Gene frequencies and admixture estimates in a Mexico City population   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
Five hundred and ten students of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México were tested to determine the distribution of ABO, MN, Rr-Hr blood groups, and serum haptoglobin, albumin, and Factor Bf types. Based on the results we found that the proportion of Indian and White genes are of 56.16 and 43.84%, respectively in the dihybrid model and 2.93, 56.22, and 40.85% for Blacks, Indians, and Whites in the trihybrid one. The present study reveals a higher proportion of Indian genes in the Mexico City population than estimated in previous publications. Reasons why the present results apply to a much larger group of Mexico City mestizos than the previous ones are given.  相似文献

Indoor and outdoor airborne fungal propagule concentrations in Mexico City   总被引:7,自引:0,他引:7  
Thirty homes of asthmatic adults located in Mexico City were examined to determine the predominant culturable fungi and the changes in their airborne concentrations. Fungi were cultured and identified microscopically from air samples collected in naturally ventilated homes, during both wet (July–August) and cool dry (November–December) seasons, and from settled dust from the same homes. Airborne dust from indoor yielded 99–4950 cfu m−3, and settled dust 102–106 cfu g−1 on DG18 agar. The indoor geometric mean concentration of airborne fungi during the cool dry season was 460 cfu m−3 while in the wet season it was 141 cfu m−3. Similarly, numbers of airborne fungal propagules out of doors decreased 60% between the dry and wet season. In general, the total fungal concentrations in indoor air were less than 103 cfu m−3 and a large proportion of them was collected in Stage-2 of the Andersen sampler. Moreover, the ratio between indoor and outdoor concentrations was <3:1. Five of the 30 sampled homes yielded >500 cfu m−3 of one genus, with up to 1493Cladosporium cfu m−3 or 2549Penicillium cfu m−3. Also, these two genera were predominant in both airborne and settled dust, and their concentrations were greater indoors than out, indicating a possible indoor source of fungal propagules. The predominant species wereCladosporium herbarum, Penicillium aurantiogriseum andP. chrysogenum. These results suggest that exposure to large concentrations of fungi occurs indoors and is associated with both seasons of the year and with particular home characteristics.  相似文献

Background

We previously reported that asthmatic children with GSTM1 null genotype may be more susceptible to the acute effect of ozone on the small airways and might benefit from antioxidant supplementation. This study aims to assess the acute effect of ozone on lung function (FEF25-75) in asthmatic children according to dietary intake of vitamin C and the number of putative risk alleles in three antioxidant genes: GSTM1, GSTP1 (rs1695), and NQO1 (rs1800566).

Methods

257 asthmatic children from two cohort studies conducted in Mexico City were included. Stratified linear mixed models with random intercepts and random slopes on ozone were used. Potential confounding by ethnicity was assessed. Analyses were conducted under single gene and genotype score approaches.

Results

The change in FEF25-75 per interquartile range (60 ppb) of ozone in persistent asthmatic children with low vitamin C intake and GSTM1 null was −91.2 ml/s (p = 0.06). Persistent asthmatic children with 4 to 6 risk alleles and low vitamin C intake showed an average decrement in FEF25-75 of 97.2 ml/s per 60 ppb of ozone (p = 0.03). In contrast in children with 1 to 3 risk alleles, acute effects of ozone on FEF25-75 did not differ by vitamin C intake.

Conclusions

Our results provide further evidence that asthmatic children predicted to have compromised antioxidant defense by virtue of genetic susceptibility combined with deficient antioxidant intake may be at increased risk of adverse effects of ozone on pulmonary function.  相似文献

A series of air temperature (Ta) and relative humidity (HR) measurements were carried out in five urban parks and their surroundings in Mexico City. It was found thatTa is lower andRH is higher inside the parks. There were differences (P<0.05) between the parks and surroundings in air temperature, relative humidity, vapour pressure (e), vapour pressure deficit (VPD) and the thermohygrometric human comfort index (THI).Ta differences were more marked during the early afternoon. Maximum differences ofTa, e, andDPV were 5.6°C, 0.6 and 1.2 mbar. There is strong evidence that the magnitude of differences inTa are directly proportional to the surface of urban parks.  相似文献

