A note on Wallemia sebi   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A review of the available information on the monotypic genus Wallemia supports the interpretation that W. sebi is probably a basidiomycete and may be a teleomorph. It has dolipore/parenthesome septa similar to those found in the suborder Tremellineae, except that the associated parenthesome vesicles are very small and composed of a single membrane. A conjectural interpretation is made that the spore chains, which are composed of repeating sets of four, are meiospores generated from a permanently diploid mother cell that divides repeatedly to generate meiocyte daughter cells.  相似文献

Summary Light and electron microscopic investigations of fruit-body primordia of the basidiomycetesSchizophyllum commune andCoprinus cinereus showed that hyphal fusions are common in specific areas of the fruit-body primordia of both species. In these areas conspicuous amounts of a mucilaginous substance occur between the closely packed hyphae. A possible function of this mucilage is to aid the adhesion of hyphae prior to fusion. In the fruit-body primordium ofCoprinus cinereus the dolipore/parenthesome septum is surrounded by an additional hemispherical membranous cap (outer cap). Such a cap was never found inSchizophyllum commune fruit-body primordia.  相似文献

Cypris morphology in the Rhizocephala differs both between the sexes of individual species and between the species. The large aesthetasc on the third antennular segment is unique to male cyprids of the Lernaeodiscidae, Peltogasteridae and Sacculinidae (suborder Kentrogonida) and Mycetomorpha vancouverensis (suborder Akentrogonida). A fourth segmental aesthetasc, common to both sexes, is much longer in males than in females. A spinous process on the attachment disc is another male-specific character, but is absent altogether in the Lernaeodiscidae. It is argued that these aesthetascs help locate the settlement targets. Except in Mycetomorpha vancourverensis, aesthetascs have been secondarily lost in cyprids of the suborder Akentrogonida, and there are no other morphological means for separating the male and female settling stage. In cyprids of Sylon hippolytes (Sylonidae) and of Mycetomorpha vancouverensis and Thompsonia sp. (Akentrogonidae) the long and slender antennules are probably used in penetration without formation of a kentrogon, as already reported for Clistosaccus paguri (Clistosaccidae). Cyprids of Sylon hippolytes and Clistosaccus paguri are almost morphologically identical.  相似文献

A new genus, Rovnocapnia gen. nov., with new species R. atra sp. nov. and R. ambita sp. nov., from the family Capniidae, and a new genus and species Palaeoleuctra acuta gen. sp. nov., from the family Leuctridae, of the suborder Nemourina (Euholognatha), are described from Late Eocene Rovno amber. Familial assignment of one additional specimen (suborder Perlina, infraorder Perlomorpha (Systelognatha)), represented by a nymphal skin, is obscure due to its incomplete preservation.  相似文献

The isopod crustaceans are diverse both morphologically and in described species numbers. Nearly 950 described species (∼9% of all isopods) live in continental waters, and possibly 1,400 species remain undescribed. The high frequency of cryptic species suggests that these figures are underestimates. Several major freshwater taxa have ancient biogeographic patterns dating from the division of the continents into Laurasia (Asellidae, Stenasellidae) and Gondwana (Phreatoicidea, Protojaniridae and Heterias). The suborder Asellota has the most described freshwater species, mostly in the families Asellidae and Stenasellidae. The suborder Phreatoicidea has the largest number of endemic genera. Other primary freshwater taxa have small numbers of described species, although more species are being discovered, especially in the southern hemisphere. The Oniscidea, although primarily terrestrial, has a small number of freshwater species. A diverse group of more derived isopods, the ‘Flabellifera’ sensu lato has regionally important species richness, such as in the Amazon River. These taxa are transitional between marine and freshwater realms and represent multiple colonisations of continental habitats. Most species of freshwater isopods species and many genera are narrow range endemics. This endemism ensures that human demand for fresh water will place these isopods at an increasing risk of extinction, as has already happened in a few documented cases. Antarctic fish of the suborder Notothenioidei represent one of the most notable examples of adaptive radiation in the marine environment. The evolutionary relationships between and within the eight families of this suborder have been well established by numerous studies, whereas the microevolutionary processes of notothenioid species remain largely unexplored. In the present paper we investigated the evolutionary relationships between three closely related species of the genus Chionodraco (family Channichthyidae), namely Chionodraco hamatus, Chionodraco rastrospinosus, and Chionodraco myersi by analysing portions of the mitochondrial genome (D-loop and 16S rRNA). The taxonomic status of C. hamatus and C. rastrospinosus as separate species has been questioned because of the limited number of key morphological characters that distinguish these two taxa. Our results, based on the analysis of several specimens belonging to both morphological groups revealed a small genetic differentiation among haplotypes, however, a clear separation between the two nominal species emerged since all individuals of each of the two taxa clustered together in distinct monophyletic groups. C. myersi appeared more distantly related in the phylogenetic analysis. For one species, C. hamatus, sampling was carried out at three different geographic locations in the area of the Ross Sea and Weddell Sea. The results showed that the partition of the genetic variation within this species is not compatible with the hypothesis of panmixia as gene flow between populations was significantly reduced.  相似文献

