The effect of the elemental composition of the anode material on the parameters and X-ray spectrum of micropinch discharge plasma have been studied using a low-inductance vacuum spark device. It is shown that the plasma electron temperature T e and intensity of hard X-ray emission increase with increasing nuclear charge number Z of the anode material of the discharge system.  相似文献

Results are presented from studies of the behavior of hard X-ray emission in discharges with current disruptions in the DAMAVAND and TVD tokamaks. The current disruptions are caused by either an MHD instability or the instability related to the vertical displacement of the plasma column. Experiments were conducted at a fixed value of the safety factor at the plasma boundary (q a ? 2.3). Experimental data show that, during a disruption caused by an MHD instability, hard X-ray emission is suppressed by this instability if the amplitude of the magnetic field fluctuations exceeds a certain level. If the disruption is caused by the instability related to the vertical displacement of the plasma column, then hard X-ray emission is observed at the instant of disruption. The experimental results show that the physical processes resulting in the generation and suppression of runaway electron beams are almost identical in large and small tokamaks.  相似文献

Results are presented from experimental studies of the plasma formation dynamics in a Z-pinch produced from a cylindrical microporous agar-agar load. The experiments were performed on the S-300 facility at a current of 2 MA and current rise time of 100 ns. To enhance the energy concentration, a deuterated polyethylene neck with a mass density of 50–75 μg/cm3 and diameter of 1–2 mm was made in the central part of the load. The spatiotemporal characteristics of the Z-pinch were studied using an optical streak camera and fast frame photography in the optical and soft X-ray spectral ranges. X-ray emission was detected using semiconductor and vacuum diodes, and neutron emission was studied by means of the time-of-flight method. It is found that, in the course of continuous plasma production, hot spots with a diameter of 100 μm form in the pinch plasma. The hot spots emit short soft X-ray pulses with a duration of 2–4 ns, as well as neutron pulses with an average neutron energy of about 2.45 MeV. The maximum neutron yield was found to be 4.5 × 109 neutrons per shot. The scenario of hot spot formation is adequately described by two-dimensional MHD simulations.  相似文献

This work presents results of experimental studies of the spectral and photometric characteristics of optical radiation generated by a pulse-periodic microwave discharge close to ECR (2.45 GHz, average power of up to 200 W, argon pressure of 10–4–10–1 Torr). Under these conditions, dense (n e = 1010–4 × 1011 cm–3) low-temperature (T e = 3–5 eV) plasma is produced in the working volume at an ionization rate of 10–3–5 × 10–5. It is shown that the increase in the electron density near the upper boundary of the pressure range at a constant level of the input power leads to a drastic change in the type and spectral composition of plasma radiation and a jumplike increase in the light flux. The results of probe and optical measurements made it possible to determine the range of the operating parameters defining the character and parameters of the radiation processes under study.  相似文献

Results are presented from the studies of the magnetic implosion of a tungsten wire liner onto an aluminum wire at currents of 2.0–2.6 MA. The experiments were carried out in the S-300 high-power pulsed facility at the Russian Research Centre Kurchatov Institute. The liner is composed of 50 wires 6 μm in diameter and 1 cm in length, which are equally spaced on a circle 1 cm in diameter. An aluminum wire 120 μm in diameter is positioned at the array axis. The liner implosion was accompanied by the generation of VUV and soft X-ray emission. The parameters of the pinch plasma produced during the liner implosion onto the aluminum wire were determined from the time-resolved spectral measurements by a five-channel polychromator. The ion and electron densities turned out to be equal to n i≈4×1019 cm−3 and n e≈4×1020 cm−3, respectively, and the electron temperature was T e≈40 eV. The radiation energy measured in the range 50–600 eV was 2–10 kJ. The sources of soft X-ray emission in hydrogen-and helium-like aluminum lines were the bright spots and local objects (clouds) formed in the plasma corona at an electron temperature of 200–500 eV and electron density of 1021–1022 cm−3. The possibility of both the generation of an axial magnetic field during the liner implosion and the conversion of the energy of this field into soft X-ray emission is discussed. __________ Translated from Fizika Plazmy, Vol. 28, No. 6, 2002, pp. 514–521. We present the optical emission studies of the ammonium nitrate plasma produced by the fundamental (1064 nm) and second (532 nm) harmonics of a Q-switched Nd: YAG laser. The target material was placed in front of the laser beam in an open atmospheric air. The spectrum reveals numerous transitions of neutral nitrogen. We have studied the spatial behavior of the plasma temperature (T e ) and electron number density (N e ) determined using the Boltzmann plot method and Stark broadened line profiles, respectively. Besides, we have studied the variation of the plasma parameters as a function of the laser irradiance.  相似文献

