The research investigated the autogenic training (AT) immediate effects, analysing the emotional reactions of patients during their learning of the AT standard exercises. An improvement has been observed in all the conditions even before the beginning of the course, thus demonstrating the presence of the drug-doctor-phenomenon; the control subjects, entered in a waiting list, showed no further improvement at this phase of the study.  相似文献

The anerobic threshold (AT) has been defined in 37 healthy young subjects and adults after single and repeated exercises close to the threshold one as regards the intensity. Single exercise lasted 1.5--2 h, whereas repeated ones 7 days to 5 months. The AT has been found to drop significantly at single exercises and to increase at systematic exercises lasting 30 days and more.  相似文献

Concurrent training is a strategy employed in both general fitness and sports conditioning. The purpose of this study was to compare the responses of VO2 in different combinations of strength exercise with aerobic interval exercise. Eight men (23.6 ± 4.2 years, 178 ± 6.3 cm, 77 ± 7.9 kg, 7.67 ± 1.95% body fat) completed 3 combinations of strength training (ST) and aerobic training (AT) in a randomized order with a 7-day recovery period: AT before ST exercises, AT between 2 blocks of ST exercises, and AT after ST exercises. The ST comprised 4 exercises performed in 3 sets of 10 reps and 2 exercises, abdominal crunch and lumbar extension, performed in 3 sets of 30 and 20 reps, respectively. The AT consisted of a 20-minute interval cycling. There were no significant differences in the values of absolute or relative VO2, in the heart rate (HR) and in the respiratory exchange ratio (RER) when the 3 sessions (during + postexercise measurements) were compared (values are mean ± SD). Analyzing only ST in each session, differences were detected in the RER values (F = 4.714; p < 0.05; η2 = 0.308) between AT before ST and AT in the middle of ST (1.01 ± 0.97 vs. 1.11 ± 0.07, respectively). In all sequences, there was a significant increase (p < 0.05) in the values of relative and absolute VO2 and HR, and a significant decrease in RER values (p < 0.05) from the first to the second part of the ST session. The values of absolute or relative VO2, HR, and RER did not vary significantly among the 3 sessions as compared with the AT after ST. These data support the hypothesis that ST and AT, when performed in sequence in the same session, do not seem to affect the overall oxygen consumption during the exercise session. Therefore, training sessions may incorporate both modalities without apparent impact on aerobic exercise.  相似文献

Medical students are a population at risk for the development of stress-related risk states (e.g. burnout) and manifest mental disorders (e.g. depression). Still the learning of coping mechanisms against stress is not an integral part of the medical curriculum. In a pilot study we developed an elective course for learning relaxation techniques (Relacs) which was geared to the clinical practice of autogenic training (AT) with psychiatric patients. The course focussed on an innovative and mostly communicative transfer of knowledge about AT, progressive muscle relaxation and medical hypnosis and stressed the principle of repeated and supervised exercises in small student groups alongside self-administered exercise. 42 students took part in this course and showed a very high acceptance for the topic and positive evaluation. Moreover, we found a distinct improvement of the participants’ mental parameters (burnout, anxiety) and a good knowledge about the course’s contents within the final exams at the end of the semester. The structure and realisation of the course is easily adaptable and very effective regarding the improvement of the students’ mental health. Due to our results and the commonly known prevalence of stress-related disorders in medical students we postulate the integration of courses on relaxation strategies in the medical curriculum.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to compare 2 different training modes in improving shoulder cuff muscular performance. Thirty-nine participants were randomly assigned into 3 groups: the isolated group exercised using 2-kg dumbbells; the complex group used a protocol with complex exercises; and the control group had no training. All participants trained for 6 weeks (3 times per week) and were evaluated isokinetically before (pretest) and after the training period (posttest). Results showed that the complex group significantly improved their muscular performance, but the isolated group did not, indicating that isolated exercises are only effective when the training goal is to strengthen the weaker muscle group, but they must be replaced by more complex and closed-kinetic exercises in order to obtain considerable improvement of the rotator cuff strength. The authors propose that a strengthening program should start with isolated movements for better stimulation of the weaker muscles and continue with complex exercise for more impressive strengthening.  相似文献

