Somatic chromosomes of six specimens belonging to the following five species of artiodactyls (Artiodactyla: Mammalia) are described: A female nilgai (Boselaphus tragocamelus), 2n=46; male baresingha (Rucervus duvauceli), two specimens, 2n=56; a female Himalayan tahr (Hemitragus jemlahicus), 2n=48; a female Kirk's dik-dik (Rhynchotragus kirki), 2n=46; and a male sambar (Cervus unicolor), 2n=58. In the baresingha and the sambar, one or more acrocentric chromosomes carried satellites on their long arms. 3H-thymidine radioautographs of cultured cells of the Himalayan tahr showed a long acrocentric chromosome to be late-replicating, suggesting that it is an X chromosome.  相似文献

The male and female of Polycentropus cianficconiae sp. n. (Peloritani Mountains, Northeast Sicily) are described. This new species is related to P. divergens Mosely, 1930, of which the variability of some characters of male genitalia is examined. Female genitalia of the new species are compared to those of P. divergens, P. malickyi Moretti, 1981 and P. mortoni Mosely, 1930. The characters of female genitalia are useful for evaluating the relatedness and differences among the species. They agree with the findings of the study on male genitalia.  相似文献

A new Phytolyma species from Cameroon is described. Phytolyma tchuentei sp.n. is similar to P. minuta Hollis but antenna, male and female terminalia are different from the four described African Phytolyma species. P. tchuentei sp.n. develops on Morus mesozygia (Moraceae). Unlike the other Phytolyma species, the new species does not cause galls on leaves and buds of its host.  相似文献

Three new species of fleas belonging to the genus Macrostylophora (Siphonaptera, Ceratophyllidae) are described from the three‐striped ground squirrel, Lariscus insignis, from Tjibodas, West Java (Jawa Barat), Indonesia at an elevation of 1500 m. Macrostylophora larisci sp. n. is described from three male specimens, Macrostylophora debilitata sp. n. is described from one male and Macrostylophora wilsoni sp. n. is described from one female. Non‐genital morphological characters of the female specimen, including ctenidial spine shapes and lengths, show that it is not the corresponding female for either M. larisci sp. n. or M. debilitata sp. n. It is unusual for three different species of congeneric fleas to parasitize the same host species in the same geographical location. These three new species represent the first known records of Macrostylophora from Java and they could be enzootic vectors between rodents of flea‐borne zoonotic pathogens such as Rickettsia typhi and Yersinia pestis, both of which are established on Java. A list is provided of the 43 known species and 12 subspecies of Macrostylophora together with their known geographical distributions and hosts. A map depicting the distributions of known Indonesian (and Bornean) species of Macrostylophora is also included.  相似文献

A new species of Acusicola is described based on adults of both sexes taken from plankton samples collected in the upper reaches of the Piauí River estuary, in the northeast of Brazil. Ovigerous females were present in the plankton. The new species, Acusicola minuta n. sp., can be distinguished from its congeners by its small body size, female antennal morphology and leg setation. The male described here as A. minuta n. sp. is the first known male attributed to the genus.  相似文献

Two new species of the genus Aturus Kramer (A. tuzovskyi sp. n. and A. kimichungi sp. n.) from Russia are described. These species and closely related species of the genus Aturus are compared. A. tuzovskyi sp. n. male is characterized by a slender body, the presence of a pair of bifurcated setae on the dorsal shield, two sword ventrodistal setae equal in length on the genu of leg IV, and 10–14 pairs of acetabula. The female of this species is characterized by the oval body and the presence of 10–13 pairs of acetabula. The male of A. kimichungi sp. n. is characterized by a rounded body, the presence of a single pair of bifurcated setae on the dorsal shield; sword setae on the genu IV are longer than tibia IV; 14–21 pairs of acetabula are present. The female of this species possesses a rounded body and 18–19 pairs of acetabula.  相似文献

