread of emergence times was generally larger for primed and dried-back seeds than for primed seeds, but the differences were not always statistically significant. Plant fresh weights were recorded 9, 7 and 12 wk after sowing for carrot, celery and onion, respectively. In each species, mean plant weight was inversely related to seedling emergence time; thus plants grown from primed seed were always heavier than the controls, by up to 33%, 182% and 47% in carrot, celery and onion respectively.  相似文献

Drought stress hampers rice performance principally by disrupting the plant–water relations and structure of biological membranes. This study appraised the role of polyamines (PAs) in improving drought tolerance in fine grain aromatic rice (Oryza sativa L.). Three PAs [putrescine (Put), spermidine (Spd) and spermine (Spm)] were used each at 10 μM as seed priming (by soaking seeds in solution) and foliar spray. Primed and non-primed seeds were sown in plastic pots with normal irrigation in a phytotron. At four-leaf stage, plants were subjected to drought stress by bringing the soil moisture down to 50% of field capacity by halting water supply. For foliar application, 10 μM solutions each of Put, Spd and Spm were sprayed at five-leaf stage. Results revealed that drought stress severely reduced the rice fresh and dry weights, while PAs application improved net photosynthesis, water use efficiency, leaf water status, production of free proline, anthocyanins and soluble phenolics and improved membrane properties. PAs improved drought tolerance in terms of dry matter yield and net photosynthesis was associated with the maintenance of leaf water status and improved water use efficiency. Among the antioxidants, catalase activity was negatively related to H2O2 and membrane permeability, which indicated alleviation of oxidative damage on cellular membranes by PAs application. Foliar application was more effective than the seed priming, and among the PAs, Spm was the most effective in improving drought tolerance.  相似文献

In this study, the effect of seed priming using ascorbic acid (ASA) on three commercial wheat cultivars i.e., Punjab-2011, Faisalabad-2008, and Ujala-2016 under salinity stress in both homogenous and heterogeneous environments has been investigated. It revealed that different levels of salinity have significantly reduced the growth attributes like percent germination, germination index, radical & plumule length, seed vigor index (In-vitro), seedling length, fresh & dry weight, and total chlorophyll content (In-vivo) with subsequent treatments. Salinity stress was induced by using NaCl in three different concentrations (100, 150, and 200 mM). Seeds of the three cultivars primed with 50, 100, and 150 mg/L ascorbic-acids have not only improved percent germination but also considerably reduced germination time and increased germination index (GI) indicating the potential for tolerating saline conditions. Seedling growth (seedling length, Fresh weight, and dry weight) of seeds primed with 50, 100, and 150 mg/L (ASA) was significantly higher than other non-primed seeds under the prevailing saline conditions. Hormonal priming with different concentrations of ascorbic acid was effective, nevertheless, the best results were obtained with 100 and 150 mg/L (ASA) concentrations. We concluded that the delay in germination and seedling growth was mainly due to excessive Na+ accumulation in the seeds of wheat cultivars. On the other hand, seed priming with various concentrations of ascorbic acid has proved to be effective in inducing salt tolerance in terms of germination parameters, seedling characteristics, and chlorophyll retention in the three local commercial wheat cultivars.  相似文献

Low temperature at stand establishment and high temperature at reproductive stage are involved in reduction of grain yield of spring maize. A field study was therefore conducted to evaluate different physiological strategies for improving performance of spring maize under temperature extremes. Seed priming and foliar spray with 3% moringa leaf extract (MLE) and 100 mg L-1 kinetin solution alone or in all possible combinations with each other at three growth stages (knee height, tasseling and grain filling stage) and hydropriming was compared with control. Seed priming plus foliar spray of MLE and kinetin significantly improved stand establishment especially under early sown crop as indicated by reduced mean emergence time (MET), improved emergence index (EI) and final emergence percentage (FEP). Similarly increased chlorophyll contents, crop growth rate, leaf area index, photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate, relative water content and decreased membrane permeability were recorded in both early and optimum sowing conditions in MLE priming plus foliar spray treatment. All these improvements were harvested in the form of increased yield and harvest index compared with control treatment. Overall crop sown at optimum time performed best but exogenous application of MLE through seed priming and foliar spray maximally improved the performance of early sown maize crop which is attributed more likely due to improved stand establishment, chlorophyll and phenolic contents, increased leaf area duration and grain filling period. It can be concluded that seed priming with MLE along with its foliar spray could increase production of maize under temperature extremes.  相似文献

