Background

Emotional states linked to arousal and mood are known to affect the efficiency of cognitive performance. However, the extent to which memory processes may be affected by arousal, mood or their interaction is poorly understood.

Methodology/Principal Findings

Following a study phase of abstract shapes, we altered the emotional state of participants by means of exposure to music that varied in both mood and arousal dimensions, leading to four different emotional states: (i) positive mood-high arousal; (ii) positive mood-low arousal; (iii) negative mood-high arousal; (iv) negative mood-low arousal. Following the emotional induction, participants performed a memory recognition test. Critically, there was an interaction between mood and arousal on recognition performance. Memory was enhanced in the positive mood-high arousal and in the negative mood-low arousal states, relative to the other emotional conditions.

Conclusions/Significance

Neither mood nor arousal alone but their interaction appears most critical to understanding the emotional enhancement of memory.  相似文献

The ability to regulate mood is a facet of emotional intelligence that may contribute to an individual’s physical and mental health. Precisely what is regulated when mood regulation occurs is dependent on what “makes up” mood. The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether perceived mood regulation ability can predict regulation of affect during task engagement and whether affect regulation is specific to valence or arousal. Measures of positive affect, negative affect, and frontal area sEMG (as a measure of arousal) were obtained from a sample of one hundred twenty-four participants categorized by their self report as possessing low or high mood regulation ability. Modulation of positive affect, but not negative affect, was predicted by perceived mood regulation ability. The results of sEMG were mixed. These data provide some support for the hypothesis that mood regulation ability can predict future efforts to regulate affect, at least in the context of task engagement.  相似文献

Research indicates that attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) may be a risk factor for heavy alcohol use and related problems. Research also suggests that positive alcohol expectancies (i.e., positive beliefs about the effects of alcohol) are predictive of risky alcohol use and related problems (e.g., driving while intoxicated). However, no research has examined the association between ADHD symptoms and positive expectancies or the role of ADHD symptoms in the relation between positive expectancies and alcohol use and related problems, an unexplored area addressed by the current study. Participants were 889 undergraduates (76 % female, 82.3 % Caucasian) at a Southeastern University who completed self-report measures. Parent report (59 %) of current and childhood ADHD symptoms was also collected. Findings indicated that ADHD symptoms moderated the relation between positive alcohol expectancies and alcohol-related problems, but not the relation between expectancies and alcohol use. Additional analyses revealed that ADHD symptoms moderated the specific relation between positive expectancies and social alcohol problems (e.g., engaging in unplanned sexual behavior), but not between expectancies and internal alcohol problems (e.g., feeling sad). Moderating effects were significant even after controlling for conduct disorder symptoms and stimulant medication use. Findings have implications for the identification of college students who are at particularly high risk for heavy drinking and alcohol-related problems. Results may also aid in the development of interventions aimed at reducing risky drinking among students.  相似文献

An increasing percentage of college students report being affected by ADHD behaviors, and this population is at increased risk of experiencing negative consequences associated with alcohol consumption. However, specific factors motivating alcohol consumption and contributing to negative outcomes among these individuals are not well understood. Recent work suggests alcohol expectancies may interact with ADHD behaviors to influence negative drinking-related outcomes among those with elevated inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity. Seven-hundred-forty emerging adults (M age = 19.13 [SD = 2.25] years; 72.1% female; 85.8% Caucasian) enrolled in two public universities in the Southeast and Midwest USA completed the Brief Comprehensive Effects of Alcohol Survey (B-CEOA) and provided self-reports of ADHD symptoms and drinking-related outcomes. Multiple mediation analyses were conducted to evaluate effects of ADHD behaviors (i.e., hyperactivity-impulsivity, and inattention) and related impairment in major life domains (e.g., social interactions, occupational and educational activities, fulfillment of daily responsibilities) on drinking-related outcomes via positive and negative alcohol expectancies, controlling for sex, age, co-occurring oppositional behaviors, and data collection site. Inattention, hyperactivity-impulsivity, and impairment directly predicted both personal and social problems consequent to alcohol use. Effects of ADHD behaviors and impairment on drinking-related personal and social problems were partially mediated by positive expectancies. Findings are consistent with and extend prior work supporting a role of positive alcohol expectancies in alcohol-related negative outcomes among college students experiencing mild to moderate symptoms of ADHD.  相似文献

