唾液的增加加速了含羧甲基壳聚糖口香糖的抗菌效果   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
目的:本论文采用了含羧甲基壳聚糖的口香糖,咀嚼这种口香糖的机械效果加速了其对口腔细菌的抑制作用,还比较口腔嗽洗液和咀嚼口香糖的抗菌效果,证明了通过咀嚼这种口香糖加速了唾液的分泌.方法:从青岛大学口腔科的老师和学生中选取了12名健康的受试者.在测试前取受试者的唾液测试细菌含量.在测试口香糖的试验中,受试者咀嚼5分钟口香糖然后休息5分钟.在测试口腔嗽洗液时,受试者用10ml嗽洗液漱口30秒后,休息9分30秒.同一天中这些测试步骤在50分钟内连续不断的进行了5次.5次测试后分别在0、30和60min收集被试者的唾液测试细菌含量.在测试唾液分泌的试验中,受试者每天咀嚼三次口香糖持续两天.结果:与使用口腔嗽洗液相比,咀嚼含羧甲基壳聚糖口香糖的受试者,在三个取样时间内口腔细菌的含量基本都明显减少,但是在60分钟的取样时间结果有点差异.咀嚼含羧甲基壳聚糖的口香糖明显提高了唾液的分泌量.结论:咀嚼含羧甲基壳聚糖的口香糖具有明显的抗菌效果.目前的研究结果强有力的证明了:使用像壳聚糖以及其衍生物这样的天然物质,对我们的口腔健康以及生活质量都有很大的帮助.  相似文献

Aims: To develop and assess a simple test for evaluating the mastication of visco‐elastic foods and prosthodontic success subsequent to treatment of older people. Method: The weight lost from chewing gum during mastication tests and the saliva secreted is weighed. The percentage of the original gum weight that is chewed out in a defined number of strokes is termed the Masticatory Effectiveness (ME) Material: Five edentate and three dentate volunteers were selected to provide a range of dental states and age. Four commercially available chewing gums of different origins and perceived hardness were tested, one without sweetener acted as a control for salivary stimulation. Intervention: Pre‐weighed samples of each gum were chewed, each for defined numbers of strokes. The saliva secreted was collected and weighed. The chewed gum was desiccated and the total weight loss of sweeteners chewed out provided an objective measure of chewing performance. Results: Weight loss showed large differences between gums, between subjects and the number of strokes. ME was significantly correlated with salivary secretion rates for two subjects. The interaction between subject and gum was statistically significant, established by an ANOVA model, the value of which is shown for multivariate studies. Differential success between gums of different thickness may provide evaluation of denture stability. Conclusions: Measuring the weight lost from gums during chewing provides a simple test of masticatory effectiveness of visco‐elastic foods. This has particular value both in functional assessment of older people and in physiological research.  相似文献

Background

Flavor perception, the integration of taste and odor, is a critical factor in eating behavior. It remains unclear how such sensory signals influence the human brain systems that execute the eating behavior.

Methods

We tested cerebral blood flow (CBF) in the frontal lobes bilaterally while subjects chewed three types of gum with different combinations of taste and odor: no taste/no odor gum (C-gum), sweet taste/no odor gum (T-gum), and sweet taste/lemon odor gum (TO-gum). Simultaneous recordings of transcranial Doppler ultrasound (TCD) and near infrared spectrometer (NIRS) were used to measure CBF during gum chewing in 25 healthy volunteers. Bilateral masseter muscle activity was also monitored.

Results

We found that subjects could discriminate the type of gum without prior information. Subjects rated the TO-gum as the most flavorful gum and the C-gum as the least flavorful. Analysis of masseter muscle activity indicated that masticatory motor output during gum chewing was not affected by taste and odor. The TCD/NIRS measurements revealed significantly higher hemodynamic signals when subjects chewed the TO-gum compared to when they chewed the C-gum and T-gum.