Terminal drought and seed priming improves drought tolerance in wheat   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Plants retain the preceding abiotic stress memory that may aid in attainment of tolerance to subsequent stresses. This study was conducted to evaluate the influence of terminal drought memory (drought priming) and seed priming in improving drought tolerance in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). During first growing season, wheat was planted in field under optimal (well-watered) and drought stress imposed at reproductive stage (BBCH growth stage 49) until maturity (BBCH growth stage 83). Seeds collected from both sources were subjected to hydropriming or osmopriming (with 1.5% CaCl2 solution); while, dry seed was taken as control. Treated and control seeds, from both sources, were sown in soil filled pots. After the completion of seedling emergence, pots were maintained at 50% water holding capacity (drought) or 100% water holding capacity (well-watered). Drought stress suppressed the plant growth (2–44%), perturbed water relations (1–18%) and reduced yield (192%); however, osmolytes accumulation (3–14%) and malondialdehyde contents (26–29%) were increased under drought. The crop raised from the seeds collected from terminal drought stressed plants had better growth (5–63%), improved osmolyte accumulation (13–45%), and lower lipid peroxidation (3%) than the progeny of well-watered crop. Seed priming significantly improved the crop performance under drought stress as compared to control. However, osmopriming was more effective than hydropriming in this regard as it improved leaf area (9–43%), tissue water status (2–47%), osmolytes accumulation (6–48%) and grain yield (14–79%). In conclusion, terminal drought induced modifications in seed composition and seed priming improved transgenerational drought tolerance through improvement in tissue water status and osmolytes accumulation, and decrease in lipid peroxidation.  相似文献

Pepper seeds are slow to germinate and emergence is often non-uniform and incomplete, reducing gains from this cash crop. This study investigated the effects of pineapple stem- derived protease (stem bromelain) based priming on pepper seed germination in relation to reserve mobilization (specifically, proteins and amino acids), germination, emergence and plant growth. These parameters were compared across two controls, (1) unsoaked seeds and (2) seeds soaked in deionized water, and seeds soaked in pineapple stem bromelain crude extract (treatment). Seeds were soaked in bromelain crude extract possessing a proteolytic activity of 6.25 tU or deionized water (first control) for 3 h at 35 °C. Light microscopy revealed an abundance of protein bodies in the endosperm of the seeds prior to imbibition. When observed for a period of 96 h, these bodies were progressively degraded, with the rate of this degradation being fastest in bromelain-treated seeds. Quantitative analysis of protein levels confirmed this observation: 17.2 mg proteins/g FW at 120 h after priming in bromelain-treated seeds compared with 22.1 mg/g FW in controls (average). The bromelain treatment also increased levels of free amino acids from 3.9 mg/g FW in the controls to 4.6 mg/g FW after 120 h of imbibition. Germination and emergence percentages were initially higher in bromelain-treated seeds: 92.0% germination in bromelain-treated seeds vs. ~ 52.2% in the controls at 18 d; 100% emergence in protease-treated seeds vs. ~ 72.2% in the controls at 18 d. However, these parameters were comparable across the treatment and the controls at 28 d. Importantly, plant fresh and dry weights were significantly higher when seeds were primed with bromelain. The results suggest the use of bromelain extracts for priming pepper seeds based on their proteolytic activity, since germination is dependent on the availability of crude protein and essential amino acids. The benefits of bromelain seed priming appear to translate into improved seedling growth as well.  相似文献