Results are presented from experimental studies on the implosion of arrays made of wires and metalized fibers under the action of current pulses with an amplitude of up to 3.5 MA at the Angara-5-1 facility. The effect of the parameters of an additional linear mass of bismuth and gold deposited on the wires/fibers is investigated. It is examined how the material of the wires/fibers and the metal coating deposited on them affect the penetration of the plasma with the frozen-in magnetic field into a cylindrical array. Information on the plasma production rate $\dot m_{Bi}$ for different metals is obtained by analyzing optical streak images of imploding arrays. The plasma production rate for cylindrical arrays made of the kapron fibers coated with bismuth is determined. For the initial array radius of R 0 = 1 cm and discharge current of I = 1 MA, the plasma production rate is found to be $\dot m_{Bi} \approx 0.095 \pm 0.015$ μg/(cm2 ns).  相似文献

High-density (n > 1012 cm?3) argon-mercury plasma produced by a short (t ~ 20 μs) high-power pulsed discharge in argon with an admixture of mercury vapor at a discharge current of ~50 A, an argon pressure of ~4 mm Hg, and a mercury vapor pressure of ~10?3 mm Hg was studied using optical spectroscopy and radio physics methods. It is found that the lifetime of this plasma after the end of the discharge pulse is up to 10?2 s. It is shown that such an abnormally long lifetime of such an afterglow plasma, as compared to the plasma of an argon discharge without an admixture of mercury vapor, is related to the long residence time of atoms and ions of both argon and mercury in highly excited states due to chemi-ionization processes involving long-lived metastable argon ions. It is suggested that dissociative recombination of highly excited molecular ions of argon play an important role in the transfer of excitation to argon atoms and ions that are close to autoionization states.  相似文献

A new method for measuring the gas-kinetic pressure in pulsed plasma flows is developed in which an acoustic line in the form of a thin rod built in the optical scheme of a laser interferometer is used as a detector. The time evolution of the gas-kinetic pressure in particle flows emerging from a micropinch discharge (a low-inductance vacuum spark) was studied. Due to the wide dynamic range of the method (~105), it can be applied in various plasma devices with a wide range of parameters.  相似文献

A method is proposed for determining the electron density N e and the electric field E in the non-equilibrium nitrogen plasma of a low-pressure discharge from the spectra of the second positive system of N2. The method is based on measuring the specific energy deposition in the plasma and the distribution of nitrogen molecules over the vibrational levels of the C 3Π u state, as well as on modeling this distribution for a given energy deposition. The fitting parameters of the model are the values of N e and E. A kinetic model of the processes governing the steady-state density of the C 3Π u nitrogen molecules is developed. The testing of this method showed it to be quite reliable. The method is of particular interest for diagnosing electrodeless discharges and provides detailed information on the processes occurring in the discharge plasma. Preliminary data are obtained on the plasma parameters in a cavity microwave discharge and an electrode microwave discharge. In particular, it is found that the electric field in an electrode microwave discharge in nitrogen is lower than that in a hydrogen discharge. This effect is shown to be produced by stepwise and associative processes with the participation of excited particles in nitrogen.  相似文献

