In this paper we describe Kallymenia crouaniorum Vergés & Le Gall, sp. nov. (Kallymeniaceae), a new marine red alga from the north-eastern Atlantic Ocean. rbcL and LSU sequences of this species, previously misidentified in the field as Kallymenia reniformis, diverged from those of other Kallymenia species by at least 7.5% and 5.2%, respectively. Kallymenia crouaniorum also has a set of distinctive vegetative and reproductive characteristics, including a deeply lacerate frond, a short stipe, dentate margins, large cortical cells up to 110 μm in diameter, highly refractive stellate medullary cells with arms up to 1000 μm in length, and a monocarpogonial branch system. Molecular phylogenies inferred from rbcL and LSU data indicated, albeit with weak support, that this new species is a sister taxon of a lineage encompassing the generitype K. reniformis, as well as most species of Kallymenia included in the phylogenetic analysis. The main morphological characters that delineate monocarpogonial Kallymenia species are presented. Moreover, after reviewing the literature and several herbarium specimens, we found in the Weber-van Bosse Herbarium a specimen collected at Roscoff in August 1894 with the anatomical characters of the species described here, confirming that this newly described species has in fact been overlooked and is not a recent introduction.  相似文献

Using sequences of 5′ region of the cytochrome oxidase subunit 1 gene, large subunit rDNA, and ribulose‐1,5‐bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase large subunit gene as genetic markers to elucidate their phylogenetic positions, six unknown species from Western Australia, Tasmania, Lord Howe Is., and Norfolk Is. cluster with Meredithia in the Kallymeniaceae (Gigartinales), and are described as new members of this previously monospecific genus. Specimens from Bermuda referable to Kallymenia limminghei Mont. in the 20th century also clustered with this genetic grouping, not with the generitype of Kallymenia. The Bermudian specimens are further shown to be morphologically distinct from the type of K. limminghei (Guadeloupe, Caribbean Sea) and are described as a new species, Meredithia crenata. Using these Indo‐Pacific and Bermudian collections, our analyses further show that Psaromenia is closely related to Meredithia, and that Cirrulicarpus nanus sensu stricto should be returned to Meredithia.  相似文献

The female reproductive structures and their development, and the vegetative structure are studied in 17 species of red algae in the Cryptonemiales (Rhodophyceae). Three genera, Weeksia, Constantinea, and the type species of Leptocladia, are removed from the Dumontiaceae to a newly created family, the Weeksiaceae, because of differing postfertilization events leading to the development of the gonimoblast from a cell of the carpogonial branch. Three genera of Dumontiaceae are studied: Pikea, including P. californica, the type species, and Pikea robusta a newly described species; Dilsea californica, and a newly described species of Neodilsea, a genus heretofore known only from the northwestern Pacific. Two transfers are made from the genus Leptocladia, 1 to Farlowia, as F. conferta, and 1 to Rhodophyllis (Gigartinales) as R. peruviana. Three species in the Kallymeniaceae are redescribed: Kallymenia pacifica, a rare and nearly unknown species from southern California and adjacent Pacific Mexico; K. norrisii from central California; and K. oblongifructa from Washington, Oregon, and northern California.  相似文献

Abstract

On the spore development and the growth of Kallymenia microphylla J. Ag. (Rhodophyceae, Cryptonemiales) creeping thallus. — The filamentous creeping axis produced by spore grows into a terminal cell and then branches out into a monostratified creeping thallus looking like a disc. This creeping thallus is looking exactly like that of the Rhodocorton haucki (Schiffner) Hamel. Compared to the other species of Kallymenia, we find out that this creeping thallus has cellular fusions as well; they are more frequent and appear quite early here.  相似文献

A new assay for aminopeptidase P was established by coupling with proline iminopeptidase using Gly-Pro-chromogen (e.g. Gly-Pro-β-naphthylamide, Gly-Pro-p-nitroanilide, or .Gly-Pro-4-methyl coumarin amide) as the substrate. With each substrate, a linear relationship was established between the enzyme amounts and color development or fluorescence due to the chromogen released. This assay method did not suffer from interference by materials in culture broth. By using this assay method, aminopeptidase P was partially purified from Escherichia coli HB101 by chromatographies on DEAE-Sephadex and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). On the chromatogram with a DEAE-Sephadex column, two peaks of aminopeptidase P were observed and were named APP-I and APP-II. APP-I was further purified by HPLC using DEAE-5PW and Phenyl-5PW columns. Optimum pHs of APP-I and APP-II were 8.0 and 9.0, respectively. In contrast to APP-I which was stable around pH 10, APP-II was stable at pH 8 to 9. After incubation for 30 min at pH 8.0, fifty percent of the remaining activity of APP-I and APP-II were observed at 60°C and 50°C. APP-I and APP-II were activated 3-fold by the addition of 5 and 30 μm Mn2+. They were inhibited by EDTA, and reactivated by adding Mn2 +. The molecular weights of APP-I and APP-II were 350,000 and 210,000, respectively. Each enzymes released the amino terminal amino acid when proline is at the penultimate position. The velocity of hydrolysis by the enzymes was not significantly different for most X-Pro bonds (X = amino acid) of peptides except for Pro-Pro bond. APP-II hydrolyzed penta-(Pro-Pro-Gly) at a much higher rate than APP-I, suggesting the aminopeptidase P reported by Yaron and Mlynar (BBRC, 32, 658 (1968)) to be APP-II.  相似文献

