本研究旨在探讨以心率控制方式进行12周的上坡高强度间歇训练(uphill high-intensityinterval training,uHIIT)和中等水平强度持续训练(moderate-intensity continuous training, MCT)对于中年过重肥胖男性的身体组成(体脂肪百分比和净体重)、代谢症候指标(安静血压,血糖,高低密度脂蛋白胆固醇,总胆固醇和甘油三脂)及心肺耐力指标(最大摄氧量,无氧阈值和力竭时间)的影响。本研究通过对25位中年过重肥胖男性(BMI>24)训练前后的身体组成与代谢症候指标进行检测,并进行渐增强度测验,以评估心肺耐力指标。前测后,受试者随机分配至uHIIT组(心率控制强度为90%HRmax,运动2 min休息1 min共7次进行约20 min)、MCT组(心率控制强度为65%~70%HRmax,运动约40 min)与控制组。进行每周3次为期12周的训练后,再接受相同的测试1次。研究显示,相较于控制组,uHIIT组与MCT组的最大摄氧量(V4O2max)、无氧阈值、力竭时间、臀部脂肪皆显著改善,且uHIIT组在V4O2max增加量上显著高于MCT组,仅有uHIIT组的血压、体脂肪百分比和腿部脂肪显著改善。本研究表明,uHIIT与MCT皆可改善中年肥胖男性心肺耐力,同时uHIIT对于减脂与血压的改善较为显著,但其余代谢指标受到运动的影响较小,减脂效果上uHIIT的运动效益优于MCT,建议运动时应重视运动强度。  相似文献

The skeletal muscle capillary supply is an important determinant of maximum exercise capacity, and it is well known that endurance exercise training increases the muscle capillary supply. The muscle capillary supply and exercise-induced angiogenesis are regulated in part by vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). VEGF is produced by skeletal muscle cells and can be secreted into the circulation. We investigated whether there are differences in circulating plasma VEGF between sedentary individuals (Sed) and well-trained endurance athletes (ET) at rest or in response to acute exercise. Eight ET men (maximal oxygen consumption: 63.8 +/- 2.3 ml x kg(-1) x min(-1); maximum power output: 409.4 +/- 13.3 W) and eight Sed men (maximal oxygen consumption: 36.3 +/- 2.1 ml x kg(-1) x min(-1); maximum power output: 234.4 +/- 13.3 W) exercised for 1 h at 50% of maximum power output. Antecubital vein plasma was collected at rest and at 0, 2, and 4 h postexercise. Plasma VEGF was measured by ELISA analysis. Acute exercise significantly increased VEGF at 0 and 2 h postexercise in ET subjects but did not increase VEGF at any time point in Sed individuals. There was no difference in VEGF between ET and Sed subjects at any time point. When individual peak postexercise VEGF was analyzed, exercise did increase VEGF independent of training status. In conclusion, exercise can increase plasma VEGF in both ET athletes and Sed men; however, there is considerable variation in the individual time of the peak VEGF response.  相似文献

Previous studies have reported respiratory, cardiac and muscle changes at rest in triathletes 24 h after completion of the event. To examine the effects of these changes on metabolic and cardioventilatory variables during exercise, eight male triathletes of mean age 21.1 (SD 2.5) years (range 17-26 years) performed an incremental cycle exercise test (IET) before (pre) and the day after (post) an official classic triathlon (1.5-km swimming, 40-km cycling and 10-km running). The IET was performed using an electromagnetic cycle ergometer. Ventilatory data were collected every minute using a breath-by-breath automated system and included minute ventilation (V(E)), oxygen uptake (VO2), carbon dioxide production (VCO2), respiratory exchange ratio, ventilatory equivalent for oxygen (V(E)/VO2) and for carbon dioxide (V(E)/VCO2), breathing frequency and tidal volume. Heart rate (HR) was monitored using an electrocardiogram. The oxygen pulse was calculated as VO2/HR. Arterialized blood was collected every 2 min throughout IET and the recovery period, and lactate concentration was measured using an enzymatic method. Maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) was determined using conventional criteria. Ventilatory threshold (VT) was determined using the V-slope method formulated earlier. Cardioventilatory variables were studied during the test, at the point when the subject felt exhausted and during recovery. Results indicated no significant differences (P > 0.05) in VO2max [62.6 (SD 5.9) vs 64.6 (SD 4.8) ml x kg(-1) x min(-1)], VT [2368 (SD 258) vs 2477 (SD 352) ml x min(-1)] and time courses of VO2 between the pre- versus post-triathlon sessions. In contrast, the time courses of HR and blood lactate concentration reached significantly higher values (P < 0.05) in the pre-triathlon session. We concluded that these triathletes when tested 24 h after a classic triathlon displayed their pre-event aerobic exercise capacity, bud did not recover pretriathlon time courses in HR or blood lactate concentration.  相似文献

