The literary data on the study of the house-dust mites during the period from 1864 till 1983 are given. The methods of the house dust samples collection in flats and the methods of the house-dust mites isolation from the house dust are evaluated. The house-dust mites fauna including more than 130 species is described. The synantropic mites-pyroglyphides are the main part of the fauna, the stored products mites and predatory cheyletid and gamasid mites occur regularly. The rest part of the fauna consists of the different mites got into house by chance. The literary data on the influence of temperature and relative humidity on the development and growth of the mite population are given. The house-dust mites feeding and digestion processes bearing relation to the formation of the mite allergen are reviewed. The original data complete the literary data on the fauna and distribution of the house-dust mites in Moscow.  相似文献

During the past few decades, house dust mites have attracted worldwide interest among medical entomologists and acarologists because of their importance in causing nasobronchial allergic disorders in human beings. House dust mites are present throughout the year; however, their relative densities differ in different seasons and habitats. Because the prevalence of house dust mite allergen is important epidemiologically and clinically, detailed knowledge on the seasonal abundance of important allergenic mites is of great importance for better understanding of the pathogenesis of the disease. In view of this, a systematic survey was carried out on the prevalence of total mites and four common allergenic mites in the city of Kolkata for two consecutive years. Both bed and bedroom floor dust were collected separately from homes inhabited by asthmatic patients situated in different corners of the city on monthly basis from January 2004 to December 2005. The population levels of total mites and four common allergenic mites, namely Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, D. farinae, Austroglycyphagus geniculatus, and Blomia tropicalis separately, were highest during the pre-monsoon period (March–May), irrespective of habitat, whereas densities were low in all cases during winter (December–February). The study indicates that season had the most significant effect on the relative abundance of house dust mites except Dermatophagoides farinae, irrespective of habitat.  相似文献

Dust mites are an important cause of allergic diseases worldwide. The traces of Dermatophagoides farinae and Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus can be found all over the world, while Blomia tropicalis are more common allergenic mites in tropical areas. A variety of allergenic components in dust mites have been found, apart from the different positive rates of IgE reactions in dust mite allergic patients, their biological characteristics, effects on the innate immune system, and especially their distribution characteristics in patients are different. Studying the relationship between dust mite allergens and clinical significance will help for diagnosis of patients and formulation of corresponding Allergen Specific Immunotherapy.

The seasonal dynamics of allergenic mite quantity in house dust of three model apartments in Moscow has been observed during three years. Two periods of increase in mites' quantity have been revealed: wintry and summer-autumnal. Mite breeding takes place both in winter and in summer-autumnal period. The quantity variations of allergenic mites are cyclic and have individual traits peculiar to each population of these mites.  相似文献

House dust mites play an important role in the pathogenesis of allergic diseases. Many factors may influence mite growth. The presence of mites is related to mean temperature and humidity as well as altitude. The aim of this study was to analyze the mite fauna in 5 regions of western Anatolia, Turkey, that have similar climatic properties with low mean temperature and humidity, but differ in altitude. During the period October-November 2004, house dust was collected from 290 homes in 5 different cities. House dust mites were isolated in 67 (23.1%) of 290 samples. The family Pyroglyphidae (Astigmata) was present in all positive samples. This study suggests that the selected western Anatolian regions that share similar environmental conditions host similar dust mite populations.  相似文献

Storage mites
The interest in allergy to storage mites has increased over the past few years. Storage mites feed on a variety of substances and they can be found in many different products such as grain, flour, hay and straw, but also in house dust samples. The more common genera areLepidoglyphus, Tyrophagus, Glycyphagus, Acarus andBlomia. Several species of storage mites have been shown to cause IgE-mediated sensitization among rural workers, who to a varying extent develop asthma, rhinitis or conjunctivitis when exposed to barn dust. However, a number of studies, have reported on sensitization to storage mites also among urban people, indicating that sensitization is not restricted to individuals with occupational exposure. Regarding the allergenic relationship between storage mites and house dust mites, there appears to be a limited allergenic cross-reactivity between the two species. However, both species also possess their own unique allergens. Further research on identification and characterization of storage mite allergens and their cross-reactivity is required to understand the complexity of epitopes and allergens.  相似文献