The red alga Kallymenia reniformis (Rhodophyta, Cryptonemiales), collected on the west coast of Brittany, contained 13% ash, 5.6% crude protein and 38.7% soluble carbohydrate (on percent dry wt). The phycocolloid extract (38 % dried wt) was investigated using chemical and spectroscopic (IR and 13C NMR) methods. Preliminary results show that this polysaccharide belongs to the lambda-carrageenan family.  相似文献

ObjectiveContact X-Ray 50 kV (CXRT) has proven its efficiency to treat rectum and skin cancers. The goal of this technological research was to design and produce a new CXRT machine with dedicated applicators to replace the Philips unit not any more manufactured.Materials and methodsThe P50 was assembled in UK and the characteristics of the machine were evaluated with spectrometers, ions chambers, Gafchromic films and Monte Carlo code. The applicators were designed and manufactured in Nice. Dosimetric data were measured for each applicator. Validated protocols were used to treat patients.ResultsBetween September 2009 and November 2011, the performances of the P50 was judged satisfactory with a dose rate close to 15 Gy/min depending on the applicator. The dose distribution was according to objectives. Clinical results achieved in 62 patients treated in centre Antoine-Lacassagne for rectum, skin or eyelid cancers confirmed the efficiency and good tolerance of CXRT. Similar results in rectal cancer were observed in Clatterbridge with 120 rectal cancers treated with P50.DiscussionThese results are encouraging and should contribute to the international dissemination of CXRT. New machine (Papillon Plus) should be designed and produced for intraoperative irradiation and treatment of vaginal vault.ConclusionThis experience of research and development well structured within the frame of TecSan project should be encouraged further to facilitate technological innovation in the field of radiotherapy.  相似文献

The Mediterranean red algal flora is diverse but current knowledge of its diversity is at best fragmentary. Here, a new species of Kallymenia from Croatia is described based on morphological and molecular data. Members of the genus Kallymenia share similar morphology making their generic identification relatively easy, whereas species level identification is notoriously difficult. In this paper an integrative systematics study using three gene markers, cox1 (COI), rbcL and nuclear LSU, allowed us to (i) confirm the identity of four existing members of this genus inhabiting the Mediterranean Sea: K. feldmannii, K. lacerata, K. patens and K. requienii; (ii) detect the presence of K. reniformis only in the Atlantic, and (iii) reveal the presence of a new member of Kallymenia from the Mediterranean Sea, K. ercegovicii Vergés & Le Gall, sp. nov., which is described based on distinctive morphological and molecular characters. Kallymenia ercegovicii is distinguished, using three molecular markers, from all Kallymenia species for which these sequences are available. Morphologically, the new species can be distinguished from other polycarpogonial Kallymenia by a set of characters including a deeply lobed thallus, large inner cortical cells, stellate but non-glanglionic medullary cells and non-ostiolate cystocarps surrounded by a filamentous net composed of elongated cells forming fascicles. An initial phylogeny of the genus Kallymenia was inferred from cox1 (COI), rbcL and nuclear LSU sequences. Kallymenia ercegovicii was resolved with full support within the same lineage as K. reniformis (the generitype), K. feldmannii and K. patens, whereas K. lacerata and K. requienii were only distantly related.  相似文献

The optical rotatory dispersion of copolymers of O-carbobenzoxy-L -tyrosine and benzyl L (or D )-glutamate as well as benzyl L -aspartate, dissolved in nonpolar solvent, has been studied. Moffitt's equation permits the determination of b0 coefficients whose variation, with varying composition in amino acid residues, suggests that the molecules of poly-O-carbobenzoxy-L -tyrosine have a helical structure similar to that of poly-(benzyl L -glutamate). Results obtained from infrared spectroscopy and x-ray diffraction show that the copolymers possess a helical conformation in the solid state, even when they are very rich in carbobenzoxy-L -tyrosine residues. The value of the b0, coefficient for poly-O-carbobenzoxy-L -tyrosine may be explained by a regular stacking of the chromophore groups around the helical backbone. The ordering of the molecules of this polymer in a purely helical structure seems favored by the insertion of a small number of foreign residues in the polypeptide chain.  相似文献