Summary Some new species of Benthimermis Petter, 1980 (Benthimermithidae, Nematoda) from the South Indian Ocean. Six new species of Benthimermis collected from the shallows of the Crozet-Prince Edward ridge (South Indian Ocean) are described. Benthimermis australis n.sp. is the first species in the genus of which both male and female are known; the male differs from previously described males in lacking cervical alae as well as a cuticular ring-like thickening around the amphids; the female is characterized by a rounded tail with a thick mucron and with a cuticular thickening at its end. Benthimermis crozetensis n.sp., of which only the male is known, resembles B. breviptera in the form of the cervical alae and reproductive system, but is distinguished by the length of the cervical alae and tail, and the diameter of the anterior vas deferens. The following four species are known only by their females: B. hureaui n.sp. is distinguished by a short conical tail; B. edouardensis n.sp. is distinguished by a tail with a long terminal spike bearing refringment granules; B. marionensis n.sp. and B. arnaudi n.sp. are characterized by a short round tail without a cuticular thickening at its end and are distinguished from one another by the length of the ovaries. These species are the first in the Benthimermithidae which have been found in relatively shallow sediments (between 90 and 980 m). Keys to males and females of the genus Benthimermis are given. ac]19820408

Abstract

New genera Isothraulus, Arachnocolus, and Penniketellus are established for three species of leptophlebiid mayfly from New Zealand. Each genus is monotypic and endemic to New Zealand. Isothraulus and Arachnocolus are known only from the northern North Island, and Penniketellus is known only from the Arthur's Pass area of the central South Island. The male and female imago, nymph, and egg of Isothraulus abditus n.sp., the male imago, male subimago, and nymph of Arachnocolus phillipsi n.sp., and the male and female imago, female subimago, and egg of Penniketellus insolitus n.sp. are described. The relationships of each genus and the ecology of nymphs of each species are discussed.  相似文献

Based on examination of the male genitalia, in particular the structure of the inner sac, a new species of Pelor is described: Zabrus (Pelor) hiekei sp. n. (type locality: island of Kefalonia, Greece). The new species is an insular endemic and adelphotaxon of Z. (P.) incrassatus. The male genitalia of Z. (P.) incrassatus and Z. (P.) bischoffi are also illustrated and described. Three species are gathered in a distinct subgroup within Pelor. Zabrus (P.) incrassatus tuleschkovi Mařan, 1933 is treated as junior synonym of Z. (P.) incrassatus incrassatus (Ahrens, 1814).  相似文献

Summary Cytogenetic studies were made with particular emphasis on the sex-determining mechanism in Rumex acetosella (6 x = 42) and its hybrids (F 1, F 2, BC 1 and BC 2) with R. hastatulus (synthetic 4 x = 16 = 4 A +4 X = and 4 x = 18 = 4 A + 2 (X Y 1 Y 2) = ). Rumex acetosella was almost strictly dioecious with 5050 male and female. Breeding tests revealed that the males were heterogametic. The longest chromosomes (S), usually two, are the sex chromosomes of this hexaploid species. The S chromosomes are homomorphic in both male and female. The sex chromosome: autosome ratios, and the strong epistatic male effect of the S M chromosome in the polyploid dioecious species and in the hybrids, are evidence of an X/Y Melandrium type sex-determining mechanism controlled by a single pair of homomorphic sex chromosomes. Thus, the sex chromosome formula of the males was S F S M and that of females was S F S F. The present approach is a new method for resolving the sex-determining mechanism in a dioecious species.  相似文献

The genus Hemibidessus Zimmermann, 1921 is revised. Six species are recognized in the genus. Two new species are described, H. spirodiscus sp. n. from Bolivia and H. spangleri sp. n. from Argentina. A key for identifying the species is presented. The female genitalia are thoroughly illustrated and described for the first time for any species of Bidessini. Other important diagnostic structures are also illustrated including the male genitalia. A cladistic analysis is presented for 8 species (6 ingroup and 2 outgroup species) and 13 characters. A single most parsimonious cladogram was found.  相似文献

A new glossiphoniid leech species, Placobdelloides tridens sp. n., is discovered on the Malayan Giant Turtle (Orlitia borneensis) at the Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo in Thailand. The morphological study of this new species revealed that it is distinguished from P. siamensis, a turtle leech species that can be found commonly in Thailand. Placobdelloides tridens presented the following diagnostic morphological characteristics: a pear-shaped and triannulate body, well-developed rod-like papillae on the dorsal surface, smooth posterior and anterior suckers with nominal pits inside, a single pair of dark contiguous eyes, light yellow-brown to greenish dorsal color, absence of median line, male and female gonopore separated by a single annulus and a unique trident shape at the tip of the crop ceca. The phylogenetic relationships of P. tridens sp. n., was clarified, and shown to be a sister clade to the P. siamensis and P. sirikanchanae clade. Furthermore, this is a new host record for P. siamensis, which was found on O. borneensis, Batagur affinis and B. borneoensis in the Khao Kheow Open Zoo, Chonburi, Thailand.
