Visual event-related potentials to moving stimuli: normative data   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Visual cognitive responses (P300) to moving stimuli were tested in 36 subjects with the aim to find the normal range of P300 parameters. Concomitantly, the circadian intra-individual variability of the P300 was studied in a subgroup of 6 subjects. Visual stimuli consisted of either coherent (frequent stimulus) or non-coherent motion (random stimulus). The oddball paradigm was applied for recording cognitive responses. P300 to rare stimuli had an average latency of 447.3 +/- 46.6 ms and amplitude of 12.9 +/- 6.0 microV. The average reaction time was in the range from 322 to 611 ms and there was no correlation between the reaction time and P300 latency. We did not find any significant circadian changes of the P300 parameters in the 6 subjects tested four times during the same day. Cognitive (event-related) responses (P300) displayed distinctly greater inter-individual variability (S.D. of 50 ms) when compared with pattern-reversal and motion-onset VEPs (S.D. of 6.0 ms and 14 ms, respectively). For this reason, the clinical use of P300 elicited by this kind of visual stimuli seems to be rather restricted and the evaluation of its intra-individual changes is preferable.  相似文献

We studied aged (24-26 mo) Fischer 344 rats after they underwent 8 wk of moderate exercise conditioning. Right ventricular papillary muscles were loaded with the calcium indicator aequorin. Electrophysiological recordings were also performed. Time to peak isometric tension in muscles from exercised aged rats (EAR) was shorter than in those from unexercised aged rats (UAR) (126 +/- 7 vs. 167 +/- 7 ms; P less than 0.01). Time to 50% relaxation from peak isometric tension was also shorter in EAR than in UAR (88 +/- 3 vs. 119 +/- 12 ms; P less than 0.05). There was a trend toward decrease in time to peak light and a significant decrease in time to 50% decline from peak light (33 +/- 4 ms in EAR vs. 59 +/- 17 ms in UAR; P = 0.001). Action potential amplitude was smaller in EAR than in UAR (67 +/- 4 vs. 82 +/- 3 mV; P = 0.003); however, action potential duration was longer (137 +/- 6 ms in EAR vs. 100 +/- 10 ms in UAR; P = 0.005). Right ventricular-to-body weight ratios revealed no evidence of hypertrophy in EAR compared with UAR. Cardiac tissue norepinephrine content was significantly greater in EAR than in UAR (1,212 +/- 25 vs. 630 +/- 105 ng/tissue; P = 0.02). In summary, exercise reversed the age-related prolongation of isometric contraction and associated intracellular calcium transient in the aged rat while it prolonged the transmembrane action potential. In addition, exercise in aged rats resulted in an increase in cardiac norepinephrine content.  相似文献

Fungi sense light of different wavelengths using blue-, green-, and red-light photoreceptors. Blue light sensing requires the “white-collar” proteins with flavin as chromophore, and red light is sensed through phytochrome. Here we analyzed genome-wide gene expression changes caused by short-term, low-light intensity illumination with blue-, red- or far-red light in Aspergillus nidulans and found that more than 1100 genes were differentially regulated. The largest number of up- and downregulated genes depended on the phytochrome FphA and the attached HOG pathway. FphA and the white-collar orthologue LreA fulfill activating but also repressing functions under all light conditions and both appear to have roles in the dark. Additionally, we found about 100 genes, which are red-light induced in the absence of phytochrome, suggesting alternative red-light sensing systems. We also found blue-light induced genes in the absence of the blue-light receptor LreA. We present evidence that cryptochrome may be part of this regulatory cue, but that phytochrome is essential for the response. In addition to in vivo data showing that FphA is involved in blue-light sensing, we performed spectroscopy of purified phytochrome and show that it responds indeed to blue light.  相似文献

Twitch speeds and potentiating capacities have been determined for human medial and lateral gastrocnemius and soleus muscles. The experiments involved and application of submaximal stimuli to the respective muscle bellies, with monitoring of the evoked compound action potentials (M-waves) during repetitive stimulation. Contrary to an earlier report, the lateral gastrocnemius was found to have a significantly shorter mean contraction time (100.0 +/- 10.8 ms) than the soleus (156.5 +/- 14.7 ms) and this value was also significantly different from that of the medial gastrocnemius (113.7 +/- 19.6 ms). The mean half-relaxation time for each muscle also differed significantly from those for the other two muscles. A further contrast between the muscles was that potentiation of the twitch, following a 3-s tetanus at 50 Hz, was significantly greater in the lateral gastrocnemius than in soleus (mean values 60.4 +/- 43.1% and 2.6 +/- 3.3% respectively.  相似文献

