Estimating the size-selection curves of towed gears,traps, nets and hooks   总被引:20,自引:0,他引:20  
A general statistical methodology for analysis of selectivity data from any type of fishing gear is presented. This formal statistical modelling of selectivity is built on explicit definitions of the selection process and specification of underlying assumptions and limitations, and this gives the resulting estimates of gear selectivity (and possibly fishing power) a clear interpretation. Application of the methodology to studies using subsampled catch data and to towed gears having windows or grids is outlined, and examples applied to passive nets and towed gears are presented. The analysis of data from replicate deployments is covered in detail, with particular regard to modelling the fixed and random effects of between-haul variation. Recent developments on the design of selectivity experiments are introduced and demonstrated.  相似文献

To overcome the problems usually met as a consequence of small numbers of fish collected for trout stock size evaluation in small rivers, a selectivity function was developed and tested in two small rivers in western Switzerland. The function takes the form In E = bL −k where E is the fishing efficiency, L is the fish length in cm, k is a constant and b is the slope, estimated by regression analysis.
A good fit was obtained for k = 1 (R. Flon de Carrouge) and k = 2 (R. Cerjaule). Individual selectivity functions have to be computed for each survey, because they depend on the operators of the fishing gear and on the physical and biological conditions in the rivers.
The results are discussed in the light of the Petersen mark-recapture method and the De Lury removal method for stock evaluation. The mark-recapture method gives better results when time intervals between successive fish removals are short.  相似文献

The decline in stocks of commercial fish species has been documented in several regions of the world. This decline is due partially to the effect of evolutionary pressure caused by the management of fishing activity, which reduces the size of fish after a few generations. In this paper, the population dynamics of the Pintado Pseudoplatystoma corruscans, one of the main commercial species of freshwater fish in Brazil, were simulated considering different scenarios of fishing mortality and different minimum and maximum lengths of capture. The results show that selective fishing based on the different proposed selectivity curves can result in an evolution-mediated increase in the growth rate of the fish, the biomass and the catch. This suggests that appropriate changes in Brazilian legislation can contribute to the sustainability of fisheries and to conservation of the fish stocks exploited by man.  相似文献

Fishing impacts on marine food webs are predicted by simulations of a size spectrum community model. In this model, predation is determined by predator and prey size and abundance, and drives predator growth and prey mortality. Fishing amplifies temporal oscillations in the biomass flow. Oscillations appear at lower fishing intensity and have wider amplitude when fishing is selective (removes a narrow size range) and/or when large fish are targeted, than when fishing is more balanced (catching a larger size range) or when small fish are targeted. A novel index of size diversity is developed, and is shown to be sensitive to both fishing intensity and selectivity. To avoid unstable food web dynamics with potential harmful consequences for fisheries, limiting both fishing intensity and selectivity might be an appropriate exploitation strategy.  相似文献

Leishmaniasis are infectious diseases caused by parasites of genus Leishmania that affect affects 12 million people in 98 countries mainly in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Effective treatments for this disease are urgently needed. In this study, we present a computer-aided approach to investigate a set of 32 recently synthesized chalcone and chalcone-like compounds to act as antileishmanial agents. As a result, nine most promising compounds and three potentially inactive compounds were experimentally evaluated against Leishmania infantum amastigotes and mammalian cells. Four compounds exhibited EC50 in the range of 6.2–10.98 μM. In addition, two compounds, LabMol-65 and LabMol-73, exhibited cytotoxicity in macrophages >50 μM that resulted in better selectivity compared to standard drug amphotericin B. These two compounds also demonstrated low cytotoxicity and high selectivity towards Vero cells. The results of target fishing followed by homology modeling and docking studies suggest that these chalcone compounds could act in Leishmania because of their interaction with cysteine proteases, such as procathepsin L. Finally, we have provided structural recommendations for designing new antileishmanial chalcones.  相似文献