Seed priming has proved to be an effective pre-germination seed invigoration technique for different crops to improve seed and seedling performance under different abiotic stresses. In Bangladesh, winter rice is very often exposed to cold waves just after sowing in the nursery bed resulting in poor seed germination and seedling emergence, yellowish and thin seedlings production, and a very low survival rate. Seed priming may mitigate the cold stress during seed germination and seedling emergence and helps in the quality seedling production of winter rice. To evaluate the efficacy of different seed priming techniques in increasing seedling emergence, growth, vigor and survivability of winter rice cultivars under cold stress, a pot experiment was conducted at the Department of Agronomy, Bangladesh Agricultural University during December 2018 to January 2019. The experiment comprised two factors, (A) Winter rice variety namely, i) BRRI dhan29 and ii) BRRI dhan36; (B) Seed priming agent namely i) Control (no priming), ii) 20000 ppm NaCl, iii) 30000 ppm NaCl, iv) 20000 ppm KCl, v) 30000 ppm KCl, vi) 20000 ppm CaCl2, vii) 30000 ppm CaCl2, viii) 50 ppm CuSO4, ix) 75 ppm CuSO4, x) 10000 ppm ZnSO4, xi) 15000 ppm ZnSO4, xii) 2 ppm Na2MoO4, xiii) 3 ppm Na2MoO4, xiv) 100 ppm PEG (Polyethylene glycol 4000) and xv) 150 ppm PEG. Seeds were sown on two different dates viz., 1st December and 1st January so that seedlings are exposed to cold stress at different stages. The experiment was laid out in a completely randomized design (CRD) with three replications. Results indicated that (in most of the cases) seed priming has a positive impact on seedling emergence rate (%), root length, shoot length, root shoot ratio, root dry weight, shoot dry weight, seedling dry weight and survival rate (%). Among the priming agents, KCl and CaCl2 performed best; while priming with NaCl and PEG showed no advantages over no priming for both the sowing dates. In general, BRRI dhan36 performed better than BRRI dhan29 in terms of seedling growth because of its higher tolerance to cold stress. But, both the varieties performed similarly in terms of emergence rate and survival rate. Thus, priming is an effective tool to increase seed germination, better seedling growth, and higher seedling survivability of winter rice under cold stress, and KCl (20000 ppm) or CaCl2 (20000 ppm) can be considered as a viable priming agent.  相似文献

Leek seed lots of high (91%) and low (82%) viability were primed in aerated polyethylene glycol (PEG) solutions in Bubble-columns and by a non-osmotic priming technique in both 1987 and 1988 and the seeds were then sown in the field. Both methods of priming established a similar seed moisture content during treatment and, in the laboratory, produced seeds with more rapid and uniform germination than untreated seeds, with a greater advantage for Drum compared with Bubble-column priming in PEG. In the field, both priming techniques gave seedling emergence responses similar to those from priming in PEG by the laboratory-scale technique on filter paper. Both large-scale priming methods gave earlier and more uniform emergence than untreated seeds and gave similar or slightly higher levels of seedling emergence, except on one sowing occasion when seeds were stored before sowing followed by sowing into a drying seedbed.  相似文献

Stevia (Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni) is an alternative sugar crop currently gaining importance in several geographic regions of the world. Generally, crop is propagated by seeds; however, low seed germination hinders the adaptability of the crop in different cropping systems. Seed priming with different compounds improves germination of several arable crops under stressful and benign environmental conditions. This study evaluated the role of different seed priming agents and priming durations on stand establishment, allometric and yield-related traits, and steviol glycosides contents of Stevia in two different experiments. The first experiment consisted of five different seed priming agents (i.e., hydropriming with distilled water, ascorbic acid, potassium chloride, benzyl amine purine and unprimed seeds) and five priming durations (0, 8, 16, 24 and 32 h). Seed priming with potassium chloride (KCl) and benzyl amine purine (BAP) for 32 h improved stand establishment and biochemical attributes of Stevia seeds. Therefore, these two seed priming agents along with unprimed seeds were included in the second experiment to quantify their impact on allometric and yield-related traits and steviol glycosides contents. Seed priming with both KCl and BAP resulted in better allometric traits (plant height, number of leaves per plant, leaf area and chlorophyll index) compared with unprimed seeds. Similarly, seed priming with KCl resulted in higher fresh and dry biomass production of stem and leaves. Nonetheless, higher stevioside and rebaudioside A contents were recorded for the seeds primed with KCl, whereas unprimed seeds resulted in the lowest values. It is concluded that Stevia seeds must be primed with KCl for 32 h before sowing to get higher seed germination, leaf yield and steviol glycosides contents. Nonetheless, the role of KCl priming in improving abiotic stress tolerance of Stevia must be explored in the future studies.  相似文献

