The purpose of this investigation was to determine the effect of creatine (Cr) loading on the onset of neuromuscular fatigue by monitoring electromyographic fatigue curves from the vastus lateralis muscle using the physical working capacity at the fatigue threshold (PWC(FT)) test. Using a double-blind random design, 15 women athletes [mean age 19.0 +/- 2.0 (SD) yr] from the university crew team received a placebo (n = 8; 20 g glucose) or Cr (n = 7; 5 g Cr monohydrate + 20 g glucose) four times per day for 5 consecutive days. Analysis of covariance was used to analyze the data (covaried for presupplementation PWC(FT) values). The adjusted mean postsupplementation PWC(FT) value for the Cr group (mean = 186 W) was significantly (P < 0.05) higher than that of the placebo group (mean = 155 W). These findings suggest that Cr loading may delay the onset of neuromuscular fatigue.  相似文献

Creatine monohydrate (CrM) supplementation during resistance exercise training results in a greater increase in strength and fat-free mass than placebo. Whether this is solely due to an increase in intracellular water or whether there may be alterations in protein turnover is not clear at this point. We examined the effects of CrM supplementation on indexes of protein metabolism in young healthy men (n = 13) and women (n = 14). Subjects were randomly allocated to CrM (20 g/day for 5 days followed by 5 g/day for 3-4 days) or placebo (glucose polymers) and tested before and after the supplementation period under rigorous dietary and exercise controls. Muscle phosphocreatine, creatine, and total creatine were measured before and after supplementation. A primed-continuous intravenous infusion of L-[1-(13)C]leucine and mass spectrometry were used to measure mixed-muscle protein fractional synthetic rate and indexes of whole body leucine metabolism (nonoxidative leucine disposal), leucine oxidation, and plasma leucine rate of appearance. CrM supplementation increased muscle total creatine (+13.1%, P < 0.05) with a trend toward an increase in phosphocreatine (+8.8%, P = 0.09). CrM supplementation did not increase muscle fractional synthetic rate but reduced leucine oxidation (-19.6%) and plasma leucine rate of appearance (-7.5%, P < 0.05) in men, but not in women. CrM did not increase total body mass or fat-free mass. We conclude that short-term CrM supplementation may have anticatabolic actions in some proteins (in men), but CrM does not increase whole body or mixed-muscle protein synthesis.  相似文献

Creatine monohydrate (CrM) supplementation appears to be relatively safe based on data from short-term and intermediate-term human studies and results from several therapeutic trials. The purpose of the current study was to characterize pathological changes after intermediate-term and long-term CrM supplementation in mice [healthy control and SOD1 (G93A) transgenic] and rats (prednisolone and nonprednisolone treated). Histological assessment (18-20 organs/tissues) was performed on G93A mice after 159 days, and in Sprague-Dawley rats after 365 days, of CrM supplementation (2% wt/wt) compared with control feed. Liver histology was also evaluated in CD-1 mice after 300 days of low-dose CrM supplementation (0.025 and 0.05 g x kg-1x day-1) and in Sprague-Dawley rats after 52 days of CrM supplementation (2% wt/wt) with and without prednisolone. Areas of hepatitis were observed in the livers of the CrM-supplemented G93A mice (P < 0.05), with no significant inflammatory lesions in any of the other 18-20 tissues/organs that were evaluated. The CD-1 mice also showed significant hepatic inflammatory lesions (P < 0.05), yet there was no negative effect of CrM on liver histology in the Sprague-Dawley rats after intermediate-term or long-term supplementation nor was inflammation seen in any other tissues/organs (P = not significant). Dietary CrM supplementation can induce inflammatory changes in the liver of mice, but not rats. The observed inflammatory changes in the murine liver must be considered in the evaluation of hepatic metabolism in CrM-supplemented mice. Species differences must be considered in the evaluation of toxicological and physiological studies.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of 2 and 6 days of creatine phosphate loading on anaerobic working capacity (AWC) and body weight (BW) in men and women. Sixty-one men (n = 31) and women (n = 30) randomly received 1 of 3 treatments (4 x 5 g.d(-1) x 6 days) using a double blind design: (a) 18 g dextrose as placebo (PL); (b) 5.0 g Cr + 20 g dextrose (Cr); or (c) 5.0 g Cr + 18 g dextrose + 4 g of sodium and potassium phosphates (CrP). AWC was determined at baseline and following 2 and 6 days of supplementation using the Critical Power Test. BW increased significantly over time, and the mean value for the men was significantly greater compared to that for women, but there were no interactions (p > 0.05). There were gender-specific responses for AWC expressed in both absolute values (kJ) and relative to BW (kJ. kg(-1)), with the women demonstrating no significant interactions. For the men, CrP loading significantly increased AWC following 2 days (23.8%) and 6 days (49.8%) of supplementation vs. PL (kJ and kJ.kg(-1)). Cr supplementation increased AWC 13-15% in both genders compared to PL (1.1%- 3.0% decline); although this result was not statistically significant, it may have some practical significance.  相似文献

