The flexion-extension mobility of the thoracic spine was studied by examining 120 patients who had no complaints about the thoracic spine. Its quantitative characteristics that assess the contribution of some segments to the movements of the thoracic spine were developed. Sexual differences of the developed quantitative characteristics of the motor function of the thoracic spine were defined. The specific features of changes in the motor function were analyzed in adult females and males.  相似文献

The goal of this study was to determine when fetal breathing movements (FBMs) commence in the rat and to characterize age-dependent changes of FBMs in utero. These data provide a frame of reference for parallel in vitro studies of the cellular, synaptic, and network properties of the perinatal rat respiratory system. Ultrasound recordings were made from unanesthetized Sprague-Dawley rats from embryonic (E) day 15 (E15) to E20. Furthermore, the effects of respiratory stimulants (doxapram and aminophylline) and hypoxia on FBMs were studied. Single FBMs, occurring at a very low frequency (approximately 8 FBMs/h), commenced at E16. The incidence of single FBMs increased to approximately 80 FBMs/h by E20. Episodes of clustered rhythmic FBMs were first observed at E18 (approximately 40 FBMs/h). The incidence of episodic clustered FBMs increased to approximately 300 FMBs/h by E20, with the duration of each episode ranging from approximately 40 to 180 s. Doxapram, presumably acting to stimulate carotid body receptors, did not increase FBMs until E20, when the incidence of episodic clustered FBMs increased twofold. Aminophylline, a central-acting stimulant, caused an increase in episodic clustered FBMs after E17, reaching significance at E20 (3-fold increase). Exposing the dam to 10% O(2) caused a rapid, marked suppression of FBMs (5-fold decrease) that was readily reversed on exposure to room air.  相似文献

Respiratory abdominal movements during vocalization were measured in awake squirrel monkeys during spontaneous and playback-induced vocal activity. Large vocalization-correlated respiratory movements (VCRM) starting before vocalization were observed during several call types, such as peeping, trilling, cackling and err-chuck. Purring, in contrast, was accompanied by only small VCRM that started late after vocal onset. VCRM during trilling, a call with marked frequency modulation, showed a modulation in the rhythm of the frequency changes. A correlation with amplitude modulation was also present but more variable. As high frequencies need a higher lung pressure for production than low frequencies, the modulation of VCRM seems to serve to optimize the lung pressure in relation to the vocalization frequency. The modulation, furthermore, may act as a mechanism to produce different trill variants. During err-chucks and staccato peeps, which show a large amplitude modulation, a non-modulated VCRM occurred. In acute experiments on pregnant sows under sodium pentobarbitone anaesthesia, acid base balance, oxygenation and plasma metabolite concentrations were well maintained in the dam and all fetuses which remained undisturbed in utero, irrespective of the duration of the experiment. Fetal liver glycogen concentrations were also unaffected by the time of removal of the fetus. By contrast, intravascular catheterization and withdrawal of blood led to fetal hyperglycaemia and depletion of hepatic glycogen although blood gas and pH values were not changed by these procedures. In the 1 1/2--2 h sampling period following catheterization the normal positive umbilical venous-arterial differences in plasma glucose and lactate generally became reversed. These changes were prevented by the administration of hexamethonium (10--15 mg . kg-1 i.v.) but the drug did not block the fall in hepatic glycogen in catheterized fetuses. Both adrenaline and noradrenaline, which were each infused intravenously at 2.7--3.9 or 0.6--0.9 microgram . kg-1 . min-1, resulted in fetal hyperglycaemia and lacticacidemia together with a fall in arterial blood pH; hepatic glycogen concentrations in these fetuses were also reduced. The apparent sensitivity of the glycogenolytic mechanism to surgical trauma and haemorrhage in the fetal piglet is discussed in relation to findings in other species.  相似文献

Fetal movements in the uterus are a natural part of development and are known to play an important role in normal musculoskeletal development. However, very little is known about the biomechanical stimuli that arise during movements in utero, despite these stimuli being crucial to normal bone and joint formation. Therefore, the objective of this study was to create a series of computational steps by which the forces generated during a kick in utero could be predicted from clinically observed fetal movements using novel cine-MRI data of three fetuses, aged 20–22 weeks. A custom tracking software was designed to characterize the movements of joints in utero, and average uterus deflection of \(6.95 \pm 0.41\) mm due to kicking was calculated. These observed displacements provided boundary conditions for a finite element model of the uterine environment, predicting an average reaction force of \(0.52 \pm 0.15\) N generated by a kick against the uterine wall. Finally, these data were applied as inputs for a musculoskeletal model of a fetal kick, resulting in predicted maximum forces in the muscles surrounding the hip joint of approximately 8 N, while higher maximum forces of approximately 21 N were predicted for the muscles surrounding the knee joint. This study provides a novel insight into the closed mechanical environment of the uterus, with an innovative method allowing elucidation of the biomechanical interaction of the developing fetus with its surroundings.  相似文献

