Studies on the effects of gamma radiation on the infectivity of Trypanosoma rangeli (strain H14) for the vector Rhodnius prolixus revealed that (i) the LD(50) (lethal dose for 50% of bugs) for uninfected insects was 4147 rads; (ii) irradiated insects with a dose of 1200 rads subsequently infected with the flagellates exhibited a mortality of 45%, while uninfected irradiated insects showed a mortality of 5%, and infected nonirradiated insects exhibited 10% mortality; (iii) flagellates were present in the hemolymph of irradiated insects 7 days postinfection (p.i.), while in nonirradiated insects the parasites appeared in the hemocoel 18 days p.i.; (iv) T. rangeli infection decreased the number of hemocytes significantly and induced the formation of nodules in the hemolymph of both irradiated and nonirradiated insects; and (v) gamma irradiation affected the ultrastructural organization of the epithelial cells of the small intestine, principally the perimicrovillar membranes and microvilli. In this paper, we discuss the significance of the intestinal microenvironment of R. prolixus with regard to its interaction with T. rangeli.  相似文献

The present study was designed to compare unirradiated Salmonella typhimurium survival during storage after inoculation in either irradiated or unirradiated poultry feed. The effects of irradiation (5 kGy) on the indigenous feed microflora and on the survival of marker strain of S. typhimurium contaminated after irradiation treatment were determined during 56 days of storage of either soybean meal (SBM) or meat and bone meal (MBM) based feeds. The initial aerobic bacterial populations were reduced more than 90% in both SBM (4.96 to 4.08 ± 0.03 log10 CPU/g feed) and MBM (5.12 to 3.90 ± 0.03) by irradiation. Irradiation treatment reduced the average fungal counts during 56 days of storage in both SBM (4.24 to 2.74 ± 0.03) and MBM (4.38 to 2.15 ± 0.03) containing feeds. However, unirradiated S. typhimurium populations inoculated after irradiation of the feed were not different in either irradiated or nonirradiated SBM and MBM based feeds. Therefore, the differences in fungal versus bacterial sensitivity among the feed types and storage times suggests that gamma irradiation can alter the makeup of indigenous microbial populations in feed but this does not appear to have a discernible influence on subsequent survival of unirradiated S. typhimurium added as a dry inoculum after irradiation.  相似文献

The effect of solute concentration on the sensitization of Clostridium perfringens spores to heat by ionizing radiation was investigated. As we have shown previously, spores of C. perfringens treated with gamma radiation are now sensitive to subsequent heat treatments than are spores that receive no radiation treatment. When gamma-irradiated spores were heated in the presence of increasing concentrations of glycerol or sucrose, the heat sensitivity induced by irradiation was progressively decreased. The magnitude of the increase in heat resistance induced by extracellular solutes was greater in gamma-irradiated spores than in nonirradiated spores. Based on these observations, it is proposed that the induction of heat sensitivity in spores by radiation is related to the loss of osmoregulatory or dehydrating mechanisms in irradiated spores.  相似文献

This study summarizes weight development, plasma glucose concentrations and reproductive parameters in lactating (n = 46) and non-lactating Lipizzaner mares (n = 11) throughout the breeding season. It was the aim of the study to analyse if an energy deficit with possible effects on reproductive functions occurs at any time during the first 4 months of gestation. Mean gestation length was 334.3 +/- 7.3 days. Gestation of foals born in May/June was shorter (P < 0.01) than for foals born in March/April. Out of the 46 lactating mares, 44 ovulated between Days 8 and 18 postpartum and two mares ovulated on days 30 and 145, respectively. Pregnant mares were significantly (P < 0.001) heavier (600.1 +/- 5.3 kg) than non-pregnant mares (521.8 +/- 10.0 kg) at the beginning of the study. Birth resulted in weight reduction of 64.8 +/- 2.4 kg. During the first 2 weeks postpartum mares lost on average 3.0 +/- 1.8 kg and in the following 2 weeks gained 3.6 +/- 1.4 kg of weight. Thereafter, weight increased slightly but continuously (P < 0.01). At no time after foaling, weight differed significantly between groups. Weight of the foals three days after birth varied between 29 and 67 kg (53.7 +/- 1.1 kg). Average daily weight gain of foals was relatively constant throughout the study period (1.15 +/- 0.17 kg). Although lactation at no time was associated with a major weight loss, it had clear effects on energy metabolism as shown by constantly lower plasma glucose concentrations in lactating mares. Glucose concentrations decreased after foaling and were significantly lower in lactating mares from Weeks 3 to 16 after foaling than at corresponding times in non-lactating mares (P < 0.01). However, glucose concentrations were still within the physiological range. Mares seem to be able to compensate energy losses during lactation mainly by increasing feed intake and not by mobilisation of body fat.  相似文献

