Fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) and PCR were used for analysis of phylogenetic structure of anaerobic sulfate-reducing bacterial communities in oxygen-containing upper water layers of meromictic basins: the Black Sea and the Gdansk Deep of the Baltic Sea. In the Black Sea (continental slope at depths 30–70 m), cells of sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) hybridizing with 16S rRNA-specific FISH-probes for Desulfotomaculum, Desulfobacter, and Desulfovibrio genera were revealed, whereas Desulfomicrobium-related bacteria were prevalent in the chemocline zone at a 150-m depth. Besides Desulfotomaculum (SRB subgroup 1), Desulfobacter (SRB subgroup 4), and Desulfovibrio-Desulfomicrobium (SRB subgroup 6), nested PCR with the use of 16S rRNA gene-specific primers detected the presence of Desulfococcus–Desulfonema–Desulfosarcina (SRB subgroup 5) in the oxygen-containing water column of the Black and Baltic seas. Active enrichment SRB culture that contained bacterium Desulfosporosinus sp. as a major component was obtained from the Black Sea water sample collected at a 70-m depth.  相似文献

Almost all the known isolates of acidophilic or acid-tolerant sulphate-reducing bacteria (SRB) belong to the spore-forming genus Desulfosporosinus in the Firmicutes. The objective of this study was to isolate acidophilic/acid-tolerant members of the genus Desulfovibrio belonging to deltaproteobacterial SRB. The sample material originated from microbial mat biomass submerged in mine water and was enriched for sulphate reducers by cultivation in anaerobic medium with lactate as an electron donor. A stirred tank bioreactor with the same medium composition was inoculated with the sulphidogenic enrichment. The bioreactor was operated with a temporal pH gradient, changing daily, from an initial pH of 7.3 to a final pH of 3.7. Among the bacteria in the bioreactor culture, Desulfovibrio was the only SRB group retrieved from the bioreactor consortium as observed by 16S rRNA-targeted denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis. Moderately acidophilic/acid-tolerant isolates belonged to Desulfovibrio aerotolerans-Desulfovibrio carbinophilus-Desulfovibrio magneticus and Desulfovibrio idahonensis-Desulfovibrio mexicanus clades within the genus Desulfovibrio. A moderately acidophilic strain, Desulfovibrio sp. VK (pH optimum 5.7) and acid-tolerant Desulfovibrio sp. ED (pH optimum 6.6) dominated in the bioreactor consortium at different time points and were isolated in pure culture.  相似文献

Prokaryotic diversity was studied in the planktonic communities of six Sol-Iletsk lakes (Orenburg oblast, Russia) varying in salinity level using the Illumina technology of high-throughput sequencing. The extremely halophilic archaea of the phyla Euryarchaeota and Nanohaloarchaeota, as well as the bacterial phylum Bacteroidetes predominated in the communities of lakes with salinity of 285–300‰. Representatives of the phyla Bacteroidetes and Actinobacteria, as well as of the class Gammaproteobacteria were predominant in the lakes with salinity 110?180‰. A bloom of Cyanobacteria was observed in Bol’shoe Gorodskoe Lake (10‰ salinity). The dominant OTUs in the lakes with high salinity were represented by archaea Halonotius sp., uncultured Nanohaloarchaea, and bacteria Salinibacter sp. In the lakes with medium salinity level the dominants included gammaproteobacteria Spiribacter sp., alphaproteobacteria Roseovarius sp., flavobacteria Psychroflexus sp., unidentified archaea of the family Haloferacaceae, actinobacteria Pontimonas sp. and Rhodoluna sp. In the lake with low salinity level cyanobacteria of the genus Planktothrix were predominant. Effect of salinity on prokaryotic taxonomic richness, composition, and diversity in planktonic communities of the studied lakes was demonstrated.  相似文献

