本文是8头白鱀豚(Lipotes vexillifer)的甲状腺及甲状旁腺的初步研究结果。白鱀豚甲状腺的解剖学和组织学结构与其它海豚相似。其甲状腺滤泡呈圆形或椭圆形,滤泡胶质嗜酸性,滤泡平均直径为106.4微米,滤泡上皮平均高为9.4微米,滤泡旁细胞平均直径为11.0微米。甲状旁腺分布在甲状腺的腹侧面或前、后方,其上皮细胞被结缔组织分隔成团索状。文中并讨论了白鱀豚甲状腺的一些组织形态变化。    相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate post cryotherapy thyroid function status of normal rat thyroid tissue and to determine the topography of temperature of cryotreated tissues and of tissues adjacent to them. Nitrous oxide cryotherapy was performed in 40 male Wistar rats. They were divided into four groups of 10. In group I, the right thyroid lobe was subjected to cryotherapy and the left lobe was not frozen. In group II, both thyroid lobes were cryotreated. In group III, the right lobe was frozen and the left lobe was excised. In group IV, the thyroid was subjected to neither cryotherapy nor surgery. During cryotherapy, the temperature in various places of the thyroid and in the surrounding tissues was measured. Serum thyrotropin concentrations were determined before an experiment and 4 weeks after in all rats. The results of temperature measurements proved that it is possible to limit cryotherapy to certain areas of thyroid tissue and to spare the neighboring tissues, because they are not subjected to temperatures that are damaging. The effectiveness of cryotherapy was confirmed by functional effect. Cryotherapy changed function of thyroid tissue. There was a statistically significant difference between mean baseline and follow-up concentrations in rats of groups II and III. In both groups hypothyroidism occurred post cryotherapy.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Fine needle aspiration (FNA) diagnosis of simultaneous medullary and papillary thyroid carcinoma in independent thyroid lobes is exceedingly rare. CASE: A 36-year-old female presented with a one-month history of dysphagia. Thyroid ultrasound revealed a multinodular goiter. She was clinically and biochemically euthyroid. FNA of the right thyroid nodule was consistent with medullary carcinoma, and FNA of the left thyroid lobe was consistent with papillary carcinoma. Immunohistochemistry revealed strong calcitonin and CEA positivity in the right lobe and lack of staining in the left lobe. Conversely, staining for thyroglobulin was negative on the right lobe and positive on the left lobe. CONCLUSION: The patient developed tumors in separate lobes of the thyroid. Immunoreactivity of calcitonin, CEA and thyroglobulin made a sharp distinction between the two tumors. Therefore, we conclude that these tumors were not linked by either embryology or genetics.  相似文献

ObjectiveTo report an unusual clinical scenario and a rare histopathologic finding of Hürthle cell thyroid carcinoma in a patient with an autonomous thyroid nodule.MethodsWe describe the presentation and clinical course leading to the surprising histopathologic diagnosis of Hürthle cell carcinoma in a pediatric patient who was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism presenting as a solitary toxic nodule.ResultsA 13-year-old white girl presented with a recent history of a palpable thyroid nodule during a routine primary care clinic visit. She was asymptomatic, and thyroid function tests revealed a suppressed thyrotropin concentration, high-normal free thyroxine concentration, and elevated triiodothyronine concentration. The patient underwent dedicated thyroid ultrasonography revealing a 3.5-cm complex mass in the left lobe with increased central vascularity. Iodine 123 imaging of the thyroid demonstrated homogenous, hyperintense activity in the left lobe. The right lobe was not visualized. A solitary toxic nodule was diagnosed, and, considering her age, she was referred for surgical management. The patient underwent a left lobectomy with isthmusectomy. Pathologic examination revealed a 5-cm, encapsulated, well-differentiated Hürthle cell carcinoma with negative margins and no lymphovascular invasion. The patient underwent subsequent completion thyroidectomy with no evidence of residual carcinoma in the right thyroid lobe.ConclusionsMalignancy in autonomously functioning thyroid nodules is rare. Most of the thyroid nodules presenting as “hot” on radioiodine scintigraphy are benign follicular adenomas. However, this case represents a rare clinical entity, and it highlights the need for clinicians to be vigilant and aware that occasionally carcinomas can masquerade as scintigraphic “hot” nodules. Increased plasma fibrinogen concentrations are a recognized risk factor for coronary heart disease, and increased fibrinogen levels in adults are associated with parameters of reduced early growth. We studied fibrinogen gene expression in adult offspring of dams fed either a 20% (control) or an 8% protein diet [maternal low-protein (MLP) rats] during pregnancy and lactation and determined whether any effects were consistent between left and right liver lobes, since the fetal liver has a unique blood supply that produces differential stimuli to the left and right lobes. In MLP offspring, there was a reduction in all three fibrinogen mRNA copy numbers in the left liver lobe [left vs. right lobes for alpha-, beta-, and gamma-fibrinogen (x10(6) copies/ng total RNA): 8.04 vs. 23.16, P<0.001; 4.74 vs. 13.07, P<0.001; and 4.61 vs. 16.38, P = 0.007, respectively], with a parallel reduction in fibrinogen concentration in the left liver lobe (8.53+/-0.33 vs. 10.41 +/-0.65 arbitrary units, P = 0.014, left and right lobes, respectively). No such effect was observed in offspring of control dams. To investigate the underlying mechanism, glucocorticoid receptor function and mRNA levels were studied, since expression of fibrinogen genes is regulated by glucocorticoid hormones. The binding affinity of the high-affinity glucocorticoid receptor was reduced only in the left liver lobe of the MLP offspring (P = 0.02, left. vs. right), with a parallel reduction in this lobe in glucocorticoid receptor mRNA level (P = 0.006, left vs. right). In conclusion, maternal dietary protein restriction reduces fibrinogen gene expression, fibrinogen protein, and mRNA level and binding affinity of glucocorticoid receptors only in the left liver lobe of the adult offspring.  相似文献

