Current study reports the length‐weight relationships (LWRs) of three marine fish species collected from the fishermen catches covering three seasons i.e., rainy, autumn and winter between June, 2016 and February, 2017. Fishermen caught the species using beach seine net (3.5 cm mesh size) and set bag net (0.5 cm mesh size) up to 200 m far away from the shoreline. The LWRs for fish species were W = 0.0180TL3.192 for A. longispinnis, W = 0.0109TL2.971 for R. russeliana and W = 0.0098TL2.942 for C. neglecta with their r2 values of 0.971, 0.962 and 0.997, respectively.  相似文献

This study reports the length‐weight relationships (LWRs) of Acrossocheilus beijiangensis Wu & Lin, 1977 and Barbodes semifasciolatus (Günther, 1868) from the upper reaches of Beijiang River, Guangdong Province, China. Sample sizes for the two fish species were 335 for A. beijiangensis and 106 for B. semifasciolatus. Fishes were collected on a monthly basis between November 2013 and December 2014 using gill nets (30 m long × 1.2 m high, mesh‐size 1.5 cm) and fish cages (mesh‐size 0.5 cm). LWRs were established as W = 0.0052L3.3249 (r2 = .9696) for A. beijiangensis and W = 0.0088L3.2405 (r2 = .9469) for B. semifasciolatus. No previous information is available on LWRs for these two species in FishBase.  相似文献

The biological characteristics of eels from the Asi River, Turkey, were assessed between December 2017 and November 2018. Eels were sampled monthly using fyke nets (operated by professional fishermen), yielding a total of 509 specimens. Total length and weight were measured, sex, age and maturity stages (silver or yellow eel) were determined. Catch Per Unit Effort (CPUE) was calculated for both biomass per unit effort and numbers caught on a monthly and annual basis. The length-weight relationships (LWRs) of silver and yellow eel was W = 0.009*TL3.22 (n = 262) and W = 0.0106*L3.09 (n = 247), respectively. The age of the sampled fish ranged from year class II to VI. Von Bertalanffy growth parameters were estimated as L=69.25 cm, K = 0.43 1/year, t0= −0.41 and phi prime index ( ǿ )= 3.31 for all samples. The overall eel fishing mortality rate (F) was 0.31 year-1, and the exploitation and survival rates of silver stage eels were estimated with 30% and 39%, respectively.  相似文献

Length‐weight relationships (LWRs) were determined for Dermogenys pusilla (n = 75) and Labeo bata (n = 304) from the Ganges River, northwestern Bangladesh, collected between July 2013 and June 2014, using traditional fishing gear (e.g. cast net, square lift net and gill net). Total length (TL) was measured to 0.1 cm and whole body weight (BW) was taken to the nearest 0.1 g for each individual. The TL varied from 6.60 to 16.10 cm for D. pusilla and 7.90–25.20 cm for L. bata. The BW ranged from 1.20 to 10.90 g for D. pusilla and 4.70–167.30 g for L. bata. All LWRs were highly significant (P < 0.001), with all r2 values ≥0.976. Moreover, the present study provides a new record of the maximum length (16.10 cm TL) for the D. pusilla female. The present study can assist in the management of these two endangered species in the Ganges River ecosystem.  相似文献

The study included 546 specimens of seven myctophid fish species from the South China Sea (captured during June 2015 by bottom and mid‐water trawls). Length‐weight relationships (LWRs), aLb, were estimated using standard length. The species belong to four genera. The values for the parameter a ranged from 0.006 to 0.022, while the b values ranged from 2.710 to 3.476 (Range of r2 values: .938 to .971). According to FishBase, this study presents the first LWRs for these species, including two maximum standard lengths for Diaphus chrysorhynchus and Notoscopelus resplendens.  相似文献

