The leaf cuticular waxes of six Salix clones (one Salix miyabeana, one Salix dasyclados, one Salix eriocephala, two Salix purpurea, and one interspecific hybrid of Salix eriocephala x interior) with different biomass productivities were characterized by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Total wax content ranged from 6.3 to 16.8 microg cm(-2), and two distinct patterns of wax were measured. The wax from leaves of S. dasyclados 'SV1' differed from all other clones and was dominated by fatty acids (42%), high concentrations of n-alkanes (25%) and n-alcohols (28%), with low n-aldehyde content (4%). All other clones produced cuticular wax dominated by n-alcohols (32-51%), particularly 1-hexacosanol, with fatty acids (14-37%) and n-aldehydes (19-26%) present in lower abundances. Clones of Salix grown under identical environmental conditions produce noticeably different amounts of cuticular wax. In contrast to previous studies of Salix, total wax content was independent of biomass productivity, measured as basal area, suggesting that wax production is not directly linked with woody biomass production by shrub willows under these site conditions.  相似文献

The biological conditions in the transition zone adjacent to the heartwood boundary are briefly described and some properties of extractives are given. As one of the dominant plantations in north and central China, poplar was considered as the uppermost wood raw materials, however, the chemical constituents of poplar wood weren’t effectively used by high added value. Therefore, the molecules of wood extractives in Populus lasiocarpa and Populus tomentosa were extracted and studied to further utilize the bio-resources. The results showed that the LD-010, LD-021, LD-150, LD-174 wood extractives were identified as having 3, 24, 3 27 components, respectively. P. lasiocarpa wood was fit to extract 2,4-hexadiyne, 1,3,3-trimethyl-2-hydroxymethyl-3,3-dimethyl-4-(3-methylbut-2-enyl)-cyclohexene, and P. tomentosa wood was fit to extract 1,5-hexadien-3-yne, (all-E)-2,6,10,15,19,23-hexamethyl-2,6,10,14,18,22-tetracosahexaene. So the extractives of poplar wood contained rich and rare drug and biomedical activities.  相似文献

The leaves of Hasseltia floribunda were examined for their chemical constituents. Twelve phenolic glucosides, namely three hydroxycyclohexenyl acyl glucosides, four acylated salicortin derivatives, and five coumaroyl salicin derivatives, were isolated along with eight known phenolic glycosides, six known flavones, and two known sesquiterpenoid cyclohexenone derivatives. The structures of the isolated compounds were elucidated by NMR spectroscopic and HRMS spectrometric methods and by comparing analytical data with those of related structures.  相似文献

Three phenolic glycosides were isolated together with two known flavonol glycosides from the H2O-soluble fraction of rhizomes of Kaempferia parviflora. Their structures were determined to be rel-(5aS,10bS)-5a,10b-dihydro-1,3,5a,9-tetrahydroxy-8-methoxy-6H-benz[b]indeno[1,2-d]furan-6-one 5a-O-[alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-->6)-beta-d-glucopyranoside] (1), its rel-5aS,10bR isomer (2), and (2R,3S,4S)-3-O-[alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-->6)-beta-d-glucopyranosyl]-3'-O-methyl-ent-epicatechin-(2alpha-->O-->3,4alpha-->4)-(5aS,10bS)-5a,10b-dihydro-1,3,5a,9-tetrahydroxy-8-methoxy-6H-benz[b]indeno[1,2-d]furan-6-one 5a-O-[alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-->6)-beta-D-glucopyranoside] (3). The structures were elucidated on the basis of analyses of chemical and spectroscopic evidence.  相似文献

Diversity of cuticular wax among Salix species and Populus species hybrids   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
The leaf cuticular waxes of three Salix species and two Populus species hybrids, selected for their ability to produce high amounts of biomass, were characterized. Samples were extracted in CH(2)Cl(2) three times over the growing season. Low kV SEM was utilized to observe differences in the ultrastructure of leaf surfaces from each clone. Homologous series of wax components were classified into organic groups, and the variation in wax components due to clone, sample time, and their interaction was identified. All Salix species and Populus species hybrids showed differences in total wax load at each sampling period, whereas the pattern of wax deposition over time differed only between the Salix species. A strong positive relationship was identified between the entire homologous series of alcohols and total wax load in all clones. Similarly strong relationships were observed between fatty acids and total wax load as well as fatty acids and alcohols in two Salix species and one Populus species hybrid. One Salix species, S. dasyclados, also displayed a strong positive relationship between alcohols and alkanes. These data indicate that species grown under the same environmental conditions produce measurably different cuticular waxes and that regulation of wax production appears to be different in each species. The important roles cuticular waxes play in drought tolerance, pest, and pathogen resistance, as well as the ease of wax extraction and analysis, strongly suggest that the characteristics of the cuticular wax may prove to be useful selectable traits in a breeding program.  相似文献

Wheat straw, an important papermaking raw material in China, was treated with a white-rot fungus of Phanerochaete chrysosporium ME446, and the lipophilic and hydrophilic extractives from the control and bio-treated samples were analyzed by GC and GC–MS. Bio-treatment of wheat straw could alter the chemical composition of both the lipophylic and hydrophilic extractives. Sugars and phenolic substances such as coniferyl alcohol, 4-hydroxycinnamic acid, 1-guaiacylglycerol and ferulic acid were substantially degraded or consumed by the fungus. More lipophilic substances such as wax, glycerides and steryl esters were degraded into the corresponding components, resulting in much higher concentrations of fatty acids and sterols in the bio-treated samples. Obviously, the bio-treatment of wheat straw was of benefit to pitch control in pulping and papermaking processes, in the view of degradation of the more lipophilic substances. In addition, the bio-treatment could increase the lignin concentration in hot-water extractives of wheat straw.  相似文献

Salix arbutifolia is a riparian dioecious tree species that is of conservation concern in Japan because of its highly restricted distribution. Eighteen polymorphic loci of dinucleotide microsatellites were isolated and characterized. Among these, estimates of the expected heterozygosity ranged from 0.350 to 0.879. Background and Aims

Salix nigra seeds are desiccation-tolerant, as are orthodox seeds, although in contrast to other orthodox seeds they lose viability in a few weeks at room temperature. They also differ in that the chloroplasts of the embryo tissues conserve their chlorophyll and endomembranes. The aim of this paper was to investigate the role of chlorophyll in seed deterioration.

