The seasonal changes of insecticide resistance and stability in hymenopteran Cotesia plutellae, collected from Jianxin, Fuzhou-City, and Shangjie, Minhou-County, Fujian, China, were assessed by using a dry residual film method. The resistance to two insecticides in the field populations of C. plutellae was not stable under insecticide-free conditions in the insectarium. Compared with susceptible F11 progeny of C. plutellae in the insectarium, the resistance ratios (RR) in F0 parents were 18.4 for fenvalerate and 11.4 for cypermethrin based on LC50 at 9 hours, and 32.8 for fenvalerate and 28.5 for cypermethrin based on LC50 at 24 hours when the parasitoids were left in contact with the insecticides for 1 hour and mortalities were recorded at 9 and 24 hours, respectively. However, the RR in a field population of C. plutellae were 9.2 for fenvalerate and 12.7 for cypermethrin, if the parasitoids were left in contact with the insecticides for 24 hours. The resistances to the two pyrethroids in other field populations collected from Jianxin and Shangjie from November 2000 and July 2004 were also determined. Significant seasonal variations of resistance to the two insecticides in the field populations of C. plutellae were found. The RR were 3.0-18.4 for fenvalerate and 4.8-20.6 for cypermethrin in Jianxin populations from November 2000 to April 2002 based on LC50 at 9 h, and 2.3-13.6 for fenvalerate and 3.6-16.0 for cypermethrin in Shangjie populations from May 2002 to July 2004 based on LC50 at 24 hours. The resistance levels were high in spring and autumn and decreased sharply in summer. In addition, significant recovery from the knocked-down caused by the insecticides was found in the F0 and field populations of C. plutellae which were resistant to fenvalerate and cypermethrin if the parasitoids were left in contact with the pyrethroids for 1 hour. Among the ectoparasites of cattle, Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus (Canestrini) (Acari: Ixodidae) remains a major cause of economic losses to livestock. The chemical control with acaricides is still the most efficient method available to control ticks. The aims of this study were to diagnose resistance to amitraz in 16 tick populations from the States of São Paulo (14) and Paraná (2), using the larval immersion technique (LIT), and evaluate the effect of synergists [piperonyl butoxide (PBO), diethyl maleate (DEM), triphenyl phosphate (TPP)] on amitraz resistant and susceptible strains of cattle tick. Most of the evaluated populations (68.7 %) showed to be resistant to amitraz, with resistance ratios ranging from 2.14 to 132. The results suggest that the test procedure by LIT is sensitive and adequate for detection and monitoring of amitraz resistance in cattle tick. No synergistic effect was observed for the synergists PBO, DEM and TPP, on the amitraz resistant (Poa) strain of cattle tick, indicating that increased detoxification metabolism was not involved in this resistance.  相似文献

The susceptibility of Culex tritaeniorhynchus collected from Gwangju, Jeollabuk Province, Republic of Korea (ROK) to insecticides was evaluated under laboratory conditions using ten insecticides (7 pyrethroids and 3 organophosphates) that are currently applied by local public health centers in the ROK. Based on the values of median lethal concentration (LC50), Cx. tritaeniorhynchus larvae were most susceptible to chlorpyrifos (0.006 ppm), fenitrothion (0.022 ppm), fenthion (0.035 ppm) and bifenthrin (0.038 ppm), and were least susceptible to esbiol (1.722 ppm). In comparative resistance tests, the resistance ratios (RRs) of seven insecticides were compared among each other using two strains of Cx. tritaeniorhynchus that were collected from the same locality during 1992 and 2010. Culex tritaeniorhynchus demonstrated significantly increased RRs to pyrethroids over time, while demonstrating decreased RRs among the organophosphates. Among the pyrethroids, permethrin had the highest RR values of 182.1‐ and 833.3‐fold differences, followed by etofenprox with RRs of 138.4‐ and 224.1‐fold differences in values of LC50 and concentration that produced 90% mortality (LC90), respectively. Culex tritaeniorhynchus strains demonstrated the least amount of change in susceptibility to the organophosphates, chlorpyrifos, fenitrothion and fenthion with 0.020‐, 0.019‐ and 0.001‐fold differences in resistance ratios (RRLC50), respectively.  相似文献

