Four new species of Penicillium Link ex Fries are described and illustrated. Two of them have been recovered from the air of Madrid, one from sandy soil, and one from leaves of Zacintha verrucosa Gaertner. They clearly differ from all species of the genus described so far and are, therefore, described and proposed as new taxa: Penicillium cordubense sp. nov., Penicillium gaditanum sp. nov, Penicillium zacinthae sp. nov., and Penicillium hispalense sp. nov.  相似文献

A synnematous species of Penicillium, P. calidicanium, is described and illustrated. The fungus was isolated from soil in Taiwan. Penicillium calidicanium can be placed in subgenus Biverticillium because of its symmetrical, biverticillate penicilli, ampulliform to acerose phialides, and ability to produce abundant synnemata in Czapek yeast extract agar, malt extract agar, and Czapek's solution agar. It is close to P. duclauxii and P. vulpinum, but differs in colony morphology, growth rate, morphology of the synnemata, and ornamentation of the conidial wall.  相似文献

Seven new species of Penicillium Link ex Fries and a new variety of Penicillium novae-caledoniae Smith are described and illustrated. Four of them have been recovered from the air in Madrid, Spain, one from beech leaves litter in a beech forest near Nancy, France, two from sandy soils in Madrid, and one from an andosol in the Spanish Province of Navarra. They clearly differ from all species of the genus described so far and are, therefore, described and proposed as new taxa: Penicillium turolense sp. nov., Penicillium murcianum sp. nov., Penicillium ovetense sp. nov., Penicillium asturianum sp. nov., Penicillium onobense sp. nov., Penicillium castellonense sp. nov., Penicillium aragonense sp. nov., and Penicillium novae-caledoniae Smith, var. album var. nov.  相似文献

A new species of Penicillium is described and illustrated. It is represented by two isolates recovered from sandy soils on the shores of Lake Sarmiento, in the Chilean Tierra del Fuego. The new species clearly differs from all species of the genus described so far among the monoverticillate ones, especially by the unique wall ornamentation pattern as viewed with the SEM. It is therefore, described and proposed as a new taxon: Penicillium lacussarmientei sp. nov.  相似文献

This paper documents the Penicillium species associated with the naturally occurring plants and animals in the Windmill Islands, East Antarctica. An attempt has been made to establish the species associations between the Penicillia and the mosses and birds. The species found are discussed briefly in terms of taxonomy and biological significance, and a new species, Penicillium antarcticum, is described. Accepted: 27 July 1998  相似文献

Fifty-eight Alternaria isolates representing 10 species or species-groups and 66 Penicillium isolates representing 18 species were examined for their growth response to the combined effects of water activity, temperature and pH in an extended Central Composite Design. Growth responses were recorded as colony diameter after one and two weeks of growth and analysed using different multivariate statistical analyses. The isolates, when analysed by Principal Component Analysis, clustered according to their genus and to some degree to species or species groups and not according to substratum as excepted. Soft Independent Modelling of Class Analogy and Response Surface Analysis showed that growth responses or growth profiles may be used as classification tool. Partial Least Squares Regression showed that a combination of two different media based on Dichloran Rose bengal Yeast Extract Sucrose agar incubated at two different temperatures were enough to get genus segregation and to some extent species segregation. The results also showed that water activity, temperature and pH interact strongly in their effect on growth rates and that the squared products (optima) of water activity, temperature and pH for each isolate were important for modelling the data sufficiently.  相似文献

Penicillium dravuni is a new monoverticillate, sclerotium-forming species that was isolated from the alga Dictyosphaeria versluyii collected in Dravuni, Fiji. This species morphologically is similar to P. turbatum in the P. turbatum subseries of the P. thomii series of the Monoverticillata. The nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer region exhibited 97% sequence similarity to known Penicillium spp. in the GenBank database. Phylogenetic analyses revealed that P. dravuni is related most closely to Eupenicillium brefeldianum, E. levitum, E. reticulosporum, E. javanicum, E. ehrlichii and PF simplicissimum. However this new species shares only a distant ancestor with this clade because it branches by itself early in the lineage. P. dravuni also is known to produce the secondary metabolites dictyosphaeric acids A and B and carviolin.  相似文献