Conclusions

These data suggest that taste and odor can influence brain activation during chewing in sensory, cognitive, and motivational processes rather than in motor control.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to characterize the stability of KSL-W, an antimicrobial decapeptide shown to inhibit the growth of oral bacterial strains associated with caries development and plaque formation, and its potential as an antiplaque agent in a chewing gum formulation. KSL-W formulations with or without the commercial antibacterial agent cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) were prepared. The release of KSL-W from the gums was assessed in vitro using a chewing gum apparatus and in vivo by a chew-out method. A reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography method was developed for assaying KSL-W. Raw material stability and temperature and pH effects on the stability of KSL-W solutions and interactions of KSL-W with tooth-like material, hydroxyapatite discs, were investigated. KSL-W was most stable in acidic aqueous solutions and underwent rapid hydrolysis in base. It was stable to enzymatic degradation in human saliva for 1 hour but was degraded by pancreatic serine proteases. KSL-W readily adsorbed to hydroxyapatite, suggesting that it will also adsorb to the teeth when delivered to the oral cavity. The inclusion of CPC caused a large increase in the rate and extent of KSL-W released from the gums. The gum formulations displayed promising in vitro/ in vivo release profiles, wherein as much as 90% of the KSL-W was released in a sustained manner within 30 minutes in vivo. These results suggest that KSL-W possesses the stability, adsorption, and release characteristics necessary for local delivery to the oral cavity in a chewing gum formulation, there-by serving as a novel antiplaque agent. Soft chewable dosage forms are a new approach to improve the compliance of medication for special patient populations. Based on their texture, they are chewed several times before they get swallowed. A suitable dissolution method based on in vivo chewing data was developed. The method covers parts of dissolution within the oral cavity (simulation of chewing) as well as the dissolution of the swallowed bolus within the gastrointestinal tract. Chewing was simulated by the help of a steel tooth assembled to a texture analyzer and wedge gliding on an inclined plane, imitating the occlusal glide. Chewing cycles of non-brittle, elastically deformable foods were predicted by a multiple linear regression (R adj?=?0.985) using hardness, stickiness, fat/water content, and softening behavior as independent variables. Cross-validation of three sets of chewing data led to a root mean square error of prediction of 0.408 or 0.658 chewing cycles, respectively. The new method is able to distinguish between different soft chewable formulations which had been approved as similar by the dissolution method of the European Pharmacopoeia. This investigation compared the urine caffeine metabolites produced from different forms of caffeine supplementation given to runners 15 minutes before a series of 5-km running trials. Fourteen amateur competitive runners completed a series of self-paced outdoor time trials following ingestion of placebo or one of three alternate forms of caffeine supplement. Trials were randomized in a crossover design with equivalent doses of caffeine (4.0 mg.kg-1) administered 15 minutes before each trial via chewing gum, a novel dissolvable mouth strip or tablet. Runners produced a urine sample following each caffeinated trial that was tested for caffeine and its metabolites by high-performance liquid chromatography. The tablet form of caffeine produced a lower (p = 0.04) urinary ratio of the metabolite paraxanthine to caffeine compared with either gum or strip. Independently of caffeine delivery mode, subjects who metabolized a higher proportion of caffeine to paraxanthine recorded a lower (p = 0.01) perceived exertion. We demonstrate that oral swallowed caffeine administered 15 minutes before 5-km running is less metabolized compared with caffeinated products designed to be chewed or dissolved in the mouth. We suggest the metabolism of caffeine to paraxanthine has an inverse relationship with perceived exertion independently of caffeine delivery mode.  相似文献

An account is given of nest-building by captive Quaker Parrots Myiopsitta monachus. Nests were made by thatching movements, twigs being inserted into a base by a sideways movement of the head. A downward slanting sheaf was formed around an internal cavity. The lip of the nest-hollow was formed by pulling up and inserting the ends of some twigs. The distinct morphological regions of the typical tripartite pharynx found in the nematode taxon Secernentea have distinctive functions. Besides the basic functions of sucking and pumping food against the pressure in the body cavity, the pharynx of Secernentea such as rhabditids serves two additional functions restricted to two pharyngeal subunits. The corpus traps bacteria behind the stoma and at its posterior end. The newly discovered pharyngeal pocket valve helps to trap particles behind the corpus in the rhabditid Poikilolaimus oxycercus and the cephalobid Acrobeles ciliatus (both Secernentea). The grinder of the terminal bulb serves for chewing trapped bacteria. The separated sites of trapping and chewing are connected by the isthmus that transports bacteria towards the grinder. It is likely that this complex feeding structure originated step by step from a two-part pharynx comprising a propharynx and the terminal bulb as in "Plectidae" (that probably include the closest relatives of the Secernentea within the "Adenophorea"). Analysis of video sequences of feeding rhabditids and plectids provided new data to reconstruct this transformation. Within the "Plectidae" two types of grinders occur. The first type or "parietinus type" has triangular chewing plates that can bulge medially and crush food particles. When they retract, new ingested particles are drawn into the grinder. The second type with more solid chewing plates called "butterfly valves" occurs in Ceratoplectus, Plectus parvus, and Wilsonema and can be homologized with the grinder in Secernentea ("Plectidae" is a paraphyletic taxon). Because butterfly valves cannot be retracted, the evolution of such valves required the evolution of an alternative mechanism to fill the grinder with bacteria. The differentiated closing pattern of the dilated pharynx lumen in Ceratoplectus, Plectus parvus, and Wilsonema can be interpreted as the first step in the development of a functional separation of trapping bacteria and of transporting them towards the grinder, which led to the morphologically discernible units of corpus and isthmus found in the Secernentea.  相似文献