The bacterial diversity of the outflows of Polichnitos (Lesvos, Greece) hot spring has been investigated. Cyanobacteria showing high sequence homologies with Phormidium sp. and Cyanobacterium aponinum were found. Members of the Alphaproteobacteria closely related to Rhodobium sp. Albidovulum sp., Rhodobacter sp., Microvigra sp., Nitratireductor sp. and Phaeobacter sp. Gammaproteobacteria, Betaproteobacteria and Firmicutes were represented by members of Idiomarina sp., Marinobacter sp., Shinella sp., Bacillus sp. and Clostridium sp. with sequence homologies ranging from 92% to 100%. Members of the Bacteroidetes and Planctomycetes were represented by sequences of novel phylogenetic linkages exhibiting 87–90% sequence homology with type strains. When the hot spring consortium was cultivated in bioreactor repeated batch culture under photo-autotrophic growth conditions at temperature < 30 °C, Cyanobacterium sp. dominated over Phormidium sp. Cyanobacterium sp. seems to have biotechnological potential since its extracellular broth exhibited a strong insecticidal activity against larvae of Aedes aegypti (a vector of important human diseases) and significant anti-cancer activity against the PC3 human prostate cancer cell line, while its toxicity against human endothelial cells was relatively low.  相似文献

The dechlorinating Dehalococcoides mccartyi species requires acetate as carbon source, but little is known on its growth under acetate limiting conditions. In this study, we observed growth and dechlorination of a D. mccartyi-containing mixed consortium in a fixed-carbon-free medium with trichloroethene in the aqueous phase and H2/CO2 in the headspace. Around 4 mM formate was produced by day 40, while acetate was constantly below 0.05 mM. Microbial community analysis of the consortium revealed dominance by D. mccartyi and Desulfovibrio sp. (57 and 22% 16S rRNA gene copies, respectively). From this consortium, Desulfovibrio sp. strain F1 was isolated and found to produce formate and acetate (1.2 mM and 48 µM, respectively, by day 24) when cultivated alone in the above mentioned medium without trichloroethene. An established co-culture of strain F1 and D. mccartyi strain 195 demonstrated that strain 195 could grow and dechlorinate using acetate produced by strain F1; and that acetate was constantly below 25 µM in the co-culture. To verify that such low level of acetate is utilizable by D. mccartyi, we cultivated strain 195 alone under acetate-limiting conditions and found that strain 195 consumed acetate to below detection (5 µM). Based on the acetate consumption and cell yield of D. mccartyi, we estimated that on average 1.2?×?108 acetate molecules are needed to supply carbon for one D. mccartyi cell. Our study suggests that Desulfovibrio may supply a steady but low amount of fixed carbon to dechlorinating bacteria, exhibiting important implications for natural bio-attenuation when fixed carbon is limited.  相似文献

The optical properties, i.e., absorption and scattering spectra of ten strains of cyanobacteria from the Baltic Sea and Pomeranian lakes (Aphanizomenon flos-aquae KAC 15, Microcystis aeruginosa CCNP 1101, Anabaena sp. CCNP 1406, Synechocystis salina CCNP 1104, Phormidium sp. CCNP 1317, Nodularia spumigena CCNP 1401, Synechococcus sp. CCNP 1108, Nostoc sp. CCNP 1411, Cyanobacterium sp. CCNP 1105, Pseudanabaena cf. galeata CCNP 1312) grown under low light conditions were investigated. Moreover, the chlorophylls, carotenoids, and phycobilin composition as well as the size structure of chosen cyanobacteria were measured. Studied species revealed high diversity both in optical properties with the absorption spectra similarity index ranging from 0.67 to 0.94 and the pigment composition. The chlorophyll-specific absorption coefficient at 440 nm a ph *(440) varied between 0.017 and 0.065 m2 mg?1. The influence of the package effect was only observed in the case of large filamentous cyanobacteria like N. spumigena or Nostoc sp. Interestingly, the package effect factor Q a *(675) for large-celled Anabaena sp. was 0.92. Besides chlorophyll a, only echinenone, β-carotene, and phycocyanin were present in all analyzed cyanobacteria strains. Zeaxanthin, which is widely used as a marker pigment for cyanobacteria, was absent in the toxic N. spumigena and Anabaena sp., which are the species that occur in the Baltic Sea most frequently causing summer cyanobacterial blooms. The investigation also showed that the sample preservation technique can introduce some major errors within the absorption band affected by the phycocyanin absorption.  相似文献

