The IPCC SRES narratives were implemented in IMAGE 2.2 to evaluate the future con-dition of the climate system (including the biosphere). A series of scenario experiments was used to assess possible ranges in emissions and concentrations of greenhouse gases, climate changeand impacts. These experiments focussed on the role of the terrestrial carbon cycle. The experi-ments show that the SRES narratives dominate human emissions and not natural processes. In contrary, atmospheric CO_2 concentration strongly differs between the experiments. Atmospheric CO_2 concentrations range for A1B from 714 to 1009 ppmv CO_2 in 2100. The spread of this range is comparable with the full SRES range as implemented in IMAGE 2.2 (515-895 μmol/mol CO_2).The most important negative and positive feedback processes in IMAGE 2.2 on the build-up ofCO_2 concentrations are CO_2 fertilisation and soil respiration respectively. Indirect effects of theseprocesses further change land-use patterns, deforestation rates and alter the natural C fluxes. Thecumulative effects of these changes have a pronounced influence on the final CO_2 concentrations. Our scenario experiments highlight the importance of a proper parameterisation of feedback proc-esses, C-cycle and land use in determining the future states of the climate system.  相似文献

To assess the mechanisms of modest hypothermia (MH) and its effects on cellular radiation response, a model of anesthesia-induced modest hypothermia (AIMH) in the adult mice and a model of pure MH in the newborn mice were established. The survival rate of lethally irradiated mice was increased to 72% through AIMH before irradiation. Both apoptosis and necrosis of human fetal bone marrow CD34+ hematopoietic stem cells cultured under MH were significantly decreased as detected by MTT and flow cytometry, with three-color labeled by PE-CD34+/ FITC-AnnexinV /7AAD. The survival and proliferation of mouse bone marrow MNC treated with MH after irradiation were also increased. The MH exerted similar protective effects on the leukemia cell lines A20, HL60, K562 to the normal bone marrow cells, but it enhanced the radiation sensitivity of leukemia cell line FBL3 and mouse melanoma B16F10. No effects have been found on the radiation sensitivity of those cells treated with MH before irradiation. The results also show  相似文献

In the present study, we evaluated the allelopathic effects of three macroalgae, namely Ulva pertusa Kjellml, Corallina pilufifera Postl et Ruprl, and Sargassum thunbergii Mertl O. Kuntze, on the growth of the microalga Skeletonema costaturn (Grev.) Creve using culture systems in which the algae coexisted. The effects of the macroalgal culture medium filtrate on S. costatum were also investigated. Moreover, isolated co-culture systems were built to confirm the existence of allelochemicals and preclude growth inhibition by direct contact. The coexistence assay data demonstrated that the growth of S. costaturn was strongly inhibited when fresh tissues, dry powder and aqueous extracts were used; the allelochemicals were lethal to S. costatum at relatively higher concentrations. The effects of the macroalgal culture medium filtrate on the microalga showed both species specificity and complexity. The inhibitory effect of fresh macroalgal tissue and culture medium filtrate on the microalga was due to the alleochemicals released by the macroalgae. The results of the present study show that the allelopathic effects of macroalgae on the microalga are complex. The present study could shed light onto the basis of the interaction between macro- and microalgae.  相似文献

Molecular markers were used to identify and assess cultivars ofLaminaria Lamx. and to delineate their phylogenetic relationships. Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis was used for detection. After screening, 11 primers were selected and they yielded 133 bands in all, of which approximately 99.2% were polymorphic. The genetic distances between gametophytes ranged from 0.412 to 0.956.Two clusters were formed with the unweighted pair group method with arithmetic mean (UPGMA) dendrogram based on the simple matching coefficient. All cultivars ofLaminariajaponica Aresch. used for breeding in China fell into one cluster. L.japonica from Japan, L. saccharina (L.) Lam., and L. angustata Kjellm.formed the other cluster and showed higher genetic variation than L. japonica from China. Nuclear ribosomal DNA (rDNA) sequences, including internal transcribed spacers (ITS1 and ITS2) were studied and aligned. The nucleotides of the sequences ranged from 634 to 668, with a total of 692 positions including ITS1, ITS2, and the 5.8S coding region. The phylogenetic tree obtained by the neighbor-joining method favored, to some extent, the results revealed by RAPD analysis. The present study indicates that RAPD and ITS analyses could be used to identify and assess Laminaria germplasm and to distinguish some species and, even intraspecies, in Laminaria.  相似文献