The goal of this study was to test the hypothesis that, in groups of highly trained endurance athletes (first and junior national teams), the final blood lactate concentration at maximum aerobic performance decreased as their training status increased. This study was performed with 20 physically active volunteers and 45 highly trained middle- and long-distance endurance athletes (speed skaters, triathletes, and cross-country skiers). Significant negative correlations (r = ?0.59 to ?0.87) between the final blood lactate concentration after incremental tests until exhaustion and aerobic performance (anaerobic threshold (AT)) were found only for the groups of highly trained endurance athletes, but not for the group of physically active subjects. It was shown for highly trained speed skaters that the final lactate concentration in their blood decreased and the oxygen consumption at AT increased with an increase in the volume of type I muscle fibers in the working muscle (r = ?0.84 and r = 0.7, respectively).  相似文献

Whether the use of pre-exercise hyperhydration could improve the performance of athletes who do not hydrate sufficiently during prolonged exercise is still unknown. We therefore compared the effects of pre-exercise hyperhydration and pre-exercise euhydration on endurance capacity, peak power output and selected components of the cardiovascular and thermoregulatory systems during prolonged cycling. Using a randomized, crossover experimental design, 6 endurance-trained subjects underwent a pre-exercise hyperhydration (26 ml of water x kg body mass(-1) with 1.2 g glycerol x kg body mass(-1)) or pre-exercise euhydration period of 80 min, followed by 2 h of cycling at 65% maximal oxygen consumption (VO(.)2max) (26-27 degrees C) that were interspersed by 5, 2-min intervals performed at 80% V(.)O2max. Following the 2 h cycling exercise, subjects underwent an incremental cycling test to exhaustion. Pre-exercise hyperhydration increased body water by 16.1+/-2.2 ml.kg body mass(-1). During exercise, subjects received 12.5 ml of sports drink x kg body mass(-1). With pre-exercise hyperhydration and pre-exercise euhydration, respectively, fluid ingestion during exercise replaced 31.0+/-2.9% and 37.1+/-6.8% of sweat losses (p>0.05). Body mass loss at the end of exercise reached 1.7+/-0.3% with pre-exercise hyperhydration and 3.3+/-0.4% with pre-exercise euhydration (p<0.05). During the 2 h of cycling, pre-exercise hyperhydration significantly decreased heart rate and perceived thirst, but rectal temperature, sweat rate, perceived exertion and perceived heat-stress did not differ between conditions. Pre-exercise hyperhydration significantly increased time to exhaustion and peak power output, compared with pre-exercise euhydration. We conclude that pre-exercise hyperhydration improves endurance capacity and peak power output and decreases heart rate and thirst sensation, but does not reduce rectal temperature during 2 h of moderate to intense cycling in a moderate environment when fluid consumption is 33% of sweat losses.  相似文献

Ambient temperature can affect physical performance, and an ambient temperature range of −4 °C to 11 °C is optimal for endurance performance in male athletes. The few similar studies of female athletes appear to have found differences in response to cold between the genders. This study investigated whether ambient temperature affects female endurance performance. Nine athletes performed six tests while running on a treadmill in a climatic chamber at different ambient temperatures: 20, 10, 1, −4, −9 and −14 °C and a wind speed of 5 m s−1. The exercise protocol consisted of a 10-min warm-up, followed by four 5-min intervals at increasing intensities at 76%, 81%, 85%, and 89% of maximal oxygen consumption. This was followed by an incremental test to exhaustion. Although peak heart rate, body mass loss, and blood lactate concentration after the incremental test to exhaustion increased as the ambient temperature rose, no changes in time to exhaustion, running economy, running speed at lactate threshold or maximal oxygen consumption were found between the different ambient temperature conditions. Endurance performance during one hour of incremental exercise was not affected by ambient temperature in female endurance athletes.  相似文献

