6-O-β-D-Galactofuranosyl-D-galactose was obtained in crystalline form by condensation of 3,5,6-tri-O-acetyl-1,2-O-(1-methoxyethylidene)-α-D-galactofuranose with benzyl 2,3,4-tri-O-benzyl-α-D-galactopyranoside, followed by O-deacetylation and catalytic hydrogenation. This compound is identical with that isolated from the cell wall of Mycobacterium tuberculosis by partial acid hydrolysis.  相似文献

Target identification aims at identifying biomolecules whose function should be therapeutically altered to cure the considered pathology. An algorithm for in silico target identification using Boolean network attractors is proposed. It assumes that attractors correspond to phenotypes produced by the modeled biological network. It identifies target combinations which allow disturbed networks to avoid attractors associated with pathological phenotypes. The algorithm is tested on a Boolean model of the mammalian cell cycle and its applications are illustrated on a Boolean model of Fanconi anemia. Results show that the algorithm returns target combinations able to remove attractors associated with pathological phenotypes and then succeeds in performing the proposed in silico target identification. However, as with any in silico evidence, there is a bridge to cross between theory and practice. Nevertheless, it is expected that the algorithm is of interest for target identification.  相似文献

Data provided by living big Pectinids biology allow an interpretation of height frequency distribution for a sample of Pecten (Gigantopecten) ligerianus (D. & D., 1906) from the Miocene “faluns de la Loire.Polymodality is thought originated by interactionof spat recruitment, growth-rate and death-rate.Comparison with a sample of another pectinid from the same formation, Chlamys (Aequipecten) radians (Nyst), catches the eye on mistakes in interpreting size-frequency distributions without taking in account paleoecological and paleobiological conditions proper to both species.  相似文献

The fossil Carboniferous flora of various localitiesof the «zone primaire axiale in Pyrénées Mountains, which was mainly known only by lists of determinations, is described and figured for the first time, due to the recent discovery of a very nice fossiliferous locality. The plant association comprises Lepidophyta, Arthrophyta, Filicophyta, Pteridospermaphyta and Cordaitophyta, with the following dominant species: Neuralethopteris schelehanii (Stur), Karinopteris acuta (Brongniart), Eusphenopteris hollandica (Gothan & Jongmans), Paripteris gigantea (Sternberg), Calamites cf. cistiiformis (Stur) and Corynepteris sp.Such an association is typical for an Upper Namurian B-Lower Namurian C age in Western Europe. The biostratigraphic results are compared with the data obtained by Goniatites found also in these localities.The identity of such plant-assemblages from WesternEurope as well as South and North-East China is in favour of a continental continuity between these provinces during the Namurian.  相似文献

The production of modified amyloses often involves the p-toluenesulfonylation of the primary hydroxyl group of the d-glucopyranosyl residues, but it was not known whether this esterification is random when ~20% of the d-glucopyranosyl residues have been substituted. The reaction of p-toluenesulfonyl chloride with amylose in pyridine, in C-methylpyridines, in aqueous 2m KOH, and in dimethyl sulfoxide-pyridine yielded unsatisfactory products. However, p-toluenesulfonylation of 2,3-di-O-acetylamylose in pyridine yielded products that were converted into 2,3-di-O-acetyl-6-deoxy-6-iodoamylose, and thence into 6-deoxyamylose, a suitable substrate for the amylase to be used in the determination of random substitution. The hydrolysis products formed by the action of the crystalline, liquefying amylase of Bacillus subtilis were separated and analyzed. When a summation of the minimum number of separated, modified D-glucopyranosyl residues was compared to a computer-based calculation of the clustering expected, the results showed random esterification.  相似文献

Based on the bimolecular mass action law and the derived mass conservation laws, we propose a mathematical framework in order to describe the regulation of gene expression in prokaryotes. It is shown that the derived models have all the qualitative properties of the activation and inhibition regulatory mechanisms observed in experiments. The basic construction considers genes as templates for protein production, where regulation processes result from activators or repressors connecting to DNA binding sites. All the parameters in the models have a straightforward biological meaning. After describing the general properties of the basic mechanisms of positive and negative gene regulation, we apply this framework to the self-regulation of the trp operon and to the genetic switch involved in the regulation of the lac operon. One of the consequences of this approach is the existence of conserved quantities depending on the initial conditions that tune bifurcations of fixed points. This leads naturally to a simple explanation of threshold effects as observed in some experiments.  相似文献

We deal in this paper with the concept of genetic regulation network. The genes expression observed through the bio-array imaging allows the geneticist to obtain the intergenic interaction matrix W of the network. The interaction graph G associated to W presents in general interesting features like connected components, gardens of Eden, positive and negative circuits (or loops), and minimal components having 1 positive and 1 negative loop called regulons. Depending on parameters values like the connectivity coefficient K(W) and the mean inhibition weight I(W), the genetic regulation network can present several dynamical behaviours (fixed configuration, limit cycle of configurations) called attractors, when the observation time increases. We give some examples of such genetic regulation networks and analyse their dynamical properties and their biological consequences.  相似文献

