For three consecutive years the content of natural stimulators and inhibitors was observed in leaves and shoots of peach trees. Research was directed to the question of development of flower buds. The substances under study were isolated from the acidic fraction of ether extracts by means of paper chromatography and their concentration was determined by biological test. The activities of substances which either stimulate or inhibit the growth of oat coleoptiles, were added up. The curve expressing the content of stimulators in shoots in relation to the fresh weight showed its maximum in the period of full growth of shoots (15 June–15 July according to the fluctuating vegetative conditions) and it showed a decreasing tendency at the end of the season. The decline of the curve showing the content of inhibitors is of similar direction but less steep. The trend of substances under study is the same in leaves as in shoots, but their quantity is lower. Stimulation and inhibition effects in individual sampling intervals were added up to make a common curve which seems to express the combined action of stimulators and inhibitors in the plant, which determines its growth pattern.  相似文献

A study has been made of the level of naturally-occurring growth substances and inhibitors in acid-soluble fraction of peach leaves and shoots using paper chromatography and bioassay methods. The content of substances which stimulate growth ofAvena coleoptile sections calculated on a fresh weight basis can be expressed by a one-peak curve with a maximum at 10 a.m. The shoots were higher in growth substances than leaves in all periods of time examined. The extract contained two substances which significantly stimulated the growth of coleoptile (accelerator-2 and-3). High inhibition was found in the area of inhibitor-β and to a lesser extent in the area of inhibitor-α. The changes in the concentration of inhibitors were different in leaves and shoots.  相似文献

In experiments from 1966–1968 a comparison was performed concerning the level of endogenous stimulators and inhibitors in leaves and shoots of peaches decapitated in three different times and in controls. For the determination of these substances a biological test was employed after separation of the acid fraction of ethyl ether extracts by means of paper chromatography. Mathematical addition of total stimulations and inhibitions gave a new value, called “growth disposition” by the authors. Its graphical demonstration gives a simple curve which documents the growth rhythm of control plants as well as the response of plants to the time-regulated decapitation. In the case of shoots this response has always been positive,i.e. at all periods of sampling for analyses the growth disposition with decapitated plants was higher in comparison with controls.  相似文献

Induced defences to herbivory are physical, nutritional, and allelochemical traits that change in plants following damage or stress, and that reduce the performance and/or preference of herbivores. The aim of this study was to verify the occurrence and effect of induced responses in Bauhinia brevipes (Vog.) (Leguminosae) which defend it against herbivores, through the manipulation of its leaves, and their effects on herbivore foraging behaviour. We selected 15 plants in the field, and three shoots per plant were subjected to one of three treatments: (1) damaged shoots (simulation of the main types of foliar herbivory and insect exclusion); (2) damaged control shoots (insect exclusion); and (3) control shoots (not manipulated). Water and nitrogen content, tannin concentration, levels of herbivory, and shoot growth rates were compared among treatments. Leaf quality varied among treatments. Damaged leaves showed higher tannin concentration, and lower water and nitrogen content compared to undamaged leaves. On the other hand, they experienced higher rates of herbivory than leaves on control shoots. Moreover, shoots that were experimentally induced showed a higher increase in final shoot length. These results suggest that simulated herbivory on B. brevipes reduced the nutritional quality of its leaves and increased the amount of secondary compounds, therefore altering insect herbivore attack and increasing shoot performance.  相似文献

The pre-nesting feeding ecology of Pink-footed Geese Anser brachyrhynchus was studied in southern Iceland in April and May 1989–1992. Extensive surveys showed that prior to movement to their nesting areas in the interior, Pink-footed Geese fed mainly on intensively managed grasslands of the southern lowlands. Faecal analysis showed that geese feeding in hayfields foraged almost exclusively on the most commonly reseeded species, Timothy grass Phleum pratense , which made up the majority (41% by number of green shoots) of new growth in studied hayfields. Dropping counts, as an indicator of goose use, were highly significantly correlated in all years with density of growing Phleum shoots in individual field units. Geese showed a response in feeding patterns to changes in Phleum density as a result of reseeding patterns. Analysis of forage quality in 1991 showed that Phleum shoots had a higher protein content than all other grasses present in hayfields, with the exception of Deschampsia caespitosa. The latter species showed similar levels of protein, but its tussocky nature precluded effective grazing by the geese. Phleum was similar in fibre content to other common grasses. Based on removal of tagged plants, geese grazed predominantly on the youngest leaves of Phleum , which also had higher protein content and lower fibre than older leaves and attached dead leaves, which were rarely taken by geese. Geese grazed shorter length classes of youngest leaves, which showed higher protein content than longer, older terminal leaves. Recently created grassland habitat has increased the opportunities for female geese to supplement their reserves during the crucial prelude to clutch initiation by selecting the highest quality plant species and the most nutritious parts of that forage.  相似文献

