Recently, great concerns have been raised regarding the issue of medical image protection due to the increasing demand for telemedicine services, especially the teleradiology service. To meet this challenge, a novel chaos-based approach is suggested in this paper. To address the security and efficiency problems encountered by many existing permutation-diffusion type image ciphers, the new scheme utilizes a single 3D chaotic system, Chen''s chaotic system, for both permutation and diffusion. In the permutation stage, we introduce a novel shuffling mechanism, which shuffles each pixel in the plain image by swapping it with another pixel chosen by two of the three state variables of Chen''s chaotic system. The remaining variable is used for quantification of pseudorandom keystream for diffusion. Moreover, the selection of state variables is controlled by plain pixel, which enhances the security against known/chosen-plaintext attack. Thorough experimental tests are carried out and the results indicate that the proposed scheme provides an effective and efficient way for real-time secure medical image transmission over public networks.  相似文献

In order to overcome the security weakness of the discrete chaotic sequence caused by small Lyapunov exponent and keyspace, a general chaotic construction method by cascading multiple high-dimensional isomorphic maps is presented in this paper. Compared with the original map, the parameter space of the resulting chaotic map is enlarged many times. Moreover, the cascaded system has larger chaotic domain and bigger Lyapunov exponents with proper parameters. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the presented method, the generalized 3-D Hénon map is utilized as an example to analyze the dynamical behaviors under various cascade modes. Diverse maps are obtained by cascading 3-D Hénon maps with different parameters or different permutations. It is worth noting that some new dynamical behaviors, such as coexisting attractors and hyperchaotic attractors are also discovered in cascaded systems. Finally, an application of image encryption is delivered to demonstrate the excellent performance of the obtained chaotic sequences.  相似文献

The relative slow scanning speed of a galvanometer commonly used in a confocal laser scanning microscopy system can dramatically limit the system performance in scanning speed and image quality, if the data collection is simply synchronized with the galvanometric scanning. Several algorithms for the optimization of the galvanometric CLSM system performance are discussed in this work, with various hardware controlling techniques for the image distortion correction such as pixel delay and interlace line switching; increasing signal-to-noise ratio with data binning; or enhancing the imaging speed with region of interest imaging. Moreover, the pixel number can be effectively increased with Acquire-On-Fly scan, which can be used for the imaging of a large field-of-view with a high resolution.  相似文献

Image analysis of X-ray microanalytical maps of sodium, potassium, phosphorus, chloride and calcium was carried out on the IBAS image analysis system (OPTON, FRG). In the present work, algorithms were developed for getting a new semiquantitative information from the binary images of maps: the element profile on the chosen line, the isoconcentration mapping and the multiple elemental mapping. It is possible to get as many as eight different elemental maps on the same image (with 8-bit resolution of pixel) and to extract the pixels with element overlappings.  相似文献

Many of the tree species in mature forests show masting; their reproductive activity has a large variance between years and is often synchronized between different individuals. In this paper, we analyse a globally coupled map model in which trees accumulate photosynthate every year, produce flowers when the energy reserve level exceeds a threshold, and set seeds and fruits at a rate limited by pollen availability. Without pollen limitation, the trees in the forest show independent chaotic fluctuation. Coupling of trees via pollen exchange results in reproduction being synchronized partially or completely over the forest. The whole forest shows diverse dynamical behaviors determined by the values of two essential parameters; the depletion coefficient k and the coupling strength beta. We find perfectly synchronized periodic reproduction, synchronized reproduction with a chaotic time series, clustering phenomena, and chaotic reproduction of trees without synchronization over individuals. There are many parameter windows in which synchronized reproduction of trees shows a stable periodic fluctuation. For perfectly synchronized forests, we can calculate all the Lyapunov exponents analytically. They show that synchronized reproduction of all the trees in the forest can only occur when trees flower at low (but positive) levels in a significant fraction of years, resulting in small fruit sets due to outcrossed pollen limitation. This is consistent with the observation that the distinction between mast years and non-mast years is often not clear cut.  相似文献

Algorithms using 4-pixel Feistel structure and chaotic systems have been shown to resolve security problems caused by large data capacity and high correlation among pixels for color image encryption. In this paper, a fast color image encryption algorithm based on the modified 4-pixel Feistel structure and multiple chaotic maps is proposed to improve the efficiency of this type of algorithm. Two methods are used. First, a simple round function based on a piecewise linear function and tent map are used to reduce computational cost during each iteration. Second, the 4-pixel Feistel structure reduces round number by changing twist direction securely to help the algorithm proceed efficiently. While a large number of simulation experiments prove its security performance, additional special analysis and a corresponding speed simulation show that these two methods increase the speed of the proposed algorithm (0.15s for a 256*256 color image) to twice that of an algorithm with a similar structure (0.37s for the same size image). Additionally, the method is also faster than other recently proposed algorithms.  相似文献