Objective: The objective of the study was to determine if consumption of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) by mice could induce apoptosis in adipose tissue. Other objectives were to determine the influence of feeding mice CLA for ≤2 weeks on body fat, energy expenditure, and feed intake. Research Methods and Procedures: A mixture of CLA isomers (predominantly c9,t11 and t10,c12) was included in the AIN‐93G diet at 0, 1, and 2%, and fed to mice for 12 days (Trial 1), or was included at 2% and fed to mice for 0, 5, and 14 days (Trial 2). Feed intake was measured daily and energy expenditure was determined by direct calorimetry on day 9 in Trial 1. Retroperitoneal fat pads were analyzed for apoptosis by determination of DNA fragmentation. Results: Dietary CLA reduced feed intake by 10% to 12% (p < 0.01), but either did not influence or did not increase energy expenditure as indicated by heat loss. Body weight was not influenced by consumption of CLA in Trial 1 but was increased (p < 0.01) by CLA in Trial 2. Weights of retroperitoneal, epididymal, and brown adipose tissues were lower (p < 0.01) in animals fed CLA, although liver weight was increased (p < 0.10; Trial 1) or not changed (Trial 2). Analysis of retroperitoneal fat pad DNA from both trials indicated that apoptosis was increased (p < 0.01) by CLA consumption. Discussion: These results are interpreted to indicate that CLA consumption causes apoptosis in white adipose tissue. This effect occurs within 5 days of consuming a diet that contains CLA.  相似文献

We used the mark-and-recapture method in the field to test the effect of gamma radiation on the dispersal ability of the male sweetpotato weevil, Cylas formicarius elegantulus (Summers) (Coleoptera: Brentidae), a serious sweetpotato pest in Japan. To evaluate the dispersal ability of male sweetpotato weevil, we released 27,218 males (13,302 males irradiated with a dose of 200 Gy and 13,916 nonirradiated males) in two replications (September and October 2005). Each replication lasted 5 d from the release of weevils to the removal of traps, and male weevils were released twice (1 and 3 d before trap setting). Forty pheromone traps were placed in lines corresponding to eight compass directions and five distance classes (20, 50,100, 200, and 500 m) in each replication. We captured 2,263 irradiated males (17.0%) and 2,007 nonirradiated males (14.4%) in the two replications. Six irradiated and eight nonirradiated males were captured in the traps 500 m far from the release point. All parameters to evaluate the dispersal ability of irradiated male sweetpotato weevil (recapture rate, dispersal distance, and dispersal direction) were similar to nonirradiated males in three of the four trials. However, parameters were different between irradiated males and nonirradiated males in one trial. Because the majority of parameters consistently show that the similarity of the dispersal ability, we considered that male sweetpotato weevil irradiated with a dose of 200 Gy possessed equal dispersal ability to that of nonirradiated males in the field.  相似文献

Total tract apparent digestibility of dietary fibrous components and parameters of the faecal digestive ecosystem were compared at immediate and late post-weaning periods using five foals. The foals were abruptly weaned (day 0) from their mares at 6 months of age. Immediately (day 0 to day 14) and later (day 131 to day 194) after weaning, foals received the same basal diet consisting of hay and pellets. Pellets were fed at 0.36% BW. Hay was offered ad libitum and corresponded to 120% of the average voluntary hay intake measured individually during the immediate (days 1 to 4) and late (days 180 to 183) post-weaning periods. Total feed intake was measured during the two post-weaning periods (from days 7 to 10 and from days 187 to 190). Total tract apparent digestibility of DM, organic matter (OM), NDF and ADF was assessed using a 4-day partial collection of faeces (from days 8 to 11 and from days 188 to 191). Major bacterial groups in faeces, Fibrobacter succinogenes, DM, pH and volatile fatty acids were quantified at days −1, 1, 3, 7, 14 and 180. During the post-weaning period, minor changes were observed in the composition and activity of the faecal microbiota. The amylolytic count in faeces decreased immediately after weaning (between days 1 and 7) (P<0.05). Later (from days 14 to 180), the molar proportion of propionate decreased (P=0.03). The limited alteration seen in the hindgut ecosystem was probably due to the fact that the foals had undergone a gradual dietary transition from milk to solid feed before weaning. Such conclusions have also been reported in other animal species. Between the immediate and late post-weaning periods, the average daily feed intake and the digestibility coefficients of DM, OM, NDF and ADF increased (P<0.05). These results could suggest an increase in the fibre-degrading capacity of foals after weaning.  相似文献