The species composition of ostracods in the zooperiphyton was determined in 45 waterbodies and watercourses of Tyumen oblast. A total of 58 species from seven families and 22 genera of the suborder Podocopa Sars, 1866, have been found: 30 species of the family Candonidae, 13 of Cyprididae, 8 of Cyridopsidae, 3 of Ilyocyprididae, 1 of Darwinulidae, 2 of Cytherideidae, and 1 of Limnocytheridae. Of these 58 species, 32 are recorded for the first time in the region; one of them is a Mediterranean species (Stenocypris sp.) from the cooling reservoir of Tyumen Thermal Power Station 1. The distribution and biogeography of the ostracods are described.  相似文献

72 Strains belonging to 44 species of ascomycetous black yeasts were analyzed for their coenzyme Q systems. Prevalent were Q-10 and dihydrogenated Q-10 systems. Members of the Dothidealean suborder Dothideineae have Q-10 (H2), while those belonging to the suborder Pseudosphaeriineae mostly have Q-10. The anamorph genus Exophiala Carmichael and the teleomorph genus Capronia Sacc. seem to be heterogenous.  相似文献

We have sequenced the complete mitochondrial genomes of the spiders Heptathela hangzhouensis and Ornithoctonus huwena. Both genomes encode 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, and 2 ribosomal RNA genes. H. hangzhouensis, a species of the suborder Mesothelae and a representative of the most basal clade of Araneae, possesses a gene order identical to that of Limulus polyphemus of Xiphosura. On the other hand, O. huwena, a representative of suborder Opisthothelae, infraorder Mygalomorphae, was found to have seven tRNA genes positioned differently from those of Limulus. The rrnLtrnL1nad1 arrangement shared by the araneomorph families Salticidae, Nesticidae, and Linyphiidae and the mygalomorph family Theraphosidae is a putative synapomorphy joining the mygalomorph with the araneomorph. Between the two species examined, base compositions also differ significantly. The lengths of most protein-coding genes in H. hangzhouensis and O. huwena mtDNA are either identical to or slightly shorter than their Limulus counterparts. Usage of initiation and termination codons in these protein-coding genes seems to follow patterns conserved among most arthropod and some other metazoan mitochondrial genomes. The sequences of the 3 ends of rrnS and rrnL in the two species are similar to those reported for Limulus, and the entire genes are shortened by about 100–250 nucleotides with respect to Limulus. The lengths of most tRNA genes from the two species are distinctly shorter than those of Limulus and the sequences reveal unusual inferred tRNA secondary structures. Our finding provides new molecular evidence supporting that the suborder Mesothelae is basal to opisthothelids.Reviewing Editor Dr. Rafael Zardoya  相似文献

ABSTRACT. The blood of 21 adult South American mouse opossums (Thylamys elegans) captured from April through August of 2005 in central Chile was examined for parasites. Light microscopic analysis of blood smears initially suggested that a highly pleomorphic Hepatozoon species typical of American opossums was infecting erythrocytes. Unexpectedly, amplification by PCR and sequencing of a DNA fragment of the small subunit rDNA combined with phylogenetic analyses indicated that the parasite is not a member of the suborder Adeleorina, which includes the Haemogregarina and Hepatozoon species, but that it is a clearly distinct member of the suborder Eimeriorina, which includes the cyst‐forming family Sarcocystidae. Therefore, a reclassification of this unusual intraerythrocytic apicomplexan will require additional life cycle, microscopic, and molecular analyses.  相似文献

