Twenty-five satisfactory and 25 unsatisfactory potential breeder bulls were examined with a modified Shulman spermagglutination test for the presence of spermagglutinating antibodies in their serum and seminal fluid. This was done to determine whether antibodies to spermatozoa were a contributing factor to classification of the bull as an unsatisfactory potential breeder. No correlation was found between classification as an unsatisfactory potential breeder and the presence of spermagglutinating antibodies. In addition, indirect fluorescent antibody tests were performed to detect antisperm antibodies in the serum and seminal fluid of the bulls. Again, no correlation was found between antisperm antibodies and breeding soundness classification. Finally, there was no correlation between the age of the bulls and occurrences of spermagglutination antibodies in serum or seminal fluid.  相似文献

Forty Santa Gertrudis bulls were used to examine relationships among scrotal circumference, seminal quality, libido, and fertility [assessed as the percent pregnant of estrous females (PE rate) and the percent pregnant of females mated (PM rate)]. These bulls were selected from 220 two year old bulls to represent variations in scrotal circumference and seminal quality. Each of the 40 bulls were exposed to 100 cyclic Santa Gertrudis heifers for a 4-day (96 hr) breeding period. The number of estrous females available to each bull varied from 12 to 27. A breeding soundness examination (BSE) was conducted on each bull approximately 45 days prior to the 4-day breeding period and immediately after the 4-day breeding period. The three components of the BSE scroe (scrotal circumference, spermatozoal abnormalities and spermatozoal motility) were not significantly correlated with PE rate or PM rate at either evaluation. There was no significant correlation between PM rate and scrotal circumference; however, each of the 4 bulls having a scrotal circumference less than 30 cm had a PM rate below 31%. Relationships between seminal quality and PM rate were unclear and differed between the two evaluations. There was a trend for bulls having poor seminal quality at the first evaluation to improve by the second evaluation. Consequently, fluctuations in seminal quality between evaluations is one possible explanation for low correlations between seminal parameters and PM rate. Libido (number mated/number in estrus x 100) was positively correlated (r = 0.44) with PE rate. Using a stepwise regression procedure, the independent variables accounting for the most variation in PE rate (dependent variable) included libido, secondary spermatozoal abnormalities, and BSE score (r(2) = 0.44). Results of this study indicate that current methods of fertility evaluation did not accurately predict the fertility of individual Santa Gertrudis bulls as measured by PE rate and PM rate during a 4 day breeding period.  相似文献

A total of 1127 breeding soundness examinations was conducted on 1005 bulls utilizing the method of examination and criteria for classifying bulls of the Society for Theriogenology. Classification of bulls according to breeding soundness potentials was as follows: 83.5% of the bulls were satisfactory, 9.0% of the bulls were questionable, 6.9% of the bulls were unsatisfactory and .6% of the bulls could not be classified. There were no breed differences in classifications. After 60 months of age there was a greater incidence of unsatisfactory potential breeders. Of the 178 questionable and unsatisfactory bulls, 54 were re-evaluated after a rest period of approximately 72 days. Questionable and unsatisfactory bulls less than two years of age improved to satisfactory status on subsequent examinations more often than bulls greater than 2 years of age (P<.05). Questionable or unsatisfactory potential breeders with clinical abnormalities did not attain satisfactory status on subsequent examinations as often as questionable or unsatisfactory bulls without clinical abnormalities (P<.05). Of 942 satisfactory potential breeders, 120 bulls did not give a satisfactory semen sample on the first collection attempt, but did respond with satisfactory semen on subsequent attempts during the same examination period. In 1127 examinations, 7 bulls (.6%) did not respond to the electroejaculator.Breeding stock has for years been selected on the basis of conformation, carcass quality, rate of gain, feed conversion, mothering ability, and color markings. Many producers are now including breeding soundness examinations as a basis for selecting breeding animals. Although there have been many papers published describing various methods of clinically determining breeding potential in bulls, there are only a few reports summarizing the results when any of the described methods have been applied to large numbers of bulls. The University of Missouri Veterinary Clinic has been one of the major collection centers in the State of Missouri for conducting breeding soundness examinations for a number of years due to its central location and close proximity to many of the state-tested bull sales. A summary of 1127 breeding soundness examinations is being reported.  相似文献