Dispersal of organisms may play an essential role in the coexistence of species. Recent studies of the evolution of dispersal in temporally varying environments suggest that clones differing in dispersal rates can coexist indefinitely. In this work, we explore the mechanism permitting such coexistence for a model of dispersal in a patchy environment, where temporal heterogeneity arises from endogenous chaotic dynamics. We show that coexistence arises from an extreme type of intermittent behavior, namely the phenomenon known as on-off intermittency. In effect, coexistence arises because of an alternation between synchronized and de-synchronized dynamical behaviors. Our analysis of the dynamical mechanism for on-off intermittency lends strong credence to the proposition that chaotic synchronism may be a general feature of species coexistence, where competing species differ only in dispersal rate.  相似文献

This paper describes computer simulations of diffusely-connected neuronal populations. Main findings are that diffuse monosynaptic linkages between populations are selectively sensitive to synchronized clusters of action potentials in the pre-synaptic population; that diffusely-connected excitatory recurrent collaterals tend to produce rhythmic series of synchronized clusters; and that diffusely-connected inhibition (both recurrent and afferent) tend to reduce the number of cells participating in a given synchronized cluster and thereby the overall transfer rate. However, recurrent inhibition tends to increase the rate at which synchronized clusters are produced by recurrent excitation. In contrast to pancreatic islets, isolated beta-cells stimulated by glucose display irregular and asynchronous increases in cytoplasmic Ca(2+) concentration ([Ca(2+)](i)). Here, clusters of 5-30 cells were prepared from a single mouse islet or from pools of islets, loaded with fura-2, and studied with a camera-based system. [Ca(2+)](i) oscillations were compared in pairs of clusters by computing the difference in period and a synchronization index lambda. During perifusion with 12 mM glucose, the clusters exhibited regular [Ca(2+)](i) oscillations that were quasi-perfectly synchronized (Delta period of 1.4% and index lambda close to 1.0) between cells of each cluster. In contrast, separate clusters were not synchronized, even when prepared from one single islet. Pairs of clusters neighboring on the same coverslip were not better synchronized than pairs of clusters examined separately (distinct coverslips). We next attempted to synchronize clusters perifused with 12 mM glucose by applying external signals. A single pulse of 20 mM glucose, 10 mM amino acids, or 10 microM tolbutamide transiently altered [Ca(2+)](i) oscillations but did not reset the clusters to oscillate synchronously. On a background of 12 mM glucose, repetitive applications (1 min/5 min) of 10 microM tolbutamide, but not of 20 mM glucose, synchronized separate clusters. Our results identify a level of beta-cell heterogeneity intermediate between single beta-cells and the whole islet. They do not support the idea that substances released by islet cells serve as paracrine synchronizers. However, synchronization can be achieved by an external signal, if this signal has a sufficient strength to overwhelm the intrinsic rhythm of glucose-induced oscillations and is repetitively applied.  相似文献

 Synchronization of neurons may have some biological significance, but there are questions about how neurons can sometimes be synchronized and sometimes not. In this work, electronic circuit models of the Fitzhugh-Nagumo equations are used to stimulate four pulse-coupled neurons. For some coupling configurations, the circuits are only partly synchronized even though all circuits share a common drive. Using a spatial lattice model of the Iterated Prisoner's Dilemma we studied the evolution of cooperation within the strategy space of all stochastic strategies with a memory of one round. Comparing the spatial model with a randomly mixed model showed that (1) there is more cooperative behaviour in a spatially structured population, (2) PAVLOV and generous variants of it are very successful strategies in the spatial context and (3) in spatially structured populations evolution is much less chaotic than in unstructured populations. In spatially structured populations, generous variants of PAVLOV are found to be very successful strategies in playing the Iterated Prisoner's Dilemma. The main weakness of PAVLOV is that it is exploitable by defective strategies. In a spatial context this disadvantage is much less important than the good error correction of PAVLOV, and especially of generous PAVLOV, because in a spatially structured population successful strategies always build clusters.  相似文献

Synchronous sexual signalling is a behavioural phenomenon that has received considerable theoretical interest, but surprisingly few empirical tests have been conducted. Here, we present a set of experiments designed to determine (i) whether the sexual signalling of the drumming wolf spider Hygrolycosa rubrofasciata is synchronous, and (ii) whether the synchrony may have evolved through female preference. Using controlled playback experiments, we found that males actively synchronized their drumming bouts with other males and females significantly preferred closely synchronized drumming clusters compared with loose clusters. In loose clusters, the first drumming signals attracted the most female responses, whereas in close clusters, the last drumming signals were the most heeded. We suggest that this female preference for the last drummer can maintain male synchronous signalling in H. rubrofasciata.  相似文献