A positive family history of alcohol use disorders (FH) is a robust predictor of personal alcohol abuse and dependence. Exposure to problem-drinking models is one mechanism through which family history influences alcohol-related cognitions and drinking patterns. Similarly, exposure to alcohol advertisements is associated with alcohol involvement and the relationship between affective response to alcohol cues and drinking behavior has not been well established. In addition, the collective contribution that FH, exposure to different types of problem-drinking models (e.g. parents, peers) and personal alcohol use have on appraisal of alcohol-related stimuli has not been evaluated with a large sample. We investigated the independent effects of FH, exposure to problem-drinking models and personal alcohol use on valence ratings of alcohol pictures in a college sample. College students (n = 227) completed measures of personal drinking and substance use, exposure to problem-drinking models, FH and ratings on affective valence of 60 alcohol pictures. Greater exposure to non-familial problem-drinkers predicted greater drinking among college students (beta = 0.17, P < 0.01). However, personal drinking was the only predictor of valence ratings of alcohol pictures (beta = -0.53, P < 0.001). Personal drinking level predicted valence ratings of alcohol cues over and above FH, exposure to problem-drinking models and demographic characteristics. This suggests that positive affective responses to alcohol pictures are more a function of personal experience (i.e. repeated heavy alcohol use) than vicarious learning.  相似文献

This study examined how changes in wildland firefighters’ mood relate to cytokine and cortisol levels in response to simulated physical firefighting work and sleep restriction. Firefighters completed 3 days of simulated wildfire suppression work separated by an 8-h (control condition; n = 18) or 4-h sleep opportunity (sleep restriction condition; n = 17) each night. Firefighters’ mood was assessed daily using the Mood Scale II and Samn-Perelli fatigue scale. Participants also provided samples for the determination of salivary cortisol and pro- (IL-6, IL-8, IL-1β, TNF-α) and anti-inflammatory (IL-4, IL-10) cytokine levels. An increase in the positive mood dimension Happiness was related to a rise in IL-8 and TNF-α in the sleep restriction condition. A rise in the positive mood dimension Activation among sleep restricted firefighters was also related to higher IL-6 levels. An increase in the negative mood dimension Fatigue in the sleep restriction condition was associated with increased IL-6, TNF-α, IL-10 and cortisol levels. In addition, an increase in Fear among sleep restricted firefighters was associated with a rise in TNF-α. Elevated positive mood and immune activation may reflect an appropriate response by the firefighters to these stressors. To further understand this relationship, subsequent firefighting-based research is needed that investigates whether immune changes are a function of affective arousal linked to the expression of positive moods. Positive associations between negative mood and inflammatory and cortisol levels to physical work and restricted sleep provide useful information to fire agencies about subjective fire-ground indicators of physiological changes.  相似文献

Background

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease noteworthy for its vulnerability to stress and emotion-induced symptom intensification. The fact that psychological stress and mood and anxiety disorders appear to increase expression of asthma symptoms suggests that neural signaling between the brain and lung at least partially modulates the inflammatory response and lung function. However, the precise nature of the neural pathways implicated in modulating asthma symptoms is unknown. Moreover, the extent to which variations in neural signaling predict different phenotypes of disease expression has not been studied.

Methods and Results

We used functional magnetic resonance imaging to measure neural signals in response to asthma-specific emotional cues, following allergen exposure, in asthmatics with a dual response to allergen challenge (significant inflammation), asthmatics with only an immediate response (minimal inflammation), and healthy controls. The anterior insular cortex was differentially activated by asthma-relevant cues, compared to general negative cues, during the development of the late phase of the dual response in asthmatics. Moreover, the degree of this differential activation predicted changes in airway inflammation.