This study provides the first report of length–weight relationships (LWRs) for six endemic fish species collected from the Zengqu River and the Ouqu River, two of the tributaries to the upper reaches of the Jinsha River, southwest China. Samples were obtained in May 2013 and September 2013 using various types of fishing gear. A total of 413 specimens belonging to six fish species were analyzed; their LWRs were = 0.0069L3.086 (r2 = 0.987) for Schizothorax wangchiachii (Fang, 1936), = 0.0076L3.029 (r2 = 0.980) for Schizothorax dolichonema (Herzenstein, 1889), = 0.0029L3.315 (r2 = 0.961) for Schizopygopsis malacanthus (Herzenstein, 1891), = 0.0082L 2.970 (r2 = 0.950) for Ptychobarbus kaznakovi (Nikolsky, 1903), = 0.0017L3.464 (r2 = 0.957) for Triplophysa stolioczkae (Steindachner, 1866), and W = 0.0037L 3.190 (r2 = 0.956) for Triplophysa orientalis (Herzenstein, 1888). Prior to this study, the LWRs for S. dolichonema, P. kaznakovi and T. orientalis were unknown. In addition, new maximum sizes for four of the species are provided.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships for European silver eel (Anguilla anguilla) sub‐populations in six countries (13 catchments) along the latitudinal gradient in the area of distribution in this study use three important sampling programs; these results concur with previous studies on European eel with the equation: W = 0.0010 L3.148 for the entire data set (sexes combined). Significant differences were observed among the 13 catchments, possibly implying differences in body condition. Male and female LWRs varied significantly between and among catchments, suggesting that the capacity of silver eels to migrate and reproduce successfully varies according to the sites.  相似文献

The reproductive biology of cobia, Rachycentron canadum, from the coastal waters of Dungun, Malaysia was studied from June 2014 to May 2015. From commercial trawls, a total of 201 samples (combined sexes) were collected (fork lengths [FL] 37.5–124.0 cm; body weights 0.5–20.4 g). The overall sex ratio of females to males was 1:0.9, which was not significantly different (χ2 = 2.12, df = 1; p < .05). Estimations of length at 50% maturity (L50) showed that both sexes matured at approximately 75 cm FL; estimated spawning frequency was 6 days. Mean batch fecundity (BF) ranged from 0.55 to 4.32 million eggs. The average number of eggs per gram of ovary was from 2,100 to 5,400 eggs, and relative fecundity 147 eggs/g. There was a weak positive correlation (r2 = .48) between BF and female FL as well as BF with an ovary‐free body weight (r2 = .56), possibly due to females being in a continuous spawning condition and some possibly half‐spent, based on the histological examination of the female gonads. Despite cobia being asynchronous spawners, the gonadosomatic index in both males and females showed peaks in June, November, and particularly March. Based on histological examination, spawning‐capable males were encountered throughout the study period, whereas spawning‐capable females in the late developing subphase were found mostly in March and April. This is the first study on the reproductive aspects of cobia in Malaysian waters.  相似文献

This paper reports length–weight relationships and summarizes data for Lutjanus argentiventris from Río Caté, a tropical estuary on the Gulf of Montijo, Pacific coast of Panama. The length–weight relationship obtained was W = 0.012Lt3.07. The L. argentiventris mature throughout the year, although in fewer numbers from September to November. The sex ratio was 1 male to 0.9 female. Occurrence in stomachs showed that they feed mainly on crustaceans (75.4%), fishes (18.5%), polychaetes (4.6%), and molluscs (1.5%). Portunid crabs (Portunus asper) were the most frequent prey group.  相似文献

This study examines the length‐weight (L‐W) and length‐length (L‐L) relationships, gonadosomatic indices, and size at sexual maturity for individuals of the endemic Mexican mojarra, Eugerres mexicanus (Steindachner, 1863) from the Usumacinta River Basin, Tabasco, Mexico. From April 2008 to January 2010, 360 specimens were examined, including 151 (41.9%) male, 179 (49.7%) female and 30 unsexed (8.3%) individuals. Overall female:male ratio was 1.2 : 1. Gonadosomatic index (GSI) values indicate increased reproductive activity during February, with significant differences between males (GSI = 2.07) and females (GSI = 5.48). The mean size at first maturity (L50) was 17.3 cm TL for males and 20.5 cm TL for females.  相似文献

Schizopygopsis younghusbandi younghusbandi is an endemic species whose distribution is restricted to the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River, being one of the most important commercial fishes in this area. Age and growth of 606 specimens captured between October 2002 and April 2005 were studied. The range in standard length (L) was 65.7–387.3 mm and total weight (W) was 3.3–772.0 g. The relationship between L and W was W = 0.000909L2.2493 for males and W = 0.000259L2.4781 for females. Age, determined from anal scales and lapillus otoliths, ranged from 3 to 18 years. The parameters of von Bertalanffy growth functions, estimated by back-calculated length, were L = 442.7mm  LL_\infty = 442.7mm\;L, k = 0.0738 year−1 and t 0  = −1.4 year for males, and L = 471.4mm  LL_\infty = 471.4mm\;L, k = 0.0789 year−1 and t 0 = 0.2 year for females. Males and females exhibited statistically significant differences in growth. χ 2-test indicated that von Bertalanffy growth functions could well describe the growth of S. y. younghusbandi. The longevities were 39.2 and 38.2 years for males and females, respectively. Growth inflexion points were 10.2 and 12.0 years for males and females, respectively, but 84.8% of the captures were at the smaller ages. So conservation and management schemes for this population should be considered urgently. In addition, we found that populations from the upstream of the Lhasa River, the downstream of the Lhasa River and the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River showed statistically significant differences in growth patterns.  相似文献