Larval packet test was used for detection of resistance levels against cypermethrin and deltamethrin, the most commonly used synthetic pyrethroids, in the multi-host tick Hyalomma anatolicum collected from district Moga, Punjab (India). Results indicated the presence of level I resistance against deltamethrin (RF = 2.81), whereas the tick isolate was susceptible to cypermethrin (RF = 0.2). The aqueous and ethanolic extracts of leaves of Cymbopogon winterianus, Vitex negundo and Withania somnifera along with roots of Vitex negundo were assessed for their acaricidal activity against the larvae of deltamethrin resistant H. anatolicum. The efficacy was assessed by measuring per cent larval mortality and determination of LC50 values. The various ethanolic extracts produced a concentration dependent increase in larval tick mortality, whereas the aqueous extracts exhibited a much lower mortality. The highest mortality (93.7 ± 0.66 %) was observed at the 5.0 % concentration of ethanolic extract of leaves of C. winterianus and the lowest LC50 value (0.011 %) was recorded for ethanolic extracts of leaves of V. negundo. The results indicated that these plant extracts have potential to be developed as herbal acaricides.  相似文献

The chickpea pod borer, Helicoverpa armigera (Hübner) is one of the most destructive pests of India and most of the countries. In this experiment, sub-lethal effects of cypermethrin were evaluated against sixth instar larvae of this pest that had ingested insecticide-treated chickpea pods. The LC50, LC30 and LC10 values of cypermethrin were 80.38, 26.65 and 5.41?mg a.i.?L?1, respectively, against sixth instar. The sub-lethal effects on fitness, eggs, larvae, pupae, adult longevity and reproduction were observed in H. armigera population that survived exposure to the sub-lethal doses of LC50, LC30 and LC10 of cypermethrin. Survivorship was reduced to 36?days if H. armigera exposed to the sub-lethal dose of LC50, whereas it was 42?days in unexposed groups. Larvae treated with LC50 dose exhibit lowest intrinsic rate of increase (rm) (0.0413 females/female/day) and highest (0.0517) with the unexposed group. Time taken by H. armigera to complete one generation (Tc) was 40.09?days, while this time significantly lowered to 32.85?days when exposed to the sub-lethal dose of LC30. Hatching eggs were greatly reduced in the larvae exposed to cypermethrin at all the sub-lethal doses. About 430 eggs/female/generation were recorded after treatment with 80.38?mg/L as compared with untreated females (1390). Larvae that were exposed to sub-lethal concentrations of cypermethrin exhibited lower pupal weight and prolonged pupal developmental times compared control larvae. The overall fitness performance was better in the unexposed population as compared to the population exposed to sub-lethal doses.  相似文献

The African bollworm, Helicoverpa armigera (Hübner), and the cotton red spider mite, Tetranychus spp., are important pests of cotton in Zimbabwe. A study to assess H. armigera resistance to fenvalerate 20 EC (Cyano (3-phenoxyphenyl) methyl 4-chloro-α-(1-methylethyl)benzene acetate) and Tetranychus spp. resistance to amitraz 20 EC (n’-(2,4-dimethylphenyl)-n-[[(2,4-dimethylphenyl)imino]methyl]-n-) was conducted at the Cotton Research Institute (CRI) during the 2005/06 cotton-growing season. Field populations of H. armigera and Tetranychus spp. were collected from some of Zimbabwe’s major cotton-growing areas of Sanyati, Umguza, Chisumbanje, Chinhoyi and the CRI in Kadoma and exposed to bioassays. The African bollworm leaf disc technique and the red spider mite attached leaf-dipping technique were used to assess responses of the African bollworm and red spider mite to the pesticides. Susceptible laboratory populations served as the standard populations and their responses were compared with those of the field populations. The graphical method and MSTAT-C probit analysis computer program were used to calculate LC50 values. Although the CRI field population, used as a reference population for the registration of H. armigera insecticides, had the highest LC50 value (graphical?=?0.000100000; MSTAT-C?=?0.000088195) compared with all the other field populations, overall log-dose probit bioassays on all field-collected strains of the bollworm showed no resistance to the pyrethroid (RFs?=?0.04–0.54-fold). Tetranychus spp. showed very low levels of resistance (RFs?=?1.26–2.00-fold). Continuous monitoring of major cotton pests, especially H. armigera and Tetranychus spp., from all cotton districts of Zimbabwe is vital for early detection of resistance development.  相似文献