用不同化合物从根部喂养麦幼苗,测定其根叶中草酸含量的变化。结果表明:异柠檬酸、抗坏血酸及其前体物均可不同程度地降低荞麦根叶中草酸含量;而乙醇酸与乙醛酸则显著提高其草酸含量,表明荞麦叶片草酸合成主要来自乙醇酸途径,而非来自抗坏血酸等途径。水培条件下,以铵态氮或尿素等作唯一氮源时,荞麦中草酸含量远低于以硝态氮培养的;将谷氨酸或丝氨酸加到含硝态氮培养液中也能显著降低其草酸含量,不同氮素影响荞麦草酸含量可能与乙醇酸途径有关。  相似文献

Summary The uptake of Mn and B by barley plants was studied in a 5-week period in growth chambers. Fluorescent light was provided with an intensity of 3200 foot-candles in a 12-hour day length and the entire plants were grown at temperatures of 10°, 15°, or 20°C. The root medium consisted of a base nutrient solution in which Mn or B was added in the following concentrations: 0, 0.1, 0.5, 2.0, and 5.0 ppm. Five plants were grown in volumes of 20 liters of solution. At the end of the growth period the shoots and roots were analyzed for Mn and B. The Mn content of the roots increased with temperature and with the Mn concentration of the external solution while the B content remained virtually static regardless of temperature or solution concentration. The shoots were divided into young, mature, and old leaves. The Mn and B content of the old leaves showed increases which varied both with temperature and concentration. Similar results were obtained with young and mature leaves. The failure of B to accumulate in the roots was discussed. It was suggested that boric acid, with a very low degree of dissociation, is present largely in a molecular form and does not participate in the customary metabolic activity connected with ion uptake and accumulation in roots.  相似文献

The amount of endogenous growth substances in stem, flowers and leaves of rose plants grown under different temperature and light conditions has been determined. It appeared to be two main growth promoting factors in the acidic fraction of the ether extract. One of them is assumed to be an auxin, probably indol-3yl-acetic acid (IAA); the other is not identified. The level of auxin was much higher in extracts from shoots grown at high temperature than in shoots grown at low temperature. Increasing light intensity also seemed to increase the auxin content of the shoots. Shoots which developed after a high cut back of the rose stem had a higher auxin content than shoots which developed after a low cut back. These findings are discussed in relation to the effect of temperature, light intensity and cut back practise on blind shoot formation in roses. The result of these investigations strongly indicate that abortion in roses is promoted by a low auxin level in the shoots.  相似文献

以玉米(Zea mays)品种‘豫玉-22’为材料,采用营养液培养方法,研究了低铁和正常供铁条件下供应不同形态氮素对玉米苗期生长及体内铁分布的影响。结果表明:(1)与低铁介质相比,常铁介质增加了各氮素处理玉米幼苗的株高、地上部干重、全株干重,降低了根冠比,其中硝态氮处理表现得尤其突出;与供应硝态氮(NO3--N)相比,增施铵态氮(1/2 NO3--N 1/2 NH4 -N,NH4 -N)能明显促进低铁介质中玉米生长,但在常铁介质下作用不明显。(2)相比于低铁介质,正常供铁显著提高了相应处理玉米新叶叶绿素含量及净光合速率;2种供铁介质中,NH4 -N处理的新叶叶绿素含量以及净光合速率均高于其它氮素处理。(3)相比于低铁介质,正常供铁处理总体上增加了玉米各部分活性铁含量和全铁含量,对NO3--N处理的新叶活性铁含量增加尤其明显;2种供铁介质中,NH4 -N均有利于提高新叶活性铁含量和植株地上部全铁含量。(4)玉米新叶活性铁含量不仅与其叶绿素含量显著正相关(r=0.979**),也与叶片净光合速率显著正相关(r=0.950**)。研究发现,供铁状况显著影响玉米新叶的叶绿素含量及其净光合速率且与供氮形态存在互作;供应铵态氮有利于提高缺铁条件下玉米新叶活性铁含量,增强玉米植株的光合能力,进而促进其正常生长。  相似文献