A purpose-built, water-filled sorting tray was compared against a conventional dry tray for its utility in reducing discard mortality across a range of conditions in an Australian estuarine penaeid-trawl fishery, including the limits of typical delays in starting sorting (2 vs. 15 min). During nine days of fishing, up to 10 replicate deployments were done for each sorting method and delay. Bycatches (44 389 teleosts comprising 15 species) were assessed for their immediate mortalities, before 1346 live individuals (10 species) were released (to simulate discarding) into replicate cages and monitored for their short-term mortalities over five days. Appropriate controls were included for the most abundant economically-important species, yellowfin bream, Acanthopagrus australis. Most trawled-and-discarded teleosts followed a pattern of minimal differences in immediate mortalities between sorting methods for the short delay, but generally fewer deaths in the water tray than in the conventional tray during the longer delay. However, owing to a dominant and slightly protracted influence of the trawling process, comparable rates of deaths were observed for caged fish irrespective of their post-capture treatment. Mixed-effects logistic models applied to four key species (A. australis; silver biddy, Gerres subfasciatus; southern herring, Herklotsichthys castelnaui; and Port Jackson glassfish, Ambassis jacksoniensis) revealed that in addition to the method and delay in sorting, the weights of total catch and jellyfish, salinity and the size of fish also had significant impacts on mortality. For the longer delay in sorting in the water tray, the influences of some of the other factors were negated so that total mortalities of three of the modelled species were reduced by almost one quarter. We conclude that while unaccounted fishing mortality can be reduced via changes to onboard sorting procedures, this approach should only be applied ancillary to efficient gear selectivity.  相似文献

This study is an ecological analysis of the use of resources by two potentially competitive groups, the commercial and recreational fishermen of Rio Grande, located on the border of the States of SÃo Paulo and Minas Gerais. Tourism at Rio Grande was intensified after the construction of the hydroeletric plant of Marimbondo in 1974, and local fishermen have complained about its interference. Values of niche dimensions, such as fishing periods, grounds, and prey caught were obtained through data gathered at landing points. Local and recreational fishermen usually fish in different parts of the river and catch different fish, because they use different gear. However, in transition months between the wet and dry seasons, when fish are less abundant, there is conflict or competition related to fishing grounds, reinforced by the territorial fishing rights of local longline fishermen in this period. We show how ecological concepts, such as niche and competition, may help to understand strategies of exploitation by human groups, fundamental information for the management of tropical areas.  相似文献

渔场重心是表征渔场位置的重要参数,准确掌握渔场重心,对判断鱼类洄游路线、确定中心渔场、表征鱼群分布特征和变化规律具有重要意义。渔场重心计算采用的是固定物体重心计算方法,然而运动的鱼类和固定物体有着本质的区别。因此,由固定物体重心计算的渔场重心能否体现鱼群分布特征,值得深入研究。渔场重心信度是用于度量由固定物体重心计算的渔场重心表征鱼群分布特征的能力,体现渔场重心的可信程度,而渔场重心修正是为了提升渔场重心表征鱼群分布特征的能力,提高渔场重心信度,以准确掌握渔场重心。以闽南-台湾浅滩渔场二长棘鲷(Parargrops edita Tanaka)为例,采用渔场重心、几何中心和单位捕捞努力量渔获量(Catch Per Unit Effort,CPUE)为参数,首次建立了渔场重心信度测算及渔场重心修正理论和方法,分析了渔场重心信度,研究了渔场重心修正方法和渔场重心的分布特征,旨在从更精细地水平上掌握二长棘鲷渔场重心,为生态智慧在渔业资源开发和管理的应用提供可靠的数据支持。结果表明:(1)二长棘鲷渔场重心信度各月变化在0.12—1.00,平均值0.67,均方差0.31,各月渔场重心可信度波动较大,12月份和2月份渔场重心信度最大为1.00,鱼群对称和均匀分布于渔场重心,渔场重心可信度最高,3—8月份渔场重心信度低于0.70,鱼群在渔场重心周围的对称性和均匀度差,渔场重心可信度差,其中3月份渔场重心信度最小为0.12;(2)渔场重心信度不仅反映了渔场重心可信程度,还体现了鱼群在渔场重心周围的分布特征,可作为研究鱼群分布特征的重要参数,渔场重心信度低于0.70,渔场重心需要修正;(3)渔区修正系数用于判别鱼群所在渔区是否排除,通过去除渔区修正系数小于0.5的鱼群,能保留85%以上的鱼群数量,提高渔场重心信度0.70以上;(4)修改后的渔场重心变化规律较显著,4—5月份,幼鱼群体重心向西迁移,6—7月份,索饵群体重心向东北方向移动,8月份,索饵群体重心开始往南迁移,9—11月份,越冬群体重心逐渐向南移动,12月份,生殖群体重心继续往南迁移,1—3月份生殖群体主要集中在305渔区(119°15'E,23°15'N)附近进行生殖活动,鱼群少有迁移。  相似文献