Chromosome measurements were performed in four species of snakes related at the level of suborder (Boa constrictor amarali, Xenodon merremii, Philodryas patagoniensis, Bothrops jararaca). The data obtained point out that pairs 1–3 were common to the four snakes and probably inherited from the ancestor of the suborder Serpentes. Pairs 5–8-W were characteristic of each snake; hence, it is possible to assume that they followed evolving after the appearing of the suborder Serpentes. Z-chromosomes were metacentric in B. constrictor amarali, X. merremii and B. jararaca and slightly submetacentric in P. patagoniensis. Area of these chromosomes varied from 8.6–10.6% of the haploid set in the four species studied.-The study of chromosome replication at the end of the S period points out that shared chromosomes have similar patterns of labeling. Therefore, it is proposed that the distribution of late replicating regions and heterochromatin in the genome is phylogenetically transmitted and probably genetically determined.—The analysis of the ending-sequence of chromosome replication shows that sex chromosomes finish earlier than macroautosomes. It is concluded that snakes probably have no mechanism of sex chromosome heterochromatinization in either sex. The absence of late replicating Z-chromosome in the males, favours the hypothesis that no mechanism of sex dosage compensation is acting in the suborder Serpentes. This work was partially supported by Public Health Service Research grant No. GM-14577-03 from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences and by the Fundo de Pesquisas do Instituto Butantan.  相似文献

An attempt was made to determine the number of spermatozoa per bundle in a scarabaeoid species Gnorimus nobilis both through the analysis of the premeiotic cytology of germ line cells and by counting the spermatids within a spermiocyst at the beginning of the process of spermiogenesis. The obtained results, taken together, indicate that definitive spermatogonia go through a series of 6 synchronous mitotic divisions before entering meiosis as primary spermatocytes, which in turn produce 256 (28) spermatozoa per bundle after completion of meiosis and spermiogenesis. The obtained data are compared with similar ones for other beetle species belonging to the family Scarabaeidae and the suborder Coleoptera-Polyphaga, respectively. Also, some phylogenetic implications of these data are briefly discussed.  相似文献

Summary The nucleotide sequences of the 5S and 5.8S rRNAs of eight strains of tetrahymenine ciliates have been determined. The sequences indicate a clear distinction betweenTetrahymena paravorax and its suggested conspecificT. vorax, but leave the taxonomic distinction betweenT. vorax andT. leucophrys in doubt. The rRNA sequences of sixTetrahymena species and of three other species of the suborder Tetrahymenina have been used to deduce evolutionary schemes in which ancestral rRNA sequences and changes are proposed. These schemes suggest the predominant acceptance of GA and CT transitions in the 5S rDNA during the evolution of the suborder.  相似文献

Within the nematode class Chromadorea, the suborder Tylenchina is an ecologically and morphologically diverse assemblage of nematodes that includes free‐living microbivores, fungivores and various types of plant parasites. A recent nematode classification system based largely on SSU rDNA phylogenetic trees classified suborder Tylenchina to include four infraorders: Panagrolaimomorpha, Cephalobomorpha, Tylenchomorpha and Drilonematomorpha, and phylogenetic relationships among species of these infraorders have not always been robustly supported. In this study, we determined the complete mitochondrial genome sequences of three Tylenchina species (Aphelenchus avenae [Aphelenchidae, Tylenchomorpha], Halicephalobus gingivalis, Panagrellus redivivus [Panagrolaimomorpha]) and the partial genome sequence of Acrobeles complexus (Cephalobomorpha) and used these sequences to infer phylogenetic relationships among representatives of the Tylenchina and other nematodes. Phylogenetic analysis of amino acid sequences for 12 protein‐coding genes of 100 nematode species supports monophyly of: Chromadorea, Spiruromorpha, Oxyuridomorpha, Ascarididae + Toxocaridae + Anisakidae, Meloidogynidae + Pratylenchidae + Heteroderidae and Aphelenchoidea. Bayesian and maximum‐likelihood analyses also show the nested position of Diplogasteromorpha within Rhabditomorpha, and Rhigonematomorpha within Ascaridomorpha. These analyses also show non‐monophyly of: clade III, Ancylostomatidae, Panagrolaimomorpha, Tylenchina and Tylenchomorpha. Reconstructed mitochondrial genome phylogeny also revealed that among two main Tylenchomorpha groups, the monophyletic group representing Aphelenchoidea species was sister to the large clade consisting of Ascaridomorpha, Diplogasteromorpha, Rhabditomorpha and Rhigonematomorpha and some Panagrolaimomorpha species, whereas Tylenchoidea species were sister to the most inclusive assemblage containing all infraordinal groups of Chromadorea, except for P. redivivus (Panagrolaimomorpha) and Acrobeles complexus (Cephalobomorpha). The monophyly of Aphelenchoidea (i.e. sister relationship between Aphelenchidae and Aphelenchoididae) recovered in this study indicates that similarity in certain aspects of pharyngeal structure between these two families appears best explained by common ancestry, rather than convergent evolution.  相似文献