Improving the performance of transplanted rice by seed priming   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Transplanting is the major method of rice cultivation in the world, in which seedlings are raised in nursery and then transplanted into well puddle and prepared fields. The traditional nursery sowing method is tedious and produces week seedlings that reduce the final yield due to high mortality. The potential of seed priming to improve the nursery seedlings and thus the transplanted rice was evaluated in the present study. The experiment was conducted in the rice growing area (31.45° N, 73.26° E, and 193 m) of Pakistan, during 2004–2005. Seed priming tools employed during the investigation included traditional soaking, hydropriming for 48 h, osmohardening with KCl or CaCl2s −1.25 MPa) for 24 h (one cycle), 10 ppm ascorbate for 48 h or seed hardening for 24 h. Priming improved the initial seedling vigor and resulted in improved growth, yield and quality of transplanted fine rice while traditional soaking behaved similar to that of untreated control. Osmohardening with CaCl2 resulted in the best performance, followed by hardening, ascorbate priming and osmohardening with KCl. Osmohardening with CaCl2 produced 3.75 t ha−1 (control: 2.87 t ha−1) kernel yield, 11.40 t ha−1 (control: 10.03 t ha−1) straw yield and 24.57% (control: 22.27%) harvest index. The improved yield was attributed due to increase in the number of fertile tillers. Significant positive correlation was found between mean emergence time of nursery seedlings and kernel yield, nursery seedling dry weight and kernel yield, fertile tillers and kernel yield, and leaf area duration and kernel yield.  相似文献

Though seed priming has been emerged as an effective and pragmatic approach, efforts are being made to discover and optimize the new priming agents which are cheaper and easily accessible to the farmers. Here, we established two independent experiments, to ascertain the role of aspirin priming in salinity tolerance of wheat. In the first experiment, various concentrations of aspirin (125, 250, 375, and 500 ppm) were examined for emergence and seedling growth of wheat. A non-primed control, hydropriming, and hydrogen peroxide priming treatments were also maintained for comparison. Among the different treatments, seeds primed with 125 and 250 ppm aspirin depicted better emergence, vigorous seedling growth, and higher starch metabolism. Therefore, these treatments were further used in the second experiment under salinity stress (10 dS m?1). Salinity stress caused delayed and erratic emergence hampered the shoot and root growth, chlorophyll contents, and enhanced the lipid peroxidation and phenolics content in wheat seedlings. However, wheat seed priming particularly with aspirin effectively alleviated the negative effects of salinity on most of the observed parameters. Aspirin priming also significantly enhanced the activities of antioxidant enzymes (catalase, peroxidase, and superoxide dismutase), and reduced oxidative stress in wheat seedlings. Vigorous growth and greater salinity tolerance of wheat seedlings derived from aspirin primed seeds were related with better starch metabolism, strong antioxidative defense system, and lower lipid peroxidation.  相似文献