Amplitudes and peak latencies as functions of wave length and monochromatic light intensity were investigated for b-wave ERG and tectal evoked potentials (EP) in the dark-adapted carp (Cyprinus carpio L). It was found, that independently of light intensity b-wave action spectra had one maximum in the medium wave band, corresponding to rod sensitivity area. For tectal EP, similar action spectra with maximum in the middle-wave were seen at low light intensity only. The b-wave amplitude growth was significant for the whole band of light intensities, and these changes were accompanied with a slight decrease in peak latency (to 50-100 ms). Tectal EP amplitude increased when low-intensity light was changed for medium intensity light and did not considerably increase to brighter light stimuli. However, tectal EP time latency significantly decreased (to 100-200 ms) during light intensity increasing. This differences show that retinal rod system, which in responsible for ERG b-wave in darkness, is not a key factor in the generation of tectal EP.  相似文献

It is well known that the training level of a muscle belongs to the parameters that affect the H-reflex response amplitude. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of training type on H- and T-reflex response parameters. For this purpose, 20 long-distance athletes (group I, test group), 18 short-distance athletes (group II, test group) and 20 non-trained subjects (group III, control group) were involved in this study in which the H- and T-reflex amplitude and latency values were measured. The H-reflex amplitude and latency values found in groups I, II and III were 3.64 +/- 0.28 mV and 26.88 +/- 1.45 ms, 3.17 +/- 0.26 mV and 26.19 +/- 1.89 ms, and 6.07 +/- 0.34 mV and 26.77 +/- 1.32 ms, respectively. The T-reflex amplitude and latency values of the groups I, II and III were 3.30 +/- 0.18 mV and 32.01 +/- 1.02 ms, 3.11 +/- 0.20 mV and 31.47 +/- 1.16 ms, 4.24 +/- 0.21 mV and 31.47 +/- 1.16 ms, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference between the groups with respect to latencies of H- and T-reflexes (p>0.05). In both test groups, the amplitudes of the H-reflex and T-reflex were significantly smaller than the control group (p<0.05). The results of this study suggest that training of muscles affect the H- and T-reflex response parameters.  相似文献

Spontaneous activity of cortical neurons exhibits alternative fluctuations of membrane potential consisting of phased depolarization called "up-state" and persistent hyperpolarization called "down-state" during slow wave sleep and anesthesia. Here, we examined the effects of sound stimuli (noise bursts) on neuronal activity by intracellular recording in vivo from the rat auditory cortex (AC). Noise bursts increased the average time in the up-state by 0.81+/-0.65 s (range, 0.27-1.74 s) related to a 10 s recording duration. The rise times of the spontaneous up-events averaged 69.41+/-18.04 ms (range, 40.10-119.21 ms), while those of the sound-evoked up-events were significantly shorter (p<0.001) averaging only 22.54+/-8.81 ms (range, 9.31-45.74 ms). Sound stimulation did not influence ongoing spontaneous up-events. Our data suggest that a sound stimulus does not interfere with ongoing spontaneous neuronal activity in auditory cortex but can evoke new depolarizations in addition to the spontaneous ones.  相似文献

Atrial arrhythmias are believed to be influenced by autonomic nervous system tone. We evaluated the effects of sympathetic and parasympathetic activation on atrial flutter (AF1) by determining the effects of norepinephrine (NE) and acetylcholine (ACh) on the composition of the excitable gap. A model of reentry around the tricuspid valve was produced in 17 chloralose anesthetized dogs using a Y-shaped lesion in the intercaval area that extended to the right atrial appendage. Excitable gap characteristics were determined during AF1 by scanning diastole with a single premature extrastimulus at progressively shorter coupling intervals to define the reset-response curve. Measurements were made during a constant infusion of NE (15 microg/min) into the right coronary artery and repeated during ACh infusion (2 microg/min) following a 15 min recovery period. The excitable gap (27 +/- 1 ms) was significantly (P < 0.001) increased by NE (34 +/- 1 ms) and ACh (50 +/- 2 ms). The fully excitable portion (7 +/- 1 ms) was also significantly (P < 0.001) increased by NE (17 +/- 1 ms) and ACh (43 +/- 2 ms). We conclude that both neurotransmitters increase the safety margin of full excitability ahead of the wavefront, demonstrating that parasympathetic and sympathetic activation can facilitate the persistence of this refractory atrial arrhythmia.  相似文献