Bull breeding soundness parameters, semen characteristics and sexual behavior were evaluated for effects on reproductive performance in single-sire beef herds. A total of 155 cow herds (Angus, 50 herds; Hereford, 40 herds; Brahman, 46 herds; and Senepol, 19 herds) bred to bulls of the same breed were observed for 8 yr. All bulls produced adequate quality semen and had scrotal circumference (SC) >/= 30 cm. Reproductive performance was evaluated by the conception rate (CON), conception rate during the first 21 d of the breeding season (21dCON), mean calving date (MCD), and mean calving date of the first half of the herd to calve (HHCD). Correlations were determined between breeding soundness parameters and reproductive performance for all bulls combined, by breed, and by age. The Cp statistic was used to select models for the effects of parameters on CON, 21dCON, MCD and HHCD. Breeding season length and breed had significant effects. The percentages of normal cells, proximal droplets, detached heads and the semen score (motility plus percentage of normal cells) had a significant effect on CON when all bulls were considered. After the effect of season was deleted, the most significant parameter affecting CON in the Brahman was the percentage of detached sperm heads. In the Angus, motility was significantly correlated with all reproductive performance indices. In the Hereford, breeding soundness examination score (BSE) was positively correlated with 21dCON.  相似文献

Ultrasonography of the testes was done in bulls at three locations in western Canada (n = 325) and one in Argentina (n = 387) to determine the prevalence of fibrotic lesions and to examine the relationship between fibrotic lesions and location, age, breed, right compared with left testes, testis size and semen quality. Fibrotic lesions were common in the testes of bulls raised under intensive rearing conditions in western Canada as well as in the more extensive rearing conditions of Argentina. Fibrotic lesions appeared as early as 5–6 months of age and the number of cases continued to increase until at least 12–14 months of age. The severity of lesions increased in some cases during this period; however, it appears that the development of lesions occurred during a finite period of pubertal development. It is unlikely that the prevalence of lesions is influenced by breed, right compared with left testes or testis size. The cause of the lesions is unknown, but there was an association between the development of fibrotic lesions and an outbreak of BRSV disease in Argentina in one group of bulls. There was some indication that during the active process that leads to fibrosis spermatogenesis is adversely affected; however, the presence of a large number of fibrotic lesions that may occupy as much as 50% of the testis parenchyma did not preclude the production of a greater percentage of sperm with normal morphology.  相似文献

The primary objectives were to describe beef bulls considered for use and those reported as used in 205 beef herds in western Canada, and to determine whether factors typically assessed during breeding soundness evaluations were associated with reproductive success. More than 100 veterinary clinics reported 2990 breeding soundness evaluations for bulls considered for natural service in client's herds. Differences among clinics explained 5.2% of the variation in scrotal circumference (SC) and 6.9% of the variation in percentage of morphologically normal sperm of all bulls considered for use (after accounting for age, breed, body condition, significant physical abnormalities, month, and year). The percentage of morphologically normal sperm was lower in bulls with an SC ≤34 versus >34 cm (P < 0.006). This study included data from 1384 and 1370 bulls used for breeding in 2001 and 2002, respectively. Most (80%) of the bulls used were Simmental, Black Angus, Charolais, Red Angus, or Hereford, and 80% were ≤4 y of age. Before the breeding season, a veterinarian evaluated 89.5% of all bulls used in these herds. Of the bulls subjected to a breeding soundness evaluation and subsequently used, 93.1% were satisfactory. In 2001 and 2002, injuries were reported in 2.5 and 2.1% of bulls and in 16.6 and 11.4% of herds, and necrobacillosis of the foot was reported in 2.5 and 1.2% of bulls and 11.2 and 6.5% of the herds. The average number of cows exposed to each bull was 26 (both years). Cows exposed to bulls with a smaller SC were less likely to be diagnosed pregnant (P < 0.047) and had a longer median interval from first bull exposure to calving (P < 0.016) than bulls with a larger SC. In conclusion, our findings emphasized the value of breeding soundness evaluations, including measurements of SC, in fertility management of beef cattle.  相似文献