It is not widely known that incorrect use of oral bisphosphonates (BPs), such as chewing the medication, can cause oral ulcers. An 83‐year‐old woman with dementia was referred to our clinic with multiple oral ulcers. Blood and histopathological examinations were inconclusive. Further questioning revealed that the patient chewed the oral BP, resulting in oral ulceration. Patients with loss of cognitive function, such as dementia, are at risk of oral ulcers caused by incorrect use of BPs.  相似文献

Medicated chewing gums (MCGs) represent a unique platform for drug delivery. They have been defined as solid single-dose preparations, which may contain more than one active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) with base consisting primarily of gum that has to be chewed for a certain period of time. They mainly contain a tasteless masticatory gum base as the core with other minor nonmasticatory ingredients, such as flavors and sweeteners. Despite their advantages in drug delivery, MCGs remain a niche product due to the complexity of their formulation, lack of acceptable testing methods, and intricacy of their manufacturing. Few studies have been reported on their use, and most of the information on their composition and production could be found in patent search. The aim of this review is to provide an overview of gum composition, manufacturing process, and characterization. Due to the scarcity of studies concerning the evaluation of the mechanical properties of MCGs, greater emphasis was placed on the available performance tests and procedures for the estimation of their mechanical and textural properties. While very few tests have been recommended by the official pharmacopeias, several tests have been suggested for assessing the mechanical properties of MCGs in vitro. Properties, such as chewiness, elasticity, and firmness, of chewing gums during mastication are imperative quality attributes that have been found to strongly correlate with gum composition and mouth feel.  相似文献

Acidogenic bacteria metabolizing sorbitol were isolated and identified from dental plaque of twenty nine volunteers, claiming to be users (sixteen) and non-users (thirteen) of sorbitol-containing chewing gum and candy. Sixty bacterial strains were isolated, using improved selective agar media. The taxonomy of twenty strains, all Gram-positive cocci, was determined employing a customized BBL MinitekR system and other biochemical reactions. The majority of these strains represented Streptococcus sanguis and Streptococcus acidominimus. Although sorbitol-metabolizing bacteria were found in plaque specimens of most persons tested, a larger number of acidogenic sorbitol degrading bacteria was detected in the plaque of the volunteer group claiming to use sorbitol-containing sweets. Bacteriological results indicate that frequent consumption of sorbitol-containing products will lead to a shift in oral ecology, numerically favouring sorbitol-metabolizing bacteria. These sorbitol adapted bacteria appear to be as acidogenic as Streptococcus mutans in the presence of ordinary sugars.  相似文献

目的为揭示健康人咀嚼槟榔前后的菌群结构及其多样性,分析咀嚼槟榔前、咀嚼5 min后和咀嚼30min后口腔内菌群结构变化以及多样性特征。方法通过收集8个人咀嚼槟榔前后唾液,用宏基因组DNA进行高通量测序。结果咀嚼槟榔5min后,链球菌属(Streptococcus)、普雷沃菌_7属(Prevotella_7)、韦荣球菌属(Veillonella)、纤毛菌属(Leptotrichia)、嗜血杆菌属(Haemophilus)、拟普雷沃菌属(Alloprevotella)、普雷沃菌属(Prevotella)、卟啉单胞菌属(Porphyromonas)、梅毒螺旋体_2(Treponema_2)、普雷沃菌_6属(Prevotella_6)和兼性双球菌属(Gemella)较咀嚼前相对丰度明显下降,分别下降了16.57%、12.94%、9.38%、23.08%、54.55%、52.63%、30.00%、42.86%、30.00%、16.67%和42.86%,纤毛菌属(Leptotrichia)降幅最大。而咀嚼30min后,纤毛菌属(Leptotrichia)、嗜血杆菌属(Haemophilus)、拟普雷沃菌属(Alloprevotella)、卟啉单胞菌属(Porphyromonas)、梅毒螺旋体_2(Treponema_2)和罗思菌属(Rothia)的相对丰度较咀嚼5 min后均增大。结论链球菌属(Streptococcus)、韦荣球菌属(Veillonella)作为主要变化的菌属,在咀嚼槟榔的过程中,对口腔产生一定的作用,可能是口腔龋齿等牙周疾病的直接或间接影响因子。  相似文献

