Length-weight relationships (LWR) and length-length relationships (LLR) were provided for eight species inhabiting Northeastern Brazilian coast. Nine transects (5, 15, 30 m deep) between Sergipe and Vaza-Barris rivers mouths were sampled monthly from September 2013 to August 2014. Each sampling was carried out using a shrimp boat equipped with double ring nets (4 m mouth wide, 10 m long and 20 mm mesh size) and trawlings were performed for 15 min. Fishes were measured (standard and total length, 0.1 cm) and weighted (total weight, 0.01 g). We provide LWR and LLR coefficients for these eight species, including new maximum TL for five species, and discuss the similarity of these results with estimates available in Fishbase.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWRs) are presented for 11 deep‐sea fishes caught in the western Bay of Bengal and Andaman waters during August 2010 using a 38 m high speed demersal trawl II (HSDT II, crustacean version, codend mesh size 40 mm) and a 45.6 m Expo model demersal trawl (codend mesh size 30 mm). The b values ranged from 2.34 to 3.3 and the coefficient of variation (r2) ranged from .82 to .98. LWR estimates of eight deep‐sea fishes are provided for the first time. The estimated LWR values were compared with the Bayesian LWR estimates available in FishBase, based on models developed to improve the accuracy and predictability of species‐specific growth parameters of data‐poor species.  相似文献

The present study provides the length–weight and length–length relationships information (LWR & LLR) for three Blenny species; Antennablennius adenensis from the coast of Larak Island in the Persian Gulf and Istiblennius pox and Omobranchus mekranensis, which were captured in the coasts of Chabahar city in the Gulf of Oman, Iran. Total length (TL) and standard length (SL) were determined as well as weight. Specimens were collected occasionally in summer 2017 and winter 2018 by Hand net. The length–weight parameter b for these species was 2.84, 3.29 and 3.06 respectively with a high coefficient of determination (r2 ≥ 0.95). All LLRs were highly correlated (r2 > 0.99). All three species had no previous report for LWR and LLR estimates in FishBase.  相似文献

Amur sturgeon Acipenser schrenckiii Brandt 1869 and kaluga Huso dauricus (Georgi 1775) are critically endangered species with populations showing significant decline from historical levels due to overexploitation, yet little is known about their population structure. Adults are not often captured in the Fuyuan reach of the Amur River, Heilongjiang Province, Northeast China, and the government prioritizes juvenile sturgeon management. This study was conducted to determine the age and length/weight relationships of juvenile Amur sturgeon and kaluga in the Fuyuan reach of the Amur River. We estimated age using pectoral fin spine sections obtained from 65 juvenile Amur sturgeon and 50 juvenile kaluga. We compared the age estimates from two readers, and found 100% between‐reader agreement in 67.7% of the Amur sturgeon and 64.0% of the kaluga. The majority of differences in estimated age were within 1 year. Length/weight relationships (LWR) were calculated, and the LWR of the Amur sturgeon and kaluga were W = 0.0025L3.106 (r2 = 0.966)and W = 0.0022L3.175 (r2 = 0.989), respectively. Our study provides the age structure and LWR in juveniles of two sturgeon species.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWR) were estimated for six fish species from the Cujubim lake on the Madeira River. The specimens were sampled between in the months of March and November, 2019 and February, 2020 using gillnets (10 × 5 m, mesh size 40, 60, 80 and 100 mm) which were checked every 6 hr during a 24-hr period and casting nets (1.25 × 2.7 m, mesh size 40 mm) performed three times in this interval. This study reports new maximum lengths for four species and a new tentative LWR for one species.  相似文献

The present study provides the estimates of length‐weight relationships (LWRs) and length‐length relationships (LLRs) of two gobiid fishes Eleotris fusca and Odontamblyopus rubicundus from the Payra River, southern Bangladesh. Fish samples were collected from the set bagnet (mesh size <2 mm) fishers of the Payra River in July 2016. Allometric coefficient (b) values were 2.95 for E. fusca and 2.76 for O. rubicundus. Additionally, the LLRs were highly significant with r2 ≥ .955. While the estimate of the LWR for O. rubicundus includes a substantial larger sample size and thus provides a more reliable LWR than the one published so far, the LWR for E. fusca must be considered as tentative because the sample includes only juveniles for a fish that reaches a maximum standard length more than three times as much. Additional studies are needed to further improve our LWR knowledge base for these fish species.  相似文献

This study reports the length–weight relationship (LWR) and length‐length relationship (LLR) estimated for four fish species inhabiting in Chilika Lake, India. Total 504 specimens were sampled from mono‐filament gill nets (mesh size 12 mm, 22–24 mm, 34–38 mm, 42 mm) during January 2015 to December 2015. The estimated b values from LWR ranged between 2.79 (T. biaculeatus) to 3.29 (C. praeustus). In all species, the relationships between length‐weight and length‐length were highly correlated (p < .05). The study provides first world reports on LWRs and LLRs for all the 4 studied species.  相似文献

