Abstract

A new species of Carabus (Lamprostus) from the province of Gilan, Iran, is described and illustrated: Carabus (Lamprostus) staveni sp. nov., Carabus (Pachystus) rechingerae Mandl, 1972, is considered a junior synonym of Carabus (Lamprostus) calleyi nigrinus Motschulsky, 1865. The specific status of Carabus (Sphodristocarabus) korgei Heinz, 1970, is restored (stat. rev.) and Carabus separatus delirensis Deuve, 2000, is considered to be a junior synonym of it. Carabus (Megodontus) stroganowi javahardensis Deuve, 2000, is considered to be a synonym of Carabus (Megodontus) heinrichi Mandl, 1966; both taxa are from the same type locality.  相似文献

The growth, reproduction and condition of adults of the three dominant fish species (roach, Rutilus rutilus, (L.); perch, Perca fluviatilis, L. and ruffe, Gymnocephalus cernuus, (L.)) in the eutrophic Lake Aydat were studied over one year cycle. Compared to published data, the growth of R. rutilus and G. cernuus was about average, while that of P. fluviatilis was below average. Comparing to literature, the fecundity of R. rutilus and G. cernuus was low but their oocytes were large. In contrast, P. fluviatilis had a high fecundity but small oocytes. At the end of summer, an abrupt decrease in the condition was recorded only for perch, probably due to stress as a result of environmental conditions. The sex-ratio was in favour of females for the three studied species but, in contrast to G. cernuus, the sex-ratio of R. rutilus and P. fluviatilis increased significantly also with age. It is concluded that Lake Aydat is a more favourable environment for R. rutilus and G. cernuus than for P. fluviatilis.  相似文献

A series of sequential polypeptides (LysiRj)n (R is Leu, Ser, or Gly) and random copolypeptides, (Lysx, Leuy)n, were synthesized. Their conformation in NaDodSO4 solution was determined by CD. Only (Lys-Leu)n, (Lys-Ser)n, and (Lys3-Ser)n adopt a stable β-form in the surfactant solution; (Lys-Ser2)n, (Lys-Ser3)n, (Lys2-Ser2)n, and (Lys2-Ser)n have an unstable β-form, which reverts to an unordered form in high NaDodSO4 concentrations, even though both Ser and DodSO-bound Lys+ are β-formers. In contrast, (Lys-Gly)n remains unordered in NaDodSO4 solution. On the other hand, Lys-rich (Lys2-Leu)n forms an unstable helix and (Lys2-Leu2)n a stable helix in NaDodSO4 solution. In 25 mM NaDodSO4 (Lysx, Leuy)n also forms a helix up to x = 75 and reverts to the β-form at x = 90. This compares with the helical conformation of (Lysx, Alay)n up to x = 65 and its β-form at x = 90, suggesting that Leu is an even stronger helix-former than Ala. Our results may provide a plausible explanation for the increase in helicity and disruption of the β-form for many proteins in NaDodSO4 solution, that is, the polypeptide chain of a protein usually favors a helical conformation over a β-form in the presence of excess surfactant.  相似文献

Numerous individuals of the poorly known species Lecithostaphylus retroflexus (Zoogonidae) and Tergestia acanthocephala (Fellodistomidae) have been recovered from the teleost fish Belone belone gracilis from off the Scandola Nature Reserve, Western Mediterranean. They are redescribed, incorporating previously undescribed features: for L. retroflexus, a post-oral ring, a bipartite seminal vesicle, the shape of the excretory vesicle, the subterminal excretory pore and the flask-shaped gland-cells associated with the distinctly pedunculate ventral sucker; and for T. acanthocephala, the intestinal bifurcation in the forebody, necessitating its return to the genus Tergestia from Theledera. Additionally, T. acanthocephala is compared with T. laticollis from various species of Trachurus from the same geographical area.  相似文献