The new species Penicillium discolor, frequently isolated from nuts, vegetables and cheese is described. It is characterised by rough, dark green conidia, synnemateous growth on malt agar and the production of the secondary metabolites chaetoglobosins A, B and C, palitantin, cyclopenin, cyclopenol, cyclopeptin, dehydrocyclopeptin, viridicatin and viridicatol. It also produces the mouldy smelling compounds geosmin and 2-methyl-isoborneol, and a series of specific orange to red pigments on yeast extract sucrose agar, hence the epithet discolor. P. discolor resembles P. echinulatum morphologically but on basis of the secondary metabolites is also related to P. expansum, P. solitum and P. crustosum.  相似文献

We describe three new fungicolous species on the basis of phenotypic and phylogenetic differences from known species. Penicillium thiersii, P. angulare and Penicillium decaturense are described. Penicillium thiersii phenotypically is identified on the basis of several characteristics including growth rates, vesicle size and condium shape and roughening. Penicillium angulare is related most closely to P. adametzioides but differs from it by restricted growth rates and conidiophores greater than 60 μm in length. Penicillium decaturense is related most closely to P. miczynskii but differs from that species by growth rate, minimum growth temperature and pigment production on MEA. Multilocus phylogenetic analysis confirmed the genetic distinctiveness of P. decaturense and the closely related species P. miczynskii, P. chrzaszczii and P. manginii. Penicillium rivolii is a synonym of P. waksmanii on the basis of this analysis. Analysis of the EF-1α gene shows rapid changes of position, number and length of introns between the species, suggesting a recent evolutionary origin for the introns.  相似文献

Summary Dictyoarthrinopsis kelleyi spec. nov.,Microsporon boullardii spec. nov. andSporotrichum keratinolyticum spec. nov. are highly keratinolytic fungi, which were isolated from two soil samples (about 50 kg in total) collected in Conakry (Guinea, Africa). These species grow readily on hairs on Sabouraud-cycloheximidagar. They grow on the depurated and autoclaved hairs in distilled water in vitro with production of numerous conidia.  相似文献

Six new species in five genera of Rhodophyta are described. A new combination for Polyopes hakalauensis is also proposed. These taxa were encountered while preparing a manual of marine red algae of the Hawaiian Islands. Among the Halymeniales, two blade-like species of Halymenia, H. cromwellii sp. nov. and H. stipi-tata sp. nov., are distinguished from other species by habit and anatomical differences, including the possession of a stipe by the second. Halymenia hakalauensis Tilden 1902 is transferred to Polyopes as P. hakalauensis (Tilden) Abbott, replacing P. hawaiiensis Kajimura which is considered a synonym. A new species of Prionitis, P. corymbifera sp. nov., shows a corymbose branching pattern different from the mostly pinnate to subdichotomous branching of Japanese and Californian species. In the Gigartinales, Chondracanthus okamurae Abbott is named for a specimen which Okamura included in his understanding of Gigartina (now Chondracanthus tenellus), but which has terete axes, differing from C. tenellus (Harvey) Hommersand which is com-planate throughout. Chondracanthus intermedius (Sur-ingar) Hommersand is placed in synonymy with C. tenellus. The occurrence of C. tenellus in Hawai'i is a new distribution record from Asia. Three new species are added to the Ceramiales, Ceramium tranquillum Meneses (Ceramiaceae), Dasya kristeniae sp. nov. and Dasya murrayana Abbott & Millar (Dasyaceae). Distinctive features of Ceramium tranquillum are internodes that are three to five times longer than the height of nodes, and nodes that never project beyond the diameter of the internodes, giving straight margins except when fertile. Dasya kristeniae is a diminutive epiphyte which is nearly ecorticate, with tetrasporangial stichidia that are rectangular having apices that are curved or nodding, and cystocarps that have flaring ostioles above a constricted pericarp. Dasya murrayana was earlier misidentified with Dasya iyengarii Børgesen, and re-examination of those plants show continuous cortication throughout, where cortication is almost completely lacking in D. iyengarii except near the base. Dasya murrayana has a tufted habit, with indeterminate branches about the same sizes as the main axes, the plants growing on rock, whereas plants of D. iyengarii are not tufted, with indeterminate branches attenuate, and an epiphytic habit.  相似文献

A new species of Penicillium Link ex Fries is described and illustrated. It is represented by twenty six isolates recovered from soil at twenty six different locations at the southern part of the Paul Kruger National Park in South Africa. It clearly differs from all species of the genus described so far among the Biverticillata-Symmetrica Section, and it is therefore described and proposed as a new taxon: Penicillium krugerii sp. nov.  相似文献