The 1-8 rat thyroid tumor line with a thyrotropin and cholera toxin receptor defect and a deficiency in higher order membrane gangliosides is shown to regain both receptor functions with the in vivo resynthesis or the in vitro reconstitution of higher order gangliosides. Reconstitution was achieved by exposing primary cell cultures of the tumor to preparations of gangliosides from thyroid cells with functional thyrotropin receptor activity.  相似文献

Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is the most frequent thyroid carcinoma. PTC cell lines have been of considerable value in studying aspects of thyroid cancer, such as gene expression, cell proliferation, and differentiation. Here we report three novel PTC lines established from three patients with different backgrounds. Case 1 was a 38-year-old woman with PTC in the right thyroid lobe, with no metastasis. The cell line was established from the resection sample and named D-PTC. The cell line consisted of epithelial cells with few lysosomes and showed a pavement structure and follicular formation at confluency. There was a little pilling up. The secretion of free thyroxin (fT4) and thyroglobulin (Tg) was increased by TSH, or GH and IGF-I treatment. Case 2 was a 22-year-old woman with PTC initially in the right thyroid lobe, but 4 years after the right lobe resection, PTC metastasis was observed in left lobe. The cell line was established from a sample of the second resection and named UD-PTC. This cell line consisted of small epithelial cells with evident lysosomes and exhibited floating cell clusters. The secretion of fT4 and Tg was slightly increased by TSH, or GH and IGF-I treatment. Case 3 was an 85-year-old man with PTC and with acromegaly. Metastasis was observed at cervical lymph nodes. The cell line was derived from the metastasis region and named A-PTC. This cell line consisted of small epithelial cells and many lysosomes. The cells frequently showed pilling up. The secretion of fT4 and Tg was significantly increased by GH and IGF-I treatment. We have established three PTC cell lines with substantial variation in their phenotype. The cell lines may be useful for thyroid cancer research.  相似文献

Significant differences in the area of cell nuclei of the left and right lobes of the interrenal glad have been revealed within the spawning period in two flounder species—the the barfin plaice Liopsetta pinnifasciata and the Korean flounder Glyptocephalus stelleri, which testifies to the different functional activities of these lobes and, accordingly, about the functional asymmetry of the interrenal glad. Individuals with a functionally more active right lobe of the gland prevail for the barfin plaice, whereas with the Korean flounder the number of individuals with a more active left lobe is equal to the number of individuals with a more active right lobe.  相似文献

The bronchial ramification and lobular division in lungs of two chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes) were examined from the viewpoint of comparative anatomy, on the basis of the fundamental structure of bronchial ramification of the mammalian lung (Nakakuki, 1975, 1980). The right lung of the chimpanzee consists of the upper, middle, and lower lobes, whereas the left lung consists of the middle and lower lobes. The right and left lungs have the dorsal bronchiole system, lateral bronchiole system, and medial bronchiole system. The ventral bronchiole system is lacking on both sides. The right upper lobe is formed by the first branch of the dorsal bronchiole system. The right middle lobe is formed by the first branch of the lateral bronchiole system, and the right accessory lobe bronchiole is lacking. The remaining bronchioles constitute the right lower lobe. In the left lung, the upper and accessory lobes are lacking. The well developed middle lobe is formed by the first branch of the lateral bronchiole system. The left lower lobe is formed by the remaining bronchioles. Furthermore, these bronchioles are compared with those of the human lung byBoyden (1955).  相似文献