Fifty three patients with asthma underwent training for two weeks in an integrated set of yoga exercises, including breathing exercises, suryanamaskar, yogasana (physical postures), pranayama (breath slowing techniques), dhyana (meditation), and a devotional session, and were told to practise these exercises for 65 minutes daily. They were then compared with a control group of 53 patients with asthma matched for age, sex, and type and severity of asthma, who continued to take their usual drugs. There was a significantly greater improvement in the group who practised yoga in the weekly number of attacks of asthma, scores for drug treatment, and peak flow rate. This study shows the efficacy of yoga in the long term management of bronchial asthma, but the physiological basis for this beneficial effect needs to be examined in more detail.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to demonstrate the short-term effects of different stretching exercises during the warm-up period on the lower limbs. A controlled, crossover clinical study involving 49 volunteers (14 women and 35 men; mean age: 20.4 years) enrolled in a "physical and sporting activities monitor" program. The explosive force was assessed using the Bosco test. The protocol was as follows: The test involved a (pre) jump test, general warm-up, intervention and (post) jump test. Each volunteer was subjected to each of the 5 interventions (no stretching [NS] and stretching: static passive stretching [P]; proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation [PNF] techniques; static active stretching in passive tension [PT]; static active stretching in active tension [AT]) in a random order. The jump test was used to assess the squat jump, countermovement jump (CMJ), elasticity index (EI), and drop jump. An intragroup statistical analysis was performed before and after each intervention to compare the differences between the different stretching exercises. An intergroup analysis was also performed. Significant differences (p < 0.05) were found between all variables for the interventions "P," "PNF," and "TA" in the intragroup analysis, with each value being higher in the postjump test. Only the "P" intervention showed a significant difference (p = 0.046) for "EI," with the postvalue being lower. Likewise, significant differences (p < 0.05) were observed for the "CMJ" measurements during the intergroup analysis, especially between "NS" and the interventions "P," "PNF," "AT," and "PT," with each value, particularly that for "AT," being higher after stretching. The results of this study suggest that static active stretching in AT can be recommended during the warm-up for explosive force disciplines.  相似文献

A correct seat and position are the basis for a good performance in horseback riding. This study aimed to measure deviations from the correct seat, test a seat improvement program (dismounted exercises), and investigate whether horse behavior was affected by the rider's seat. Five experienced trainers defined 16 seat deviations and scored the occurrence in 20 riders in a dressage test. Half the riders then carried out an individual training program; after 9 weeks, riders were again scored. The study took no video or heart-rate recordings of horses and riders. Panel members did not agree on the deviations in the rider's seat; the study detected no differences-with the exception of improvement of backward-tilted pelvis-between the groups. Horse behavior, classified as "evasive," increased; horse heart rate decreased in the experimental group. Heart rates of riders in both groups decreased. Seven of 9 riders in the experimental group had the impression that the exercises improved their riding performance. There is a clear need to develop a robust system that allows trainers to objectively evaluate the rider's seat.  相似文献