To determine the effect of a transient doe-litter separation (48 h) on milk production and feed intake from 1 to 21 days post-partum, a control group (C) in which litters had free access to nursing, and a biostimulated group (B) in which litters were separated from their does from d 9 to d 11 post-partum were used. Total milk production was higher in (C) than in (B) does (5090+/-1.1 g vs. 4593+/-150 g, P < 0.05). On days 12, 13, 14 and 15 of the lactation period, milk production was 40% (P < 0.0001), 18% (P < 0.05), 15% (P < 0.05), and 15% (P < 0.01) higher in (C) than in (B), respectively. No significant differences were observed in feed intake during the period studied (7961+/-352 g in (C) does, and 7834+/-329 g in (B) does). After fasting, 11-day-old kits showed lower gut weight, body weight, empty stomach relative weight (RW), stomach content RW and small intestine RW (P < 0.05), but the differences disappeared at 21 days of age. A reduction in villous height (P < 0.065) was observed in separated kits at 11 days old compared to 9- and 11 -day-old control kits (579.0+/-28.4 vs. 664.64+/-27.6, and 724.33+/-24.1 microm, respectively), but no differences were observed at either 16 or 21 days of age. Specific jejunal lactase activity increased significantly in 11-day-old separated kits (P < 0.05). A significant increase in sucrase activity at 21 days in both groups (P < 0.05) was detected. In conclusion, a fasting period of 48 h at 9 days of age does not compromise the subsequent development of certain digestive parameters of young rabbits.  相似文献

Neutrophils play an important role in protecting against infection. Foals have age-dependent deficiencies in neutrophil function that may contribute to their predisposition to infection. Thus, we investigated the ability of a CpG-ODN formulated with Emulsigen to modulate functional responses of neutrophils in neonatal foals. Eighteen foals were randomly assigned to receive either a CpG-ODN with Emulsigen (N = 9) or saline intramuscularly at ages 1 and 7 days. At ages 1, 3, 9, 14, and 28, blood was collected and neutrophils were isolated from each foal. Neutrophils were assessed for basal and Rhodococcus equi-stimulated mRNA expression of the cytokines interferon-γ (IFN-γ), interleukin (IL)-4, IL-6, and IL-8 using real-time PCR, degranulation by quantifying the amount of β-D glucuronidase activity, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation using flow cytometry. In vivo administration of the CpG-ODN formulation on days 1 and 7 resulted in significantly (P<0.05) increased IFN-γ mRNA expression by foal neutrophils on days 3, 9, and 14. Degranulation was significantly (P<0.05) lower for foals in the CpG-ODN-treated group than the control group at days 3 and 14, but not at other days. No effect of treatment on ROS generation was detected. These results indicate that CpG-ODN administration to foals might improve innate and adaptive immune responses that could protect foals against infectious diseases and possibly improve responses to vaccination.  相似文献

Levels of the tumor suppressor protein p53 are normally quite low due in part to its short half-life. p53 levels increase in cells exposed to DNA-damaging agents, such as radiation, and this increase is thought to be responsible for the radiation-induced G1 cell cycle arrest or delay. The mechanisms by which radiation causes an increase in p53 are currently unknown. The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of gamma and UV radiation on the stability and ubiquitination of p53 in vivo. Ubiquitin-p53 conjugates could be detected in nonirradiated and gamma-irradiated cells but not in cells which were UV treated, despite the fact that both treatments resulted in the stabilization of the p53 protein. These results demonstrate that UV and gamma radiation have different effects on ubiquitinated p53 and suggest that the UV-induced stabilization of p53 results from a loss of p53 ubiquitination. Ubiquitinated forms of p21, an inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinases, were detected in vivo, demonstrating that p21 is also a target for degradation by the ubiquitin-dependent proteolytic pathway. However, UV and gamma radiation had no effect on the stability or in vivo ubiquitination of p21, indicating that the radiation effects on p53 are specific.  相似文献