Previous studies have demonstrated increases in peak torque (PT) and decreases in acceleration time (ACC) after only 2 days of resistance training, and other studies have reported improvements in isokinetic performance after 5 days of creatine supplementation. Consequently, there may be a combined benefit of creatine supplementation and short-term resistance training for eliciting rapid increases in muscle strength, which may be important for short-term rehabilitation and return-to-play for previously injured athletes. The purpose of this study, therefore, was to examine the effects of 3 days of isokinetic resistance training combined with 8 days of creatine monohydrate supplementation on PT, mean power output (MP), ACC, surface electromyography (EMG), and mechanomyography (MMG) of the vastus lateralis muscle during maximal concentric isokinetic leg extension muscle actions. Twenty-five men (mean age +/- SD = 21 +/- 3 years, stature = 177 +/- 6 cm, and body mass = 80 +/- 12 kg) volunteered to participate in this 9-day, double-blind, placebo-controlled study and were randomly assigned to either the creatine (CRE; n = 13) or placebo (PLA; n = 12) group. The CRE group ingested the treatment drink (280 kcal; 68 g carbohydrate; 10.5 g creatine), whereas the PLA group received an isocaloric placebo (70 g carbohydrate). Two servings per day (morning and afternoon) were administered in the laboratory on days 1-6, with only 1 serving on days 7-8. Before (pre; day 1) and after (post; day 9) the resistance training, maximal voluntary concentric isokinetic leg extensions at 30, 150, and 270 degrees x s(-1) were performed on a calibrated Biodex System 3 dynamometer. Three sets of 10 repetitions at 150 degrees x s(-1) were performed on days 3, 5, and 7. Peak torque increased (p = 0.005; eta(2) = 0.296), whereas ACC decreased (p < 0.001; eta(2) = 0.620), from pretraining to posttraining for both the CRE and PLA groups at each velocity (30, 150, and 270 degrees x s(-1)). Peak torque increased by 13% and 6%, whereas ACC decreased by 42% and 34% for the CRE and PLA groups, respectively, but these differences were not statistically significant (p > 0.05). There were no changes in MP, EMG, or MMG amplitude; however, EMG median frequency (MDF) increased, and MMG MDF increased at 30 degrees x s(-1), from pretraining to posttraining for both the CRE and PLA groups. These results indicated that 3 days of isokinetic resistance training was sufficient to elicit small, but significant, improvements in peak strength (PT) and ACC for both the CRE and PLA groups. Although the greater relative improvements in PT and ACC for the CRE group were not statistically significant, these findings may be useful for rehabilitation or strength and conditioning professionals who may need to rapidly increase the strength of a patient or athlete within 9 days.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of 2 and 5 days of Cr loading on anaerobic working capacity (AWC) using the critical power (CP) test in women. Ten physically active women randomly received 2 treatments separated by a 5 week washout period: (A) 18 g dextrose as placebo (PL) or (B) 5.0 g Cr + 18 g dextrose taken 4 times per day for 5 days. Following a familiarization trial, each subject completed the CP test at baseline and following 2 and 5 days of supplementation. The PL resulted in no significant changes in AWC following supplementation; however, Cr increased AWC by 22.1% after 5 days of loading (p < 0.05). There was a significant main effect for body weight (BW), however, there was no significant increase in BW due to Cr supplementation. These results suggest that Cr supplementation is effective for increasing AWC in women following 5 days of loading without an associated increase in BW.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of 30 days of single-dose creatine supplementation with phosphate salts (CPS) on body weight (BW) and anaerobic working capacity (AWC) in men. Using a double-blind design, 32 men randomly received 1 serving of either CPS (5 g Cr + 4 g phosphate) (n = 17) or 20 g of dextrose as placebo (PL) (n = 15) for 30 days. AWC determined from the Critical Power Test and BW were measured at baseline, 10 days, 20 days, 30 days, and 10 days post-supplementation. Results (2 x 5 ANOVA) showed no significant differences between groups for AWC at any time point; however, BW was significantly increased at 10 days in the CPS group (1.0 kg) vs. PL (0.0 kg), and remained elevated for the duration of the study. These findings suggest that a single 5 g x d(-1) dose of CPS for 30 days increases BW but is not effective for increasing AWC in men.  相似文献