Paramesopsocus lu n. gen., n. sp. and Paramesopsocus adibi n. sp. are respectively described from the Early Cretaceous amber of Lebanon and from the Late Jurassic limestone of Karatau (Kazakhstan). They are placed within the suborder Psocomorpha, and in the Mesozoic extinct family Paramesopsocidae n. fam. A cladistic phylogeny for Psocomorpha is given including our fossil taxa. The discovery of these new taxa demonstrates the necessity of a deep cladistic redefinition of the currently admitted major subdivisions of this suborder.  相似文献

Bats are a diverse radiation of mammals of enduring interest for understanding the evolution of sensory specialization. Colour vision variation among species has previously been linked to roosting preferences and echolocation form in the suborder Yinpterochiroptera, yet questions remain about the roles of diet and habitat in shaping bat visual ecology. We sequenced OPN1SW and OPN1LW opsin genes for 20 species of leaf‐nosed bats (family Phyllostomidae; suborder Yangochiroptera) with diverse roosting and dietary ecologies, along with one vespertilionid species (Myotis lavali). OPN1LW genes appear intact for all species, and predicted spectral tuning of long‐wavelength opsins varied among lineages. OPN1SW genes appear intact and under purifying selection for Myotis lavali and most phyllostomid bats, with two exceptions: (a) We found evidence of ancient OPN1SW pseudogenization in the vampire bat lineage, and loss‐of‐function mutations in all three species of extant vampire bats; (b) we additionally found a recent, independently derived OPN1SW pseudogene in Lonchophylla mordax, a cave‐roosting species. These mutations in leaf‐nosed bats are independent of the OPN1SW pseudogenization events previously reported in Yinpterochiropterans. Therefore, the evolution of monochromacy (complete colour blindness) has occurred in both suborders of bats and under various evolutionary drivers; we find independent support for the hypothesis that obligate cave roosting drives colour vision loss. We additionally suggest that haematophagous dietary specialization and corresponding selection on nonvisual senses led to loss of colour vision through evolutionary sensory trade‐off. Our results underscore the evolutionary plasticity of opsins among nocturnal mammals.  相似文献

The mangrove rivulus, Kryptolebias marmoratus (Rivulidae, Cyprinodontiformes), is phylogenetically embedded within a large clade of oviparous (egg laying) and otherwise mostly gonochoristic (separate sex) killifish species in the circumtropical suborder Aplocheiloidei. It is unique in its reproductive mode: K. marmoratus is essentially the world's only vertebrate species known to engage routinely in self‐fertilization as part of a mixed‐mating strategy of selfing plus occasional outcrossing with gonochoristic males. This unique form of procreation has profound population‐genetic and evolutionary‐genetic consequences that are the subject of this review.  相似文献

Coloniality in the phylum Rotifera   总被引:3,自引:1,他引:2
Coloniality in the phylum Rotifera is defined and reviewed. Only two families of rotifers contain truly colonial forms: Flosculariidae and Conochilidae (order Gnesiotrocha, suborder Flosculariacea). Most species form intraspecific colonies ranging in size from a few to about 200 individuals, but species that produce enormous colonies (> 1000 individuals) are also known. All seven genera of the Flosculariidae contain species that form colonies to widely varying degrees (Beauchampia, Floscularia, Lacinularia, Limnias, Octotrocha, Ptygura, Sinantherina). All four species of the monogenetic Conochilidae (Conochilus) are colonial, but two species form colonies of only an adult and a few young. At least one other family (Philodinidae; Bdelloida) contains a species that exhibits a form of coloniality (Philodina megalotrocha). Two hypotheses that attempt to explain the adaptive significance of coloniality (Energetic Advantage and Predatory Avoidance) are reviewed and new information concerning the former is presented. Evolution of coloniality is discussed briefly.  相似文献

Among anthropoid primates there are interspecific differences in the degree of sexual dimorphism in both body size and canine size. Within the suborder body size dimorphism and canine size dimorphism are positively correlated,r=0.76. This correlation suggests that the two dimorphisms are equally developed in some species, while in other species there is a differential degree of sexual dimorphism. An analysis of these results and their relation to social organization and other ecological variables reveals: (1) the degree of canine size dimorphism is closely related to the amount of male intrasexual selection in a given mating system; and (2) the degree of body size dimorphism is also related to male intrasexual selection, but may be modified (either enhanced or diminished) by selection pressure from factors such as habitat, diet, foraging behavior, antipredator behavior, locomotory behavior, and female preference.  相似文献