Since early neuropathological findings, temporal lobe has been related to the pathophysiology of some disorders with psychotic features. The aim of this study was to compare temporal lobe volumes and asymmetry differences in patients with schizophrenia, schizoaffective and bipolar disorders, disorders that cover the whole psychotic spectrum. Temporal lobe volumes were estimated using high resolution magnetic resonance imaging in 60 subjects, 15 subjects in each patient and one healthy volunteer (control) group. There are no statistically significant differences in temporal lobe volumes among patient and control groups. Comparison of left and right temporal lobes shows that left temporal lobes are smaller than right temporal lobes, however this difference reaches statistical significance only in groups of patients with schizoaffective and bipolar disorders. Overall temporal lobe volume may be less informative in respect to neuropathology of disorders with psychotic features than volumes of specific temporal lobe structures, in particular medial temporal lobe structures.  相似文献

The existence of the ductus venosus in mammalian fetal liver determines a different blood flow in the right and left lobes. This asymmetry is associated to a decrease in oxygen delivery to the right lobe. Some stages in oxygen metabolism are related to the formation of free radicals that can induce cellular damage dependent on the tissue oxygen concentration and on the activity of the enzymatic and non enzymatic systems involved in the tissue protection. In the present study, the differences in the lipid peroxidative status and some parameters related to the protection against oxygen toxicity between both lobes in the sheep fetal liver were analyzed and compared to the same parameters in the dam liver.  相似文献

The thyrotropin receptor from bovine thyroid plasma membranes has been solubilized using lithium diiodosalicylate, and an assay to measure thyrotropin binding to the solubilized receptor has been developed. Both the solubilized thyrotropin receptor and the thyrotropin receptor on thyroid plasma membranes have effectively identical nonlinear Scatchard plots and negatively sloped Hill plots, i.e. both preparations have receptors which appear to exhibit a similar negatively cooperative relationship. Although the pH optimum of thyrotropin binding to the solubilized receptor is the same as that of the thyroid plasma membrane receptor, pH 6.0, the pH dependency curve of the solubilized receptor is slightly different in its outline. Thyrotropin binding to the solubilized receptor is less sensitive to salt inhibition than is binding to the thyroid plasma membrane receptor; however, optimal binding remains at 0 degrees. The relative affinities of thyrotropin and two glycoprotein hormones which can be considered structural analogs, luteinizing hormone and human chorionic gonadotropin, are 100:10:5, respectively, toward plasma membrane receptors, but 100:25:40 toward the solubilized receptors. The solubilized receptor preparation is heterogeneous in size in that it has binding components with molecular weights of 286,000, 160,000, 75,000, and 15,000 to 30,000. Tryptic digestion converts all three higher molecular weight components to the 15,000 to 30,000 molecular weight species, and the 15,000 to 30,000 molecular weight receptor component has all of the binding properties of the solubilized receptor preparation before tryptic digestion including an identical nonlinear Scatchard plot. It has the same size as and coelutes from Sephadex G-100 with a 15,000 to 30,000 molecular weight receptor released by tryptic digestion of bovine thyroid plasma membranes or tryptic digestion of bovine or dog thyroid cells in culture. The tryptic fragment of the solubilized receptor or preparations has been purified almost 250-fold by affinity chromatography on thyrotropin-Sepharose columns. The binding activity is lost when the solubilized thyrotropin receptor preparation is exposed to beads of neuraminidase-Sepharose or conconavalin A-Sepharose.  相似文献

The authors examined the lung of one Diana monkey (Cercopithecus diana). The right lung consists of upper, middle, lower, and accessory lobes, the upper and middle lobes being united dorsally. The accessory and lower lobes are separated from the other lobes by fissures. The left lung consists of a bi-lobed middle lobe and a lower lobe. These lobes are separated by an interlobular fissure. The Diana monkey has dorsal, lateral, ventral, and medial bronchiole systems on either side. The upper lobe is formed by the first bronchiole of the dorsal bronchiole system. The middle lobe is formed by the first bronchiole of the lateral bronchiole system and the accessory lobe is formed by the first bronchiole of the ventral bronchiole system. The remaining bronchioles of the four bronchiole systems constitute the lower lobe. The right pulmonary artery runs across the ventral side of the right upper lobe bronchiole, and then across the dorsal side of the right middle lobe bronchiole. Thereafter, it runs between the dorsal and lateral bronchiole systems, along the dorso-lateral side of the right bronchus. During its course, the right pulmonary artery gives off arterial branches running along the dorsal or lateral side of each bronchiole. The left pulmonary artery runs across the dorsal side of the left middle lobe bronchiole. Thereafter, it follows the same course as in the right lung, giving off arterial branches. The pulmonary veins run along the ventral or medial side of the bronchiole, and between the bronchioles.  相似文献

