The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of endurance training on skeletal muscle hemodynamics and oxygen consumption. Seven healthy endurance-trained and seven untrained subjects were studied. Oxygen uptake, blood flow, and blood volume were measured in the quadriceps femoris muscle group by use of positron emission tomography and [15O]O2, [15O]H2O, and [15O]CO during rest and one-legged submaximal intermittent isometric exercise. The oxygen extraction fraction was higher (0.49 +/- 0.14 vs. 0.29 +/- 0.12; P = 0.017) and blood transit time longer (0.6 +/- 0.1 vs. 0.4 +/- 0.1 min; P = 0.04) in the exercising muscle of the trained compared with the untrained subjects. The flow heterogeneity by means of relative dispersion was lower for the exercising muscle in the trained (50 +/- 9%) compared with the untrained subjects (65 +/- 13%, P = 0.025). In conclusion, oxygen extraction is higher, blood transit time longer, and perfusion more homogeneous in endurance-trained subjects compared with untrained subjects at the same workload. These changes may be associated with improved exercise efficiency in the endurance-trained subjects.  相似文献

Adaptations in coactivation after isometric resistance training.   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5  
Twenty sedentary male university students were randomly assigned to an experimental or a control group. The experimental group trained the knee extensors of one leg by producing 30 isometric extension maximal voluntary contractions (MVC) per day, three times per week for 8 wk. After 8 wk of training, extensor MVC in the trained leg increased 32.8% (P less than 0.05), but there was no change in vastus lateralis maximal integrated electromyographic activity (IEMGmax). The most important finding was that the degree of hamstring coactivation during extension MVC decreased by approximately 20% (P less than 0.05) after the 1st wk of training. Less pronounced adaptations occurred in the untrained leg: extension MVC force increased 16.2% (P less than 0.05), hamstring coactivity decreased 13% (P less than 0.05) after 2 wk of training, and vastus lateralis IEMGmax was unchanged. The same measures in legs of the control group were not changed during the study. There were no changes in flexion MVC, biceps femoris IEMGmax, or the degree of quadriceps coactivity during flexion MVC in either leg of the control or experimental group. A reduction in hamstring coactivity in the trained and untrained legs indicates that these muscles provide less opposing force to the contracting quadriceps. We conclude that this small but significant decrease in hamstring coactivation that occurs during the early stages of training is a nonhypertrophic adaptation of the neuromuscular system in response to static resistance training of this type.  相似文献

Exercise is associated with a net loss of K+ from the working muscles and an increased plasma K+ concentration, indicating that the capacity for intracellular reaccumulation of K+ is exceeded. Training reduces the exercise-induced rise in plasma K+, and an increased plasma [K+] may interfere with physical performance. Since the clearing of K+ from the extracellular space depends on the capacity for active K+ uptake in skeletal muscle, the effects of training and inactivity on the total concentration of (Na+ + K+)-ATPase was determined. Following 6 weeks of swim training, the concentration of [3H]ouabain-binding sites in rat hindlimb muscles was up to 46% (P less than 0.001) higher than in those obtained from age-matched controls. Whereas muscle Na+, K+ contents remained unchanged, the concentration of citrate synthase increased by up to 76% (P less than 0.001). Training induced no change in the [3H]ouabain-binding-site concentration in the diaphragm, but in the heart ventricles, the K+-dependent 3-O-methylfluorescein phosphatase activity increased by 20% (P less than 0.001). Muscle inactivity induced by denervation, plaster immobilisation or tenotomy reduced the [3H]ouabain-binding-site concentration by 20-30% (P less than 0.02-0.001) within 1 week. In conclusion, training leads to a significant and reversible rise in the concentration of (Na+ + K+)-ATPase in muscle cells. This may be of importance for the beneficial effects on physical performance by improving the maximum capacity for K+ clearance.  相似文献