The experimental preparation was a piece of isolated rabbit retina, the lower side of which was superfused in a chamber with a plasma-saline mixture kept at 35 degrees C to which, in some experiments, either sodium aspartate and glutamate, or Mg2+, were added to suppress second order neuronal activity. The upper side was exposed to an atmosphere of humidified oxygen. With longlasting light stimuli (30-180 s) the [K+]0 around receptors first falls from its dark-adaptation value (4.6 +/- 0.4 mM) to 3.3 +/- 0.6 mM and then reaccumulates nearly to the pre-stimulus value. The time course of reaccumulation varies greatly (30-180 s) between preparations. The peak time (90% value) of the [K+]0 decrease is several seconds. It seems that the more rapidly the retina is prepared the shorter the peak time of the [K+]0 reaccumulation and the more rapid the [K+]0 reaccumulation. This suggests that the [K+]0 reaccumulation is effected by active, oxygen-dependent mechanisms. PIII always precedes the [K+]0 change, its peak time is several 100 ms. During longlasting light stimuli (30-180 s) slow PIII reflects the difference in the [K+]0 changes around the photoreceptors and at the vitreal surface. The rapidly and carefully isolated preparations exhibit a slow cornea-positive potential similar to a c-wave, when second order neuronal activity is not suppressed.  相似文献

In small mammals, muscles with shorter twitch contraction times and a predominance of fast-twitch, type II fibers exhibit greater posttetanic twitch force potentiation than muscles with longer twitch contraction times and a predominance of slow-twitch, type I fibers. In humans, the correlation between potentiation and fiber-type distribution has not been found consistently. In the present study, postactivation potentiation (PAP) was induced in the knee extensors of 20 young men by a 10-s maximum voluntary isometric contraction (MVC). Maximal twitch contractions of the knee extensors were evoked before and after the MVC. A negative correlation (r = -0. 73, P < 0.001) was found between PAP and pre-MVC twitch time to peak torque (TPT). The four men with the highest (HPAP, 104 +/- 11%) and lowest (LPAP, 43 +/- 7%) PAP values (P < 0.0001) underwent needle biopsies of vastus lateralis. HPAP had a greater percentage of type II fibers (72 +/- 9 vs. 39 +/- 7%, P < 0.001) and shorter pre-MVC twitch TPT (61 +/- 12 vs. 86 +/- 7 ms, P < 0.05) than LPAP. These data indicate that, similar to the muscles of small mammals, human muscles with shorter twitch contraction times and a higher percentage of type II fibers exhibit greater PAP.  相似文献

Phototaxis responses of Halobacterium halobium were monitored with a computerized cell-tracking system coupled to an electronic shutter controlling delivery of photostimuli. Automated analysis of rates of change in direction and linear speeds provided detection of swimming reversals with 67 ms resolution, permitting measurement of distinct phases of the responses to attractant and repellent stimuli. After stimulation, there was a latency period in which the population reversal frequency was unchanged, followed by an excitation phase in which reversal frequency increased, and a slower adaptation phase in which reversal frequency returned to its prestimulus value. A step-decrease in illumination of the attractant receptor slow-cycling or sensory rhodopsin (SR) (lambda max, 587 nm) was interpreted by the cells as an unfavorable stimulus and, after a minimum latency of 0.70 +/- 0.14 s, induced swimming reversals with the peak response occurring 1.34 +/- 0.07 s after onset of the stimulus. Two distinct repellent responses in the near UV/blue were observed. One was a reversal response to 400 nm light, which was dependent on orange-red background illumination as expected for the photointermediate repellent form of SR (lambda max, 373 nm). The minimum latency of this response was approximately the same as that of the SR attractant system. The second was a reversal response with shorter minimum latency (0.40 +/- 0.07 s) to light of longer wavelength (450 nm) than absorbed by the known SR repellent form. This result confirms recent findings of an additional repellent photosystem in this spectral range. Further, the longer wavelength repellent response is independent of orange-red background illumination, indicating that the photoreceptor mediating this response is not a photointermediate of SR.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to evaluate whether heart rate variability (HRV) can be used as an index of parasympathetic reactivation after exercise. Heart rate recovery after exercise has recently been shown to have prognostic significance and has been postulated to be related to abnormal recovery of parasympathetic tone. Ten normal subjects [5 men and 5 women; age 33 +/- 5 yr (mean +/- SE)] exercised to their maximum capacity, and 12 subjects (10 men and 2 women; age 61 +/- 10 yr) with coronary artery disease exercised for 16 min on two separate occasions, once in the absence of atropine and once with atropine (0.04 mg/kg) administered during exercise. The root mean square residual (RMS), which measures the deviation of the R-R intervals from a straight line, as well as the standard deviation (SD) and the root mean square successive difference of the R-R intervals (MSSD), were measured on successive 15-, 30-, and 60-s segments of a 5-min ECG obtained immediately after exercise. In recovery, the R-R interval was shorter with atropine (P < 0.0001). Without atropine, HRV, as measured by the MSSD and RMS, increased early in recovery from 4.1 +/- 0.4 and 3.7 +/- 0.4 ms in the first 15 s to 7.2 +/- 1.0 and 7.4 +/- 0.9 ms after 1 min, respectively (P < 0.0001). RMS (range 1.7-2.1 ms) and MSSD were less with atropine (P < 0.0001). RMS remained flat throughout recovery, whereas MSSD showed some decline over time from 3.0 to 2.2 ms (P < 0.002). RMS and MSSD were both directly related (r(2) = 0.47 and 0.56, respectively; P < 0.0001) to parasympathetic effect, defined as the difference in R-R interval without and with atropine. In conclusion, RMS and MSSD are parameters of HRV that can be used in the postexercise recovery period as indexes of parasympathetic reactivation after exercise. These tools may improve our understanding of parasympathetic reactivation after exercise and the prognostic significance of heart rate recovery.  相似文献

