The effects of fat source (0.7 kg of fatty acids from extruded soybeans or palmitic acid), of sodium bicarbonate (0.3 kg) plus straw (1 kg) and the interaction of these treatments on the content of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) in the milk of dairy cows were examined. During nine weeks a group of 10 cows received a ration with palmitic acid and bicarbonate plus straw (ration PAB). During three periods of three weeks a second group of 10 cows received successively a ration with extruded soybeans and bicarbonate plus straw (ration ESB), a ration with palmitic acid without bicarbonate or straw (ration PA), and a ration with extruded soybeans without bicarbonate or straw (ration ES). Rations ES and ESB increased the content of polyunsaturated fatty acids in milk, but decreased milk fat content, compared to rations PAB and PA. Ration ESB led to the greatest milk CLA content, by a synergy between the high amount of dietary fat, and the action of bicarbonate plus straw, favouring trans11 isomers of CLA and C18:1, presumably via a ruminal pH near neutrality. Ration ES favoured trans10 isomers, not desaturated in the mammary gland, so that the milk CLA content was lower than with ration ESB, and resulted in the lowest milk fat content. In conclusion, a ration supplemented with both extruded soybeans and bicarbonate plus straw, was an efficient way to increase the CLA content in the milk of dairy cows.  相似文献

将72尾杂交罗非鱼分别养在12个水槽内,每个水槽内养6尾大小不同的鱼(A、B、C、D、E、F),其中鱼A的初始体重为62.69±1.46g,B为56.48±1.30g,C为50.75±1.19g,D为35.56±1.18g,E为31.05±0.88g,F为27。35±0.95g(平均值±标准误).在4周实验中,实验鱼分别被停食或每天按体重1.5%、3.0%和饱食水平投喂.鱼的特定生长率(SGR)和食物效率(FE)先随食物水平增加而增加,当食物水平超过鱼体重的3.0%后,继续增加投喂量,SGR不再升高而FE明显下降.按体重1.5%投喂的鱼SGR和终体重个体间变异较大.对鱼A而言,食物水平超过体重1.5%后对其SGR无显著影响,但对鱼F而言,食物水平对SGR影响较大.结果表明,杂交罗非鱼的生长和个体生长分化与食物条件和初始体重有关,当食物水平超过体重的3.0%后,鱼的SGR较高,个体生长分化相对较轻.  相似文献

In their first 150 days of lactation, nine Ragusana jennets were investigated at the 'Istituto Sperimentale Zootecnico per la Sicilia' (ISZS) in Palermo, to study the effects of different milking typologies on milk production. The jennets were kept in a paddock and were fed hay ad libitum and concentrate (3.5 kg jennet/day). From post-foaling day 21, every 3 weeks individual milk amounts were recorded, and individual milk samples were collected and analyzed for the main qualitative parameters. The compared theses were: two daily milking times with 6- and 3-h intervals; and two, three and eight daily milking times with 3-h interval. The jennets were manually milked. The foals were separated from the jennets at 0800 h, and after the last milking the foals were housed with the jennets. During the day with eight milkings, the milk yield from the jennets was fed to their respective foals, through bottles. The 6-h milking interval produced more milk (+19%) per session than the 3-h interval (P 0.01). The fat content per session, with the eight-time milking frequency (P 0.001), was greater than the others. For each milking typology, the lactation stage had a similar effect on almost all the considered variables. When observing the eight-milking times, the fat content (%) increased from 1100 to 0500 h (P 0.001). The milk yield and the fat percentage produced by two-, three- and eight-milking times were positively correlated.  相似文献