在高分辨率影像提取福州市南台岛(仓山区)住宅用地的基础上,从覆盖研究区的30m×30m网格中随机选择50个样方进行表层土壤取样,进而分析这一快速城市化地区住宅用地表层土壤有机碳密度(Soil organic carbon density,SOCD)的变异特征及其影响因素。结果表明:城市地区住宅用地在剧烈的人类活动干扰下,土壤呈现明显的空间变异特征,其SOCD平均值为33.814t/hm~2,变异系数达72.8%,其中郊区村镇住宅用地0—20cm土层的SOCD高于城市居住用地72%,预示着村镇就地城市化后将造成土壤碳储量的下降;然而,表层土壤有机碳含量与密度在建成时间为0—5年和5—10年的城市住宅小区间无显著差异,只有住宅建成时间达到10—15年才有显著提高。基于湿度、热度、绿化率与物业管理费等因子构建的城市住宅区绿化环境管理质量指标,与城市居住区表层土壤有机碳含量及密度存在显著正相关,与土壤容重呈显著负相关,成为快速城市化地区影响SOCD变异的另一主要因素。  相似文献

Abstract

Platinum (Pt) concentrations in PM2.5 were evaluated by means of inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) to evaluate the spatial and temporal behavior and to assess trends. Samples were taken from five representative sites in the Mexico City Metropolitan Area (MCMA): Tlalnepantla-northwest (NW), San Agustin-northeast (NE), La Merced -center (C), Coyoacan-southwest (SW), and Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana Iztapalapa-southeast (SE). Under three weather conditions: dry warm (DW-April), rainy (R-August), and dry cold (DC-November) in 2013. We found that the PM2.5 median mass concentration was 24?μg m?3?±?15?μg m?3 while Pt concentration was 55?pg m?3?±?15?pg m?3 (median, interquartile range). Seasonal trend was identified: the concentrations decreased significantly in the following order DC?>?R>DW. No spatial distribution was observed. Interestingly, among other meteorically parameters, wind intensity resulted to be the major factor for the dispersion of Pt in PM2.5 in MCMA. Furthermore, we found that Pt concentrations increased significantly by 19.6% between 2011 and 2013. Regardless of the increase in Pt, carbon monoxide (CO) levels decreased opposite to a rise in vehicular fleet. These results urge for environment public policies that address the upward tendency of Pt levels especially in urban areas.  相似文献

The daily and seasonal distribution of airborne fungal particles was recorded in a high altitude tropical zone. Sampling was carried out in the southern part of Mexico City. An Andersen air sampler was used over a period of six months. Ten minutes sampling for each set of plates was done at fixed schedule: 07:30, 14:00 and 19:00 hours. The sampler was placed 10 m above the ground. Daily variation was found to be associated with the season, weather and atmospheric stability. The highest value of mold counts (3195 CFU m−3) was recorded in the evening on October, a transitional month between the rainy and the dry seasons, the lowest (45 CFU m−3) at noon during the rainy season. Mold counts were significantly correlated with temperature, having negative signs both in the morning and at noon, and being positive in the evening. The abundance of only three genera was recorded.Cladosporium, was isolated more frequently, and its abundance at 14:00 h was of 38%;Alternaria represented 4.0%, at 14:00 h, andAspergillus 3.0% at 7:30 h. Fifteen species belonging to the latter genera were identified and most of them are considered as opportunistic molds of clinical significance.  相似文献

Stegomyia aegypti (= Aedes aegypti) (Diptera: Culicidae) is a species of mosquito that is currently widespread in Mexico. Historically, the mosquito has been distributed across most tropical and subtropical areas lower than 1700 m a.s.l. Currently, populations that are found at higher altitudes in regions with cold and dry climates suggest that these conditions do not limit the colonization and population growth of S. aegypti. During a survey of mosquitoes in September 2015, larvae of S. aegypti mosquitoes were found in two different localities in Mexico City, which is located at about 2250 m a.s.l. Mexico City is the most populous city in Mexico and has inefficient drainage and water supply systems. These factors may result in the provision of numerous larval breeding sites. Mosquito monitoring and surveillance are now priorities for the city.  相似文献