Much of the visual cortex is organized into visual field maps: nearby neurons have receptive fields at nearby locations in the image. Mammalian species generally have multiple visual field maps with each species having similar, but not identical, maps. The introduction of functional magnetic resonance imaging made it possible to identify visual field maps in human cortex, including several near (1) medial occipital (V1,V2,V3), (2) lateral occipital (LO-1,LO-2, hMT+), (3) ventral occipital (hV4, VO-1, VO-2), (4) dorsal occipital (V3A, V3B), and (5) posterior parietal cortex (IPS-0 to IPS-4). Evidence is accumulating for additional maps, including some in the frontal lobe. Cortical maps are arranged into clusters in which several maps have parallel eccentricity representations, while the angular representations within a cluster alternate in visual field sign. Visual field maps have been linked to functional and perceptual properties of the visual system at various spatial scales, ranging from the level of individual maps to map clusters to dorsal-ventral streams. We survey recent measurements of human visual field maps, describe hypotheses about the function and relationships between maps, and consider methods to improve map measurements and characterize the response properties of neurons comprising these maps.  相似文献

Breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer among women worldwide. Early detection of breast cancer has a critical role in improving the quality of life and survival of breast cancer patients. In this paper a new approach for the detection of breast cancer is described, based on tracking the mammary architectural elements using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). The paper focuses on the scanning protocols and image processing algorithms and software that were designed to fit the diffusion properties of the mammary fibroglandular tissue and its changes during malignant transformation. The final output yields pixel by pixel vector maps that track the architecture of the entire mammary ductal glandular trees and parametric maps of the diffusion tensor coefficients and anisotropy indices. The efficiency of the method to detect breast cancer was tested by scanning women volunteers including 68 patients with breast cancer confirmed by histopathology findings. Regions with cancer cells exhibited a marked reduction in the diffusion coefficients and in the maximal anisotropy index as compared to the normal breast tissue, providing an intrinsic contrast for delineating the boundaries of malignant growth. Overall, the sensitivity of the DTI parameters to detect breast cancer was found to be high, particularly in dense breasts, and comparable to the current standard breast MRI method that requires injection of a contrast agent. Thus, this method offers a completely non-invasive, safe and sensitive tool for breast cancer detection.  相似文献

In the last decade, imaging mass spectrometry has seen incredible technological advances in its applications to biological samples. One computational method of data mining in this field is the spatial segmentation of a sample, which produces a segmentation map highlighting chemically similar regions. An important issue for any imaging mass spectrometry technology is its relatively low spatial or lateral resolution (i.e. a large size of pixel) as compared with microscopy. Thus, the spatial resolution of a segmentation map is also relatively low, that complicates its visual examination and interpretation when compared with microscopy data, as well as reduces the accuracy of any automated comparison. We address this issue by proposing an approach to improve the spatial resolution of a segmentation map. Given a segmentation map, our method magnifies it up to some factor, producing a super-resolution segmentation map. The super-resolution map can be overlaid and compared with a high-res microscopy image. The proposed method is based on recent advances in image processing and smoothes the "pixilated" region boundaries while preserving fine details. Moreover, it neither eliminates nor splits any region. We evaluated the proposed super-resolution segmentation approach on three MALDI-imaging datasets of human tissue sections and demonstrated the superiority of the super-segmentation maps over standard segmentation maps.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to develop a technique to classify health of eastern hemlock stands using historical satellite images. While remote sensing and geographic information systems have been used successfully to classify forest health using recent images, applying this process to older images is problematic because contemporaneous field data are not available to measure the accuracy of the classification of historical images. Data ranges were established for each hemlock health class using a contemporary image and field data. These ranges were used to level-slice archived images to create a series of health-class maps that show changes in forest health over time. By applying cross-tabulation procedures to pairs of classified images, it is possible to construct a transition map that indicates how the hemlock health class of each pixel in the images of the study area has changed over time. The resulting maps provide a look back at forest conditions of the past and can be used to identify areas of special interest.  相似文献

The forced double-Monod model (for a chemostat with a predator, a prey and periodically forced inflowing substrate) displays quasiperiodicity, phase locking, period doubling and chaotic dynamics. Stroboscopic sections reveal circle maps for the quasiperiodic regimes and noninvertible maps of the interval for the chaotic regimes. Criticality in the circle maps sets the stage for chaos in the model. This criticality may arise with an increase in the period or amplitude of forcing.  相似文献

MRI-guided microwave ablation (MWA) is a minimally invasive treatment for localized cancer. MR thermometry has been shown to be able to provide vital information for monitoring the procedure in real-time. However, MRI during active MWA can suffer from image quality degradation due to intermittent electromagnetic interference (EMI). A novel approach to correct for EMI-contaminated images is presented here to improve MR thermometry during clinical hepatic MWA. The method was applied to MR-thermometry images acquired during four MR-guided hepatic MWA treatments using a commercially available MRI-configured microwave generator system. During the treatments MR thermometry data acquisition was synchronized to respiratory cycle to minimize the impact of motion. EMI was detected and corrected using uncontaminated k-space data from nearby frames in k-space. Substantially improved temperature and thermal damage maps have been obtained and the treatment zone can be better visualized. Our ex vivo tissue sample study shows the correction introduced minimal errors to the temperature maps and thermal damage maps.  相似文献