Adequate salivary flow is important for patient comfort and maintenance of oral health. Xerostomia, or dry mouth, is a common clinical complaint. Masticatory and gustatory activity can stimulate salivary flow from functional salivary tissue and the use of sugarless mints and gums have been recommended to individuals who complain of xerostomia, but there are minimum clinical data. A clinical study assessing the effect on salivary flow rates and dental plaque pH of a sorbitol-sweetened chewing gum in subjects with the complaint of xerostomia was conducted. The chewing of the gum in this present study stimulated salivary flow in the subjects with xerostomia. Statistically significant stimulated whole mouth and parotid salivary flow rate increases were found when compared to unstimulated whole mouth and parotid salivary flow rates. Chewing of the sorbitol-sweetened gum also effectively reduced the drop in pH seen following the exposure to a fermentable carbohydrate. The findings of this present study indicate that chewing of a sorbitol-sweetened gum may be of benefit to patients with the complaint of xerostomia.  相似文献

An attempt was made to formulate medicated chewing gum to prevent motion sickness using natural gum base for faster onset of action and easy administration, anywhere and anytime, without access to water. To avoid the discard issue of gum cud, natural gum base of Triticum aestivum (wheat grain) was explored because of its biodegradable and biocompatible nature and easy availability. Prolamin, extracted from wheat, showed good chewing capacity, elasticity, high water retention capacity, antifungal activity, and compatibility with the drug. Formulations were prepared based on a two-factor and three-level factorial design. Amount of calcium carbonate (texturizer) and gum base were selected as independent variables. Elasticity and drug release were considered as the dependent variables. All batches were evaluated for the content uniformity, elasticity study, texture study, in vitro drug release study, and chewiness study. Results revealed that medicated chewing gum containing 80 mg of calcium carbonate and 500 mg of gum base showed good elasticity and more than 90% drug release within 16 min. Thus, this study suggested that both good elasticity and chew ability and abundant availability of wheat grain can act as a potential gum base for medicated chewing gum.KEY WORDS: biodegradable gum, gum base, medicated chewing gum, plasticizer, wheat prolamin  相似文献

Stress is prevalent in human life and threatens both physical and mental health; stress coping is thus of adaptive value for individual''s survival and well-being. Although there has been extensive research on how the neural and physiological systems respond to stressful stimulation, relatively little is known about how the brain dynamically copes with stress evoked by this stimulation. Here we investigated how stress is relieved by a popular coping behavior, namely, gum chewing. In an fMRI study, we used loud noise as an acute stressor and asked participants to rate their feeling of stress in gum-chewing and no-chewing conditions. The participants generally felt more stressful when hearing noise, but less so when they were simultaneously chewing gum. The bilateral superior temporal sulcus (STS) and the left anterior insula (AI) were activated by noise, and their activations showed a positive correlation with the self-reported feeling of stress. Critically, gum chewing significantly reduced the noise-induced activation in these areas. Psychophysiological interaction (PPI) analysis showed that the functional connectivity between the left AI and the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex (dACC) was increased by noise to a lesser extent when the participants were chewing gum than when not chewing gum. Dynamic causality modeling (DCM) demonstrated that gum chewing inhibited the connectivity from the STS to the left AI. These findings demonstrate that gum chewing relieves stress by attenuating the sensory processing of external stressor and by inhibiting the propagation of stress-related information in the brain stress network.  相似文献

Abstract

Nine right-handed normal subjects were recruited for this study. We compared the cortical activation during execution of hand movements (right finger flexion–extension) with that during execution of hand movements while chewing gum (right side chewing). We found that execution of hand movements while chewing gum induced less activation in the contralateral SM1 than hand movements alone. Based on our findings, it appears chewing gum during execution of hand movements enhanced the efficiency of hand movements.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate sensitivity disorders in the oral cavity related to the presence of Mycobacterium leprae in the saliva of treatment-naïve patients with leprosy in the state of Amazonas, Brazil. A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 45 subjects with leprosy. The subjects were interviewed to evaluate the sensitivity of the oral cavity. For the detection of M. leprae, saliva and slit-skin smear samples were collected. The samples were analysed using a bacteriological index (BI) protocol and the real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). The results indicated that 15 of the 45 (33.3%) subjects with leprosy showed decreased oral sensitivity, which confirmed the importance of the oral cavity sensitivity evaluation. There was not a direct relationship between the presence of M. leprae in saliva and changes in oral sensitivity. Positive saliva qPCR results from six (31.6%) of 19 paucibacillary (PB) patients suggested the possibility of a new site for sample collection. Positive results using these diagnostic techniques (BI, slit-skin smear and saliva qPCR) increased to 55.5%, thus opening the possibility of combining these different techniques to increase the rate of positive diagnoses, especially in PB patients.  相似文献