The diversity of nitrogen-fixing microorganisms in the soil of an oligotrophic Sphagnum peat bog was studied by molecular cloning of fragments of the nifH gene encoding one of the main components of the nitrogenase complex. The fragments were amplified from the DNA isolated from the peat samples collected at the same site in January (library I) and November (library II), 2005. Analysis of the nifH sequence libraries revealed high diversity of diazotrophic bacteria in peat soil: the first library consisted of 237 clones and 55 unique sequence types, the second one included 171 clones and 52 sequence types. Comparison of the two clone libraries showed that the composition and population structure of the nitrogen-fixing community depended greatly on the sampling time; they shared only 11 phylotypes. The sequences of representatives of the class Alphaproteobacteria prevailed in both libraries (27% and 57% of clones in libraries I and II, respectively). Representatives of the classes Deltaproteobacteria and Chlorobea were minor components of library I (6% and 7% of clones, respectively), whereas they prevailed in library II (18% and 24% of clones, respectively). Members of the class Chloroflexi were present only in library I, while members of the classes Bacilli, Clostridia, and Methanomicrobia were present only in library II. Our studies demonstrated that, for complete evaluation of the diversity of natural nitrogen-fixing communities, nifH libraries should consist of at least 200–300 clones.  相似文献

Triassic radiolarians from Kotel’nyi Island (New Siberian Islands, Arctic Region) are studied. Radiolarians occur in the Middle and Upper Triassic beds, which are well dated by ammonoids, nautiloids, and bivalves. In the Middle Triassic beds, which are composed of dark gray and black clays and claystones with interbeds of combustible schist, siltstone, clayey limestone, and many phosphatic concretions, the following two assemblages are recognized: (1) a Late Anisian assemblage, including Glomeropyle clavatum Bragin, sp. nov., G. boreale Bragin, G. manihepuaensis Aita, G. insulanum Bragin, sp. nov., Triassospongosphaera multispinosa (Kozur et Mostler), Tetraspongodiscus hibernus Bragin, sp. nov., T. borealis Bragin, sp. nov., Eptingium abditum Bragin, sp. nov., E. manfredi Dumitrica, Spongostephanidium japonicum (Nakaseko et Nishimura), and Ladinocampe vicentinensis Kozur et Mostler; (2) Late Ladinian assemblage, with Muelleritortis firma (Gorican), M. kotelnyensis Bragin, sp. nov., Tiborella nivea Bragin, sp. nov., Pseudostylosphaera goestlingensis (Kozur et Mostler), P. omolonica Bragin, Triassospongosphaera multispinosa (Kozur et Mostler), Sarla cincinnata Bragin, sp. nov., S. obscura Bragin, sp. nov., S. prava Bragin, sp. nov., and Eonapora stiriaca Bragin, sp. nov. The fact that these assemblages include taxa that are recorded more southerly, including paleotropical localities, and support dating based on mollusks, enables the use of these data for Boreal-Tethyan correlation. The greatest similarity to Tethyan associations is observed in the Late Carnian and Early Norian, that is, the periods of the greatest penetration of thermophilic mollusks into this basin. A total of 69 radiolarian species of 3 orders, 18 families, and 29 genera are described; 44 species are newly described; the stratigraphic and geographical ranges of the majority of taxa are improved considerably.  相似文献