Several processes have been suggested to protect lipids from bioactivity of the rumen microorganisms. The majority of experiments with conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) were conducted using calcium salts of CLA. The objectives of this study were to determine the effects of encapsulated CLA (E-CLA) that was supplemented during days 21 to 100 post partum (PP), on milk fat depression, recovery rate and performance parameters. Forty-two multiparous Israeli-Holstein cows were divided at day 21 PP into two treatment groups: (i) control - supplemented with 43 g/day per cow of calcium salts of fatty acids (FAs). (ii) E-CLA - supplemented with 50 g/day per cow of encapsulated lipid supplement providing 4.7 g/day per cow of trans-10, cis-12 CLA. Post-treatment cows were followed for recovery rate until 140 days PP. Dry matter intake (DMI) during the treatment period was reduced by 2.5%, and milk yield was enhanced by 4.5% in the E-CLA cows. Milk fat percentage and yield were reduced by 13% and 9%, respectively, in the E-CLA treatment as compared with the control. The energy-corrected milk output was 3.6% higher in the control group than in the E-CLA group. Yields of trans-10, cis-12 CLA isomer in milk was 2.13-fold higher in the E-CLA cows than in the controls. Full recovery to milk fat percentage of the control group occurred 4 to 5 weeks after cessation of the E-CLA supplementation. No differences between groups were observed in any fertility parameter that was tested. In conclusion, the E-CLA supplement decreased DMI, enhanced milk yield, and decreased energy output in milk, and was effective in depressing milk fat. Full recovery to the milk fat content, but not yield, of the control group in the E-CLA group was relatively slow and occurred 4 to 5 weeks after termination of the supplementation.  相似文献

This paper describes the results from an experiment with four Jersey calves. The calves were bucket fed with a milk substitute consisting of skimmed milk powder and marine fat, supplemented with soyalecithin, vitamins and minerals. They were slaughtered after 30–32 days of such feeding. During the last two weeks a balance study was performed with a collection period of two days. Hay was given ad lib., and during the balance period the calves took between 125–150 g per day. The lipid content of the hay was considered negligible. Total content and distribution of fatty acids in the milk substitute are shown in Table 1. Table 2 shows the age of the calves, the total intake of lipid and fatty acids, and the total amount of fatty acids excreted with feces. In ruminants the Stimulation of papillar growth by butyric acid is well described but effects on mitosis and apoptosis are not known. To clarify the effect of short chain fatty acids three groups of three calves received a basic ration of 100 g hay per day for 6 weeks and additionally milk replacer. From these, two groups were fed with increasing amounts of the salts of either propionic acid (53 to 390 g) or butyric acid up to (54 to 326 g). The control group instead received an additional isocaloric amount of milk replacer. Mitosis was characterized by Ki67 immunoreactivity, apoptosis by a modified TUNEL assay and by electron microscopy. The feeding regimes led to significant differences of papillar length, increasing from 1.0mm (controls) to 2.2 mm (propionic acid) and 4 mm (butyric acid). This enlargement was partly explained by an increased mitotic rate for the two fatty acid groups. The difference between the fatty acid groups was mainly explained by different apoptotic rates which were only one third for butyric acid compared to propionic acid (P < 0.001). In conclusion, butyric acid is a specific inhibitor of ruminal apoptosis in vivo.  相似文献

BackgroundAlthough manganese (Mn) is an essential nutrient, recent research has revealed that excess Mn in early childhood may have adverse effects on neurodevelopment.MethodsWe estimated daily total Mn intake due to breast milk at average body weights by reviewing reported concentrations of breast milk Mn and measurements of body weight and breast milk intake at 3 weeks, 4.25 months, 7 months, and 18 months. We compared these figures to the Mn content measured in 44 infant, follow-up, and toddler formulas purchased in the United States and France. We calculated Mn content of formula products made with ultra-trace elemental analysis grade water (0 μg Mn/L) and with water containing 250 μg Mn/L, a concentration which is relatively high but less than the World Health Organization Health-based value of 400 μg Mn/L or the United States Environmental Protection Agency Health Advisory of 350 μg Mn/L.ResultsEstimated mean daily Mn intake from breast milk ranged from 1.2 μg Mn/kg/day (3 weeks) to 0.16 μg Mn/kg/day (18 months), with the highest intakes at the youngest age stage we considered, 3 weeks. Estimated daily Mn intake from formula products reconstituted with 0 μg Mn/L water ranged from 130 μg Mn/kg/day (3 weeks) to 4.8 μg Mn/kg/day (18 months) with the highest intakes at 3 weeks. Formula products provided 28–520 times greater than the mean daily intake of Mn from breast milk for the 4 age stages that we considered. Estimated daily Mn intake from formula products reconstituted with water containing 250 μg Mn/L ranged from 12 μg Mn/kg/day to 170 μg Mn/kg/day, which exceeds the United States Environmental Protection Agency Reference Dose of 140 μg Mn/kg/day for adults.ConclusionsMn deficiency is highly unlikely with exclusive breast milk or infant formula feeding, but established tolerable daily intake levels for Mn may be surpassed by some of these products when following labeled instructions.  相似文献

Balance experiments have demonstrated that growing pigs fed a ration consisting of wheat, barley, extracted soya meal, dicalciumphosphate, and iodine‐free feeding salt utilised 48.8% of the received iodine.