Human endurance performance can be predicted from maximal oxygen consumption (Vo(2max)), lactate threshold, and exercise efficiency. These physiological parameters, however, are not wholly exclusive from one another, and their interplay is complex. Accordingly, we sought to identify more specific measurements explaining the range of performance among athletes. Out of 150 separate variables we identified 10 principal factors responsible for hematological, cardiovascular, respiratory, musculoskeletal, and neurological variation in 16 highly trained cyclists. These principal factors were then correlated with a 26-km time trial and test of maximal incremental power output. Average power output during the 26-km time trial was attributed to, in order of importance, oxidative phosphorylation capacity of the vastus lateralis muscle (P = 0.0005), steady-state submaximal blood lactate concentrations (P = 0.0017), and maximal leg oxygenation (sO(2LEG)) (P = 0.0295), accounting for 78% of the variation in time trial performance. Variability in maximal power output, on the other hand, was attributed to total body hemoglobin mass (Hb(mass); P = 0.0038), Vo(2max) (P = 0.0213), and sO(2LEG) (P = 0.0463). In conclusion, 1) skeletal muscle oxidative capacity is the primary predictor of time trial performance in highly trained cyclists; 2) the strongest predictor for maximal incremental power output is Hb(mass); and 3) overall exercise performance (time trial performance + maximal incremental power output) correlates most strongly to measures regarding the capability for oxygen transport, high Vo(2max) and Hb(mass), in addition to measures of oxygen utilization, maximal oxidative phosphorylation, and electron transport system capacities in the skeletal muscle.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of different sport activities on cardiac adaptation. Echocardiographic data of 137 athletes and 21 non-athletes were measured and compared in two age groups 15-16 and 17-18 years of age. Athletes belonged into three groups according to their sports activity (endurance events, power athletes, ball game players). The observed variables were related to body size by indices in which the exponents of the numerator and the denominator were matched. Left ventricular hypertrophy was manifest in all athletic groups. Power athletes had the largest mean left ventricular wall thickness (LVWTd) in both age groups. In the older age group differences between the athletic groups were smaller, but the endurance and power athletes had significantly higher wall thickness. Left ventricular internal diameter (LVIDd) was the largest in the endurance athletes, while mean relative muscle mass (LVMM) was the largest in the power athletes. LVMM of the older endurance athletes was significantly larger. Muscular quotient (MQ) was the highest in the endurance athletes; in the 17-18-year group there was no inter-event difference. Bradycardia was most manifest in the endurance athletes and ball game players, power athletes had higher resting heart rates than non-athletic subjects. It can be inferred that endurance training induces firstly an enlargement of the left ventricle what is then followed by an increase of muscle mass. In the studied functional and regulatory parameters no difference was found between the athletic and non-athletic groups.  相似文献

These experiments examined the exercise-induced changes in pulmonary gas exchange in elite endurance athletes and tested the hypothesis that an inadequate hyperventilatory response might explain the large intersubject variability in arterial partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2) during heavy exercise in this population. Twelve highly trained endurance cyclists [maximum oxygen consumption (VO2max) range = 65-77 ml.kg-1.min-1] performed a normoxic graded exercise test on a cycle ergometer to VO2max at sea level. During incremental exercise at VO2max, 5 of the 12 subjects had ideal alveolar to arterial PO2 gradients (PA-aO2) of above 5 kPa (range 5-5.7) and a decline from resting PaO2 (delta PaO2) 2.4 kPa or above (range 2.4-2.7). In contrast, 4 subjects had a maximal exercise PA-aO2 of 4.0-4.3 kPa with delta PaO2 of 0.4-1.3 kPa while the remaining 3 subjects had PA-aO2 of 4.3-5 kPa with delta PaO2 between 1.7 and 2.0 kPa. The correlation between PAO2 and PaO2 at VO2max was 0.17. Further, the correlation between the ratio of ventilation to oxygen consumption vs PaO2 and arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide vs PaO2 at VO2max was 0.17 and 0.34, respectively. These experiments demonstrate that heavy exercise results in significantly compromised pulmonary gas exchange in approximately 40% of the elite endurance athletes studied. These data do not support the hypothesis that the principal mechanism to explain this gas exchange failure is an inadequate hyperventilatory response.  相似文献