Chilli thrips, Scirtothrips dorsalis Hood (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) is a major, economically important, and recent invasive pest of strawberries and other horticultural crops in United States. Several conventional insecticides are used for S. dorsalis management, and resistance development threatens loss of few available tools. Hence, our objectives were to: (1) determine the susceptibility of S. dorsalis to commonly used conventional insecticides: spinetoram, acetamiprid, cyantraniliprole and bifenthrin, and (2) establish LC50 and LC90 dosages for spinetoram against S. dorsalis. Sampling of S. dorsalis populations was conducted twice in seven strawberry fields in Florida during the strawberry field season between 2019 and 2020. Leaf-disc bioassays were performed with field collected populations along with a susceptible 2-year-old laboratory culture of S. dorsalis. Overall, at highest recommended rate the percent mortality of late season S. dorsalis populations from five out of seven collection sites was lower (~41%) than average mortality observed with early season populations (~72%). Populations from at least four out of seven sampling sites exhibited significantly lower mortality than the laboratory susceptible culture in late season. The LC50 and LC90 values for spinetoram for the susceptible laboratory population were 0.026 and 8.64 ppm, respectively. On the other hand, LC50 values of field collected populations to spinetoram varied with resistance ratios ranging from 6 to 269 fold as compared against the laboratory strain. Our results suggest that susceptibility of S. dorsalis to commonly used insecticides in strawberries varies significantly between early and late season populations within the same crop season. The efficacy of bifenthrin against S. dorsalis was particularly low (~ reduced to half in late season), especially among field collected populations. Our results indicate an urgent need to incorporate other pest management strategies, as well as effective rotation programs to reduce selection for resistance among populations of S. dorsalis in strawberry production.  相似文献

This study aimed to monitor the present and future developments of the resistance of Tetranychus urticae Koch to fenpyroximate and pyridaben, using the relationship of the LC50 and slope of the concentration-mortality line in a probit model, for the provision of reliable resistance management tactics. Tetranychus urticae populations were collected from 16 commercial greenhouses, where various crops were cultivated, as well as from 10 apple orchards throughout Korea. The resistance to fenpyroximate and pyridaben of each population was estimated by calculating the median lethal concentration (LC50), resistance ratio (RR) and slope of the concentration-mortality regression. Most of the greenhouse populations exhibited moderate levels of resistance, whereas the apple orchard populations showed only low levels, indicating that T. urticae populations in greenhouses were more strongly selected than those in apple orchards. Four population groups were established based on either the habitats (greenhouse and apple orchard) or acaricides (fenpyroximate and pyridaben). To test the hypothesis, “the slope is greatest at low and high levels of resistance,” the slopes were regressed as a function of the LC50, and fitted to a polynomial regression. The polynomial regression model explained this relationship well for the four population groups (p < 0.05), indicating that the development of resistance toward fenpyroximate or pyridaben was consistent with the gradient. A laboratory selection study agreed with the results from both acaricide field populations. These results suggest that the gradient was a good indicator of the susceptibility of T. urticae to genetic variations, which was related to the LC50. The application of these findings is also discussed in relation to the resistance management of T. urticae.  相似文献

Cypermethrin and crude extracts of Solanum xanthocarpum were both observed for their larvicidal activity against Culex quinquefasciatus. Petroleum ether extract with lethal concentration (LC)50 and LC90 of 41.28 and 111.16 p.p.m. after 24 h and LC50 38.48 and LC90 80.83 p.p.m. after 48 h, respectively, was found to be the most effective, followed by carbon tetrachloride and methanol extracts. LC50 and LC90 for cypermethrin were 0.0027 and 0.0097 p.p.m. after 24 h and 0.0013 and 0.0092 p.p.m. after 48 h of exposure, respectively. Combined formulations were evaluated for synergistic activity and a 1:1 ratio of cypermethrin and petroleum ether extract was observed to be more effective than 1:2 and 1:4 ratios. Combinations of S. xanthocarpum extracts and cypermethrin demonstrated higher larvicidal activity, indicating synergistic activity. These results demonstrate the need for further studies on the effectiveness and toxicity to humans and animals, particularly aquatic forms.  相似文献

Thirty‐five codling moth (CM, Cydia pomonella L., Lepidoptera, Tortricidae) populations collected in different commercial orchards in six European countries were tested for their susceptibility to Cydia pomonella granulovirus (CpGV‐M). Including previously published data on CpGV‐M resistance, a total of 38 CM colonies showed considerably elevated LC50 values, independent of the country origin. When only few test individuals are available, determination of mortality of neonate larvae at a discriminating concentration range of 104 to 106 OB/ml (>log4) as a direct measure of percentage susceptible individuals in a CM population is more advisable than calculation of LC50 values. The >log4 mortality alone or in combination with the LC50 value can be used for identification of resistance in a population. Results indicated a locally separated but widely spread occurrence of CM populations with low susceptibility to CpGV‐M. The most plausible hypothesis for the emergence of CpGV‐M resistance is its selection by repeated use of CpGV products.  相似文献

