The cynipoid subfamily Figitinae is poorly represented in the Afrotropical region with two genera (Figites Latreille and Xyalophora Kieffer) and six species currently known. Here we record an additional two genera (Neralsia Cameron and Lonchidia Thomson) for the region and describe three new species: Neralsia
haddocki
sp. n.; Xyalophora
tedjoansi
sp. n.; Xyalophora
tintini
sp. n. Benoit’s species described in 1956 are synonymized under Figites
aciculatus (Benoit, 1956): Figites
effossus
syn. n.; Figites
favonius
syn. n.; Figites
furvus
syn. n.; Figites
fraudator
syn. n. Identification keys to the figitine genera and species occurring in the Afrotropical region are provided. Online interactive Lucid Phoenix and Lucid matrix keys are available at: http://www.waspweb.org/Cynipoidea/Keys/index.htm 相似文献

The Afrotropical Cynipoidea are represented by 306 described species and 54 genera in four families: Cynipidae, Figitidae, Liopteridae and Ibaliidae, the latter represented by a single introduced species. Seven of these genera are only represented by undescribed species in the region. Seven new genus-level synonymies, one genus resurrected from synonymy, 54 new combinations, one combination reinstated, and one new replacement name are presented. We provide identification keys to the families, subfamilies and genera of cynipoid wasps occurring in the Afrotropical region (Africa south of the Sahara, including Madagascar and southern Arabian Peninsula). Online interactive Lucid Phoenix and Lucid matrix keys are available at: http://www.waspweb.org/Cynipoidea/Keys/index.htm. An overview of the biology and checklists of species for each genus are provided. This paper constitutes the first contributory chapter to the book on Afrotropical Hymenoptera. 相似文献

andersoni
sp. n. (type locality: Chiapas, Chiapas Highlands, Cerro Huitepec) and Geocharidius
vignatagliantii
sp. n. (type locality: Chiapas, Motozintla, Sierra Madre de Chiapas, Benito Juárez) from Mexico; Geocharidius
antigua
sp. n. (type locality: Sacatepéquez, 5 km SE of Antigua), Geocharidius
balini
sp. n. (type locality: Suchitepéquez, 4 km S of Volcan Atitlán), Geocharidius

sp. n. (type locality: Quiché Department, 7 km NE of Los Encuentros), Geocharidius
jalapensis
sp. n. (type locality: Jalapa Department, 4 km E of Mataquescuintla), Geocharidius
longinoi, sp. n. (type locality: El Progreso Department, Cerro Pinalón), and Geocharidius
minimus
sp. n. (type locality: Sacatepéquez Department, 5 km SE of Antigua) from Guatemala; and Geocharidius
celaquensis
sp. n. (type locality: Lempira Department, Celaque National Park), Geocharidius
comayaguanus
sp. n. (type locality: Comayagua Department, 18 km ENE of Comayagua), Geocharidius
disjunctus
sp. n. (type locality: Francisco Morazán, La Tigra National Park), and Geocharidius
lencanus
sp. n. (type locality: Lempira Department, Celaque National Park) from Honduras. For all members of the group, adult structural characters, including male and female genitalia, are described, and a taxonomic key for all members of the integripennis species group is presented based on these characters. Behavioral and biogeographical aspects of speciation in the group are discussed, based on the morphological analysis. In all cases of sympatry, pairs of closely related species show greater differences in sizes than pairs of more remotely related species. Integripennis group species occupy six different montane areas at elevations above 1300m, with no species shared among them. Major faunal barriers in the region limiting present species distributions include the Motagua Fault Zone and a gap between the Guatemalan Cordillera volcanic chain and the Honduran Interior Highlands no higher than 900m in elevation. Highest species diversity is in the Guatematan Cordillera (six species), second highest in the Honduran Interior Highlands area (four species). 相似文献

Three new species of Mycetophilidae – Cordyla
monticola
sp. n., Cordyla
pseudopusilla
sp. n. and Cordyla
reducta
sp. n. – are described from the Colombian Andes, representing the first described species of Cordyla Meigen from the Neotropical region. Colour photos of their habitus, wing and terminalia are provided. The morphological affinities of male terminalia are discussed in a worldwide context. The distributional pattern of the genus clearly indicates a case of northern elements reaching the north-western region of the Neotropics that corresponds to a secondary extension of a Holarctic clade to the south. 相似文献