A molecular survey of red algae collected by technical divers and submersibles from 90 m in the mesophotic zone off the coast of Bermuda revealed three species assignable to the Kallymeniaceae. Two of the species are representative of recently described genera centered in the western Pacific in Australia and New Zealand, Austrokallymenia and Psaromenia and the third from the Mediterranean Sea and the eastern Atlantic, Nothokallymenia. A phylogenetic analysis of concatenated mitochondrial (COI‐5P) and chloroplast (rbcL) genes, as well as morphological characteristics, revealed that two are shown to be new species with distant closest relatives (N. erosa and Psaromenia septentrionalis), while the third represents a deep water western Atlantic species now moved to an Australasian genus (A. westii).  相似文献

A new species of red alga, Sebdenia cerebriformis N'Yeurt et Payri sp. nov. (Sebdeniaceae, Sebdeniales), is described from various localities in the south and western Pacific including Fiji, New Caledonia, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, and Indonesia (Java Sea). The new species is characterized by a ruffled thallus with multiple perennial stipitate holdfasts, large conspicuous inner cortical stellate cells, and a lax filamentous medulla.  相似文献

The bryophytes collected by Giuseppe Raddi during his travels in Brazil (1817–1818) housed at Pisa (PI) and Firenze (FI) herbaria were critically studied. The present study provides information about types, nomenclature, taxonomy and geographical distribution for 51 species. One comb. nov. (Taxilejeunea serpyllifolioides (Raddi) Costa (basionym: Jungermannia serpillifolioides Raddi 1822) and two new synonyms (Jungermannia serpillifolioides Raddi 1822 = Taxilejeunea isocalycina (Nees) Steph. 1914; Anthoceros brasiliensis Raddi 1818 = Dendroceros crispus (Sw.) A new foliose red alga, common subtidally from British Columbia to the Aleutian Islands, is described and given the name Hommersandia maximicarpa. The lobed perennial thallus, which can reach a height of 23 cm, is distinguished by its vegetative structure and by its unique pattern of nonprocarpic carposporophyte development. In transverse section, the blades consist of a narrow filamentous medullary layer sandwiched on either side by large ellipsoidal subcortical cells and a thin outer cortex. The monocarpogonial branch and auxiliary cell systems of the female plants are typical of many members of the Kallymeniaceae. However, after the carpogonialfusion cell forms, a distinctive developmental pattern begins. The connecting filaments radiate outward into the surrounding tissue, branch abundantly, and become septate. They then contact, in addition to auxiliary cells, many small moniliform accessory branches. These branches appear to act as initiation points for the gonimoblast filaments. The large diffuse carposporophytes produced are unknown in any other member of the Cryptonemiales. The vegetative and reproductive anatomy of Hommersandia is compared to other Kallymeniaceae, and similar patterns of postfertilization development are examined in the Rhodophyta.  相似文献

Résumé Nous avons étudiés les effets toxiques de l'accumulation de l'étain et du plomb sur les G. pulex d'eau douce et les G. locusta (Crustacés: Amphipodes) marin.Les expériences ont été faites dans des solutions de métaux d'eau douce et d'eau marine. Les concentrations de métal utilisées sont de 10 ppm, de 1 ppm et de 0.1 ppm. Les résultats nous ont montrés que les solutions de plomb sont plus toxique que les solutions de l'étain et les G. locusta sont plus sensibles que les G. pulex.Les valeurs de l'accumulation de métal ont été determinées par spectrographie des rayons X. Pour les deux espèces, une grande accumulation d'étain a été rencontrée dans le système digestif, la cuticule et l'hemolymphe et une accumulation de plomb a été rencontré dans le système digestif et la cuticule.
The effects of tin (SnCl4.5H2O) and lead [Pb(NO3)2] on Gammarus pulex (L.) and Gammarus locusta (L.) have been studied. Three differents solutions (10 ppm, 1 ppm, 0.1 ppm) were applied for two metals. Lead was found to be more toxic than tin. The residues of metals in the organes and tissues of two species were determined by X ray spectrophotometry.