The Paleocene of Western Senegal has shown amainly benthonic microfauna; the more characteristic elements of which are the Ostracoda: Cytherella (Cytherelloidea) aff. keijiMac Kenzie, Buntonia aff. attitogonensisApostolescu, Soudanella laciniosaApost., Quadracythere? lagaghiroboensisApost., Evisceratocythere cf. glabellaApost., Some of these species, which have been discovered in Senegal for the first time, have a large stratigraphic distribution. Effectively, they have been already found in Togo, Niger, Nigeria, even Lybia. Particularly, Soudanella laciniosa seems to be a very good Paleocene fossil at least in Africa, from the Mediterranean sea to the Gulf of Guinea. The benthonic Foraminifera are less abundant and badly preserved. In the same way as Ostracoda, they show species already known in the African Paleocene. The assemblage of the microfauna, in accordance with the sedimentological data, reveals the existence of a warm sea, in connection with the open sea, but very shallow, perhaps with periodical emersions (intertidal zone?).  相似文献

Study of new and important collections of bryozoa in Neocomian of the French and Swiss Jura improve the knowledge of these Bryozoa, especially the “mesenteripores” (Tubuloporina with bilamellar structure) of which almost all the species types proceed from the Jura. These species are here redefined, for example M. campicheana which was poorly known until now. One new species, Mesonopora uniordinata, is described. To this superior delimitation of species, is added extensed geographical distribution and also more precise stratigraphical position. The fauna of mesenteripores varies according to lithostratigraphy, that is to say, with variations of paleoenvironment. Among these, modification of substratum, sedimentary deposition, depth, are the easiest to envisage.  相似文献

18F-FDG PET is recommended for the initial staging of locally advanced breast cancer. Studies have shown the prognostic value of 18F-FDG PET for staging, but its ability to predict pathological complete response remains uncertain. Our objective was to determine the predictive value of early therapeutic evaluation by 18F-FDG PET for HER2-positive breast cancer patients. We studied a subpopulation of the prospective and multicentric French NeoTOP trial, at interim analysis. All patients were eligible for neoadjuvant chemotherapy. A 18F-FDG PET was performed at baseline and then after one cycle of neoadjuvant treatment. 18F-FDG PET were studied by three conventional methods (two visuals and one quantitative) and by textural analysis. Complete pathological response on surgical samples corresponded to grades 1/2 of Chevallier's classification and no responders corresponded to grades 3/4 of Chevallier. Pathological results were available for 21 patients. SUVmax decreased by 55% after one cycle of chemotherapy. No difference between groups was found with visuals, conventional quantitative and textural analysis of tumour uptake evaluations. Early therapeutic evaluation by 18F-FDG PET for HER2-positive breast cancer was not predictive of pathological therapeutic response after neoadjuvant treatment, with conventional study or textural analyses in this interim analysis.  相似文献

Most of the Tethyan species usually attributed to the genera Platypleuroceras, Uptonia and Dayiceras (Polymorphitidae) are in reality forms phylogenetically related to Metaderoceras, but which show convergence in their morphology. Their originality justifies the creation of a new genus, Dubariceras and two new species, D. dubari and D. freboldi.The palaeobiogeographic implications of this phylogenetic interpretation confirm the profound differences between Tethyan and Boreal faunas in the Carixian. The platycone Polymorphitidae (Platypleuroceras, Uptonia and Dayiceras) are almost completely restricted to the Boreal Realm, whereas the faunas of the Tethyan Realm largely comprise the Acanthopleuroceratidae (Tropidoceras), Metaderoceras and its allied genus Dubariceras.  相似文献

33 species of Upper Cretaceous silicified bryozoansfound by A. Arnaud-Vanneau and H. Arnaud (Grenoble) within a crevice filled with residual clay, have been studied. Most of the species are known from the Senonian (Coniacian — Santonian) of the Anglo-Paris Basin. The faunal relations with the Upper Cretaceous Bryozoa of the Provence, of the Aquitain Basin or the Alpine regions (Austrian Alps) are less significant. The green birdmouth wrasse Gomphosus caeruleus is present all year round on the coral reefs of Reunion Island (Indian Ocean). A group of individuals was followed on one of these reefs with the objective of studying the reproduction mode of the species, the influence of environmental factors, and social behaviors on the control of reproduction. Our observations revealed that G. caeruleus is, like many Labridae, a protogynous hermaphrodite species, probably diandric, that the reproduction of G. caeruleus is, like in other reef fish species, influenced by the lunar cycle with a peak of reproductive activity during waxing gibbous phase, and that G. caeruleus displays social behavior leading to alternating haremic mating system on a single territory and lek-like mating systems without aggressions between males. These observations enhanced our knowledge of the reproduction of Labridae and reef species.  相似文献