The genus Symbiodinium is the commonly observed symbiotic dinoflagellate (zooxanthellae) that forms mutual associations with various marine invertebrates. Numerous studies have revealed that the genus is comprised of a group of diverse taxa, and information on the phylogenetic relationships among the genus’ members is increasing. In this study, small subunit (SSU) ribosomal RNA (ssrRNA) gene sequences were determined for 15 more Symbiodinium strains from 12 relatively unstudied host taxa (Indo-Pacific tridacnids, cardiids, sponge, and soft coral), 1 hitherto unreported free-living Symbiodinium strain, and 4 other Symbiodinium strains from four other host taxa (Indo-Pacific zoanthid, foraminifer, jellyfish, and mid-Pacific hard coral). Their respective phylogenetic positions were inferred, and strains that are either closely related to or distinct from previously reported Symbiodinium taxa were revealed. The cultured Symbiodinium strains isolated from individuals of six species of tridacnids and three species of cardiids all had identical ssrRNA gene sequences, are closely related to S. microadriaticum Freudenthal, and are indistinguishable from the RFLP Type A strain previously reported. However, the ssrRNA gene sequences of clam symbionts that were obtained via gene cloning were different from those of the cultured isolates and represent strains that are close to the RFLP Type C strains. The Symbiodinium-like dinoflagellate from the Indo-Pacific sponge Haliclona koremella De Laubenfels is distinct from any of the Symbiodinium taxa studied and may be similar to the symbiont previously isolated from the stony coral Montipora patula Quelch. The isolates from the soft coral Sarcophyton glaucum Quoy et Gaimard and from the zoanthid Zoanthus sp. are both very closely related to S. pilosum Trench et Blank. The free-living Symbiodinium isolate is very closely related to the symbiont isolated from the Indo-Pacific foraminifer Amphisorus hemprichii Ehrenberg, which in turn is distinct from the Red Sea strain isolated from a similar host. Theisolate from Cassiopeia sp. is different from S. microadriaticum F., the type species harbored by Cassiopeia xamachana Bigelow, and is instead very closely related to S. pulchrorum Trench isolated from a sea anemone. The symbiont from the stony coral M. verrucosa Lamarck is a sister taxon to the symbionts isolated from the foraminifera Marginopora kudakajimensis Gudmundsson and Sorites orbiculus Forskål. These data suggest that polymorphic symbioses extend from cnidarians to some bivalve, foraminifer, and jellyfish host species.  相似文献

The unarmoured dinoflagellate Nusuttodinium aeruginosum retains a kleptochloroplast, which is a transient chloroplast stolen from members of the cryptomonad genus, Chroomonas. Both N. aeruginosum and the closely related N. acidotum have been shown to restrict their diet to a limited number of species of this blue‐green genus of cryptophyte. However, it is still unclear how flexible the predators are with regard to the ingestion and utilization of Chroomonas spp. as a source of kleptochloroplast. To address specificity of cryptomonad in N. aeruginosum, we collected the cells of N. aeruginosum from several ponds in Japan, and analysed the phylogeny of the kleptochloroplasts based on their plastidial 16S rDNA sequences. All sequences obtained in this study were restricted to only one (the subclade 4) of four subclades known to comprise the Chroomonas/Hemiselmis clade. Therefore, N. aeruginosum is specific in its dietary requirements, selecting their prey within the subclade level.  相似文献

AINTEGUMENTA (ANT) promotes initiation and growth of ovule integuments which cell fate is specified by ovule identity factors, such as SEEDSTICK (STK), SHATTERPROOF1 (SHP1) and SHATTERPROOF2 (SHP2). To study the genetic interaction between ANT and the ovule identity genes, we have obtained a stk shp1 shp2 ant quadruple mutant. The molecular and morphological characterization of the quadruple mutant and its comparison with the stk shp1 shp2 triple mutant, the shp1 shp2 ant triple mutant and the stk ant double mutant are here presented.  相似文献

Neoechinorhynchus (Neoechinorhynchus) chimalapasensis n. sp. (Eoacanthocephala: Neoechinorhynchidae) is described from the intestine of Awaous banana (Valenciennes) (Pisces: Gobiidae) collected in the Río Negro, a tributary in the upper Río Coatzacoalcos basin, Santa María Chimalapa, Oaxaca State, Mexico. It is the third species of Neoechinorhynchus Stiles & Hassall, 1905 described from Mexican freshwater fishes, although 36 other species are known from freshwater fishes in the Americas. Like four other species of Neoechinorhynchus from freshwater fishes in North America and Mexico, N. (N.) limi Muzzall & Buckner, 1982, (N.) rutili (Müller, 1780) Stiles & Hassall, 1905, N. (N.) salmonis Ching, 1984 and N. (N.) roseus Salgado-Maldonado, 1978, males and females of the new species are less than 20 mm in length, lack conspicuous sexual dimorphism in size, have a small proboscis of about 0.1 mm in length with the largest hooks being the anteriormost, about 30–90 μm in length and of equal size, and have subequal lemnisci, larger than the proboscis receptacle but still relatively short and, in males, generally restricted to a position considerably anterior to the testes. The new species is closest to N. (N.) roseus, but it is distinguished from it by having: (1) a slightly larger cylindrical proboscis with almost parallel sides versus a globular proboscis with a rounded tip which is shorter and somewhat wider in N. (N.) roseus; (2) smaller but robust anterior proboscis hooks that do not reach the equatorial level or extend beyond the hooks of the middle circle as in N. (N.) roseus; and (3) the female gonopore situated ventrally subterminal, as opposed to being a significant distance anteriorly to the posterior extremity in N. (N.) roseus.  相似文献