The tested supplementary iodine sources included potassium iodide (KI), ethylenediamine dihydroiodide (EDDI), iodine humate (HUI) prepared from iodine acid (HIO3), and the product P containing 0.004% iodine in an oil base (P). The amount of the supplemented iodine was in all cases 1 mg per 1 kg feed.

The utilisation of iodine from the supplements reached 93.6, 92.6, 90.7, and 67.9% for KI, EDDI, P, and HUI, respectively. The values were significantly higher compared with controls (P < 0.01). Compared with KI and EDDI, the utilisation of iodine from HUI was significantly lower (P < 0.01). The lower availability of iodine from HUI was probably due to the high binding capacity of humate.

The amount of urinary iodine excreted by control pigs receiving in the non‐supplemented ration 147.5 μg iodine per day, was 40.3 μg per day (27.3%). In the pigs receiving in the supplemented ration 1647.5 μg iodine per day, the amount of urinary iodine reached 734.9 to 805.0 μg per day (44.6 to 48.9%). The corresponding values of faecal excretion were 75.6 μg iodine per day (51.2%) for the control pigs and 106.2 to 121.1 μg iodine per day (6.45 to 7.35%) for the pigs fed the supplemented rations. A high amount of 528.6 μg iodine per day (32.1%) was excreted in the faeces by pigs of the group HUI.  相似文献

Milk was obtained from three captive servals. The average nutrient content was 158.3+/-44.4 g protein; 152.6+/-62.3 g fat; and 68.7+/-31.4 g lactose per kg milk. The protein fraction respectively consisted of 117.7+/-44.8 g caseins per kg milk and of 40.6+/-6.7 g whey proteins per kg milk. Electrophoresis and identification of protein bands showed a similar migrating sequence of proteins as seen in cheetah and cat milk, with small differences in the beta-caseins. The lipid fraction contains 313.3+/-18.8 g saturated and 338.6+/-11.9 g mono unsaturated fatty acids per kg milk fat respectively. The high content of 292.4+/-24.9 g kg(-1) milk fat of polyunsaturated fatty acids is due to a high content in linolenic acid. No short chain fatty acids, but substantial levels of uneven carbon chain fatty acids were observed. In general, serval milk has a higher protein and fat content than that of the domestic cat and cheetah, and a lower content of unsaturated fatty acids than that of the domestic cat.  相似文献

Milk intake of fox cubs (2-16 days of age; body weight, 96-649 g) in ten blue fox litters and ten silver fox litters were measured by the water isotope dilution (WID) technique following a single intraperitoneal injection of tritiated water (3HHO). Litter size varied from four to 14 in blue foxes and from three to eight in silver foxes. Silver fox cubs had higher birth weights than blue foxes. Inter-species body weights and growth rates were apparently dependent on litter size and the dam's constitution. In both species growth rate increased with age and body weight (7-35 g per day). In the cubs, the biological half-life of body water turnover (BWT) rose from 1.5 days at 2-3 days of age to 2.5 days at 13-16 days of age, although a considerable scatter was seen. The mean daily milk intake of the cubs varied with body weight, from 31 to 193 g per day, whereas daily milk intake per unit of body mass remained stable at 30-35 g per 100 g body weight. The ratio of milk intake to body weight gain varied considerably among cubs, averaging 4.5 g/g during the 3-week experimental period. In suckling fox cubs, the calculated daily intake of metabolically energy (ME) corresponded fairly with the estimated energy requirements for growth and maintenance of the young. Finally, the applicability and the accuracy of the WID technique was evaluated in ten 3-week-old fox cubs, by tube-feeding with a milk replacer for 48 h, which documented that the daily rates of milk intake and water turnover can be accurately measured in suckling fox cubs by the WID technique following a single injection of 3HHO.  相似文献