The tomato leafminer, Tuta absoluta (Meyrich) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae), is a serious pest of tomato crops worldwide. The intensive use of chemical pesticides to control it has led to the selection of resistant populations. This study investigated the resistance of T. absoluta populations to pyrethroid and the organophosphate insecticides from ten regions of Iran. The resistance ratios at LC50 for chlorpyrifos and diazinon varied among populations from 4.3 to 12 and from 1.4 to 9.0, respectively. The resistance ratios of the pyrethroids cypermethrin, deltamethrin and permethrin varied from 1.3 to 3.7, 2.7 to 13 and 1.2 to 4.3, respectively. Inclusion of synergists in toxicological bioassays and the variation observed in the activity of esterases, glutathione Stransferase and cytochrome P450‐dependent monooxygenase suggest the existence of metabolically based resistance. Esterase and P450 biochemical assays were positively correlated with deltamethrin, and cypermethrin tolerance and diazinon tolerance correlated with esterase activity. The genes encoding the organophosphate and pyrethroid target sites acetylcholinesterase (ace1) and sodium channel (kdr) were partly sequenced. The genotyping revealed mutations in high frequencies in all populations leading to an A201S substitution in ace1 and three substitutions in the sodium channel gene L1014F, M918T, T929I. In summary, our results indicate the presence of organophosphate and pyrethroid resistance in Iranian T. absoluta populations with involvement of both detoxification enzymes and target site alterations. Most likely the populations of T. absoluta imported to Iran were resistant upon arrival.  相似文献

The tick Rhipicephalus sanguineus is a very common parasite of dogs worldwide. Dogs seem unable to acquire resistance against this tick species, whereas guinea pigs demonstrate a very strong resistance following primary infestation. We studied the inflammatory reaction at the R. sanguineus tick feeding site on dogs and guinea pigs during primary and tertiary infestations at different time intervals after attachment. Biopsies were collected after 4, 24, 48 and 96 hours. Changes that were found in all experimental groups included a cone of cement around the mouthparts of the tick, epidermal hyperplasia, edema and inflammatory cell infiltration in the dermis directly underneath the tick attachment site. Dogs reacted to ticks mainly with neutrophils, particularly after repeated exposure. Mast cells and mononuclear leukocytes were also present. Guinea pigs reacted to R. sanguineus mainly with mononuclear cells, eosinophils and basophils. These cells were particularly numerous after repeated exposure to R. sanguineus. Our results suggest that basophils and eosinophils are involved in resistance of guinea pigs to R. sanguineus and that neutrophils in dogs have little effect against this tick species.  相似文献

Chemical acaricides, especially fipronil (active ingredient of Frontline®), are still the most effective method to control tick populations. In this study, the effectiveness of fipronil was assessed in semi-engorged females of the tick Rhipicephalus sanguineus. A protocol for an in vitro bioassay (AIT) was developed, and the LC50 (lethal concentration 50%) and 95% confidence interval were determined. Ticks were immersed in Petri dishes with different concentrations of fipronil or distilled water for 2 min, dried, and placed in an incubator for 7 days. Dead R. sanguineus females treated with the 14 concentrations of fipronil were counted daily. Mortality results were compared with the Probit analysis, and the LC50 and 95% confidence interval were calculated, g (95): LC50 = 9.647 (4.711 to 13.470). This study was aimed at developing a more appropriate and updated protocol for an in vitro bioassay (AIT – adult immersion test), and providing information on the toxic potential of fipronil (elimination of ectoparasites with lower concentrations) and sensitivity of ticks, especially R. sanguineus, a pest of great interest, due to its occurrence in urban environments.  相似文献