The fixation of dien-Pt on poly(I)·poly(C) leads to only minor changes in the uv and CD spectra at ambient temperature, showing that there is little perturbation of the secondary structure in the rb range studied (up to 0.30). However, the melting profiles show two steps. The Tm for strand separation increases linearly from 61°C (rb = 0) to 80°C (rb = 0.18), after which it declines on further increasing the rb. The second melting step is not complete at 100°C, and the magnitude of the absorbance change in this second step also appears to be at a maximum at rb = 0.18. Although dien-Pt can only coordinate to one base, the nmr spectra at 80°C also show a second type of interaction with the adjacent bases, which is only destroyed in the presence of a strong denaturing agent, 5M guanidinium hydrochloride. From these results and the spectrophotometric data, we observe that dien-Pt forms a triple sandwich by hydrogen bonding of the platinum amino groups to the adjacent hypoxanthine bases (N7). The presence of these hydrogen bonds accounts for the increased stability (maximal at one Pt to three hypoxanthine bases) and their rupture is seen in the second melting step. No interaction has been observed with poly(C) strand. Reaction of dien-Pt with poly(I) shows the formation of the same triple sandwich structure in the nmr spectra.  相似文献

The diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella (L.) is a major pest of crucifers in Iran. In this study, the influence of two sublethal concentrations (LC10 and LC25) of an insect growth regulator, hexaflumuron on life expectancy (e x ), stable age distribution (C x ), age-specific fertility (m x ) and number of fertile eggs per day was investigated. Results showed that the sublethal doses of hexaflumuron decreased life expectancy (e x ), age-specific fertility (m x ) and number of fertile eggs per day of P. xylostella. Also stable age distribution (C x ) of population in next generation was changed and rate of adults in sublethals was increased compared to control. According obtained results, hexaflumuron is a good choice for IPM strategy in controlling the diamondback moth.  相似文献

Summary Genetic studies on radiation-induced chlorina and variegated mutants of okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench) revealed the existence of an unstable gene. The normal green color of the leaves is controlled by duplicate genes C1 and C2, either of which produces the green colour. The chlorina plants are C 1 C 1 C 2 C 2. The allele c 1 v is dominant to both C 1 and C 2 but is unstable. The homozygote c 1 v c 1 v c 2 c 2 is a normal green while the heterozygote c i v c 1 c 2 c 2 has a variegated phenotype as a result of the mutation of c 1 v to c 1 during development. In green plants with a c 1 v c{sh1/v}c 2 c 2 genotype, the autonomous mutation of one of the c 1 v alleles to c 1 may take place at the pre-meiotic stage. In the variegated genotype (c 1 v c 1 c 2 c 2), the mutation of c 1 to c 1 v may take place in early ontogeny, thus producing green plants. The allele C 1, when associated with c 1 v in a heterozygous condition, mutates to c 1 at the pre-meiotic stage even in the presence of the allele C 2.  相似文献

The covalent binding of trans-Pt (NH3)2Cl2 to the double-stranded poly(I)·poly(C) follows three types of reactions, depending on rb and the concentration of polynucleotide in the reaction mixture. At rb ? 0.1, the principal reaction is coordination to poly(I), giving rise to some destabilization of the double strand, as shown by uv and CD spectra, and a decrease in Tm values, giving rise to free loops of poly(C). At higher rb and low polynucleotide concentration, the free cytidine bases react with platinum bound on the complementary strand to form intramolecular (interstrand) crosslinks that restabilize the double-stranded structure. At high rb and high polynucleotide concentration, while the above reaction still occurs, the predominant one is the formation of intermolecular crosslinks. Five known species (asperulus Quate & Fairchild, erebicolus Quate, pholetor Quate & Fairchild, sejunctus Quate, and stellae Quate) of the caverni-colous subgenus Phlebotomus (Idiophlebotomus) are discussed in relation to newly recognized species from West Malaysia and India. P. frondifer n.sp. and P. tubifer n.sp. are described and a key to the adults of all seven species is given. General features of the subgenus are discussed, with particular reference to the functional relationships between the specialized morphology of the mouthparts and the probable bat hosts of these species.  相似文献