Erythropoietic adaptations involving the oxygen dissociation curve (ODC) and erythropoietin production have been implicated in the etiology of reduced blood haemoglobin concentrations in sportspersons (known as sports anaemia). A significant increase in the half-saturation pressure indicating a right-shift in the ODC was measured in 34 male [25.8-27.4 mmHg (3.44-3.65 kPa)] and 16 female (25.8-27.7 mmHg (3.44-3.69 kPa)] trained distance runners (P less than 0.01 for both genders) after completing a standard 42-km marathon. Erythrocyte 2,3-diphosphoglycerate concentrations measured concurrently were unaltered by exercise, although consistently higher in the female compared to the male athletes (P less than 0.05). The serum erythropoietin (EPO) concentrations of 15 male triathletes (26.3 U.ml-1) were significantly lower than those of 45 male distance runners (31.6 U.ml-1; P less than 0.05). However, the mean serum EPO concentrations of male and female athletes engaged in a variety of sports were not different from those of sedentary control subjects of both sexes (26.5-35.3 U.ml-1). Furthermore, the serum EPO concentrations were unaltered after prolonged strenuous exercise in 20 male marathon runners. These data suggest that the haematological status of these endurance athletes is in fact normal and that the observed shift in the ODC, while providing a physiological advantage during exercise, has no measurable effect on the erythropoietic drive.  相似文献

To test the hypotheses that short-term bed-rest (BR) deconditioning influences metabolic, cardiorespiratory, and neurohormonal responses to exercise and that these effects depend on the subjects' training status, 12 sedentary men and 10 endurance- and 10 strength-trained athletes were submitted to 3-day BR. Before and after BR they performed incremental exercise test until volitional exhaustion. Respiratory gas exchange and heart rate (HR) were recorded continuously, and stroke volume (SV) was measured at submaximal loads. Blood was taken for lactate concentration ([LA]), epinephrine concentration ([Epi]), norepinephrine concentration ([NE]), plasma renin activity (PRA), human growth hormone concentration ([hGH]), testosterone, and cortisol determination. Reduction of peak oxygen uptake (VO(2 peak)) after BR was greater in the endurance athletes than in the remaining groups (17 vs. 10%). Decrements in VO(2 peak) correlated positively with the initial values (r = 0.73, P < 0.001). Resting and exercise respiratory exchange ratios were increased in athletes. Cardiac output was unchanged by BR in all groups, but exercise HR was increased and SV diminished in the sedentary subjects. The submaximal [LA] and [LA] thresholds were decreased in the endurance athletes from 71 to 60% VO(2 peak) (P < 0.001); they also had an earlier increase in [NE], an attenuated increase in [hGH], and accentuated PRA and cortisol elevations during exercise. These effects were insignificant in the remaining subjects. In conclusion, reduction of exercise performance and modifications in neurohormonal response to exercise after BR depend on the previous level and mode of physical training, being the most pronounced in the endurance athletes.  相似文献

The dynamics of metabolic states in athletes during alternate intense muscular activity was studied. In a laboratory, highly trained athletes (cyclists and speed skaters) performed tests on a bicycle ergometer at the level of the critical power and maximal oxygen consumption. In two additional series of experiments, each of the subjects performed tests at the level of critical power with initial acceleration of 28% of the maximal duration of the 45- and 108-s exercises. During the exercise when the subjects worked at critical power, a succession of metabolic phases was observed: the initial lag period, rapid exponential growth to the level of critical power, subsequent maintenance of the critical power, and, finally, functional disorders of aerobic metabolism, along with increasing local fatigue. We found that a short (no more than 10 s) initial acceleration at the level of power equal to the 45-s maximal exercise is the most efficient for performance at the level of critical power maintenance; this acceleration stimulates the development of aerobic metabolism and does not lead to depletion of anaerobic resources or considerable local exhaustion at the end of the performance.  相似文献