North American paddlefish, Polyodon spathula, were once abundant in most large rivers and tributaries of the Mississippi River basin, but numbers have declined dramatically in most areas during the past 100 years. Habitat destruction and river modification are the most obvious changes affecting their distribution and abundance. Although peripheral range has dwindled, paddlefish still occur over most of their historic range and are still found in 22 states. Populations are currently increasing in 3 states, stable in 14, declining in 2, unknown in 3, and extirpated in 4. Sport harvests presently occur in 14 states, however two states with traditionally important sport fisheries report decreased recruitment into the population and are planning more restrictive regulations. Commercial fisheries are reported in only six states. During the past 10 years, five states have removed paddlefish from their commercial list primarily because of declines in adult stocks due to overfishing or illegal fishing. Ten states are currently stocking paddlefish to supplement existing populations or to recover paddlefish populations in the periphery of its native range.  相似文献

渔民作为长江十年禁渔的参与主体,其后续生计发展将直接决定此生态保护政策的实施成效。在重构非自愿生态移民生计脆弱性评价体系的基础上,结合长江流域重点禁渔水域典型退捕渔民的抽样数据,测度渔民生计脆弱性指数(LVI)并找出影响后续生计恢复的主要障碍因子,最后跨领域的引入支持向量回归(SVR)预测模型动态分析了不同区域渔户生计脆弱性的演变趋势。结果表明:(1)渔民弃船上岸后呈现出生计脆弱性的比例较高,但不同类型区域间存在明显差异,其中内湖保护区最高,干流非保护区次之而干流保护区最低;(2)敏感性维度在诱发渔民生计脆弱性上起着主导作用,即个体禀赋比安置区条件更为重要,特别是成员年龄大但无基本社保兜底,受教育程度低且"双转"难的渔民家庭更易陷入生计困境;(3)自然和金融资本是推动渔民生计恢复的主要生计资本,而阻碍渔民生计脆弱性降低的共性因子主要有上岸后的收支失衡,社会支持不足及过分依赖原有生计方式等,同时各区域在脆弱性各维度上还有特殊的障碍因子;(4)推动安置区经济社会发展和家庭转产增收后,并不一定能确保缓解未来五年中的渔户生计脆弱性程度,上岸后完成社会融入并有效降低生产生活成本也至关重要,而干流保护区则还需加强人力资本建设,否则后续将面临极高的返贫风险;(5)长江临近区域的同类渔民生计脆弱性现状、面临的生计风险、后续生计恢复的进程具有一定的相似性和规律性,生计监测和帮扶政策可进行协同统筹。  相似文献