In recent years cryotherapy has been more and more frequently used for the treatment of tumors of different organs. Until now, the use of cryotherapy for the treatment of thyroid lesions, as well as histopathologic changes in thyroid tissue after cryotherapy, has not been described. Nitrous oxide cryotherapy of one thyroid lobe in twenty 12-week male Wistar rats was performed. After 2 and 4 weeks, the cryotreated thyroid lobe and the second lobe along with a part of the trachea, esophagus, and the subhyoid muscles adhering to the thyroid were excised and assessed macro- and microscopically. The macroscopic evaluation, performed 2 and 4 weeks postcryotherapy, revealed atrophy of the cryotreated lobe in 4 and 3 rats, respectively, and reduction of the cryotreated lobe dimensions in 6 and 7 rats, respectively. In the specimens of the lobes excised 2 weeks following cryotherapy, examined microscopically, necrosis, granulomatous inflammation, hemorrhages, and hemosiderin deposits were found most often, whereas in the specimens of the lobe excised after 4 weeks lymphocytic inflammation and fibrosis were mainly observed. No microscopic changes were observed in the thyroid lobes that were not frozen or in the parathyroid glands located inside these lobes or extrathyroidally, either ipsilaterally or contralaterally to the cryotreated thyroid lobes. There was no microscopic damage to other tissues adjacent to the thyroid gland. No rat developed vocal cord dysfunction after cryotherapy and no significant changes in serum calcium level before and after cryotherapy were observed. The results obtained show that it is possible to cryoblate thyroid tissue without damaging the tissues adjacent to the thyroid, as well as to spare function of the recurrent laryngeal nerves and parathyroid glands.  相似文献

ABSTRACT: BACKGROUND: Post-stroke mania is an infrequent complication after stroke, and the mechanisms underlying this disorder remain unclear. Although a contralesional release phenomenon has been implicated in post-stroke mania, empirical findings are lacking. Case Presentation: we preset a case report of post stroke mania. Single photon emission tomography (SPECT) was performed twice, during the manic state and during the remitted euthymic state.The first SPECT study performed during the manic state demonstrated hypoperfusion in the right temporal and frontal regions due to right putaminal hemorrhage. It also showed hyperperfusion in the inferior lateral prefrontal lobe, the temporal lobe, and the medial and lateral parts of the parietal lobe in the left hemisphere. The second SPECT study performed during the euthymic state demonstrated moderate improvement in the hypoperfusion in the right fronto-temporal regions. Furthermore, compared to the findings on the first SPECT study, the second study showed that the focal hyperperfusion in the anterior insular cortex, inferior lateral prefrontal lobes, and superior-middle temporal gyrus in the left hemisphere had vanished. CONCLUSION: Increased left inferior prefrontal and anterior insular activity and reduced extensive right fronto-temporal lobe activity are involved in the development of post-stroke mania.  相似文献

The hormone calcitonin, which occurs predominantly within the C cells of the mammalian thyroid gland, is also found within the pulmonary endocrine cells of the epithelium of the tracheobronchial tree. A study was made of the distribution of immunoreactive calcitonin (iCT) in the African green monkey. Using two different region-specific antisera, the total respiratory iCT comprised 2.5% and 5.8% of the total thyroid iCT. The mean concentration of iCT in the right lung exceeded that in the left, and the mean concentration of the right middle or right upper lobe exceeded that of all other lobes. Embryologically, the ultimobranchial bodies contribute their iCT-producing C cell primordia to the thyroid gland near the level of the primitive laryngotracheal cleft and shortly after the early arborization of the bronchial tree. In monkeys and most other mammals, the right main stem bronchus is larger and develops earlier than the left. The data suggest an early migration of cells from the ultimobranchial bodies to the bronchi, eventually giving rise to the iCT-containing pulmonary endocrine cells.  相似文献