Gibberellin-like substances and an auxin similar to IAA weredetected by bioassays in extracts of flowers of Chrysanthemummorifolium. The activity of these substances was shown to reacha maximum early in the development of the flower when its relativegrowth-rate was at a maximum, and then to decline with the relativegrowth-rate. The leaves of lateral flowering shoots were found to containgibberellins similar to those detected in the flowers whilea different gibberellin, which appeared to decrease in activitywith the age of the shoot, was detected in the stem. An auxinsimilar to indol-3yl-acetic acid (IAA) was also detected inthese stems. Growth-promoting substances were not detected inthe old stems and leaves from the main shoot. Gas-liquid chromatographyrevealed the presence of a number of additional gibberellinsin the flowers. The chemical nature of the growth substances is discussed inrelation to their biological and chromatographic behaviour.  相似文献

以章丘大葱为试验材料,从形态组织学及生理生化等方面探讨了大葱试管苗玻璃化发生的可能机理。结果表明,玻璃苗形态组织结构与正常苗有很大差异,玻璃苗组织含水量增加,过氧化物酶(POD)活性增强,叶绿素总量、叶绿素a、叶绿素b、过氧化氢酶(CAT)的活性、可溶性蛋白含量均降低。玻璃苗酯酶同工酶谱带与正常苗相比,增加了一条带,同时缺少了两条带;可溶性蛋白电泳分析表明,玻璃苗与正常苗间也存在明显差异。可见,当外界环境条件不适宜植物生长需要时,植物体在基因表达水平上将会受到影响,表达产物的差异可引起生理代谢功能上的紊乱,从而导致形态结构的畸型,进而产生玻璃化苗。  相似文献

Excised shoot apices, leaves and internodes from shoots of apple trees (Malus×domestica) give off gibberellins by diffusion on agar. A methanol extract of the agar was prepared, the extract separated on thin layer plates, and the gibberellin activity estimated by means of Rumex and lettuce hypocotyl bioassays. The largest amounts of gibberellin are found in diffusates from the shoot apex, the two upper leaves and the two upper internodes. Several promotive fractions are found on the chromatograms as well as growth inhibitors. Removal of young leaves retards elongation of the internodes. Probably gibberellins produced in young leaves exercise some control over this process. The growth regulators Alar and CCC also retard internode elongation. Diffusates from shoots treated with these substances were also examined. Preliminary results suggest that the amount of diffusible gibberellins from treated shoots is not reduced.  相似文献

The content of endogenous cytokinin-like substances and the release of ethylene were determined in leaves of different insertion of sunflower plants during their ontogeny. The content of cytokinin-like substances was highest in the leaves on the middle part of the stem (that is in leaves just before full expansion), with a decrease occurring both towards the base and the apex of the stem, when followed at four growth phases (vegetative plants, plants with inflorescence diameter up to 0.5 cm, plants with inflorescence diameter up to 3 cm, and plants in flower). Changes in the content of cytokinin-like substances during the ontogeny of the leaf also corresponded to this pattern. Data obtained with the leaf at the third node from the basis of the stem showed that the level of cytokinin-like substances first sharply increased, and then after reaching maximal value (at the time when leaf blade area reached approximately 70 % of the final value) slowly and continuously decreased. The highest amount of ethylene released from the leaves was recorded in basal leaves and then also in apical leaves, whereas the leaves with the largest blade area situated at the central part of the stem released the lowest amount of ethylene. This pattern was repeatedly found at all four selected growth phases of sunflower plants.  相似文献

Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) was grown in pots with brown loess soil and highly soluble amorphous silicon dioxide as the source of monosilicic acid to examine its influence on plant growth and adaptive potential under optimal soil watering and flooding. The adaptive potential of plants was estimated by the concentration of the thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARs) as well as superoxide dismutase (SOD), guaiacol peroxidase (GPX) and ascorbate peroxidase (AsP) activities. Application of amorphous silica to the soil increased the Si content in barley shoots and roots and stimulated their growth and biomass production under optimal soil watering. Soil flooding suppressed the growth both of the (−Si)- and (+Si)-plants. The intensity of oxidative destruction estimated by the concentration of TBARs was lower in the roots and leaves of the (+Si)-plants. Soil flooding induced SOD activity in the roots and in the leaves of the (−Si;+flooding) and (+Si;+flooding)-plants, but no significant differences were observed due to the Si treatment. GPX activity in the roots of (+Si)-plants was higher than in the (−Si)-ones under optimal soil watering, but under soil flooding no differences between (+Si)- and (−Si)-treatments were observed. AsP activity was not influenced by Si treatment neither under optimal soil watering nor under flooding. Thus, application of Si stimulates growth processes of barley shoots and roots under optimal soil watering and decreases intensity of oxidative destruction under soil flooding without significant changes in the activities of antioxidant enzymes.  相似文献

The effects of different growth conditions (ventilated and closed vessels, medium with 0, 15 and 30 g dm−3 sucrose) during proliferation of donor quince (Cydonia oblonga Mill.) shoots (stage I) on net photosynthetic rate and soluble sugars content were evaluated. In order to assess the influence of these physiological parameters on morphogenesis, leaf explants harvested from donor shoots were induced to form somatic embryos and adventitious roots under ventilated and closed Petri dishes (stage II). Natural ventilation and low sucrose contents (0–15 g dm−3) promoted the photosynthetic rate of quince shoots whereas biomass accumulation was the highest in those shoots cultured with 30 g dm−3 sucrose in both vessel types and 15 g dm−3 sucrose under natural ventilation. Increasing sucrose content in the medium induced greater accumulation of sucrose in leaf tissues of donor shoots. The content of reducing sugars was higher than that of sucrose, and it appeared to be higher in shoots cultured under natural ventilation compared to those in closed vessels. Somatic embryogenesis and root regeneration were influenced by stage I and II treatments. A significant correlation between sucrose content in the leaves of donor shoots and the number of somatic embryos regenerated was found, suggesting that identification of biochemical and physiological characteristics of donor shoots associated with increased regeneration ability might be helpful for improving morphogenesis in plant tissue culture.  相似文献

Changes in DNA content of bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) primaryleaves after decapitation were investigated. When apical budswere removed at 11 d, DNA content per leaf increased by about20% at 15 d and then decreased in parallel with the controls.The RNA and chlorophyll contents, fresh weight, and leaf areaexpressed on a single leaf basis changed in the same manneras the DNA content in response to decapitation. But when bothapical and lateral buds were removed, all these values continuedincreasing during the test period. Thus, growing lateral budsand apical buds have the same effect on the DNA change in primaryleaves as that due to ageing of the leaves. Cell number perleaf was not increased by any treatment, indicating that theobserved increase in the DNA content of primary leaves is ascribableto an increase in DNA per cell. Next, the whole shoots above the nodes of primary leaves wereremoved at various ages. The response of primary leaves to decapitationvaried according to their age. With age, they lost the abilityto increase their fresh weight, area, and chlorophyll contentbut not their DNA and RNA contents in response to decapitation.Decapitation stimulated chloroplast replication only withinthe period in which chloroplasts were replicating in controlleaves, but it induced chloroplast enlargement at any age. Therefore,the increase in DNA content after decapitation may be partiallydue to an increase in the amount of chloroplast DNA. When stems were heat-girdled above the nodes of the primaryleaves, these leaves showed responses similar to but smallerthan those to decapitation. The senescence of primary leavesseems to be controlled by the distribution of substances whichare transported from the roots.  相似文献