The effect of acute hypoxia on blood concentration of ammonia ([NH3]b) and lactate (la-]b) was studied during incremental exercise(IE), and two-step constant workload exercises (CE). Fourteen endurance-trained subjects performed incremental exercise on a cycle ergometer under normoxic (21% O2) and hypoxic (10.4% O2) conditions. Eight endurance-trained subjects performed two-step constant workload exercise at sea level and at a simulated altitude of 5000 m (hypobaric chamber, P(B)=405 Torr; P(O2)=85 Torr) in random order. In normoxia, the first step lasted 25 minutes at an intensity of 85 % of the individual ventilatory anaerobic threshold (AT(vent), ind) at sea level. This reduced workload was followed by a second step of 5 minutes at 115% of their AT(vent), ind. This test was repeated into a hypobaric chamber, at a simulated altitude of 5,000 m. The first step in hypoxia was at an intensity of 65 % of AT(vent), ind., whereas workload for the second step at simulated altitude was the same as that of the first workload in normoxia (85 % of AT(vent), ind). During IE, [NH3]b and [la-]b were significantly higher in hypoxia than in normoxia. Increases in these metabolites were highly correlated in each condition. The onset of [NH3]b and [la-]b accumulation occurred at different exercise intensity in normoxia (181W for lactate and 222W for ammonia) and hypoxia (100W for lactate and 140W for ammonia). In both conditions, during CE, [NH3]b showed a significant increase during each of the two steps, whereas [la-]b increased to a steady-state in the initial step, followed by a sharp increase above 4 mM x L(-1) during the second. Although exercise intensity was much lower in hypoxia than in normoxia, [NH3]b was always higher at simulated altitude. Thus, for the same workload, [NH3]b in hypoxia was significantly higher (p<0.05) than in normoxia. Our data suggest that there is a close relationship between [NH3]b and [la-]b in normoxia and hypoxia during graded intensity exercises. The accumulation of ammonia in blood is independent of that of lactate during constant intense exercise. Hypoxia increases the concentration of ammonia in blood during exercise.  相似文献

Cerebrovascular disease studies have shown similarity between humans and spontaneously hypertensive rats stroke-prone rats in the development of spontaneous stroke and transitory ischemic attacks (TIA). In addition, nitric oxide (NO) suppression by L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME) can precipitate several vascular diseases including TIA and strokes. On the other hand, alpha-tocopherol (AT) has been associated with beneficial effects on vascular disorders. Four groups were tested to evaluate AT effects on NO inhibition: AT, control (C), AT + L-NAME, and L-NAME. During 4 weeks, all groups had their physiologic parameters evaluated and were submitted to neurological tests. After the sacrifice of the animals, total L-lactate dehydrogenase, fibrinogen levels, and platelet counts were measured. Our results demonstrated improvement in memory function and sensory-motor function of the rats treated with AT. The AT treatment also demonstrated a significant difference on the injury identifier, fibrinogen levels, and platelet count between the treated groups and the L-NAME group. In conclusion, AT reversed damaging L-NAME neurological effects and could be considered as a possible protective agent in neurological diseases.  相似文献

All-hazards exercises bring together emergency response partners at the local, regional, state, and federal levels for the primary purposes of testing response plans, defining roles and responsibilities, assessing capabilities, and making necessary improvements prior to an actual incident. To better understand the benefits and challenges of conducting regional (ie, multicounty) exercises, a study was carried out by the North Carolina Preparedness and Emergency Response Research Center at the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health. This article describes 5 all-hazards regional exercises conducted by Public Health Regional Surveillance Teams (PHRSTs) in North Carolina in 2009 and highlights 4 unique benefits that resulted from the exercises beyond meeting explicit objectives to test plans and identify areas for improvement: (1) building relationships among response partners, (2) promoting public health assets, (3) testing multiple communications systems, and (4) training exercise evaluators. Challenges of planning and conducting regional exercises also are addressed, followed by recommendations for maximizing the effectiveness of regional public health exercises.  相似文献

In a controlled trial of exercise retraining in patients with severe chronic bronchitis, 33 subjects were followed for a mean period of 10.3 months. The exercise programme was supervised once a week, and daily training comprised a 12-minute walk and simple stair climbing exercises. The subjects in the exercise group showed a highly significant improvement in their walking distance, attaining a maximum increase of 24% after eight to 12 months. There was also considerable subjective improvement. The control group did not improve. No significant changes in cardiorespiratory function or muscle strength were seen. Simple exercise rehabilitation is of benefit to patients with disabling obstructive lung disease.  相似文献