Studies were conducted to determine whether Na-K ATPase or a second species of digitalis receptors in canine cardiac sarcolemma membrane preparations is associated with the positive inotropic action of nontoxic concentrations of ouabain. [3H]ouabain association and dissociation experiments using highly enriched sarcolemma preparations from canine ventricle indicate the presence of two species of ouabain binding receptors. Ouabain binding to Na-K ATPase of the sarcolemma preparation requires supporting ligands and is characterized by fast association and very slow dissociation in vitro. The second species of digitalis receptor does not require supporting ligands for ouabain binding and is characterized by slow association and fast dissociation. To determine which species of digitalis receptor is associated with the positive inotropic action of digitalis, ouabain washout experiments were conducted using various isolated canine myocardial preparations. Washout of the positive inotropic effects of 1.2-2.4 X 10(-7) M ouabain gave half-life values of 1.5-2.0 h for the various myocardial preparations. [3H]ouabain dissociation from the second species of digitalis receptors gave half-life values of 1.7-1.8 h, whereas dissociation from the sarcolemma Na-K ATPase gave half-life values of 8.9-9.3 h for the various sarcolemma preparations utilized. Therefore, based on similarities in half-life values between ouabain inotropy and [3H]ouabain dissociation from the second class of digitalis receptors, it is postulated that the positive inotropic action of digitalis glycosides is associated with the second species of digitalis receptors in the sarcolemma and not with the digitalis inhibitory receptor of Na-K ATPase for nontoxic concentrations of digitalis.  相似文献

Despite many reports of long-lasting elevation of metabolism after exercise, little is known regarding the effects of exercise intensity and duration on this phenomenon. This study examined the effect of a constant duration (30 min) of cycle ergometer exercise at varied intensity levels [50 and 70% of maximal O2 consumption (VO2max)] on 3-h recovery of oxygen uptake (VO2). VO2 and respiratory exchange ratios were measured by open-circuit spirometry in five trained female cyclists (age 25 +/- 1.7 yr) and five untrained females (age 27 +/- 0.8 yr). Postexercise VO2 measured at intervals for 3 h after exercise was greater (P less than 0.01) after exercise at 50% VO2max in trained (0.40 +/- 0.01 l/min) and untrained subjects (0.39 +/- 0.01 l/min) than after 70% VO2max in (0.31 +/- 0.02 l/min) and untrained subjects (0.29 +/- 0.02 l/min). The lower respiratory exchange ratio values (P less than 0.01) after 50% VO2max in trained (0.78 +/- 0.01) and untrained subjects (0.80 +/- 0.01) compared with 70% VO2max in trained (0.81 +/- 0.01) and untrained subjects (0.83 +/- 0.01) suggest that an increase in fat metabolism may be implicated in the long-term elevation of metabolism after exercise. This was supported by the greater estimated fatty acid oxidation (P less than 0.05) after 50% VO2max in trained (147 +/- 4 mg/min) and untrained subjects (133 +/- 9 mg/min) compared with 70% VO2max in trained (101 +/- 6 mg/min) and untrained subjects (85 +/- 7 mg/min).  相似文献

Eight men (20-23 years) weight trained 3 days.week-1 for 19 weeks. Training sessions consisted of six sets of a leg press exercise (simultaneous hip and knee extension and ankle plantar flexion) on a weight machine, the last three sets with the heaviest weight that could be used for 7-20 repetitions. In comparison to a control group (n = 6) only the trained group increased (P less than 0.01) weight lifting performance (heaviest weight lifted for one repetition, 29%), and left and right knee extensor cross-sectional area (CAT scanning and computerized planimetry, 11%, P less than 0.05). In contrast, training caused no increase in maximal voluntary isometric knee extension strength, electrically evoked knee extensor peak twitch torque, and knee extensor motor unit activation (interpolated twitch method). These data indicate that a moderate but significant amount of hypertrophy induced by weight training does not necessarily increase performance in an isometric strength task different from the training task but involving the same muscle group. The failure of evoked twitch torque to increase despite hypertrophy may further indicate that moderate hypertrophy in the early stage of strength training may not necessarily cause an increase in intrinsic muscle force generating capacity.  相似文献

The acute effects of low-intensity exercise on plasma lipids were assessed in 22 healthy, normolipidaemic volunteers [mean age (SEM) 21.1 (0.2) years] of whom 11 were untrained and 11 endurance trained. Each subject walked for 2 h on a treadmill at a speed selected to elicit 30% [29.8 (3.9)%] of his or her maximal oxygen uptake. All subjects consumed a similar diet, i.e. 48% of energy from carbohydrate, for 2 days prior to the test. Pre-exercise, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol concentration was higher in the trained group than in the untrained group [0.88 (0.06) mmol.l-1 vs 0.73 (0.09) mmol.l-1, P less than 0.05]. The walk elicited an increase in blood lactate concentration (P less than 0.01) but glucose homeostasis was well maintained by both groups. After 2 h of walking total cholesterol had increased by 13 (0.6)% (P less than 0.05). HDL cholesterol concentration increased by 17 (1.6)%, so that the ratio of total to HDL cholesterol was lower after the walk than pre-exercise (P less than 0.05). In the endurance-trained group HDL cholesterol concentration increased progressively, being 7.9 (2.4)% higher after 1 h and 19.7 (1.6)% higher after 2 h. A different response was evident in the untrained group where a rise after the 1st h [25.1 (2.3)%] was followed by a decrease towards pre-exercise values. These results show that one prolonged bout of low-intensity exercise modifies lipoprotein metabolism and hold out the interesting possibility that this response may differ in trained and untrained individuals.  相似文献

