A method for calculating the effective charge of fast ions decelerated in a hot dense plasma is proposed. The method is based on the known experimental dependence of the effective charge of an ion decelerated in cold matter on its velocity. The ion velocity in this dependence is replaced with the velocity of an ion relative to plasma electrons, averaged over the Fermi-Dirac distribution. Using results of numerical calculations performed in a wide range of plasma parameters (from a Maxwellian plasma to a fully degenerate one), a scale-invariant representation of the effective charge of a decelerating ion as a function of its initial velocity and the plasma temperature and density is obtained. An analytical formula fitting the calculated results to within 5% is derived. The obtained dependences of the effective charge are incorporated in the model describing deceleration of fast ions in plasma. Using this model, the stopping powers of krypton and lead ions in a relatively cold rarefied gas-discharge plasma and hot ICF plasma are calculated. The results of calculations are shown to agree satisfactorily with available experimental data.  相似文献

This report evaluates the use of a quadrupolar ion trap for quantitation in a bioanalytical laboratory. The evaluation was accomplished with the cross-validation of an LC–MS–MS quantitative method previously validated on a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer. The method was a multi-level determination of the anti-obesity drug, orlistat, in human plasma. The method has been refined previously on a triple quadrupole instrument to provide rapid sample throughput with robust reproducibility at sub-nanogram detection limits. Optimization of the method on the ion trap required improved chromatographic separation of orlistat from interfering plasma matrix components coextracted during the initial liquid–liquid extraction of plasma samples. The ion trap produces full-scan collision-induced dissociation mass spectra containing characteristic orlistat fragment ions that are useful for quantitation. Data collection on the ion trap required a precursor ion isolation width of 3.0 Da and optimal quantitative results were obtained when three fragment ions were monitored with a 1.8 Da window for each ion. Although a direct cross-validation between the ion trap and the tandem triple quadrupole mass spectrometer was not possible, quantitative results for orlistat comparable to those obtained from the triple quadrupole instrument were achieved by the ion trap with the modified method. The limit of quantitation for orlistat in plasma on the ion trap was 0.3 ng ml−1 with a linear dynamic range of 0.3 to 10 ng ml−1. Precision and accuracy varied from 4 to 15% over the quantitation range. The overall results provide an example of the utility of an ion trap in bioanalytical work.  相似文献

To improve probe methods of plasma diagnostics, special probe measurements were performed and numerical models describing ion transport to a probe with allowance for collisions were developed. The current–voltage characteristics of cylindrical and planar probes were measured in an RF capacitive discharge in argon at a frequency of 81 MHz and plasma densities of 1010–1011 cm–3, typical of modern RF reactors. 1D and 2D numerical models based on the particle-in-cell method with Monte Carlo collisions for simulating ion motion and the Boltzmann equilibrium for electrons are developed to describe current collection by a probe. The models were used to find the plasma density from the ion part of the current–voltage characteristic, study the effect of ion collisions, and verify simplified approaches to determining the plasma density. A 1D hydrodynamic model of the ion current to a cylindrical probe with allowance for ion collisions is proposed. For a planar probe, a method to determine the plasma density from the averaged numerical results is developed. A comparative analysis of different approaches to calculating the plasma density from the ion current to a probe is performed.  相似文献

Basic experimental results on cyclotron heating of the ion plasma component in the Globus-M spherical tokamak obtained by means of the ACORD-12 charge-exchange ion analyzer are presented. A procedure for determining the maximum energy of fast ions confined in the plasma is described. The procedure was applied to estimate the limiting energy of hydrogen minority ions accelerated during ion cyclotron heating in the Globus-M tokamak. The experimental evaluation of the maximum hydrogen ion energy is confirmed by simulations of ion orbits. Recommendations for optimizing experiments on ion cyclotron heating in the Globus-M tokamak are formulated.  相似文献

An ultrasensitive method capable of detection and quantification of beta-phenylethylamine in 1 ml of human plasma has been developed using gas chromatography/electron capture negative ion mass spectrometry. Phenylethylamine and tetra-deutero phenylethylamine internal standard in plasma were acetylated, extracted into organic solvent and then further acylated with pentafluorobenzoyl chloride. The N-acetyl-N-pentafluorobenzoyl-phenylethylamines were detected by high-resolution single ion monitoring of the molecular ions. Normal plasma levels were found to be 41.5 +/- 10.7 pg ml-1, in accordance with results of a previous high-performance liquid chromatographic method.  相似文献

In barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) leaves, differential ion accumulation commonly results in inorganic phosphate (Pi) being confined to the mesophyll and Ca(2+) to the epidermis, with preferential epidermal accumulation of Cl(-), Na(+), and some other ions. The pattern was confirmed in this study for major inorganic anions and cations by analysis of barley leaf protoplasts. The work focused on the extent to which differences in plasma membrane ion transport processes underlie these observations. Ion transport across the plasma membrane of barley epidermal and mesophyll protoplasts was investigated electrophysiologically (by microelectrode impalement and patch clamping) and radiometrically. Data from both approaches suggested that similar types of ion-selective channels and membrane transporters, which catalyze the transport of Ca(2+), K(+), Na(+), and Pi, exist in the plasma membrane of the two cell types. In general, the simple presence or absence of ion transporters could not explain cell-type-specific differences in ion accumulation. However, patch-clamp data suggested that differential regulation of instantaneously activating ion channels in the plasma membrane could explain the preferential accumulation of Na(+) in the epidermis.  相似文献

Dynamics of the thermal and directed motions of argon plasma ions in current sheets formed in various magnetic configurations was investigated experimentally Measurements in three-dimensional magnetic configurations with an X line were carried out for the first time. The results of these measurements were compared with the data obtained in experiments with two-dimensional magnetic configurations. The ion temperature and the energies and velocities of directed plasma flows within the current sheet were determined by analyzing the shapes of argon ion spectral lines broadened due to the Doppler effect. It is found that, under the given experimental conditions, the axial magnetic field does not affect the ion temperature and plasma acceleration in the sheet.  相似文献

The concept that there are physiologic mechanisms to homeostatically regulate plasma fluoride concentrations has been supported by results in the literature suggesting an inverse relationship between plasma fluoride levels and the absorption of the ion from the gastrointestinal tract of the rat. The validity of the relationship was questioned because of possible problems in the experimental design. The present work used four different methods to evaluate the effect of plasma fluoride levels on the absorption of the ion in rats: (i) the percentage of the daily fluoride intake that was excreted in the urine; (ii) the concentration of fluoride in femur epiphyses; (iii) the net areas under the time-plasma fluoride concentration curves after intragastric fluoride doses; and (iv) the residual amounts of fluoride in the gastrointestinal tracts after the intragastric fluoride doses. None of these methods indicated that plasma fluoride levels influence the rate or the degree of fluoride absorption. It was concluded that, unless extremely high plasma fluoride levels are involved (pharmacologic or toxic doses), the absorption of the ion is independent of plasma levels. The results provide further evidence that plasma fluoride concentrations are not homeostatically regulated.  相似文献

Results are presented from investigations of the possibility of heating a hydrogen plasma at the fundamental harmonic of the ion cyclotron frequency in the T-11M tokamak. The fluxes of charge-exchange atoms that escape from the plasma in the radial direction and across the toroidal magnetic field (transverse neutrals) were recorded by a Lakmus neutral particle analyzer. Measurements by the analyzer show that, during an RF pulse, the ion temperature increases by approximately 50–100 eV. Such plasma parameters as the ion temperature, rotation velocity, and isotopic composition were measured by a high-resolution spectrometer. According to the data from high-resolution spectroscopy, the ion temperature increases by approximately 150 eV. Results from numerical simulations of the ion cyclotron resonance heating of a hydrogen plasma in the T-11M tokamak are also given.  相似文献

Dusty plasmas, which are open systems, can form stable one-dimensional self-organized structures. Absorption of plasma by dust particles results in the plasma flux from the plasma regions where the dust is absent. It is found that, in a one-dimensional dust layer, this flux is completely determined by the number of dust particles per unit area of the layer surface. This number determines all of the other parameters of the steady-state dust structure; in particular, it determines the spatial distributions of the dust density, dust charge, electron and ion densities, and ion drift velocity. In these structures, a force and electrostatic balance is established that ensures the necessary conditions for confining the dust and plasma particles in the structure. The equilibrium structures exist only for subthermal ion flow velocities. This criterion determines the maximum possible number of dust particles per unit area in the steady-state structure. The structures have a universal thickness, and the dust density changes sharply at the edge of the structure. The structures with a size either less than or larger than the ion mean free path with respect to ion-neutral collisions, quasi-neutral and charged structures, and soliton-and anti-soliton-like structures are investigated. Laboratory experiments and observations in extraterrestrial plasma formation are discussed in relation to dust structures.  相似文献