10 to 20% of [1-14C] palmitate injected into pregnant guinea pigs was recovered in lipids of their fetuses. From these data and the rate of transport of palmitate in maternal blood, it appears that placental transport of free fatty acids can account for the accumulation of lipids in late gestational fetuses. About 80% of the labeled palmitate in the fetus appeared initially in lipids of the liver. 14C appeared in plasma triglyceride fatty acids after a few minutes and subsequently accumulated in lipids of white and brown adipose tissue, suggesting that much of the palmitate deposited in adipose tissue were derived from hepatogenous triglyceride fatty acids. By contrast, 14C was usually maximal in heart and carcass lipids before it appeared in plasma triglyceride fatty acids. Lipoprotein lipase activity in fetal adipose tissue was low, and activity of cofactor protein of lipoprotein lipase in fetal blood plasma was much lower than that observed in other mammalian species. On the basis of these and earlier observations, it is concluded that the accumulation of triglycerides in liver and blood plasma of fetal guinea pigs during late gestation is at least partly the result of the large uptake of maternally derived free fatty acids by the fetal liver accompanied by rapid synthesis and secretion of triglyceride-rich very low density lipoproteins into the blood. However, limited uptake of triglyceride fatty acids in adipose tissue may contribute to the fatty liver and hyperlipemia.  相似文献

The fetal respiratory and electrocortical effects of 0.6 microgram to 600 micrograms of morphine, administered into the lateral cerebral ventricle, have been studied in chronically catheterised, unanaesthetized fetal sheep at 115-135 days gestation. Morphine at 0.6 microgram had no effect on breathing movements or electrocorticographic activity, and at 6 micrograms induced a period of apnoea (43-122 min) but had no effect on electrocortical activity. Intravenous naloxone (2 mg bolus and infusion of 2 mg/kg/h for 2 h) to the fetus had no effect on this apnoea. Morphine at 60 micrograms induced an initial period of apnoea (30-65 min) followed by episodic but significantly deep breathing movements with no effect on electrocortical activity and at 600 micrograms induced an initial period of apnoea (22-95 min) which was followed by deep, irregular and continuous (126-302 min) breathing movements. During the apnoea electrocortical activity initially remained cyclic, but as apnoea progressed there was a gradual reduction in the voltage of the electrocorticogram to a low voltage state. Intravenous naloxone (2 mg bolus and infusion of 2 mg/kg/h for 2 h) reversed both the respiratory and electrocortical effects. The hyperventilation was also inhibited by hypoxia. Naloxone alone had no effect on fetal breathing activity.  相似文献

In anaesthetised pig the intravenous perfusion of 2 micrograms/Kg/min/4 min of PGI2 induces within 30' respiratory changes that spontaneously disappear after perfusion. The PGI2 induces a decrease of respiratory frequency while total pulmonary resistance increases significantly. This changes of pattern of breathing are correlated to tonus of vagus nerve and after vagosimpathectomy are not present. The relationship of tidal volume/frequency has been evaluated according to the blood pressure variation.  相似文献

Summary Dopamine, norepinephrine and epinephrine were measured by radioenzymatic assay in blood plasma samples drawn from the umbilical arteries of 30 anaesthetised Landrace pig fetuses. Just prior to term, the concentrations of dopamine (0.46±0.14 ng·ml–1) and norepinephrine (1.74±0.60 ng·mg–1) were lower than earlier in gestation, whereas epinephrine concentrations at term (0.80±0.31 ng·ml–1) were similar to those at mid-gestation, intervening stages of gestation having higher levels of plasma epinephrine. Fetal hypoxia was induced by clamping the umbilical cord for 2 min and the catecholamines determined in arterial blood samples immediately thereafter, then again 3 min after removal of the clamp. Inconsistent effects of cord clamping on catecholamine levels were seen at 55 days, but thereafter, in all but one instance, the hormone levels were increased. Fetuses near term tended to respond less than fetuses at 75 and 96 days gestation (term=114±1 day). Catecholamines were also present in the circulation of fetuses decapitated at 42 days gestation and studied at 109±1 days. The average concentrations of dopamine (1.12±0.27 ng·ml–1) and norepinephrine (8.23±3.04 ng·ml–1) were greater than in intact fetuses, the plasma epinephrine levels being comparable to, or slightly higher than, those in intact fetuses. The results demonstrate that catecholamines are present in the circulation of the intact and decapitated pig fetus and that the actual concentrations and the type of response to umbilical cord clamping are dependent on gestation age.  相似文献
