A study is made of electromagnetic oscillations of a plasma in open field line geometry (open magnetic devices). The oscillations that propagate from the critical surface and are originally of the nature of the electron Langmuir waves are shown to continuously change their nature and to escape from the plasma into vacuum in the form of electromagnetic waves. This phenomenon may give rise to wave energy losses from a thermodynamically nonequilibrium (unstable) plasma, e.g., a plasma penetrated by charged particle beams.  相似文献

A study is made of the generation of electromagnetic waves during the merging of two Langmuir plasmons in a hot plasma with a magnetic field. It is shown that the frequency of Langmuir plasmons can vary in the range from 0.8 to 1.1 of the electron Langmuir frequency. The spectrum and polarization of the emitted electromagnetic radiation are analyzed. It is found that the thermal motion of plasma particles may lead to the generation of electromagnetic waves in the frequency range from 1.6 to 2.2 of the electron Langmuir frequency. In a plasma with an isotropic Langmuir turbulence spectrum, the degree of circular polarization of the emitted radiation can amount to 50%.  相似文献

A study is made of the formation of the spectra of Langmuir waves excited as a result of the development of beam-plasma instability in a collisionless magnetized plasma with low-frequency turbulence. Equations are derived that describe the dynamics of the formation of spectra in the quasilinear statistical approximation.The equations obtained account for small-and large-angle scattering of the electron-beam-excited waves by given background plasma density fluctuations. The scattering of Langmuir waves leads to the redistribution of their energy in phase space and, under appropriate conditions, to the appearance of a characteristic dent in the wave spectra in the frequency range where the spectral intensity is maximum. Numerical simulations carried out for plasma parameters typical of the polar cap of the Earth’s magnetosphere help to explain the shape of the spectra of Langmuir waves that were recorded by the Interball-2 satellite when it was flying through this magnetospheric region.  相似文献

Secondary sexual characters have been suggested to reliably reflect the ability of individuals to resist debilitating parasites, and females may gain direct or indirect fitness benefits from preferring the most extravagantly ornamented males. Extra-pair paternity provides an estimate of an important component of sexual selection in birds. Species with a high frequency of extra-pair paternity have a variance in realized reproductive success that is greater than the variance in apparent reproductive success, and extra-pair copulations and hence extra-pair paternity by females are often directly associated with the expression of male secondary sexual characters. If sexually dichromatic species have experienced a long period of antagonistic coevolution with their parasites, such species should have evolved larger immune defence organs than sexually monochromatic species. Bird species with sexual dichromatism had larger spleens for their body size than monochromatic species in a comparative analysis. Furthermore, species with a high frequency of extra-pair paternity were sexually dichromatic and had large spleens for their body size. These results are consistent with the hypothesis that females of dichromatic bird species seek extra-pair copulations to obtain indirect fitness benefits in terms of superior resistance of their offspring to virulent parasites.  相似文献

The transverse and longitudinal dielectric permittivities of isotropic quantum plasma are calculated in the quantum plasma models based on the Dirac and Pauli equations. The dispersion relations for transverse-longitudinal waves in quantum particle beams are derived. Relativistic longitudinal and transverse waves in cold isotropic quantum plasma in models based on the Klein-Gordon and Dirac equations, as well as spin waves in the model based on the Pauli equation, are considered. A study is made of radio-wave scattering by Langmuir turbulent pulsations in a plasma in a magnetic field. The effect of this process on the polarization of radio waves at frequencies far above or close to the electron plasma frequency is investigated. The wave scattering by Langmuir turbulence is shown to strongly affect the polarization characteristics. When the optical thickness typical of the scattering process is on the order of unity, the degree of wave polarization can change by 30% both at high frequencies and at frequencies close to the plasma frequency, in which case the circular polarization can reverse direction. It is shown that, as a result of wave scattering by Langmuir turbulence, the degree of circular polarization of radio waves depends on the wavelength even in a uniform magnetic field.  相似文献

A nonlinear theory is constructed that describes steady-state ion-acoustic waves in an ideal plasma in which the electron component is a degenerate Fermi gas and the ion component is a classical gas. The parameter ranges in which such a plasma can exist are determined, and dispersion relations for ion-acoustic waves are obtained that make it possible to find the linear ion-acoustic velocity. Analytic gas-dynamic models of ion sound are developed for a plasma with the ion component as a cold, an isothermal, or an adiabatic gas, and moreover, the solutions to the equations of all the models are brought to a quadrature form. Profiles of a subsonic periodic and a supersonic solitary wave are calculated, and the upper critical Mach numbers of a solitary wave are determined. For a plasma with cold ions, the critical Mach number is expressed by an explicit exact formula.  相似文献