Objective: This study aimed at describing the masticatory handicap of wearing removable dentures measured by some masticatory tests and the intake of hard and soft foods. Materials and methods: The subjects were participants in a comprehensive health examination of 67–68‐year‐old men living in Malmö, Sweden. Four hundred eighty‐three men took part in a clinical oral examination which recorded the number of teeth and removable dentures. One hundred and one had complete dentures in both jaws and 131 had removable partial dentures in different combinations. Masticatory tests used almonds to record the number of stokes to the first swallow, and two‐coloured chewing gums for recording bolus kneading and shaping. A nutritionist paid a home visit to assess dietary habits including the consumption of hard and soft foods. The data could be split into groups of different tooth and denture situations which were large enough to enable statistical analysis to be carried out. The results of a regression analysis of the group with different numbers of natural teeth (NT) and no removable dentures could be used as a reference for correlation with the masticatory capacity of removable denture wearers. Results: Number of strokes to the first swallow revealed no masticatory limitations of wearing removable dentures, while chewing gum colour‐mixing and shaping revealed more differentiated impairments equivalent to the function of five to 16 teeth in a remaining natural dentition. Hard food intake for the removable denture groups was comparable to 17–19 NT. Soft food intake was not influenced by denture wearing. In a ranking of oral conditions, those with more than 24 NT had the highest test values for all tests, and those with complete sets of dentures the lowest except for the number of strokes to the first swallow of an almond. Conclusion: Removable denture wearing can be regarded as a handicap when measured with objective masticatory tests using chewing gum and the intake of hard foods. The number of chewing strokes to the first swallow of an almond and the intake of soft foods is not affected by the wearing of removable dentures.  相似文献

目的观察牙面彻底清洁后24 h内牙面上定植的变异链球菌、伴放线放线杆菌和总微生物的数量变化。方法 8名健康成人接受全口洁治后,分别于6、12和24 h收集龈上菌斑,提取菌斑内细菌的基因组DNA。设计变异链球菌、伴放线放线杆菌和总菌特异性引物,获得目的基因,克隆于大肠埃希菌DH5α感受态细胞,测序后获得质粒标准品。将样本和梯度稀释的质粒标准品进行SYBR Green I实时荧光定量PCR检测,绘制标准曲线,确定样本中变异链球菌、伴放线放线杆菌和总菌DNA拷贝数。结果牙面彻底清洁6 h后即有大量变异链球菌定植,变异链球菌拷贝数占总菌的0.32%,24 h后增加到0.67%。12 h时定植的变异链球菌拷贝数高于6 h,差异有统计学意义(P=0.031),24 h后继续增加(P=0.024)。12 h时定植的总菌拷贝数高于6 h,差异有统计学意义(P=0.004),24 h后继续增加(P=0.042)。牙菌斑中伴放线放线杆菌的拷贝数低于103。结论早期牙菌斑中12 h定植的变异链球菌和总菌数量高于6 h,且24 h内不断增加,仅有少量伴放线放线杆菌定植。  相似文献

Poor oral health has been associated with several chronic and systemic disease. Currently, the most common method of teeth cleaning is the use of a toothbrush together with dentifrices. However, natural chewing stick such as S. persica miswak is still used in many developing countries due to their low cost and availability. The present review aims to summarize the evidences on effectiveness of miswak in promoting oral health. The search was performed using Medline via Ebscohost, Scopus and Google Scholar database to obtain relevant articles published between 2010 to May 2020 using the following set of keywords 1) Miswak OR Salvadora OR persica AND 2) dental OR caries OR plaque OR oral OR orthodontics. Isolated microbial inhibition studies were excluded from the review due to its well-established wealth of literature. Miswak was administered as ten different forms, namely mouthwash, toothpaste, chewing stick, essential oil, aqueous extract, ethanol extract, probiotic spray, dental varnish, dental cement or chewing gum. All studies reported a positive effect of miswak as an anti-plaque, anti-gingivitis, anti-cariogenic, promotion of gingival wound healing, whitening properties, orthodontic chain preservation, and biocompatibility with oral cells. Miswak in its different forms demonstrated positive effect towards oral health maintenance and management.  相似文献