Summary The ultrastructure of the blood vessels of Branchiostoma has been studied using selected characteristic vessels as examples. It is shown that the vessels are a part of the original blastocoelic cavity and are delimited either by the basal laminae of adjacent epithelia or by connective tissue developed in the blastocoelic space. A brief account of the kinds of connective tissue is given. The observed contractility of some vessels depends on two types of contractile filaments situated in the basal part of the surrounding coelomic epithelia. Amoebocytelike cells are present in the blood. They may sometimes lie in contact with the wall of the vessels or with each other, but never form a typical endothelium with junctional complexes and a basal lamina of its own. Actually, there is no endothelium in any part of the vascular system. It is suggested that the term endothelium should be reserved for a closed cellular lining (with junctions) on the luminal side of the vessel wall, standing on a basal lamina of its own and forming a barrier for the exchange between blood and surrounding tissue. It is concluded that the principal structure of the vascular system of Branchiostoma is different from that of vertebrates, but the same as that of other coelomate invertebrates. The origins of capers, their use and cultivation are discussed. Capers seeds and charcoal are often recovered from archaeological sites of the Mediterranean and West Asia. These are referred to as C. Spinosa L. This is mostly a group of cultivars restricted to localities surrounding the Western Mediterranean and some places in the Eastern Mediterranean. Identification of the findings is discussed in terms of seed morphology, present distribution and ancient uses of C. aegyptia Lam., C. sicula Veill., C. cartilaginea Decne, C. orientalis Veill., C. decidua (Forssk.) Cytological and morphological variation among Krigia species is examined. Krigia exhibits a broad range of chromosome numbers including n = 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 15, and 30. Section Krigia is characterized by reflexed phyllaries and a base chromosome number of x = 5, while section Cymbia is characterized by erect phyllaries and chromosome numbers of n = 4, 6, and 9. The micromorphological characteristics of achenes, pappus, styles, corolla, pollen, stomata, and trichomes are documented using scanning electron microscopy. Among these, the pappus shows the greatest diversity and three major types are identified: 1) a pappus of many bristles and scales, as in K. dandelion, K. montana, and K. biflora; 2) a pappus of five bristles and five scales, as in K. virginica and K. occidentalis; and 3) an absent or highly reduced pappus, as in the K. cespitosa complex and K. wrightii. Thirty-five cytological and morphological characters are subjected to phylogenetic analyses. The two sections, Krigia and Cymbia, form monophyletic lineages. Within section Krigia, the annual species, K. virginica, forms an independent clade, while the perennial species, K. dandelion, K. biflora, and K. montana, form a monophyletic clade. Krigia montana and K. biflora are identified as sister species and a hybrid between these has been identified. The hybrid is more similar morphologically to K. montana than K. biflora. Within section Cymbia, phylogenetic relationships among K. wrightii, K. occidentalis, and K. cespitosa are uncertain. Nine taxa of Krigia are herein recognized: K. dandelion, K. biflora, K. biflora var. viridis (comb. nov.), K. montana, K. virginica, K. wrightii (comb. nov.), K. occidentalis, K. cespitosa, and K. cespitosa f. gracilis (comb. nov.). Phylogenetic relationships among 12 taxa of Krigia species are compared using various combinations of morphology, chloroplast DNA, and nuclear ribosomal DNA data. Tree topologies from different combinations of data are largely congruent. The most resolved phylogenetic tree is obtained using the combined data from morphology, chloroplast DNA, and nuclear ribosomal DNA.  相似文献