Plasma were collected from mice which had been immunosuppressed with 650 R from a cobalt-60 gamma radiation source and infected with Trypanosoma musculi. Trypanosomes were also collected from immuno-suppressed mice and from nonirradiated, infected animals. Rabbit antiserum was prepared against trypanosomes fron nonirradiated mice and employed in immunodiffusion analyses to detect trypanosome exoantigens (ExAg) in plasma of irradiated, infected mice and cellular antigens (CAg) in extracts of parasites which had been collected from immunosuppressed and nonirradiated hosts. The rabbit antiserum formed at least 3 precipitin lines with plasma from irradiated, infected mice and 8–9 precipitin lines with extracts of parasites which were obtained from immunosuppressed and untreated mice. Two of the precipitin reactions were against mouse plasma antigens (PAg). Lower levels of PAg appeared to be present in extracts of trypanosomes which were isolated from the irradiated mice than in those from nonirradiated animals.Mice synthesized antibodies against 1 ExAg which was demonstrable in immunodiffusion tests by 14 days after T. musculi infection. A single precipitin reaction was also seen after 21 days. One to 2 precipitin lines were formed with ExAg after 42 days of infection. Two to 3 precipitin lines formed between the ExAg and mouse antisera collected 98, 175 and 341 days after injection of the T. musculi.Similar immunodiffusion reactions were detected with CAg present in both the extracts of T. musculi which had been isolated from irradiated and those from nonirradiated mice and the mouse antisera. One to 2 precipitin lines were found between CAg and antisera from mice which had been infected for 14 days. Two precipitating antigen-antibody systems were seen with antisera collected after 21, 42 and 98 days and 2–3 precipitin reactions were formed between CAg and antisera collected from mice 175 and 341 days after infection.Absorption and immunodiffusion analyses conducted with rabbit and mouse antisera indicated parasite ExAg in plasma of irradiated, T. musculi infected mice were also present in preparations of CAg of the trypanosomes. The persistence of antibody and the increase in the numbers of antigen-antibody systems detected by immunodiffusion during the course of the infection may in part be related to the presence of parasites in capillaries of the kidneys long after they cannot be demonstrated in the peripheral blood of the host.  相似文献

An experiment examined the effect of restricted feeding during early gestation on later feed intake and on kindling performance in young rabbit does. Nulliparous rabbit does (n=94) were inseminated at 14.5 weeks of age. During the first 10 days of gestation, does were fed individually either to appetite (AL) or 1.35 times maintenance requirement (R). After 10 days of gestation, all animals were fed to appetite. Does were weighed at insemination and after kindling. Feed intake was recorded during the first 10 days of gestation and weekly, thereafter. The number of does that kindled, number of live and stillborn kits and litter weight was recorded. The experiment ended after kindling. During feed restriction, AL does consumed 70 g/day more on an average than R does (209 and 139+/-4 g for AL and R, respectively; P<0.001). In the first and second week after feed restriction, compensatory feed intake occurred. Restrictive fed does ate more than AL does (+34+/-5 g/day from days 11 to 17 of gestation; P<0.001; +17+/-6g/day from days 18 to 24 of gestation; P<0.05). In the last week of gestation, feed intake of AL and R was comparable (89 and 100+/-5 g, respectively). At kindling, AL does had consumed 8+/-3g/day more feed over the total gestation period than R does (P<0.04). Feeding level during early gestation neither affected the kindling rate (83%), total litter size (7.9+/-0.4) nor the number of does with stillborn kits (10 versus 9 for AL and R, respectively). Regardless of treatment, in the last week of gestation (days 25-32) the number of does with stillbirth was lower and average birth weight was higher (P<0.01) in does eating more than the average daily feed intake compared to does eating below average. Based on the results of this study it was concluded that feed restriction for 10 days in early gestation does not affect kindling performance of young does, but feed intake in the last week of gestation affects kit survival and birth weight.  相似文献