This paper presents length–weight relationships (LWR) for 11 freshwater fish species from the Sapucaí‐Mirim River, a tributary of the Grande River basin, São Paulo, Brazil. The specimens were captured in quarterly samplings between March 2011 and December 2014, using gillnets of mesh size: 1.5–9.0 cm between knots. The length–weight relationships (LWRs) were estimated of seven fish species from 22 localities in the Pantanal wetland between Mach 2006 and April 2011. Fish were sampled using seven gill nets (20 × 1.5 m; mesh size: 12, 15, 18, 20, 25, 30 and 50 mm between opposing knots) and throw traps (made of 1 m3 metal cubes, covered by a 1.5 mm nylon mesh). Standard length and weight were measured and used to calculate the LWR parameters. Values for parameter b varied from 2.87 (Apistogramma borellii) to 3.29 (Hoplerythrinus unitaeniatus) and, such values are within the expected range.  相似文献

Length‐weight (LWR) and length‐length (LLR) relationships were estimated for 20 species and lengths at first maturity (L50) for six species of freshwater fishes caught in the Salto Santiago Reservoir, Iguaçu River Basin, Brazil. In nine species significant differences were found in the LWR between sexes. Average b‐value for species with no differences between sexes in LWR was 3.12 (SE = ±0.05). Average b‐value in LLR was 0.823. First references on LWRs and L50 are presented for 13 and four fish species, respectively, as well as the new maximum total lengths for eight species.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWR), W = aLb, were estimated for nine fish species belonging to three orders, four families and nine genera from the Hunan Zhangjiajie Chinese Giant Salamander National Natural Reserve, in the northwestern part of Hunan Province of central China. Six of the species are endemic to China, of which three are also endemic to the Yangtze River. The r2 value ranged from 0.9546 to 0.9924. Values of b varied from 2.9177 to 3.6752. This study represents the first reference on LWR for nine species, and are new maximum length records for six species.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWR) were estimated for 17 species and total length at first maturity (L50) for three species of freshwater fishes from the Miranda River, southern Pantanal, Brazil. The b values were compared for some species in the Paraguay River basin with the northern (Cuiabá River) part of the basin; differences in length–weight relationships were significantly different for Pseudoplatystoma corruscans, P. reticulatum (syn. The present study provides the length–weight relationships (LWR) for eight fish species in 19 streams from the Pedreira River basin, a small tributary of the Guyana coastal drainages from Amapá State, Brazil. Fishes were collected at two occasions, one in November 2016, the other in July 2018, using hand nets, with 0.5 mm of mesh size and 0.25 m2 of mouth area, and trawl nets, with 0.5 mm of mesh size and 3 m long. Standard length and total weight were measured to determine the LWRs. The results show that the coefficient b varied between 2.798 and 3.380 and thus the values were within the expected range.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWR) were estimated for seven fish species inhabiting the intertidal mudflats in the Marajó Bay, northern Brazil. A total of 514 specimens were collected quarterly between November 1994 and December 1995 using a beach seine (5 mm mesh size between opposite knots). Slope b of the LWR varied between 2.93 and 3.11, with a mean of 3.02. Samples of each species were collected between April and July 2017 with a hand net (1.5 mm mesh) in three sites from the upper Paraná River basin, Southeastern Brazil. Length–weight (LWR) and length–length (LLR) relationships were estimated for four shad species of the genus Alosa, reported from along the southern Caspian Sea coast, north of Iran in a study from March 2014. Two of these species are endemic to the Caspian Sea. The length–weight parameter b for these species ranged from 2.99 to 3.24, with regression coefficients (r2) ranging from 0.91 to 0.99. The present study established the length‐weight relationships (LWR) for seven fish species from Jequitinhonha River basin, a Brazilian coastal drainage, collected with gillnets (3 to 16 cm) between 2011 and 2016. For the LWR, standard length and total weight were used. The allometric coefficient b varied from 2.66 to 3.26. These results provide biological data for a region of extreme biogeographical importance that is suffering serious environmental disturbances.  相似文献

The length-weight relationships (LWR) were estimated for five fish species from the Golfão Maranhense, Brazilian Amazon littoral region. Samplings were performed in August 2016, during the dry season, using trawl net with 6.0 m length by 3.0 m width (trawl mouth opening of 6.0 m2) and 1.0 cm mesh size between opposite knots. This study registers LWR for Anchoviella elongata and Gobioides broussonnetii and the estimated LWR for Aspredo aspredo and Aspredinichthys filamentosus covers a wider size range. Length–weight relationships (LWR) and length–length relationships (LLR) were estimated for four species, namely, Puntius sophore (Hamilton, 1822), Puntius chola (Hamilton, 1822), Pethia ornatus (Vishwanath & Laisram, 2004) and Pethia ticto (Hamilton, 1822) collected from different wetlands of Lakhimpur, Assam. The values of the parameter slope (b) in the LWR were 3.30 for Puntius sophore, 3.22 for Puntius chola, 2.61 for Pethia ornatus and 3.27 for Pethia ticto. The relationships among TL, FL and SL were all linear (r2 > 0.95).  相似文献