A total of 24 taxa were identified and classified according to the growing form in pollen of trees, weeds and grasses. Pollen grains were recorded all year round with a peak in December. The trees group showed the highest quantity of pollen as well as taxa diversity, although its peak period was in the dry season. The weeds and grasses emitted a larger quantity of pollen in the rainy season. The dominant taxa wereAlnus, Casuarina, Compositae and Gramineae. As for their relation with meteorological parameters, we found that the increase of pollen concentration was related to high temperatures, low relative humidity and high wind speed, the latter causing an increase of airborne pollen with no dilution at all. 选取深圳市3个典型居住小区为研究对象,利用实地观测及景观格局分析方法,探讨居住区绿地植物冠层格局特征对微气候的影响.各小区内布设22~26个观测点,以测点周边20 m×20 m范围为一个样区,将样区划分为有植物冠层遮盖和无植物冠层遮盖两种斑块类型,计算了斑块密度和景观聚集度两种格局指数,分析了样区内绿化植物冠层格局指数与温湿度之间的关系.结果表明:深圳市绿地冠层格局显著影响其温、湿度调控效应,温度调控能力主要来自绿地植物的遮荫作用,还与绿地的植物绿量有关;裸露地表聚集度的增加对绿地温湿度调控功能有显著的负面影响;居住小区绿地的温湿度调控能力主要来自乔木树种.  相似文献

The protein associated with airborne particles was measured during 1991 as an indicator of airborne biological material in different outdoor urban environments. Fifty air samples were collected simultaneously at three sampling sites, located in the north, south and downtown Mexico City, using a PM10 high-volume sampler (particles<10 μm). The air filters were weighed and protein extracted using a phosphate buffer. Protein concentrations were determined by Lowry assay. The extracts were also analysed by SDS electrophoresis and IEF using a Phastsystem. High concentrations of airborne particles were recorded at the sampling sites with a geometric mean of 70.2 μg/m3 in the south (residential area), 95.5 μg/m3 in the center (urban-commercial area), and with the highest value of 108.9 μg/m3 in the north (urban-industrial area). No statistically significant difference (P>0.05) was observed among the protein concentrations from the sampling sites and the concentrations ranged from non-detectable to 2.54 μg/m3. However, the protein concentrations presented significant difference (P<0.05) with respect to rainy and dry seasons. The Spearman correlation coefficient between protein concentration and airborne particles concentration was statistically significant (r=0.50). The molecular weights (MW) and isoelectric points (pI) for the proteins present in some of the extracts were determined. The values ranged from approximately 8000 to 106 000 Da and the pI values from nearly 4.0 to 5.85. This is important because the major allergens from inhalants are mostly acidic proteins with molecular weights in the range of 20 000–40 000 Da.  相似文献

The Poaceae family includes approximately 700 genera and 10000 species, and Mexico is considered one of its most important centers of diversity and endemism. A total of 256 taxa (including 16 subspecific taxonomic units), belonging to 65 genera, are endemic to Mexico. Some of them are close relatives of important crops, while others are used in different ways all over the country. The aim of this paper is to discuss the distribution patterns at state level of the Mexican endemic species of Poaceae. Using cluster strategies, the states are classified according to their floristic similarities. Later, hotspots of endemism are identified, in order to discuss their role in conservation strategies. To evaluate the importance of each state in the conservation of the Mexican endemic Poaceae, two iterative complementarity methods were also used. Our results show that the largest concentration of endemic taxa occurs in a few states, such as Jalisco, Mexico, Michoacán, Durango, Oaxaca, Veracruz, San Luis Potosi, Chiapas, Chihuahua, Puebla, and Coahuila. The results also show that there are some patterns in the relationship to its endemism that seem to reflect important diversification trends in the family. Accordingly, 31% of the grass genera of Mexico have at least one endemic species, and 16.7% of the genera have only one endemic species. In contrast, six genera contribute 47.2% of the total number of grass endemics in Mexico. The Chloridoideae contributes 42.9% of the total grass endemic species of Mexico, whereas the Panicoideae includes 24.6%, and the Pooideae 19.8%. Thus, these three subfamilies contribute about 87% of the species endemism. On the basis of the habitat and distribution patterns of these subfamilies, two main areas of endemicity can be identified. The first area is located in warm habitats, whereas the second is related to temperate and high regions. The cluster analyses indicate the occurrence of four state groups whose phytogeographical explanation is discussed on the basis of a floristic regionalization of Mexico. The results also indicate the need to establish a relatively high number of sites and states for the conservation of 256 endemic taxa. The elevated number of sites required to conserve the Mexican endemic Poaceae is mainly due to the fact that many taxa have a restricted distribution pattern. On the basis of the patterns obtained, a few proposals are presented for undertaking the establishment of conservation priorities of these taxa.  相似文献