Conclusions

These findings indicate that neurophenotypes for asthma may be identifiable by neural reactivity of brain circuits known to be involved in processing emotional information. Those with greater activation in the anterior insula, in response to asthma-relevant psychological stimuli, exhibit greater inflammatory signals in the lung and increased severity of disease and may reflect a subset of asthmatics most vulnerable to the development of psychopathology. This approach offers an entirely new target for potential therapeutic intervention in asthma.  相似文献

Support and management staff in elite sport experience work-related stress and emotional disturbance to a similar extent as athletes (Fletcher and Wagstaff 2009). The resonant frequency breathing technique (Lehrer et al. 2000) can inhibit autonomic changes associated with stressful situations or events and as such provides a potential emotional regulation tool. The present study utilised five practitioner-led heart rate variability (HRV) biofeedback sessions and home practice via mobile applications to train support and management staff (n = 9) in resonant frequency breathing techniques. Although baseline HRV did not change from pre to post training, participants increased total HRV (i.e., SDNN; p = .006), parasympathetic HRV (i.e., RMSSD; p = .028) and HRV reflective of baroreflex function (i.e., low frequency power; p = .018) while accurately performing resonant frequency breathing without a breath pacer. Post-intervention questionnaire data revealed an increase (p = .032) in habitual use of somatic strategies for emotional regulation, and social validation data suggested that the technique enhanced emotional regulation at home, work and during international competition. HRV biofeedback and the resonant frequency technique provided an on-demand emotional regulation technique for elite sport support and management staff.  相似文献

Morningness-eveningness, time of day, and physical exercises have been shown to influence mood states. This study aimed to test whether impact of physical exercise on mood depends on time of day and chronotype. Ninety-four participants (age 32 ± 6 years; 34% females; weekly training volume 4 ± 1 hours) filled the Composite Scale of Morningness and reported their current mood using the UWIST Mood Adjective Checklist before and after a 60-min long CrossFit training session which took part in the morning (beginning at 6:30 or 7:45) or in the evening (beginning at 19:30 or 20:45). In this quasi-experiment the measurements were taken by the occasion of the participants’ usual training, in their preferred hours. There were only a few evening-types in the studied sample, while morning and intermediate chronotypes were over-represented. Participation in CrossFit training resulted in mood improvement consisting of increase in energetic arousal (η2 = 0.29) and hedonic tone (η2 = 0.47) and reduction of tense arousal (η2 = 0.14), all significant at p = 0.001. Furthermore, CrossFit training during morning hours boosted mood in the intermediate/evening chronotype group to the levels observed in morning chronotypes (η2 = 0.29, p < 0.05, for the three-way interaction effect). We conclude that participation in intense physical exercise, such as CrossFit training, may allow compensation for the negative effects of non-optimal time of day on experienced moods, particularly in the case of neither/evening-types.  相似文献

The assessment of positive and negative short-term affective states (emotions) in animals and their modulation by long-term affective states (mood) is an on-going challenge. This study investigated the use of behavioural and physiological measures to assess emotions and their modulation by mood in sheep. To induce a more Positive and more Negative mood, two groups of sheep (n = 10 and 9) were kept under different housing conditions for 3 weeks. The Positive mood group was placed in a predictable environment rich in stimuli and with a calm human–animal interaction whereas sheep in the Negative mood group experienced a relatively barren and unpredictable environment with a harsher human–animal interaction. In the subsequent test week, 15 (8 and 7) experimental animals were exposed to four situations intended to elicit emotional reactions: separation from group members (negative valence), sham-grooming (low intensity negative), non-grooming (neutral), and grooming (positive valence). Data were tested for interactions between mood group and valence of the test situation using linear mixed models. More frequent ear-posture changes, a higher proportion of asymmetric ears, shorter inter-heartbeat intervals and higher respiration rates were observed during separation than during the other situations. Interactions between mood group and test situation showed that sheep in the Negative mood group reacted more negatively to the negative and more positively to the positive situation (proportion of asymmetric ears, inter-heartbeat interval, respiration rate). In conclusion, our findings suggest that sheep in a Positive mood reacted more weakly to an emotional situation independent of its valence, thus buffering negative events but also degrading positive events. In addition, this investigation showed the potential of using observations of ear postures and cardio-respiratory measures in sheep to assess the valence of short-term emotional states and their modulation by mood states.  相似文献