The purposes of this study were to 1) determine the effect of concentric isokinetic training on strength and cross-sectional area (CSA) of selected extensor and flexor muscles of the forearm and leg, 2) examine the potential for preferential hypertrophy of individual muscles within a muscle group, 3) identify the location (proximal, middle, or distal level) of hypertrophy within an individual muscle, and 4) determine the effect of unilateral concentric isokinetic training on strength and hypertrophy of the contralateral limbs. Thirteen untrained male college students [mean age 25.1 +/- 6.1 (SD) yr] volunteered to perform six sets of 10 repetitions of extension and flexion of the nondominant limbs three times per week for 8 wk, using a Cybex II isokinetic dynamometer. Pretraining and posttraining peak torque and muscle CSA measurements for both the dominant and nondominant limbs were determined utilizing a Cybex II isokinetic dynamometer and magnetic resonance imaging scanner, respectively. The results indicated significant (P less than 0.0008) hypertrophy in all trained muscle groups as well as preferential hypertrophy of individual muscles and at specific levels. None of the muscles of the contralateral limbs increased significantly in CSA. In addition, significant (P less than 0.0008) increases in peak torque occurred for trained forearm extension and flexion as well as trained leg flexion. There were no significant increases in peak torque, however, for trained leg extension or for any movement in the contralateral limbs. These data suggest that concentric isokinetic training results in significant strength and hypertrophic responses in the trained limbs.  相似文献

The speed-torque relationship of the right knee extensor muscle group was investigated in eight untrained subjects (28 +/- 2 yr old). Torque was measured at a specific knee angle during isokinetic concentric or eccentric actions at nine angular velocities (0.17-3.66 rad/s) and during isometric actions. Activation was by "maximal" voluntary effort or by transcutaneous tetanic electrical stimulation that induced an isometric torque equal to 60% (STIM 1) or 45% (STIM 2) of the voluntary isometric value. Torque increased (P less than 0.05) to 1.4 times isometric as the speed of eccentric actions increased to 1.57 rad/s for STIM 1 and STIM 2. Thereafter, increases in eccentric speed did not further increase torque. Torque did not increase (P greater than 0.05) above isometric for voluntary eccentric actions. As the speed of concentric actions increased from 0.00 to 3.66 rad/s, torque decreased (P less than 0.05) more (P less than 0.05) for both STIM 1 and STIM 2 (two-thirds) than for voluntary activation (one-half). As a result of these responses, torque changed three times as much (P less than 0.05) across speeds of concentric and eccentric actions with artificial (3.4-fold) than voluntary (1.1-fold) activation. The results indicate that with artificial activation the normalized speed-torque relationship of the knee extensors in situ is remarkably similar to that of isolated muscle. The relationship for voluntary activation, in contrast, suggests that the ability of the central nervous system to activate the knee extensors during maximal efforts depends on the speed and type of muscle action performed.  相似文献

Monozygous twin pairs (two female and four male) were used in a strength training study so that one member of each pair served as training subject (TS) and the other members as nonexercising controls (CS). TS trained four times a week for 12 weeks with maximal isometric knee extensions of the right leg. The parameters studied included muscle strength, endurance time, electromyographic activity, and activities of several key enzymes in nonoxidative an oxidative muscle metabolism. The results disclosed that in addition to a 20% increase in isometric knee extension strength in the trained leg of TS, an average increase of 11% was observed in strength of TS untrained leg. CS did not demonstrate any change in muscle strength. Training also included an improvement in the maintenance of a static load of 60% of the pretraining maximum. Increase in the maximum integrated electromyographic activity (IEMG) of the rectus femoris muscle occurred concomitantly with the knee extension strength. Traning also caused reduction in the IEMG/tension ratio at submaximal loads indicating a more econimical usage of the rectus femoris muscles. Muscle biopsies taken from the vastus lateralis muscle showed that the enzyme activities of MDH, SDH, and HK were higher, and LDH and CPK lower in the trained leg as compared to the nontrained control leg of TS or to the values of the untrained member of the twin pair. It is concluded that isometric strength training as used in the present study can cause increased recruitment of the availabel motor unit pool, improved efficiency at submaximal loads, and surprisingly also enchancement of the oxidative metabolism in the muscle.  相似文献