Ninety-five yearling beef bulls were given routine Breeding Soundness Examinations, two libido tests and palpated rectally for internal genital disease and measurement of seminal vesicle size. Finger tips were premeasured, and then used as "glandometers". The bulls were examined at the end of a 140-day performance test. Sixteen lines of breeding were examined including 13 Hereford, 2 Angus and 1 Red Angus. Average age was 384 days and average weight was 961 lbs. Line and breed differences (P<.05) were observed for scrotal circumference, scrotal circumference score and second libido test. Similar differences were observed for SV length (P<.01), depth and volume both (P<.05). There were no significant correlations between seminal vesicle (SV) size and libido scores. There were, however, significant correlations between SV size and scrotal circumference (P<.05), BSE score (P<.01), body weight (P<.01), and semen morphology score (P<.05). Proximal droplets and midpiece abnormalities, respectively, were the most common spermatozoal abnormalities observed in semen from this group of bulls.  相似文献

The objectives were to determine the effects of age and genetic group on characteristics of the scrotum, testes and testicular vascular cones (TVC), and on sperm production and semen quality in 107 Bos indicus, B. taurus and cross-bred bulls at three artificial insemination (AI) centers in Brazil. In addition, predictors of sperm production and semen quality were identified. In general, scrotal circumference (SC), scrotal shape score, scrotal neck perimeter, and testicular size (length, width and volume) increased (P < 0.05) with age. Although there were no significant differences among genetic groups for SC or testicular size, B. indicus bulls had the least pendulous scrotal shape, the shortest scrotal neck length, and the greatest scrotal neck perimeter (P < 0.05). Fat covering the TVC was thinner (P < 0.05) in bulls < or = 36 months of age and in B. taurus bulls than in older bulls and B. indicus bulls, respectively. Age and genetic group did not affect testicular ultrasonic echotexture. B. indicus bulls tended (P < 0.1) to have the lowest average scrotal surface temperature (SST). In general, ejaculate volume, total number of spermatozoa and number of viable spermatozoa increased (P < 0.05) with age. However, there was no significant effect of age on sperm concentration, motility, major and total defects. The proportion of spermatozoa with minor defects was highest (P < 0.05) in bulls 37-60 months of age. B. indicus bulls had higher (P < 0.01) sperm concentration, total number of spermatozoa and number of viable spermatozoa than B. taurus bulls, with intermediate values for cross-bred bulls. Increased sperm production was associated with increased testicular volume, SC, TVC fat cover, and SST top-to-bottom gradient. Decreased semen quality was associated with increased SC and bottom SST, and decreased scrotal shape, scrotal neck perimeter and vascular cone diameter. In summary, age and genetic group affected the characteristics of the scrotum, testes, and TVC, sperm production and semen quality. In addition, characteristics of the scrotum, testes and TVC were associated with sperm production and semen quality in bulls and could be assessed for breeding soundness evaluation.  相似文献

Four polled Hereford bulls were found to have satisfactory breeding soundness examinations. They were examined by B-mode ultrasonography, at which time the testicular diameter was measured by ultrasound. The testicles were removed, measured physically and this data was compared with the ultrasound measurements and correlated with other parameters of the breeding soundness examination. The testicles from bulls with normal breeding soundness examinations appeared ultrasonographically identical with the normal testicles from other species such as the pig and dog. Results indicated that the bull testicle diameter could be accurately measured by ultrasonography. Neither ultrasonographic nor physical testicular diameter measurements correlated statistically with scrotal circumference, but they did correlated well with testicular circumference, weight and volume.  相似文献

During a 5 month period, 82 breeding soundness examinations were conducted on 18 closely related Angus bulls. Twelve of the bulls had inbreeding coefficients of .25 and 6 of the bulls had coefficients of .02. The bulls ranged from 337 to 394 days of age at the initial examinations. The breeding soundness examinations indicated that the bulls as a group were subfertile. Of the 14 bulls not changing breeding soundness examination classifications during the 5 months, 7(50%) were “satisfactory”, 5(36%) were “questionable”, and 2(14%) were “unsatisfactory”. Scrotal circumference measurements for the “satisfactory” bulls at the last examinations averaged 34.6 cm. Six of the 18 bulls had persistent penile frenulums at the time of the initial examinations.  相似文献

