The effect of herbicides N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine (glyphosate), 2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid (MCPA), 2-chloro-4-ethylamino-6-isopropylamino-1,3,5-triazine (atrazine) and the respective commercial preparations “Round-up”, “Aminex”, and “Zeazin”, on the activity of lactate dehydrogenase isolated from germinating soybean seeds and beef heart were compared. The main aim of the work was to compare the effect of the herbicides on lactate dehydrogenase isolated from animal and plant material. Simultaneously the effect of herbicides and the respective commercial preparations was compared. Substantial differences resulting from the two comparisons indicate differences in the structure of active centres of lactate dehydrogenase isolated from animal and plant material, and also a considerable effect of additives and surfactants in commercial preparations.  相似文献

Phenolic herbicides were added to suspensions of spinach chloroplasts or to oxygen-evolving Photosystem II membranes. Flash absorption spectroscopy at 21°C around 1000 nm reveals that these chemicals lead to a flash-induced absorption increase attributed to the radical-cation of a carotenoid. The herbicides studied can be arranged in the following order of decreasing efficiency for the reported effect: i-dinoseb, bromonitrothymol, trinitrophenol, ioxynil, dinitroorthocresol, 2,4-dinitrophenol. A similar effect was not observed with atrazine, DCMU or o-phenanthroline. For a given herbicide concentration, the amount of flash-induced carotenoid cation increases sharply when the pH is lowered below 5.5. A similar effect does not take place with other molecules which induce the formation of a carotenoid cation: tetraphenylboron, FCCP, 2-(3-chloro-4-trifluoromethyl)anilino-3,5-dinitrothiophene (ANT-2p). The previous effects are observed in both oxygen-evolving Photosystem II and in preparations in which oxygen evolution is inhibited with alkaline Tris. In untreated material, the carotenoid cation is formed with a half-time of 10–35 μs. After Tris treatment, this half-time is a little longer at low than at high pH. These results indicate the existence of a specific site where phenolic inhibitors interact in the oxygen-evolving site of Photosystem II  相似文献

Identification of the toxicity of compounds is more crucial before entering clinical trials. Awareness of physiochemical properties, possible targets and side effects has become a major public health issue to reduce risks. Experimental determination of analyzing the physiochemical properties of a drug, their interaction with specific receptors and identifying their side-effects remain challenging is time consuming and costly. We describe a manually compiled database named DaiCee database, which contains 2100 anticancer drugs with information on their physiochemical properties, targets of action and side effects. It includes both synthetic and herbal anti-cancer compounds. It allows the search for SMILES notation, Lipinski''s and ADME/T properties, targets and side effect profiles of the drugs. This helps to identify drugs with effective anticancer properties, their toxic nature, drug-likeness for in-vitro and in-vivo experiments. It also used for comparative analysis and screening of effective anticancer drugs using available data for compounds in the database. The database will be updated regularly to provide the users with latest information. The database is available at the URL http://www.hccbif.org/usersearch.php  相似文献

Summary Ten of 159 patients showed arthritic symptoms during the course of BCG immunotherapy for advanced cancer. The arthritic symptoms occurring after BCG injections had the following characteristics: (1) The incidence of arthritis was closely correlated with the host immunologic responsiveness to BCG; (2) These symptoms usually occurred 1–5 months after the first BCG injection (7/10); (3) The arthritic symptoms usually started with morning stiffness (9/10), which was followed by acute inflammatory signs in the affected joints. They gradually subsided in response to treatment with nonsteroid antiinflammatory drugs, but were not completely cured while the effectiveness of BCG continued; (4) The symptoms were aggravated by additional BCG injections (8/10). (5) This form of arthritis could be differentiated from rheumatoid arthritis, tuberculous, or purulent arthritis by its clinical course and by roentgenograms of the affected joints. It is thought to be induced by the adjuvant effect of BCG, and is a new side effect of BCG immunotherapy.  相似文献

Three commercial herbicides, at the rates normally recommended for selective weed control in cereal crops, deformed the roots of spring wheat plants grown in sand culture. Affected roots produced large numbers of short swollen lateral branches which later grew on to form tassel-like bundles of side roots. Only the mecoprop and MCPA components of the mixtures were responsible for the deformities; ioxynil and dicamba had no effect. Mecoprop applied to the rooting medium severely deformed the roots but foliar application also resulted in some abnormalities. The effects of the herbicides on root and shoot dry weights were not correlated with their deformative effects.  相似文献

The survival and infectivity of the infective juveniles of two species of entomopathogenic nematodes, Steinernema feltiae (Rhabditida: Steinernematidae) Heterorhabditis bacteriophora (Rhabditida: Heterorhabditidae), were determined after exposure for 72 h to two concentrations of the herbicides glyphosate and MCPA, as well as to the combination of the two herbicides (glyphosate + MCPA). For all herbicide treatments, concentrations and exposure times, S. feltiae was more tolerant to the herbicides than H. bacteriophora. The exposure of entomopathogenic nematodes to glyphosate + MCPA caused significantly higher mortality (26.33–57.33%) than glyphosate (0.67–15%) or MCPA (2.33–19%) alone. These results confirm the synergistic effect of the glyphosate + MCPA combination on the mortality in these nematodes. Nematode infectivity of Galleria mellonella larvae in response to the herbicides presence was evaluated in Petri dish assays containing sterile sand. Nematode infectivity was not significantly reduced by exposure to herbicides in S. feltiae but H. bacteriophora was less tolerant. Synergistic effect was obtained in the nematode mortality test but no synergistic effect was observed in the nematode infectivity assay. Our results suggest that possible synergistic effects of agrochemicals on survival of nematodes should be tested before mixing with entomopathogenic nematodes.  相似文献