Results are presented from a theoretical investigation of the acceleration of test electrons by a Langmuir wave excited by a short laser pulse at half the electron plasma frequency. Such a pulse penetrates into the plasma over a distance equal to the skin depth and efficiently excites Langmuir waves in the resonant interaction at the second harmonic of the laser frequency. It is shown that the beam of electrons accelerated by these waves is modulated into a train of electron bunches, but because of the initial thermal spread of the accelerated electrons, the bunches widen and begin to overlap, with the result that, at large distances, the electron beam becomes unmodulated.  相似文献

Biological systems like cells, bacteria, chloroplasts and other micro-organisms could exchange quantum particles like electrons, photons and gravitational waves and have large distant information teleportation. This is because that their DNAs and membranes are formed from quantum particles like electrons and protons and by their motions, some currents and waves are emerged. These waves have the main role in information teleportation. There are different methods which could be used for quantum information teleportation in biological system. Some of these mechanisms are: 1. Microbes, micro-bubbles and some other biological molecules like to form some biological lines specially near the cellular gates. Also, some biological lines may be formed between two cells. These biological lines could play the role of wires which transmit information from a place to another one. For example, some signatures of this quantum information teleportation could be seen in biological lines which are emerged near the plant cell walls or gates or close to chloroplasts. Chloroplasts shoot some spinors which maybe confined within the micro-bubbles or absorb by microbes. These bubbles and microbes may join to each other and form some biological lines which may be strengthen from a plant cell to another. These biological lines could be seen near the plant cell walls or on a metal which connects two parts of a leaf. 2. Some another signatures of “quantum photon exchange or quantum information teleportation” could be seen between microbes under the objective lenses and macro-objects on the eye lenses of a light microscope. It seems that as microscope make big images from microbes for us, produce small pictures of macro-objects for microbes such as they could diagnose them and interact with them. This property could be used in controlling microbes. 3. Another way for controlling microbes is using of virtual shapes which are induced by a special light source. For example, using a multi-gonal lamp, one can induce multi-gonal shape within the micro-bubbles. Also, this special lamp could force microbes and micro-bubbles to build multi-gonal colonies on a metal-glass slide. Maybe, by using this property, one can build a light source with the shape of anti-microbial matter and induce anti-microbial property within micro-bubbles. 4. Another main way for quantum teleportation is using of gravitational holes which may be emerged by increasing concentration of microbes and heavy cells in some points. These holes absorb microbes and micro-bubbles and conduct them to the heavy cells. Usually, there are some white holes near these dark holes which as a proposal, one can assume that these white holes are another end of gravitational holes and emit photons which are entered from dark end. 5. And finally, a very main mechanism for quantum information teleportation with microbes and controlling them is using of a holography and inducing virtual microbes and biological molecules in biological systems. For example, by a combinations of two lights with different colors under a light microscope in a dark room, one may induce some non-virtual microbes in biological systems such as each microbe interacts with a virtual microbe. This is because that light waves take photos of microbes, collide with lenses of microscopes and return to the slide and form virtual microbes or biological molecules. This technique could be used in curing diseases. Although, results of our experiments show the correctness of these mechanisms and theories, however, for the moment, we propose them only as a proposal and hypothesis and hope that other scientists do similar experiments. Also, some of our experiments may be at preliminary stages; however they could be used as a hypothesis, proposal and guidance.  相似文献

A study is made of the resonant excitation of surface waves via the decay of a Langmuir wave propagating perpendicularly to a plasma-dielectric interface. The excitation dynamics in the initial stage of decay instability is studied, expressions for the growth rates are obtained, and the threshold amplitude of the Langmuir wave above which parametric instability occurs is found. Collisionless quantum plasma models based on the Schröbinger, Klein-Gordon, Dirac, and Pauli equations are considered. The transverse and longitudinal dielectric permittivities of isotropic quantum plasma are calculated in the frameworks of the models based on the Schröbinger and Klein-Gordon equations without allowance for the particle spin. Dispersion relations for transverse-longitudinal waves in beams of spinless quantum particles are derived, and the simplest quantum waves are analyzed.  相似文献

Incoherent scattering of a probing wave by Langmuir fluctuations trapped and enhanced near a local minimum of the electron density (plasma density well) in plasma with a parabolic density profile is considered. Steady-state amplitudes of fluctuations are calculated for arbitrary velocity distribution functions of plasma particles with allowance for electron collisions. It is shown that quasi-periodic oscillations with two characteristic scales can be present in the spectrum of the plasma line. The smaller scale is due to the wellknown effect of discretization of the spectrum of Langmuir fluctuations in a plasma density well. The larger scale is associated with the generation of scattered waves in two spatial regions and subsequent interference of these waves at the exit from the density well. Oscillations with this scale are more stable under unsteady plasma conditions and can be more often observed in experiments. The results of this work can be used to experimentally determine the plasma parameters, such as the electron collision frequency and the size and lifetime of the plasma density well.  相似文献