The development of Sabellaria alveolata, a gregarious reef-building polychaete species, is maximal in Mont-Saint-Michel Bay (France), where trophic capacity is now threatened by increasing shellfish farming. As no data are available concerning the ecophysiological response of this species, the purpose of the present study was to obtain clearance rate and retention efficiency values to provide a first order of magnitude for the trophic role of this species. Data were obtained using a flow-through system with novel troughs suitable for 225 cm2 reef blocks containing a mean number of 940 +/- 102 (S.E.) individuals. The experimental diet used consisted of a mixture of two live microalgae, Skeletonema costatum (3800 cell ml-1) and Isochrysis galbana (23,700 cell ml-1), chosen to cover a broad size range (2 to 16 microns equivalent spherical diameter, ESD), as determined by a particle counter. On the basis of a mean clearance rate of 0.7 lh-1 obtained with reef blocks, the mean rate for an individual was estimated at 7.5 x 10(-4) L h-1. Particles larger than 6 microns ESD were cleared with 100% efficiency, but S. alveolata was unable to retain particles smaller than 2 microns ESD. The results are compared with data obtained for other polychaete species, and clearance rate values are extrapolated to an entire reef.  相似文献

The set of (feedback) circuits of a complex system is the machinery that allows the system to be aware of the levels of its crucial constituents. Circuits can be identified without ambiguity from the elements of the Jacobian matrix of the system. There are two types of circuits: positive if they comprise an even number of negative interactions, negative if this number is odd. The two types of circuits play deeply different roles: negative circuits are required for homeostasis, with or without oscillations, positive circuits are required for multistationarity, and hence, in biology, for differentiation and memory. In non-linear systems, a circuit can positive or negative (an 'ambiguous circuit', depending on the location in phase space. Full circuits are those circuits (or unions of disjoint circuits) that imply all the variables of the system. There is a tight relation between circuits and steady states. Each full circuit, if isolated, generates steady state(s) whose nature (eigenvalues) is determined by the structure of the circuit. Multistationarity requires the presence of at least two full circuits of opposite Eisenfeld signs, or else, an ambiguous circuit. We show how a significant part of the dynamical behaviour of a system can be predicted by a mere examination of its Jacobian matrix. We also show how extremely complex dynamics can be generated by such simple logical structures as a single (full and ambiguous) circuit.  相似文献

The question of the age of «Hauts de Meuse coral rag is studied again using new faunas of brachiopods and ammonites collected above, below and inside the coral rag. Ammonites fauna of the well known «Calcaires de Creuë is revised. Results obtained agree closely.The «Hauts de Meuse coral rag grew up during Middle Oxfordian time; and extend part of the Plicatilis zone (Antecedens Subzone) and the whole Transversarium Zone up to the basis of the Bifurcatus Zone, for the first time identified in Lorraine. So it span a short depositional time, about 1 MY, with a high deposition rate, the thickness of the coral rag being more than 100 meters, reaching 150 meters in Saint-Mihiel area. Towards SE, on the other side of the Marne Gap, the sudden change into basinal facies go with a reducing of thickness and deposition rate.Upper Oxfordian deposits show a relative uniformity of facies and thickness. At the top of Middle Oxfordian limestones, the age of the discontinuity and the Sequanian renewal of deposition is basal Bifurcatus Zone. Erosional renewal and terrigeneous deposits are a wide spread event by the beginning of Upper Oxfordian.In the paleontological part, species upon which are based new ages and interpretations are only figured, except the species new or with new paleontological data, which are described. Well-preserved Cretaceous (Albian–Turonian) radiolarians were extracted from radiolarian-bearing chert olistoliths of the Monagroulli Member within the Moni Mélange (Campanian-Maastrichtian, Southern Cyprus). Four assemblages were distinguished: Middle Albian–Lower Cenomanian (Thanarla spoletoensis Zone), Upper Albian–Lower Cenomanian (Thanarla spoletoensis Zone, Dorypyle? anisa Subzone), lowermost Turonian (base of Alievium superbum Zone) and Lower Turonian (Alievium superbum Zone). The radiolarian assemblages are diverse and have taxonomic composition similar to coeval assemblages of Italy and Spain. The sediments of the Monagroulli Member differ from coeval rocks of the Mamonia Complex (western Cyprus) by the more common presence of radiolarian cherts and may have been formed in the distal part of a continental margin with less input of clastic material. A new spicular radiolarian genus Cyprothamnus with 2 new species (C. multifurcatus and C. moniensis) is described from the Lower Turonian strata.  相似文献