To determine the effect of the duration of incremental exercise on the point at which arterial blood lactate concentration (HLa) increases above the resting value (anaerobic threshold: AT) and on the point at which HLa reaches a constant value of 4 mM (onset of blood lactate accumulation: OBLA), eight male students performed two different kinds of incremental exercise. A comparison of arterial HLa and venous HLa was made under both conditions of incremental exercise. The incremental bicycle exercise tests consisted of 25 W increase every minute (1-min test) and every 4 min (4-min test). At maximal exercise, there were no significant differences in either gas exchange parameters or HLa values for the two kinds of incremental exercise. However, the peak workloads attained during the two exercises were significantly different (P less than 0.01). At OBLA and AT, there were no significant differences in gas exchange parameters during the 1-min and 4-min tests except for the workload (at OBLA P less than 0.01; at AT P less than 0.05). When venous blood HLa was used instead of arterial HLa for a 4-min test, AT was not significantly different from that obtained by arterial HLa, but OBLA was significantly different from that obtained by arterial HLa (P less than 0.05). On the other hand, for the 1-min test, venous HLa values yielded significantly higher AT and OBLA compared with those obtained using arterial HLa (P less than 0.01). Using radioactive iodine, the effect of 1 month's yogic exercises has been investigated on the thyroid function of subjects resident at sea level (SL) specially after their exposure to high altitude (HA). The results have been compared with a group of SL subjects who underwent physical training (PT) exercises for the same duration. Ten healthy male volunteers in the age range of 20–30 years were used as test subjects in this study with each serving as his own control. The subjects were randomly divided into two groups of 5 each. One group practised hatha yogic exercises, while the other group performed the regular PT exercises. The thyroidal accumulation and release of radioactive iodine have been measured in each of the subjects of both groups before and after 1 month of their respective exercises at SL. One month of yogic exercises at SL has been observed to cause a significant reduction in the trans-thy-roidal availability of radioiodine. The thyroid radioactivity in this group of subjects was always below normal levels with the exception of two peaks of radioactive iodine uptake, when the levels of radioactivity in the thyroid were similar to the control values of pre-yogic exercises. The release of radiolabel at 24–48 h was significantly increased after yogic exercises. In contrast, the subjects performing PT exercises for the same duration at SL showed significant thyroid uptake of radioactive iodine at 24 h. Subsequently their131I uptake continued to rise slowly until 72 h without any demonstrable thyroidal release of radiolabel. This indicated that increased thyroid activity was induced by conventional PT exercise. Exposure of SL residents to HA irrespective of their exercise regime altered the thyroidal handling of radioiodine. Thyroidal concentrations of freshly administered radioiodine at early and late sampling intervals were very high in both of the groups, especially the yogics, after their return to SL from HA. Following a six-week program of training in a series of exercises, a significant number of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary emphysema showed decided improvement in functional activity. Exercises are commonly recommended for chronic neck pain, but evidence-based guidelines do not explain what types of exercise. The aim of this randomized study was to evaluate the rate of change in neck strength following high- and low-intensity neck muscle training and their effects on pain and disability. One hundred eighty women with chronic neck pain were randomized into a high-intensity strength training group (STG), local muscle endurance training group (ETG), or control group (CG). The neck training consisted of isometric exercises in the STG and dynamic exercises in the ETG. Both groups performed dynamic exercises for the upper extremities. Strength tests, neck pain, and disability indices were evaluated at the baseline, at the follow-ups after 2 and 6 months in the training groups, and after 12 months in all groups. In both groups the greatest gains in neck strength, as well as decrease in neck pain and disability, were achieved during the first 2 months. However, the improvements continued up to 12 months. The STG achieved the greatest strength gains at all follow-ups. The CG showed only minor changes, and significant differences were found in favor of the training groups in all measures. The change in neck pain and disability indices correlated with the isometric neck strength (r = -0.22 [-0.36 to - 0.08] to -0.36 [-0.49 to -0.23]). Neck and shoulder muscle training was shown to be an effective therapy for chronic neck pain, resulting in early improvement in both the strength tests and subjective measures. The results can be maintained and even improved with long-term training.  相似文献