Summary. The effect of beta-alanine (β-Ala) alone or in combination with creatine monohydrate (Cr) on aerobic exercise performance is unknown. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of 4 weeks of β-Ala and Cr supplementation on indices of endurance performance. Fifty-five men (24.5 ± 5.3 yrs) participated in a double-blind, placebo-controlled study and randomly assigned to one of 4 groups; placebo (PL, n = 13), creatine (Cr, n = 12), beta-alanine (β-Ala, n = 14), or beta-alanine plus creatine (CrBA, n = 16). Prior to and following supplementation, participants performed a graded exercise test on a cycle ergometer to determine VO2peak, time to exhaustion (TTE), and power output, VO2, and percent VO2peak associated with VT and LT. No significant group effects were found. However, within groups, a significant time effect was observed for CrBa on 5 of the 8 parameters measured. These data suggest that CrBA may potentially enhance endurance performance.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to validate the Physical Working Capacity at the Heart Rate Threshold (PWC HRT) and Physical Working Capacity at the Oxygen Consumption Threshold (PWC V O2) tests by 1) using individual power vs. duration relationships to estimate the times to exhaustion (ETTE) at the PWC HRT and PWC V O2, and 2) comparing the power outputs and ETTE values of the PWC HRT and PWC V O2 with those of the ventilatory threshold (VT). Ten adults (mean age +/- SD = 23 +/- 1 years) performed an incremental test to exhaustion on a cycle ergometer for the determination of V O2 peak and VT. The subjects also performed four randomly ordered workbouts to exhaustion at different power outputs (ranging from 98 to 246 W) to determine the PWC V O2, PWC HRT, and power vs. duration relationship. Power curve analyses (y = ax b) were used to define the hyperbolic power vs. duration relationship for each subject and to determine the ETTE at the PWC V O2, PWC HRT, and VT. Two separate one-way repeated-measures analyses of variance indicated that there were significant differences among the fatigue thresholds (PWC V O2 > PWC HRT) and ETTE values (PWC HRT > PWC V O2): PWC V O2 (mean +/- SD = 147 +/- 43 W; ETTE = 21 +/- 3 minutes), PWCHRT (136 +/- 37 W; ETTE = 29 +/- 6 minutes), and VT (143 +/- 44 W; ETTE = 27 +/- 11 minutes). These findings were consistent with previous studies that indicated that the PWC HRT occurred at a lower power output than the PWC V O2. Furthermore, the PWC HRT was maintained for a mean of 29 minutes, whereas the PWC V O2 and VT were maintained for 21 and 27 minutes, respectively. These findings indicate that the ETTE values for the PWC V O2 and PWC HRT were substantially less than those suggested in previous studies.  相似文献