The effect of aging (2-14 months) and total body irradiation (5.7 Gy of gamma radiation) on liver regeneration was investigated in rats 30 h after partial hepatectomy. Exposure of rats to irradiation 30 min before partial hepatectomy caused latent injury in the remaining liver cells. During the course of liver regeneration this became manifested as a delay in increasing the nucleic acid concentration and content and liver weight and, furthermore, as inhibition of the increase in the mitotic index and cellularity and pronounced increase in the frequency of chromosome aberrations in the postmetaphase. The pattern of age-related changes during liver regeneration was the same as that after irradiation, so that the differences between irradiated and nonirradiated animals became smaller with age.  相似文献

Immediately following unilateral nephrectomy the remaining kidney of juvenile male Sprague-Dawley rats was sham irradiated or irradiated to doses of 14-30 Gy. Following irradiation the animals were placed on isocaloric diets of either 20 or 4% protein. Median life spans for the animals on the low protein diet were significantly increased compared to the median life spans on the 20% protein diet. Serum urea nitrogen (SUN) levels were periodically measured in rats from each of the experimental groups. SUN levels in the irradiated rats fed the 20% protein diet increased significantly over unirradiated controls as a function of time. In contrast animals fed the 4% protein diet showed no significant changes in SUN levels irrespective of the size of radiation dose and time post irradiation. Renal protective factors calculated as the ratio of 80% survival times for animals fed the 20% protein diet compared to animals fed the 4% protein diet can be calculated to be 2.3 at 18 Gy and 2.8 at 22 Gy. Likewise, a SUN protective factor calculated as the ratio of percentage of nonirradiated control SUN values for the two diets (SUN 20% irradiated) (SUN 20% nonirradiated) (SUN 4% irradiated) (SUN 4% nonirradiated) is 2.4 for 18 Gy and 3.9 for 22 Gy.  相似文献

Spring wheat grown in pots outdoors was transferred to growth rooms for various periods to study the effect of increasing the temperature from 14-4 to 20-3 oC (Expt 1) or from day/night values of 15-0/15-2 to 20-0/15-2 oC (Expt 2) and of increasing the amount of visible radiation in a 16 h day from 424 to 792 J cm-2 (Expt 1) or 374 to 740 J cm-2 (Expt 2). There were no interactions between temperature and radiation. In Expt 1 neither the increase in temperature nor extra radiation, applied for 14 days immediately after the appearance of double ridges on the stem apex, or 14 days later, increased grain yield at maturity. Warmth early, but not late, increased dry weight, leaf area and the number of floret primordia immediately after treatment, but these effects had disappeared by anthesis, 30 days later. Dry weight but not leaf area was increased by extra radiation but the effects had disappeared 2 wk after treatment. An increase in temperature imposed for 16 days starting 5 or 21 days after anthesis (Expt 2) increased dry weight of the ear and decreased that of the rest of the plant immediately after treatment, and decreased leaf area at all times. When plants from the two temperatures were put together in the same conditions, ear growth of plants that had been in the warm was slower than that of plants from the cold treatment, so that the difference in ear weight observed after 16 days of treatment reversed and grain yield was decreased by warmth applied in either period; the component of yield decreased by warmth was grain size. Additional radiation in either post-anthesis period increased dry weight of all parts of the plant and had negligible effects on leaf area. Final grain yield was increased by c. 15% because the individual grains were larger. Early treatment also increased grain number slightly. The effects of treatment during the two post-anthesis periods were similar in size, and additive.  相似文献

The objective was to evaluate the efficacy of domperidone in the prevention of reproductive complications of fescue toxicosis in periparturient mares. Pregnant mares at ≤310 days of gestation were fed ≥200 μg ergovaline per kg diet daily in endophyte-infected fescue hay and seed, starting ≥30 days before their expected foaling date (EFD: 340 days after breeding). Thirty-five mares were randomized to a treatment group to receive either domperidone gel (n = 20, 1.1 mg/kg, PO, once daily) or placebo (n = 15). Treatment was initiated 10 to 15 days before the EFD and continued for 5 days after foaling. “Treatment success” was defined as foaling within 14 days of the EFD, adequate mammary development on the day of foaling, and adequate lactation for 5 days postpartum. Twenty-seven mares were included in the effectiveness analysis. More mares in the domperidone group (12/13, P < 0.0001) were treatment successes than in the control group (1/14). Gestation length was shorter (P = 0.0011), and lactation at foaling (P = 0.0011) was better for the domperidone-group mares. Foals from two control mares were born dead and four others died or were euthanized within a few days after birth, compared with one foal death (an autolyzed twin) from a domperidone-treated mare. Plasma IgG concentrations were evaluated in 24 foals. Failure of passive transfer of immunoglobulins (IgG <800 mg/dL) occurred in 13/16 (81%) foals of domperidone-group mares and 7/8 (88%) foals of control mares. In conclusion, the reproductive complications of fescue toxicosis in periparturient mares induced by a fescue seed/hay model were prevented by treatment with domperidone.  相似文献