Exosphaeroma
amplicauda (Stimpson, 1857) from the west coast of North America is reviewed and redescribed and revealed to be a group of closely related species. A neotype is designated and the species redescribed based on the neotype and topotypic specimens. Exosphaeroma
amplicauda is known only from the coast of California, at Marin, Sonoma and San Mateo Counties. Exosphaeroma
aphrodita (Boone, 1923), type locality La Jolla, California and previously considered nomen dubium is taken out of synonymy and re-validated. A further three species: Exosphaeroma
paydenae
sp. n., Exosphaeroma
russellhansoni
sp. n., and Exosphaeroma
pentcheffi
sp. n. are described herein. Sphaeroma
octonctum Richardson, 1899 is placed into junior synonymy with Exosphaeroma
amplicauda. A key to the Pacific West Coast Exosphaeroma is provided. 相似文献

Nine species of terrestrial isopods are reported for the Polynesian island of Rapa Nui (Easter Island) based upon museum materials and recent collections from field sampling. Most of these animals are non-native species, but two are new to science: Styloniscus
manuvaka
sp. n. and Hawaiioscia
rapui
sp. n. Of these, the former is believed to be a Polynesian endemic as it has been recorded from Rapa Iti, Austral Islands, while the latter is identified as a Rapa Nui island endemic. Both of these new species are considered ‘disturbance relicts’ and appear restricted to the cave environment on Rapa Nui. A short key to all the oniscidean species presently recorded from Rapa Nui is provided. We also offered conservation and management recommendations for the two new isopod species. 相似文献

A new genus of soft coral from the Republic of Congo is described, Complexum
gen. n. Nine West African octocoral species previously described in the genus Alcyonium by Tixier-Durivault (1955) are referred to this new genus, and a new species is described and figured, Complexum
pusillum
sp. n. The new species is characterized by having encrusting growth form and abundant spiny clubs in the surface of the polyparium. It colonizes shallow calcareous rocky banks (5 to 20 m depth) existing in coastal water of the region of Pointe-Noire. Based on molecular phylogeny this new genus is well separated from Alcyonium species. 相似文献

In this study we provide an update to the taxonomy of the ant genus Tetramorium Mayr in Madagascar. We report the first record of the Tetramorium
setigerum species group in Madagascar and describe the only Malagasy representative as Tetramorium
cavernicola
sp. n., which is known only from a cave in Ankarana. In addition, we provide an overview of the 19 proposed Malagasy species groups, and discuss their zoogeography and relationships to other groups and larger lineages within the hyper-diverse genus Tetramorium. At present, we recognise a highly unique Malagasy Tetramorium fauna with 113 species endemic to the island of Madagascar out of a total of 125 translating into an endemism rate of 93%. We hypothesise that this fauna is based on one or a few colonisation events from the Afrotropical region, with subsequent adaptive radiation in Madagascar. Furthermore, we present an updated and illustrated identification key to the Tetramorium species groups in the Malagasy region. 相似文献

The diverse genus Ophion is almost entirely undescribed in the Nearctic region. In this paper we define the Ophion
scutellaris species group. This species group is well-supported by analysis of DNA (ITS2, COI, and 28S D2-D3) and morphology. It includes the Palearctic species Ophion
scutellaris and the Nearctic species Ophion
idoneus. An integrative analysis of DNA, geometric wing morphometrics, classical morphometrics and qualitative morphology indicates that this species group contains a minimum of seven species in North America, although the full diversity of the group has likely not been sampled. Ophion
clave Schwarzfeld, sp. n., Ophion
aureus Schwarzfeld, sp. n., Ophion
brevipunctatus Schwarzfeld, sp. n., Ophion
dombroskii Schwarzfeld, sp. n., Ophion
keala Schwarzfeld, sp. n. and Ophion
importunus Schwarzfeld, sp. n. are described, and a key to the known Nearctic species of the Ophion
scutellaris group is provided. 相似文献