Corticosteroids are used as chemotherapeutic agents in many medical conditions, despite many common and potentially serious side effects. Supplementation with creatine monohydrate (CrM) can increase strength and lean body mass in humans and, therefore, may be a viable countermeasure to the side effects of corticosteroids. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine if CrM could prevent the attenuation of growth associated with corticosteroid administration. Forty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized to the following groups: control (CON, n = 10), 7 mg methylprednisolone x kg(-1) x week(-1) (PRED, n = 10), 2% CrM in diet (CD, n = 10), or CrM and methylprednisolone (CD-PRED, n = 10). Animals received either a weekly sham injection (saline; CON and CD) or an injection of methylprednisolone (PRED and CD-PRED) for 6 weeks. At the completion of the 6th week, body composition was determined and skeletal muscles were collected. Weight gain was attenuated in PRED as compared with all other groups (P < 0.05). Muscle total creatine and phosphocreatine were greater in the extensor digitorum longus in the CD and CD-PRED groups as compared with the CON and PRED groups (P < 0.05); however, total creatine and phosphocreatine in the soleus were not different. Mean fiber area was greater in type II fibers from the extensor digitorum longus in the CD and CD-PRED groups as compared with the CON and PRED groups (P < 0.05); no treatment effect was seen in the soleus. In conclusion, CrM supplementation prevented the attenuation of growth associated with corticosteroids and also increased type II muscle fiber area. These results could have important clinical implications for several patient populations commonly treated with corticosteroids, and further work is required to determine the specific mechanisms underlying the physiological effects that were observed.  相似文献

The purpose was to determine if creatine supplementation, consumed immediately before and immediately after exercise, with different dosing frequency (i.e., 2 or 3 d wk) could enhance the gains in muscle size and strength from resistance training (RT) in young adults. A group of 38 physically active, nonresistance trained university students (21-28 years) was randomly allocated to 1 of 4 groups: CR2 (0.15 g·kg creatine during 2 d wk of RT; 3 sets of 10 repetitions; n = 11, 6 men, 5 women), CR3 (0.10 g·kg creatine during 3 d wk of RT; 2 sets of 10 repetitions; n = 11, 6 men, 5 women;), PLA2 (placebo during 2 d wk of RT; n = 8, 5 men, 3 women), and PLA3 (placebo during 3 d wk of RT; n = 8, 4 men, 4 women) for 6 weeks. Before and after training, measurements were taken for muscle thickness of the elbow and knee flexor and extensor muscle groups (ultrasound), 1-repetition maximumleg press and chest press strength, and kidney function (urinary microalbumin). Repeated-measures analysis of variance showed that strength and muscle thickness increased in all groups with training (p < 0.05). The CR2 (0.6 ± 0.9 cm or 20%; p < 0.05) and CR3 groups (0.4 ± 0.6 cm or 16.4%; p < 0.05) experienced greater change in muscle thickness of the elbow flexors compared to the PLA2 (0.05 ± 0.5 cm or 2.3%) and PLA3 groups (0.13 ± 0.7 cm or 6.3%). Men supplementing with creatine experienced a greater increase in leg press strength (77.3 ± 51.2 kg or 62%) compared to women on creatine (21.3 ± 10 kg or 34%, p < 0.05). We conclude that creatine supplementation during RT has a small beneficial effect on regional muscle thickness in young adults but that giving the creatine over 3 d wk did not differ from giving the same dose over 2 d wk.  相似文献

This experiment was conducted to determine if feed supplementation before exposure of anoestrous does to males increases ovulation rate. Does (n=50) grazing natural vegetation were divided into two groups (n=25). One group received no feed supplementation, while the other was supplemented daily, with a mixture of 950 g of alfalfa hay, 290 g of rolled corn and 140 g of soy bean per animal for 7 days before exposure to bucks. On April 7, all females were exposed to four adult sexually active bucks (two per group) for 15 days. The ovulation rate at the ovulation detected within 5 days of exposure to males, assessed by transrectal ultrasonography, was greater (P<0.05) in supplemented (1.6+/-0.2) than in non-supplemented females (1.0+/-0.2). In contrast, ovulation rate at the subsequent ovulation, detected between days 6 and 15 of contact with males, was not different (P>0.05) between supplemented (1.3+/-0.1) and non-supplemented females (1.3+/-0.2). Feed supplementation 7 days before exposure to sexually active bucks of females managed under grazing conditions increased their ovulation rate at the first male-induced ovulation but the stimulatory effect of supplementation did not persist and was not observed at the subsequent ovulation.  相似文献