Mechanisms which enableReynoutria japonica, a dominant pioneer herb, to be successful in maintaining large stands in an oligotrophic volcanic desert on Mt Fuji were investigated with special reference to its nitrogen acquisition.Reynoutria japonica forms circular stands, each of which comprises only one genet. As a stand develops outwards, the number of aerial shoots per unit area decreases in the center. Shoots grow vigorously in the peripheral area where the available nitrogen from soil and precipitation (about 2.4 g m−2 year−2) was much less than total nitrogen in the shoots (6.1–9.1 g m−2). Leaf nitrogen content per unit mass was also greater in the leaves of the peripheral shoots. When rhizomes extending radially from the center to the periphery were severed, the dry mass of shoots in the periphery diminished by 75% on a ground area basis. In the periphery, leaf nitrogen content also reduced significantly and no flowers were produced. When fertilizer was applied to the peripheral shoots with severed rhizomes, neither growth, survival nor flower production of the shoots was significantly smaller than the control levels. In these shoots, it is also found that the nitrogen content in the youngest leaves decreased for about 1 month and then increased to above that in the control leaves. These results suggest that (i) nitrogen accumulated in the central part is translocated to peripheral shoots via rhizomes, and that long-distance translocation enables the stands to develop outwards, and (ii) aerial shoots in the periphery utilize the nitrogen translocated by rhizomes in the beginning of the growth season, whereas once the shoots have established, they begin to take up nitrogen with their own roots. Since the peripheral shoots are in sunnier environments than the shoots inside the stand, the acropetal nitrogen translocation via rhizomes will raise the production efficiency of a whole stand.  相似文献

The occurrence of growth regulators active in the Avena coleoptile straight-growth test in sprouting buds and seedlings of Norway spruce (Picea abies Karst.) was investigated. The acid ether fraction contained a growth stimulator, the Rf of which in isopropanol: ammonia: water was 0.2–0.4. This substance behaved as indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) in elec-trophoresis, in chromatography in various solvent systems on paper and on a Sephadex column. It gave the colour typical of IAA when sprayed with Ehrlich reagent and its fluorescence characteristics corresponded to IAA. Acid ether-soluble inhibitors showed most activity at Rf 0.4–0.7, but due to tailing they interfered with the determination of the stimulator at the Rf of IAA in the bioassay. They also masked the activity of other stimulators. Colour reactions were obtained with Ehrlich reagent in the inhibiting chromatogram zone. When eluates from this zone were tested in high dilutions or after gel filtration growth stimulation was obtained. The acid fraction of seedling shoots also contained a stimulator with Rf 0.7–0.8. In the neutral-basic ether-soluble fraction growth stimulation was obtained at Rf 0.5–0.7. The extracts also contained stimulatory substances insoluble in ether but soluble in n-butanol and partly in ethyl acetate. When the butanol fraction was hydrolyzed in 1 M NaOH a substance behaving as IAA when chromatographed was released.  相似文献

以1年生滨梅(Prunus maritima Marshall)扦插苗为实验材料,在盆栽条件下用质量浓度为0.15%、0.29%、0.58%、0.88%、1.17%、1.46%的NaCl溶液进行盐胁迫处理,测定胁迫后根、茎、叶Na+、K+含量以及全叶、一年生茎、二年生茎和根系生物量、含水率、根系活力变化,探讨滨梅的抗盐胁迫机制。结果显示:(1)盐胁迫80d后,随着盐胁迫强度提高,滨梅植株根、茎、叶Na+含量显著提高,而其根、茎K+含量显著降低,根、茎、叶K+/Na+值显著降低;根Na+含量在低于0.58%NaCl胁迫下显著高于茎、叶,而在高于0.58%NaCl胁迫下却表现为叶Na+含量显著高于根、茎。(2)滨梅根、茎、叶生物量均随盐胁迫强度的提高呈先增加后减少的趋势;随着盐胁迫时间的延长,茎、叶生物量在低于0.58%NaCl胁迫下均呈积累趋势,且茎生物量在0.58%NaCl胁迫下显著提高,而根、一年生茎、叶生物量在高于0.58%NaCl胁迫下均显著下降。(3)滨梅茎、叶含水率均随盐胁迫强度的增加呈先增加后减少的趋势,而随着胁迫时间的延长呈逐渐减少趋势;根系活力及根含水率均随盐胁迫强度的提高而增加,但根含水率随着胁迫时间的延长变化不明显。由此可见,滨梅能通过根系稀释并蓄积Na+,保护地上部分正常生长,当进入根系的Na+量超过吸收阈值时,Na+迅速在叶中积累储存,且叶中较高含量的K+对Na+形成了有效的缓冲。  相似文献

The quantitative changes of chlorogenic acid in shoots and leaves of two groups of grape vines differing in their flower- and fruit-formation have been studied. It was established that in most cases the acid level was lower in both shoots and leaves of grape vines with suppressed growth and intensified generative processes. The results obtained suggest that the lower content of chlorogenic acid is related to the reduced growth of shoots and acceleration of generative processes.  相似文献