Ninety-three beef bulls and 2316 females were used to determine the relationships between breeding assessments of bulls and subsequent mating performance. Each bull was given a breeding soundness examination (BSE) and two 10-min libido/serving capacity (L/SC) tests. Breeding potential of each bull was classified as satisfactory (BSE score = 60 to 100) or questionable (BSE score = 30 to 59); libido was classified as either high (mean score = 9.0 to 10) or medium (mean score = 6.0 to 8.5). Bulls were then joined, single-sire, with groups of females which had received one of two treatments to synchronize estrus. Bull-to-female ratios ranged from 1:7 to 1:51. Continuous observations were conducted on the mating activity of each group. One bull was removed from the experiment due to a severe breeding problem. Bulls of satisfactory breeding potential (n = 80) did not differ (P > 0.10) from bulls of questionable breeding potential (n = 12) in measurements of mating activity. However, by the end of the synchronized breeding period, bulls classified as satisfactory breeders achieved approximately a 9% higher (P < 0.10) pregnancy rate than did bulls of questionable breeding status (45.6 +/- 2.1% vx 36.5 +/- 5.3%). Bulls with a high libido (n = 69) serviced more (P < 0.01) estrous females (81.3 +/- 3.1% vs 63.5 +/- 4.2%) than bulls with a medium libido (n = 23). However, pregnancy rates achieved by bulls of either libido classification did not differ significantly. Individual components of the BSE as well as mean libido score were poorly correlated with pregnancy rates (r = -0.22 to 0.18). It was concluded that classification of bulls by mean libido score can aid in identifying groups of bulls that service more estrus synchronized females, whereas classification by BSE score aids in identifying groups of bulls that impregnate more females.  相似文献

Angus, Polled Hereford and Santa Gertrudis bulls were subjected to a breeding soundness evaluation (BSE) just prior to being exposed to cows for 90 to 95 days in single-sire units under natural breeding conditions on pasture. Forty-eight of 55 bulls subjected to scrotal and semen evaluations passed the BSE and were considered acceptable for breeding. Of the bulls that passed BSE, 18 (six bulls from each breed) were used for breeding for each yr of the 2-yr study. Of the bulls used for breeding, breed of sire differences were significant for scrotal circumference and calving rate, while differences among sires within breed of sire were significant for secondary morphology, motility score and calving rate. The difference between means for bulls used vs bulls that failed BSE was significant for all eight traits. Correlations among various scrotal and semen evaluations were compared for bulls used vs bulls that failed BSE. Of the eight traits, only the motility score was significantly correlated with the calving rate. After the exclusion of bulls that failed to pass BSE, there remained differences (P<0.01) among bulls within breed of sire for calving rate. Thus, there is a need for an additional easy-to-use procedure that would more accurately predict the breeding performance of bulls.  相似文献

A total of 764 breeding soundness examinations was conducted on beef bulls utilizing the method of examination and criteria for classifying bulls of the Society for Theriogenology. In addition to this examination each bull was subjected to scrotal circumference measurement and to weighing. Classification of the bulls according to breeding soundness potentials was as follows: 88% of the bulls were satisfactory potential breeders, 8% of the bulls were questionable potential breeders and 4% of the bulls were unsatisfactory potential breeders. The proportions of bulls in each classification; satisfactory, questionable, or unsatisfactory; were not different among the four breeds evaluated. The majority of bulls evaluated in this study were between 14 and 36 months of age and weighed between 900 and 1500 pounds. For the ages and weights evaluated, scrotal circumference measurement variances were not closely related to age and weight differences. There was a tendency shown for “Questionable” and “Unsatisfactory Potential Breeders” to have smaller scrotal circumference measurements. The study indicates that Angus, Charolais, Horned Hereford and Polled Hereford bulls of breeding ages and weights should have scrotal circumference measurements of at least 32 centimeters in order to be classified as “Satisfactory Potential Breeders”.  相似文献

Gossypol has been shown to impair sperm production in male ruminants. The purpose of this study was to determine if the adverse effects of gossypol on spermatogenesis in peripubertal bulls were reversible. Twenty-eight crossbred Angus bulls were allocated into treated and control groups at 11 months of age. For 8 weeks, treated bulls were fed a ration containing 8 mg of free gossypol per kilogram of body weight per day while control bulls were fed a soybean meal ration free of gossypol. At 28-days intervals, scrotal circumference was measured and semen collected to assess sperm motility and morphology. Seven control and seven treated animals were castrated 56 days after the start of the experiment and the testes were examined histologically. The remaining bulls were fed a gossypol-free diet for 210 days prior to castration. There were significant increases in primary and secondary sperm abnormalities in treated bulls 28 and 56 days after gossypol feeding. The number of sperm with proximal droplets was significantly higher in gossypol-treated bulls, suggesting testicular degeneration. There was no significant effect on the sperm motility, scrotal circumference, or histopathological characteristics of the testes. Four weeks after the end of gossypol feeding, primary and secondary abnormalities were still increased in gossypol-treated bulls, however in subsequent collection periods the percentage of abnormalities were similar between groups. At 210 days, there was no treatment effect on scrotal circumference, and histological characteristics of the testes were not different between groups. The deleterious effects of gossypol on the morphological characteristics of spermatozoa were reversible. Gossypol (8 mg/kg per day for 56 days) increased sperm abnormalities but the effects were reversible.  相似文献