The purpose of this investigation was to determine whether endurance exercise training increases the ability of human skeletal muscle to accumulate glycogen after exercise. Subjects (4 women and 2 men, 31 +/- 8 yr old) performed high-intensity stationary cycling 3 days/wk and continuous running 3 days/wk for 10 wk. Muscle glycogen concentration was measured after a glycogen-depleting exercise bout before and after endurance training. Muscle glycogen accumulation rate from 15 min to 6 h after exercise was twofold higher (P < 0.05) in the trained than in the untrained state: 10.5 +/- 0.2 and 4.5 +/- 1.3 mmol. kg wet wt(-1). h(-1), respectively. Muscle glycogen concentration was higher (P < 0.05) in the trained than in the untrained state at 15 min, 6 h, and 48 h after exercise. Muscle GLUT-4 content after exercise was twofold higher (P < 0.05) in the trained than in the untrained state (10.7 +/- 1.2 and 4.7 +/- 0.7 optical density units, respectively) and was correlated with muscle glycogen concentration 6 h after exercise (r = 0.64, P < 0.05). Total glycogen synthase activity and the percentage of glycogen synthase I were not significantly different before and after training at 15 min, 6 h, and 48 h after exercise. We conclude that endurance exercise training enhances the capacity of human skeletal muscle to accumulate glycogen after glycogen-depleting exercise.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to investigate muscle and tendon properties in highly trained sprinters and their relations to running performance. Fifteen sprinters and 15 untrained subjects participated in this study. Muscle thickness and tendon stiffness of knee extensors and plantar flexors were measured. Sprinter muscle thickness was significantly greater than that of the untrained subjects for plantar flexors, but not for knee extensors (except for the medial side). Sprinter tendon stiffness was significantly lower than that of the untrained subjects for knee extensors, but not for plantar flexors. The best official record of a 100-m race was significantly correlated to the muscle thickness of the medial side for knee extensors. In conclusion, the tendon structures of highly trained sprinters are more compliant than those of untrained subjects for knee extensors, but not for plantar flexors. Furthermore, a thicker medial side of knee extensors was associated with greater sprinting performance.  相似文献

To assess the effects of endurance training on plasma glucose kinetics during moderate-intensity exercise in men, seven men were studied before and after 12 wk of strenuous exercise training (3 days/wk running, 3 days/wk cycling). After priming of the glucose and bicarbonate pools, [U-13C] glucose was infused continuously during 2 h of cycle ergometer exercise at 60% of pretraining peak O2 uptake (VO2) to determine glucose turnover and oxidation. Training increased cycle ergometer peak VO2 by 23% and decreased the respiratory exchange ratio during the final 30 min of exercise from 0.89 +/- 0.01 to 0.85 +/- 0.01 (SE) (P less than 0.001). Plasma glucose turnover during exercise decreased from 44.6 +/- 3.5 mumol.kg fat-free mass (FFM)-1.min-1 before training to 31.5 +/- 4.3 after training (P less than 0.001), whereas plasma glucose clearance (i.e., rate of disappearance/plasma glucose concentration) fell from 9.5 +/- 0.6 to 6.4 +/- 0.8 ml.kg FFM-1.min-1 (P less than 0.001). Oxidation of plasma-derived glucose, which accounted for approximately 90% of plasma glucose disappearance in both the untrained and trained states, decreased from 41.1 +/- 3.4 mumol.kg FFM-1.min-1 before training to 27.7 +/- 4.8 after training (P less than 0.001). This decrease could account for roughly one-half of the total reduction in the amount of carbohydrate utilized during the final 30 min of exercise in the trained compared with the untrained state.  相似文献

