Termitaria snyderi Thaxter is found in and around Gainesville, Florida, infecting the subterranean termites Reticulitermes virginicus (Banks) and R. flavipes (Kollar). The fungus forms sporodochia-like structures on the exoskeleton of the termites. These structures have a subhymenium of tightly held phialides. The phialides cut off phialoconidia apically in basipetal succession into the collarettes at conidiogenous loci. The basal layer of the thallus has certain thick-walled cells that send haustoria into the integument of the host termite. Termitaria appears to be closely related to another cuticle-infecting parasite of termites, Mattirolella Colla. A new species of the latter, M. crustosa, is described here. The relationships of the two genera are discussed and a new order of Deuteromycetes, Termitariales is proposed for them. 相似文献

本文对山茶属(Camellia L.)18个组27个代表种的花粉进行了光学显微镜、扫描电镜和大部分进行了透射电镜的观察,并对花粉大小、形状、外壁纹饰和超微结构等作了综合的比较。结果表明,其形状和大小差异不很明显。花粉壁的层次、厚度和不同层次的比例,如复盖层与柱状层以及外壁外层与外壁内层的比例等也没有显著的差异。但花粉壁的纹饰特征在扫描电镜下显示出较大的差异,具有较重要的分类学价值。根据其纹饰特征,可以把山茶属花粉大致区分为六个类型:皱疣状纹饰;粗瘤状纹饰;颗粒状至皱-颗粒状纹饰;穴-网状纹饰;皱沟状纹饰及皱波-念珠状纹饰。孢粉学上区分的类型不完全与各个学者从植物形态上划分的组相一致。其中管蕊茶 Camellia lanceolata的纹饰非常特殊(粗瘤状),其外壁表面很象牛心果(Annona reticulata)的外形特征,为其重新分类提供孢粉学依据。 相似文献

Live and prepared cells of the marine pennate diatom Navicula complanatoides Hust. were examined with light and electron microscopy. It has narrowly lanceolate valves (26–55 μm long, 4–5 μm wide) and girdles 10–24 μm in depth. Striae are parallel at the center of the valve (24–28 in 10 μm), becoming slightly convergent toward the apices. Electron microscopy revealed that the external valve surface presents a longitudinally ribbed appearance (20–28 parallel ribs at its maximum width), whereas internally, rectangular areolae are occluded by ricae. The raphe slit lies in a narrow axial area, and one side of the raphe sternum is deeper and folds over the other, obscuring the internal opening. Internally, the central virga on one side of the raphe and two virgae on the other are somewhat broader. A conspicuous pore (stigma) is present between the two broadened virgae. The girdle consists of valvocopulae, copulae, and pleurae. There are 16–20 bands per cingulum. The valvocopulae and copulae are hollow tube-like structures, with inner and outer portions contrsting in morphology. They decrease in diameter in an abvalvar direction. There are four pleurae. These are flat bands which facilitate overlap of the epicingulum and hypocingulum. Fundamental features of the valve and girdle reveal the distinctness of this species within Navicula. The areolae, external longitudinal ribs, and raphe structure suggest affinities with Pleurosigma, Gyrosigma, and Haslea. It is hypothesized that they share a derived state which indicates a recent common ancestor for these taxa. N. complanatoides and related species of the Naviculae microstigmatacae are distinctive enough to merit their own genus within the Naviculaceae. 相似文献

EXTERNAL SPORE MORPHOLOGY AND TAXONOMIC AFFINITIES OF PHYLLOGLOSSUM DRUMMONDII KUNZE (LYCOPODIACEAE)
The external spore morphology of Phylloglossum drummondii was studied with the scanning electron microscope and shown to share a number of features with spores in the subgenus Urostachys in Lycopodium. Within Urostachys the affinities of P. drummondii were less evident: the foramino-fossulate distal face, pyramidal proximal surface, and subcircular outline of its spores are similar to spores in the section Phlegmaria while the weakly foveolate proximal surface and raised laesurae are characteristic of spores in the section Selago. 相似文献

The vegetative organization and reproductive development of Gracilariopsis lemaneiformis (Bory) Dawson, Acleto et Foldvik [including Gracilaria sjoestedtii Kylin] were investigated. Our observations on spermatangial development and post-fertilization features establish that Gracilariopsis Dawson is distinct at the generic level from Gracilaria Greville, and ice propose the resurrection of Gracilariopsis Dawson as a result. Spermatangial parent cells of Gracilariopsis are superficial, initiated in pairs or groups of three by concavo-convex longitudinal and transverse divisions. Each spermatangial parent cell cuts off a single, colorless spermatangium distally by a transverse division. The female reproductive apparatus consists of a supporting cell that bears a two-celled carpogonial branch flanked by two sterile branches, as in Gracilaria. Likewise, up to six sterile cells fuse with the carpogonium after fertilization to produce a primary fusion cell that generates the gonimoblasts; however, a secondary fusion cell is absent. Inner gonimoblast cells unite with cytologically modified cells of the inner pericarp by means of secondary pit-connections. Tubular nutritive cells are absent. The gonimoblast consists of a central sterile tissue interconnected throughout by secondary pit-connections surmounted by a fertile layer composed of carposporangia aligned in straight chains. 十年前在云南省早泥盆世的地层中发现了轮生钩藻(Uncataella verticillata),限于当时的材料,其分类位置未定。本研究所用材料采自它的模式标本产地,化石植物保存良好,首次发现了着生在植物体上的雌性生殖器官——藏卵器。根据藏卵器和植物体其它部分显示的形态特征,本文修订了它的原始描述并对其系统位置进行了探讨,认为轮生钩藻是一种原始的轮藻植物,很可能属于直立轮藻目直立轮藻科中的一个成员。 相似文献