A total of 92 range beef bulls (Hereford = 60; Angus = 32) were given a breeding soundness examination (BSE) and two assessments for sex drive prior to their use in 23 breeding trials employing estrous synchronized females. Bulls were in three age groups: yearlings (n=29), two year olds (n=36), and three year olds and older (n=27). All yearling bulls were virgins, but the majority of the older bulls had previous mating experience. Angus bulls were superior (P<0.01) to Herefords in spermatozoal morphology and BSE score. Scrotal circumference increased with age beyond two years in Angus bulls but not in Herefords. Spermatozoal abnormalities generally decreased with age. BSE scores did not differ significantly among age groups. Apart from number of mounts, measures of sex drive did not differ with age or breed of bulls. This represents qualified justification for the current practice of using the same sex-drive assessment procedures for Bos taurus bulls of various ages and breeds.  相似文献

Understanding and evaluating bovine testes   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The objective is to briefly review bovine testes and how they are assessed, with an emphasis on articles from Theriogenology. Scrotal circumference (SC) is the most common method to assess testicular size; it varies among individual bulls and breeds and is highly heritable. In general, a large SC is associated with early puberty, more sperm, a higher percentage of morphologically normal sperm, and better reproductive performance in closely related females. Consequently, there are minimum requirements for SC for breeding soundness. In prepubertal bull calves, there is an early rise (10–20 weeks of age) in LH, which is critically related to onset of puberty and testicular development. Feeding bulls approximately 130% of maintenance requirements of energy and protein from approximately 8 to 30 weeks of age increased LH release during the early rise, hastened puberty (approximately 1 month), and increased mature testis size and sperm production (approximately 20%–30%). However, high-energy diets after weaning (>200 days) often reduced sperm production and semen quality. A bull's testes and scrotum have opposing (complementary) temperature gradients, which keep the testicular temperature 2 °C to 6 °C cooler than core body temperature for production of fertile sperm (increased testicular temperature reduces semen quality). Infrared thermography, a quick and noninvasive method of assessing scrotal surface temperature, may be beneficial for evaluations of breeding soundness. The primary clinical use of ultrasonography in assessment of reproductive function in the bull is characterization of grossly detectable lesions in the testes and scrotum. In conclusion, testis size and function are critical for bull fertility, affected by nutrition, and readily assessed clinically.  相似文献

The breeding soundness evaluation (BSE) was used to evaluate Senepol (Bos taurus) bulls (n = 495) on St. Croix over a 7-year period. Young, unproven bulls (10-26 months of age) and breeding bulls (16 months to 8.5 years) were tested prior to sale or use in breeding. Inbreeding coefficients were determined for a subset of bulls (n = 290). The percentage of bulls passing the BSE increased (P < 0.0001) with age. Bulls that passed had a higher percentage (P < 0.0001) of normal and motile sperm as well as a larger (P < 0.0001) scrotal circumference than bulls that failed. No bulls failed the BSE for physical soundness traits or other health reasons. The incidence of testicular hypoplasia was 2.5 and 3.3% and the incidence of cryptorchidism was 1.4 and 0.9% in 12- and 16-month-old bulls, respectively, with no occurrence in bulls >20 months. The proportion of all bulls that failed the BSE and received an Unsatisfactory rating for scrotal circumference or sperm motility decreased (P < 0.0001) from >90 to <25% with age. The proportion of all bulls that failed the BSE and received an Unsatisfactory rating for sperm morphology decreased (P < 0.0001) from 99 to 83.3% with age. The inbreeding coefficient was higher (P < 0.03) in bulls that failed the BSE than in those that passed (2.24 +/- 0.19% versus 1.40 +/- 0.32%, respectively). There was a tendency for bulls with testicular hypoplasia or cryptorchidism to have a higher (P = 0.09) inbreeding coefficient than bulls with normal testes (2.90 +/- 0.46% versus 2.13 +/- 0.11%, respectively). In conclusion, Senepol bulls raised under tropical conditions had a low probability of passing the BSE at young ages, but the passing rate increased with age. Older Senepol bulls were more likely to fail the BSE due to abnormal sperm morphology than due to inadequate testicular size or sperm motility. To prevent unnecessary culling, a BSE should not be performed on Senepol bulls <16 months old.  相似文献