Four men isometrically trained their stronger leg for 19 weeks (attempted knee extension against a restraining strap incrementally increasing to 30 brief maximal contractions X 6 wk-1). Five others similarly trained dynamically (repeated knee extension against a 63 N resistance force, incrementally increasing to 300 extensions X 6 wk-1). Before, at regular intervals during training and after de-training (between 7-11 weeks) measurements were made using trained and control legs of: Maximum Voluntary Isometric Contraction (M.V.C.), Endurance at 60% M.V.C., Knee Extension Performance Test (K.E.P.T.) and One-legged Work Test. Isometric training produced a 30% (p less than 0.01) increase in M.V.C. with a 15% (p less than 0.05) increase in the control leg. These changes persisted with some deterioration after the de-training period. Endurance at 60% M.V.C. remained unchanged, even though M.V.C. was increasing in both trained and control legs. There was some evidence that isometric training improved the cardio-vascular response to one-legged exercise. Dynamic training did not result in changes in M.V.C., Endurance at 60% M.V.C. or the One-legged work Test, but K.E.P.T. (time taken for 50 knee extensions at a comfortable pace against 63 N resistance) improved by 33% (p less than 0.01) and 28% (p less than 0.01) in the trained and control legs respectively. Isometric training resulted in similar improvements in performance of K.E.P.T. (28%, p less than 0.05, trained leg; 18%, p less than 0.05 control leg). For similar time spent in training, isometric work appeared more effective than dynamic work in improving the parameters of muscle function, these improvements appeared to be both centrally (C.N.S.) and locally mediated.  相似文献

The purpose of this investigation was to compare the effects of single-set strength training and 3-set strength training during the early phase of adaptation in 18 untrained male subjects (age, 20-30 years). After initial testing, subjects were randomly assigned to either the 3L-1U group (n = 8), which trained 3 sets in leg exercises and 1 set in upper-body exercises, or the 1L-3U group (n = 10), which trained 1 set in leg exercises and 3 sets in upper-body exercises. Testing was conducted at the beginning and at the end of the study and consisted of 2 maximal isometric tests (knee extension and bench press) and 6 maximal dynamic tests (1 repetition maximum [1RM] tests). Subjects trained 3 days per week for 6 weeks. After warm-up, subjects performed 3 leg exercises and 4 upper-body exercises. In both groups, each set consisted of 7 repetitions (reps) with the load supposed to induce muscular failure after the seventh rep (7RM load). After 6 weeks of training, 1RM performance in all training exercises was significantly increased (10-26%, p < 0.01) in both groups. The relative increase in 1RM load in the 3 leg exercises was significantly greater in the 3L-1U group than in the 1L-3U group (21% vs. 14%, p = 0.01). However, the relative increase in 1RM load in the 3 upper-body exercises was similar in the 3L-1U group (16%) and the 1L-3U group (14%). These results show a superior adaptation to 3-set strength training, compared with 1-set strength training, in leg exercises but not in upper-body exercises during the early phase of adaptation.  相似文献

Electrolyte metabolism undergoes significant changes in trained subjects, but it is unknown if it undergoes significant changes in untrained subjects during hypokinesia (decreased movement). The aim of this study was to measure calcium (Ca) changes in trained and untrained subjects during prolonged hypokinesia (HK). Studies were done during 30 d of a pre-HK period and 364 d of a HK period. Forty male trained and untrained volunteers aged 23–26 yr were chosen as subjects. All subjects were equally divided into four groups: trained ambulatory control subjects (TACS), trained hypokinetic subjects (THKS), untrained hypokinetic subjects (UHKS), and untrained ambulatory control subjects (UACS). The THKS and UHKS groups were kept under an average running distance of 0.7 km/d. Fecal Ca excretion, urinary Ca and magnesium (Mg) excretion, serum ionized calcium (CaI), Ca, Mg, intact parathyroid hormone (iPTH) and 1,25 dihydroxyvitamin D [1,25 (OH)2 D] concentration, body weight, and peak oxygen uptake were measured. Fecal Ca loss, urinary Ca and Mg excretion, and serum CaI, Mg, and Ca increased significantly (p ≤ 0.01), whereas serum iPTH and 1,25 (OH)2 D concentration body weight and peak oxygen uptake decreased significantly (p ≤ 0.01) in the THKS and UHKS groups when compared with the TACS and UACS groups. The measured parameters were much greater and much faster in the THKS group than in the UHKS group. By contrast, the corresponding parameters did not change significantly in the TACS and UACS groups when compared with the baseline control values. It was concluded that prolonged HK induces significant fecal, urinary, and serum Ca changes in the hypokinetic subjects when compared with control subjects. However, fecal, urinary, and serum Ca changes were much greater and appeared much faster in the THKS group than the UHKS group.  相似文献