The specific composition of acarid mites occurring in dust of rural dwellings in the Far East of the USSR has been first studied and characters of their fauna have been revealed. 3 species are most frequently encountered of which Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus accounts for 56% of all finds. 6 species happened to be new for the fauna of dwellings. The typical synanthropic species Glycyphagus domesticus is totally absent from dwellings but occurs in 90% of honey-bee hives.  相似文献

House dust mites have been reported to be the most important allergen in human dwellings. Several articles had already shown the presence of different mite species at homes in Brazil, being Pyroglyphidae, Glycyphagidae and Cheyletidae the most important families found. This paper is an annotated bibliography that will lead to a better knowledge of house dust mite fauna in Brazil.  相似文献

Ecological observations were made on house dust mites of Kolkata as they form a major part of synanthropic mite community. Dust samples were collected with regard to the abundance of mite in relation to certain socio-ecological parameters like, habitat preference, location of house, construction pattern of house, types of mattresses used and the frequency of cleaning of mattresses. Among two different habitats examined, bed dust contained significantly higher mite population (p < 0.01) than the corresponding bedroom floor dust. The density of total mites and glycyphagids are significantly higher in rural houses in comparison to those of urban houses. In contrast, rural houses contained least number of pyroglyphids/g of dust. The density of total mites as well as pyroglyphid mites/g of dust are higher in mud house in comparison to concrete house. The density of total mites, pyroglyphids and glycyphagids are higher in cotton mattress in comparison to that of foam mattress. The frequency of cleaning has a significant effect on reducing mite densities i.e., the more the frequency of cleaning the lesser are the mite densities.  相似文献

Allergenic mites are responsible for inducing hypersensitive reactions in genetically predisposed people worldwide. Mites in dust from 30 Irish homes with pets (dogs, n = 23; cats, n = 7) were compared with those in 30 homes without pets. House dust mites constituted 78% of all mites recorded, with Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus (Acariformes: Pyroglyphidae) representing 57–72% of mites in furniture and mattresses in both home types compared with only 22% of mites in pet beds. Although storage mites accounted for just 13% of all mites recorded, they represented 46% of mites recorded in pet beds. Median levels of the dust mite allergen Der p 1 (µg/g) in dust samples from mattresses in homes without pets were significantly greater than in mattresses from homes with pets, reflecting the greater densities of D. pteronyssinus found in the former home category. Mite species richness was greater in homes with pets (17 species) than in homes without pets (13 species). This suggests that although the presence of pets can result in a wider variety of epidemiologically important mite species within households, increased competition among mite species may result in a more balanced mite fauna in the home, inhibiting the dominance of any one species and hence lowering allergen‐associated risks.  相似文献

Storage mites have been recognized as a cause of asthma and rhinitis. Studies from several countries have shown that the IgE-mediated allergy to storage mites is of considerable importance, especially in rural populations. This study aimed to identify and characterize new allergens from Tyrophagus putrescentiae. A partial cDNA sequence encoding tropomyosin was isolated from the cDNA library by immunoscreening using anti-mouse IgG1 sera raised against T. putrescentiae whole body extract. The deduced amino acid sequence shares 64-94% identity with previously known allergenic tropomyosins. Its recombinant protein was produced by using a pET 28b expression system and purified by affinity chromatography using Ni-NTA agarose. The IgE reactivities of tropomyosins from T. putrescentiae and Dermatophagoides farinae were compared by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Recombinant Tyr p 10 showed 12.5% (5/40) IgE-binding reactivity, whereas recombinant Der f 10 showed 25% (10/40) IgE-binding reactivity against the same sera from storage mite-sensitized and house dust mite-sensitized subjects. Both recombinant Tyr p 10 and Der f 10 showed little inhibition of IgE binding to T. putrescentiae crude extract by ELISA. Tropomyosin seems to contribute only a small portion of the cross-reactivity with house dust mites.  相似文献