Chlorosomes from green photosynthetic bacteria are large photosynthetic antennae containing self-assembling aggregates of bacteriochlorophyll c, d, or e. The pigments within chlorosomes are organized in curved lamellar structures. Aggregates with similar optical properties can be prepared in vitro, both in polar as well as non-polar solvents. In order to gain insight into their structure we examined hexane-induced aggregates of purified bacteriochlorophyll c by X-ray scattering. The bacteriochlorophyll c aggregates exhibit scattering features that are virtually identical to those of native chlorosomes demonstrating that the self-assembly of these pigments is fully encoded in their chemical structure. Thus, the hexane-induced aggregates constitute an excellent model to study the effects of chemical structure on assembly. Using bacteriochlorophyllides transesterified with different alcohols we have established a linear relationship between the esterifying alcohol length and the lamellar spacing. The results provide a structural basis for lamellar spacing variability observed for native chlorosomes from different species. A plausible physiological role of this variability is discussed. The X-ray scattering also confirmed the assignments of peaks, which arise from the crystalline baseplate in the native chlorosomes.  相似文献

New experimental data on the laser irradiation of low-density porous materials in the Mishen facility are presented and discussed. A wide set of optical and X-ray diagnostics was used to analyze the physical processes in porous media with different microstructures and specific densities of 1–30 mg/cm3 exposed to laser pulses with λ=1.054 µm, τ=3 ns, and I=1013–1014 W/cm2. The features of laser absorption and scattering and the processes of energy transfer in porous media were investigated for different average densities, thicknesses, and microstructures of the targets and different incidence angles of the laser beam. It was found that the material microstructure (chaotic or quasi-ordered) significantly affected the formation and dynamics of a plasma produced inside the irradiated samples that model the components of the advanced targets used in inertial confinement fusion research.  相似文献

Results are presented from investigations of the nonmonotonic spatial distributions of charge-exchange neutral fluxes and optical radiation from plasma in the DAMAVAND tokamak. It is shown that, during ohmic heating of the plasma, the regions with enhanced confinement of both the background plasma particles and heavy impurity ions arise near rational magnetic surfaces with q = 1 and 2. These regions are characterized by enhanced emission of accelerated charge-exchange neutrals and optical radiation from impurity ions.  相似文献

A study of the process of implosion of a cylindrical tungsten wire array by electrical and optical methods shows that it involves two phases. In the first phase, the plasma is produced from the dense wire cores under the action of the heat flux from the current-carrying plasma. This plasma then fills the internal space of the liner array. The measured inductance of the liner and its visible diameter vary only slightly in this phase. During the second phase, the total material of the liner is compressed toward the axis and the inductance of the discharge gap increases. The process of the implosion of wire arrays is studied by analyzing the electric parameters (current and voltage) of the load in the Angara-5-1 facility. The time behavior of the load inductance, the average current radius, and the start time of the liner compression are determined. The compression start time determined from the visible size of the liner is found to coincide with that determined from electric measurements. The compression ratio of the liner in terms of the average current radius turns out to be lower than that measured by optical and X-ray diagnostics. The reason is that, by the instant of maximum compression, only a portion of the current flows at the periphery of the initial wire array.  相似文献

The effect of an RF field on a steady-state beam-plasma discharge with a plane electrode placed parallel to a sheetlike electron beam is studied experimentally. The plasma parameters were measured by a single probe, and the electron distribution function was determined with the use of an electrostatic analyzer. The energy and current of the electron beam were E B=2.5 keV and J B=0.05–1.5 A, respectively. The working pressure was p=2×10?5–10?3 torr. The frequency of the external RF field was 13.56 MHz. Both the steady-state regimes in which the RF field had no effect on the plasma parameters and regimes with a pronounced effect of the RF field were observed. The experiments show that the regime of the discharge depends strongly on the plasma density and the magnetic field. The parametric instability is studied theoretically in the weak-turbulence approximation. It is shown that, due to the decay nature of the spectrum of plasma oscillations, the onset of instability is accompanied by the transfer of the energy of fluctuations over the spectrum, from the pump frequency toward its harmonics.  相似文献