It is well known that ouabain, a specific inhibitor of Na-K ATPase-dependent transport, interferes with renal tubular salt reabsorption. In this study, we employed radiochemical methods to measure the kinetics of [3H]ouabain binding to slices of rabbit renal medulla and high resolution quantitative autoradiography to determine the location and number of cellular binding sites. The kinetics obeyed a simple bimolecular reaction with an association constant of 2.86 +/- 0.63 SD x 10(3) M-1 min-1 and a dissociation constant of 1.46 x 10(-3) min-1, yielding an equilibrium binding constant of 0.51 x 10(-6) M. Binding was highly dependent upon temperature. At a concentration of 10(-6) M, the rate of accumulation between 25 degrees C and 35 degrees C exhibited a Q10 of 1.8. At 0 degree C the rate of ouabain dissociation was negligible. The specificity of binding was demonstrated with increasing potassium concentrations. At a concentration of 1 microM, 6 mM, and 50 mM K+ produced a 2.5- and 7-fold decrease, respectively, in the rate of ouabain accumulation observed at zero K+. Binding was completely inhibited by 1 mM strophanthin K. The major site of ouabain binding was the thick ascending limb; little or no binding was observed in thin limbs and collecting ducts. Moreover, binding was confined to the basolateral membranes. From autoradiographic grain density measurements, it was estimated that each cell contains over 4 x 10(6) ouabain binding sites or Na-K ATPase molecules. These results taken together with physiological and biochemical observations suggest that Na-K ATPase plays a key role in salt reabsorption by this segment.  相似文献

A modified cytochemical assay for [Na-K]ATPase in cryostat sections of kidney was further characterized and used to quantify activity in seven functionally distinct sites along the rat nephron. The activity of [Na-K]ATPase was defined as the difference in ATPase activity in specifically identified tubules contained in serial sections incubated with and without ouabain. Preincubation of sections with ouabain was required for maximal inhibition of [Na-K]ATPase activity in several distal sites. The concentration of ouabain necessary for maximal inhibition of activity was 3.0 mM and half-maximal inhibition was obtained in all regions with 30-100 microM ouabain. In distal sites, [Na-K]ATPase formed a higher proportion of total ATPase activity (60-80 per cent) than in proximal sites (20-40 per cent). Enzyme activity was quantified using two different methods. The first measured activity over the basal region of tubules and gave an index of the concentration of [Na-K]ATPase over the basal lateral infoldings of cells composing the tubule. The second read activity over the entire cross section of tubules and provided an estimate of [Na-K]ATPase per length of tubule. The highest activities over the basal basal region were obtained from tubules of the distal nephron including the inner (MALin) and outer (MALout) medullary ascending limb, distal convoluted tubule (DCT) and connecting segment (CS). Lower activities were obtained in proximal convoluted (PCT) tubules, proximal straight (PS) tubules and the papillary collecting duct (PD). Distal convoluted tubules contained the highest activity per length of tubule. Other sites contained lower levels of activity in the following order: MALin greater than MALout greater than PCT greater than PD greater than PS. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of unilateral isometric leg extension strength training on the strength and integrated electromyogram (IEMG) of both the trained and untrained limbs at multiple joint angles. A training (TRN) group [nine women; mean (SD) age, 20(1) years] exercised for 6 weeks with isometric leg extensions at 80% of maximal isometric torque. A control (CTL) group [eight women; 21(1) years] did not exercise. The training was performed three times per week on a Cybex II isokinetic dynamometer at a joint angle where the lever arm was 0.79 rad below the horizontal plane. The subjects were tested pre- and posttraining for maximal unilateral isometric torque in both limbs at joint angles of zero, 0.26, 0.79,1.31, and 1.57 rad below the horizontal plane. Bipolar surface electrodes were used to record the IEMG of the vastus lateralis (VL) and vastus medialis (VM) during the isometric tests. Three univariate (torque, IEMG-VL, and IEMG-VM) four-way (group x time x limb x angle) mixed factorial ANOVAs were used to analyze the data. The results indicated joint angle specificity for isometric torque in the TRN group only, with significant increases in torque at 0.79 (P = 0.0004) and 1.31 (P = 0.0039) rad. No significant increases in torque were found in the untrained limb of the TRN group or in either limb of the CTL group. Similarly, there were no significant changes in IEMG as a result of the training for the VL or VM. The joint-angle-specific strength increases without concomitant increases in IEMG were hypothesized to result from joint-angle-specific decreases in antagonistic co-contraction and/or preferential hypertropy of the quadriceps femoris at specific levels of the muscle group.  相似文献