The repellency and toxicity of a CO2-derived cedarwood oil (CWO) was evaluated against actively questing unfed nymphs of four species of hard ticks: Amblyomma americanum (L.), Dermacentor variabilis (Say), Ixodes scapularis Say, and Rhipicephalus sanguineus (Latreille). Using a vertical climb bioassay for repellency, nymphs of these species avoided a CWO-treated filter paper in proportional responses to treatment concentrations. At 60 min of exposure, I. scapularis nymphs were most sensitive with 50% repellency concentration (RC50) of 19.8 µg cm?2, compared with RC50 of 30.8, 83.8 and 89.6 µg cm?2 for R. sanguineus, D. variabilis and A. americanum, respectively. Bioassays determined the lethal concentration for 50% (LC50) and 90% (LC90) mortality of nymphs exposed to CWO in treated vials after 24- and 48-h exposure. After 24 h exposure, the LC50 values were 1.25, 3.45 and 1.42 µg cm?2 and LC90 values were 2.39, 7.59 and 4.14 µg cm?2 for D. variabilis, I. scapularis and R. sanguineus, respectively, but had minimal effect on A. americanum. After 48 h exposure, the LC50 values were 4.14, 0.78, 0.79 and 0.52 µg cm?2, and LC90 values were 8.06, 1.48, 1.54 and 1.22 µg cm?2 for A. americanum, D. variabilis, I. scapularis and R. sanguineus, respectively. The repellency of CWO on tick species decreased with time. The repellency and toxicity bioassays demonstrated concentration-dependent responses of tick nymphs to the oil, indicating the potential of the CO2-derived cedarwood oil be developed as an eco-friendly repellent and/or acaricide.

There have been few, if any, studies of arthropod field populations quantifying the kinetics of evolution of phenotypic and genotypic resistance to chemicals in response to the presence or absence of selection pressure. A prospective intervention study was undertaken over 2 years in Mexico to measure changes in resistance phenotype and genotype in the presence or absence of pyrethroid selection pressure on field populations of Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus ticks on 11 farms with varying degrees of pyrethroid resistance. The resistance phenotype was evaluated by bioassay in a larval packet test expressed as the resistance factor (RF) derived from probit analysis of dose mortality regressions, and resistance genotype by an allele-specific PCR (AS-PCR) to determine the frequency of a sodium channel mutation (F1550I) associated with pyrethroid resistance. To validate the AS-PCR, a Pyrosequencing? method was developed to detect the F1550I mutation. There was good concordance with the genotypes identified by both Pyrosequencing? and AS-PCR (Kappa: 0.85). On five farms cypermethrin (CY) was exclusively used at intervals and on six farms amitraz was used. On two of the five CY-treated farms, the experiment was prematurely terminated due to unacceptably high levels of tick resistance. For all five farms, after 8–24 months of continued selection pressure with CY, the RF had increased 2–125-fold. The frequency of the resistance allele increased on all five farms from a starting range of 5–46% to a range of 66–95% after 8–24 months. On six farms treated with amitraz neither the RF nor the frequency of the resistance allele changed. A clear correlation between the phenotype and genotype was found in three of four treated farms confirming that the F1550I mutation is a major cause of synthetic pyrethroid resistance in Mexico. These results show that the pyrethroid resistance trait is stable (> 2 years) and that resistance is acquired much faster than it is lost. Hence, alternation of pyrethroid acaricide with other chemicals is likely to lead to the stepwise acquisition of synthetic pyrethroid resistance but not additional prolongation of its efficacious lifespan.  相似文献

Tick and blood samples collected from domestic dogs in the Brazilian Pantanal were tested by molecular methods for the presence of tick‐borne protozoa and bacteria. Among 320 sampled dogs, 3.13% were infected by Babesia vogeli (Piroplasmida: Babesiidae), 8.75% by Hepatozoon canis (Eucoccidiorida: Hepatozoidae), 7.19% by Anaplasma platys (Rickettsiales: Anaplasmataceae), and 0.94% by an unclassified Anaplasma sp. In three tick species collected from dogs, the following tick‐borne agents were detected: (a) B. vogeli, An. platys and Ehrlichia canis (Rickettsiales: Anaplasmataceae), infecting Rhipicephalus sanguineus sensu lato (Ixodida: Ixodidae) ticks; (b) H. canis, an unclassified Anaplasma sp. and Rickettsia amblyommii (Rickettsiales: Rickettsiaceae), infecting Amblyomma cajennense sensu lato (Ixodida: Ixodidae) ticks, and (c) Rickettsia sp. strain Atlantic rainforest, an emerging human pathogen, infecting Amblyomma ovale ticks. Molecular analysis, based on a mitochondrial gene, revealed that the Am. cajennense s.l. ticks of the present study corresponded to Amblyomma sculptum, a member of the Am. cajennense species complex, and that Rh. sanguineus s.l. belonged to the tropical lineage. Whereas dogs are exposed to a number of tick‐borne bacterial and protozoan agents in the Pantanal biome, humans are potentially exposed to infection by spotted fever group rickettsiae (e.g. R. amblyommii and Rickettsia sp. strain Atlantic rainforest) because both Am. sculptum and Am. ovale are among the most important human‐biting ticks in Brazil.  相似文献