It has been shown that the stepping to recover balance following a forward fall occurs at a constant time (on average 293 ms) (Do et al. Journal of Biomechanics 15, 1982, 933-939). In this study, we tested the hypothesis according to which programming to make fast movement could trigger the movement earlier than when programming self-pace movement. The same experimental paradigm of forward fall was used (see Do et al., 1982) to induce stepping. Different extents of stepping were manipulated by instructions: Subjects were instructed to step to recover their balance naturally (control condition); to make shorter steps than in the control condition; longer steps; faster steps. Lastly, a fast step was also induced by the biomechanical constraint on the initial posture, i.e. by inclining the subject forward at his maximum capacity. Data were collected from 12 subjects. The variables analyzed were the onset latency of step execution and other classical parameters (time of heel-contact, duration of the swing phase, step length, center of mass progression velocity, and step velocity). The results showed that the onset of stepping was unchanged in the longer- and faster-step conditions, relative to the control condition (mean control value = 280 ms). In contrast, the onset of stepping was significantly earlier in the short-step condition, and when the initial inclination was greater (250 and 252 ms, respectively). The swing phase duration in these two conditions averaged 140 and 185 ms, was significantly shorter than in the other conditions, whereas step length was obviously expected to be shorter in the shorter-step condition and longer in the longer-step condition than in the other conditions. Step length was similar between the other conditions. We conclude that neither step length or step velocity programming could induce an earlier onset latency of stepping. Step programming in relation to these specific instructions seemed to concern the extent of step execution and not the time of triggering of the stepping. We suggest that the control of short swing phase duration resulted in an earlier onset latency of stepping to recover the balance. This control depends on the combination of biomechanical constraints and cognitive processes, including subject's interpretation of the instructions and evaluation of the risk of fall.  相似文献

The Arabidopsis photoreceptors cry1, cry2 and phyB are known to play roles in the regulation of flowering time, for which the molecular mechanisms remain unclear. We have previously hypothesized that phyB mediates a red-light inhibition of floral initiation and cry2 mediates a blue-light inhibition of the phyB function. Studies of the cry2/phyB double mutant provide direct evidence in support of this hypothesis. The function of cryptochromes in floral induction was further investigated using the cry2/cry1 double mutants. The cry2/cry1 double mutants showed delayed flowering in monochromatic blue light, whereas neither monogenic cry1 nor cry2 mutant exhibited late flowering in blue light. This result suggests that, in addition to the phyB-dependent function, cry2 also acts redundantly with cry1 to promote floral initiation in a phyB-independent manner. To understand how photoreceptors regulate the transition from vegetative growth to reproductive development, we examined the effect of sequential illumination by blue light and red light on the flowering time of plants. We found that there was a light-quality-sensitive phase of plant development, during which the quality of light exerts a profound influence on flowering time. After this developmental stage, which is between approximately day-1 to day-7 post germination, plants are committed to floral initiation and the quality of light has little effect on the flowering time. Mutations in either the PHYB gene or both the CRY1 and CRY2 genes resulted in the loss of the light-quality-sensitive phase manifested during floral development. The commitment time of floral transition, defined by a plant's sensitivity to light quality, coincides with the commitment time of inflorescence development revealed previously by a plant's sensitivity to light quantity - the photoperiod. Therefore, the developmental mechanism resulting in the commitment to flowering appears to be the direct target of the antagonistic actions of the photoreceptors.  相似文献