Young (9 to 10 mo) Aberdeen-Angus bulls (n = 5) in excellent body condition and pastured with approximately 35 other bulls of similar age on a farm in southeastern Alabama had fever, harsh pulmonary sounds, increased respiratory rate and variable amounts of hindlimb and scrotal edema. Bulls had mild microcytic, normochromic anemia. Numerous eperythrozoon organisms were identified on blood smears. Indirect hemagglutination inhibition test results for Eperythrozoon suis antibodies were negative either because E. suis antigens do not cross react with cattle eperythrozoon organism antibodies or blood was collected before there was sufficient time for seroconversion. Bulls had swelling of the scrotal wall, soft testes, and poor semen quality, characterized by low progressive motility and a high percentage of spermatozoa with primary and secondary abnormalities. Some of these abnormalities may be attributed to the age of the bulls. However, loss of scrotal thermoregulation was a major cause of testicular degeneration leading to poor semen quality. Other bulls in the herd had fever, increased respiratory rate, and swollen hindlimbs or scrotum. Subsequent to administration of oxytetracycline, parasitemia resolved rapidly, and clinical signs gradually abated. Four of five bulls successfully passed breeding soundness examinations six months after initial clinical illness. The remaining bull failed twice due to the presence of testicular inflammation.  相似文献

The objectives of this study were to determine relationships between scrotal size (SC; estimated from a video image) and testicular size, and between ultrasonographic echotexture of the testis and seminiferous tubule area in bulls. Video images of the scrotum of 49 Holstein-Friesian (H-F) bulls were recorded and digitized. Scrotal width and length were measured with custom software. After slaughter, scrotums (containing testes) were excised, SC and testicular height, width and volume were measured, and the testes were examined ultrasonographically. Correlations between SC and testicular width or volume (r = 0.86, P < 0.001 and r = 0.84, P < 0.001, respectively) were much higher than those between scrotal width and testicular width or volume (r = 0.23, P < 0.11 and r = 0.28, P < 0.06). Histological examination of the testes was performed in 31 of the bulls. Ultrasonographic echotexture of the testes (determined with custom software) was highly correlated (r = -0.5, P < 0.005) with seminiferous tubule area. Although SC was superior to video imaging for estimating testicular size, ultrasonographic imaging of the testes has considerable potential for the evaluation of testicular function in bulls.  相似文献

Ten bulls with a scrotal circumference of less than 30 cm at the end of growth performance testing, and 10 cohorts of the same age, size and breed type with a scrotal circumference greater than 30 cm were used to evaluate if testosterone response following GnRH administration could be used to test for fertility, for semen quality, and for specific pathologic testicular parenchymal changes. Serum testosterone concentrations were determined immediately before and 2 to 3 hours following intramuscular injection of 250 ug GnRH. Bulls were examined for breeding soundness, then fertility was tested in a breeding trial; testicular histology was assessed by determining the percentage of cross-sections of seminiferous tubules with no spermatocytes. The mean (+/- SEM) post-GnRH serum testosterone concentration for all bulls was 11.71 (+/-0.64) ng/ml. In order to examine for an association, the GnRH response was classified as above or below the mean for resultant serum testosterone concentration. The GnRH response classification was not related to the scrotal circumference, percentage of tubules devoid of spermatocytes, or percentage of progressively motile spermatozoa (P > 0.10). The percentage of morphologically normal spermatozoa was significantly higher (P < 0.05) in the bulls with a higher than mean testosterone secretion in response to GnRH injection. In the breeding trial, the percentage of heifers bred and the percentage of heifers pregnant (60 days post breeding) were not significantly different (P > 0.10) between the 2 classifications of GnRH response. The GnRH response test was related to the percentage of morphologically normal spermatozoa but did not predict fertility of yearling bulls in this study.  相似文献