The effect of an increase in plasma osmolality on the milk-ejection reflex of rats was studied. The lactating rats, at day 8-12 of lactation, were anesthetized with urethane (1.1 g/kg, i.p.) and 8-11 pups which had been separated from their mother 16-18 h were put to the nipples to suckle. In 21 of 47 rats studied an intermittent pattern of milk ejection was recorded with a latency of 15-74 min (group-I rats). The mean interval between recurring milk ejections was 8.3 +/- 0.6 (S.E.M.) min and the mean amount of oxytocin released at each milk ejection estimated in 11 of them was 0.26 +/- 0.04 mU. The remaining 26 rats showed no milk ejection throughout the nursing period of more than 90 min (group-II rats). The intraperitoneal injection of 1.5 M NaCl (1 ml) had no effect on the interval between milk ejections but increased the amount of oxytocin released at each milk ejection by 2.4 times in group-I rats, as the plasma osmolality changed from 297.9 +/- 2.7 mOsm/kg to 310.4 +/- 3.6 mOsm/kg. On the other hand, the 1.5 M NaCl injection induced recurring reflex milk-ejections in all of the group-II rats, while the plasma osmolality increased from 307 +/- 2.8 mOsm/kg to 320 +/- 3.1 mOsm/kg. The mean interval was not significantly different from that observed in the group-I rats. The sensitivity of the mammary gland to oxytocin was not altered by the 1.5 M NaCl injection. Twenty-four lactating Holstein dairy cows (12 first lactation and 12 multiparous; day in milk = 11 ± 5 days) were allotted to a randomised complete block design in a 2 × 3 factorial with four replicates per treatment to evaluate the effects of two methods of alfalfa feeding (dry and reconstituted to achieve a theoretical dry matter (DM) content of 350 g/kg) and three geometric mean (GM) particle sizes of alfalfa (9.13, 4.51 and 1.20 mm) on performance of dairy cows for a period of 28 days. Diets were offered for ad libitum intake as total mixed rations (TMR). The GM particle size, its standard deviation, and the values of physical effectiveness factor of alfalfa and TMR decreased as alfalfa particle size decreased. Reduction of particle size and reconstitution of alfalfa increased the bulk density and the functional specific gravity of alfalfa and rations. Reduction of particle size decreased insoluble dry matter, water-holding capacity, and hydration rate of alfalfa. As particle size decreased, the amount of physically effective NDF in the ration (g/kg) decreased but the daily intake of physically effective NDF (kg/day) increased. Reduction of particle size and reconstitution increased dry matter intake (DMI) and ruminal passage rate, but reduced NDF and ash digestibilities, ruminal pH, N-NH3, milk fat, total chewing activity, rumination and eating time, total and ruminal mean retention time, and time delay of marker. Increased functional specific gravity, from reduced forage particle size and the reconstitution of alfalfa, was the most important factor influencing DMI, milk composition, and chewing activity.  相似文献

This study evaluated whether differences in milk fever incidence among Swedish dairy herds could be explained partly by differences in mineral feeding during the last weeks of gestation. A case–control study was performed on dietary risk factors for a high incidence of milk fever at the herd level using information regarding feeding and management of the dry cows collected in a written questionnaire distributed by post in spring 2008. The study was conducted from September 2004 to August 2007. Data on the diets fed to dry cows, with an emphasis on the amounts of minerals (Ca, P, Mg and K) fed 3 weeks before calving and at calving, were obtained from 30 herds belonging to the 100 Swedish herds with the highest recorded incidence of veterinary treatment for milk fever (>8.8%) and from 22 herds with no recorded milk fever treatments. Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that a linear increase in the total amount of K and less than 26 g of Mg/day fed to dry cows 3 weeks before calving was associated with an increased risk of high milk fever incidence. A large increase in the amount of dry matter (DM) fed (>3.1 kg DM extra per day at calving compared with 3 weeks before calving) was associated with a higher incidence of milk fever, but no differences were found for Ca or P intake. Breed composition, herd average milk yield and age composition of the herd did not explain any of the observed differences between the case and the control herds. The results indicate that differences in the frequency of milk fever among herds can be associated with differences in mineral feeding of the dry cows. A high amount of K in the diet may increase the risk of milk fever linearly, whereas Mg should probably be fed at a higher level than the current Nordic recommendation to prevent milk fever.  相似文献