The present study examined the effects of training status (endurance exercise or body building) on nitrogen balance, body composition, and urea excretion during periods of habitual and altered protein intakes. Experiments were performed on six elite bodybuilders, six elite endurance athletes, and six sedentary controls during a 10-day period of normal protein intake followed by a 10-day period of altered protein intake. The nitrogen balance data revealed that bodybuilders required 1.12 times and endurance athletes required 1.67 times more daily protein than sedentary controls. Lean body mass (density) was maintained in bodybuilders consuming 1.05 g protein.kg-1.day-1. Endurance athletes excreted more total daily urea than either bodybuilders or controls. We conclude that bodybuilders during habitual training require a daily protein intake only slightly greater than that for sedentary individuals in the maintenance of lean body mass and that endurance athletes require daily protein intakes greater than either bodybuilders or sedentary individuals to meet the needs of protein catabolism during exercise.  相似文献

This study compared the body water turnover in endurance athletes and age-matched sedentary men. Eight competitive endurance athletes (20.8+/-1.9 yr) and age-matched eight sedentary men (21.6+/-2.5 yr) participated in this study. Total body water and body water turnover were measured using the deuterium (D(2)O) dilution technique. Urine samples were obtained every day for 10 days after oral administration of D(2)O. The day-by-day concentrations were used to calculate the biological half-life of D(2)O and body water turnover. Maximal oxygen uptake (VO(2max)) and oxygen uptake corresponding to ventilatory threshold (VO(2VT)) as an index of aerobic capacity were determined during a graded exercise test. Both VO(2max) and VO(2VT) were higher in the exercise group than in the sedentary group (P<0.05). The biological half-life of D(2)O was significantly shorter in the exercise group than in the sedentary group (5.89+/-0.81 days vs. 7.52+/-0.77 days, P<0.05), and the percentage of the body water turnover was significantly higher in the exercise group than in the sedentary group (11.99+/-1.96% vs. 9.39+/-1.21%, P<0.05). The body water turnover was correlated with VO(2max) and VO(2VT), respectively (P<0.05). Based on these findings, this study speculates that a level of physical activity may induce a body water turnover higher in the healthy state, since the better trained subjects have a higher body water turnover.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between anaerobic threshold (Th(an)) and muscle fatigue threshold (EMGFT) as estimated from electromyographic (EMG) data taken from the quadriceps muscles (vastus lateralis) during exercise on a cycle ergometer. The subjects in this study were 20 female college students, including highly trained endurance athletes and untrained sedentary individuals, whose fitness levels derived from their maximal oxygen consumption ranged from 24.9 to 62.2 ml.kg-1.min-1. The rate of increase in integrated EMG (iEMG) activity as a function of time (iEMG slope) was calculated at each of four constant power outputs (350, 300, 250, 200 W), sufficiently high to bring about muscle fatigue. The iEMG slopes so obtained were plotted against the exercise intensities imposed, resulting in linear plots which were extrapolated to zero slope to give an intercept on the power axis which was in turn interpreted as the highest exercise intensity sustainable without electromyographic evidence of neuromuscular fatigue (EMGFT). The Th(an) was estimated from gas exchange parameters during an incremental exercise test on the same cycle ergometer. The mean results indicated that oxygen uptake (VO2) at Than was 1.39 l.min-1, SD 0.44 and VO2 at EMGFT was 1.33 l.min-1, SD 0.57. A study was made of the effects of prolonged physical exercise (90 min at a power of 17 kgm min–1 kg–1) on plasma free fatty acids (FFAs), blood Ca2+, oxygen consumption (OC), and body temperature of endurance-trained athletes and untrained subjects. The athletes displayed correlations between afterload plasma FFAs, OC, and changes in blood Ca2+ during exercise. Blood Ca2+ was shown to regulate the mobilization of lipids in the blood.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to examine whether variables commonly used in aerobic exercise testing are influenced by menstrual cycle phases and use of oral contraceptive (OC) in female rowers. Twenty-four eumenorrheic female rowers distinguished on the basis of both menstrual status and athleticism participated in this study and were divided into competitive cyclic athletes (n = 8), recreationally trained cyclic athletes (n = 7), and recreationally trained athletes taking OC pills (ROC; n = 9). Rowers performed 2 incremental tests to voluntary exhaustion on a rowing ergometer during 2 different phases of the menstrual cycle: the follicular phase (FP) and the luteal phase (LP). The study variables were power output (Pa), heart rate (HR), oxygen consumption (VO2), carbon dioxide production (VCO2), minute ventilation (VE), the mean respiratory exchange ratio, and ventilatory equivalents of O2 (VE/VO2)) and CO2 (VE/VCO2), which were measured at maximal and at the aerobic-anaerobic transition intensities. In addition, maximal blood lactate (La) values after the test were obtained. When comparing Pa, &OV0312;o2, HR, and La values, no significant differences (p > 0.05) between FP and LP at maximal load and at threshold intensity were found in all 3 groups of the rowers studied. However, we observed higher values (p < 0.05) for VE/VCO2 at both intensities in LP compared with FP in the ROC group. In conclusion, sport-specific endurance performance was not influenced by the phase of the normal menstrual cycle and the synthetic menstrual cycle of the OC users in the rowers studied. Therefore, normally menstruating female rowers and female rowers taking OC pills should not be concerned about the timing of their menstrual cycle with regard to optimized sport-specific endurance performance.  相似文献