The lungs of three silvered lutongs (Presbytis cristata) were examined. The right and left lungs have the dorsal, lateral, ventral, and medial bronchiole systems, which arise from the corresponding sides of both bronchi, respectively. Bronchioles in the dorsal and lateral bronchiole systems are well developed, whereas those in the ventral and medial bronchiole systems are poorly developed and lack some portions. According to the fundamental structure of bronchial ramifications of the mammalian lung (Nakakuki, 1975, 1980), the right lung consists of the upper, middle, lower, and accessory lobes, whereas the left lung consists of a bilobed middle lobe and a lower lobe, in which the right upper lobe is extremely well developed. The right pulmonary artery runs across the ventral side of the right upper lobe bronchiole, and then across the dorsal side of the right middle lobe bronchiole. Initially it runs along the lateral side of the right bronchus and then gradually comes to run along the dorsal side. During its course, it gives off branches which run mainly along the dorsal or lateral side of the bronchiole. The left pulmonary artery runs across the dorsal side of the left middle lobe bronchiole, and then follows the same course as that in the right lower lobe. The pulmonary veins run medially or ventrally to the bronchioles, and finally enter the left atrium as four or five large veins.  相似文献

The right lung has the dorsal, lateral, and ventral bronchiole systems, but the medial bronchiole system is lacking. The upper lobe is formed by the first branch of the dorsal bronchiole system. The middle lobe is formed by the first branch of the lateral bronchiole system. The accessory lobe is formed by the first branch of the ventral bronchiole system. The remaining bronchioles constitute the lower lobe. The left lung consists of the middle and lower lobes; the upper and accessory lobes are lacking. The left lung has the dorsal and lateral bronchiole systems, but the ventral and medial bronchiole systems are lacking. The middle lobe is formed by the first branch of the lateral bronchiole system. The remaining bronchioles constitute the lower lobe. The bronchial ramifications of the gorilla lung are rather similar to those of the human lung.  相似文献

The lobular division, bronchial tree, and blood vessels in lungs of seven squirrel monkeys (Saimiri sciureus) were examined from the viewpoint of comparative anatomy. The right lung of the squirrel monkey consists of the upper, middle, lower, and accessory lobes, whereas the left lung consists of the upper, middle, and lower lobes. These lobes are completely separated by interlobular fissures. In three of seven examples examined the left middle lobe was lacking. The squirrel monkey lung has four bronchiole systems, i.e. dorsal, lateral, ventral, and medial, on both sides. The upper lobes are formed by the first branches of the dorsal bronchiole systems. The middle lobes are formed by the first branches of the lateral bronchiole systems. The remaining bronchioles constitute the lower lobes. In addition to the above lobes, in the right lung, the accessory lobe is present, being formed by the first branch of the ventral bronchiole system. The right pulmonary artery runs across the ventral side of the right upper lobe bronchiole, and then across the dorsal side of the right middle lobe bronchiole. Thereafter, it runs between the dorsal bronchiole and lateral bronchiole systems along the dorso-lateral side of the right bronchus. During its course, the right pulmonary artery gives off the arterial branches which run along each bronchiole. These branches run mainly along the dorsal or lateral side of the bronchioles. In the left lung, the pulmonary artery and its branches run the same course as in the right lung. The pulmonary veins run mainly the ventral or medial side of the bronchioles, and between the bronchioles.  相似文献

The thyrotropin receptor is proposed to contain both a glycoprotein and a ganglioside component. Monoclonal antibodies have been developed against soluble thyroid TSH receptor preparations and using Graves' lymphocytes. These show that initial recognition of thyrotropin requires the glycoprotein component, but that monoclonal antibodies to this component block thyrotropin function (blocking antibodies) rather than mimic thyrotropin. Monoclonal antibodies which stimulate thyroid activity in cultured cell systems (cAMP increase) or mouse bioassays, all interact with gangliosides. Using monoclonal antibodies to the glycoprotein component of the thyrotropin receptor, we show that two protein bands, molecular weights 18,000-23,000 and 50,000-55,000, are precipitated from detergent-solubilized preparations. Using a crosslinking procedure with 125I-labeled thyrotropin, we show that thyrotropin binding is related to the disappearance of the 18,000-23,000 molecular weight band on sodium dodecylsulfate gels and the appearance of a 30,000-33,000 molecular weight thyrotropin-membrane component complex. Higher molecular weight thyrotropin-membrane complexes of 75,000-80,000 and 250,000 are visualized when binding studies are performed at pH 7.4 in physiologic medium; larger amounts of the 30,000-33,000 complex are evident at pH 6.0 in a low salt medium. It is thus proposed that the glycoprotein component of the thyrotropin receptor is composed of two subunits with apparent molecular weights of 18,000-23,000 and 50,000-55,000; that the 18,000-23,000 subunit interacts with thyrotropin; and that different receptor subunits can exist depending on in vitro binding conditions. Using monoclonal-stimulating antibodies or natural autoimmune IgG preparations from patients' sera, we show that stimulating antibodies exhibit species-specific binding to human thyroid ganglioside preparations. Individual components or determinants of the thyrotropin receptor structure with specific autoimmune immunoglobulins.  相似文献
