New Boraginales from tropical America 7: A new species of Cordia from Bolivia and nomenclatural notes on neotropical Cordiaceae

A new species of Cordia is described from Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Cordia santacruzensis is currently known from only four collections and appears to be endemic to mid-elevation cloud forests from 1950–2850 m in elevation. A nomen novum is proposed for Cordia venosa Killip and the confused nomenclatural history of Varronia crenata is reviewed.

New species of ferns (Polypodiopsida) from Ecuador

The following new species of ferns are described and illustrated: Arachniodes squamulosa, Cyathea halonata, C. punctata, Polypodium fayorum , and Trichomanes paucisorum.     

Six new species and some nomenclatural changes in neotropical Lycopodiaceae

Palhinhaea divaricata B. Øllg., Palhinhaea lugubris B. Øllg., Palhinhaea pseudocurvata B. Øllg., Palhinhaea reflexifolia B. Øllg., Phlegmariurus ciliatospiculatus B. Øllg. and Phlegmariurus luteynii B. Øllg. are described as new to science. Diphasium lawessonianum (B. Øllg.) B. Øllg. is a new combination, based on Lycopodium lawessonianum B. Øllg. Three subfamilies of the Lycopodiaceae: Huperzioideae, Lycopodielloideae and Lycopodioideae, first used by Wagner and Beitel (1992), are validated.     

New species, nomenclatural changes and lectotypifications in Neotropical Lepidagathis Willd. (Acanthaceae)

Summary  Taxonomic and phylogenetic studies of the Neotropical genus Lophostachys showed that it is congeneric with Lepidagathis. The following new combinations of species previously described under Lophostachys are proposed: Lepidagathis chiapensis (Acosta) Kameyama, L. cyanea (Leonard) Kameyama, L. guatemalensis (Donn. Sm.) Kameyama, L. laxifolia (Nees) Kameyama, L. montana (Nees) Kameyama, L. nemoralis (Mart. ex Nees) Kameyama, L. soconuscana (T. F. Daniel) Kameyama, and L. uxpanapensis (Acosta) Kameyama. Five new species are described: Lepidagathis callistachys, L. cuneiformis, L. meridionalis, L. paraensis and L. wasshausenii. Three lectotypes are also designated. A key to the Neotropical secundiflorous species is provided.

New species of Ericaceae (Vaccinieae) from the Andes of Bolivia and Peru

Eight new Ericaceae (Vaccinieae) from Bolivia and Peru are described, illustrated, and discussed: Orthaea madidiensis, Themistoclesia geniculata, Themistoclesia idiocalyx, Themistoclesia siranensis, Themistoclesia tunquiniensis, Themistoclesia woytkowskii, Thibaudia acacioides, and Thibaudia yungensis.     

New germacranolides and other sesquiterpene lactones from Dicoma species

Two subspecies of Dicoma anomala afforded, in addition to known compounds, an eudesmanolide, a guaianolide and four germacranolides, the latter being closely related 8, 12-lactones. D. schinzii gave three new germacranolides and D. zeyheri a pair of isomeric acetylenic compounds. The structures were elucidated by highfield ¹H NMR spectroscopy. The chemotaxonomic situation of this genus is discussed briefly.     

New species and records of tree ferns (Cyatheaceae, Pteridophyta) from the northern Andes

Four new species of Cyatheaceae from Ecuador are described: Alsophila conantiana Lehnert, Cyathea brucei Lehnert, C. moranii Lehnert, and C. sylvatica Lehnert. Range extensions are documented for Alsophila esmeraldensis R.C. Moran and Cyathea macrocarpa (C. Presl) Domin.

Taxonomic and nomenclatural changes in euantennariaceous sooty moulds: Ten new combinations in Euantennaria for species of Antennatula

The correct type species of Antennatula Fr. ex F. Strauss 1850 was quite recently considered to be Antennularia ericophila (Link) Höhn., not Antennatula pinophila (Nees) F. Strauss, and currently the illegitimate name Antennatula is regarded as a synonym of Metacapnodium Speg. 1918 (Metacapnodiaceae). Among Euantennaria Speg. 1918 and competing synonymous generic names Aithalomyces Woron. 1926, Phaeocapnis Cif. & Bat. 1963, Hormisciella Bat. 1956, and Hormisciomyces Bat. & Nacim. 1957, Euantennaria is adopted. As a consequence, with the change to one scientific name for pleomorphic fungi, the following 10 new combinations in Euantennaria (Euantennariaceae) for species of Antennatula sensu or used by Hughes are herein proposed: Euantennaria atra, E. cubensis, E. dingleyae, E. fisherae, E. fraserae, E. katumotoi, E. lumbricoidea, E. pinophila, E. shawiae, and E. triseptata. The respective brief notes for these species are also provided.