Gram-negative bacilli such as Pseudomonas spp., Pseudoalteromonas sp., Angiococcus sp., Archangium sp., Burkholderia spp., Chromobacterium sp., Chondromyces sp., Cystobacter sp., Jahnella sp., Janthinobacterium sp., Lysobacter spp., Paraliomyxa sp., Photobacterium spp., Photorhabdus sp., Pontibacter sp., Ruegeria sp., Serratia sp., Sorangium sp., Sphingomonas sp., and Xenorhabdus spp. produce an enormous array of short peptides of 30 residues or fewer that are potential pharmaceutical drugs and/or biocontrol agents. The need for novel lead antibiotic compounds is urgent due to increasing drug resistance, and this review summarises 150 Gram-negative bacilli-derived compounds reported since 2000, including 40 cyclic lipopeptides from Pseudomonas spp.; nine aromatic peptides; eight glycopeptides; 45 different cyclic lipopeptides; 24 linear lipopeptides; eight thiopeptides; one lasso peptide; ten typical cyclic peptides; and five standard linear peptides. The current and potential therapeutic applications of these peptides, including structures and antituberculotic, anti-cyanobacterial, antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral, insecticidal, and antiprotozoal activities are discussed.  相似文献

In the third part of the revision of the genus Rhorus Förster, 1869, the Palaearctic species with the red metasoma and blackish face are considered and keyed. Ten new Western Palaearctic species are described: Rhorus akdara sp. n., Rh. antennalis sp. n., Rh. brunnifemur sp. n., Rh. dbari sp. n., Rh. hissaricus sp. n., Rh. goderdzi sp. n., Rh. petropolitanus sp. n., Rh. punctatissimus sp. n., Rh. suomi sp. n., Rh. trochanteratus sp. n., together with two new species from East Siberia, Rh. ribesii sp. n. and Rh. sakha sp. n. Upper Triassic Norian reef boulders, exposed in a locality near the fountain “Tavuk Cesme” (“Chicken Fountain”) in Taurus Mountains, southern Turkey yielded a large number of hypercalcified sponges, including “sphinctozoans”, “inozoans”, “spongiomorphids”, and “chaetetids”. The sphinctozoans from this locality are described in this paper. Geologically, this locality belongs to the Anamas-Akseki autochthonous. The reef boulders of this locality are exposed near the “Tavuk Cesme” fountain, located at the road, leading from the town of Aksu to Yenisarbademli. The following taxa are described: Amblysiphonella taurica nov. sp., Anthalythalamia riedeli Senowbari-Daryan, Calabrisiphonella sphaerica nov. sp., Calabrisiphonella cuifi nov. sp., Cinnabaria minima Senowbari-Daryan, Colospongia recta nov. sp., Colospongia sp. 1, Colospongia sp. 2, Colospongia sp. 3, Cryptocoelia compacta nov. sp., Cryptocoelia? sp., Deningeria crassireticulata Senowbari-Daryan, Zühlke, Bechstädt and Flügel, Discosiphonella minima Senowbari-Daryan and Link, Gigantothalamia ovoidalis Senowbari-Daryan, Hajarispongia dipoyrazensis nov. sp., Hajarispongia cortexifera nov. sp., Kashanella irregularis Senowbari-Daryan, Kashanella cylindrica nov. sp., Parauvanella ferdowsensis Senowbari-Daryan, Parastylothalamia cylindrica nov. gen., nov. sp., Asiphothalamia polyosculata nov. gen, nov. sp., Sollasia norica nov. sp., and Thaumastocoelia sphaeroida Senowbari-Daryan. The most abundant sponge is Amblysiphonella taurica nov. sp. followed by Hajarispongia dipoyrazensis nov. sp., Colospongia and Discosiphonella minima Senowbari-Daryan and Link are also relatively abundant. The stylothalamid sponge Parastylothalamia nov. gen. is an abundant sponge genus in other Norian reefs of the Taurus Mountains, but is rare at the “Tavuk Cesme” locality.  相似文献