Six clades are inferred from a phylogenetic analysis including 42 species belonging to the Empis (Coptophlebia) hyalea‐group. These clades are named as follows: E. (C.) acris, E. (C.) aspina, E. (C.) atratata, E. (C.) hyalea, E. (C.) jacobsoni and E. (C.) nahaeoensis. The presence of two dorsal more or less developed epandrial projections is considered autapomorphic for the E. (C.) hyalea‐group in addition to two characters previously found to support the monophyly of this group (presence of an unsclerotized zone in the middle of labella and epandrium unpaired). Amongst the cladistically analysed species, 24 are newly described [ E. ( C. ) acris , E. ( C. ) aspina , E. ( C. ) cameronensis , E. ( C. ) duplex , E. ( C. ) incurva , E. ( C. ) inferiseta , E. ( C. ) kuaensis , E. ( C. ) lachaisei , E. ( C. ) lamellalta , E. ( C. ) lata , E. ( C. ) loici , E. ( C. ) longiseta , E. ( C. ) mengyangensis , E. ( C. ) menglunensis , E. ( C. ) missai , E. ( C. ) nimbaensis , E. ( C. ) padangensis , E. ( C. ) parvula , E. ( C. ) projecta , E. ( C. ) pseudonahaeoensis , E. ( C. ) submetallica , E. ( C. ) urumae , E. ( C. ) vitisalutatoris and E. ( C. ) woitapensis ], five are reviewed [E. (C.) hyalea Melander, E. (C.) jacobsoni De Meijere, E. (C.) ostentator Melander, E. (C.) sinensis Melander and E. (C.) thiasotes Melander] and 13 were recently described in two previous papers. Two additional species, E. (C.) abbrevinervis De Meijere and E. (C.) multipennata Melander, are also reviewed but not included in the cladistic analysis since they are only known from the female. A lectotype is designated for E. (C.) jacobsoni. A key is provided to the six clades of the E. (C.) hyalea‐group as well as to species of each clade. A catalogue of the E. (C.) hyalea‐group, including 72 species, is given. The taxonomic status of 25 additional species mainly described by Bezzi and Brunetti, from the Oriental and Australasian regions, is discussed. The E. (C.) hyalea‐group is firstly recorded from the Palaearctic Region and Australia. The type series of Progynotaenia evaginata Fuhrmann, 1909 from Burhinus senegalensis in Sudan, P. foetida Meggitt, 1928 from B. oedicnemus in Egypt and Angularia australis Maplestone, 1921 from B. grallarius in Australia are redescribed. As a comparative material, specimens of P. evaginata from B. oedicnemus in Kazakhstan were studied. The type-series of P. evaginata and P. foetida were found to be heterogeneous due to the presence of scoleces and fragments of cestodes of the genus Stenovaria Spasskii & Borgarenko, 1973 (Dilepididae). For P. foetida, a lectotype is designated. P. foetida is recognised as a synonym of P. evaginata (new synonymy). Angularia australis, previously considered a member of the Dilepididae, is transferred to the Progynotaeniidae as a synonym of P. evaginata (new synonymy). The synonymy of P. indica Johri, 1963 with P. evaginata, proposed by Ryzhikov & Tolkacheva (1981), is supported. The host range and the geographical distribution of P. evaginata are restricted to birds of the genus Burhinus from the Eastern Hemisphere.  相似文献

Conformational analysis of triple helics of a type of collagen was performed with typical collagen tripeptide sequences based on Gly-Pro-Ala, Gly-Ala-Hyp, and Gly-Ala-Ala. During energy minimization, the possibility of continual deformation of the pyrrolidine cycle was taken into account in order to achieve better accuracy in the resulting structure. The (Gly-Pro-Ala)n structure is almost isomorphic to the (Gly-Pro-Hyp)n structure obtained in the previous work [Tumanyan, V. G. & Esipova, N.G. (1982) Biopolymers 21 , 475–497]. For a collagen-type structure, the optimal conformation of (Gly-Ala-Hyp)n tends to have a decreased unit twist (t = 15°), although the energy advantage with respect to the conformation with t = 45° is not so significant. A similar situation is observed for (Gly-Ala-Ala)n. In this case, the energy decrease during unwinding to t = 15° from t = 45° is quite small. The conformations of (Gly-Ala-Hyp)n and (Gly-Ala-Ala)n with t = 15° exhibit a similarity with a triple complex of polyproline II helices—a noncoiled coil such as (Gly-Pro-Hyp)n and (Gly-Pro-Ala)n. A similar structure may be postulated for subcomponent cq1 of the first component of a human complement containing substantial Gly-X-Pro and Gly-X-Y tripeptide derivatives in the primary structure (X, Y = any amino acid). The results suggest that the observed helical symmetry of collagen (t = 36°) is a consequence of superposition of diffraction patterns (for sufficiently long segments) from various helices (t varies from ~15° for Gly-X-Hyp and Gly-X-Y to ~56° for Gly-Pro-Ala). For short alternating segments, some unification of different helical structures is possible.  相似文献