Postexercise carbohydrate-protein (CHO + PRO) supplementation has been proposed to improve recovery and subsequent endurance performance compared to CHO supplementation. This study compared the effects of a CHO + PRO supplement in the form of chocolate milk (CM), isocaloric CHO, and placebo (PLA) on recovery and subsequent exercise performance. Ten cyclists performed 3 trials, cycling 1.5 hours at 70% VO?max plus 10 minutes of intervals. They ingested supplements immediately postexercise and 2 hours into a 4-hour recovery. Biopsies were performed at recovery minutes 0, 45, and 240 (R0, R45, REnd). Postrecovery, subjects performed a 40-km time trial (TT). The TT time was faster in CM than in CHO and in PLA (79.43 ± 2.11 vs. 85.74 ± 3.44 and 86.92 ± 3.28 minutes, p ≤ 0.05). Muscle glycogen resynthesis was higher in CM and in CHO than in PLA (23.58 and 30.58 vs. 7.05 μmol·g?1 wet weight, p ≤ 0.05). The mammalian target of rapamycin phosphorylation was greater at R45 in CM than in CHO or in PLA (174.4 ± 36.3 vs. 131.3 ± 28.1 and 73.7 ± 7.8% standard, p ≤ 0.05) and at REnd in CM than in PLA (94.5 ± 9.9 vs. 69.1 ± 3.8%, p ≤ 0.05). rpS6 phosphorylation was greater in CM than in PLA at R45 (41.0 ± 8.3 vs. 15.3 ± 2.9%, p ≤ 0.05) and REnd (16.8 ± 2.8 vs. 8.4 ± 1.9%, p ≤ 0.05). FOXO3A phosphorylation was greater at R45 in CM and in CHO than in PLA (84.7 ± 6.7 and 85.4 ± 4.7 vs. 69.2 ± 5.5%, p ≤ 0.05). These results indicate that postexercise CM supplementation can improve subsequent exercise performance and provide a greater intracellular signaling stimulus for PRO synthesis compared to CHO and placebo.  相似文献

Summary. In order to evaluate the effects of dietary taurine supplementation on visual fatigue induced by visual display terminals (VDT) work, 25 male college students aged from 20 to 24 years who were not engaged in VDT work were selected to participate in the study. Volunteers were randomly assigned to either the taurine supplementation (n=13) or the placebo supplementation control group (n=12). Before and after 12 days of taurine (3g/day) or placebo supplementation, two identical 2.5-hr VDT work tests were performed while recording the P100, N75 and N145 latencies and P100 amplitude of pattern visual evoked potential (PVEP) and the frequency of critical flicker fusion (CFF). Following 2.5-hr of VDT work, the P100 and N75 latencies of PVEP increased (P<0.01) while the P100 amplitude decreased significantly (P<0.01). The frequency of CFF also reduced significantly (P<0.01). After 12 days of taurine supplementation, the reduction in P100 amplitude after VDT work alleviated significantly (P<0.05). The results suggest that taurine supplementation alleviates visual fatigue induced by VDT work.  相似文献

Oral glutamine supplementation during and after exercise abolishes exercise-induced decreases in plasma glutamine concentration but does not affect secretory IgA (sIgA) salivary output. Whether chronic glutamine supplementation during high-intensity interval training influences salivary and nasal sIgA concentration is unknown. The purpose of this study was examine the effects of chronic glutamine supplementation on sIgA during intense running training. Runners (n = 13, body mass 69.9 +/- 2.8 kg, peak whole body oxygen uptake 55.5 +/- 2 ml.kg(-1).min(-1), age 29.1 +/- 2.8 yr) participated in twice-daily interval training for 9-9.5 days, followed by recovery (5-7 days). Oral glutamine supplement (0.1 g/kg) or placebo was given four times daily for the first 14 days. After an overnight fast, venous blood, nasal washes, and stimulated saliva were collected at baseline (T1), midtraining (T2), posttraining (T3), and after recovery (T4). Mood states were assessed by using Profile of Mood States (POMS) inventories. We found that glutamine concentration in resting subjects decreased from T1 to T4 (P < 0.05) and was not altered by supplementation. Salivary IgA concentration and output were unchanged by training or supplementation. Mean nasal IgA across the study period was greater in runners receiving glutamine (264.7 +/- 35.0 microg/mg protein) vs. placebo (172.4 +/- 33.7 microg/mg protein; P < 0.05). POMS analyses indicated that vigor was lower at T3 vs. T1 (P < 0.05) and fatigue was higher at T2 vs. T1 and T4 (P < 0.05). We conclude that chronic glutamine supplementation during interval training results in higher nasal IgA than placebo but does not affect salivary IgA concentration or output.  相似文献