Field collected populations of two mosquito species, Culex pipiens pallens and Aedes albopictus, were tested for susceptibility to five pyrethroid insecticides using a topical application bioassay. The laboratory strain of Cx. pipiens pallens (KS‐CP) demonstrated the most and the lowest susceptibility to deltamethrin and d‐cis/trans prallethrine with LD50 values of 0.00022 μg/♀ and 0.00178 μg/♀, respectively, while Ae. albopictus (KS‐AL) showed the greatest and the lowest susceptibility to phthalethrin and deltamethrin with LD50 values of 0.00015 μg/♀ and 0.00085 μg/♀, respectively. Cx. pipiens pallens (JF‐CP) collected at a nearby rice field in Jeonju showed the greatest susceptibility to deltamethrin (LD50 value of 0.0473 μg/♀) and the resistance ratios (RRs) and compared to the laboratory strain were 215 fold greater. JF‐CP demonstrated the lowest susceptibility to d‐cis/trans phenothrin (0.7697 μg/♀) with RRs 711.0 fold greater than the KS‐CP. An Ae. albopictus (JF‐AL) collected at a nearby forest in Jeonju showed the highest susceptibility to deltamethrin (0.00203 μg/♀) with RRs 2.4 fold greater than the KS‐AL. JF‐AL demonstrated the lowest susceptibility to d‐cis/trans prallethrine (LD50 value 0.00646 μg/♀) with RRs 9.4 fold greater than the KS‐AL. JF‐AL demonstrated the greatest resistance to phthalethrin with RRs 39.3 fold greater than the KS‐AL. Resistance ratios of Cx. pipiens pallens between field and laboratory strains ranged from 215.0 to 711.0 and Ae. albopictus ranged from 2.4 to 39.3. These results indicate that the choice of effective insecticides to selected species of mosquito populations will result in more effective control against field strains of mosquito vectors and decrease environmental pollution.  相似文献

A study was conducted to determine the susceptibility of Anopheles sinensis larvae, malaria vector, from Paju‐shi (Gyonggi‐do) to 24 pesticides including 11 pyrethroids, 11 organophosphates, 1 pyrazole analogue and another pesticide. The mosquito larvae showed the most highly susceptible to chlorfenapyr with LC50 of 0.0063 ppm followed by spinosad, temephos, fenthion and beta‐cyfluthrin with 0.03, 0.0366, 0.0367 and 0.0998 ppm, respectively, and fluvalinate (>128 ppm) was the least susceptible. Also, 11 pesticides of them were compared with Goyang strain (Gyonggi‐do) of data 1992. The development of resistance was noticed to cypermethrin and permethrin as much of 73.59 and 6.23 folds at LC50, respectively, and also fluvalinate was showed high resistance development. Insecticide resistance patterns among 16 Brazilian populations of the maize weevil, Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), were recognized by surveying resistance to three organophosphates (chlorpyrifos‐methyl, malathion, and pirimiphos‐methyl) and three pyrethroids (cypermethrin, deltamethrin, and permethrin). Two population clusters were obtained: one with three populations (Bragança Paulista, Cristalina, and Nova Andradina) showing low frequency of cypermethrin resistance (13–36%) and negligible frequency of deltamethrin resistance (2–9%); and another with six populations (Campos dos Goytacazes, Ivinhema, Patos de Minas, Penápolis, Uberlândia, and Venda Nova) showing low to negligible levels of pyrethroid resistance (0–23%). The remaining seven populations, including a susceptible, and a DDT‐ and pyrethroid‐resistant reference populations (Sete Lagoas and Jacarezinho, respectively), were significantly different from each other and from the two recognized clusters. In contrast with pyrethroid resistance, organophosphate resistance was negligible except for chlorpyrifos‐methyl in two populations (Fátima do Sul and Penápolis). There was no correlation between geographic distance and the Mahalanobis distance estimated from the resistance pattern ordination of the populations by canonical variate analysis, suggesting local selection and/or broad dispersal of resistant populations by grain trade. The results of biochemical in vitro studies measuring the activity of detoxification enzymes (esterases and glutathion S‐transferases) in conjunction with canonical correlation analysis suggest a major involvement of enhanced conjugation by glutathione S‐transferases (> 2‐fold increase) in pyrethroid resistance and, in the case of cypermethrin resistance, enhanced phosphotriesterase activity.  相似文献