The study tests the physiological responses of Persian sturgeon, Acipenser persicus, during the abrupt release of juveniles from freshwater (FW) into brackish waters (BW = 11‰) of the Caspian Sea. Fish weight at release was 2‐3 g (2.55 ± 0.41 g; 8.8 ± 0.58 cm TL). Totals of 160 individuals were randomly distributed into four fiber‐glass aerated tanks (volume 60‐L). Two tanks served as controls (FW groups), and two as exposure tanks for BW (Caspian Sea water = CSW). Fish were sampled at 0, 3, 6, 12, 24, 48 and 96 hr after abrupt transfer to CSW. Plasma osmolality, immunolocalization of Na+, K+ ‐ATPase (NKA) and Na+/K+/2Cl (NKCC) Co‐transporter, NKA activity and the NKA α‐subunit mRNA expression were analyzed. Blood osmolality of fish transferred from FW to CSW increased significantly within hours post‐transfer (p < .05) and remained at a high level for up to 96 hr. Immunolocalization of NKCC indicated co‐localization with NKA in the chloride cells in the gill epithelium. A partial sequence of the NKA α‐subunit (632 bp) is described. Its expression levels were up‐regulated at 12 and 48 hr following salinity transfer (p < .05). However, NKA activity sharply increased in CSW specimens by almost 2.8‐fold (p < .05) between 48 and 96 hr after transfer. Gill NKCC co‐transporter abundance increased, coinciding with increased gill NKA activity. The increased activity of NKCC during salt excretion in CSW may lead to an influx of Na+ into the chloride cells. Consequently, NKA activity increases to maintain intracellular Na+ homeostasis.  相似文献

This study provides basic information on length–weight relationships for Knipowitschia byblisia Ahnelt, 2011 and Knipowitschia caunosi Ahnelt, 2011, two endemic species of Köycegiz Lake Basin (Southern‐West of Turkey). Samplings were carried out seasonally from 2014 to 2015 by means of beach seine nets with mesh sizes from 10 to 35 mm. A total of 343 individuals from the two fish species were examined, with more specimens belonging to K. byblisa (90.4%). The total length–weight relationships were calculated as: W = 0.0054 TL3.384for K. byblisia and W = 0.0058 TL3.417for K. caunosi, respectively.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to determine the basic population‐specific parameters necessary for fish stock assessment in the area and to compare these with data from other Mediterranean regions. White seabream Diplodus sargus sargus (n = 449) were caught along the Algerian coast between December 2005 and December 2006. Total length ranged from 12.2 to 34.6 cm, representing age classes between 0 and 10 years. Validity of the otolith readings for estimating age and growth was supported using the back‐calculation method. The von Bertalanffy growth parameters for all fish were calculated as: TL = 36.3 cm, k = 0.154 year−1, t0 = −0.488 year. The growth performance index (φ) showed a relatively slow growth of the local population. The length‐weight relationship showed an isometric growth (b = 2.98; r = 0.98). Subspecies Diplodus sargus sargus was characterized as being a proterandric hermaphrodite. Overall ratio of males to females was 1 : 1.4, with males predominant in the smaller size intervals and females in the larger ones. The reproductive season extended from January to May, with a March–April peak in spawning activity. Fifty per cent maturity of the tested cohort was reached at a total length of 20.2 cm for males and 20.0 cm for females.  相似文献

A simple, rapid chemiluminescence (CL) method was described for the determination of piroxicam, a commonly used analgesic agent drug. A strong CL signal was detected when cerium(IV) sulphate was injected into tris‐(4,7‐diphenyl‐1,10‐phenanthrolinedisulphonic acid) ruthenium(II) (RuBPS)–piroxicam solution. The CL signal was proportional to the concentration of piroxicam in the range 2.8 × 10–8–1.2 × 10–5 mol/L. The detection limit was 2 × 10–8 mol/L and the relative standard deviation (RSD) was 3.7% (c = 7.0 × 10–7 mol/L piroxicam; n = 11). The proposed method was applied to the determination of piroxicam in pharmaceutical preparations in capsules, spiked serum and urine samples with satisfactory results.