The relative contribution of rods, cones, and melanopsin to non-image-forming (NIF) responses under light conditions differing in irradiance, duration, and spectral composition remains to be determined in humans. NIF responses to a polychromatic light source may be very different to that predicted from the published human action spectra data, which have utilized narrow band monochromatic light and demonstrated short wavelength sensitivity. To test the hypothesis that only melanopsin is driving NIF responses in humans, monochromatic blue light (lambda(max) 479 nm) was matched with polychromatic white light for total melanopsin-stimulating photons at three light intensities. The ability of these light conditions to suppress nocturnal melatonin production was assessed. A within-subject crossover design was used to investigate the suppressive effect of nocturnal light on melatonin production in a group of diurnally active young male subjects aged 18-35 yrs (24.9+/-3.8 yrs; mean+/-SD; n=11). A 30 min light pulse, individually timed to occur on the rising phase of the melatonin rhythm, was administered between 23:30 and 01:30 h. Regularly timed blood samples were taken for measurement of plasma melatonin. Repeated measures two-way ANOVA, with irradiance and light condition as factors, was used for statistical analysis (n=9 analyzed). There was a significant effect of both light intensity (p<0.001) and light condition (p<0.01). Polychromatic light was more effective at suppressing nocturnal melatonin than monochromatic blue light matched for melanopsin stimulation, implying that the melatonin suppression response is not solely driven by melanopsin. The findings suggest a stimulatory effect of the additional wavelengths of light present in the polychromatic light, which could be mediated via the stimulation of cone photopigments and/or melanopsin regeneration. The results of this study may be relevant to designing the spectral composition of polychromatic lights for use in the home and workplace, as well as in the treatment of circadian rhythm disorders.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The objective of the present study was to assess the effect of combining CBT-I with wearing blue-light blocking glasses 90 min prior to bedtime on subjective and objective sleep parameters and daily symptoms (anxiety, depression, hyperarousal). Thirty patients (mean age 48.1 ± 16.13 years, range 21–71, 15 men/15 women) completed a CBT-I group therapy program, with groups randomly assigned to either “active” (blue-light filtering glasses) condition or “placebo” (glasses without filtering properties) condition. Patients were continually monitored by wristwatch actigraphy, kept their sleep diaries and completed a standard questionnaire battery at admission and after the end of the program. Statistical analyses showed a greater reduction of BAI score in “active” (4.33 ± 4.58) versus “placebo” (?0.92 ± 3.68) groups of patients [F = 6.389, p = .019, Cohen’s d = 1.26] and significant prolongation of subjective total sleep time in “active” (?36.88 ± 48.68 min.) versus “placebo” (7.04 ± 47.50 min.) [F = 8.56, p < .01, d = 0.91] group. When pre- and post-treatment results were compared in both groups separately, using paired-samples t-tests, significant differences were observed also in the active group for BDI-II score (t = 3.66, p = .003, Cohen’s d = 0.95) and HAS score (t = 2.90, p = .012, Cohen’s d = 0.75). No significant differences were found in the placebo group. In active group, there was also a significant reduction of subjective sleep latency (t = 2.65, p = .021, d = 0.73) and an increase of subjective total sleep time (t = ?2.73, p = .018, d = ?0.76) without change in objective sleep duration which was significantly shortened in the placebo group. We provide further evidence that blocking short-wavelength light in the evening hours may be beneficial for patients suffering from insomnia.  相似文献