Methods

Seeds were aged at different light intensities and atmospheric conditions. Mean germination time and normal and total germination were evaluated. The formation of free radicals was assessed using electronic spin resonance spectroscopy, and changes in the fatty acid composition from phospholipids, galactolipids and triglycerides using gas–liquid chromatography. Membrane integrity was studied with electronic spin resonance spin probe techniques, electrolyte leakage and transmission electron microscopy.

Key Results

Light and oxygen played an important role in free-radical generation, causing a decrease in normal germination and an increase in mean germination time. Both indices were associated with a decrease in polyunsaturated fatty acids derived from membrane lipids as phospholipids and galactolipids. The detection of damage in thylakoid membranes and an increase in plasmalemma permeability were consistent with the decrease in both types of lipids. Triglycerides remained unchanged. Light-induced damage began in outermost tissues and spread inwards, decreasing normal germination.

Conclusions

Salix nigra seeds were very susceptible to photooxidation. The thylakoid membranes appeared to be the first target of the photooxidative process since there were large decreases in galactolipids and both these lipids and the activated chlorophyll are contiguous in the structure of that membrane. Changes in normal germination and mean germination time could be explained by the deteriorative effects of oxidation.  相似文献

In order to promote the use of Pinus pinea L. wood within the Migliarino-San Rossore Nature Reserve (Pisa, central Italy), three low-environmental-impact wood treatments, supposed to enhance natural durability, were compared. Impregnations with an oil-based preservative and natural waxes and a wood thermal treatment were tested in the field in accordance with standards ENV 12037 and EN 252. The above-ground test revealed that: P. pinea sapwood is more durable than Pinus sylvestris sapwood; all the alternative treatments showed a low mean decay level; wax and oil treatments performed as well as the traditional copper-based preservative; the natural durability class of P. pinea will only be calculated upon the complete failure of all reference lap-joints. The main outcomes from the in-ground test were: All the tested treatments increased the durability of wood, and the protective effectiveness of alternative treatments was comparable to traditional copper-based ones, or even superior in the case of heated oil. Taking certain mechanical and aesthetic limitations into account, all the treatments were suitable for the promotion of the P. pinea wood commodity in use classes 3 and 4.  相似文献

Structural alterations induced in response to degradation by two white rot Basidiomycetes on the secondary xylem of Azadirachta indica (L) Del., was compared. In vitro decay test was employed to investigate the pattern of delignification of Azadirachta wood by Trichoderma harzianum and Chrysosporium asperatum. Wood samples inoculated with both the strains were analyzed for different periods viz. 30, 60, 90 and 120 days after fungal inoculation. Initially there was no appreciable percent weight loss of the wood blocks but later on (after 60 days) it increased rapidly and was found similar for both the strains (43-46% of wood mass). Samples inoculated with both the strains showed dual pattern of degradation i.e. selective delignification in the initial stage followed by simultaneous rot during advance stage of decay. Separation of the cells due to dissolution of middle lamella was the characteristic feature of both strains but in the advanced stage of decay, formation of erosion troughs were conspicuous in all the cell types. Other features such as cell wall thinning, rounded pit erosion, formation of erosion channels and bore holes were also observed frequently. Initially, fungal invasion started through the vessel lumen, followed by all the cell types of the xylem. From the vessels, mycelia entered into the adjacent rays and parenchyma cells through the pits. In advanced stage, degradation was so pronounced that rays were partially or even completely destroyed while many cells including vessels were either deformed or destroyed due to loss of rigidity of their walls. A new flavanone glycoside, naringenin-7-O-β-d-glucuronopyranoside, and a new flavonol glycoside, 6-hydroxykaempferol-7-O-β-d-glucuronopyranoside were isolated together with 12 known compounds, 5 flavone glycoside; hispidulin-7-O-β-d-glucuronopyranoside, apigenin-7-O-β-d-methylglucuronopyranoside, hispidulin-7-O-β-d-methylglucuronopyranoside, hispidulin-7-O-β-d-glucopyranoside, apigenin-7-O-β-d-glucopyranoside, a flavonol; kaempferol, two flavone; apigenin, and luteolin, a flavanone glycoside; eriodictyol-7-O-β-d-glucuronopyranoside, and three phenol glycoside; arbutin, salidroside, and 3,5-dihydroxyphenethyl alcohol-3-O-β-d-glucopyranoside from Centaurea urvillei subsp. urvillei. The structure elucidation of the new compounds was achieved by a combination of one- (1H and 13C) and two-dimensional NMR techniques (G-COSY, G-HMQC, and G-HMBC) and LC-ESI-MS. The isolated compounds were tested for their antiproteasomal activity. The results indicated that kaempferol, a well known and widely distributed flavonoid in the plant kingdom, was the most active antiproteasomal agent, followed by apigenin, eriodictyol-7-O-β-d-glucuronopyranoside, 3,5-dihydroxyphenethyl alcohol-3-O-β-d-glucopyranoside, and salidroside, respectively.  相似文献