Microsomal membranes isolated from rat gastric fundus smooth muscle by differential centrifugation aggregate substantially in the presence of the divalent metal ion Mg2+ or Ca2+. The magnitude of cation-induced membrane aggregation is higher for Ca2+ than for Mg2+, but the ion concentration required for half-maximum membrane aggregation (K0.5 value) is similar for Mg2+ and Ca2+. Cation-induced membrane aggregation is suppressed by high ionic strength and low pH of the medium. Cation-induced membrane aggregation of mitochondrial membrane and plasma membrane enriched fractions differ in the rate of aggregate formation, metal ion concentration dependence, and pH dependence. Such different properties of membrane aggregation were used to prepare a plasma membrane enriched fraction by conventional differential centrifugation. Subfractionation of the heterogeneous microsomal membranes by free-flow electrophoresis indicated that smooth muscle plasma membranes showed a higher electrophoretic mobility than the intracellular membranes. These results suggest that ionic interactions on the cell membrane surfaces differ from those on the intracellular membrane surfaces and that induction of membrane aggregation by Ca2+ or Mg2+ is a useful procedure for an effective and rapid preparation of plasma membrane enriched fraction from smooth muscle.  相似文献

Betaines are an important class of naturally occurring compounds that function as compatible solutes or osmoprotectants. Because of the permanent positive charge on the quaternary ammonium moiety, mass spectrometric analysis has been approached by desorption methods, including fast atom bombardment and plasma desorption mass spectrometry. Here we show that electrospray ionization MS gives comparable results to plasma desorption MS for a range of authentic betaine standards and betaines purified from plant extracts by ion exchange chromatography. A distinct advantage of electrospray ionization MS over plasma desorption MS is the capability of obtaining product ion spectra via MS/MS of selected parent ions, and hence structural information to discriminate between ions of identical mass.  相似文献

Plasma membrane ATPase has been proposed to be functionally altered during early stages of injury caused by a freeze-thaw stress. Complete recovery from freezing injury in onion cells during the postthaw period provided evidence in support of this proposal. During recovery, a simultaneous decrease in ion leakage and disappearance of water soaking (symptoms of freeze-thaw injury) has been noted. Since reabsorption of ions during recovery must be an active process, recovery of plasma membrane ATPase (active transport system) functions has been implicated. In the present study, onion (Allium cepa L. cv Downing Yellow Globe) bulbs were subjected to a freeze-thaw stress which resulted in a reversible (recoverable) injury. Plasma membrane ATPase activity in the microsomes (isolated from the bulb scales) and ion leakage rate (efflux/hour) from the same scale tissue were measured immediately following thawing and after complete recovery. In injured tissue (30-40% water soaking), plasma membrane ATPase activity was reduced by about 30% and this was paralleled by about 25% higher ion leakage rate. As water soaking disappeared during recovery, the plasma membrane ATPase activity and the ion leakage rate returned to about the same level as the respective controls. Treatment of freeze-thaw injured tissue with vanadate, a specific inhibitor of plasma membrane ATPase, during postthaw prevented the recovery process. These results indicate that recovery of freeze-injured tissue depends on the functional activity of plasma membrane ATPase.  相似文献

The problem of self-consistent motion of charged particles in a high-current plasma channel is solved using the kinetic model of a plasma with electron and ion beams whose motion is governed by the resulting electromagnetic field. It is shown that, in a high-density plasma, the ion motion makes the contribution of electrons to the current in the channel negative, in which case the ion current is higher than the net current and the plasma moves at a high speed as an electrically neutral axial stream whose direction coincides with the direction of the current in the channel.  相似文献

The results of measurements of the energy distribution function of ions escaping from a beam-plasma discharge are compared with the data from probe measurements in the discharge region. It is shown that, on the discharge axis, there is a region with a higher degree of ionization, whose position depends on the external parameters, in particular, on the gas pressure. The mean energy of the ions that leave the plasma from the outside of this region is determined by the potential of the plasma column. Inside the region with a higher degree of ionization, there is an additional mechanism for ion acceleration; as a result, the energy of the ions that leave the plasma from this region is higher than the energy of the electrostatically accelerated ions by a factor of 1.5 to 5. The results obtained show promise for creating a plasma-processing reactor with controlled ion parameters for the purposes of treating materials for microelectronics.  相似文献