Flash flooding of young rice plants is a common problem forrice farmers in south and south-east Asia. It severely reducesgrain yield and increases the unpredictability of cropping. The inheritance and expression of traits associated with submergencestress tolerance at the seedling stage are physiologically andgenetically complex. We exploited naturally occurring differencesbetween certain rice lines in their tolerance to submergenceand used quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping to improve understandingof the genetic and physiological basis of submergence tolerance.Three rice populations, each derived from a single cross betweentwo cultivars differing in their response to submergence, wereused to identify QTL associated with plant survival and variouslinked traits. These included total shoot elongation under water, the extent of stimulation of shoot elongation caused by submergence,a visual submergence tolerance score, and leaf senescence underdifferent field conditions, locations and years. Several majorQTL determining plant survival, plant height, stimulation ofshoot elongation, visual tolerance score and leaf senescenceeach mapped to the same locus on chromosome 9. These QTL weredetected consistently in experiments across all years and inthe genetic backgrounds of all three mapping populations. SecondaryQTL influencing tolerance were also identified and located onchromosomes 1, 2, 5, 7, 10 and 11. These QTL were specific toparticular traits, environments, or genetic backgrounds. Allidentified QTL contributed to increased submergence tolerancethrough their effects on decreased underwater shoot elongationor increased maintenance of chlorophyll levels, or on both. These findings establish the foundations of a marker-assistedscheme for introducing submergence tolerance into agriculturallydesirable cultivars of rice.  相似文献

Cytokinins are often considered abscisic acid (ABA) antagonists and auxins antagonists/synergists in various processes in plants. Seed enhancement (seed priming) with cytokinins is reported to increase plant salt tolerance. It was hypothesized that cytokinins could increase salt tolerance in wheat plants by interacting with other plant hormones, especially auxins and ABA. The present studies were therefore conducted to assess the effects of pre-sowing seed treatment with varying concentrations (100, 150 and 200 mg l−1) of cytokinins (kinetin and benzylaminopurine (BAP)) on germination, growth, and concentrations of free endogenous auxins and ABA in two hexaploid spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivars. The primed and non-primed seeds of MH-97 (salt-intolerant) and Inqlab-91 (salt-tolerant) were sown in both Petri dishes in a growth room and in the field after treatment with 15 dS m−1 NaCl salinity. Both experiments were repeated during 2002 and 2003. Among priming agents, kinetin was effective in increasing germination rate in the salt-intolerant and early seedling growth in the salt-tolerant cultivar when compared with hydropriming under salt stress. Thus, during germination and early seedling growth, the cytokinin-priming induced effects were cultivar specific. In contrast, kinetin-priming showed a consistent promoting effect in the field and improved growth and grain yield in both cultivars under salt stress. The BAP-priming did not alleviate the inhibitory effects of salinity stress on the germination and early seedling growth in both cultivars. The increase in growth and grain yield in both cultivars was positively correlated with leaf indoleacetic acid concentration and negatively with ABA concentration under both saline and non-saline conditions. The decrease in ABA concentration in the plants raised from kinetin-primed seeds might reflect diminishing influence of salt stress. However, the possibility of involvement of other hormonal interactions is discussed.

Insufficient stand establishment at early growth stages in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) due to drought stress is a major problem that limits overall efficiency and yield of crop. Priming of seed is an effective method for raising seed performance and improving tolerance of crops to abiotic stresses especially drought. The seeds of two local wheat cultivars (Kohistan-97 and Pasban-90) were soaked in distilled water or sodium selenate solutions of 25, 50, 75, and 100 μM for 1/2 or 1 h at 25 °C and later re-dried to their original moisture levels before sowing. One-hour priming significantly increased root length stress tolerance index, dry matter stress tolerance index, and total biomass of seedlings; however, no significant effect of changing duration of Se seed priming was observed on plant height stress tolerance index and shoot/root ratio. Among cultivars, Kohistan-97 was found to be more responsive to Se seed treatment as 1 h priming at 100 μM significantly increased its total biomass by 43 % as compared to control treatment. Although biomass of seedlings was not affected with Se seed priming under normal conditions, but it increased significantly with increase in rates of Se under drought stress conditions. One-hour priming at 75 μM increased the total sugar content and total free amino acids in both wheat cultivars. A more significant decrease in soluble proteins of seedlings was observed by 1 h priming than 1/2 h priming under drought stress conditions.  相似文献