The influence of an external magnetic field on the performance of a high-impedance plasma opening switch is studied experimentally. A 1.5-fold increase in the output voltage of a plasma opening switch operating in the erosion mode is achieved by applying an external magnetic field. The magnetic field strength and the parameters of the plasma opening switch at which the maximum output voltage is attained are determined. It is shown experimentally that the predicted dependence of the maximum output voltage on the Marx generator voltage, U POS [MV]=3.6 (U MG [MV])4/7, is confirmed experimentally.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate the concentrations of copper, iron and zinc in blood serum of cats experimentally infected with Trypanosoma evansi. Animals were divided into two groups: control and infected with T. evansi. The animals were infected with 108 trypomastigotes each and parasitemia was estimated daily for 56 days by microscopic examination of smears. Hematological and biochemical parameters were evaluated for monitoring of the disease. Serum metal levels were determined in blood samples collected at days 7, 28 and 56 of the experiment. Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry was used to measure the levels of copper, iron and zinc. Significant differences were observed among groups (P < 0.05). Increased levels of copper and decreased iron and zinc levels were observed. A decrease in the number of red blood cells was also observed 7 days after inoculation. Biochemical parameters were not altered. Therefore, the infection by T. evansi might alter the serum metal levels, causing metabolic disturbances in cats.  相似文献

The phenomenon of magnetic flux breakthrough into a wire array during its implosion was studied experimentally at the Angara-5-1 facility. It is shown that breakthroughs develop in the final stage of plasma production from the wire material and occur near the initial wire position. The spatial distributions of the azimuthal magnetic field within tungsten, molybdenum, copper, and aluminum wire arrays were studied using magnetic probes. The distributions of the azimuthal magnetic field B φ(z, t) along the array height in different stages of implosion were measured, and the characteristic dimensions of regions with a nonuniform magnetic field that appear during magnetic flux breakthroughs at the outer boundary of the wire array plasma were determined. The dimensions of these regions are compared with those of the regions with depressed plasma radiation observed in frame and time-integrated X-ray images. The dynamics of the distribution B φ(z, t) in regions with a nonuniform magnetic field during breakthroughs of the azimuthal magnetic flux is compared with that of the spatial distribution of pinch radiation in the frame X-ray images in different stages of implosion. The experimental data on the characteristics of spatially nonuniform breakthroughs of the magnetic flux into the wire array are analyzed using the plasma rainstorm model proposed by V.V. Aleksandrov et al. (JETP 97, 745 (2003)). The plasma density in the region of magnetic flux breakthrough is estimated.  相似文献

Angiopoietin-like proteins, ANGPTL3, ANGPTL4, and ANGPTL8, are involved in regulating plasma lipids. In vitro and animal-based studies point to LPL and endothelial lipase (EL, LIPG) as key targets of ANGPTLs. To examine the ANGPTL mechanisms for plasma lipid modulation in humans, we pursued a genetic mimicry analysis of enhancing or suppressing variants in the LPL, LIPG, lipase C hepatic type (LIPC), ANGPTL3, ANGPTL4, and ANGPTL8 genes using data on 248 metabolic parameters derived from over 110,000 nonfasted individuals in the UK Biobank and validated in over 13,000 overnight fasted individuals from 11 other European populations. ANGPTL4 suppression was highly concordant with LPL enhancement but not HL or EL, suggesting ANGPTL4 impacts plasma metabolic parameters exclusively via LPL. The LPL-independent effects of ANGPTL3 suppression on plasma metabolic parameters showed a striking inverse resemblance with EL suppression, suggesting ANGPTL3 not only targets LPL but also targets EL. Investigation of the impact of the ANGPTL3-ANGPTL8 complex on plasma metabolite traits via the ANGPTL8 R59W substitution as an instrumental variable showed a much higher concordance between R59W and EL activity than between R59W and LPL activity, suggesting the R59W substitution more strongly affects EL inhibition than LPL inhibition. Meanwhile, when using a rare and deleterious protein-truncating ANGPTL8 variant as an instrumental variable, the ANGPTL3-ANGPTL8 complex was very LPL specific. In conclusion, our analysis provides strong human genetic evidence that the ANGPTL3-ANGPTL8 complex regulates plasma metabolic parameters, which is achieved by impacting LPL and EL. By contrast, ANGPTL4 influences plasma metabolic parameters exclusively via LPL.  相似文献