The surface electromyogram (EMG) from active muscle and oxygen uptake (VO2) were studied simultaneously to examine changes of motor unit (MU) activity during exercise tests with different ramp increments. Six male subjects performed four exhausting cycle exercises with different ramp slopes of 10, 20, 30 and 40 W.min-1 on different days. The EMG signals taken from the vastus lateralis muscle were stored on a digital data recorder and converted to obtain the integrated EMG (iEMG). The VO2 was measured, with 20-s intervals, by the mixing chamber method. A non-linear increase in iEMG against work load was observed for each exercise in all subjects. The break point of the linear relationship of iEMG was determined by the crossing point of the two regression lines (iEMGbp). Significant differences were obtained in the exercise intensities corresponding to maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) and the iEMGbp between 10 and 30, and 10 and 40 W.min-1 ramp exercises (P < 0.05). However, no significant differences were obtained in VO2max and VO2 corresponding to the iEMGbp during the four ramp exercises. With respect to the relationship between VO2 and exercise intensity during the ramp increments, the VO2-exercise intensity slope showed significant differences only for the upper half (i.e. above iEMGbp). These results demonstrated that the VO2max and VO2 at which a nonlinear increase in iEMG was observed were not varied by the change of ramp slopes but by the exercise intensity corresponding to VO2max and the iEMGbp was varied by the change of ramp slopes.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

Hyperactive children (N = 15) and nonhyperactive children (N = 15) were compared. Hyperactive children were found to possess significantly higher (p less than .002) muscular tension levels and, in addition, presented more behavioral problems and had lower test scores. Both electromyographic (EMG) biofeedback and progressive relaxation exercises were successful in the significant reduction of muscular tension, hyperactivity, distractability, irritability, impulsivity, explosiveness, aggressivity, and emotionality in hyperactive children. The greatest improvement was seen in the area of "emotionality-aggression" (irritability, explosiveness, impulsivity, low frustration tolerance, aggresion). No differences were seen in the EMG improvement of drug and nondrug hyperactive children; both made progress under these self-control techniques. However, nondrug children made greater improvements in the behavioral area. Both EMG biofeedback and progressive relaxation resulted in improvements on the test scores of hyperactive subjects (Bender-Gestalt, Visual Sequential Memory, Digit Span, Coding). The therapy would appear to be improved by the inclusion of mental relaxation, concentration, meditation, and mind-blanking exercises for mental control.  相似文献

The purpose of the present study was to determine whether knee extension strength gain in middle-aged and elderly persons is associated with improvement in the limits of stability when leaning his/her body in various directions. The resistance training group (EXT; 4 males, 17 females) completed two bilateral knee extension training sessions, consisting of one set of exercises, per week for 10 weeks. The non-training control group (CONT; 4 males, 3 females) were instructed not to train their legs during the 10-week control period. One set of exercises consisted of 8-12 repetitions of a dynamic resistance exercise until volitional fatigue for knee extension. The initial load for training was set at 70% of the one-repetition maximum (1-RM). The thickness of the rectus femoris (RF) and vastus lateralis (VL) muscles were measured using a B-mode ultrasound apparatus. The postural control measures, obtained using the Balance Master system, included the percentage limits-of-stability (%LOS) and path length (%Path). The 1-RM in EXT was increased significantly by resistance training (p < 0.001). In addition, significant differences were observed between the percentage increase of 1-RM in EXT and those in CONT at wk 5 and at wk 10 of resistance training (p < 0.001). However, no significant increase in muscle thickness of RF or VL was found in EXT. The %LOS to the rear target in EXT was increased significantly by resistance training (p < 0.05-0.01). In addition, the percentage change in %Path was decreased significantly by resistance training (p < 0.001). Therefore, strength gain in quadriceps femoris appears to be associated with improvement in the %LOS and %Path for the rear. In conclusion, strength gain in quadriceps femoris is thought to possibly enable accurate movement of the COG farther from the center target towards the rear, suggesting that strength gain has a positive influence on a person's perception of their ability to avoid falls.  相似文献