Pesticides and the soil fauna: effects of aldrin and DDT in an arable field   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Aldrin dust (3 cwt. of 1¼% per acre) or DDT dust (2 cwt. of 5 % per acre) was applied to small plots replicated four times and four plots were untreated. All plots were kept fallow for one year. Soil samples were taken at 2 to 3-monthly intervals and the fauna extracted by a notation method. The insecticides did not affect Lumbricidae, Enchytraeidae or Nematoda. Nearly 100 species of arthropods were found, and the greatest effects were those of DDT on mesostigmatid mites and of aldrin on entomobryid or isotomid Collembola and on Pauropoda. Most species of Collembola increased in DDT-treated plots, apparently because mesostigmatid mites were reduced. In terms of biomass Coleoptera and Diptera were most affected. Both insecticides killed more pests than predators or beneficial animals. The effects of the insecticides were greatest during late summer or autumn.  相似文献

Storage mites are important primary pests but present methods for trapping them are either rudimentary or have several limitations. These prevent effective early detection or reliable monitoring of mites in the food, animal feed and associated industries. The BT Trap is the first trap designed specifically for the detection and monitoring of mite infestation. This trap is made up of a mixed food base lure held in a robust adjustable housing. It is user friendly, requires an exposure period of only 4 days and can be used in a dusty environment. The performance of the BT Trap was evaluated in the laboratory and the mean minimal capture rate of mites was 62%. In a comparative field trial, this trap detected significantly more mites than the bait bag or the fishmeal trap. The traps performance was also assessed in four different types of premises. These were premises engaged in the production of cereal based dry pet food, specialist animal feed, traditional cheese, and in the finished cereal section of a large transit storage warehouse. A total of 17 genera or species of storage and predatory mites was detected in these four premises, with at least seven species detected in each of these premises. This study confirms that the BT Trap was able to function under the rigours of use in the field. It has demonstrated its potential as a useful tool for early detection and monitoring of mites in production premises. It also provided information that was vital for improving existing mite control measures and in implementing effective management strategies. The British Crowns right to retain a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence in and to any copyright is acknowledged. This revised version was published online in May 2005 with a corrected cover date.  相似文献

Grain dust is composed of a large number of materials, including various types of grain and their disintegration products, silica, fungi, insects and mites. The clinical syndromes described in relation to exposure to grain dust are chronic bronchitis, grain dust asthma, extrinsic allergic alveolitis, grain fever and silo-filler''s lung. Rhinitis and conjunctivitis are also common in grain workers. While the concentration and the quality of dust influence the frequency and the type of clinical syndrome in grain workers, host factors are also important. Of the latter, smoking is the most important factor influencing the frequency of chronic bronchitis. The role of atopy and of bronchial hyperreactivity in grain dust asthma has yet to be assessed. Several well designed studies are currently being carried out in North America not only to delineate the frequency of the respiratory abnormalities, the pathogenetic mechanisms and the host factors, but also to establish a meaningful threshold limit concentration for grain dust.  相似文献

Since guanine is not only an essential constituent of vital nucleic acids, but also the main end product of nitrogenous waste excretion in arachnids, it is a potential candidate for a hygienic index for mite activity in house dust. The public health significance of these mites is based on their production of allergen in the home environment. In 101 mattress-dust samples, total number of mites and guanine content were positively correlated. The hygienic standard of 10 mites per 0.1 g dust (as derived from Danish investigations) was met in all samples with less than 0.06% guanine in the dry dust. Where the guanine content was more than or equal to 0.25% in the dry dust, mite numbers were higher than 10 mites per 0.1 g dust in 43 of the 44 samples. The three different groups (negligible mite content, possibly allergologically relevant mite concentration and allergologically unhygienic mite situation) could be easily discriminated on the color scale. The guanine-AZO-dye reaction in vacuum cleaner dust is a strong and promising candidate for an allergologically relevant hygienic index in the home.  相似文献