The genus Cordyhmthus has considerable diversity in its inflorescences while the other genera of tribe Rhinantheae (Scrophulariaceae) uniformly have racemes or spikes. Four distinct inflorescence types are recognized and their homologies and evolutionary history are postulated. Thus it is suggested that the basic florescence type, the elongated spike (Type I), has undergone evolutionary reduction to a few-flowered spike and ultimately to a single-flowered florescence (Type II). Further evolution involving processes of compaction and clustering of the single-flowered florescences has resulted in glomerulate clusters (Type III) and spiciform clusters (Type IV). Knowledge of inflorescence homologies and distribution of the four inflorescence types in the genus has been of considerable aid in formulating a new infrageneric classification. Using evidence primarily from inflorescence, floral, and seed morphology, as well as from geographical distribution and ecology, a classification is proposed establishing three subgenera, namely subg. Dicranostegia, subg. Hemistegia, and subg. Cordylanthus, the last with three sections, sect. Cordylanthus, sect. Anisocheila, and sect. Ramosi. 相似文献

A study of seed coat sculpturing in Cordylanthus (Scrophulariaceae—Rhinantheae) using the scanning electron microscope (SEM) shows that seed surface patterns are characteristic and constant for a given species or a group of species. Seeds of 23 species were examined and classified into four types (irregularly crested, deeply reticulate, shallowly reticulate, and irregularly striate) based on differences in the reticulated seed coat. Anatomical studies of sections with the light microscope show that the reticular patterns result from enlargement of the epidermal cells of the integument, followed by formation of characteristic wall patterns through lignification. Seed characters furnish useful data for formulating the taxonomy of Cordylanthus both on the sectional and subsectional level and for the delimitation of certain species. Seed coat morphology offers evidence for including the genus Dicranostegia in Cordylanthus and for maintaining C. hispidus and C. palmatus as separate species. The distinctness of two seed coat types within section Cordylanthus suggests two major phylogenetic lines within this section. 相似文献

Electron microscopic observations on the euspermatozoa (fertilizingsperm) and paraspermatozoa (infertile sperm) of Serpulorbissp. and Dendropoma sp. suggest that the family Vennetidae (sensustricto) is not closely allied to any true cerithioidean family.Vermetid euspermatozoa strongly resemble those of a number ofother mesogastropod superfamilies including the Stromboidea,Epitonioidea, Naticoidea, Calyptraeoidea, Cypraeoidea, somerissooideans and littorinoideans, and even some neogastropodtaxa. Vermetid paraspermatozoa are anudeate, with one or moretails extending from both ends of a central body region. Incontrast, paraspermatozoa of true cerithioideans: (1) have tailsextending from only the posterior region of the head(2) usually retain a condensed nuclear remnant and (3) sometimespossess an acrosome-like structure at the head apex. These results,in conjunction with anatomical work by Morton, suggest thatthe Vennetidae should be removed from the Cerithioidea and placedprobably in its own superfamily (Vermetoidea Raphinesque, 1815)as practised by some recent workers. Scanning and transmission electron microscopy of pollen grains of 29 species, representing the ten extant genera of Cycadales, has provided valuable insight into their relationships. Pollen grains of these taxa are boat-shaped, monosulcate, and bilaterally symmetrical. They range from narrowly to widely elliptical or subcircular when viewed distally, and have an exine surface of psilate, foveolate, or fossulate. Pollen wall ultrastructure of Cycadales is typically tectate with alveolate∗∗∗spongy exine. The nexine is laminated in all genera. Nexine 1 (footlayer) is present in most species as a thin and often discontinuous layer. There is consistent variation in thickness of the sporoderm layers among the genera but relative uniformity within them. Pollen characteristics are well correlated with macro- and micromorphological features, chromosome numbers, geographical distribution, and postulated pollination mode. A close affinity between Encephalartos, Lepidozamia, and Macrozamia is recognized. Pollen characteristics of the genus Bowenia show some similarity with those of the latter group. Except for two species of Macrozamia which are narrowly elliptic, all of the genera have widely elliptic pollen and share a psilate exine surface and the thinnest sexine with nearly identical arrangement of alveoli. Pollen grains of the species in the genus Dioon exhibit a unique morphology but are more similar to Stangeria than they are to those of taxa in Zamiaceae. The circular outline of the grains and the foveolate exine surface are characters shared by these two genera, but several morphological features distinguish Dioon from Stangeria. Ceratozamia and Zamia share a widely elliptic shape, foveolate exine surface and nearly identical sexine, as well as morphological features and chromosome numbers. They differ from Microcycas in sexine thickness, gross morphology and chromosome numbers. The pollen grains of Cycas circinalis and C. revoluta differ in size and structure of the sexine from all other genera and from each other, substantiating their distinct subgeneric delimitations. 相似文献