Short-term trials with the antioxidant thioctic acid (TA) appear to improve neuropathic symptoms in diabetic patients, but the long-term response remains to be established. Therefore, Type 1 and Type 2 diabetic patients with symptomatic polyneuropathy were randomly assigned to three treatment regimens: (1) 2 x 600(mg of TA (TA 1200), (2) 600)mg of TA plus placebo (PLA) (TA 600) or (3) placebo and placebo (PLA). A trometamol salt solution of TA of 1200 or 600 mg or PLA was intravenously administered once daily for five consecutive days before enrolling the patients in the oral treatment phase. The study was prospective, PLA-controlled, randomized, double-blind and conducted for two years. Severity of diabetic neuropathy was assessed by the Neuropathy Disability Score (NDS) and electrophysiological attributes of the sural (sensory nerve conduction velocity (SNCV), sensory nerve action potential (SNAP)) and the tibial (motor nerve conduction velocity (MNCV), motor nerve distal latency (MNDL)) nerve. Statistical analysis was performed after independent reviewers excluded all patients with highly variable data allowing a final analysis of 65 patients (TA 1200: n = 18, TA 600: n = 27; PLA: n = 20). At baseline no significant differences were noted between the groups regarding the demographic variables and peripheral nerve function parameters for these 65 patients. Statistically significant changes after 24 months between TA and PLA were observed (mean +/- SD) for sural SNCV: +3.8 +/- 4.2 m/s in TA 1200, +3.0+/-3.0m/s in TA 600, -0.1+/-4.8m/s in PLA (p < 0.05 for TA 1200 and TA 600 vs. PLA); sural SNAP: +0.6+/-2.5 microV in TA 1200, +0.3+/-1.4 microV in TA 600, -0.7 +/- 1.5 microV in PLA (p = 0.076 for TA 1200 vs. PLA and p < 0.05 for TA 600 vs. PLA), and in tibial MNCV: +/- 1.2 +/- 3.8 m/s in TA 1200, -0.3 +/- 5.2 m/s in TA 600, 1.5 +/- 2.9 m/s in PLA (p < 0.05 for TA 1200 vs. PLA). No significant differences between the groups after 24 months were noted regarding the tibial MNDL and the NDS. We conclude that in a subgroup of patients after exclusion of patients with excessive test variability throughout the trial, TA appeared to have a beneficial effect on several attributes of nerve conduction.  相似文献

The purpose of the present study was to use ratings of perceived exertion (RPE) from the Borg (6-20) and OMNI-Leg (0-10) scales to determine the Physical Working Capacity at the Borg and OMNI thresholds (PWC(BORG) and PWC(OMNI)). PWC(BORG) and PWC(OMNI) were compared with other fatigue thresholds determined from the measurement of heart rate (the Physical Working Capacity at the Heart Rate Threshold: PWC(HRT)), and oxygen consumption (the Physical Working Capacity at the Oxygen Consumption Threshold, PWC(VO2)), as well as the ventilatory threshold (VT). Fifteen men and women volunteers (mean age +/- SD = 22 +/- 1 years) performed an incremental test to exhaustion on an electronically braked ergometer for the determination of VO2 peak and VT. The subjects also performed 4 randomly ordered workbouts to exhaustion at different power outputs (ranging from 60 to 206W) for the determination of PWC(BORG), PWC(OMNI), PWC(HRT), and PWC(VO2). The results indicated that there were no significant mean differences among the fatigue thresholds: PWC(BORG) (mean +/- SD = 133 +/- 37W; 67 +/- 8% of VO2 peak), PWC(OMNI) (137 +/- 44W; 68 +/- 9% of VO2 peak), PWC(HRT) (135 +/- 36W; 68 +/- 8% of VO2 peak), PWC(VO2) (145 +/- 41W; 72 +/- 7% of VO2 peak) and VT (131 +/- 45W; 66 +/- 8% of VO2 peak). The results of this study indicated that the mathematical model used to estimate PWC(HRT) and PWC(VO2) can be applied to ratings of perceived exertion to determine PWC(BORG) and PWC(OMNI) during cycle ergometry. Salient features of the PWC(BORG) and PWC(OMNI) tests are that they are simple to administer and require the use of only an RPE scale, a stopwatch, and a cycle ergometer. Furthermore, the power outputs at the PWC(BORG) and PWC(OMNI) may be useful to estimate the VT noninvasively and without the need for expired gas analysis.  相似文献