The effects of variations in suckling stimulus (changes in letter size) and exposure to high ambient temperatures on the quality and quantity of rat's milk and mammary tissue structure were determined. By increasing the number of suckling pups per dam, it was found that the amount of milk produced by the animals was proportionally increased, as each pup was able to drink the same amount of milk per day. With more than 6 pups per litter, the quality of the milk was not significanly changed. Smaller letters led to changes in the amount of milk suckled per milking and to considerable changes in the content of the milk. Exposure to high ambient temperatures, although for only 8 hr per day, drastically affected the amount of milk produced by the lactating rat as well as the quality of the milk produced. Microscopic examination of mammary tissue revealed changes in the alveolar area and height of the alveolar cells as the suckling stimulus varied. After heat exposure the gland changed to one of diminished synthesizing capability. It was concluded that 10-pup litters are the optimal litter size for research concerning rat milk, and the exposure to high ambient temperatures affects the milk yield by directly affecting the alveolae.  相似文献

Two experiments were carried out to study the effects of supplementing the ration of lactating ewes with vegetable fats (sunflower oil, SO or hydrogenated palm oil, HPO; HIDROPALM®) on diet digestibility, milk yield and milk composition, and on the concentration of the conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) C18:2 cis-9 trans-11 and C18:1 trans-11 (vaccenic acid, VA) and other main fatty acids in milk fat. Treatments involved a control diet, without added oil, and 2 diets supplemented with either 12 g/kg SO or 12 g/kg HPO on a dry matter (DM) basis. In the first experiment, 6 non-pregnant, non-lactating Lacaune ewes were used following a 3 × 3 replicated Latin Square design. Addition of vegetable fat supplement to the diet increased digestibility of DM, organic matter (OM) and crude protein (CP), but did not affect that of the ether extract (EE), neutral detergent fibre (NDF) or acid detergent fibre (ADF). In the second experiment, 60 Lacaune dairy ewes mid-way through lactation (120 ± 12 days in milk, 0.98 ± 0.03 kg/day average milk yield) were divided into three equal-sized groups each of which was assigned to one of the three experimental diets for 4 weeks. Compared with the control treatment, supplementation with HPO increased milk yield and energy-corrected milk. But neither vegetable fat supplement modified percentages of fat and protein in milk. Supplementation with HPO increased C14:1, C16:1 and C16:0 content and reduced C18:0 and C18:1 cis-9 content in milk fat. Supplementation with SO increased the VA content in milk fat by 36% and that of cis-9 trans-11 CLA by 29% in comparison with the control diet. Supplementation with HPO led to milk fat with 15% more cis-9 trans-11 CLA than control milk. In conclusion, adding a moderate dose of HPO or SO to the diets increased CLA concentration in milk fat. Nevertheless, supplementation with SO was more effective than HPO in increasing CLA concentration in milk fat and reducing the atherogenicity index, improving milk quality from the human health standpoint.  相似文献

The objectives of this study were to evaluate effects of feeding propylene glycol (PG) on feed intake, milk yield and milk composition, blood metabolites and energy balance in Holstein dairy cows from 1 to 63 days in milk. Thirty-two multiparous cows, blocked by lactation number, previous 305-day milk production and expected calving date, were arranged into four groups in a randomized block design. Treatments were: control, low PG, medium PG and high PG with 0, 150, 300 and 450 ml PG per cow per day, respectively. The supplement of food grade PG (0.998 g/g PG) was hand-mixed into the top one-third of the daily ration. Cows were fed ad libitum a total mixed ration consisting of forage and concentrate (50 : 50, dry matter basis). Feed intake, milk yield and milk components were not affected (P > 0.05) by PG supplementation. Overall, body weight (BW) loss tended (P < 0.08) to be linearly reduced, and energy status was linearly improved with increasing PG supplementation. Concentrations of glucose in plasma were higher for cows fed PG relative to control (55.6 v. 58.9 mg/dl) and linearly increased (P < 0.01) with increasing PG supplementation. Plasma concentrations of non-esterified fatty acids and beta-hydroxybutyrate were linearly increased, but urine acetoacetate concentration was quadratically changed with the highest for control diet and the lowest for 450 ml/day of PG. These results indicated that supplementation of PG in the early lactating cow diets had minimal effects on feed intake and milk production, but may potentially reduce contents of milk fat and milk protein. Supplementation of early lactating dairy cow diets with PG is beneficial in terms of improving energy status and reducing BW loss.  相似文献