Mexico has been an exporter of carrageenophytes for the last 30 years, but to date there is no commercial production of carrageenan. In the last 10 years the carrageenan consumption in Mexico has increased significantly. During this same period, an increasing number of studies related to carrageenophytes and their industrialization in Mexico have been performed. In this paper, the feasibility of a carrageenan industry in Mexico is analyzed utilizing available information. Future necessary research is suggested where data is lacking. The analysis includes the availability of seaweed biomass, carrageenan types, extraction technology, national demand and possibilities of joint ventures under the NAFTA treaty.  相似文献

为了农村居民点优化布局和公共服务资源优化配置,运用复合生态位对农村居民点适宜性进行评价。根据栖霞市山地特点以及农村居民点用地特征,基于生态位理论,从生态条件、生产条件和生活条件3方面选取相关指标,选取地形位、坡向、水源影响度、地质灾害作为生态条件的评价指标;生产条件选取工商业用地比例、工商业用地可达性、耕地和园地面积、耕地和园地可达性作为评价指标;生活条件选取农村居民点规模、城镇中心可达性和道路通达度作为生活条件评价指标。采用可达性测算、聚类分析、适宜性评价等定量分析和定性分析相结合的方法,确定适宜性等级,并与提取出的农村居民点用地相叠加,将农村居民点分为重点发展型、适度发展型、限制扩建型和优先整治型4种类型,分别占总规模的35.19%、35.10%、20.29%和9.42%。重点发展型地理位置优越,交通便捷,基础设施较完善,建议有序调整内部结构促进集约利用;适度发展型村庄处于起步阶段,受闲散地较多、土地利用方式粗放的限制,建议盘活存量用地,循环利用旧宅基地和闲置宅基地;限制扩建型受地形复杂、农业生产生活条件较差的限制,建议维持现状,引导人口外迁,推动宅基地腾退;优先整治型受地势较高、生态环境脆弱、离水源较远,交通不便,易发灾害限制,建议村庄搬迁。最后结合研究区山地农村居民点特点提出了不同类型居民点相应的调控模式。研究能够揭示农村居民点的现状和适宜性,为当前农村居民点优化布局提供理论基础,同时丰富了生态位理论在不同领域中的应用,对农村居民点优化布局具有一定的指导意义。  相似文献

Asteraceae species diversity is high in the xerophytic scrub of the Ecological Reserve of the Pedregal of San Angel (REPSA), located in the southern part of the Basin of the Valley of Mexico. Here we determined whether the frequency of polyploidy is high in the reserve, given the enhanced ability of polyploids to colonize new habitats. In addition, we compared the frequency of polyploidy in Asteraceae in the reserve with the frequency in three oceanic archipelagos and two continental areas in Mexico. This was done to see how the ‘virtual’ island of the open lava flow in the reserve compares with volcanic islands at different distances from source areas. Chromosome numbers for 75 species of Asteraceae were obtained from published literature. Based on the possession of three or more basic chromosome sets in a nucleus, 33% were polyploids. If taxa with haploid chromosome numbers of n ≥ 14 or n ≥ 11 were considered to be polyploids, the proportion of polyploids rose to 57 and 75%, respectively. When using a phylogenetic approach, the highest percentage of polyploids (84%) was obtained and it could be inferred whether they are palaeo‐ or neopolyploids; thus, we consider that this criterion better reflects the events of polyploidy in Asteraceae. A high frequency of polyploid species in Asteraceae in REPSA suggests that polyploids may have contributed to the species diversity and the vegetation structure of the xerophytic scrub of this reserve. © 2013 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society, 2013, 173 , 211–229.  相似文献

This paper examines the role of Mexico as importer, manufacturer, producer and distributor centre of reptile skins from non-native and native species, through a combination of documentary research and survey methods. A number of key findings were derived from this study. Although Mexico has adopted the “System for the Conservation, Management and Sustainable Use of Wildlife” (SUMA), the country still relies on reptile skins from non-native species. In contrast, the smaller numbers of skins used from native species mainly derive from captive breeding schemes that although biologically sustainable, provide no incentive for habitat conservation. Sustainable use of reptile skins from native species could positively encourage conservation in Mexico. However, as a megadiverse country with potential to produce wildlife, Mexico will have to implement an appropriate regulatory framework to support local communities to promote the sustainable use of native species.  相似文献