Abstract Insect populations are prone to respond to global changes through shifts in phenology, distribution and abundance. However, global changes cover several factors such as climate and land-use, the relative importance of these being largely unknown. Here, we aim at disentangling the effects of climate, land-use, and geographical drivers on aphid abundance and phenology in France, at a regional scale and over the last 40 years. We used aerial data obtained from suction traps between 1978 and 2015 on five aphid species varying in their degree of specialization to legumes, along with climate, legume crop area and geographical data. Effects of environmental and geographical variables on aphid annual abundance and spring migration dates were analyzed using generalized linear mixed models. We found that within the last four decades, aphids have advanced their spring migration by a month, mostly due to the increase in temperature early in the year, and their abundance decreased by half on average, presumably in response to a combination of factors. The influence of legume crop area decreased with the degree of specialization of the aphid species to such crops. The effect of geographical variation was high even when controlling for environmental variables, suggesting that many other spatially structured processes act on aphid population characteristics. Multifactorial analyses helped to partition the effects of different global change drivers. Climate and land-use changes have strong effects on aphid populations, with important implications for future agriculture. Additionally, trait-based response variation could have major consequences at the community scale.  相似文献

Loss of function and gain of function mutations of the sodium channel were investigated using an intact two-dimensional rabbit sinoatrial node (SAN) and atrial cell model. The effects of three external stimuli (acetylcholine secretion by the vagal nerve, acid-base concentration, and tissue temperature) on cardiac pacemaker function and conduction were studied. Our results show that these two groups of mutations have different effects on pacemaker function and conduction. Furthermore, we found that the negative effects of these mutations could be altered by external stimuli. The bradycardic effects of mutations were magnified by an increase in acetylcholine level. Changes in acid-base concentration and tissue temperature increased the ability of the SAN to recover its pacemaker function. The results of this study increase our understanding of sodium channel disorders, and help to advance research on the treatment of these conditions.  相似文献

Dear Editor, Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase (PEPC; EC 4.1.1.31) islocated at an important branch point in the carbohydratemetabolism of plants. The enzyme is a homotetramer andcatalyzes the addition of bicarbonate to phosphoenolpyru-vate (PEP) to form oxaloacetate and phosphate. PEPC isregulated by metabolites and phosphorylation. AIIostericfeedback inhibition is mainly regulated by L-malate andL-aspartate which bind to a site separated from the activecenter (Kai et al., 1999; Paulus et al., 2013). Structure analy-sis of PEPC from Escherichia coli (Kai et al., 1999; Matsumuraet al., 2002), Zea rnays (Matsumura et al., 2002), Flaveria trin-ervia, and F. pringlei (Paulus et al., 2013) revealed that thesubstrate PEP and the feedback inhibitors bind to separatesites within each monomer.  相似文献

The temperature and soil moisture conditions as well as vegetation patterns were studied to describe the habitat and to model the life cycle of Melanoplusfrigidus, a true alpine grasshopper of the Scandes. In the low alpine belt of the Norwegian Scandes the species colonizes only the warmest microhabitats with maximum soil surface temperatures of 31℃. Vegetation of these habitats consists of shrub-rich heath dominated by Vaccinium myrtillus and Calluna vulgaris. Using continuously measured temperature data, the development times for four different seasons were modeled and related to field observations. The maximum delay of adult molt was estimated to amount to 3 weeks, the delay being determined by the variation in spring temperature conditions between different years. The possibilities of using M. frigidus as an indicator organism of climate change effects on alpine zoo-coenoses of the Scandes are discussed.  相似文献