Mediation of the respiratory reflex effects of an exogenous serotonin challenge goes beyond the lung vagi and is suggested to involve the nodose ganglia. In the present experiments the effects of an intravenous serotonin challenge on breathing pattern were studied in 8 pentobarbitone-chloralose anaesthetised cats. Bolus injection of serotonin oxalate (50 µg/kg) into the right femoral vein evoked prompt apnoea of 19.2 (±2.4)-second duration in all 8 cats while intact; the apnoea was much shorter after midcervical vagal section (8.1±0.9 s, p<0.001), and was abolished by supranodose vagotomy. In post-apnoeic breaths, the tidal volume was reduced from a baseline of 34.1±4.0 to 13.5±1.1 ml (p<0.001) prior to, and from a baseline of 43.9±5.4 to 33.8±6.6 ml (p<0.01) after midcervical vagotomy; the serotonin challenge did not affect tidal volume following supranodose vagal section (p=0.4). The increase in respiratory rate found in intact (p<0.001) and midcervically vagotomised cats (p<0.01) was eliminated by the neurotomy above the nodose ganglia. Supranodose vagotomy altered cardiovascular response to serotonin by replacing the fall in blood pressure with an increase. These data suggest that the sequelae of serotonin-induced pulmonary chemoreflex, i.e. respiratory arrest, cardiovascular changes and post-apnoeic pattern of breathing require intact nodose ganglia.  相似文献

Previous studies suggested that defective arousal might be a major mechanism in sleep-disordered breathing such as sudden infant death syndrome and obstructive sleep apnea. In this study, we examined the effects of intermittent hypoxia (IH) on the arousal response to hypoxia in 4-day-old mice. We hypothesized that IH would increase arousal latency, as previously reported in other species, and we measured the concomitant changes in ventilation to shed light on the relationship between breathing and arousal. Arousal was scored according to behavioral criteria. Breathing variables were measured noninvasively by use of whole-body flow plethysmography. In the hypoxic group (n = 14), the pups were exposed to 5% O(2) in N(2) for 3 min and returned to air for 6 min. This test was repeated eight times. The normoxic mice (n = 14) were constantly exposed to normoxia. The hypoxic mice showed a 60% increase in arousal latency (P < 0.0001). Normoxic controls showed virtually no arousals. IH depressed normoxic ventilation below baseline prehypoxic levels, while preserving the ventilatory response to hypoxia. The breathing pattern and arousal responses recovered fully after 2 h of normoxia. We conclude that IH rapidly and reversibly depressed breathing and delayed arousal in newborn mice. Both effects may be due to hypoxia-induced release of inhibitory neurotransmitters acting concomitantly on both functions.  相似文献

Drug addiction is a complex disease with overlapping stages and influenced by multiple environmental and genetic factors. In addition to neurobiological changes, repeated drug exposure modulates affective responses to drug stimuli including visual cues. Here, we made a preliminary screening among ten Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNP) of the CNR1 (rs806368, rs1049353, rs6454674, rs7766029), FAAH (rs324420, rs12075550), DRD2 (rs6277), ANKK1 (rs1800497), COMT (rs4680), and OPRM1 (rs1799971) genes to identify that SNPs that were more directly associated with alcohol, tobacco and/or cannabis consumption in young individuals (n = 91). Also, affective rating for alcohol-, tobacco- and cannabis-related pictures was examined in each individual. Our results make it possible to select the rs324420 SNP (C385A) of the FAAH gene for further analysis. Increasing the sample size up to n = 185 we found that the homozygous CC C385A SNP genotype was associated with risky alcohol use (p = 0.006, odds ratio 2.38). Subsequently, we replicated this genetic association with risky alcohol use using another independent sample. Risky drinkers (mean 166.8 g pure alcohol) and smokers (more than 15 cigarettes) rated drug pictures more positively (p < 0.001) and they showed a strong positive correlation with drug use during weekends, which is the period in which the first problematic experiences with alcohol and other drugs appear (initial stages of the drug addiction process). As conclusion, because drug addiction is a multi-step process and a preventable disease, our results indicate that the FAAH C385A SNP is one of the most promising candidates for individuals who are at higher risk for alcohol problems.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The evening chronotype is associated with psychological symptoms such as depressed mood, while skin exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVR) may affect mood and behavior through neural and humoral routes. This pilot study aimed to investigate the impact of whole-body narrow-band (NB) UV-B exposure on current mood state and circulating 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 (25(OH)D3), interleukin-6 (IL-6), cortisol and β-endorphin (β-END) levels in healthy participants. Here, eleven healthy women received full-body NB UV-B exposures on four afternoons, and the chronotype was assessed with a shortened version of Horne and Östberg’s Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire (MEQ). Perceived mood was evaluated using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), and serum 25(OH)D3, IL-6, cortisol and β-END concentrations were monitored daily. Decreasing VAS values showed mood to improve significantly over the five days after the four suberythematous NB UV-B exposures (p = .038), and the more the circadian preference was inclined toward eveningness, the greater the improvement in the mood dimension of wellbeing (p = .021). Baseline mood state was correlated with baseline 25(OH)D3 (r = ?0.54, 95% CI: ?0.86 to ?0.09) and with baseline cortisol (r = ?0.57, 95% CI: ?0.87 to ?0.04). During the NB UV-B exposures, 25(OH)D3 increased significantly, as expected, and IL-6 declined significantly by ?0.35 (95% CI: ?0.69 to ?0.07) pg/mL from the initial values of 1.12 ± 0.66 pg/mL (p = .025). In conclusion, in our pilot study, NB UV-B exposure improved mood, especially among those with evening preference for their daily activities, as well as circulating 25(OH)D3 levels, whereas circulating IL-6 levels decreased.