The excitation of plasma waves during the injection of an unmodulated and a density-modulated electron beam into a semi-infinite cold plasma is investigated. It is shown that the Langmuir oscillation energy accumulated in the plasma increases substantially near the plasma boundary and that the dimension of the region where the Langmuir oscillation energy is localized decreases with time.  相似文献

Due to a middle- to long-wavelength-sensitive (M/LWS) cone opsin polymorphism, there is considerable phenotypic variation in the color vision of New World monkeys. Many females have trichromatic vision, whereas some females and all males have dichromatic vision. The selective pressures that maintain this polymorphism are unclear. In the present study we compared the performance of dichromats and trichromats in a discrimination task. We examined tri- and dichromatic individuals of two species: brown capuchin monkeys (Cebus apella) and long-tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis). We also examined one protanomalous chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes). The subjects' task was to discriminate a circular pattern from other patterns in which textural elements differed in orientation and thickness from the background. After they were trained with stimuli of a single color, the subjects were presented with color-camouflaged stimuli with a green/red mosaic overlaid onto the pattern. The dichromatic monkeys and the protanomalous chimpanzee selected the correct stimulus under camouflaged conditions at rates significantly above chance levels, while the trichromats did not. These findings demonstrate that dichromatic nonhuman primates possess a superior visual ability to discriminate color-camouflaged stimuli, and that such an ability may confer selective advantages with respect to the detection of cryptic foods and/or predators.  相似文献

Predators exert strong selection pressures on their prey. Prey would therefore benefit by adjusting their behaviour to the risk of predation, while predators conversely would benefit from adjusting their behaviour to that of their prey. Extravagant ornamentation has evolved to attract mates and/or successfully compete with conspecifics of the same sex to secure high mating success, even if that occurs at a cost of increased risk of predation. Thus, sexually dichromatic species may be more susceptible to predation than sexually monochromatic species, and the presence of compensation is indicative of such species being more vulnerable. If extravagant ornamentation is costly in terms of predation risk, then we should expect sexually dichromatic species to have longer flight initiation distances (FID) than sexually monochromatic species. If ornamentation is acquired as a handicap with only individuals in prime condition being able to display with the smallest viability cost, we should expect sexually dichromatic individuals to have shorter FID than sexually monochromatic individuals. Such differences among individuals should, on an evolutionary time scale, translate into differences in FID being related to differences in sexual dichromatism among species. We investigated the relationship between FID and sexual dichromatism in phylogenetic analyses, while accounting for effects of continent (Australia, North America, and Europe), body mass, the interaction between sexual dichromatism and body mass and the interaction between sexual dichromatism and continent. In an analysis of 447 species we found shorter FID in sexually dichromatic than in sexually monochromatic species (consistent with the handicap hypothesis because sexually dichromatic species took greater risks), especially so at large body size. FID differed among continents and the relative difference in FID between sexually monochromatic and sexually dichromatic species was larger in Europe than in Australia and North America. These differences among continents may be attributed to latitudinal effects of predation. These findings are important for current ideas about the evolution of secondary sexual characters because they imply covarying continental differences in predation, especially for large bodied sexually dichromatic species.  相似文献

A quantum theory of stimulated Cherenkov emission of longitudinal waves by an electron beam in an isotropic plasma is presented. The emitted radiation is interpreted as instability due to the decay of the de Broglie wave of a beam electron. Nonrelativistic and relativistic nonlinear quantum equations for Cherenkov beam instabilities are obtained. A linear approximation is used to derive quantum dispersion relations and to determine the instability growth rates. The mechanisms for nonlinear saturation of quantum Cherenkov beam instabilities are investigated, and the corresponding analytic solutions are found.  相似文献

The mechanism responsible for the previously discovered phenomenon of acceleration of an ion flow along the normal to the axis of a beam-plasma discharge in a weak magnetic field is investigated. It is suggested that the ions are accelerated in the field of a helicon wave excited in the discharge plasma column. It is shown theoretically that, under actual experimental conditions, a helicon wave can be excited at the expense of the energy of an electron beam. The spectral parameters and spatial structure of the waves excited in a beam-plasma discharge in the frequency ranges of Langmuir and helicon waves are studied experimentally and are shown to be related to the parameters of the ion flow. Theoretical estimates are found to agree well with the experimental results.  相似文献