The objective of the present study was to determine the effects of rumen-protected choline (RPC) supplementation on body condition, milk production and milk choline content during the periparturient period. Thirty-two Holstein cows were allocated into two groups (RPC group - with RPC supplementation, and control group - without RPC supplementation) 28 days before the expected calving. Cows were fed the experimental diet from 21 days before expected calving until 60 days of lactation. The daily diet of the RPC group contained 100 g of RPC from 21 days before calving until calving and 200 g RPC after calving for 60 days of lactation, which provided 25 g and 50 g per day choline, respectively. Body condition was scored on days -21, 7, 35 and 60 relative to calving. Milk production was measured at every milking; milk fat, protein and choline content were determined on days 7, 35 and 60 of lactation. Body condition was not affected by RPC supplementation. Milk yield was 4.4 kg higher for the group of cows receiving supplementary choline during the 60 days experimental period and 4% fat-corrected milk production was also increased by 2.5 kg/day. Milk fat content was not altered by treatment, but fat yield was increased by 0.10 kg/day as a consequence of higher milk yield in the RPC-treated group. Milk protein content tended to increase by RPC supplementation and a 0.18 kg/day significant improvement of protein yield was detected. Milk choline content increased in both groups after calving as the lactating period advanced. However, milk choline content and choline yield were significantly higher in the RPC group than in the control group. The improved milk choline and choline yield provide evidence that some of the applied RPC escaped ruminal degradation, was absorbed from the small intestine and improved the choline supply of the cows and contributed to the changes of production variables.  相似文献

Milk yield and composition of major milk constituents were measured in captive, nursing reindeer. Registration of milk production was performed during two successive lactations (2001 and 2002). The milk yield was significantly affected by week of lactation (P<0.001) and by individual (P<0.001). The lactation curve had an asymmetrical peak 3 weeks postpartum and the milk yield at peak lactation was 983 g/day (range 595-1239). The length of lactation varied from 24 to 26 weeks and average total milk production was 99.5 kg. From peak lactation the milk production decreased linearly (P<0.001) until milk production was terminated. Mean values for content of major milk constituents were 15.5% fat, 9.9% protein and 2.5% lactose. The content of fat and protein increased markedly with the lactation stage (P<0.001), while lactose showed a slight decrease (P<0.001). The milk composition was significantly affected by stage of lactation (P<0.001). There was a marginally significant decrease in protein:fat ratio (P=0.06) as protein was substituted by fat with stage of lactation. The caloric value of the milk averaged 8.7 kJ/g and increased significantly with the stage of lactation (P<0.001). The overall increase in milk gross energy content during lactation was 67.6%. The energy output averaged 7996 kJ/day at peak lactation and decreased significantly during the course of lactation (P=0.002).  相似文献

Only one study previously reported comprehensively on the composition of African elephant's (Loxodonta africana) milk that was collected from 30 dead animals. In the current study milk was obtained from a tame but free-ranging African elephant cow without immobilization during the period when she was 4-47 days postpartum. At the respective collection times the nutrient content was 21.8 and 25.0 g protein; 56.0 and 76.0 g fat; 71.1 and 26.0 g sugars per kilogram of milk. The protein fraction, respectively, consisted of 10.0 and 14.0 g caseins/kg milk and of 11.8 and 11 g whey proteins/kg milk. During lactation the lactose content dropped from 52.5 to 11.8 g/kg milk, while the oligosaccharide content increased from 11.8 to 15.2 g/kg milk. The oligosaccharide was characterized as a galactosyllactose, which is digestible by cellulase. Electrophoresis and identification of protein bands showed a similar migrating sequence of proteins as seen in cow's milk, but some of the corresponding proteins were less negatively charged. The lipid fraction contains a high content of capric and lauric acids, approximately 60% of the total fatty acids, and low content of myristic, palmitic and oleic acids.  相似文献