Microbial enhanced oil recovery (MEOR) is an emerging oil extraction technology that utilizes microorganisms to facilitate recovery of crude oil in depleted petroleum reservoirs. In the present study, effects of wheat bran utilization were investigated on stimulation of indigenous MEOR. Biostimulation conditions were optimized with the response surface methodology. The co-application of wheat bran with KNO3 and NH4H2PO4 significantly promoted indigenous MEOR (IMEOR) and exhibited sequential aerobic (O-), facultative (An-) and anaerobic (A0-) metabolic stages. The surface tension of fermented broth decreased by approximately 35%, and the crude oil was highly emulsified. Microbial community structure varied largely among and in different IMEOR metabolic stages. Pseudomonas sp., Citrobacter sp., and uncultured Burkholderia sp. dominated the O-, An- and early A0-stages. Bacillus sp., Achromobacter sp., Rhizobiales sp., Alcaligenes sp. and Clostridium sp. dominated the later A0-stage. This study illustrated occurrences of microbial community succession driven by wheat bran stimulation and its industrial potential.  相似文献

The structure of a cellulose-decomposing bacterial association was described using phenotypic and phylogenetic characteristics. Based on their morphological, physiological, and biochemical characteristics, the bacteria isolated from the association were identified as Sporocytophaga sp., Xanthomonas sp, and Pseudomonas sp. The phylogenetic analysis based on comparison of 16S rRNA gene fragments obtained from the association revealed six bacterial species belonging to the clusters of Alcaligenes sp., Ochrobactrum sp., Sphingomonas sp., Achromobacter sp., Pseudomonas sp., and Flexibacteriaceae (Sporocytophaga).  相似文献

The scaphopod families Pulsellidae and Gadilidae from sandy and clayey beds of the Jurassic (Callovian?Volgian) of European Russia are investigated. In Pulsellidae, the following taxa are described: Annulipulsellum with two subgenera, Annulipulsellum (species A. ambiguum sp. nov., A. rugosum sp. nov.) and Mesopulsellum subgen. nov. (A. alternoides sp. nov., A. calloviense sp. nov., A. hirtistriatum sp. nov., A. medium sp. nov.), Gracilipulsellum gen. nov. (G. iodaense sp. nov.), Gardneridentalium gen. nov. (G. primitivum sp. nov., G. reticulatum sp. nov.), and Mesoentalina gen. nov. (M. fabulosa sp. nov.). New taxa of the family Gadilidae include the genus Mesoantalis gen. nov. with the species M. clava sp. nov., M. expolitum sp. nov., and M. volgense sp. nov.  相似文献

Supercalcified sponges, including sphinctozoans, inozoans, chaetetids, spongiomorphids, occurring in Upper Triassic (Norian-Rhaetian) shallow-marine limestones of Musandam Mountains in United Arab Emirates (UAE), are described. The following taxa were determined: sphinctozoans: Hajarispongia osmani Senowbari-Daryan and Yancey, Nevadathalamia arabica n. sp., Nevadathalamia conica n. sp., Fanthalamia milahaensis n. sp., Iranothalamia incrustans (Boiko), Cinnabaria regularis n. sp.; inozoans: Cavsonella triassica n. sp., Molengraaffia regularis Vinassa de Regny, Peronidella? sp., Circopora cf. caucasica Moiseev, Circopora? sp.; spongiomorphids: Spongiomorpha sp.; chaetetids: Lovcenipora chaetetiformis Vinassa de Regny, Lovcenipora musandamensis n. sp., Lovcenipora sp., chaetetid sponge gen. et sp. indet. The most abundant sponge in the studied material is Nevadathalamia arabica n. sp. The described sponge association of the Arabian shelf (Musandam Mountains) shows close affinity to the sponge association known from age-equivalent terranes in the Panthalassa Ocean (Sonora Mountains in Mexico; Pilot Mountains in Nevada, USA), but is remarkably different from sponge associations in carbonates bordering the Tethys. This difference goes along with the biogeography of wallowaconchid bivalves and is most likely attributed to climatic, palaeogeographic or oceanographic factors.  相似文献