In order to examine the effect of acute respiratory acidosis induced by CO2 inhalation prior to maximal exercise on blood lactate and physical performance, double determinations were carried out for each subject on separate days; one day, after CO2 inhalation and other day, after inhalation of room air. It was observed that in the untrained subjects the CO2 inhalation prior to maximal treadmill exercise does not affect endurance time and maximum aerobic power, whereas blood lactate during recovery was lower in CO2 breathing than that in room air. In addition, no significant difference of 200m sprint time in the athletes was noticed between CO2 and room air while blood lactate after 200m sprint running was significantly lower in the CO2 than that in room air. From these results, it was suggested that the effect of CO2 inhalation prior to maximal exercise as applied here appeared to be mediate through metabolic rather than oxygen transport mechanism, but not related to physical performance.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the relation between upper body muscle strength and endurance, and exercise capacity during an incremental cycle exercise test in sedentary healthy male subjects before and after 6 months of combined supervised group training. Exercise capacity was measured as maximal oxygen consumption (VO?peak) and maximum work rate (WR(peak)). Muscle strength and endurance of the upper body were assessed by bench press and isometric measurement of trunk extensor and flexor maximum voluntary contraction (MVC) and trunk extensor and flexor endurance. Thirty-one subjects were studied before and after the training period. Bench press and trunk extensor MVC correlated to exercise capacity at baseline and after training. Training improved VO?peak and WR(peak). The correlation between trunk extensor MVC and exercise capacity improved after training. Upper body strength may affect exercise capacity by increasing the rider's ability to generate force on the handlebar that can be transmitted to the pedals. Resistance training of the arms, chest, and trunk may help improve cycling performance.  相似文献

Physical activity, particularly that, exerted by endurance athletes, impacts the immune status of the human body. Prolonged duration and high-intensity endurance training lead to increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and thereby to oxidative stress. Military combat swimmers (O2-divers) are regularly exposed to hyperbaric hyperoxia (HBO) in addition to intensive endurance training intervals. They are, therefore, exposed to extreme levels of oxidative stress. Several studies support that the intensity of oxidative stress essentially determines the effect on immune status. The aim of this study was to comparatively characterise peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of O2-divers (military combat swimmers), endurance athletes (amateur triathletes), and healthy control volunteers with respect to DNA fragmentation, immune status and signs of inflammation. Furthermore, it was investigated how PBMCs from these groups responded acutely to exposure to HBO. We showed that DNA fragmentation was comparable in PBMCs of all three groups under basal conditions directly after HBO exposure. However, significantly higher DNA fragmentation was observed in O2-divers 18?hours after HBO, possibly indicating a slower recovery. O2-divers also exhibited a proinflammatory immune status exemplified by an elevated number of CD4+CD25+ T cells, elevated expression of proinflammatory cytokine IL-12, and diminished expression of anti-inflammatory TGF-β1 compared to controls. Supported by a decreased basal gene expression and prolonged upregulation of anti-oxidative HO-1, these data suggest that higher oxidative stress levels, as present under intermitted hyperbaric hyperoxia, e.g. through oxygen diving, promote a higher inflammatory immune status than oxidative stress through endurance training alone.  相似文献