The effects of size-selective fishing mortality on the growth of Atlantic cod ( Gadus morhuu L.) in the southern Gulf of St Lawrence were investigated and compared between: (1) a period when fishing mortality was relatively high, growth was relatively rapid, and abundance low (1967–1972 year classes): and (2) a period when fishing mortality was lower, growth was slow, and density high (1977–1982 year classes). Cod first entered the fishery at age 3 during both periods. The 1967–1972 year classes (fast growing) were fully recruited to the fishery by age 5 or 6 and the fishery removed over twice as many fish from the lower than upper quartiles of length-at-age distributions for cod 4 to 10 years old (disproportionately high exploitation of slow-growing fish). In contrast. the 1977–1982 year classes (slow growing) did not fully recruit to the fishery until age 9 or 10 and the fishery removed four times as many fish from the upper than lower quartiles of the length-at-age distributions for 4- to 10-year-old cod (disproportionately high exploitation of fast-growing fish). The reduced mean lengths-at-age of the 1977–1982 year classes compared with the 1967–I972 year-classes is consistent with the different patterns of exploitation of fast- and slow-growing fish for the two periods.  相似文献

An atrazine (ATR) molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was prepared using a non-covalent strategy. The affinity and selectivity of the polymer was initially evaluated under non-equilibrium conditions and the polymer was shown to possess good template selectivity. The selectivity of the polymer was further investigated under equilibrium conditions and over a range of concentrations using Scatchard plots and Hill plots and by assessing distribution coefficients and normalised selectivity values. It was observed that both selectivity and affinity were dependent on the concentration of the ligand and that unusually selectivity and affinity were better at higher atrazine concentrations. It was concluded that this phenomenon resulted from the formation of atrazine-atrazine complexes during the pre-polymerisation stage and during rebinding and that the polymer demonstrated improved atrazine affinity when the conditions favoured complex formation.  相似文献

While economic literature inspired by the “tragedy of the commons” has emphasised people’s tendency to increase fishing effort beyond desirable levels, sociologists and anthropologists who have studied the social aspects of fishing have often emphasised the capacity of these factors to restrict fishing effort. The article addresses the influence of social norms and communication on fishing effort in an empirical study of the Atlantic blue whiting fishery. The data were generated at a time when this fishery had yet to see efficient quota regulations, and had been subject to a rapid growth in fishing effort, making it the largest fishery in the Atlantic. The article argues that social norms and communication patterns in the fishing fleet create a synergic effect of co-operation and competition on fishing effort. The article questions the view that social norms and communication necessarily represent a solution to the tragedy of the commons.

The age of sex reversal of the venus tusk fish Choerodon venustus , caught by line fishing at various locations on the southern Great Barrier Reef, indicated that C. venustus is capable of modifying its life cycle in response to increased mortality. The evidence suggests Masthead Reef fish, which experience the highest mortality, underwent sex reversal at a smaller size and younger age than at the other sites. The largest female fish, sexually transitional fish and males were smaller at Masthead Reef than at the Swains Reefs or One Tree Reef at Masthead Reef. There was also considerable overlap in the size of males and females within the exploited populations indicating that sex reversal is not initiated at a particular length but may have a social cause. The sex ratio of fish was essentially the same for fish fully susceptible to line fishing in the Swains and Masthead samples. Circumstantial evidence suggested that the absence of large males in a population may initiate sex reversal, indicating the maintenance of a constant sex ratio may have a social basis.  相似文献

The selectivity of multi-mesh monofilament nylon gillnets to Oreochromis shiranus chilwae was estimated directly by gillnetting in a small reservoir containing a population marked by size class. Numbers in each size class were estimated using the adjusted Petersen estimate. Pearson Type I curves were fitted to plots of selectivity against the fish length/mesh perimeter ratio, for two modes of capture: wedging and tangling. The generality of the selectivity curves is tested and discussed. The tangling component of the selectivity was unimportant, and for many applications the selectivity curves may be approximated by normal curves obtainable through indirect methods. However, the increase in the amplitude of the curves with mesh size, deserves further study.  相似文献