An important feature of olfactory perception is its dependence on respiratory activity. By inspiration, olfactory information ascends directly to olfactory-related limbic structures. Therefore, every breath with odor molecules activates these limbic areas associated with emotional experience and memory retrieval. We tested whether odors associated with autobiographical memories can trigger pleasant emotional experiences and whether respiration changes during stimulation with these odors. During presentation of odors related to autobiographical memories and control odors, we measured minute ventilation, tidal volume, respiratory frequency, O2 consumption, and end tidal CO2 concentration. Findings showed that autobiographical memory retrieval was associated with increasing tidal volume and decreasing respiratory frequency more than during presentation of control odors. Subjective feelings such as emotional arousal during retrieval of the memory, arousal level of the memory itself, or pleasantness and familiarity toward the odor evoked by autobiographical memory were more specific emotional responses compared with those related to control odors. In addition, high trait anxiety subjects responded with a stronger feeling of being taken back in time and had high arousal levels with tidal volume increases. We discussed assumptions regarding how deep and slow breathing is related to pleasantness and comfortableness of an autobiographical memory.  相似文献

Farming systems can expose animals to chronic mild stress which is known to induce negative affective state. Affective state in animals, as in humans, can be assessed through behavioral cues. This study aimed to describe the effect of a chronic mild stress, known to induce a negative affective state, on sheep health through their response to vaccination. The study used 15 lambs subjected to a model of chronic mild stress for 15 weeks and 15 lambs reared under conventional farming as a control group. After 7 weeks of stressful treatment, the lambs were individually exposed to a judgment bias test to assess a putative stress-induced ‘pessimism.’ After 15 weeks of stressful treatment, antibody immune response was measured after an injection of a live vaccine challenge (Chlamydia abortus attenuated vaccine strain 1B). Stressed lambs displayed a pessimistic-like perception in the judgment bias test, revealing a negative affective state. Stressed and control animals showed different immunological reactions to vaccine challenge: stressed sheep had lower hemoglobin concentrations and higher platelet, granulocyte and acute-phase protein concentrations. Antibody response induced by the vaccine strain was not different between stressed and control sheep. Our results suggest that negative affective state induced by chronic stress treatment may induce a stronger inflammatory response to vaccine challenge in sheep. Improvement of animal health may be achieved through consideration of stressors that may affect the emotional and immunological state of sheep.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Individuals with an evening chronotype are at increased risk of experiencing emotional problems, including depressive symptoms. However, the mechanisms underlying these associations remain unclear. The present study aimed to determine whether poor sleep quality, substance use and cognitive emotion regulation difficulties – which have been implicated in the etiology of depression – mediate the relationship between chronotype and depressive symptoms in a student sample, which was assessed cross-sectionally and after 1 year. A total of 742 Dutch students (75% women, mean age 21.4 ± 2.9 years) completed the Quick Inventory of Depressive Symptomatology, the Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, a questionnaire assessing alcohol, caffeine, tobacco and cannabis use, the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire and the Behavioral Inhibition/Activation Scale. A subsample (n = 115) was assessed 1 year later with the same questionnaires. Cross-sectional analyses showed that evening chronotype was associated with more depressive symptoms, adjusted for age and gender (β = ?0.082, p = 0.028). The relationship between eveningness and depressive symptoms was mediated by sleep quality, alcohol consumption and the cognitive emotion regulation strategies of self-blame and positive reappraisal. In longitudinal analyses, eveningness at baseline predicted more depressive symptoms at follow-up, adjusted for age and gender (β = ?0.29, p = 0.002); after additional adjustment for baseline depressive symptoms, chronotype remained a significant predictor of depressive symptoms at T2 (β = ?0.16, t = ?2.01, p = 0.047). Only poor sleep quality at follow-up was a significant mediator of this relationship. Even though the effect is small in terms of explained variance, eveningness is related to depressive symptoms and this relationship is mediated by poor sleep quality, also in a prospective design. Self-blame and reduced positive reappraisal are correlated with eveningness. Further research is needed to assess the efficacy of chronotherapeutic interventions for the prevention of depression, in addition to sleep education and cognitive approaches.  相似文献