A multichannel kinetic spectrophotometer–fluorimeter with pulsed measuring beam and differential optics has been constructed for measurements of light-induced absorbance and fluorescence yield changes in isolated chlorophyll-proteins, thylakoids and intact cells including algae and photosynthetic bacteria. The measuring beam, provided by a short (2 μs) pulse from a xenon flash lamp, is divided into a sample and reference channel by a broad band beam splitter. The spectrum in each channel is analyzed separately by a photodiode array. The use of flash measuring beam and differential detection yields high signal-to-noise ratio (noise level of 2 × 10−4 in absorbance units per single flash) with negligible actinic effect. The instrument covers a spectral range between 300 and 1050 nm with a spectral resolution of 2.1, 6.4 or 12.8 nm dependent on the type of grating used. The optical design of the instrument enables measuring of the difference spectra during an actinic irradiation of samples with continuous light and/or saturation flashes. The time resolution of the spectrophotometer is limited by the length of Xe flash lamp pulses to 2 μs.  相似文献

Heihe River is the second largest inland river in northwest China which flows through Qinghai Province, Gansu Province and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Because of the rapid development of social economy, the sharp increase of water utilization in the middle reaches and the aggravation of contradiction of supply and demand on water resources, the water to the lower reaches decreases and the ecological environment deteriorates constantly. According to the severe situation of ecology system depravation in Heihe River basin, Chinese government decided to invest 2.35 billion RMB to carry out 3 years ecological management in Heihe River basin from August in 2001. After 3 years ecological management, the depravation of ecological environment is controlled effectively. This paper researches the ecological management engineering in the upper reaches of Heihe River and evaluates the effect of the ecological management engineering. The methods of field sampling and measuring are used to obtain the index indicating the ecology change in the upper reaches of Heihe River in 2006. The effects of fencing grassland, fencing natural forest, and artificial afforestation to the ecology are evaluated. The result suggests that: Firstly, in fencing grassland area, the yield of grass had increased by 42–113%, average height of the grass had increased by 60–100%, and the degree of coverage had increased by 67–100%. Secondly, in fencing natural forests area, the degree of coverage had increased by 15–33%, the shade density had increased by 50–100%, average height had increased by 80–125%, and the crown size had increased by 63–186%. Thirdly, the growth increment of the trees in artificial afforestation area is bigger than that outside artificial afforestation area. In conclusion, ecological management leads to obvious ecological effect in the upper reaches of Heihe River.  相似文献

The response of desiccation-sensitive plant tissues to dehydration is significantly affected by dehydration conditions, particularly the rate of drying. Consequently it is important to be able to quantify drying rate. The aim of the study was to assess two models that have been proposed to describe drying kinetics, and thus to provide a quantification of non-linear drying rates, of embryonic axes excised from recalcitrant seeds. These models are an exponential drying time course, and a modified inverse relationship, respectively. For the six species investigated here the inverse function was generally found to fit drying data better than the exponential function under both rapid and slow drying conditions, and so is recommended. The rate of drying, under the conditions used here, was determined by axis size and possibly the nature of the axis outer coverings, rather than the water activity difference between the tissue and surrounding air.  相似文献

In vivo experiments were designed to verify the analgesic effect of Dragon’s Blood and the material basis for this effect. Extracellular microelectrode recordings were used to observe the effects of Dragon’s Blood and various combinations of the three components (cochinchinenin A, cochinchinenin B, and loureirin B) extracted from Dragon’s Blood on the discharge activities of wide dynamic range (WDR) neurons in spinal dorsal horn (SDH) of intact male Wistar rats evoked by electric stimulation at sciatic nerve. When the Hill's coefficients describing the dose-response relations of drugs were dif-ferent, based on the concept of dose equivalence, the equations of additivity surfaces which can be applied to assess the interaction between three drugs were derived. Adopting the equations and Tal-larida's isobole equations used to assess the interaction between two drugs with dissimilar dose-response relations, the effects produced by various combinations of the three components in modulating the evoked discharge activities of WDR neurons were evaluated. Results showed that Dragon’s Blood and its three components could inhibit the evoked discharge frequencies of WDR neurons in a concentration-dependent way. The Hill's coefficients describing dose-response relations of three components were different. Only the combined effect of cochinchinenin A, cochinchinenin B and loureirin B was similar to that of Dragons Blood. Furthermore, the combined effect was synergistic. This investigation demonstrated that through the synergistic interaction of the three components Dragon’s Blood could interfere with the transmission and processing of pain signals in spinal dorsal horn. All these further proved that the combination of cochinchinenin A, cochinchinenin B, and loureirin B was the material basis for the analgesic effect of Dragon’s Blood.  相似文献