THE AIM OF THE STUDY: To investigate by means of pattern visual evoked potentials (PVEPs) early neuropathic changes in Graves' ophthalmopathy (GO) patients without any clinical symptoms of optic neuropathy in order to evaluate the prevalence of subclinical optic neuropathy in GO patients and to elucidate whether there is a relationship between PVEP (P100 and N75 latency), intraocular pressure (IOP) and exophthalmometry. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Two groups of patients were examined: 15 patients with GO without clinical signs of dysthyroid optic neuropathy (DON) and 12 healthy controls. The correlations between the N75 and P100 latencies, IOP and Hertel exophthalmometry were investigated. RESULTS: The mean PVEP N75 and P100 latencies were significantly delayed in the GO uncomplicated with DON in comparison with controls (LP100- 106.2 +/- 4.4 ms vs. 102.4 +/- 2.7 ms, p < 0.01 and LN75- 79.0 +/- 3.7 ms vs. 73.9 +/- 2.8 ms, p < 0.001). In GO patients we documented a positive correlation between the LN75 latency and exophthalmometric readings (R = 0.51; p < 0.01). The value of LP100 and LN75 was above the normal limit in 5/30 eyes (17%) and in 3/30 eyes (10%) respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The assessment of PVEPs (especially the P100 latency) in GO patients without clinical signs of DON is a useful tool for the early diagnosis of optic nerve involvement.  相似文献

The field dependence of relaxation times of the C-1 carbon of glycogen was studied in vitro by natural-abundance 13C NMR. T1 is strongly field dependent, while T2 does not change significantly with magnetic field. T1 and T2 were also measured for rat hepatic glycogen enriched with [1-13C]glucose in vivo at 4.7 T, and similar relaxation times were observed as those obtained in vitro at the same field. The in vitro values of T1 were 65 +/- 5 ms at 2.1 T, 142 +/- 10 ms at 4.7 T, and 300 +/- 10 ms at 8.4 T, while T2 values were 6.7 +/- 1 ms at 2.1 T, 9.4 +/- 1 ms at 4.7 T, and 9.5 +/- 1 ms at 8.4 T. Calculations based on the rigid-rotor nearest-neighbor model give qualitatively good agreement with the T1 field dependence with a best-fit correlation time of 6.4 X 10(-9) s, which is significantly smaller than tau M, the estimated overall correlation time for the glycogen molecule (ca. 10(-5) s). A more accurate fit of T1 data using a modified Lipari and Szabo approach indicates that internal fast motions dominate the T1 relaxation in glycogen. On the other hand, the T2 relaxation is dominated by the overall correlation time tau M while the internal motions are almost but not completely unrestricted.  相似文献

Tonic inhibition of some respiratory muscles occurs as part of the generalized muscle atonia of rapid-eye-movement sleep (REMS). A second type of inhibition of the diaphragm during REMS, fractionations, consists of brief pauses in the diaphragmatic electromyogram (DIA EMG) in association with phasic events. Because motor inhibition can occur as part of the startle response, and the brain is highly activated during REMS, we hypothesized that the neural basis of the fractionations might be activation of a startle network. To test this hypothesis, tone bursts (100 dB, 20-ms duration at 15-s intervals) were applied to cats at a fixed inspiratory level in the DIA moving average during REMS, non-rapid-eye-movement sleep (NREMS), and wakefulness. Parallel sham studies (no tone applied) were obtained for each state. The response of the DIA EMG was averaged over 100 ms by using the tone pulse as a trigger, and the following parameters of the DIA EMG were measured: latency to peak and/or nadir, increment or decrement in activity, and duration of peak and/or nadir. After a tone, all five animals studied displayed a profound suppression of DIA activity during REMS (latency to nadir 42.4 +/- 10.0 ms, duration of suppression 35.9 +/- 17.6 ms). Similarly, DIA activity was suppressed in all cats during NREMS (latency to nadir 40.9 +/- 13.3 ms, duration 23.9 +/- 13.4 ms). An excitatory response was observed in only two cats during NREMS and wakefulness. The similarity of startle-induced DIA EMG pauses to spontaneous fractionations of DIA activity during REMS suggests that the latter result from activation of a central startle system.  相似文献

In the sensorimotor cortex of rabbits with a hidden focus of excitation in the CNS, the firing rate of neurons that responded to light was significantly lower (p = 0.01) than the firing rate of neurons that did not respond to light. The same phenomenon was observed in the visual cortex of intact rabbits. Both in intact rabbits and animals with the hidden focus of excitation, 36% of neurons in the sensorimotor responded to a nonspecific for them light stimulation. In the sensorimotor cortex of rabbits with the hidden focus of excitation, more (p = 0.01) neurons responded to light with the latency lower that 100 ms and less (p = 0.02) neurons responded to light with the latency from 200 to 300 ms as compared to intact animals. In the visual cortex of rabbits with the hidden excitation focus, less (p = 0.01) neurons responded to light stimulation with the latency from 50 to 100 ms as compared to intact rabbits.  相似文献