Emotional and behavioral problems have been considered an indicative of mental disorder in children. Mental health problems affect 10–20% of children and adolescents living in low-income and middle-income countries. Evidence suggests that disruptions in the biological rhythm may be a primary cause of emotional and behavioral changes, which affects several psychological functions and moods. Thus, this study aimed at verifying the association between biological rhythm and emotional and behavioral problems in schoolchildren living in Southern Brazil. This is a cross-sectional study with a school-based sample conducted between August 2015 and November 2016. The presence of emotional and behavioral problems in children was verified by the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), parents’ version. This is a 25-item assessment questionnaire used to screen mental health problems in children and adolescents (from 4 to 17 years of age) in the last 6 months. The Biological Rhythm Interview of Assessment in Neuropsychiatry-Kids (BRIAN-K) was used to measure the degree of biological rhythm disruption. The BRIAN-K consists of 20 items; from among these, 17 items are added to generate a quantitative measure, with greater scores indicating more biological rhythm disruption. The final score can also be divided into four subscales: sleep, social rhythm, eating pattern and overall activities. A total of 609 children responded to the assessment instruments. With regard to parents or primary caregiver, 596 completed the assessment and 13 (2%) were not located or refused to participate in the study. Thus, 596 dyads were included in the analysis. Children with emotional and behavioral problems presented higher scores in all domains of BRIAN-K: sleep, social, activity, eating pattern and total score (p < 0.001). The following variables remained associated with emotional and behavioral problems after adjusted analysis: BRIAN-K total score (p < 0.001) and all subscales sleep (p < 0.001), social (p < 0.001), activity (p < 0.001) and eating pattern (p < 0.001). Children with emotional and behavioral problems presented higher biological rhythm disruption when compared with children without emotional and behavioral problems. Our study emphasizes the importance of biological rhythm and its influence on emotional and behavioral problems in schoolchildren. Early detection of any biological rhythm disruption may enhance further assessment of any eventual emotional and behavioral problem and even a psychopathology.  相似文献

Rodent pups vocalize when placed in social isolation. We apply a method of “joint calls” for examining discomfort in rodent pup ultrasonic (>20 kHz) calls. Previously, this method has been developed for audible calls of fur farm mammals. Using a repeated measures design to exclude effects of individual identity and age on the analysed variables, we compared the ultrasonic call variables produced by 8–40-day pups of fat-tailed gerbils Pachyuromys duprasi during two subsequent experimental stages, the Isolation Stage and the Handling Stage. We considered that discomfort-related negative emotional arousal increased towards the Handling Stage compared to the Isolation Stage because of cumulative effects of handling and time of pup isolation from the nest. At the Isolation Stage, the call rate (calls/s) was higher from 10 to 18 days of age, whereas both the maximum amplitude frequency and power quartiles of joint calls were lower than at the Handling Stage from 20 to 32 days of age. At the same time, in audible (<20 kHz) vocalizations of a wide range of mammalian species, both the higher call rate and the upward shift of the maximum amplitude frequency and power quartiles indicate the discomfort-related increase of negative emotional arousal. We discuss the advantages of the method of joint calls for express-analyses of power variables for large sequences of ultrasonic vocalizations of complex acoustic structure during experimental trials.  相似文献