Selectivity coefficients for binding of negative and positive ions to chitosans of different chemical composition have been determined by equilibrium dialysis. Chitosans with different fraction of acetylated units (FA of 0.01 and 0.49) generally behaved similarly in their selectivity towards both negative and positive ions. No selectivity was found in the binding of chloride and nitrate ions, while chitosan showed a strong selectivity towards molybdate polyoxyanions, with selectivity coefficients around 100. Chitosan showed a strong selectivity towards copper (Cu2+) compared to the metal ions zinc (Zn2+), cadmium (Cd2+) and nickel (Ni2+), with selectivity coefficients from 10 to 1000, while little or no selectivity could be detected with the other metal ions. Ionic strength and pH did not influence the selectivity coefficients of the chitosans towards the metal ions.  相似文献

Quantification of lipid selectivity by membrane proteins has been previously addressed mainly from electron spin resonance studies. We present here a new methodology for quantification of protein-lipid selectivity based on fluorescence resonance energy transfer. A mutant of M13 major coat protein was labeled with 7-diethylamino-3((4'iodoacetyl)amino)phenyl-4-methylcoumarin to be used as the donor in energy transfer studies. Phospholipids labeled with N-(7-nitro-2-1,3-benzoxadiazol-4-yl) were selected as the acceptors. The dependence of protein-lipid selectivity on both hydrophobic mismatch and headgroup family was determined. M13 major coat protein exhibited larger selectivity toward phospholipids which allow for a better hydrophobic matching. Increased selectivity was also observed for anionic phospholipids and the relative association constants agreed with the ones already presented in the literature and obtained through electron spin resonance studies. This result led us to conclude that fluorescence resonance energy transfer is a promising methodology in protein-lipid selectivity studies.  相似文献

梨小食心虫(Grapholitha molesta Busck)是一种重要的果树害虫,早春产卵喜在桃嫩梢叶上,为探明寄主颜色在其产卵选择中的作用,利用彩色卡纸模拟寄主颜色,室内比较了红、粉红、浅粉、橙黄、深黄、浅黄、青绿、深绿、浅绿、蓝、紫、褐色等12种不同颜色基质对其成虫产卵选择性的影响。结果发现:基质颜色对梨小食心虫的产卵选择性有显著影响,其产卵偏嗜浅黄和浅绿色,白色和黑色参比时其产卵选择率分别依次为68.9%、63.8%和64.1%、65.5%,蓝和浅粉色则表现一定的拒避作用,白色和黑色参比时其产卵选择率分别依次为47.7%、40.4%和47.2%、42.7%,且参比色对其产卵选择性影响差异显著。基质颜色对其产卵量亦有显著性影响,无论黑或白色参比,黄、绿颜色上的产卵量均较多,尤其是深黄、深绿和青绿色。基质颜色对1—7日龄梨小食心虫成虫的产卵选择性均有显著影响。白色参比时,2、3日龄蛾对浅绿和浅黄色的产卵选择率显著高于其他颜色;黑色参比时,2日龄时明显偏嗜浅绿色(79.7%),6日龄时明显偏嗜浅黄色(74.8%)。表明寄主颜色在梨小食心虫产卵场所选择中具有重要作用,为其卵期监测和防控中颜色应用乃至进一步揭示其产卵寄主选择机理提供了依据和参考。  相似文献

Improvement of EP4-receptor selectivity and the agonist activity by introduction of heteroatoms into the alpha chain of PGE1 was investigated. Among the compounds tested, 3,7-dithiaPGE1 4a exhibited good EP4-receptor selectivity and agonist activity. Further modification of the omega chain of 3,7-dithiaPGE1 was performed to improve EP4-receptor selectivity and agonist activity. Of the compounds produced, 16-phenyl-omega-tetranor-3,7-dithiaPGE1 4p possessing moderate EP4-receptor selectivity and agonist activity, was identified as a new chemical lead for further optimization by modification of the aromatic moiety.  相似文献