In this paper we develop an elasto-dynamic model of the human arm that includes effects of neuro-muscular control uponelastic deformation in the limb.The elasto-dynamic model of the arm is based on hybrid parameter multiple body systemvariational projection principles presented in the companion paper.Though the technique is suitable for detailed bone and jointmodeling,we present simulations for simplified geometry of the bones,discretized as Rayleigh beams with elongation,whileallowing for large deflections.Motion of the upper extremity is simulated by incorporating muscle forces derived from aHill-type model of musculotendon dynamics.The effects of muscle force are modeled in two ways.In one approach,aneffective joint torque is calculated by multiplying the muscle force by a joint moment ann.A second approach models themuscle as acting along a straight line between the origin and insertion sites of the tendon.Simple arm motion is simulated byutilizing neural feedback and feedforward control.Simulations illustrate the combined effects of neural control strategies,models of muscle force inclusion,and elastic assumptions on joint trajectories and stress and strain development in the bone andtendon.  相似文献

The sand fractions of weathered regolith (subsoil) sediments from the flanks of Visoke Volcano in the Virunga Mountains, mined, pulverized, and eaten by mountain gorillas, were analyzed by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy-despersive spectrometry (EDS) to determine the stimulus of geophagic behavior. The samples show a mix of weathered and volcanic minerals consisting primarily of quartz, apatite, analbite, sanidine, amphibole, ilmenite, and magnetite. The ratio of weathered to fresh grains is approximately 6:1 for the coarse sands (2 mm – 250 μm) and 13:1 for the fine fractions (63 – 250 μm) with the fresh grains very extensively fractured and abraded after grinding and rubbing by gorilla hand. In many cases the core of individual grains was exposed beneath a surface cover extensively etched by chemical weathering and often coated with Fe and Al plus clay minerals. Ground quartz grains, for example, showed surface fractures and abrasion features equivalent to microtextures produced by transport in continental glaciers. Grinding of earth materials produces a high percentage of angular fragments of fine sand size that may or may not play some role in curing intestinal ailments or countering dietary deficiencies. In particular, the grinding of earth materials shows the immense power of the gorilla hand as a pulverizing force making coarse material finer and presumably assisting in the ingesting process. The number of halloysite clay minerals present in the samples might assist in countering the effects of diarrhea.  相似文献

The morphological structure and optical properties of the wings of 14 species of Morphidae have been investigated. Most of the scales of the iridescent species of Morphidae (Lepidoptera) present a very particular structure. The ground scales, responsible for the major part of the optical properties, are covered by a very regular set of longitudinal ridges. The ridges themselves are constituted by a superposition of lamellae that act locally as a multilayered structure. This very specific morphology leads to both interferences and diffraction effects. The first one is responsible of the brilliant blue coloration of the males, while the second one diffracts this colored light at a very large angle. These two phenomena give to the butterfly a very effective long-range communication system. The morphological characteristics of the scales of the various species are presented in detail. Two types of optical measurement were performed on the iridescent wings of 14 different species of Morphidae: spectroscopic measurements under various incidences and gonioscopic measurements for a given incidence angle and wavelength. The first allows a determination of the index of refraction of the cuticular material. The second leads to the drawing of spatial diffraction maps. It shows that most of the reflected light is diffracted laterally over a very large angle (90° 〈 0 〈 120°, according to the different species) and that this repartition depends of the polarization of incident light. As predicted by previous calculations, the dissymmetric structure of the ridge is responsible for the separation of the polarization modes in the various diffraction orders.  相似文献