The aim of study was to investigate static balance control in wrestlers (n = 31) and effects of fatigue on postural regulation in two position: bipedal stance and squat position with open eyes prior to and 2 min after bicycle PWC(170) test. A force platform ("Ritm". Russia) was used to determine static balance control. We found a minimum difference in postural control between wrestlers and controls prior to exercise in bipedal stance. In squat position linear and angular (all p < 0.001) sway velocity of centre of pressure were lower in wrestlers and were negatively correlated to PWC(170) index (r = 0.454 and r = 455, p < 0.001 with linear and angular sway velocities respectively) indicating that 20% dispersion of sway velocities in static strain position may be determined to physical working capacity. After PWC(170) test all parameters of sway were increased in both groups both in bipedal stance (p < 0.01) and squat position (p < 0.001) indicating an important role of muscular fatigue in the decrease of postural stability in both groups. Linear velocity after PWC(170) in bipedal stance increased to an equal extent in both groups but the increases of velocities of sway of centre of pressure in squat position were lower in athletes (ANOVA, p = 0.037 for linear and p = 0.008 for angular sway velocities respectively) and were negatively correlated to an extent of recovery of heart rate after PWC(170) indicating some contribution (6.5-14.2% of dispersion of linear and angular sway velocities) of an recovery rate to maintenance of a high level of postural stability in an static strain position in wrestlers during physical fatigue.  相似文献

A positive association between P4 concentration and initial bovine embryo survival has been reported. The objective of this study was to establish two coculture systems as a model to study the influence of progesterone on the initial bovine embryo development. Granulosa cells (GC) or bovine oviduct epithelial cells (BOECs) were used at the base of embryo culture medium microdroplets (TCM199 and 10% of superovulated oestrus cow serum, (SOCS)) supplemented or not with progesterone (P4, 33.4 ng mL(-1)) and/or a progesterone receptor antagonist (onapristone, OP, 2.2x10(-5)M). Presumptive zygotes were transferred to monolayers after in vitro maturation and fertilization of bovine oocytes with thawed swim-up selected sperm. Embryo development was carried out according to the following groups: experiment 1, BOEC (n=378) and BOEC plus OP (n=325); experiment 2, GC (n=514); GC plus OP (n=509); BOEC (n=490); BOEC plus P4 (n=500); BOEC plus P4 and OP (n=502). Embryos were checked for cleavage at day 2 and for stage development between days 8 and 12 of culture. In experiment 1, no differences (P>0.05) were identified between BOEC and BOECOP groups for embryo rates of development, quality or developmental stages. Also in experiment 2, no differences were found in embryo rates of development, quality or developmental stages between embryos cultured under the two coculture systems when no supplementation was added. Embryo development rates were not affected by OP presence in GCOP group. However, P4 negatively affected Day 8 (D8) embryo development rates in BOEC system (BOECP4=16.8+/-2.6% vs. BOEC=23.7+/-1.7%, P=0.02). This negative effect was abolished when P4 antagonist (OP) was added to the culture medium. BOEC supplementation with P4 also induced a delay on embryo development at D8 as confirmed by a lower development score (BOECP4=3.0+/-1.4 vs. GC=3.4+/-0.1, GCOP=3.5+/-0.1, BOEC=3.4+/-0.1 and BOECP4OP=3.5+/-0.1; P<0.05). These results demonstrate that OP supplementation had no harmful effect on embryo development either in granulosa, where P4 is naturally synthesised, or in BOEC coculture systems. Also we can not confirm a direct association between high P4 concentrations and embryo survival during early stages, although P4 may influence early embryo development through different mechanisms mediated by the type of cells present.  相似文献