New combinations of names (Apionion evestigatum (Scudder, 1893), comb. nov., Archaeoheilus packardii (Scudder, 1893), comb. nov., A. provectus (Scudder, 1876), comb. nov., A. deleticius (Scudder, 1893), comb. nov., A. lacoei (Scudder, 1893), comb. nov., Pseudophaops perditus (Scudder, 1876), comb. nov.) are established. The first fossil records of the tribe Ecelonerini from the New World and genus Perapion from the Green River Formation are provided.  相似文献

A new subfamily of ichneumonids, Palaeoichneumoninae, is described from the Lower Cretaceous of Transbaikalia (Baisa locality) and Mongolia (Bon Tsagan and Kholbotu Gol localities). The new subfamily is intermediate between the archaic subfamily Tanychorinae and the Recent Ichneumonidae. It includes 12 new species, described in three new genera: Palaeoichneumon freja gen. et sp. nov., P. ornatus sp. nov., P. danu sp. nov., P. micron sp. nov., P. mirabilis sp. nov., P. tenebrosus sp. nov., P. townesi sp. nov., Rudimentifera mora gen. et sp. nov., R. suspecta sp. nov., Dischysma maculata gen. et sp. nov., D. similis sp. nov., and D. ramulata sp. nov.  相似文献

The following new species are described from Chinese provinces Gansu, Sichuan, and Yunnan, based on the material from the Zoological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg, where the types are deposited: Zeugophora nigroaerea sp. n. (Zeugophorinae), Cryptocephalus pseudosplendens sp. n. Dynamics of enterobacteria of normal intestinal microflora was studied in Apis mellifera mellifera L. bees hibernating under snow in the Western Urals. The cell numbers (N) of the predominant species Klebsiella oxytoca increased from 10-106 CFU/bee in November 2004 to 104-107 CFU/bee in March 2005; its frequency of occurrence (P) increased from 92 to 100%. Increase of Providencia rettgeri (11.2004: N up to 106, P 25%; 03.2005: N 102-106, P 80%) was accompanied by the substitution of Morganella morganii (11.2004: N up to 106, P 25%) with Proteus vulgaris (03.2005: N up to 105, P 8%). By spring, Hafnia alvei and Citrobacter sp., which are pathogenic to bees, disappeared (11.2004: N up to 105, P 13 and 10%, respectively). Endophytic species Pantoea agglomerans, Leclecria sp., and other representatives of the “Enterobacter agglomerans” group were present in November and after the first emergence in spring (N up to 105; November: P 15%; April: P 23%). In April, the number of enterobacteria decreased to 105, and P. rettgeri became the predominant species (P 54%) instead of K. oxytoca (P 43%).  相似文献

The new subtribes Palaeorhamphina subtrib. nov. of the tribe Rhamphini and Eocenesibiniina subtrib. nov. of the tribe Tychiini, new genera Archaeoeugnomus gen. nov. (type species A. balticus sp. nov.), Palaeorhamphus gen. nov. (type species P. primitivus sp. nov.), and Eocenesibinia gen. nov. (type species E. prussica sp. nov.), new subgenus Palaeoleiosoma subgen. nov. (type species L. klebsi sp. nov.) of the genus Leiosoma Stephens, and new species Leiosoma klebsi sp. nov., Caulophilus rarus sp. nov., C. squamosus sp. nov., Ceutorhynchus alekseevi sp. nov., C. electrinus sp. nov., Dorytomus nudus sp. nov., Pachytychius eocenicus sp. nov., Archaeoeugnomus balticus sp. nov., Palaeorhamphus primitivus sp. nov., Orchestes tatjanae sp. nov., and Eocenesibinia prussica sp. nov. are described. Electrotribus Hustache, 1942 placem. nov. is transferred from the tribe Derelomini of the subfamily Curculioninae to the tribe Acicnemidini of the subfamily Molytinae. Succinostyphlus erectosquamata (Rheinheimer, 2007) placem. nov. et comb. nov. is transferred from the genus Electrotribus Hustache, 1942 to the genus Succinostyphlus Ku?ka, 1996. These are the first records of representatives of the tribes Plinthini, Acicnemidini, Eugnomini, and Rhamphini in the Baltic amber.  相似文献