The correlation between climatic conditions and mite numbers in houses from rural areas was studied in 13 agricultural communities (kibbutzim and moshavim) in nine geo-climatic subregions of Israel. Mites were present in 97% of the dust samples. The average number of mites per gram of dust in the different localities ranged between 84 and 2053. The maximum number of mites (7440/g dust) was found in a carpet from a house in Geva Carmel in the northern coastal region. The most prevalent species of mites were Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and Dermatophagoides farinae, which were found in 85.6% and 71.3% of the samples, respectively. The house dust mites D. pteronyssinus, D. farinae and Euroglyphus maynei constituted 94.8% of the mites. Most of the mites were isolated from the carpets and sofas (37.0% and 33.7%, respectively), and a smaller number from beds (29.3%). The smallest number of mites (< or = 250/g dust) were found at a minimum relative humidity (RH) of 30% and lower, with a maximum temperature of 32 degrees C and higher, i.e. in the Jordan valley and Negev mountains. A greater number of mites (250-500/g dust) were found at a minimum ambient RH of 35-40% and a maximum temperature of 32 degrees C and higher, i.e. the Hula valley. A large number of mites (500-1000/g dust) were found at a minimum RH of 35-40% with a maximum temperature of 30 degrees C and lower, i.e. in the Judean and Samarian range, as well as in upper Galilee. The largest number of mites (1000-2000/g dust) was found at a minimum RH of 45% and higher, with a maximum temperature ranging between 30 and 32 degrees C. These conditions occur in the coastal strip, the coastal plain and in the Judean and Samarian foothills. A monthly examination of two houses in Zova, a kibbutz in the Judean hills next to Jerusalem, and two houses from Palmachim, a kibbutz in the coastal region, revealed that the highest prevalence of mites was found in the months April-November and May-November, respectively. In Zova, the highest number of mites were found during the months of June and July while the highest concentrations of D. pteronyssinus-antigen (Der p I) were measured during the month of September. A positive correlation between mite numbers and the quantity of Der p I in house dust was found.  相似文献

Summary Arthropods and xerophilic fungi in dust from 5 mattresses and air-borne fungi were identified and counted every 4 weeks from January 1976 to October 1977.The arthropod fauna consisted mainly of the pyroglyphid mites Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus (58%) and Euroglyphus maynei (30%). The fungal flora consisted of Aspergillus restrictus (48%), A. glaucus (16%), Wallemia sebi (3%) and Penicillium spp. (25%). Air-borne fungi belonged to the same taxa but in different frequencies, 30, 7, 21 and 27%, respectively. Mattresses differed in quantities of mites and Penicillium. In July 1977, the highest population density of pyroglyphid mites was encountered: 69 specimens/g of dust. In the same month the numbers of A. restrictus rose significantly, reaching a maximum of 3.8×104 diaspores/g of dust. Most air-borne fungi were isolated in the winter period of 1976/1977. No positive correlation was found between the numbers of air-borne and mattress-dust fungi. The summer of 1976 was exceptionally dry resulting in both a premature decline of the mite populations and a low level of A. restrictus diaspores. The seasonal peaks of A. restrictus and pyroglyphid mites correspond and suggest a synergistic cooperation which may result in an increased house-dust allergen production in the environment of asthmatic patients.Supported by grant no. 230 of the Dutch Asthma Foundation  相似文献

Summary House-dust flora and fauna were compared in the maritime cool temperate climate (in three degrees of continentality), the mediterranean warm temperate climate, the arctic climate and the tropical climate. An inverse relationship exists between continentality of the temperate climate and the numbers of arthropods and fungi (mesophilic as well as xerophilic) in the dust of the houses. The numbers of arthropods and fungi were lowest in mediterranean and arctic climates, most likely because of the limiting effect of the drier indoor climate. Fungi are more tolerant of dry conditions than house-dust inhabiting mites. Generally the highest numbers of fungal diaspores and arthropods were found in the tropics, where, however, the lowest number of positive samples was also found, especially for the species of the Aspergillus glaucus group and for Wallemia sebi. Maritime cool temperate climate showed the highest numbers of positive samples for fungi and mites. In general, a relationship exists between relative humidity and the density of fungal diaspores and arthropods.Supported by grants no. 294 and 78.30 of the Dutch Asthma Foundation  相似文献