Distribution of hydrocarbons from the “Amoco Cadiz” oil spill in sublittoral sediments, north of Brittany. The quantitative distribution of hydrocarbons in the sublittoral sediments, north of Brittany (France), was followed and recorded for the first year after the spill (March, 1978). Following preliminary observations in spring of 1978, 250 stations were sampled in August from the Bay of Lannion to Portsall at water depths down to 70 m. Subsequently, 40 stations were studied at three-month intervals. During the summer of 1978, the widest polluted sublittoral areas were localised in the Bays of Morlaix and Lannion down to depths of about 30 m and even deeper in some places. In these two bays, the distribution of hydrocarbons showed: (1) deposition near the coasts hit by the slicks, mostly after adsorption by fine sedimentary particles; (2) redistribution of particulate and adsorbed oil towards low hydrodynamic energy areas favourable to deposition of fine particles. In autumn and winter, the coarse sediments became progressively less polluted. Oil, often in significant quantities, remained or was reconcentrated in the fine sediments of the inner bay parts. Consequently, the hydrodynamic structure ot the area (waves, tidal currents) has played an important role in the deposition and redistribution of the hydrocarbons on sublittoral bottoms.   相似文献

Traditional studies suggest that the Kallymeniaceae can be divided into two major groups, a nonprocarpic Kallymenia group, in which carposporophyte formation involves an auxiliary cell branch system separate from the carpogonial branch system, and a procarpic Callophyllis group, in which the carpogonial branch system gives rise to the carposporophyte directly after fertilization. Based on our phylogenetic studies and unpublished observations, the two groups each contain both procarpic and nonprocarpic genera. Here, we describe a new method of reproductive development in Callophyllis concepcionensis Arakaki, Alveal et Ramírez from Chile. The carpogonial branch system consists of a supporting cell bearing both a three‐celled carpogonial branch with trichogyne and two‐lobed “subsidiary” cells. After fertilization, large numbers of secondary subcortical and medullary cells are produced. Lobes of the carpogonial branch system cut off connecting cells containing enlarged, presumably diploid nuclei that fuse with these secondary vegetative cells and deposit their nuclei. Derivative enlarged nuclei are transferred from one vegetative cell to another, which ultimately cut off gonimoblast initials that form filaments that surround the central primary medullary cells and produce carposporangia. The repeated involvement of vegetative cells in gonimoblast formation is a new observation, not only in Callophyllis, but in red algae generally. These results call for a revised classification of the Kallymeniaceae based on new morphological and molecular studies.  相似文献

Illus. 1961.—Specimens of Glaphyrymenia pustulosa, a red alga from Australia that has seldom been found, were collected recently. The specimens were examined particularly with respect to development of the vegetative tissues and the formation of the female reproductive apparatus and gonimoblast. The vegetative structure is primitive in the Kallymeniaceae and structural characteristics are present that are similar to the Cryptonemiaceae and Dumontiaceae. The female reproductive system has a monocarpogonial carpogonial branch apparatus and an auxiliary cell that is borne on a separate system that does not have a carpogonial branch. After fertilization, stages in the development of the gonimoblast are similar to those of Kallymenia and Pugelia.  相似文献

Résumé Les cestodes récoltés en Côte d'Ivoire chez deux ordres d'oiseaux, les Coraciiformes et les Piciformes, sont présentés. Un nouveau genre, Thaumasiolepis (Hymenolepididae, Hymenolepidinae), est créé et discuté. Il comprend des cestodes récoltés chez différentes espèces de Capitonidae et caractérisés par des crochets rostraux spiniformes tout à fait originaux. L'espèce T. microarmata est créée pour ce matériel. D'autre part deux nouveaux Raillietina de Picidae, R. (S.) campetherae et R. (P.) yapoensis sont décrits. R. (S.) campetherae est la première espèce de ce sous genre trouvée chez les Piciformes. Biuterina meropina macrancistrota est trouvé chez Merops albicollis. Ce taxon est élevé au rang d'espèce et devient par conséquent B. macrancistrota Fuhrmann, 1908. Skrjabinoporus merops (Woodland, 1928) Spassky & Borgarenko, 1960 est retrouvé. Cette espèce peu commune est redécrite et sa position parmi les Metadilepididae confirmée. Enfin, Raillietina cf (P.) bargetzii Mahon, 1954 est signalé chez Gymnobucco calvus.
Cestodes collected in the two bird orders, the Coraciiformes and the Piciformes, in the Ivory Coast are presented. The new genus Thaumasiolepis (Hymenolepididae, Hymenolepidinae) is created and discussed. It includes cestodes collected in two species of the Capitonidae. Its main characteristic is the presence of very unusual spiniform hooks. The species T. microarmata is created for this material. We also describe two new species of Raillietina parasitising the Picidae, R. (P.) yapoensis and R. (S.) campetherae, the latter being the first species of this subgenus recorded from the Piciformes. In addition, Biuterina meropina macrancistrota has been found in Merops albicollis. We recognize a full specific status for this taxon which becomes B. macrancistrota Fuhrmann, 1908. Skrjabinoporus merops (Woodland, 1928) Spassky & Borgarenko, 1960 has been rediscovered. This rare species is redescribed and its position among the Metadilepididae is confirmed. Finally, Raillietina cf (P.) bargetzii Mahon, 1954 is recorded from Gymnobucco calvus.