Asynchronously growing V79 cells were assayed for mutation induction following exposure to hyperthermia either immediately before or after being irradiated with 60Co gamma rays. Hyperthermia exposures consisted of either 43.5 degrees C for 30 min or 45 degrees C for 10 min. Each of these heat treatments resulted in a survival level of 42%. For all sequences of combined treatment with hyperthermia and radiation, cell killing by gamma rays was enhanced. Mutation induction by gamma rays was enhanced when heat preceded gamma irradiation, but no increase was observed when heat was given after gamma exposures. Treatment at 45 degrees C for 10 min gave a higher yield in mutants at all gamma doses studied compared to treatment at 43.5 degrees C for 30 min. When heat-treated cells were incubated for different periods before being exposed to gamma rays, thermal enhancement of radiation killing was lost after 24 h. In contrast, only 5-6 h incubation was needed for loss of mutation induction enhancement.  相似文献

This trial was conducted to study the effect of livestock production system (freedom extensive system (FES) v. semi extensive system (SES)) and amount of finishing feed (1.5 v. 3.0 kg of commercial feed) in SES on carcass characteristics, meat quality and nutritional value of meat foal slaughtered at 18 months of age. For this study, a total of 49 foals (21 from FES and 28 from SES) were used. The obtained results showed that SES had a positive influence on carcass characteristic because these foals showed the best values for live weight, carcass weight, dressing percentage, perimeter of leg (PL) and carcass compactness index. On the other hand, finishing feeding also had a significant (P<0.05) effect on PL and lean thickness, as the highest values were obtained in foals finished with 3 kg of commercial fodder. The physico-chemical properties were significantly affected by the livestock production system with the exception of ashes content (P>0.05). Foals finished in SES increased in 408% the intramuscular fat content (0.23 v. 1.17%, for foals reared in FES and SES, respectively). On the other hand, L*-value and a*-value were significantly (P<0.01) affected by livestock production system, as foals from the FES group had a more intense redder color (higher CIE a*-value) and higher lightness (higher CIE L*-value) compared with those from the SES group. Finally, meat nutritional value was significantly affected by livestock production system, as foals from an extensive production system on wood pasture could be considered as healthier in relation to their fatty acid profiles (low n-6/n-3 ratio and high hypocholesterolemic/hypercholesterolemic ratio) as a result of the beneficial grass intake on meat fatty acid profile.  相似文献

Aims: The effects of gamma radiation on three heat shock proteins (Hsps) (GroEL, DnaK and GroES) synthesis in two Gram-negative (Escherichia coli and Salmonella serotype Typhimurium) and two Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus and Listeria monocytogenes) bacteria were investigated. Methods and Results: The bacterial strains were treated with three radiation doses to induce cell damage, to obtain a viable but nonculturable state, and to cause cell death. Western blot analysis and quantification of Hsps in bacteria were performed immediately after irradiation treatment. In the four foodborne pathogens, GroEL was strongly induced by gamma rays in a dose-dependent manner, confirming the involvement of this protein in the cellular response to the stress generated by ionizing radiation. In addition, it was found that E. coli exposed to gamma radiation showed a significantly induction of DnaK and GroES proteins when compared with nonirradiated bacteria, whereas a GroES slight induction and a DnaK inhibition were observed in Salm. Typhimurium. Conclusions: The gamma rays influence the synthesis of Hsps in foodborne pathogen in a way that critically depends on the radiation dose. Significance and Impact of the Study: The study of stress response to several radiation doses was undertaken to elucidate how bacteria can survive in harsh conditions and cope with gamma radiation used to control foodborne pathogens and to characterize their adaptative response to this treatment.  相似文献
